Some nontransparent talks have intermittently held since the first year of Obama’a first term, but without success. However, on a live microphone unknown to him, he was heard to whisper to the Russian President that “he would be able to be more flexible in negotiations after he was reelected.”

I prepared this current Blog to put up on October 31, 2012, but I have sometimes been uncertain about diplomatic dialogue between Iran and Obama due to changes on both sides as to the validity of what was said, and how both sides interpreted it, I did not issue in October for this reason, but decided to hold it until I received more information. I received a DEBKAfile Report on September 8.

Israel’s Barak Says Iran Has Pulled Back from the Brink of Nuclear Weapon – For Now

Iran has drawn back from its ambition to build a nuclear weapon but the respite is only temporary and Tehran will still have to be confronted by next summer, Ehud Barak, the Israeli defense minister, said on Tuesday.

A crisis was avoided in the summer when Iran quietly chose to use over a third of its medium-enriched uranium for civilian purposes, delaying the moment when it could have built a nuclear bomb, Barak told the Daily Telegraph.

Iran delayed the “moment of truth” by “eight to 10 months,” but Barak predicted that sanctions and diplomacy would still fail to resolve the stand-off. If so, he said that Israel and its allies would probably face the decision over whether to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities in 2013.

He noted that during the past five years Tehran’s stockpile of enriched uranium had grown from 850 kg. to 6.8 tons.

Israel reserved the right to act alone, added Barak, who stated that any “operation against Iran” would be less dangerous “now” than when the country had crossed the nuclear threshold.

In his interview, Ehud Barak, Israel’s defense minister, argues that Iran’s decision to consign a proportion of its enriched uranium stockpile to civilian use has averted a crisis. But that is only half the story. Iran still possesses significant quantities of enriched uranium, which could be used for a nuclear weapons program.

The ayatollahs may have decided to give themselves some breathing space by playing along with the IAEA’s demands, with the aim of returning to their nuclear weapons program once the international pressure has eased.

But that would be a grave miscalculation. The stand-off between Iran and the Western powers is unlikely to be resolved so long as Tehran fails to provide satisfactory guarantees that its remaining stockpiles of enriched uranium are for peaceful purposes, and not for making atomic bombs.

After winning a second White House term, US President Barack Obama aims to start direct, fast-track nuclear talks with Tehran as soon as December, even before his January swearing-in, on the assumption that Iran’s window of opportunity is very narrow – just three months, DEBKAfile’s Washington sources disclose. White House go-betweens with the office of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warn that Iran’s campaign for the June 14 presidential election gets going in March. After than, it is estimated in Washington, that Khamenei, whose ill health keeps his working-day short, will be fully absorbed in a struggle to purge Iran’s political hierarchy of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his clique.

But Tehran would prefer nuclear diplomacy to be delayed for eight months until after that election. “We waited for the US election campaign to be over, so why shouldn’t the Americans wait for ours?” a senior Iranian official asked rhetorically.

For now, the supreme leader is looking for a suitable candidate for the presidency. This time, the supreme leader is not expected to make the mistake of choosing a charismatic, ambitious and competent figure like Ahmadinejad, but rather one who is satisfied with acting as a representative titular figure and play second fiddle to Khamenei whose bureau will administer the executive branch of government.

The supreme leader is believed in Washington to be weighing another alternative: having parliament abolish the post of president and transferring its powers to the new post of prime minister, who would be chosen from among the 290 Majlis lawmakers.

Speaker Ali Larijani and his brother, head of the judiciary Sadeq Larijani, have in the past year performed the spadework of sidelining Ahmadinejad’s parliamentary faction.

Ali Larijani himself is a front-runner for the job of Revolutionary Iran’s first prime minister.

The view in Washington today is that if nuclear talks do start in December and roll on into March, Khamenei will be compelled to cut the process short to escape potential accusations led by Ahmadinejad that he is handing to America concessions excessive enough to stall Iran’s nuclear aspirations.

The supreme leader can’t afford to have the Iran’s military establishment, the Revolutionary Guards and the street turn against him on this issue.

But in the last few days, Tehran appears to have taken a large step back from direct negotiations with Washington in principle. Just hours after Obama’s election victory was announced on Nov. 7, the official Iranian news agency quoted Sadeq Larijani as condemning US sanctions as “crimes against the Iranian people.” He said relations with America “cannot be possible overnight” and the US president should not expect rapid new negotiations with Tehran. “Americans should not think they can hold our nation to ransom by coming to the negotiating table,” was the Iranian judiciary head’s parting shot for Obama.

The gap between Washington and Tehran is as wide as ever: Obama wants the talks to last no more than three months and end in an agreed settlement of the nuclear dispute, whereas the ayatollah prefers a low-key process to be dragged out past the eight month-month period while also gaining more time for Iran’s nuclear program to race forward.

This tactic would additionally help Tehran erase yet another Israeli red line, the one set by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in his UN September speech when he said that the spring or early summer of 2013 would be the critical date for Israel to act.

Iran and the UN nuclear agency are planning to hold a new round of talks in mid-December in Tehran over the Islamic state’s disputed atomic program, diplomatic sources said on Friday.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) hoped to use the talks to reach an agreement that would allow it to resume a long-stalled investigation into possible military dimensions of Iran’s nuclear program, a senior diplomatic source said.

Iran denies Western allegations that it is trying to develop the capability to make nuclear weapons.

The last round of talks between the IAEA and Iran took place in August but failed to make concrete progress.

“The agency and Iran agreed to have talks mid-December,” the source told Reuters, adding they would take place in Tehran.

Dennis Ross, President Obama’s senior advisor on Middle East policy and Iran until a year ago, said Thursday that 2013 will be the decisive year for the Iranian nuclear issue.

According to Ross, 2013 is likely to see direct talks between the US and Iran, as well as a possible deterioration of the situation into war.

He expressed confidence in Obama, reelected Wednesday, as well as his resolution not to allow a nuclear Iran.

In November America has suffered the double disaster of hurricane Sandy which created aa accompanying Nor’easter and, to make it even more horrific, a natural Nor’easter came in to follow it this week.

There have been two significant November earthquakes along the coastal areas of North and Central America, one off the coast of Vancouver on the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate. I have warned about this plate for 30 years as a place of a mega quake during the tribulation period. The other significant earthquake occurred this week was off the coast of Guatemala.

The Earth’s surface is made up of a patchwork of about a dozen large plates that move relative to one another at speeds from less than one centimeter to about ten centimeters per year (about the speed at which fingernails grow). These rigid plates, whose average thickness is about 80 kilometers, are spreading apart, sliding past each other, or colliding with each other in slow motion on top of the Earth’s hot, pliable interior. Volcanoes tend to form where plates collide or spread apart, but they can also grow in the middle of a plate, as for example the Hawaiian volcanoes.

The boundary between the Pacific and Juan de Fuca Plates is marked by a broad submarine mountain chain about 500 kilometers long, known as the Juan de Fuca Ridge. Young volcanoes, lava flows, and hot springs were discovered in a broad valley less than 8 kilometers wide along the crest of the ridge in the 1970’s. The ocean floor is spreading apart and forming new ocean crust along this valley or “rift” as hot magma from the Earth’s interior is injected into the ridge and erupted at its top.

In the Pacific Northwest, the Juan de Fuca Plate plunges beneath the North American Plate. As the denser plate of oceanic crust is forced deep into the Earth’s interior beneath the continental plate, a process known as subduction, it encounters high temperatures and pressures that partially melt solid rock. Some of this newly formed magma rises toward the Earth’s surface to erupt, forming a chain of volcanoes (the Cascade Range) above the subduction zone.

The Juan de Fuca plate is a very active and unstable plate, capable of producing the same type of rupturing and earthquake activity, as the GREAT Indonesian earthquake of December 26, 2004.

Stretching off the Pacific shore from northern California some 1300 kilometers to the tip of Vancouver Island, the Cascadia subduction zone appears capable of its own magnitude 9 earthquake. There is a possibility that one of the future GREAT earthquake’s the world will see, in the near future, will come from the Cascadia region of North America, and that it will originate with the Juan de Fuca plate.

Since 2005 there has been a series of ongoing “creeping” earthquakes taking place within the subduction zone of the Juan de Fuca plate.

Two weeks prior to February 2, 2007, scientists in Canada began picking up “…an unusual travelling tremor deep inside the earth’s crust.”

“Herb Dragert, a researcher with the Geological Survey of Canada in Victoria, said the wandering tremor is the result of subtle, slow slippage of the Juan de Fuca plate as it pushes against the North American plate in an area known as the Cascadia subduction zone.

A sudden slippage of the two plates would trigger an earthquake similar in magnitude to the one off the coast of Sumatra on Dec. 26, 2004 that killed more than 300,000 people.”

Earthquake scientists detect plate slippage

Late in the evening on February 2, 2007 CTV.ca in Canada issued a warning about a window of increased earthquake activity, based on research being done by Canadian earthquake experts:

“Experts warn that British Columbia’s south coast has entered a two-week window of increased probability in which a major earthquake could occur.

While the chances of that happening are still very slim, such an event could trigger a tsunami equal to the size and the strength of what hit the Sumatra-Andaman Islands in 2004.

Seismologists with B.C.’s Geological Survey of Canada made the announcement after measuring a series of minor tremors deep below the Earth’s surface and along the Cascadia Subduction Zone — a long, sloping fault that stretches from northern California to Vancouver Island.

The zone, which separates the Juan de Fuca Plate and the North American Plate, has a very large fault area which can produce large earthquakes with a magnitude of 9.0 or greater if a rupture were to occur.

“Where the Juan de Fuca plate is subducting beneath the North American plate, and where those plates are touching, it’s locked,” earthquake seismologist Alison Bird told CTV.ca.”

B.C. enters window of increased quake risk

Late in the evening February 3, 2007, and early in the day February 4, 2007, stories started circulating that the ‘silent’ earthquake tremor traveling deep inside the subduction zone had suddenly stopped and the earthquake danger was over. Later in the day, February 4, 2007, Canadian news stories were once again circulating about an open window of increased earthquake activity for the southern part of British Columbia.

One of the troubling parts about the news story, is that there is hardly any mention of the risk facing areas in the U.S. It appears the media in the U.S. is being silenced; being told not to carry the story. Those in the Pacific Northwest, on the United States side, are equally at risk should a GREAT earthquake strike the region, yet, the American people for the most part are not being told about the heightened risk they are facing.

Is pressure being put on the Canadian geological services to silence, or lessen the danger risk? It has happened in the past with other geological services, such as the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre, so it is possible with Canada.

There are a lot of ‘jack boots’ working for the U.S.G.S. and the U.S. Government these days, and they don’t like it when one of the other geological services says and does things that don’t conform with the ‘god-like’ manner (we are superior to you attitude) of the U.S.G.S.

Similar types of disinformation surfaced when a massive tectonic movement took place in Indonesia on November 2, 2002, just a day before the massive Denali, Alaska earthquake inflicted a visibly big surface tear through Alaska.

A massive earthquake may, or may not, strike the Pacific Northwest – southern British Columbia region in the time period being predicted, but it is going to happen. It is not a matter of IF it is going to happen, it is only a matter of WHEN it is going to happen. With geological and climate instabilities increasing around the globe at a heightened pace, the event is likely to happen sooner rather than later.

The climate instabilities risk was added, because the melting glaciers and ice caps are adding water to the oceans, which is in turn is adding an increased weight load, and this is a situation that is further weakening already weakened tectonic plates. This in turn causes increased geological instabilities around the world. It is one natural system impacting another natural system, and one of the reasons global climate changes are such a danger.

The Pacific Northwest – southern British Columbia Cascadia region continues to be an area at risk from a GREAT earthquake. An earthquake that will in turn very likely cause a catastrophic tsunami, and very possibly set off a chain of volcanic eruptions on a scale not seen in modern recorded history.

Guatemala City. The latest official numbers provided by President Otto Perez are: 52 deaths, 150 injured, 22 missing, over 1,200,000 affected and 2,340 houses damaged. The numbers are still expected to rise.

The President declares state of calamity in the most affected departments: San Marcos, Quetzaltenango, Quiche and Huehuetenango for at least 30 days. He also declared 3 days of national mourning. President Otto Pérez provided the latest official statistics at a Press Conference at CONRED, (Network of Emergency and Disaster Organization of Guatemala) in Guatemala City at 9: 55 am- 10:30 am.

Shelters

Latest reports indicate that 760 people are in 10 temporary shelters. However many people refuse to got to the shelters because they are guarding their possessions in the damaged homes in San Marcos and Quetzaltenango.

Emergency Supplies

44 tons of humanitarian supplies have been transported to the affected departments. 60 million dollars are available now to respond to the emergencies according to the Finance Ministry of Guatemala.

Private initiatives to help the victims

The private airplane club “Aeroclub”, radio stations and other private initiatives are collecting non perishable food and blankets for the victims. The collection center is currently in 3 hangars of the national airport. The local press is publishing more aid collection sites.

It is very cold in the affected departments, blankets, water and non perishable food will be needed to help the affected population.

Many governments have expressed their willingness to help in the immediate emergency situation and the reconstruction efforts

Hospital of San Marcos

The National Hospital of San Marcos has attended over 227 injured people yesterday, 2 patients had to be transferred to the national Hospital of Quetzaltenango for specialized attention.

The hospital had been working with only one emergency generator, reports of local sources had pointed out that more medical staff, medicines and medical supplies are needed. Immediately after the victims started to arrive at the hospital yesterday the situation was chaotic. The Minister of Health, Jorge Villavicencio has send out 2 trucks with medical supplies to increase resources for the hospital.

Part 5 was an exposition of Deuteronomy 32:18 relating to one another in regard to the future actions of Israel after the demise of Moses, and its similarities to the same path the Gentiles are currently taking as they come to the end of their age.

Let God’s Song of Moses Stir Up His Church by His Rock in It – Part 5

Part 5 blends well with what has just been made manifest in America by the election results we saw last night. America has now followed the pattern Moses prophesied in his song that that Israel would follow and America will pay a terrible price for it. But this is no time to be discouraged. My attitude is expressed in the following 3 scriptures, which have guided me through the troubling storms of life in times of hardened hearts.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSEE.

A hardened heart does not consider all power in heaven and earth is given unto Jesus. A heart softened by God’s Spirit believes God is in control, and such a heart remains cheerful in times like these.

Mark 6:50 – BE OF GOOD CHEER: IT IS I; BE NOT AFRAID.

Mark 6:40-52 – And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. [41] And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. After each miracle the Pharaoh did not consider it and hardened his heart.

The living waters are the living word of God himself in Jesus as the Prophet of which the man Moses spoke –

Deuteronomy 18:18,19 – I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. [19] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

John 7:37,38 – In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. [38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Ephesians 5:25-27 – Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; [26] That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, [27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Revelation 22:16,17 – I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. [17] And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

“AND HEWED THEM OUT CISTERNS, BROKEN CISTERNS, THAT CAN HOLD NO WATER,”

During the times of the early ad latter rains there are numerous small springs (fountains) and streams that flow in Israel, but between these two seasons most of them dry up in a normal year. The springs and rivers that flow year round are often referred to as “living waters.” When comparing physical water to spiritual water, the spiritual is referred to as “living waters” because it never stops flowing as the gift of eternal life.

John 4:13,14 – Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: [14] But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Cisterns were quite common in the ancient Middle East. Cisterns are not wells filled by a slow downward passage of water through permeable rock like limestone until it collects on an impermeable rock layer such as dolomite. Cisterns are made by man to collect rain water in a basin of permeable rock by using a sticky limestone plaster base on its bottom to make it waterproof. However, any type of earth tremor or sudden temperature change will cause its waterproof base to crack, and all the collected water will seep out. So, in general, all earthly efforts of man to satisfy are unable to constantly satisfy his needs, when compared with God’s heavenly means of satisfying man’s highest wants.

Psalm 23:1,2 – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

Psalm 61:3,4 – For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. [4] I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

Israeli warplanes flew over the divided Golan Sunday, Nov. 4, in a show of strength and as a deterrent against the Syrian civil war seeping across the border DEBKAfile’s military and Western intelligence sources report. In Paris, President Francois Hollande vowed Sunday that “France would oppose with all its strength any bid to destabilize Lebanon. Lebanon must be protected.”

He spoke regardless of the 5,000 Lebanese Shiite Hizballah fighters who have poured into Syria from their Beqaa Valley stronghold of al-Harmel to fight Bashar Assad’s war. Our sources reveal that these Lebanese fighters have now advanced 50-60 kilometers deep into southwestern Syria, up to the outskirts of the embattled town of Homs.

On the Golan, further to the east, Israel’s chief of staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz visited the IDF contingent stationed there to reinforce the message broadcast by the IAF.

Hizballah is now openly flaunting the presence of its regular troops in Syria. They are armed with heavy artillery and Chinese WS-1 multiple-launch rocket systems made in Iran. These “Katyushas,” shoot 302mm rockets at targets up to 100 kilometers away and can operate in the rugged mountain terrain of Lebanon, Syria and Israel and in harsh weather conditions, including snow.

Hizballah fighters are reported by our sources to have already used this weapon with deadly effect in a battle with Syrian rebels over the town of Quseir opposite the Lebanese Beqaa Valley. It ended in Hizbalah’s capture of the town.

Coordination is tight: Hizballah forces on the ground get in touch with Iranian command headquarters in Beirut and Damascus to call up Syrian helicopters for air cover.

The Hizballah commander in Syria is Ibrahim Aqil, a veteran of the Hizballah militia and one of the most trusted by Hassan Nasrallah and Tehran.

Aqil took part in the 1983 assault on US Marines Beirut headquarters in which 241 American troops were killed, the highest death toll in a single event after World War II. In the year 2000, Aqil, then commander of the southern Lebanese front against Israel, orchestrated the kidnap from Israeli territory and murder of three Israeli soldiers, Benny Avraham, Adi Avitan and Omar Sawad.

Hizballah’s expeditionary force in Syria has been assigned three missions:

* To seal off the routes used by the rebels to smuggle fighters and arms from Lebanon into Syria, most of which run through the Beqaa Valley. This mission is near completion.

* To defend the clusters of Syrian Alawite & Shiite villages in the area of Hizballah control

* To provide a strategic reserve force for the Syrian units defending the main hubs of Syrian highways running west to east from the Mediterranean coast to the Syrian-Iraqi border and crisscrossed from north to south by the route running from the Turkish border up to Damascus. Control of these hubs makes it possible for the Syrian army to move military forces between the different warfronts at high speed.
