Togarmah is mentioned as being a nation from the “far north” in the Bible. Ezekiel 38:6 – “There will also be Gomer with all its troops and the house of Togarmah from the far north with all its troops-many nations with you.”

In Ezekiel 27:14 Togarmah is mentioned after Tubal, Javan, and Meshech as supplying horses and mules to the Tyrians, and in Ezekiel 38:6 it is said to have supplied soldiers to the army of Gog.

Turkic History

According to other records, Togarmah is regarded as the ancestor of the Turkic peoples. For example, The French Benedictine monk and scholar Calmet (1672–1757) places Togarmah in Scythia and Turcomania (in the Eurasian Steppes and Central Asia). Also in his letters, King Joseph ben Aaron, the ruler of the Khazars, writes:

“You ask us also in your epistle: “Of what people, of what family, and of what tribe are you?” Know that we are descended from Japhet, through his son Togarmah. I have found in the genealogical books of my ancestors that Togarmah had ten sons.

Turkey maligns Israel to freeze the IDF out of the US anti-Iran missile shield

Turkey has run into two obstacles in its two-year campaign to destroy Israel’s good name and squeeze it into a corner: First, the UN report out Friday, Sept. 2 justified Israel’s Gaza blockade and its navy’s interception last year of a Turkish vessel leading a flotilla aiming to breach that blockade, although it was assailed for its “excessive response” to the violence of Turkish extremists.

Ankara tried in vain to squash this report and postpone its publication.
Thursday, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu laid down an ultimatum which gave Israel 24 hours to abandon its refusal to apologize for the nine deaths aboard that vessel, Turkish-flagged ship Mavi Marmora , caused by a clash between armed Turkish “peace activists” and Israeli soldiers who boarded it. Davutoglu said Israel must also compensate the bereaved families and end the blockade.
Israel again stood by its refusal to apologize – Turkey’s second contretemps.

The UN report composed by former New Zealand Prime minister Sir Geoffrey Palmer then recommended that Ankara accept “an appropriate statement of regret” and payment of compensation.

This is exactly what Israel has repeatedly offered, only to be slapped down by Ankara.

The Erdogan government’s hate campaign for bringing Israel to its knees has entailed support for the terrorist organizations dedicated to its destruction, including the Palestinian Hamas, Hizballah – up to a point, and Turkey’s very own IHH whose activists set about the Israeli soldiers as they boarded the Mavi Marmora.

The UN report is hard on the flotilla’s “true nature and objectives,” accusing it of acting “recklessly in attempting to breach the naval blockade” and holding the Turkish government responsible for not doing more to prevent this encounter.

Israel’s naval blockade was ruled legal and justified – “Israel faces a real threat to its security” from Gaza – and the actions of its commandos were deemed “honorable and appropriate,” although the Palmer report assails Israel for its “excessive and unreasonable” response to the violence it encountered on the Marmora.

Having failed to bring Israel low with its two-year long Plan A, Ankara is putting Plan B into action.

The Israeli ambassador (who is on home leave before retiring) was expelled and Turkey’s longstanding military accords with Israel suspended.

The Turkish foreign minister has already threatened to enforce anti-Israel sanctions and ask international tribunals to prosecute Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, ex-Chief of Staff Gabby Ashkenazi, Navy Commander Zvi Merom and a string of naval officers for causing the nine Marmora deaths and requiring them to compensate the victims’ families.

None of these measures were recommended in the Palmer report.

Turkey’s combative intransigence over the flotilla episode and rank hostility toward Israel reflect the Erdogan government’s frustration over the failure of its strategy to carve a role for Turkey as the leading regional power broker, especially in the Arab Revolt.

Syrian President Bashar Assad simply laughed off Erdogan’s “last warning” to him to stop slaughtering civilian demonstrators and return his troops to barracks.

Davutoglu went to Damascus especially on Aug. 9 to deliver the warning by hand.

But since then, the Syrian army has killed an estimated 437 people, including nearly 100 Palestinians in the town of Latakia – apart from the scores who are dying from maltreatment in custody. Thousands more are injured daily by military gunfire. Yet Assad not only keeps on sending his troops into Syrian cities but has improved on their tactics: In the last two weeks tanks are smashing their way into one city district after another.

Assad is not alone in showing contempt for Ankara’s attempt to make its mark on the Arab Revolt

In Libya, for instance, Turkey undertook to build security and administrative institutions for the dominant Transitional National Council in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi– only to be cold-shouldered after refusing to take part as a NATO member in the military offensive against Muammar Qaddafi and his army – unlike Qatar and Jordan, which put their backs and special forces into toppling the Libyan regime.

The turmoil in Arab lands has made the alliance Erdogan strove to shape between Ankara, Tehran and Damascus, irrelevant, as well as dashing his vision of Turkey as the great bridge between the West and the Muslim world.

Erdogan is now working on a new alliance with Saudi Arabia at the head of the Gulf emirates, but their differences of approach are formidable.

Riyadh is focused on establishing a Sunni Muslim lineup to challenge the Iranian-led Shiite world. Erdogan and Davutoglu are not sure this concept will advance their own vision of Turkey’s role.

All the Turkish leaders’ efforts to make friends and allies have had an important common objective: To isolate Israel and make its military inconsequential as a Middle East force.

There is no point therefore in the Netanyahu government acceding to Ankara’s demands. Even if the Gaza blockade were to be lifted, Erdogan would find another pretext for slapping Israel down. And if Plan B goes the way of Plan A, his foreign minister certainly has Plans C and D in his briefcase ready to go.

Some Israeli officials refer to Turkey as an important regional power which should be placated. The facts do not support this description. The rift will be healed only when Turkey’s rulers stop using Israel as whipping boy for their failed agendas, whether in the Sunni or the Shiite arenas, and understand that the Israeli army is not about to play kids’ games with Turkish terrorists.

Israel must understand too that the glory days of close military ties, when Turkish military air crews training in Israel swooped low over the Tel Aviv beachfront are gone for good. Erdogan has forced the generals of those days into retirement or put them in jail.

Only eight months ago, Hakan Fidan, head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization, MIT and an Erdogan trusty was ready to hand Iran all the classified data on Israel’s weapons systems in Turkey’s possession to help Tehran stand up to a potential Israeli strike against its nuclear facilities.

This was only prevented by the outbreak of the popular uprising in Syria and the attendant deterioration of Ankara’s ties with Tehran and Damascus.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been proactive in the Obama administration’s effort to heal the breach between Ankara and Jerusalem.

This is a hopeless task because Erdogan and his foreign minister are after big game: They will be satisfied with nothing less that pushing Israel and its army out of the anti-missile setup the US and NATO have deployed for intercepting Iran’s ballistic missiles.

DEBKAfile’s military and Washington sources report that Ankara accompanied its hostile acts against Israel with swift permission for the deployment of NATO electronic warning stations on Turkish soil.

Turkey’s eyes are fixed on the shared ballistic missile defense facilities the US established with Israel in recent years. Erdogan plans next to warn Washington that it will not allow the data incoming to the Turkey-based stations to be relayed to Israel thereby driving a hole in the missile shield America is building.

Turkey’s aim is to drive a wedge between Washington and Jerusalem, derail their close military and intelligence collaboration and cast Israel out of the collective missile shield.

US withdrawal from this partnership under Turkish pressure would leave Israel wide open to Iran’s ballistic missiles. Whether or not Ankara succeeds in this maneuver depends on how the Obama administration treats what looks in Jerusalem very much like Turkish blackmail.

PSALM 2:1-3 – Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? [2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

Since I have already exposited on verses 1 to 3 in Number 2, I will only address my exposition to verse 4, which refers to the planned actions of the kings

of the earth, and the DERISION

God creates among them by his release of the power

of all his creation. Man cannot deliver himself from the DERISION of the tribulation period, and must rely on the power of God to deliver him from it.

Many believers fail to CONSIDER THE POWER OF GOD IN TRUSTING HIM, AND THEIR HEART IS HARDENED.

Psalm 2:4 – He that sitteth in the heavens SHALL LAUGH: the Lord SHALL have them in DERISION.

Arbitrary arrests, torture and other human rights violations are growing in the Arab Spring Middle East as despots more often than not ignore promises to end the worst abuses while new governments resort to their predecessors’ methods to restore order, human rights experts say.

The latest indication of ballooning violations came in a report released by Amnesty International on Tuesday, which asserted that at least 88 people died in custody in Syria in the four-and-a-half months to August 15. Even as President Bashar Assad ended the emergency law in April that had effectively made such abuses legal, the number of deaths was “many times higher than the yearly average,” the London-based organization said.

“The method of torture and ways in which people are being arrested and detained fits into a broader pattern that goes way back, but the scale has grown,” Philip Luther, Amnesty’s deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa, told The Media Line.

“There may well be more … We have been receiving new reports.”

Across the Middle East people have poured into the streets to demand reforms or bring down governments that count among the world’s human rights violators. But even as three of the region’s leaders have fallen and those still in power face closer scrutiny than ever, the Arab Spring has done little to end arbitrary arrests, torture and abuse, and censorship.

Assad, who in his 11 years of rule has been cited as a serial human rights violator, has promised to end some of his regimes most onerous laws and practices as he struggles to put down a rebellion now marking its sixth month. But Amnesty and other human rights groups said there was little evidence anything has changed.

Amnesty couldn’t conduct field research (it said the last time the government permitted it to visit the country was 14 months ago). But based on videos and photographic evidence examined by experts, it maintained that at least 52 of the 88 showed evidence they experienced torture. Some of the dead, including minors as young as 13, were also mutilated “in particularly grotesque ways” apparently to scare the families to whom the corpses were returned.

All told, more than 2,200 people have been killed since the Syrian government’s crackdown on protesters began in March, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said last week. And the pace of killings may be rising, with 350 deaths reported since the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan August 2.

Meanwhile in Bahrain, the OHCHR said the situation remains “tense and unpredictable” months after the island emirate put an end to anti-government protests and King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa has promised national dialogue. Opposition activities are still being repressed and hundreds of cases involving civilian demonstrators are being conducted in what amount to military courts, the OHCHR said.

After anti-government protests were put down in Bahrain with the help of Saudi security forces in March, King Hamad signaled he was ready to ease up the crackdown, marking the end of Ramadan this week by pardoning an unknown number of political prisoners and calling for the reinstatement of some workers fired for their political activity.

At least 500 people have been detained in Bahrain since the protests began in February, according to Amnesty International. Four have died in custody under “suspicious circumstances” and more than 2,500 people have been dismissed or suspended from work. Among them were teachers, who were arrested, tortured or otherwise ill-treated in detention for joining the protests.

“We are concerned that most of the defendants in these cases may be prisoners of conscience, detained only for exercising their rights to freedom of expression and association,” Rupert Colville, spokesman for the OHCHR said on Tuesday.

The region’s new leaders, who have inherited control from dictators like Egypt’s Husni Mubarak and Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi have had a mixed record since they took power.

“It’s too soon to say.

We have to refrain from overall assessment in Libya where there’s still a war going on. In a place like Egypt you have transitional situation where it’s under military rule,” said Sarah Leah Whitson, executive director of Human Rights Watch’s Middle East and North Africa division. “These are not democrats, these are not revolutionaries. They run a military shop.”

She told The Media Line

she expected real change to come in Egypt, which has been under the rule of an interim military government since Mubarak was ousted last February, when an elected government comes to power early next year.

Meanwhile, human rights activists have gathered considerable evidence that the army continues to torture prisoners, a group of 36 Egyptian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) said in an August 26 statement.

Bloggers and others who criticize the army have been arrested and more civilians than ever are being tried in military courts.

“Torture continues to be carried out in detention facilities run by the military police and has even reached unprecedented levels, as female political activists face sexual assault by being subjected to forcible virginity tests,” the 36 NGOs “Excessive force has also been used on several occasions to disperse sit-ins by political groups and the families of martyrs of the January 25 Revolution.”

Cairo’s Hisham Mubarak Law Centre estimates that over 12,000 Egyptians have been sentenced in military courts in the last six months, compared with fewer than 2,000 civilians in the 30 years Mubarak ruled.

Whitson, however, said she saw a bright spot in two of the region’s kingdoms – Jordan and Morocco. Both countries rulers have shunned violence as much as possible and have taken serious measures to reform and democratize politics, even if they have stopped short of surrendering their ruling powers.

“They do care and they do know their international credibility and international legitimacy isn’t very high and is getting more attention than ever before because of the Arab Spring,” she told The Media Line. “These governments have made a strategic choice.”

The Arab Spring was supposed to bring democracy, peace and prosperity. But stalemates between governments and opposition forces are paralyzing economic life, exacerbating food shortages that were already in the making due to unfavorable weather and rising world prices.

Reports of widespread hunger have emerged in recent weeks in Libya and Syria. On Wednesday, Yemen was officially added to the list of food trouble spots when a United Nation mission visiting Yemen called on the international community to quickly provide humanitarian aid to the impoverished country, pushed to the verge of starvation by five months of protests and armed insurrection.

“Before the unrest began, seven million Yemenis were forced to reduce their number of daily meals from three to one,” Aziz Al-Athwari, Yemen country director at Oxfam, a British aid agency, told The Media Line.

“Although we have no current statistics, that number has certainly increased since fighting began.”

Seven million is equal to nearly a third of Yemen’s population. The UN’s World Food Program (WFP) recently launched an emergency operation to feed 1.7 million severely food insecure Yemenis. The poorest country in the Middle East, Yemen has been rocked by deadly protests since late January demanding President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s ouster.

All three Middle East countries suffered from food and water shortfalls even before unrest broke out, preventing inputs like seeds and fertilizer reaching farmers and severing transportation links to markets. But with fighting in Libya and Yemen nearly reaching their fifth month and unrest in Syria nearing its fourth, economic paralysis has become the norm.

And as the fighting goes on, world food prices are rising.

In June they reached a near record led by sharp increase in sugar prices outweighed a slump in the grains complex, the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said on Thursday.

The FAO’s food price index, which covers prices of a basket of commodities, rose 1% to 234 points last month, up 39% compared with the same time last year and just below the record 238 points hit in February.

Food prices are likely to stay at historically-high—and volatile—levels well into 2012, the FAO said.

Al-Athwari traces the growing hunger in Yemen to mounting fuel and diesel costs. Not only food but water is delivered to many communities by truck, and rising transport prices have lifted the price of food and water beyond the ability of the average Yemeni to pay. As a result, he said, Yemenis have reduces their water consumption, causing public health and sanitation conditions to deteriorate.

“Fifteen-hundred liters of water used to cost $5, but now cost $20,” Al-Athwari added. “Many day laborers have lost their jobs and can no longer afford this.”

In Libya, the fighting between government and opposition forces has severely harmed the supply of food and medication, particularly to the Western Mountain Region which is entirely dependant on outside supplies, said Reem Nada, a Cairo-based public information officer for the World Food Program. Libya is almost entirely dependent on food imports but the country’s ports have been shuttered for months.

“The World Food Program is concerned with the collapse of the public distribution system, affected by the situation in Libya,” Nada told The Media Line. “Due to heavy fighting in Libya’s Western Mountain Region, markets are closed and there is lack of cash and fuel. Some areas have no electricity or water.”

Her organization has distributed 6,000 tons of food to Libya since March and has designated 22,000 additional tons for Libyans and refugees who have fled to neighboring Tunisia and Egypt. According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), over one million refugees have so far fled Libya as a result of the fighting.

Syrians too have suffered hunger due to a drought that has plagued the country’s northeast since 2006, described by the WFP as “the worst in decades.” Mass migration from Syria’s rural agricultural areas into cities has ensued. Some one million Iraqi refugees living in Syria are the most vulnerable to food shortage, as they are not allowed to work or own land to sustain themselves.

For Syrians struggling with less food in the markets, the problem was made worse by cuts in food subsidies and frozen wages after 2004. In the weeks before unrest broke out in mid-March, the Syrian President Bashar Assad government restored some of those subsidies and raised salaries for civil servants. But with the economy paralyzed, it’s not clear the government can afford to increase aid or distribute it.

The fighting, however, has been a major cause of hunger in Syria. In mid-June, government forces loyal to Assad blocked food from reaching Syrian villages near the border with Turkey, where thousands of internally displaced refugees had gathered fleeing government violence.

This is a starvation war they’re waging,” Jameel Saib, a local eyewitness, told CNN, adding that refugees were forced to pluck fruit from trees in order to survive.

Ali Al-Saffar, a Middle East researcher at the Economist Intelligence Unit, a London-based researcher affiliated with The Economist magazine, said food scarcity and high inflation were one of the root causes of Arab uprisings.

“Rising prices of food and fuel played out to disenchantment,” Al-Saffar told The Media Line. He added, however, that the acute food shortage was not a structural problem in the Middle East but rather the result of military conflict, meaning the situation is reversible.

“No one is expecting this food insecurity to go on forever,” he said.

EVENT 3 – Some Seventy Five Days After the War Begins Jerusalem will Fall to the Islamic forces and some Two-Thirds of the Jewish Population will have been Killed.

The surviving one-third will have split into two sections. One portion will be boxed in along the narrow coastal strip from Tel Aviv to Haifa, and the other portion

will have withdrawn to the Negev area from Beersheba to Eilat!

About 70 percent of the Jewish population is concentrated on Israel’s narrow coastal plain from Tel Aviv to Haifa.

The Antichrist knows he will not be able to penetrate into the Negev because it is the most heavily military fortified zone in Israel, and billions of dollars have been spent to make it perhaps the best contingency evacuation zone of any of the world’s nations. Besides this, as he nears the northern section of the Negev to the North of Beersheba a great earthquake will occur in, and to the north of the zone, along the Jordan River, and he will lose a fair portion of his troops in it.

For this, and as a manifestation of his compassion to the huge international community of nations, he will allow aircraft of the West to evacuate Israel’s from the narrow coastal strip to the Negev, and the remaining Jews to the east will be advancing into the Negev as IDF protects their evacuation. Another good reason for his allowing what appears to be an act of mercy is simply that he has no use for the Negev at this time, because he wants to conquer Egypt and start building his Islamic Caliphate from Morocco to New Guinea.

The ten horns are Islamic horns existing in what was once the southern flank of the Roman Empire at its maximum extension, as well as the Umayyad Islamic Caliphate at its maximum extension.

the 7th beast empire foretold in Revelation 17:11, which went into perdition (destruction), refers to the great Islamic Empire more than 500 years after John wrote Revelation, which went into perdition, but is currently the same beast now being resurrected as the 8th Beast directed by its Antichrist King who, like the King of the seventh beast, is also Islamic.

The first King head on the beast of Revelation 17 represents the Egyptian Kingdom, the second the Assyrian, the third the Babylonian, the fourth the Medo-Persian, the fifth the Grecian, the sixth the Roman, the seventh the Umayyad Islamic Caliphate, and the eighth the Islamic Caliphate Kingdom of Antichrist.

Revelation 17:11 – And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

Whatever the case, after Antichrist traps Israel in the Negev Wilderness, a truce is declared which has been brokered by the United Nations, such that even though Antichrist has not conquered Israel, she shall be “in his hand” while Jerusalem is being trodden under foot by the Gentiles some 42 months until the Second Advent.
