One or Two Wars Before Armageddon?

As a young man, living in the pre-Hal Linsey books age, I was taught that only one war occurred during the “latter days” before Armageddon. It was a war that began in the Middle East when the antichrist attacked the nation of Israel, and ended some 3 and ½ years later with the final battle of this age – Armageddon. But I now find myself surrounded by a large array of preachers and teachers who are convinced that the war led by Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and found in Ezekiel 38 and 39, occurs before the war that commences some 3 and ½ years before the battle of Armageddon, and that the antichrist is not Gog, but comes out the war led by Gog, and then leads 10 European Union nations against Israel. They teach that when Gog and his armies come against Israel they will be slaughtered, and that Israel will be absolutely successful in thoroughly routing them. Perhaps I overlooked it, but in all my years of looking in many old musty religious archives, I never found a manuscript published before 1760 that taught there were two back-to-back wars just before the battle of Armageddon. It would seem to me that the arrival of Napoleon in Europe set the stage for a shift from bringing the antichrist out of the southern flank of the old Roman Empire to a new scheme of bringing him out of the northern flank. This shift necessitated the invention of two wars. I do not believe the shift should ever have been made. I believe the attack of the antichrist is found in the following Scriptures, and I believe the attack occurs some 1335 days before the end of this age at Armageddon.

Ezekiel 38:10,11 – Thus saith the Lord God; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: [11] And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

Daniel 7:24,25 – And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. [25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Daniel 11:41 – He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

Micah 5:5 – And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Revelation 13:5,6 – And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. [6] And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

Revelation 17:12.13 – And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

I believe that the following names all apply to the antichrist: He is Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal in Ezekiel 38 and 39, the eleventh horn in Daniel 7, the king of the north in Daniel 11:40, the Assyrian in Micah 5, the seventh wounded head on the beast in Revelation 13, and the eighth head on the beast in Revelation 17.

The 3 and ½ year war in all accounts follows a certain pattern from start to finish.

(1) The initial Islamic attack against Israel occurs, and is successful.
(2) After Jerusalem falls, then Israel is driven into the Negev
(3) The Lord leaves Israel under a truce in the Negev for 3 and ½ years.
(4) God protects surrounded Israel in the Negev during that period.
(5) Antichrist (Gog) breaks Israel Negev truce and God fights for Her
(6) The Lord leaves most of the enemy bodies on the hills of Israel at the final battle of Armageddon when he returns at His Second Advent.

Ezekiel 38:8,9 (1) – After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them. [9] Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

Zechariah 13:8 (1) – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Zechariah 14:2,3 (2) – For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. [3] Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

Daniel 7:25 (3) – And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Revelation 12:6 (4) – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Ezekiel 39:1-5 (5) – Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: [2] And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: [3] And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. [4] Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. [5] Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.

Revelation 19:17-21 (5) – And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; [18] That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. [19] And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. [21] And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Ezekiel 38:1,2 – And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, [2] Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

Gog is a person, the antichrist. Magog is a land, the land of Magog. God tells Ezekiel to set his face against a person, Gog, and against a land, Magog, which is Russia. Gog is NOT the chief prince of Magog (Russia). He is the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal. At the time of Ezekiel’s writings the descendants of Magog were settled in Russia, while the descendants of Meshech and Tubal were settled in what later became known as Greater Syria. The antichrist will come out of Greater Syria to launch the initial attack. Some 3 and ½ years later Magog (Russia) will come down to join him at Armageddon.

To make a long story short – I believe there is only one war, the war that begins when Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, attacks Israel, and ends three and one-half years later when Magog (Russia), along with all of Europe, Eurasia, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, comes down to join him against Israel at the final battle of Armageddon – Only to find the bodies of their great armies end up as buzzard bait on the hills of Israel.

BUT AM I PREPARED TO BE WRONG? CERTAINLY! WHAT WILL I DO IF THERE ARE TWO WARS? WELL, I WILL JUST SAY I WAS WRONG, AND WAIT FOR ANTICHRIST TO COME OUT OF THE FIRST WAR, THAT IS, IF I AM STILL HERE.

BUT WHAT IF THERE IS ONLY ONE WAR? WELL, ONLY ONE THIRD OF ISRAEL WILL SURVIVE, JERUSALEM WILL FALL, ISRAEL WILL BE DRIVEN INTO THE NEGEV, AND YOU WILL STILL BE WAITING FOR AN ANTICHRIST THAT IS ALREADY ON THE SCENE, THAT IS, IF YOU ARE STILL HERE.

My advice is to be prepared for either eventuality, even one that may be quite different from how many of these verses are commonly interpreted. I think that falls under the category of “watching.”

Reports Monday, Feb. 18, that Hizballah has transferred 1,000 fighters to the Syrian district of Homs are a red herring to distract attention from six new major developments in the Syrian civil conflict – revealed here by DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources:

1. Contrary to reports of Hizballah attacks on villages in the Homs region, the thousand Hizballah militiamen have moved in to defend the predominantly Shiite villages of the area whose population is loyal to Bashar Assad. They are there to relieve the Syrian army of the burden of defending these Shiites against rebel attack.

Hizballah has also undertaken to guard Shiite holy shrines in Syria.

2. The Muslim factions of the Syrian revolt have received their first heavy weapons consignments, mostly Kornet and Fagot anti-tank missiles. Their improved armaments account for the new edge they display in battles with Bashar Assad’s army, although reports of their conquests are much exaggerated.

3. These arms are coming from two sources: radical Islamist organizations in Bosnia and Kosovo, some of them associated with al Qaeda – at least ideologically. It is hard to say who is organizing and bankrolling the new weapons sea route to Syria. According to one theory, it is the Albanian mafia.

4. For the first time, Syrian rebels are taking in arms unsupervised by any of the Western or Arab agencies involved in the Syrian revolt.

5. Most of the incoming weapons are destined for the Islamist Jabhat al-Nusra, the rebel faction identified with al Qaeda.

6. The Jabhat al-Nusra, newly armed with hardware from Bosnia and Kosovo, have pushed across the border into Lebanon, our sources reveal, and are harassing Hizballah in its home bases in the Beqaa Valley. Night after night in the last ten days, small bands of Islamist fighters, weighed down by heavy loads of rockets, are attacking Hizballah strongholds and isolated guard and watch posts and ambushing military vehicles.

Both are designated terrorist groups by the United States government.
The Syrian conflict has indeed spilled over the border into Lebanon. It is also turning more and more into a sectarian confrontation between extremist Sunnis and radical Shiites.

The development of nuclear weapons by Iran will change the balance of power irrevocably in the world. When people with unlimited ambitions of aggression get weapons of unlimited power, the demon is uncorked, and it’s happened before.

It is the greatest mistake to assume that people will behave rationally when they’re fundamentally irrational and when you give them the power of mass death. Iran is seeking the power of mass death, and it’s enough to see what they’re doing now to realize what they’ll do then. What they are doing now is conducting a worldwide web of brazen, unabashed terror across a dozen countries.

And they’re arming their poisoned tentacles of Hamas and Islamic Jihad and Hizbullah with tens of thousands of rockets and deadly weapons. They’re threatening not only the security of Israel but the security of every regime in the Middle East, and certainly the flow of oil from this region.

Certainly their development of nuclear weapons will spark a nuclear arms race. It will make the Middle East a nuclear tinderbox. It will change the world.

They’re getting closer to the red line that I had set at the UN. They’re building centrifuges that enrich the uranium needed to make nuclear bombs at three times the pace, so that they could cross that red line and get to a high enrichment of 90%-enriched uranium within a much shorter time.

Sanctions alone will not stop the nuclear program of Iran. They have to be coupled with a robust, credible military threat. If they are not, there’s no chance to stop it. And if it doesn’t stop it that way, then it will have to be stopped another way.

At the same time, Iran is working to place all of Lebanon under its control.

According to reliable sources, Hizbullah began last month to propose to Alawite officers in the Syrian army to seek refuge in Lebanon.

On one hand, the aim was to calm the growing concern of many Alawite officers that they may be tried as war criminals.

On the other hand, the offer aims at reinforcing the ranks of Hizbullah’s fighters with veteran Alawite officers with high combat experience.

Hizbullah is concentrating on Syrian officers that are experienced in the use of modern weapons systems, particularly Russian-made, long-range rockets and anti-aircraft missiles.

The US and Iran are exchanging tough messages these days regarding the negotiations on a possible solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis. Both countries are setting conditions for unprecedented direct talks between them. In international affairs this situation is referred to as “negotiations on the negotiations.”

During the recent international conference in Munich, Vice President Joe Biden said “There is still time, there is still space for diplomacy backed by pressure to succeed,” adding that “the ball is in the government of Iran’s court” to show that it is negotiating in good faith. Asked when the US would hold direct talks with Tehran, Biden replied: “When the Iranian leadership, the supreme leader (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei), is serious.”

Biden hinted that the previous rounds of nuclear negotiations were not serious because Iran was not willing to make any compromises and was merely trying to buy time while advancing toward a nuclear bomb. His message was clear: Washington will not agree to such talks and will not lift the sanctions only in exchange for Iran’s willingness to enter into negotiations.

Iran was quick to respond. Its most prominent spiritual leader, Khamenei, and its diplomatic leader, Ahmadinejad, said they were willing to negotiate on the condition that the US and the West “recognize Iran’s right” to enrich uranium and lift the heavy sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic. The US, of course, cannot accept these conditions, which thwart the negotiations before they even begin and pave the way for the speedy acquirement of a bomb.

It is very possible that the tough stance presented by Iran’s leaders stems from their interpretation of Obama’s new appointments. John Kerry is already secretary of state, and Chuck Hagel is the designated defense secretary. Both are Vietnam War veterans who oppose, in principle, the use of force in almost all cases.

In contrast to Hagel’s testimony during his Senate confirmation hearing, he was against imposing sanctions and using any force, claiming that Iran’s nuclear program could not be stopped anyway. During his testimony Hagel failed when he referred to the regime in Iran as “legitimate.” Iran’s leaders interpreted the nomination of Hagel and Kerry, as well as Biden’s invitation to negotiate, as signs of weakness that should be taken advantage of to advance the nuclear program and set stiff pre-conditions for the launching of negotiations.

The current deadlock threatens to ruin Obama’s strategy vis-à-vis Iran. He planned to impose harsh sanctions that would soften Iran’s stance and lead to direct negotiations that would have a good chance of stopping Tehran’s race towards a bomb. It turns out that the sides are pursuing two opposing goals: The US wants Iran to stop enriching uranium, while Iran wants the West to lift sanctions. In case negotiations are not held, Iran will continue to develop nuclear weapons and Obama will stand by his commitment to prevent it from obtaining these weapons, meaning he may find himself in a situation whereby only military action can prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb.

The diplomatic gunfire exchanged between the sides recently does not close the door on negotiations. The negotiations on the negotiations will continue in open and perhaps also in secret channels. During his upcoming visit to Israel, Obama will have to clarify what he plans to do in case sanctions and diplomacy fail to yield results.

The Libyan National Amazigh Congress notes the following:

“1. The rampant racist and discriminatory actions undertaken by the tyrant Mu’ammar Al-Qadhafi against the Libyan Amazigh people continue to be instigated deliberately, methodically and institutionally by the two Libyan interim prime ministers [Al-Keib and Ali Zaidan]…

This is a clear violation, both morally and legally, of Libya’s obligations following the 17 February revolution regarding the assertion of human rights and the implementation of its international obligations in conformity with the international human rights norms. These are the obligations which the highest authorities of the country pledged to honor at the relevant international gatherings.

“3. The prime ministers of the two interim governments and the speaker of the former NTC bear the full legal, moral and religious responsibility for the alarming consequences which will result from this racist and institutionalized practices against the Libyan Amazigh people.

[Committed] to Libya’s national unity and its territorial integrity and eager to spare the lives of innocent Libyan citizens who suffered terribly during the era of the tyrant and the revolution, the Libyan Amazigh have resorted to every peaceful and civilized means [in] demanding their just and legitimate rights. By now, however, they have exhausted all such means and are no longer capable of suffering further humiliation, particularly [considering] their key role in eliminating the dictator and freeing Libyans from injustice and tyranny.

[We] forcefully stress that the Libyan Amazigh people, who played a decisive role in the battle to liberate Libya from the tyrant, are capable of resorting to the use of force to respond to these racist and odious practices, and that they see all other options as legitimate in defend[ing] their human dignity and their natural rights which are being denied them.

“6. The aforementioned Libyan officials, and other officials who are in charge of sovereign ministries and administrative institutions, are fully responsible for the consequences of their racist and discriminatory practices against the Libyan Amazigh people.

Libyan civil society organizations, particularly those concerned with asserting human rights, bear part of the national responsibility for failing to show solidarity with their Libyan Amazigh brothers and practically for failing to express such solidarity. Tunisia, the cradle of the Arab Spring, is increasingly looking like the birthplace of jihadists. Evidence suggests it remains one of the top exporters of jihadists per capita.

Long before Tunisia ousted its dictator, the relatively prosperous country had the dubious distinction of exporting Islamic militants. Now, experts say the flow of fighters is getting worse.

Furthermore, the much more relaxed security approach of the country’s new leaders is allowing extremist groups and their networks to flourish like never before, experts say.

Tunisians have turned up on the battlefields of Iraq, Syria, Libya and now Mali. The militants who seized a gas plant in Algeria and took dozens of foreign workers hostage were more than one-third Tunisian.

Israel’s Challenging Diplomatic Predicament

In light of developments over the last few years, there has been a growing realization in Israel that the chances of reaching a complete final status agreement with the Palestinians are presently extremely small. This is not just an ideological position coming out of certain quarters in Israel, but it is also the professional view of practitioners who have been involved in the political process itself.

Yet there is a push underway to move forward with new negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians with the hope of concluding an agreement between them. British Foreign Secretary William Hague was just in Washington meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry where he called on the Obama administration “to inject the necessary momentum on this issue.” There was a diplomatic rumor in January that the Europeans wanted Kerry to put down on the table the parameters of a final settlement before Israel and the Palestinians, including a withdrawal to the 1967 lines.

Thus Israel finds itself in a paradoxical situation: just as international pressures are increasing for it to make new concessions in order to restart and advance the political process, there is growing realization in Israel that the kind of final status agreement that the international community is hoping will be concluded is not about to happen. The Palestinian side knows this as well.

Some try to make the argument that the conventional military threat to Israel is undergoing a transformation, allowing Israel to make the very sort of new concessions that the Europeans are demanding. With neighboring armies, like that of Syria, involved in domestic upheavals, their conventional forces have been badly degraded. Would that mean that Israel can withdraw from territories that in the past were regarded as vital but whose importance may have changed?

This would be an irresponsible conclusion. First of all, the Arab states are likely to build up their conventional armies again in the future once their internal political situation becomes more stable; already Egypt has no problem seeking 200 additional Abrams tanks from the U.S., which will bolster the strength of its armored forces. After all, decisiveness in wars is still a function of the movement of ground armies and their maneuver units, and not through the employment of airpower alone. America’s two wars against Iraq proved that point conclusively in 1991 and 2003.

The result of all this talk coming out of Europe about getting the U.S. to impose a solution will be completely self-defeating as it hardens the Palestinian readiness to come to the negotiating table – since Israel will be delivered on a silver platter anyway – and makes any real diplomatic progress more difficult than ever.

I have had quite a few people ask me about a prophecy they have heard about some prophetic buffs making a prediction about the identity of the last Pope. Since I have an interest as to who the next Pope MIGHT be, especially since some very recent articles about St. Malachy’s prophecy, concerning the final Pope before the Second Advent, I will present the appropriate part of his overall prophecy. The information which follows was extracted from the 1913 Edition of the Catholic Encyclopedia.

Malachy made 112 short announcements, which were to indicate some noticeable trait of the next 112 Popes who were to follow Celestine II, who was elected in the year 1130, during the time of Malachy. So far, as others have determined, all of the past Popes have exhibited the general trait of the mystical name assigned to them by Malachy.

I did not hear Malachy’s prophecy until 2003 and, quite frankly, do not have confidence in it, but since it is floating here and there in the “strange and stranger” category I am going to present it just for informational purposes. According to the predictions of Malachy, “The End” will begin with the end of the next Pope, so it is possible the next Pope, Number 112 is to finish “The End.” The last Pope, according to the prophecies of Malachy, is to be “Petrus Romanus,” of whom Malachy states the following:

“In the final persecution of the Holy Roman church there will reign Peter the Roman (Petrus Romanus), who will feed his flock amid tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful judge will judge his people.” Oddly enough, I do believe the seven-hilled city of Rome will indeed be judged and destroyed by the wrath of God, because I do believe it is the great Babylon of Revelation in Chapters 16 to 18.

Revelation 16:19B –And great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

Revelation 17:3,9,5,6,16,18 – So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. [9] And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. [5] And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. [6] And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. [16] And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. [17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. [18] And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

I do not believe Malachy was a prophet, nor do I think his prediction to be by the Spirit of God, nor do I think it is accurate, but it is interesting, and it seems that the spirits not of God do always seem to be quite expert at mingling truth and error, so perhaps there is some truth in it. If the next Pope is an Italian who takes the name “Petrus Romanus,” it will certainly be a pleasant surprise, but I doubt he would take that name. Since Satan is the world’s great religious counterfeiter, anything is possible.

Revelation 18:18,19 – And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city! [19] And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

John, in the book of Revelation, used numerous symbols, figures, and types to illustrate both the things of his day, and future events. At times, he used symbols to identify the nations of his day. He was exiled on Patmos, and was in no position to identify Rome in an unfavorable way.

At times John used symbols of his day to identify specific things, and then explained their future roles in the last days. One of these symbols was a woman in chapters 17 and 18. He identified her as existing in his day, and then proceeded to project her future role in the events of the last days. She was identified as a specific city in John’s writings in Revelation 17:18, where John states: “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” There was only one city in his day that could possibly fit this description, the great city of Rome.

In Revelation 17:7, John pictures this woman riding on a beast with 7 heads and 10 horns. The beast is emblematic of the Antichrist and his Empire of the last days. The 10 horns are 10 Islamic nations, who were once part of the old Roman Empire, which, at its greatest extent, stretched eastward across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, northern Sudan, Egypt, northern Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Iran. Rome is now putting its foot in the stirrups to initially mount the beast with the 10 horns.

The Pope, during his recent visit to Syria, fellowshipped with its top cleric, Sheik Ahmad Kuftaro. They walked together in the ancient Umayyah Mosque in Damascus. This was the first time in history that a pope of Rome had entered a Muslim mosque. The pope was personally welcomed by Syrian president Bashar al-Assad at the Damascus airport. In Assad’s speech, he accused Israel of violating justice, occupying Arab land, and attacking Christian and Muslim holy sites. In the pope’s address, he stated: “It is time to return to the principles of international legality; the banning of acquisition of territory by force.” Although he did not mention Israel by name, this appeared to be a reference to her. I expect closer political, religious, and economic ties to develop between Rome and the Islamic nations. However, in the final analysis, Rome will regret her end times linkage with Islam. After the beast has used the woman to favorably influence the western world to his cause, having no other use for her, he will allow his 10 horns to burn her numerous churches to the ground across all of Islam.

In Revelation 17:16, we are advised that the 10 horns, who represent 10 Islamic kings, “shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.” Most believe it is impossible for any sort of religious approval for Islam to be pursued by the Catholic church. However, when one compares the teachings of Catholics, Muslims, and Jews, one discovers that the Catholic and Islamic faiths, in some areas, are much closer than their connections with the Jewish faith.

Catholics use the Bible. Muslims use the Koran. Jews use the Old Testament. The comparisons between the Islamic and Catholic beliefs, concerning Christ and Mary are as follows: (1) They both believe Christ was born of a virgin named Mary. But the Jews do not. (2) They both believe Christ’s birth was announced to Mary by an Angel. The Jews do not. (3) They both believe Christ was a messenger sent by God. The Jews do not. (4) They both believe that John the Baptist was a messenger sent to announce Jesus as a messenger from God. The Jews do not. (5) They both view the apostles of Jesus as spreading the truth. The Jews do not. The major difference is one of supreme importance. The Catholics believe Jesus is the Son of God. The Muslims, in their Koran, clearly state that Allah, their one God, has decreed he will not have a son.

When John Paul II became the first pope to enter an Islamic mosque, while calling for brotherhood between Christians and Muslims, he unknowingly began to prepare the ride of the woman on the beast. By the time Israel is driven into the Negev wilderness, the woman will support the actions of the beast in recovering Arab lands.
