Iran: President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has much in common with Adolf Hitler — hatred of Jews, warmongering, delusions of divine inspiration. Now add this: His own people have tried to blow him to smithereens.

After surviving the July 20, 1944, plot on his life at his field headquarters near Rastenburg (now Ketrzyn) in Poland, Hitler said: “I take this as confirmation of my assignment from Providence to continue to pursue my life’s goal as I have done hitherto.” Historians believe that afterwards nearly 5,000 people were executed by the Gestapo.

When the news spread of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad surviving a homemade bomb being tossed at his convoy in Hamedan in western Iran Wednesday, some Iranian opposition groups were acting as if Tehran’s 21st century Gestapo, the Revolutionary Guards, might similarly come after them.

A representative of a faction of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, asked if his group was involved, told London’s Daily Mail: “Absolutely not, absolutely

not. It has nothing to do with us.”

Indeed, Ahmadinejad recently declared, Fuhrer-like, that “the regime has only one party, which is the velayat” — a term used in many Islamic countries and derived from the Arabic for “to govern.”

That’s not too far removed from “ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer!”

And, like Hitler, Ahmadinejad and Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei, have put their jackboots where their mouths are, successfully putting down the popular demonstrations last summer after Ahmadinejad’s fraudulent re-election.

Of course, there were many attempts on Hitler’s life, the most interesting being Georg Elser’s planting of a homemade bomb at the Burgerbraukeller in Munich in late 1939, which detonated right on schedule but failed because Hitler chose not to be as long-winded as usual .

The opposition coalition also pointed out that “back in 1978, when the anti-Shah revolution got going, it was the bazaar that provided the muscle.” The group added that “there could emerge an alliance between the bazaar, the clergy, and the reformists” and warned, “it’s clear that something important is happening.”

The Obama administration is facing a crisis in its diplomatic service

Battered by a scandal which seems to provide a fresh wave of embarrassment with each passing day, the US government is being forced to undertake a major reshuffle of the embassy staff, military personnel and intelligence operatives whose work has been laid bare by the whistle-blowing web site

The Obama administration was yesterday facing a crisis in its diplomatic service, amid growing evidence that the ongoing publication of a tranche of supposedly-confidential communiqués will make normal work difficult, if not dangerous, for important State Department employees across the world.

A mere 1,100 of the roughly 250,000 secret documents obtained by the website have so far been published, leading to fears that the unhelpful revelations will continue for months to come, destabilising US relations with almost all of its key allies and inflaming tensions with already-hostile governments in the Middle East and beyond. “In the short run, we’re almost out of business,” a senior US diplomat told the Reuters news agency, saying it could take five years to rebuild trust.

Among those whose private thoughts have been embarrassingly revealed is Gene Cretz, the US ambassador to Libya who wrote a now-notorious cable to Washington in 2009 noting that that the country’s leader Muammar Gaddafi never travels without his “voluptuous blonde” Ukranian nurse.

America’s current envoy to the United Nations has also been criticised following the revelation that Hillary Clinton instructed them to procure credit card and frequent flyer numbers, mobile phone numbers, email addresses, passwords and other data from foreign diplomats and top UN officials, including the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The difficulty regarding the future of America’s diplomatic service is the fact that the authors of many of the most important emails in the WikiLeaks tranche are among their most-experienced senior staff, and will therefore be tough, if not impossible, to replace.

None of the countries that were affected by the WikiLeaks cables had requested the withdrawal of any American diplomatic staff.

“That’s another part of the tragedy of this,” a senior US national-security official told The Daily Beast website, which yesterday detailed the extent of the crisis on the ground and claimed that the reassignment of affected diplomats had already been planned and would take place in the coming months.

Although there have yet to be formal moves to oust the diplomats responsible for the most awkward memos so far revealed, foreign governments are expected to soon begin “PNG-ing” US diplomats, a practice which involves demanding the removal of an official by branding them “persona non grata”.

“We think it’s only a matter of time, though,” one State Department official told The Daily Beast. Diplomatic sources told The Independent that there no immediate plans

The latest leaked memos reveal that Hillary Clinton criticised the Saudi government, saying the country was the world’s largest source of funds for Islamist militant groups but that its politicians were reluctant to stem the flow of money. In the memo, dated December 2009, she told US diplomats that “Riyadh has taken only limited action” to interrupt the flow of money to the Taliban and groups launching attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. She added that Hamas raised millions in Saudi, often from Hajj and Ramadan pilgrims. The note also highlighted Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE as sources of militant money and singled Qatar out as “the worst in the region” for not co-operating with Washington.

Many in the Arab world seem to be happy with the big fire that has been raging in northern Israel over the past few days.

Judging from comments of readers in response to the blaze in several leading Arab media outlets and websites, a majority believe that God is “punishing” Israel for occupying Arab lands and killing Palestinians, especially during Operation cast Lead in the Gaza Strip.

Many Arabs also strongly condemned Egypt and Jordan for agreeing to help in extinguishing the blaze.

Others called on Israel’s enemies, particularly Iran, Hamas and Hizbullah to seize the opportunity and try to wipe Israel off

63 years ago, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of Resolution 181, dividing what was then known as Palestine into independent Jewish and Arab states.

While the Zionist leadership accepted Resolution 181, and Jews throughout the world danced ecstatically in the streets, the Arab states rejected it. Worse, they swore to annihilate the reborn Jewish state and drive its inhabitants – many of them Holocaust survivors – into the sea. Six armies descended on the weakly-armed Israeli defenders.

Yet, after a brutal war in which 1% of the Israeli population – the equivalent of 30 million Americans today – were killed, Israel triumphed.

The Palestinians have spent much of the past six decades striving to defeat Resolution 181. Instead of building viable democratic institutions and investing in their children’s education, they instilled hatred and glorified “armed resistance.” Our founding fathers and mothers were willing to divide our homeland with another people that also regarded it as their homeland and to live side-by-side in peace, and so are we. Palestinian Revisionism Is the Only Obstacle to Peace

The recent Palestinian Authority report stating that the Western Wall has no religious or historical significance to the Jewish people is sadly yet another attempt at political historical revisionism. As the recent UNESCO report on Jewish sites in Judea and Samaria exposed, the Palestinian rejectionist narrative is foisted on the international agenda and is supported by an automatic majority in multilateral forums.

The PA Ministry of Information claims on its website that “according to the Jewish Encyclopedia, published in 1917, the Western Wall became part of the Jewish religious tradition around the year 1520 AD, as a result of Jewish immigration from Spain, after the Ottoman conquest the year 1517.” In fact, the entry in the Jewish Encyclopedia of 1917 provides historic references to the Western Wall from antiquity and certainly before the Arab invasion, conquest and occupation of the Middle East.

The recent UNESCO report that Rachel’s Tomb near Jerusalem is the Bilal ibn Rabah Mosque is an even greater scandal. It also disposes of hundreds of years of Muslim tradition. According to an Ottoman document found by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, in 1830 the Turks issued a firman (royal decree) that gave legal force to Rachel’s Tomb being recognized as a Jewish holy site.

In 2000, talks between former Prime Minister Ehud Barak and PA Chairman Yasser Arafat at Camp David in the presence of U.S. President Bill Clinton broke down over similar historical revisionism. After Barak had made an overly generous offer about splitting sovereignty of the Temple Mount, Arafat claimed that he could not concede an inch of this “Islamic territory” because the Jewish Temple never existed.

While the Palestinians claim to be the original residents of our land, history and fact stand in their way. While the majority of the Jewish people had to endure a two millennia exile from our land, the stones of our Temple, the burial sites of our forefathers, our ritual baths, ancient cisterns and synagogues remained.

And 2,000 years of foreign occupation and attempted negation of Jewish history could not prevent the return of the aboriginal people to our land.

The real obstacle to peace is Palestinian rejection of Israel and the self-determination of the Jewish people. The PA brainwashes its people to disallow Israel’s legitimacy and falsifies Jewish, Christian and Muslim history in the process. Whatever Happened to the WMD in Iraq?

This has been an intriguing question that has produced a lot of political hay for those who say the Iraqi WMD did not exist, but were merely an excuse to invade Iraq.

And, to be perfectly honest, no one knows for sure what happened to the WMD. There was an event, which I did report in Special Prophecy Update Number 81A, that I really did not understand involving Iraq and Syria, and it did indeed seem strange at the time, considering past relationships between the two countries. The following three paragraph quote is taken from the August 17, 2002 Update 81A, titled “More Strategic Dialog Among the 10 Toes,” which was written some seven months before Iraq was invaded by coalition forces.

“Iraq has recently been conducting large-scale military maneuvers on the Syrian border, reportedly by prior agreement with its new President, Bashar Assad. Bashar then made a trip to Iran to hold talks with its President, Mohammad Khatami. The talks were described as a strategic dialog.

The healing process is taking time because of all the past conflicts that have occurred between these nations, but it is progressing because of a common healing balm – Their natural hatred for Israel, which far exceeds their dislike for each other. The great breaches between them occurred in the last decade. Iraq and Iran fought a very bitter war that took the lives of millions. The relations between Iraq and Syria, which are ruled by two rival wings of the Baath party, were severed in the eighties, but have been on the mend since 1997, fueled mainly by trade links.

We have covered these trade links in detail in previous updates, as well as the sneaky way that Syria is militarily assisting Iraq and receiving oil benefits in return.

This is one of the reasons that Bashar, last month, sent a message to Saddam on the thirty-fourth anniversary of his rival Baath party rising to power in Baghdad. In the message he underlined his desire to boost the brotherly ties between Iraq and Syria.

An independent Jordanian newspaper, Al Hilal, reported that last week Syrian President Bashar al-Assad met with Iraq’s Saddam Hussein on the border between the two countries. The article said Assad took along his brother, Maher, and the head of the Syrian Intelligence Service with him to the meeting.

This meeting between two presidents of two rival Baath parties of two countries, who did not like or trust each other, seemed strange to me at the time. Recent reports from a senior Syrian journalist, Nizar Najoef, who has recently defected to Western Europe, suggest that this meeting may have been for more than just a get

together for a friendly chat. It may have been to coordinate the transfer of Iraq’s WMD across the border into Syria in the event Iraq was overrun by foreign forces, and the Iraqi maneuvers along the border on the Iraqi side may have involved the scurrying movement of special units of Saddam’s Republican Guard, who could have been in the process of concealing them along the border for a quick transfer to the Syrians, if necessary.

I linked the events of Update 81A in 2002 with a report from a Dutch newspaper article of January 5, 2004. It carried a letter from Nizar Nijoef in which he identified three Syrian sites where Iraq’s WMD are stored. Nijoef says he knows where they are hidden. Does he know? I honestly don’t know, and I cannot vouch for the validity of his claim, but it does explain the strange meeting of Assad and Hussein in 2002.

The Newspaper was “Die Telegraff,” and Nijoef claims the storage places to be as follows:
1. Sjinsjar on the Lebanese border with Syria.
2. The villege of Tal Snan.
3. In a vast complex of tunnels that are part of a great underground factory, built by the North Koreans, for producing Syrian Scud missiles. He claims that Iraqi chemical weapons and long-range missiles are stored in these tunnels. This underground complex is said to be beneath the town of al- Baida near the city of Hama in northern Syria.

Is his report the truth? I don’t know! But if it is, then you may rest assured the U.S. and Israeli Intelligences will find out, or already know one way or the other. And if is true, and I were Bashar Assad, I would be making every effort to make peace with Israel and to get on the “good side” of the United States before

they took action to eliminate the WMD. Oddly enough, this is precisely what Assad has been doing over the last two months.

It is somewhat ironic that the aforementioned Syrian city of Hama is ancient Hamath, which will soon mark the northern extent of the vast land grant promised to Israel by God through Abraham and Isaac. The vast grant will be occupied by Israel for a thousand during the reign of its Messiah.

Last year I issued a Prophecy Update titled “Kurds in the Whey.” In it I discussed the role of the Kurds in the northern neck of Iraq. It is quite obvious that the shortest distance between Iran and Syria is across this northern neck. Do not be surprised if they discover some WMD have, and possibly still are, being moved across this land of the Kurds, or put in remote places in Iraq for future use. Believe it or not, Syria, Iran, and North Korea really are an axis of terror, and Osama ben Laden is among them.

In last year’s Prophecy Updates, I indicated I would continue to watch both the Syrians and the Israelis regarding the reality of negotiations between them that could lead to a false peace settlement between them. So far it has been a lot of rhetoric between them to create the effect of which is the “good guy” who really wants peace, and who is the “bad” guy who doesn’t. The situation is worth watching, but until more than rhetoric to gain press favor and headlines stops, I simply intend to just keep on listening and watching for something real.

A compound in western Syria with buildings and hundreds of missile-shaped items has been identified as functionally related to a nuclear reactor Israel destroyed northeast of Damascus in 2007.

Satellite footage of the site in Masyaf was obtained by the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security and shows a compound built in a ravine and surrounded by what appears to be a line of trenches.

While there are no security measures visible in the commercial satellite imagery, ISIS said building a facility in a ravine was a common method of providing general protection and isolation.

Several years ago, a military base near Masyaf was mentioned as a possible hiding place for weapons of mass destruction that Saddam Hussein might have sent to Syria before the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

ISIS head David Albright, who analyzed the satellite footage, told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that the site at Masyaf could be a military storage facility. Hundreds of items seen stored in rows out in the open could be missiles or truck beds, he said.

“We have identified one site and learned the approximate locations of three other sites as well,” Albright said.

On Thursday, the International Atomic Energy Agency’s governing board convened in Vienna to discuss Syria’s continued refusal to allow inspectors to visit the site of the al-Kibar reactor, in Syria’s Deir Alzour region, that was destroyed by Israel in September 2007, or other sites, like the one near Masyaf that are suspected of being functionally related to the reactor.

When the IAF bombed the reactor it was two-to-three weeks away from becoming operational and it would have been capable of producing plutonium for nuclear weapons.

IAEA director-general Yukiya Amano told the board on Thursday that he recently sent a letter to Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem urging him to grant inspectors access to the sites.

“Syria has not cooperated with the agency since June 2008 in connection with the unresolved issues related to the Deir Alzour site and some other locations,” Amano said. “As a consequence, the agency has not been able to make progress towards resolving the outstanding issues related to those sites.”

Albright said that he commissioned the satellite photos of the suspected site near Masyaf to raise awareness of Syria’s continued violations ahead of the IAEA meeting.

“The issue needs more attention and there needs to be a special inspection by the IAEA at al-Kibar and other sites that are relevant,” he said. “The issue is not getting enough attention and Syria can destroy evidence and can get away with it by stonewalling the IAEA.”

Column One: Obama’s Arabian dreams

US President Barack Obama claims to be a big fan of telling the truth. In media interviews ahead of his trip to Saudi Arabia and Egypt and during his big speech in Cairo on Thursday, he claimed that the centerpiece of his Middle East policy is his willingness to tell people hard truths.

Indeed, Obama made three references to the need to tell the truth in his so-called address to the Muslim world.

Unfortunately, for a speech billed as an exercise in truth telling, Obama’s address fell short.

Far from reflecting hard truths, Obama’s speech reflected political convenience.

Obama’s so-called hard truths for the Islamic world

included statements about the need to fight so-called extremists; give equal rights to women; provide freedom of religion; and foster democracy.

Unfortunately, all of his statements on these issues were nothing more than abstract, theoretical declarations devoid of policy prescriptions.

He spoke of the need to fight Islamic terrorists without mentioning that their intellectual, political and monetary foundations and support come from the very mosques, politicians and regimes in Saudi Arabia and Egypt that Obama extols as moderate and responsible.

He spoke of the need to grant equality to women without making mention of common Islamic practices like so-called honor killings, and female genital mutilation.

He ignored the fact that throughout the lands of Islam women are denied basic legal and human rights. And then he qualified his statement by mendaciously claiming that women in the US similarly suffer from an equality deficit.

In so discussing this issue, Obama sent the message that he couldn’t care less about the plight of women in the Islamic world.

So, too, Obama spoke about the need for religious freedom but ignored Saudi Arabian religious apartheid. He talked about the blessings of democracy but ignored the problems of tyranny.

In short, Obama’s “straight talk” to the Arab world, which began with his disingenuous claim that like America, Islam is committed to “justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings,” was consciously and fundamentally fraudulent. And this fraud was advanced to facilitate his goal of placing the Islamic world on equal moral footing with the free world.

In a like manner, Obama’s tough “truths” about Israel were marked by factual and moral dishonesty in the service of political ends.

On the surface, Obama seemed to scold the Muslim world for its all-pervasive Holocaust denial and craven Jew hatred. By asserting that Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism are wrong, he seemed to be upholding his earlier claim that America’s ties to Israel are “unbreakable.”

Unfortunately, a careful study of his statements shows that Obama was actually accepting the Arab view that Israel is a foreign – and therefore unjustifiable – intruder in the Arab world. Indeed, far from attacking their rejection of Israel, Obama legitimized it.

The basic Arab argument against Israel is that the only reason Israel was established was to sooth the guilty consciences of Europeans who were embarrassed about the Holocaust. By their telling, the Jews have no legal, historic or moral rights to the Land of Israel.

This argument is completely false. The international community recognized the legal, historic and moral rights of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel long before anyone had ever heard of Adolf Hitler.

In 1922, the League of Nations mandated the “reconstitution” – not the creation – of the Jewish commonwealth in the Land of Israel in its historic borders on both sides of the Jordan River.

But in his self-described exercise in truth telling, Obama ignored this basic truth in favor of the Arab lie. He gave credence to this lie by stating wrongly that “the aspiration for a Jewish homeland is rooted in a tragic history.”

He then explicitly tied Israel’s establishment to the Holocaust by moving to a self-serving history lesson about the genocide of European Jewry.

Even worse than his willful blindness to the historic, legal and moral justifications for Israel’s rebirth, was Obama’s characterization of Israel itself. Obama blithely, falsely and obnoxiously compared Israel’s treatment of Palestinians to white American slave owners’ treatment of their black slaves. He similarly cast Palestinian terrorists in the same morally pure category as slaves. Perhaps most repulsively, Obama elevated Palestinian terrorism to the moral heights of slave rebellions and the US civil rights movement by referring to it by its Arab euphemism, “resistance.”

BUT AS disappointing and frankly obscene as Obama’s rhetoric was, the policies he outlined were much worse. While prattling about how Islam and America are two sides of the same coin, Obama managed to spell out two clear policies. First, he announced that he will compel Israel to completely end all building for Jews in Judea, Samaria, and eastern, northern and southern Jerusalem. Second, he said that he will strive to convince Iran to substitute its nuclear weapons program with a nuclear energy program.
