According to the Oxford Concise Dictionary of World Religions, the Evangelical Protestantism Movement emerged in Britain in the 1730s. The conversion of John Wesley in 1738 is often regarded as the start of the evangelical movement. Wesley was forced to preach out of doors and to eventually develop an organization of his own. From 1740 to 1800 evangelicals were drawn into the movement primarily from Wesleyan Methodists, Primitive Methodists, nonconformist Protestant bodies such as the Congregationalists, and from the Baptist groups. And it shocked many when the Evangelical Movement had spread to the Church of England by 1800. It was a movement of great emotional outbursts and feelings which affected virtually every corner of preaching and teaching.

Within the Evangelical Movement a different viewpoint arose in the teaching of prophecy, particularly in the interpretation of Daniel 9:27. I have diligently searched for any commentary published before 1740 that indicated the three “HE’S” in Daniel 9:27 were the antichrist, and have not found a single one. I am not saying one does not exist, but I have been looking for years, and have never found one. All publications before 1740 clearly identified the three “HE’S” as Jesus Christ, “the Messiah the Prince,” or as Antiochus Epiphanes. It has stunned me as to how much of our teaching today about the antichrist is all tied back to the belief that the antichrist is the one referred to in Daniel 9:27. I beg of you to take a good look at the series on the 70 Weeks of Daniel exposition I am now presenting in Parts. Even if you think it is hogwash, please carefully read all the Parts . If it is correct, it will help you to understand what is going on when the antichrist does not follow the pattern currently taught in most religious circles. If it is wrong, it will have done you no harm, but please read it. I have no ulterior motive for gain in presenting it to you.

My motive is a very simple one. I am an 80 year old man who is living past his allotted time, and I am very concerned that many are going to be confused when prophetic events suddenly conclude in a manner quite different from what they expect. For better or for worse, I believe the religious world took a wrong turn in prophetic teaching in 1740, and that many believe what is erroneously tied back to the antichrist representing the three “HE’S” in Daniel 9:27. It makes a terrific difference in the way the end days in which we now live will come down.

Daniel 9:27 – And HE shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week HE shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations HE shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

I fully exposited on Daniel 9:24 in Part 1 of the previous Blog, establishing how Daniel had learned, from Jeremiah’s writings, that seventy weeks of years were determined upon the people of Israel and their holy city Jerusalem. Under Daniel’s formula for the period, each one of Jeremiah’s seventy years was equal to seven years, and he identified each seven year period as one week of years (So 7 X 70 = 490 years or 70 weeks of years). In verse 25 he gives us a starting point for his prophetic clock to begin ticking toward a countdown of 490 years or 70 weeks of years.

Daniel 9:25 – Know therefore and understand, that FROM the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem UNTO the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

The 490 year time clock was to start ticking when “the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem” was issued. However, there were four different proclamations issued by three Persian kings:

1. The Decree of Cyrus in 536 B.C.

2. The Decree of Darius Hystaspes in 519 B.C.

3. The first Decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus in 457 B.C.

4. The second Decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus in 445 B.C.

The Scripture indicated that FROM the time the commandment (decree) was issued UNTIL the Messiah the Prince arrived, would be 69 weeks of years or 483 years (7 weeks + 62 weeks = 69 weeks of years) ( 7 X 69 = 483 years)

Now, some problems arise in the establishment of historical dates that begin at “FROM” and end at “UNTIL” – Are these prophetic years or calendar years – How are they affected by corrections to the Gentile calendars by Rome – And how are they affected by the lunar calendar used by the Hebrews? All these things make it difficult to decide which one of the four decrees applies to Daniel 9:25. Was Daniel indicating solar years of 365.25 or prophetic lunar years of 360 days? Most likely he meant years of 360 days.

Which one of the four decrees was the one that Daniel indicated in his prophecy? The decree of Cyrus in 536 B.C. was limited to the building of the Temple. The decree of Darius Hystaspes was also limited to the building of the Temple. The first decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus in 457 B.C. demonstrated a larger range of granting authority to carry out all that needed to be done, much more than the two decrees before it. His second decree in 445 B.C. is also very specific in its instruction and authority to rebuild Jerusalem. So, we are able, because of the lack of reference “to restore and to build Jerusalem” in the first two decrees, to say that it must be one of the two issued by Artaxerxes Longimanus in 457 B. C. and 445 B.C.

If Daniel’s prophecy is based on our present calendar year, which I doubt, then FROM the time Artaxerxes first decree was issued in 457 B.C. until the baptism of Jesus the Messiah in 27 A.D., would be 483 years or 69 weeks. This was the viewpoint held by the great Baptist Bible expositor B.H. Carroll in the late eighteen hundreds and early nineteen hundreds. But Dr. Carroll makes this statement in his writings on Daniel 9:25, when dealing with prophetic years of 360 days: “Hengstenberg, on the other hand, while agreeing with the second decree of 445 B.C., controverts the theory of a year of 360 days, and contests the date usually accepted (445 B.C.). By an elaborate historical argument of great plausibility he seeks to prove that the 20th year of Artaxerxes Longimanus falls on the date 455 B.C. and then, by adding 483 years, Hengstenberg puts Christ’s acknowledgment by His Father, at His baptism, as the true coming of Messiah the Prince.” Sir Robert Anderson has two books on Daniel, “The Coming Prince” and “Daniel in the Critic’s Den.” He uses the usually accepted debt of 445 B.C. and articulates a strong time sequence to prove his conclusions.

Now, please allow me to state my conclusions. I was taught certain things about Daniel 9:24-27 by many old preachers who are now at home with the Lord. Many of them were born in the 19th century and lived into the thirties, forties, and fifties of the 20th. In northern Arkansas where I was raised, these old fellows read after the leading Baptist theologians of their day from books they had procured from old book stores or the libraries of older preachers when they died. Some of these books were written in the late 18th and early 19th century, and they finally just worn out and fell apart from constant use. They didn’t have opportunity to attend a seminary, but they were diligent in reading the works of the Baptists who did. These are the men who first taught me prophecy many years before I graduated from seminaries, colleges, and universities. In the weeks to come, Lord willing, I am going to pass on to you what they taught me, and you may be surprised. Now, in all honesty, before God and man, I believe it was 483 years “FROM” the decree “UNTO” the baptism of Jesus, when he began His earthly ministry. I accept it by faith in God’s word. The problem is not with the Word of God, it is with the human setting of the time of the proper decree.

My main reason for writing such a lengthy discourse was to show how difficult it is to absolutely fix the precise date the proclamation was issued to which Daniel referred. BUT I AM DELIGHTED TO TELL YOU THAT WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT CAN BE PROVEN BY A SINGLE WORD, THE WORD “AFTER” IN DANIEL 9:26A.

Daniel 9:25,26A – Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. [26] And AFTER threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: (The 7 weeks is understood in Hebrew literary style to also be added to the 62 in verse 26 so as to avoid redundancy in a flowing chronological sequence of events, i.e. AFTER 69 weeks. Otherwise, Messiah would have been cut off before he was born.)

The Hebrew word used for “AFTER” is “ACHAR,” which means, in context, “AFTERWARD.” This same word “ACHAR” is used in the following Scriptures.

Jeremiah 31:33 – But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; AFTER those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Joel 2:28 – And it shall come to pass AFTERWARD, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

Hosea 3:5 – AFTERWARD shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his goodness in the latter days.

Hosea 6:2 – AFTER two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

The vast majority of prophetic expositors today claim that Messiah was cut off, crucified, to END the 69th week, bringing the hands of Daniel’s clock to a standstill, and that we have a full week of seven years waiting to be fulfilled when it begins to tick again, but that cannot be true since Christ was crucified AFTER the 69th week during the 70th week, leaving less than seven years to be fulfilled.

The significance of the placement of “AFTER” in Daniel 9:26A cannot be overemphasized. Why? Because it definitely states that Messiah would not be cut off to END the 69th week, but would be crucified “AFTER” it, at some time in the 70th week. The clock of Daniel stopped ticking at some time in the final 70th week. So when was Jesus cut off by crucifixion in the 70th week? The answer is of the utmost importance. I know we have less than seven years once the clock starts to tick again, but how much less do we have? It has to be less than 2520 days, but more than 1260 days, We will proceed into verses 26 & 27 in future blogs to find the answers to these questions, Lord willing.

Isaiah 26:17 to 27:1 – Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Lord. [18] We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen. [19] Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Malachi 4:1-3 – For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. [2] But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. [3] And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

Micah 7:16-20 – The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf. [17] They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the Lord our God, and shall fear because of thee. [18] Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. [19] He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. [20] Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

There is a very appealing message in the last 3 verses preceding Malachi 4 for those who fear the Lord, speak often of him, and assemble together often to worship him in Spirit and in Truth. They are the Lord’s servants he will judge to be his jewels.

Malachi 3:16-18 – Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. [17] And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. [18] Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Last week in Cairo, seven U.S. senators had a highly contentious meeting with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi during which the Muslim Brotherhood leader implied that he was the victim of an American media run by the Jews.

The 90-minute meeting devolved into an uncomfortable set of exchanges as the senators pressed the Egyptian president to explain his 2010 comments describing Jews as “bloodsuckers who attack Palestinians” as well as “the descendants of apes and pigs.”

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) quoted Morsi as saying: “We all know that the media in the United States has made a big deal of this and we know the media of the United States is controlled by certain forces and they don’t view me favorably.”

“He did not say [the Jews], but I watched as the other senators physically recoiled, as did I,” Coons said. “I thought it was impossible to draw any other conclusion.”

Israelis’ preoccupations have shifted and, perhaps in an unconscious echo of Barack Obama’s declared priorities for America, they want their leaders to focus on “nation-building at home.”

So to the question that most non-Israelis are asking – “What do the elections mean for the Israeli-Palestinian peace process?” – the answer is, “Not much.”

As a result, the next Israeli government will almost certainly not undertake any major new initiative on the peace process. Its leaders will not be pushed by public opinion to become more proactive.

Finally, nothing Obama does on this issue can be effective unless it fully complements a visible redefinition by the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, of the purpose of the process.

Only Abbas can dispel the sense of pointlessness – by clearly communicating that positive movement will culminate not just in Israeli concessions on territory but also in a definitive termination of the conflict, the renunciation of any further claims, and the peaceful coexistence of two states for two peoples.

Atomic War in Israel – Yes or No? – Number 2

More than a year ago I issued Special Prophecy Update Number 129C, titled “Atomic War in Israel, Yes or No?” I would like to reaffirm my belief in its validity in Number 2.

The original Update 129C, issued July 23, 2003, was as follows:

“One of the main reasons I wrote three books on prophecy in the late seventies and early eighties was to establish a case advocated by teachers of the pre-World War II era. It was, simply stated, that man would not destroy the earth with his weaponry, but rather that God would destroy the earth by the use of this own power. I am certain that the horrifying changes in the topography of Israel, as well as the terrifying destruction of the antichrist’s forces at Armageddon, are by the awesome power of God, not atomic, chemical, or biological weapons of man. The lifting of the land from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem, the breaking up of Jerusalem into three sections, the splitting of the Mount of Olives, and the consuming of the flesh, tongues, and eyes of the antichrist’s men are natural phenomena unleashed by God, not by man. All the Scriptures dealing with these phenomena unleashed by God are covered in Birth Pang and Prophecy Archives.

There are many advocates of a great atomic, chemical, and biological war in Israel when the antichrist attacks 1260 days before Armageddon. It might happen at the time of Armageddon, but the initial attack will start what amounts to a non-nuclear, non-chemical, and non-biological war. So why am I so confident and outspoken about this being the case?

Israel has numerous extremely well concealed missile sites in the Negev between Beersheba and the Gulf of Aqabah.

(1) It has more than 300 nuclear, chemical, and biological warheads to mount on Jericho missiles.

(2) The Jericho is a very accurate missile, and can hit a target in any Islamic country from Morocco to Pakistan and from Turkey to Yemen.

(3) Israel has an excellent anti-missile defense to protect its array of silos, warheads, and missiles. It is able to pick up an incoming enemy missile launched from Syria before it reaches it maximum altitude.

(4) So why do I believe this array of WMD will not be unleashed by Israel when it is attacked? Because the Israeli War Contingency Plan of Israel directs that WMD will not be launched against a foreign nation unless they are first launched against Israel.

(5) So how do I know the Islamic countries will not launch WMD in their initial attack? All of them are well aware of what is listed in (1) through (5)! The former Soviet Union, which it existed, shared Israeli intelligence information with Syria, which it collected over a long period of time from its hundreds of spy satellites it launched from pads between Moscow and the White Sea, and on the eastern side of the Aral Sea. Syria, in turn, has shared it with some of the other Islamic countries around Israel. Only a leader possessed of rank insanity would ever launch WMD first against Israel, which is why I was so relieved when Saddam Hussein was taken out of the way.

Many believe the United States will quickly rush to the aid of Israel, and, as the world’s greatest power, will immediately deliver her from any kind of attack she can’t handle. There are two problems with this idea: (1) The United States believes Israel can defeat any Islamic attack on its own without any help from us. After all, Israel has easily done so in three previous wars and, (2) This will be a lightning Jihad, and better coordinated than any of the previous wars, and this time Israel will have a Palestinian state attacking it from within, while the other Islamic nations come in from outside its borders. It will probably last less than a couple of weeks, and Jerusalem is likely to fall within four days. By the time we decide they must have our help it will be too late, because they will have occupied most of the land from Dan to Beersheba. It would take months, as it did in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Freedom Iraq, to get enough American troops on the ground to do any good.

What was the character of Israel’s past three wars? They were all very short in duration, and they all ended abruptly in a truce. That will be the case in this war. The United States knows that the Negev is the place where Israel will flee. When we believe they are safely in the Negev, we will be more than willing to accept a truce to give us time to think about what to do, and Israel will remain trapped in the Negev for some three and one-half years.

Since Update 129C was issued, several noteworthy things have come to pass that reduce the likelihood of a nuclear war in the Middle East. The area is headed toward a situation where both sides will realize a nuclear war would leave the victor, or victors, in such a powerless state, that any future they might have would be desolate, and leave them in a position of great vulnerability to the rest of the oil consuming nations. Some of these noteworthy recent events, which would tend to create a standoff, such as the one that developed between the United States and the once mighty Soviet Union, are as follows:

(1) Syria now has a better Scud than the Scud B. The Scud D missile, considered to be the most sophisticated weapon of its kind, is now in the hands of the Syrian military. It is able to deliver nuclear, chemical, or biological multiple warheads to their targets in Israel from Syria.

(2) The jointly developed American-Israeli Arrow 2 missile successfully launched an Arrow 2 missile that destroyed a Scud B over the Pacific Ocean earlier this year. The Arrow 2 is designed to intercept an enemy missile before it reaches its peak altitude, far from Israeli territory. However, in a recent test against the Scud D, it failed to intercept the detached warhead. It was not a complete failure, and the results are in the process of being analyzed. Israel says it can still effectively destroy the Scud D.

(3) Syria also maintains a sizeable ballistic missile arsenal and, like Iran, is active in upgrading and expanding its capabilities.

(4) In June Iran announced it is building its first stealth missile, a rocket that can evade electronic detection. The missile was named Kowsar, in honor of the Kowsar river in paradise, which is found in the Koran, the Holy Book of Islam. Iran announced it would be capable of hitting ships and aircraft.

(5) Iran is continuing to steam toward development of its own nuclear bomb, which many believe it could develop as early as next year. It is now going underground, and spreading out its nuclear development sites in order to limit the damage that could be incurred by an Israeli air strike, like the one carried out on Iraq’s nuclear facility in 1981.

(6) Iran is manufacturing various missiles, chief among them being the Shahab-3, whose range of 1300 km (793 mi) allows it to reach Israel. It is designed to carry up to a 700-kilogram conventional warhead. But the Iranians are currently developing the Shihab 4 and 5, with ranges of 3000 km (1830 mi) and 6000 km (3660 mi), which puts all of Europe in its sights, and these both missiles will be able to carry chemical, nuclear, and biological weapons.

(7) At the same time that Iran and Syria are attempting to manufacture weapons of mass destructions, and the missiles to deliver them, they are also building up their conventional arsenal of weapons. Iran has been making its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, and fighter planes, inside its own borders for some time. They have been guided by the designs of weaponry supplied to them by North Korea, Russia, and even China in both their conventional and non-conventional programs of weaponry development. The huge payments from the Iranian oil money have, for some time, helped to keep the Russian Economy afloat, and the North Korean economy from completely collapsing.

I do not believe there will be a nuclear, biological or chemical war in the Middle East. I have long been convinced of this. It will be a great war, but only conventional weapons will be used. I will not rule out the possibility of some being used at Armageddon, but I really don’t believe they will be launched even them.

It is no secret that, if left unchecked, Iran is determined to become a global nuclear power with long range nuclear missiles that could strike Europe, plus NATO and American forces within a 3600 mile radius, and the United States and Israel are determined to not let that happen.

Russia lifts nationals out of Syria. Moscow, Iran arm Assad for major armored push

The Russian emergency ministry said Monday, Jan. 21 that it is sending two planes to Beirut to evacuate 100 Russians from Syria – the first such effort since the uprising against Bashar Assad began in March 2011. Moscow also announced contingency plans to lift 30,000 Russian nationals from the embattled country.

This evacuation of Russian nationals starting Tuesday was decided after the Syrian high command received orders from President Assad to organize mobile armored strike groups with massive fire power for a big push to run the rebel forces out of the towns, villages and areas they have captured, mostly in the north and southeast.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that, because they are in a hurry, the Syrian army chiefs decided to use only seasoned officers and men with experience in active service against the rebels, rather than new recruits who would need weeks of combat training. The divisions or brigades holding the line in such trouble spots as Aleppo, Homs and Deraa, are being depleted, some of their units detached for service in the new armored strike groups.

Our sources report that Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps officers are supervising the effort for what Assad sees as his biggest assault yet to finally crush the revolt against his regime.

Its timing marks two fundamental developments in Syria’s bloody civil war:

1. The self-confidence of Assad and his top military staff is gaining in direct contrast to the weakening of the insurgency. It was therefore decided in Damascus that the time was ripe for a major offensive to push the rebels out of the strategic areas from which they could threaten central government.

2. Western-Arab arms supplies to the rebels have slowed down steeply because the funding from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAR has dried up. The high-grade weapons still in rebel hands were mostly looted from Syrian army bases and stores.

3.According to DEBKAfile’s military sources, Russian officials up to the level of President Vladimir Putin examined the Iranian-Syrian armored strike group tactics and approved.

These developments, according to Western intelligence sources familiar with the Syrian situation, explain the recently intensified coordination between Moscow, Tehran and Damascus and the resulting accelerated flow of Russian and Iranian weapons to the Syrian army.

Russian arms ships are lining up at the Syrian port of Tartus to unload their freights, while Iranian air transports are touching down and taking off at speed from Damascus and Aleppo military airports.

Arms deliveries are coming in aboard large Russian naval vessels, including the Azov and Aklexander Shabalin landing craft, the amphibious Kaliningrad and others.

To camouflage heir rapid movements in and out of Tartus, the Russian navy Sunday, Jan. 20, announced a large-scale sea maneuver would take place in the Mediterranean up until Jan. 29. None of the ships taking part in the drill were identified except to say that they came from Russia’s Baltic, North and Black Sea fleets.

Our military sources report that the Russian deliveries consist mainly of armored vehicles, self-propelling recoilless guns, all-purpose vehicles for rough terrain and a variety of missiles and rockets for combat in built-up areas – all items clearly designed to outfit Assad’s new armored strike units.

Tehran, for its part, is sending ammo, spare parts for Syrian tanks and artillery and missiles.

According to those sources, the Syrian army plans to kick off its new offensive at Daraya, a small town near Damascus which is held by the Free Syrian Army.

The Jordanian parliamentary election scheduled for Wednesday represents another missed opportunity for the regime of King Abdullah II. The electoral system is engineered to block the two political forces most threatening to the regime: the Muslim Brotherhood and Palestinians, who outnumber Jordan’s native population. Gerrymandered districts that leave Palestinian areas underrepresented, and a limitation of party lists to 27 of the parliament’s 150 seats, ensure that local tribal leaders will once again predominate in the assembly.

The idea that autocracy can survive in a country that borders Israel and Iraq as well as Syria is a delusion. If change in Jordan does not soon come from the palace, it will come from the street. (Washington Post)

To build a viable government, Netanyahu needs Lapid

Confronted by disappointing election results, outgoing Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu inevitably announced that Israeli needs a government as broadly based as possible and he has embarked on the task of building one. With his Likud-Beitenu bloc in command of only 31 out of 120 Knesset seats, he must build a government from a large number of scrappy parties. But above all, the new landscape Netanyahu faces is dominated by newcomer Yair Lapid, a former journalist and broadcaster, an avowed centrist with no former political or administrative experience. The voter awarded his Future party, an unknown quantity, a brilliant 19 seats.

Lapid has therefore strongly upstaged Labor’s Shelley Yacimovitch, who ran for election as alternative prime minister and ended up with only 15 seats. She now promises to lead a fighting opposition in the 19th Knesset elected Tuesday, Jan. 22. This pledge may not be her last word either. Lapid has been catapulted into position for determining whether Netanyahu commands a majority government or a bloc in deadlock with a left-of-center-plus-Arab bloc, aimed for by the Labor leader.

The official election results to be published Thursday morning may break this deadlock one way or the other.

Still to be counted are the “double envelopes” including the army ballots. The military turnout was 80 percent, much higher than the national figure of 66.6 percent of 5.6 eligible voters.

Lapid’s first comment indicated he was open to joining a Netanyahu government on certain terms – namely, policy changes. Netanyahu, whose combined Likud-Israel Beitenu alliance shed one-third of its parliamentary strength, may well opt for an initial deal with Lapid’s Future on the key issues of budget, security, peace talks, the social gap, national service for Yeshiva seminarists and perks for the middle class, to gain a 50-seat foundation for his new lineup. This foundation and an agreed set of guidelines would arm Netanyahu with a solid starting- point for horse-trading with additional partners for completing the coalition.

Netanyahu’s alternative to this strategy is to call a new election in short order. He hinted that this was on the cards when he first saw his party’s letdown, but by now must realize that there was no guarantee another vote would offer him a better outcome than this one.

The Future leader faces the enormous challenge of being jumped into high authority in the face of grim challenges with no experience in government or even parliament. He must at the same time whip his equally inexperienced faction into a functioning ruling party and choose which takes up ministerial posts for working alongside the vastly more experienced Likud ministers. Lapid’s failure to raise his fledging party to maturity and hold it together will shorten its life span and send it the way of so many nascent partisan groups in the past.

Naftali Bennett’s Jewish Home, which would have been Netanyahu’s natural senior partner had the Israeli voter given him the same chance as Lapid instead of only 11 seats, will no doubt soon join the new government lineup. Like Lapid, he too is a tyro in government and politics.

On the other hand, Netanyahu, the most experienced Israeli politician of his day, is responsible for innumerable missteps in almost every field in the last two years of his term in office – culminating in his bungled campaign tactics. But for the country, having to get used to new, unknown faces in politics, ready to usher in the next era in Israel’s history, may not be a bad thing. In the natural order of things, they may start the process of easing the old school out.

Part 1

Netanyahu has just been reelected as Israeli Prime minister but has lost several seats in his political party, which will make it difficult to form a majority government and, even when he does, it will be a slim majority. Netanyahu will be fighting Obama, opposition in the Knesset, Islam, China, Russia. and most of the International Community, which will make it difficult to attack the Iranian Nuclear Sites.

Netanyahu will be forced to have a large number in his new government which do not favor a strike on Iran and also desire to revive peace talks with the Palestinians.

During the Administration which follows Obama’s last four years in office I believe the Antichrist will be revealed as he performs the following events 1 through 5.

1. Antichrist will suddenly attack Israel, leading 10 Arab nations in a vicious surprise Jihad from the north out of Syria and Lebanon.

2. Two-thirds of the Israeli population will perish in the attack.

3. Jerusalem will fall to the Arab nations.

4. The Arab nations will take the land from Dan to Beersheba.

5. One-third of Israel will flee into the Negev Wilderness, where it will remain under a truce for some three and one-half years.

(1) Daniel 11:41a – He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown:

(2) Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. (See Archive Prophecy Update 93)

(3) Zechariah 14:1,2 – Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. [2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

(4) & (5) Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Since I hold to the prophetic interpretation all the publications prior to 1740 put forth concerning the “he” in Daniel 9:27, I am concerned that a lot of believers are going to be in shock when all this suddenly begins to occur without a prolonged period of an antichrist arising in Europe, without a written peace treaty that lasts three and one half years, and a lot of other prophetic interpretations by TV prophetic experts that give the impression we have a long time before all this begins to happen. I am concerned about this to the extent that I am going to repeat what I believe about Daniel’s Prophecy of the 70 Weeks of Years. I hope you will consider it, even if you don’t believe it. If it is correct, then it would be beneficial to you when it happened. What follows is Part I of a series that will be issued on the Blog during January and February, Lord willing.

PART 1 IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROPHESIED EVENTS NOW FULFILLED BY JESUS AT HIS 1ND ADVENT AND THOSE HE WILL FUFILL AT HIS 2ND.

God revealed to Daniel that Jeremiah’s prophecy of seventy years of captivity, which would accomplish the desolation of Jerusalem, had a secondary interpretation involving a much longer period of time.

Daniel 9:1,2 – In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans; [2] In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

Then, from 9:24 through 9:27, Daniel unveils the events of a lengthy time period that would affect Israel and the holy city of Jerusalem for 490 years (7 X 70 years). He understands each year of Jeremiah’s prophecy to be equal to seven years, and identifies each period of seven years as one week.

Daniel 9:24 – Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

The contextual subject of this entire discourse involves the activity of “the Messiah the Prince,” Jesus Christ, up to the time of his cutting off in the midst of the last week, and the events which will again involve him as the last part of that week is set in motion when Daniel’s clock begins to tick again. The Holy City will again be overrun from the north by the troops of the antichrist, as it was by Titus in AD 70. I have never found any pre-1740 commentary on the Bible that identified the “he” of Daniel 9:27 as the antichrist. They were unanimous in identifying the “he” as Jesus Christ or Antiochus Epiphanes, and I am convinced that Jesus Christ is the correct interpretation.

During the prophetic period of 490 years, Daniel predicted in 9:24 the following events would be carried out by “the Messiah the Prince” of 9:25.

(1) Messiah finishes believer’s condemning transgression against God.

(2) Messiah ends believer’s condemning sins against God.

(3) Messiah completes believer’s reconciliation to God for iniquity.

(4) Messiah brings in everlasting righteousness.

(5) Daniel’s vision of 9:22-24, and its prophecies, would be completed as the 490 years ended at Messiah’s Second Advent.

(6) The Messiah’s anointing would end the period of 490 years.

Four of these events have already been fulfilled by Messiah the Prince, Jesus Christ, and the last two will be completed at his Second Advent. These events, and Scriptures associated with their fulfillment follow:

(1) Messiah finishes believer’s condemning transgression against God.

John 19:30 + Isaiah 53:12 – When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. [12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

(2) Messiah ends believer’s condemning sins against God.

I Peter 2:24 + Isaiah 53:10 – Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. [10] Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

(3) Messiah completes believer’s reconciliation to God for iniquity.

II Corinthians 5:19 + Isaiah 53:11 – To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. [11] He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

(4) Messiah brings in everlasting righteousness for believers.

Romans 4:3-8 + Isaiah 55:3-5 – For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. [4] Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. [5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. [6] Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, [7] Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. [8] Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. [3] Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. [4] Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. [5] Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.

(5) Daniel’s vision of 9:22-24 will be completed as the 490 years end at Messiah’s Second Advent.

Daniel 12:1-4,8-10 + Revelation 11:15,18 & 16:16,17 – And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. [2] And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. [4] But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. [8] And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? [9] And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. [10] Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. [15] And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. [16] And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. [17] And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

(6) The anointing of the Messiah, the most Holy One, ends the period of 490 years.

Ezekiel 39:7,9 – So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. [8] Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord God; this is the day whereof I have spoken. [28] Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. [29] Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.

(7) And this is the anointing of the Holy of Holies by the most Holy Anointed One, Jesus Christ, as he enters the Millennial Temple.

Ezekiel 43:1-7 – Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east: [2] And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory. [3] And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face. [4] And the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. [5] So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house. [6] And I heard him speaking unto me out of the house; and the man stood by me. [7] And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.

The Isolationism Policy is the name commonly given to the policy of avoidance. The US practiced isolationism in the 30’s. The majority of the US public did not want to get involved. After WW-1 the people of the US did not want to become entangled in the affairs of Europe again. The US wanted to remain isolated from the rest of the world, and the US Democratic Party strengthened the Foreign Policy of Isolationism during the first term of the Roosevelt Presidency. This Isolation Policy led Germany, Italy, and Japan to believe they could build up their military power and then conquer the nations near them without interference from the US.

It is apparent from the first four years of President Obama’s Foreign Policies that his personal policy has been to develop a plan of isolationism to satisfy his liberal democratic political base. He has chosen a policy of non-interference in militant terrorist buildups, activities of terrorist clans in Arab Spring uprisings, and financial assistance to enemies.

The next four years will see the greatest crusade ever manifested by a US President to lead America as a social reformer into the chaos of social equalization by executive order.

American Isolationism: Obama’s unfolding signature policy

Whereas in his first term as president, Barack Obama opted for “leading from behind,” in international military operations, he enters his second term – even before being sworn in this week – by expanding this step-back precept into American isolationism proper – even when it comes to countering Islamist terrorism.

DEBKAfile’s analysts note that this stance was heralded in December 2012 by his abrupt order to the USS Eisenhower strike group and the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group to withdraw from stations opposite Syria.

Washington had already then decided to ignore the Syrian chemical war threat, and brush aside the report from the US consul in Istanbul that the Syrian ruler Bashad Assad had already fired chemical bombs against rebels.

And so French military intervention in Mali on Jan. 12 and Al Qaeda’s massive attack on an international Algerian gas field four days later found the United States without a single carrier, landing vessel or marine force anywhere in the vicinity, to be available for aiding in the rescue of scores of Western hostages from ten countries, including the United States.

The USS John Stennis carrier is the only vessel left at a Middle East battle station. It is tied down at the Strait of Hormuz to secure the flow of Gulf oil to the West.

It is therefore hardly surprising to find Pentagon and top US military experts leveling sharp criticism at the White House’s policy of non-intervention in the Mali conflict, where France is fighting alone, or in Algeria’s In Amenas gas field, where Algerian forces are battling a multinational al Qaeda assault and multiple hostage-taking raid for the third day.

The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday, Jan. 20 that the sharp debate between the Pentagon and White House is over the “danger posed by a mix of Islamist militant groups, some with murky ties to Al Qaeda that are creating havoc in West Africa” and whether they present enough of a risk to US allies and interests to warrant a military response.

Many of Obama’s top aides say “it is unclear whether the Mali insurgents, who include members of the group Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, or AQIM, threaten the US.”

As to the question, “What threat do they pose to the US homeland? The answer so far has been none.”

Some top Pentagon officials and military officers warn that without more aggressive US action, Mali could become a haven for extremists, akin to Afghanistan before the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

DEBKAfile’s counterterrorism sources report that these assertions are misleading.

Whereas the US homeland may not be in immediate peril from the Mali and Algeria episodes, it is important to remember the far-reaching inter-connectivity of al Qaeda’s operations. Seven years ago, the suicidal jihads who on July 7, blew up London trains and a bus, used explosives provided by the same Al Qaeda cells of Sahel Desert which are now threatening Mali and which struck the Algerian gas field.

No US official can guarantee that such explosives from the same source won’t be used in 2013 against American targets in Europe or be smuggled into the American homeland by al Qaeda cells in Europe.

The Algerian gas field hostage siege was carried out after all by a multi-national group that included Algerians, Egyptians, Tunisians, Libyans, a Frenchman and a Malian.

It is true that Al Qaeda terrorists are engaged in vast smuggling rackets – especially of drugs and cigarettes – across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, as well arms trafficking through networks covering Egypt, Sinai, Arabia, the Gulf, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Sudan – all of which are direct threats of US national security. But to write them off as criminals and smugglers is simplistic: “… some are diehard terrorists with more grandiose visions,” as Pentagon officials point out.

The way the Al Qaeda menace is being handled by Washington has a ripple effect in the wider context. Tehran and Damascus are avidly watching the Obama administration’s stand-aside stance on military involvement in external crises – even emergencies posed by the Al Qaeda terrorist threat encroaching on continental Europe and Africa and the Middle East up to and including the Persian Gulf.

Washington should therefore not be surprised when its diplomatic efforts – overt and secret – to rein in Iran’s military nuclear ambitions run into the sand. The Iranians know they have nothing to fear from the Obama administration. The next surprise, our Middle East sources are now reporting, will come from Damascus where, according to a hint President Bashar Assad threw out this week to his intimates.
