In Part 2, I will repeat the portion from Part 1 down to John 14:18. After John 14:18 I will begin a continu ing

line by line exposition of PSALM 91.

Psalm 91 is one I have titled “God Watches over His Own, Past, Present, and Future – Trust Him to Watch Over You!” If you take that as the theme of this Psalm, you can make numerous duel applications of verses that can be applied to Jesus, David, the nation of Israel, and many of the faithful in both Old and New Testament examples. There are several verses that fit Jesus, some Jesus and David, some Jesus, David, and the nation of Israel, and some include all faithful believers, but there is a common thread that weaves them all together – God will provide deliverance, so trust him to do what he said he would do in his own way and time.

The concept of David recognizing that the Messiah who was to come, was also the Lord, is clearly stated in Acts 2:29-36 by Peter, by David in Psalm 110, and by Christ in Matthew 22:41-46. The Seven Part Exposition of the 110th Psalm in our Prophecy Update Archives sheds a great deal of light on our Exposition of Psalm 91.

The Devil quoted two verses from Psalm 91 where he tempted Christ in the wilderness after his baptism.

PSALM 91:11,12 – For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. [12] They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Luke 4:9-11 – And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: [10] For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: [11] And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

It is certain that only God understands God, but I also believe that the best understanding a believer can ever develop is by studying the conduct, words, and works of the man Christ Jesus, in whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily.

Colossians 2:9 – For in him

dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

John 14:7-9 – If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

[8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Fa

ther, and it sufficeth us.

[9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

I believe there is only one God who has chosen to work in three offices or persons, the office of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

II Corinthians 5:19 – To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

John 14:10 – Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak un to you

I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

John 16:7 – Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 14:18 – I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

PSALM 91:1,2 – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. [2] I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
I have already exposited on verse 1 in Part 1. I will now begin with the exposition of verse 2.

The Lord is my only refuge in whom I can hide and be certain that the Devil cannot touch me, and he is my only fortress behind whose high walls I can know I am perfectly safe, because the Devil cannot breach them to harm me.

PSALM 91:2 – I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Psalm 2:12 – Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

In the Middle East, at a meal or feast, a kiss on

the neck or cheek between two men is a sign of trust and honor the host has for the guest. The usual Greek word used for “worship” in the New Testament is “proskuneo,” which literally means “to kiss toward.” Failing to trust in the Son, as the only way to salvation in the Father, is a sign of disrespect for him as the only way to the Father, and those who do not honor the Son will perish from the way, suffering the wrath of God in hell.

Luke 7:41-47 – There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

[42] And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? [43] Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most.

And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. [44] And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. [45] Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. [46] My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. [47] Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

PSALM 91:2B – My God; in him will I trust.

Trusting in God is trusting in Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 10:30, “I and my Father are one.” You cannot come to the Father except through the Son.

If you do not honor the Son you cannot honor the Father.

John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 5:39-41 – Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. [40] And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. [41] I receive not honour from men.

John 5:22-24 – For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: [23] That all men should honour the Son, even as they

honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. [24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

PSALM 91:2 – I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

First, we hear the gospel, after that we believe it, after that we trust in the one we believed would save us, and after that we were eternally sealed in Christ by the Spirit forever. The following Scriptures confirm it!

Ephesians 1:12-14 – That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

[13] In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, [14] Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 4:30 – And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Luke 21:25-28 – And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26] Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. [27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. [28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Ephesians 1:6,7 – To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

[7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 2:8 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

10 Jihad Kings among the Kings of Revelation 19:19!

Part 1 – The 10 Jihad Toes of Daniel 2

At the battle of Armageddon most of the kings of the earth will come to join the antichrist in a final attempt to eradicate the nation of Israel.

Among them will be 10 nations representing the 10 Jihad toes of Daniel 2 that drove Israel into the Negev three and one-half years earlier.

Revelation 19:19 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

Some three and one-half years before the final battle of Armageddon, which closes the tribulation period, ten kings of nations out of the territory once occupied by the ancient Roman Empire will attack Israel from the north.

Daniel 2:42 – And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

II Thessalonians 2:3 – Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

The last evil kingdom of antichrist on this earth was to initially be comprised of 10 nations with 10 kings led by the man of sin himself. It was to arise out of the ashes of the old Roman Empire. I have always believed it would rise out of the southern half of the Empire and be made up of 10 Arab nations. I believe the elements for its formation are in place today, and I suspect that the most likely Arab nations of which it will be comprised are Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. Some of these nations are strong like iron, and some are as soft and pliable as clay.

I do not question that in the final battle of Armageddon the descendants of Ham, Shem, and Japheth will be combatants against the nation of Israel. But I have always contended, along with the Bible expositors of the 18th and 19th centuries, that the antichrist’s initial attack would be led by Arab descendants of Abraham. They are the mingled seed of his oldest son Ishmael with the seed of the six sons he sired by Keturah, as well as some of the other offspring of his own father Terah. The empire of the antichrist will be an Islamic empire that eventually takes into it other old world nations. And, in the final great battle of Armageddon, all those nations that made up the world as it was known in A.D. 95 will come against Israel, such that Japheth, Ham, and Shem’s descendants will also be involved.

Daniel 2:41-43 – And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. [42] And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

The 10 toes will consist primarily of Terah’s descendants. Abraham came out of Terah. Out of Abraham came the leaders of the three great monotheistic faiths associated with Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad.

And they have always been in conflict. (See Archive Update 78 Diagram)

The inspired word in Daniel 2:43, from which the word “mingled” comes, is ARAB, which means “to interlace or mix.” The “seed of men” refers to non-descendants of the man Abraham, from which both Jews and Arabs descended. “They” refers to the 10 toes of Daniel’s statue in Daniel 2:42, which have 10 kings over them. Isaac, the father of Israel, had seven half brothers – Ishmael from Hagar and the six sons of Keturah. It was from these seven half brothers that the Arab world has been primarily created. The descendants of Israel have been more likely to marry within the blood line of the man Israel than have the Arabs to marry within their separate bloodlines of Hagar and Keturah, and the Arabs have also intermingled with non-descendants of Abraham more than have the Jews.

Daniel 2:43 – And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

Just as iron and clay do not hold together very long, the 10 Arab nations will only hold together long enough to fulfill God’s end time tribulation period prophecies. The saved will be caught up on the sounding of the seventh trump to be judged in heaven, and the kingdom of God will all be united in heaven, waiting to return to earth with Christ at his Second Advent.

Revelation 11:15 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Daniel 2:44 – And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The God of heaven will call all the saved of all the ages together in heaven during the “days of these kings,” and will initially “set up” his kingdom, from whence he will return to earth with it as its head, after the saved have been judged in heaven. Christ’s coming kingdom will “break in pieces and consume all the kingdoms” of the present world, and his kingdom alone will rule.

Revelation 11:15-18 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [16] And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, [17] Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. [18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Christ, the stone, came from the mountain representing God, without any human instrumentation, but by God’s Spirit forming his body in a virgin’s womb. Christ will return to destroy those morally destroying the earth. All of the evil that came out of the Babylonian, Medo- Persian, Macedonian, and Roman Empires will be laid waste by his Second Advent.

Daniel 2:45 – Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and

the interpretation thereof sure.

The Scriptures which follow describe the coming of the great Stone, the great Rock, coming with his kingdom.

Revelation 19:11-18 – And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. [12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. [13] And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. [14] And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. [15] And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. [16] And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. [17] And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; [18] That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.

Daniel 2:44 – And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

Jude 23 – And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Revelation 3:2-4 – Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. [3] Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.

If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. [4] Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Revelation 19:7-9 – Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. [8] And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Israel now paying price for longtime efforts to get smart with America

The Americans play no games.

The moment Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s entourage was told that there will be no joint statement, that the media won’t be allowed into the Oval Office, that there will be no photo-op, and that the meeting will be held at a late hour of night, the PM should have realized – and he did – that this won’t be a happy funeral.

The Americans, who love symbols and ceremonies, were not impressed or scared off by the laud applause Netanyahu received at the AIPAC Conference. It may have worked the other way around: The laud cheers may have encouraged White House officials to show the Israeli delegation and its US supporters who’s the boss in America.

There is no randomness over there. Everything was apparently planned carefully, and Israel’s prime minister, who in the past 20 years may have been the most welcome guest at the Oval Office, was received as if he was a lowly official from Senegal.

It needs to be said that the Americans treated Bibi Netanyahu and his people rudely. Even if they have plenty of qualms, this is not how one treats a leader whose predecessors went from one red carpet to another at the White House. The president himself should have done some thinking – about everything that happened before, and mostly about what’s to come.

They warned us

Meanwhile, Netanyahu too needs to do some thinking. Ever since he came to power via real democratic elections, and ever since he formed an impossible government, the State of Israel’s global status has been deteriorating to the point of genuine danger. We’re approaching, with immense speed, the realization of the well-known song: “The whole world is against us.”

So you think Gaza is facing trouble and sanctions? We are the ones facing them – some of them are hidden from view, while others are well known. The most terrible thing is the de-legitimatization campaign conducted against the State of Israel across the world.

Almost all of us, and almost all our governments thought that we can get smart with the Americans, who never (and I mean never) recognized our control of the territories, never recognized the borders beyond the 1967 lines, and never recognized a united Jerusalem.

We thought we can get along with friends through winks. Yet they warned us; oh, did they ever warn us. Now, Obama is presenting us with the bill of all American administrations.

Obama is exaggerating, conducting himself too harshly, and insulting us – yet we’re no angels either. Besides, Obama is allowed to do it. He’s America. How many times this week

did you hear and read that joke about the eight-ton elephant that can sit down anywhere it wishes? Well, Obama sat down on us this week.

Obama recalls bunker-buster bomb kits to bar Israeli strike on Iran

Shortly after Vice President Joe Biden’s Israel visit ended on March 11 in high dudgeon over the approval 1,600 new homes in East Jerusalem, US president Barack Obama ordered a consignment of Joint Direct Attack Munition- JDAM already on its way to Israel to be diverted to the US Air Force base on the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia. This step, the pointer to a US arms embargo for preventing Israel attacking Iran’s nuclear sites is first revealed here by DEBKAfile’s military sources.

US military sources describe the consignment as consisting of 387 JDAM kits for attachment to the warheads of 2,000-pound BLU-109/MK-84 or the 1,000-pound BLU-110/MK-83 bunker-busters for their conversion into smart bombs.

On March 13, DEBKAfile disclosed that the Obama administration was pondering withholding from Israel military hardware that could be used for an Israeli attack on Iran.

In late February, we reported that defense minister Ehud Barak had submitted to defense secretary Robert Gates a list of the items Israel required urgently to stand up to a four-front assault by Iran and its allies – mainly air force ordnance, certain types of missile and advanced electronic devices. Barak made it clear that all these items must be present in Israel before the outbreak of hostilities. The requests were so urgent that the minister proposed that if Washington was reluctant to hand them directly to Israel, they could be stored for the interim in the big American emergency depots in Israel’s Negev.

The 387 DJAP kits were due for delivery at one of the Israeli Air Force’s Negev bases in March. Because of his concern over the US president’s step to divert the shipment, prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu decided to take the defense minister with him to Washington next Monday, March 22 and have him present at the meeting with Obama which the US media reports has been fixed for Tuesday (the day after his address to the AIPAC annual conference). Together they will ask for the delayed munitions to be released and handed over as part of any general understandings they may reach.

DEBKAfile reports that the pair of Israeli Gulfstream Vs converted to spy planes sighted over Budapest on March 17 may have been an Israeli signal of its concern over White House measures for keeping the means of attacking Iran out of its hands.

The long-haul flights, demonstrating the Israel Air Force’s ability to cover the distance to Iran, took the aircraft over Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania as well as Hungary. The two planes carried out maneuvers over Budapest international airport with no attempt at concealment.

Because they fly in pairs, Western aviation experts say the electronic measures aboard are able to detect the functioning of electronic devices, radar stations, communications centers and cell phones on the ground, locate them and relay the data for warplanes to destroy them.

Two years ago, in June 2008, Israel deployed more that 100 Air Force F-16 and F-15 warplanes over Greece and the Aegean Sea in a big exercise designed to showcase its long-range capabilities.

It is certain that only God understands God, but I also believe that the best understanding a believer can ever develop is by studying the conduct, words, and works of the man Christ Jesus, in whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily.

Colossians 2:9 – For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

John 14:7-9 – If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. [8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

[9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

I believe there is only one God who has chosen to work in three offices or persons, the office of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

II Corinthians 5:19 – To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

John 14:10 – Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

John 16:7 – Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 14:18 – I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

PSALM 91:1 – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

This Psalm is not unique in its character. Quite a few of the Psalms have parallel characterizations sprinkled through their verses. Jesus Christ, the Lord and Messiah of David, dwells in the secret place of the Father as part of the Godhead. He abides in the Father and the Father abides in him. Since believers abide in the Son they also abide in the Father in him, and spiritually sit in him in the same heavenly places in the Father.

John 14:19,20 – Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

[20] At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

Ephesians 2:4-7 – But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, [5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) [6] And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: [7] That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 10:12-14 – But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; [13] From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made

his footstool. [14] For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

I Corinthians 1:29-31 – That no flesh should glory in his presence.

[30] But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: [31] That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Believers also spiritually dwell in the secret place of the most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Believer’s souls are eternally secure in their position in the Godhead in Christ.

John 10:28-30 – And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. [29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. [30] I and my Father are one.

Matthew 28:18 – And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

PSALM 91:1 – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Our position in Christ will always cause us to dwell in the secret place of the most High, and to abide in the shadow of the Almighty forever.

Romans 8:38,39 – For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hebrews 13:5,6 – Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. [6] So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Hebrews 4:14-16 – Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

[15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Syrian president tells Hebzollah’s al-Manar television, ‘We are in a temporary situation which will either end in war or in peace. There is no other choice apart from these two.’ Israel, he says, is an enemy which only understands the language of force.

Syrian President Bashar Assad told Hezbollah’s al-Manar television station on Wednesday evening, “We are in a situation of neither war nor peace, and this is a temporary situation which will either end in peace or in war. There is no other choice apart from these two.”

According to Assad, “We believe we are facing an enemy which only understands the language of force. We believe peace is not at arm’s length for the region, but in any event there are many ways to reach the goals and they must not necessarily go through war.”

He noted that “the Syrian army is developing itself”, and warned that Damascus “will enter any war imposed on us.”

According to the Syrian president, his country cannot remain neutral when it comes to the “resistance”. He also stressed that Syria was interested in having good relations with Lebanon.

Assad was asked during the interview why his country was avoiding launching a “war of liberation” against Israel.

“First of all,” he replied, “we are talking about peace. War is the worst thing and no one is looking for war in any place in the world. We must continue seeking peace as long as there is hope. Do we have hope with the Israeli government? Not at all. But we believe that Israel today, according to what we are hearing from Israel’s supporters, has no other alternatives apart from peace.”

‘Our army developing’

According to the Syrian president, “The Israeli power of deterrence has worn out over time, although Israel is boosting its power. However, at the same time, the ‘resistance’ perception is growing stronger as well in the Arab street. In practice, Israel has become weaker and its military force guarantees nothing.

“Many of its supporters, especially from the Zionist organizations and several radical Jewish organizations, have begun saying that they believed in war in the past, but now they believe that there is no solution for Israel other than peace. There is no escape but to look for the peace process first.

“As for me, in terms of a war of liberation or resistance, the resistance doesn’t grow from a decision made by a country, but in a popular way. Syria is a country with a developing army.”

Asked about the chances for a war against Israel, Assad said: “When a war is imposed on you, you must enter it regardless of the balance of power.

But this is not a simple matter and it is not hidden in a declaration of war. This issue is not a matter of enthusiasm.”

The Syrian president slammed former US President George W. Bush, who he said had failed in the move he led against Damascus.

Addressing current US President Barack Obama, Assad said there was a clear difference between the two administrations.

“We don’t hear the language of dictations. There are differences in the worldviews and its natural, but the dictation language no longer exists,” he said.

U.S.-Israel talks end without agreement

The U.S. and Israel haven’t resolved a dispute over Israel’s plan to build new housing in east Jerusalem, despite several days of high-level talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. leaders.

Before leaving the U.S. early Thursday, Netanyahu said he thought some progress had been made in defusing the unusually public spat.

“I think we have found the golden path between Israel’s traditional policies and our desire to move forward toward peace,” the Israeli leader said as he boarded his plane for the trip back to Jerusalem.

But U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration officials said the last-minute talks late Wednesday between the visiting Netanyahu and former Sen. George Mitchell had not ended tensions over Israeli construction in the part of Jerusalem that Palestinians want to be a capital

of a separate state.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the closed-door talks were confidential.

No announcement

U.S. and Israeli officials told The Associated Press that the talks were aimed at getting Israeli-Palestinian peace talks back on track.

Netanyahu had extended his stay by hours to work on a deal, but the talks ended at about 8 p.m. without any announcements, one official said.

The two sides had hoped to come up with mutually acceptable ideas to improve an atmosphere poisoned by announcements of the new Jewish housing projects.

An Israeli official said Israel wants to see talks with the Palestinians resume quickly.

The evening talks were intended to promote that goal, the official said.

Netanyahu twice pushed back his departure from Washington after talks with Obama, Vice-President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton failed to reach consensus on what Israel could do to repair damage caused by the housing announcements.

During Netanyahu’s frosty visit, “the U.S. made clear it is looking for steps to increase confidence and show commitment to the process,” said Mark Toner, the deputy State Department spokesman.

Earlier Wednesday, the Obama administration challenged Israel to explain yet another announced plan to expand Jewish housing in east Jerusalem, the same issue that soured U.S.-Israeli relations ahead of Netanyahu’s three-day visit to Washington this week.

Palestinians claim east Jerusalem as the capital of a future independent state, and the United States sees continued Israeli building there as a provocation that makes peace negotiations harder.

No concessions on construction

Netanyahu offered no concessions during his visit on an earlier plan to build 1,600 homes for Jews in the disputed part

of the city. Netanyahu’s government has refused to back off steady expansion of Jewish neighborhoods in the majority Arab city section.

An aide to Netanyahu said the prime minister was caught off-guard by the announcement Wednesday that the Jerusalem municipality has approved 20 new apartments for Jews.

Mitchell returned to the U.S. on Tuesday from talks with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on the West Bank, apparently without agreement on when the Palestinians would be willing to open a new round of U.S.-mediated talks.

U.S. officials said discussions about the peace talks continue, and Mitchell plans to return to the region after the Jewish Passover holidays, which begin next week.

In an exceptional step, no photographs of Netanyahu’s meeting Tuesday with President Barack Obama at the White House were permitted, and neither side has provided a substantive account of the session.

Jordan: Israel is playing with fire

King Abdullah says Netanyahu gov’t “must decide if it wants conflict or peace.”

AMMAN, Jordan — Jordan’s king warned Israel in a rare public rebuke that it is “playing with fire” with its settlement policy, and said in comments published Thursday the Jewish state must decide whether it wants peace or war.

“We have warned repeatedly that Israel is playing with fire,” King Abdullah II said in an interview published with local newspapers.

The comments from Abdullah, whose country signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1994, underscore the Jordanian leader’s frustration with recent Israeli announcements of new housing for Jews in east Jerusalem.

Israel “must decide if it wants conflict or peace,” The Jordanian monarch said, adding that if it is indeed peace, then Israel must take “tangible actions” toward ending settlements and returning to negotiations with Palestinians.

“People are fed up with an open-ended process that does not lead to results,” Abdullah said.

A two-state solution was the “only solution” to the crisis, the king said, warning that if no progress is made toward peace soon, then a new cycle violence will erupt for which “the whole world will pay the price.”

Abdullah firmly rejected Israeli plans to add 1,600 new housing units to Jerusalem’s Ramat Shlomo neighborhood, saying Jordan “condemns all Israeli measures to change the identity of Jerusalem and empty it of its Arab Christian and Muslim residents.”

Abdullah spoke ahead of this weekend’s Arab summit conference in Libya, where Arab leaders are expected to decide whether to keep an Arab peace initiative — giving Israel full Arab recognition in return for occupied Arab lands — on the table.

He also reiterated his rejection of the so-called ‘Jordan option,’ an idea espoused by some Israeli hard-liners to turn Jordan into a Palestinian state.

“No one can enforce such a solution and whoever speaks of such illusions is talking about an impossible scenario,” Abdullah said.

EXPOSITION OF DAVID’S PSALM 110 – PART 8

PSALM 110:7 – He shall drink of the brook in the way: t herefore shall

he lift up the head.

Please see Part 7 for an exposition on the identity of the “he” and “the brook.”

The two “he’s” represent “the Rock” that followed the nation of Israel in its Exodus wanderings, and is “the Stone” cut out of the Father without human hands, as well as part of the triune Godhead of Father, Rock, and Spirit, which fulfill the offices of the One God.

II Samuel 23:1-3 – Now these be the last words of David.

David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, [2] The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. [3] The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

Verse 3 has the Rock of Israel, the Son, Speaking to God the Father.

Romans 3:26 – To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

and grow up as calves of the stall.

II Samuel 23:5 – Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

Luke 1:31-33 – And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

[32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: [33] And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

II Samuel 23:6 – But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

“Belial” cames from a Hebrew word formed from the combination of two other Hebrew words, pronounced Bel-ee (meaning “failure”), and Yaw-al was a term of scorn, meaning “to waste one’s worth.” The term is used in the Old Testament to describe people who were lawless and rebellious. In the New Testament it is used to refer to Satan.

I cannot think of a better term to describe the Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades, and Fatah. They are like prickly thorn balls, with which the only solution to evade injury is to avoid contact with them. To make contact by touching them is to insure injury. It is ironic that this is what Israel has realized it must do to avoid injury to their people, and is building a security barrier to accomplish it.

II Samuel 23:7 – But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

A second irony occurs in this verse to accompany the one in verse six. The Palestinians must be fenced in with protective weapons at the 27 check points to keep them from pricking Israel.

It is also somewhat ironic that the Palestinians, along with the other nations of the world, when they come against Israel in the Negev at the final battle of Armageddon, are prophesied to “be utterly burned with fire in the same place.”

Revelation 16:16 – And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Revelation 19:19-21 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

[20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Luke 17:28-30 – Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; [29] But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. [30] Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Luke 21:25-27 – And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26] Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. [27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
