Obama’s beginning of the end

In 1956, Britain, France and Israel colluded to invade Egypt to overthrow its hugely popular nationalist leader, Gamal Abdel Nasser. US President Dwight Eisenhower deemed the tripartite Suez aggression immoral and damaging to American interests in the Muslim world. “Ike” ordered the British, French and Israelis to get out

of Egypt at once – or else. They got out.

Fast forward to 2010. President Barack Obama demands Israel stop building illegal Jewish settlements around Jerusalem and on the West Bank. Obama rightly concludes the ongoing agony of Palestine has turned the Muslim world against the United States.

It is also the primary cause of what Washington calls “terrorism.” After the Suez invasion, Israel’s American partisans set about building an influence network that would ensure no American president could ever force Israel to do anything against its will.

Their brilliant success was again confirmed this week as Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of Israel’s rightist coalition, literally spit in Obama’s face, sneeringly rejecting the president’s pleas to create a viable Palestinian state. The US Congress and rightwing media actually applauded the public humiliation of their president and vice president. How the mighty have fallen. Obama has shown himself utterly without spine, and terrified of the Israel lobby at a time when his political fortunes are plummeting. The White House understands that America’s vital interests in the Mideast are being increasingly undermined by Israel’s adamant refusal to allow a workable Palestinian state instead of apartheid-style Arab Bantustans.

A triumphant Netanyahu made clear Israel would retain all of Jerusalem, settlement blocks around it, water resources, key roads, the West Bank high ground and the Jordan River valley. In short, “useful Palestine.” The rest, waterless scrub and slums, might be left to the Arabs.

Nothing was said about Israel’s illegal occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights.

Even Obama’s shameful offer of a multi-billion dollar bribe to Israel of 20 F-35 warplanes and unlimited diplomatic support, in exchange for a flimsy 90-day building freeze, was contemptuously rejected by Netanyahu. He knows the US Congress would give Israel the moon if asked. The US has already given Israel at least $114 billion since its creation in 1947.

What does Obama’s humiliation mean? His chances of being defeated in the next presidential election are growing. Obama’ s arch-rival, the pro-I

sraeli Hillary Clinton, is positioning herself to take over the Democratic Party from Obama.

The US diplomatic, intelligence and military establishment has got the message, loud and clear: don’t mess with Israel.

The last US president who tried to restrain Israel’s West Bank colonisation, George H.W. Bush, failed to win re-election; his able secretary of state, James Baker, was slandered as an “anti-Semite.” By caving in to Israel’s hard right over the West Bank, Obama sends a message of profound weakness to the rest of the world. He is signaling that Israel, not the White House, really makes America’ s Midea

st policy. Israel also increasingly influences US policy towards Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Iran and North Korea. The humiliated Palestinian Authority is shown as a helpless puppet of the Americans and Israelis, as rival Hamas has long charged.

Obama’s defeat suggests Israel now has “carte blanche” to move ahead and attack Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah, Syria, and eventually Iran. In fact, Israel now seems to have the power to plunge the US into war against Iran whenever it decides the time is right and the risk worthwhile.

Since the US has become a helpless giant, it’s up to the rest of the world to end the suffering in Palestine. Brazil and Argentina have taken an important step forward by recognising a Palestinian state in the pre-1967 borders. The 2002 Saudi peace

plan still offers all parties concerned the fairest, most practical 
road to peace.

The UN General Assembly should again endorse this plan and call for more pressure on Israel.

But Netanyahu and his fellow rightwing zealots are determined to hold on to every meter of the West Bank and Golan.

Some far rightists want to exp and Israel into Lebanon

and Syria. Israel’s refusal to compromise over Palestine is at the heart of its increasingly dangerous confrontation 
with Iran.

Obama’s shameful failure will haunt the world for decades.

UN and EU blame Israel for breakdown of peace talks

Ban Ki-moon and Catherine Ashton criticize Netanyahu gov’t for not “heeding the call of the int’l community” to extend settlement freeze; Barak calls resumption of talks an “urgent necessity”

The United Nations and the European Union on Thursday rebuked the Netanyahu government after its refusal to halt settlement construction forced Washing

ton to drop efforts to relaunch Mideast peace talks.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak met Thursday with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York and told reporters he had sought UN help in restarting the talks.

Ban expressed regret at the meeting “that Israel will not heed the united call of the international community, as reflected by the Quartet, to extend the settlement restraint policy,” UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said.

“In spite of this setback, the secretary-general believes it is more important than ever to promote a negotiated endgame for a two-state solution,” Nesirky said.

Barak told reporters after the meeting that it was “an urgent necessity” that negotiations resume and said it was not the rate of settlement construction that was the problem but suspicion and mutual distrust.

While Washington, did not blame Israel for the breakdown in peace talks, another member of the so-called Quartet of Mideast mediators, which includes the EU, the UN and Russia along with the US, sharply criticized Israel.

“I note with regret that Israel has not been in a position to accept an extension of the (settlement) moratorium, as requested by the US, the EU and the Quartet,” Catherine Ashton, the EU foreign policy chief, said Thursday.

“The EU position on settlements is clear: They are illegal under international law and an obstacle to peace. Recent settlement-related developments, including in east Jerusalem, contradict efforts by the international community for successful negotiations,” she said.

Israeli officials declined to comment on the international criticism.

At Last – The Ultimate Religious Weapon Is Discovered!

No, it is not the security fence, that’s old hat. Why? Because anybody is capable of building one of those! Why, both India and Saudi Arabia are planning one of those common, ordinary, everyday things, even though they both voted to put Israel on trial by the International Court of Justice for building one to keep out terrorists.

India has apparently decided to build a fence along its border with Kashmir to stop terrorist penetrations into its population, and Saudi Arabia has infuriated Yemen by planning to build a fence between them to stop terrorists from entering to affect their population. Could the ultimate weapon be the nuclear bomb Iran is frantically trying to produce in the process of swearing it has no such intention? You know, the bomb it swore it did not have the ability to develop because of its inability to develop enriched uranium, which we have now discovered to be a lie, since receiving the Pakistan confession that it sold Iran plans for an advanced stage two uranium processor, the maker of highly enriched uranium. But the mother of all weapons does not consist of wire, or of a nuclear bomb. It has been walking on four divided hoofs for a very long time.

It has finally come on the scene, the religious weapon of weapons, and should be heralded as the Day of the Pig in religions circles.

It has been reported in Israelinsider, Israel’s daily magazine, that Israeli police are considering using pig lard in buses and other places to deter the Muslim suicide bombers that have taken so many lives on Israeli buses. This was according to a report by Maariv on February 12, 2004. According to the report, the proposal received the Jerusalem rabbinate’s approval.

The suggestion by the police is based on the position of strict Muslim traditional teaching, which holds that any Muslim who comes in contact with a pig before dying will be denied access to heaven. As for the rest of us, who are not Muslim or Jewis

h, it doesn’t matter one way or the other, because Islam believes we are all hell bound anyway, so we might as well enjoy our bacon, catfish, and ham on the way down.

According to the report, Minister Gideon Ezra had previously suggested burying the corpses of suicide bombers wrapped in pigskin to deter the attacks. The proposal never got serious consideration in Israel, because its opponents suggested it would only serve to encourage all the suicide bombers, egged on by clerics stating that Jews were defiling the burial rites of Islam. Russian security forces reportedly buried some Chechen terrorists in pigskins last year in an attempt to end their suicide bombing attacks.

But we Gentiles know that pigskins, properly prepared, are a best seller at super markets and service stations,

and burying them is a waste of a great taste.

Rabbi Eliezer Moshe Fisher, at the Jerusalem Rabbinical Court, ruled in early February that “there is no Halachic ban on using bags of (pig) lard in buses and other places” when saving lives is concerned. The Halachic permit says bags of (pig) lard may be used in any place that might be a target for suicide bombings, such as schools, shopping malls, and railway stations. The Halachic permit was necessary because Jews also consider the pig to be an unclean animal, as are catfish

because they do not possess scales.

Deuteronomy 14:8,9 – And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase. [9] These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:

For those of you who have skinned catfish, you are well aware of how bad you smell after completing the process. So if they were to use bags of the perfume of catfish aroma on the buses, it would absolutely stop all suicide bombings on buses, because no one would ride the buses.

The Rabbi also went on to say that if police do not use pig fat in buses, tens of thousands of ultra-orthodox Jews will arm themselves with toy water pistols filled with liquid

pig lard to be used against terrorists. So, from now on, I plan to carry small packets of pig lard with me on all my flights. I am hopeful they will arm all the Air Marshals with pig-greased bullets, and the pilots with toy pig lard pistols. Maybe we could put a pig on every flight. And, just in case there might be vampires or werewolves sneak on board, we could carry a few wooden stakes and silver bullets. In all honestly, please forgive me my levity, this is a very serious matter, and if pig lard works for the Jews, have at it, for I have been pro-Israel from my youth.

In October, former Chief Rabbi Mordehai Eliyahu and Kiryat Arba’s Chief Rabbi Dor Lior gave their endorsement to a proposal to test the use of wild pigs in detecting terrorist infiltrators and explosives in West Bank communities. A former trainer of sniffer dogs said, “Boars could also be better than dogs in finding mines and explosives.”

Rabbi Daniel Shilo of Kedumim, who is the chairman of the rabbinical committee of the Yesha Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Gaza, and Samaria, said, “The prohibition of raising the pig is known, but because we are dealing with pikuach nefesh, the saving of lives, it is made permissible to have the animal.”

But even if those tending the pig herd were not Jewish, I have wondered, from time to time, if some of that bacon and ham did not end up for sale on the Israelite side of the border, even before Jesus appeared in Israel. The following Scripture was written more than 700 years before Jesus came to the country of the Gadarenes.

Isaiah 66:17 – They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.

The two verses preceding this verse are a most apt description of a period of time referred to as the tribulation period that will come on this earth, especially in the rift valley of the Jordan River and the fault from Haifa southeast past Megiddo to the Jordan (See Update 158S).

Isaiah 66:15,16 – For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

[16] For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.

Revelation 19:16 – And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Revelation 19:21 – And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Reuters News Service has reported that Israel has developed a pungent weapon for driving back Palestinian protesters – The Skunk Bomb. The bomb contains a synthetic version of skunk odor to deter predators.

The new device, which is not yet operational, releases a cloud so pungent that, according to initial tests, it permeates clothes for five years.

Palestinians said such a weapon could be very unpleasant for devout Muslims, since they cannot pray with clothes that smell, and would have to throw them away.

When I was a teenager there were two Jewish men that owned a general store on Asher Avenue in Little Rock, which contained the widest assortment of different types of merchandise I had ever seen.

I know that one of the owners was named Izzi and I think the other was named Ozzi. Their last name was Besser. There was a sign in the front window that read: “KEEP IZZI BUSY.”

Hariri killing indictment ready ‘very, very, soon’

UN-backed tribunal to target individuals rather than groups, as fingers point to senior Hezbollah figures.

LEIDSCHENDAM (The Netherlands) – An indictment for the 2005 assassination of

former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq Hariri should be served within a matter of weeks, a UN-backed tribunal said on Thursday.

Hariri was assassinated in a massive car bombing in Beirut that also killed another 22 people, and the Netherlands-based Special Tribunal for Lebanon is tasked with finding who was responsible.

“Everyone is waiting for the moment when the prosecutor is going (to come) out with an indictment,” the clerk of the court, Herman von Hebel, told reporters.

“Of course I cannot give any date, there is no date yet, but what I can tell you is: it is very, very soon.

“We are not talking about months and

months again. We are really talking about weeks.” The indictment would be confidential at least until it is confirmed by the pre-trial judge, he said adding that a trial could open four to six months after the confirmation, “maybe September or October, something like that, at some point of the second half of the year”.

He said the estimates were based on the experience at other international courts.

“It really depends on the developments of the court next year,” he said.

Several foreign media, including the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), have reported that the tribunal will indict members of the powerful Shiite militant group, Hezbollah, in connection with the murder.

Hezbollah, which fought a 2006 war with Israel, has warned any such accusation would have grave repercussions in Lebanon.

But von Hebel said: “This tribunal is not targeting a particular group of people, it is about finding out who has been involved in the attack against Mr Hariri”.

“We are talking about individual responsibility not about group responsibility.”

India tops list of countries where briber

BERLIN: India is among the countries topping the list for reported bribe payments over the year along with Afghanistan, Cambodia, Cameroon, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, the Palestinian territories, Senegal, Sierre Leone and Uganda.

More than one person out of two in these countries said they had handed out financial sweeteners to officials.

The study, by the Berlin-based non-governmental agency Transparency International, focuses on small-scale bribery and was put together from polls conducted among more than 91,000 people in 86 countries and territories.

The study reveals one person in four worldwide paid a bribe during the past year.

In the past 12 months, one in four paid a bribe to one of nine institutions, such as health, education or tax authorities, according

to the 2010 Global Corruption Barometer.

But it was the police who proved most corrupt, according to the study which reported that 29 per cent of those having dealings with police said they had paid a bribe.

Worldwide, sub-Saharan Africa was the region reporting the greatest incidence of bribery with more than one person in two saying they had made such payments to officials in the past 12 months.

The Middle East and North Africa was the next most corrupt region with 36 per cent of people there reporting having paid a bribe.

This compared to 32 per cent in the former Soviet republics, 23 per cent in South America, 19 per cent in the Balkans and Turkey, 11 per cent in the Asia-Pacific region, and five per cent in the European Union and North America.

Nearly half of the respondents said they paid to avoid problems, while a quarter said it was meant to speed up procedures.

Lower income earners reported paying more bribes than the better paid.

The study, the seventh on the matter by Transparency International since 2003, this time involved a greater number of countries, including for the first time China, Bangladesh and the Palestinian territories.

Polling, mostly by the Gallup Institute, was conducted between June 1 and September 30.

The United Nations established International Anti-Corruption Day in 2003 to raise awareness of graft and promote the global fight against it.
