WHAT IS THE NATIONALITY OF THE ANTICHRIST?

Part 5

Micah 5:1-4 – Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek. [2] But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. [3] Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

[4] And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

These verses, exposited in Parts 1 through 4, were written more than 700 years before the birth of Christ. And yet they present: Bethlehem as His birthplace, His rejection as ruler over Israel, His last Passover in the daughter of troops Jerusalem, His head beatings by the troops of Pontius Pilate, Herod, and the High Priest, His rejection as the judge of Israel, His Father’s siege against Israel because of their rejection of the Son (which has lasted some 2000 years), Christ’s temporary rejection of Israel, His Second Advent as Messiah after Israel’s travail of 1260 days in the Negev Wilderness, at which time His brethren will return with Him to the nation of Israel, and the first 1000 years of His eternal kingdom, which phases into the final heaven age when the present earth and heavens pass away.

Micah 5:5 – And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

Now, in verse 5, we find that “this man” will himself “be the peace” because He personally brings it in by Himself when he returns to be “great unto the ends of the earth” for 1000 years.

“This man” who brings “the peace” of a thousand years is, of course, Jesus Christ. He is the primary contextual subject from verses 1 through 5. What happens to motivate His return to bring in the millennial reign is the movement of the Assyrian into the land of Israel. It is the final defeat and destruction of “the Assyrian” that will mark Christ’s Second Advent, and the beginning of His millennial reign.

When Micah wrote his prophecies the Assyrians had already driven into the northern Kingdom of Israel, and all that remained of Israel proper was its southern Kingdom of Judah. So what were the borders of the land of Assyria when Micah wrote the fifth chapter of his book? The borders of the Assyrian territory stretched northward from roughly where Ramallah is located in the West Bank to the present day southern border of Turkey, and eastward to the Mediterranean Sea to establish its western limits, then westward across the Euphrates River to the Tigris River north of modern Baghdad in Iraq. Technically, I suppose one might be able to say this future “Assyrian” might come out of southern Turkey, northern Iraq, or Lebanon, but since modern day Syria occupies some 85% of the area covered by the Assyrian empire at the time of Micah’s writings, I am persuaded the Assyrian antichrist will come out of Syria. The possible argument that Micah 5:5 was fulfilled during the old Assyrian invasion of Micah’s day, is thwarted by the context pattern of the four verses before it all still being unfulfilled at the time they were written, and then being linked contextually to verse 5 by “this man,” and “the peace.” Additionally, this argument is smashed by the verse that follows it.

Micah 5:6 – And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within

our borders.

From the time of Micah’s writings to the present day, Israel has never “wasted the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof.” I will exposit specifically on both these locations in Prophecy Update Number 67, Lord willing.

The “Assyrian” of Micah 5:5 is not a European, an American, a Russian, an Eskimo, an Aborigine, an Ethiopian, or a platypus.

He is an Assyrian, who becomes chief prince of the land where the descendants of Meshech and Tubal were dwelling when Ezekiel wrote his prophecies.

I will elaborate on this in future updates, Lord willing. The expression involving “seven shepherds and eight principal men” is most assuredly an oft used Hebrew idiom. It was the Hebrew manner of expressing “more than enough.” Seven is the Hebrew word for “complete,” implying “enough,” and when “eight” is added to it, the expression means “more than enough.” When the Assyrian comes into Israel, and treads within its borders north of Beersheba for 1260 days, then Jesus will return to restore peace for 1000 years on this planet. Christ’s Second Advent is accompanied by some 5/6 of the Assyrian’s armies being destroyed by the brightness of His coming. His destruction of the Assyrian and his false prophet will make whatever force Israel is able to muster up in the Negev for the battle of Armageddon “more than enough.”

When the Assyrian sets on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, as the willful King of the North preparing to launch his final attack on Israel at the battle of Armageddon, he will be beyond all help by men and Satan.

I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Ezekiel 38:14-16 – Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord God; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? [15] And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: [16] And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

Zechariah 13:8,9 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. [9] And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

Revelation 12:6 –And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Micah 5:5,6 – And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men. [6] And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

I have established, in previous updates, that “this man” of verse 5 is “the peace” himself because he ends the earthly reign of “the Assyrian” at the battle of Armageddon, and then brings in “the peace” that lasts for 1000 years on this present planet. It is only Jesus Christ himself who has the power to bring such a thing to pass.

I believe verse 6 to be one of the most interesting

verses in the Scriptures that have yet to be fulfilled. Why am I so certain it has never been fulfilled? Because Israel has not wasted the land of Assyria with the sword, or the land of Nimrod in its entrances thereof, since Micah wrote these prophecies! At the time he wrote the borders of the expanding Assyrian Empire covered all of modern day Israel north of Ramallah, all of modern Syria, all of modern Lebanon, and all of modern Iraq north of Baghdad. The historical settling of this area between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers after the flood in Noah’s day is of great value in the interpretation of Micah 5:6.

Genesis 10:1,6,8,22 – Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. [6] And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. [8] And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. [22] The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.

Assyria apparently derived its name from Asshur, the son of Shem. Later in time Asshur was worshipped as the chief God of the Assyrians. Asshur went into the northern area of the fertile plain lying between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, and his descendants that settled it were eventually called Assyrians. It is certain that Israel never wasted this area. Nimrod was the grandson of Ham through Cush.

He founded a great kingdom between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, south of the area of Asshur’s descendants, that extended south to the Persian Gulf. The “entrances” into it from the east, which is the direction the Israelis would come to “waste” it, were the shallow sections of the Euphrates River that could be waded to gain entrance. The Euphrates was, and is, perhaps the greatest carrier of top water silt on this planet. The rapid descent gradient of its waters in the steep mountains of Turkey was able to sustain an enormous quantity of erosion debris cut off the mountain slopes, but when the water came onto the flat plains of modern day Iraq its speed was abruptly lowered, and the silt deposition rapidly built up lees across the Euphrates, making it possible for some areas to be waded. The long series of dams currently stretching from Turkey, through Syria, and into Iraq have helped to regulate the flow and silt deposition of the Euphrates, but at the time of Micah’s writings there would have been a plurality of wading entrances into the land of Nimrod across the Euphrates.

Now, why have I gone into such detail as to the locations of Assyria and the land of Nimrod? Because when Israel comes up out of the Negev at the battle of Armageddon, after having been confined there by the Assyrian for 1260 days, it will conquer a specified amount of territory to its north and east.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Malachi 4:1 – For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

Zechariah 12:6-9 – In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem. [7] The Lord also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah. [8] In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them. [9] And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Zechariah 14:9 – And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

Micah 5:6 – And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

Israel will claim all the land from the River of Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River, with a northern latitudinal border extending to Hamath (Hama) in Syria, and a southern border extending to Kadesh in the Sinai.

And all this is not by accident, but by design and promise, for it was God’s ancient land grant promise to Abraham and to Israel. Its periphery is laid out in Genesis and Ezekiel. Its northern limits were to extend to the latitude of Hamath (Hama) in Syria, and its southern limits to the latitude of Kadesh. Its longitudinal limits to the west were to extend to the Mediterranean Sea and the River of Egypt, and its eastern longitudinal limits were to extend to the “entrances thereof” of the Euphrates River. This is the area of Micah 5:6 that Israel will “waste,” and then claim for a thousand years.

Genesis 15:18 – In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Ezekiel 47:17,19 – And the border from the sea shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side. [19] And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.

After Christ has himself, by himself, defeated the Assyrian at the battle of Armageddon to bring in “the peace” of a thousand years, then Israel will roar north out of the Negev to mop up what is left of a demoralized army that is fleeing north. Israel will take Jerusalem back, then drive north, northeast, and east to claim all the land west of the Euphrates River.

Isaiah 66:15,16 – For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. [16] For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.

Zechariah 14:12-14 – And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. [13] And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. [14] And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.

Micah 4:6,7 – In that day, saith the Lord, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; [7] And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the Lord shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.

President Al-Assad, for his part, underlined the necessity of support for
resistance and noted that the US stance on Palestine, Syria and the other
occupied territories has not changed deeply, because they are directed by

It appears that the people who advised the Obama team to maximize the
pressure on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, confident that he would
buckle, failed to take into account that grossly unreasonable pressure would
actually empower him to stand his ground.

Today Washington is arguing that Israel should sacrifice its interests so
that it will be easier for America in its dealings with Iran, the Arab
world, the entire Moslem world – and more.

But at the very same time they are proposing the quick conclusion of a deal
creating a sovereign Palestinian state with a house of cards arrangement
involving various third parties in order to guarantee Israel’s security.

But here’s the intuitive problem:

If today Washington claims Israel must subordinate its interests to serve
American needs, who is to say that the very same thing wouldn’t happen when
the “two state solution” fails.

The nightmare scenario: a sovereign terrorist Palestinian state in the very
heart of Israel and it runs counter to America’s pressing interests to do
something about it.

How does an icon of the New Left like Tom Hayden – the former Mr.

Jane Fonda – who waxed rapturously about North Vietnam’s promise of an atheist workers’ paradise of equality, then endorse what would seem its polar opposite in radical Iraqi Shi’ite leader Muqtada al-Sadr, whose ideology openly preaches religious tyranny and extreme inequality?

Or what about feminist icon Susan Sontag, darling of The New York Times Book Review, who promoted “free love” in America while lauding North Vietnam’s repression of public displays of affection? She more recently defended the attacks on 9/11 by people representing the enslavement of women worldwide as a justified “result of American alliances and actions.”

After the September 11 attacks on the Twin Towers and Pentagon in 2001, when Islamists brought their religious war to the soil of America, most folks thought the United States finally had an enemy the political Left could and should get behind fighting.

To the bewilderment of observers, however, the side of the political spectrum that prides itself on its supposed history of “anti-fascism” (“Hitler-Stalin Pact? What Hitler-Stalin Pact?”) has spent its time since 9/11 defending jihadists and other militant Muslims from the supposed warmongering of… the United States of America.

Glazov’s thesis, in a nutshell, is: The Left’s hatred of America is not the cause, it’s a symptom. Hard-core leftists hate simply for the sake of hate.

The outspoken leaders of the hard Left, Glazov documents, are not happy, contented people.

They are as alienated from what they would scornfully call a “bourgeois” lifestyle as any suicide bomber.

As Glazov chronicles, they are invariably moral wrecks in their personal lives who lash out at anything that promotes the pursuit of real happiness in others. They fall in love with mass-murdering reprobates who propose utopia of any kind – though utopia is the cover motive, not the real attraction.

Glazov, editor of FrontPage Magazine, holds a PhD with a specialty in Russian foreign policy, but he also has a personal history that motivates him to wonder why people with modern Western privileges would gravitate toward old-world savagery.

Glazov recalls Eric Hofer, the legendary “longshoreman philosopher,” who addressed the issue of the True Believer in the 1950s and updates the arguments for today’s world. Hofer exposed pro-communists of his era as unbalanced fanatics, and Glazov finds this explains how true believers can switch from supporting one murderous ideology to another that seemingly has opposite goals.

This is the only satisfying explanation I’ve seen as to why devotees of Ho Chi Minh, Mao, Castro and Stalin would seamlessly transition their support to Iraq’s Saddam Hussein, Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Syria’s Bashar Assad and an assortment of jihadists.

There was once a certain logic for people who believed in socialism to be soft on communism. Such people, Bob Novak once stated, considered communist dictators to be “the bad boys of social justice.” And while we know that the mass-murdering thugs of the Comintern were about no such thing, we could see how leftists could fall for it.

But that makes no sense when it comes to Islamofascism, jihad and Shari’a law. What can it be that attracts the hard Left to these ultimate bad boys of social injustice?

The common thread is violence and horror, which, Glazov concludes, “is what attracts him in the first place.”

As Alfred the butler explains to Bruce Wayne in 2008’s top box-office hit The Dark Knight, “Some men aren’t looking for anything logical, like money. They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with.

Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

So, like moths to the flame, the hard Left is drawn to totalitarian dictators in a bizarre death cult. From The New York Times’s Walter Duranty’s covering up Josef Stalin’s forced famine in the Ukraine to Noam Chomsky’s denying Pol Pot’s atrocities in Cambodia to Shirley MacLaine’s deification of Mao at the height of the Cultural Revolution and Norman Mailer’s pilgrimage to Cuba, the Left’s genuflecting at the feet of mass murder goes on.

In a league of his own is the most recent example, Hollywood darling Sean Penn. In the past few years, Madonna’s ex has circled the globe to support Iraqi terrorists, the mullahs of Iran and Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.

Then he comes home to win an Oscar for Milk, which promotes martyred sainthood for a man who would be summarily executed by any of the regimes and thugs Penn is lauding.

When Penn was married to the Material Girl and punching out photographers, he was scorned as Exhibit A of Hollywood excess by the tabloids and the media.

Now that he visits genocidal thugs and says nice things about them, he is a legit “social commentator?” Puh-leez!

Besides a hatred for America, Glazov explores two other common threads of the communist and Islamofascist movements: anti-Semitism and the subjugation of women. From Stalin to Osama bin Laden, the hatred of Jews is a staple of those leaning toward genocide.

Less obvious, however, is how the Marxists and the jihadists share a taste for controlling women, since feminism is so identified with the Left. In his chapter, “To Hate a Woman,” Glazov recounts the horrors suffered by women in

the Islamic world. Before 9/11, feminist groups had a nascent campaign building against the anti-woman policies of Muslim regimes, with a particular focus on the Taliban in Afghanistan and female genital mutilation.

Now that such regimes are openly at war with America, female genital mutilation is carried out in Britain without a peep from feminists (or arrests by police cowed by political correctness), while the burqa is trumpeted as a liberating protest against Western imperialism by campus feminists.

Similarly, dictatorial control of women’s sexual choices in communist regimes from Vietnam to Romania was never a subject of feminist protest, while China’s forced abortion policy was lauded in chillingly Orwellian fashion by feminist groups devoted to “choice.”

Over the years, conservatives have thought we could change these fanatics by exposing the atrocities committed by the objects of their veneration. But, as Glazov documents time after time after time, it is after the mass murder of a Mao, a Castro or a Saddam is exposed that the Left cranks up the celebrity support machine.

United in Hate is a revolutionary book,

in the best sense of the word. It gives a coherent explanation for a much-remarked-about phenomenon that most commentators have merely used to score irony points.

Verse 12 has truly been the case for his descendants as well as the descendents of the six sons born to Abraham after Sarah’s death. To believe that diplomatic dialog (by Obama’s thrilling speaking ability and the chatter of his talking heads in the Middle East) will produce a LASTING Two-State Solution (TSS) is sheer madness.

The introduction of the Islamic religion into the ancient world by Muhammad was responsible for inflaming the Middle East, which has led to the formation of a fanatical assembly of Islamic Jihad WILD MEN, the descendants of Ishmael and Keturah, who are possessed by the spirit of Antichrist, professing that Jesus was a great prophet, but NOT the son of God. It is the strong religious delusion predicted by Paul in II Thessalonians 2:10-12.

A week ago – when AIPAC supporters were shocked to report that they were told by Rahm Emanuel that “the efforts to stop Iran hinged on peace talks with the Palestinians” – Emanuel denied, sort of. Using the good services of his Atlantic friend, Jeffrey Goldberg, Emanuel (or someone wanting to help him) could make sure that the record straightened out:

Rahm apparently did no such thing. I have it on good authority that Rahm told the audience that Obama believes that it will be easier to enlist Arab allies in the confrontation with Iran if visible progress is made on the Palestinian front. This is inescapably true. But he did not suggest a quid pro quo. That would be blackmail.

The case of James Jones will be harder to deal with:

“We understand Israel’s preoccupation with Iran as an existential threat. We agree with that,” the senior official was quoted as saying by AFP. However, Jones went on to stress that the Iranian threat only reinforces

the need for peace in the region. “By the same token, there are a lot of things that you can do to diminish that existential threat by working hard towards achieving a two-state solution,” he reportedly said.

This is troubling for three reasons:

1. It’s rubbish. A TSS isn’t going to “diminish that existential threat”.

2. It makes Israel a hostage: get a TSS or face existential threat.

The problem is that for a TSS to m ateri

alize a Palestinian partner is also needed – a party that doesn’t exist.

3. Even more troubling: Israel faces the “threat” – Palestinians don’t (the Iranians do not threaten them). This presumabely means that Israel is the one who should worry about the TSS more than the Palestinian leadership. This also means that Palestinians might not feel as pressured to compromize, and might think that they are in a position to demand more concessions from Israel.

4. And what if a TSS isn’t within reach

? (as most experts believe is the case) Would Jones still work to “diminish” the threat?

US President Barack Obama’s National Security Adviser, retired general James Jones, on Sunday reiterated remarks recently made by other senior US officials linking the resolution of the Iranian nuclear standoff to progress in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

In an interview with ABC television, Jones said that the US government agrees with Jerusalem that Teheran’s nuclear ambitions pose an “existential threat” to Israel.

“We understand Israel’s preoccupation with Iran as an existential threat. We agree with that,” the senior official said.

However, Jones went on to stress that the Iranian threat only reinforces the need for peace in the region.

“By the same token, there are a lot of things that you can do to diminish that existential threat by working hard towards achieving a two-state solution,” he said.

“This is a very strategic issue. It’s extremely important. And we’re looking forward to having a good, constructive dialogue with our Israeli friends when they visit Washington in the next seven or eight days,” Jones said in response to a question about Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to Washington on May 18.

In a closed meeting with AIPAC’s major donors last week, Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emmanuel, reportedly said that America’s ability to face Iran depended on Israel’s ability to make progress with the Palestinians.

He told them that solving the conflict would enable progress in dealing with the main threat of Iran.

However, senior Israeli officials have rejected linking the Iranian nuclear issue with the Middle East peace process.

“We have to stop the Iranian threat as if there were no conflict with the Palestinians and we have to progress with the Palestinians as if there were no [nuclear] threat from Iran,” Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said on Thursday.

“The Iranian threat is a threat to everyone. The issue has nothing to do with the Palestinians,” he explained.

In a press conference in Washington on Tuesday, President Shimon Peres also rejected the idea of “linkage” between the Palestinian and Iranian issues.

However, Peres emphasized that Israel accepted the road map peace plan, which calls for the eventual formation of a Palestinian state, and that the new government intended to adhere to previous governments’ decisions.

Netanyahu has so far refused to publicly endorse the two-state solution and has focused on the importance of strengthening the West Bank economy.

But the prime minister noted on Sunday that economic growth and the improved welfare of the West Bank population were not a substitute for peace talks.

Revelation 17:3 – So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

The “woman” is the Catholic Church whose destruction is reported by John in Revelation 17:15-18.

Revelation 17:15-18 – And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. [16] And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. [17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree,

and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. [18] And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

The ten horns are ten Arab kings who will soon come against Israel led by the Antichrist, who is the eleventh horn on Daniel’s fourth beast.

Daniel 7:24-28 – And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. [25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

The ten Arab kings will accept the Antichrist as their leader “for God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” The Prophet Mohammad loudly proclaimed he was God’s prophet, and he was supposedly called by the angel Gabriel. Today some 400 million followers of Allah are scattered across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and southeastern Europe, and they believe that Allah is God.

Allah is a word compounded of the article “al” and the word “ilah,” which means “the God.” I believe the Catholic faith will accept the Antichrist as the “O Theos” (the God), and the Islamic faith will accept him as Allah (the God). Most of the many faiths would love to have a flesh and blood man to lead them, one who had returned from the dead. Many different faiths across the earth have multiple gods – some sects in India have hundreds of gods – but each sect always has one god who is more powerful than all the others.

All the religions, both small and great, will believe that the beast is that one most powerful god in their worship system.

Unfortunately for the “woman,” the Arabs have always hated religious Christianity, and near the end of the tribulation period they will vent their full religious zeal on the religious woman of Rome. John attests to the woman’s final destruction by the sons of Allah in verse sixteen – “And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.”

THE FALSE PROPHET WE KNOW AS JESUS!

Revelation 13:11 – And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

I have taught for many years that this second beast was the false prophet who would be the Pope of Rome, but

I believe I was wrong. I have always taught the Antichrist would be a Muslim coming out of Syria or Lebanon, but one of the problems I had was linking the Pope up to a religion that did not believe Jesus was the Son of God.

I have been very comfortable with the woman on the beast in Revelation being the Catholic Church, but I was never really comfortable with the Pope

being the false prophet. It was my time among the Muslims and what I learned about the Islamic faith that caused me to believe the beast in Revelation was an Islamic beast, and the ten horns were Islamic kings of the Middle East. I knew that as early as 1967.

But after I continued to study the beliefs of Islam, I came to change my mind about the beast of Revelation 13:11. He fits the description of one of the ma in figures

in Islamic belief.

Revelation 13:11 – And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

He is a lamb that has a dragon speaking out of his physical body, he is the Islamic version of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Virgin Mary, a counterfeit Jesus who 1.4 billion Muslims will accept in the wink of an eye, and many Catholics will not be too far behind them.

Jesus in Islam (Īsā) is a messenger of God who had been sent to guide the Children of Israel (banī isrā’īl) with a new scripture, the Injīl (gospel). The Qur’an, believed by Muslims to be God’s final revelation, states that Jesus was born to Mary (Maryam) as the result of virginal conception, a miraculous event which occurred by the decree of God (Allah). To aid him in his quest, Jesus was given the ability to perform miracles, all by the permission of God. According to Islamic texts, Jesus was neither killed nor crucified, but rather he was raised alive up to heaven.

Islamic traditions narrate that he will return to earth near the day of judgment to restore justice and defeat al-Masih ad-Dajjāl (lit. “the false messiah”, also known as the Antichrist). Like all prophets in Islam, Jesus is considered to have been a Muslim, as he preached for people to adopt the straight path in submission to God’s will. Islam rejects that Jesus was God incarnate or the son of God, stating that he was an ordinary man who, like other prophets, had been divinely chosen to spread God’s message. Islamic texts forbid the association of partners with God (shirk), emphasizing the notion of God’s divine oneness (tawhīd). Numerous titles are given to Jesus in the Qur’an, such as al-Masih (“the messiah; the anointed one” i.e. by means of blessings), although it does not correspond with the meaning accrued in Christian belief. Jesus is seen in Islam as a precursor to Muhammad, and is believed by Muslims to have foretold the latter’s coming.

Muslims believe that Jesus will return at a time close to the end of the world.

According to Islamic tradition, Jesus’ descent will be in the midst of wars fought by the Mahdi (lit. “the rightly guided one”), known in Islamic eschatology as the redeemer of Islam, against the Antichrist (al-Masīh ad-Dajjāl, “false messiah”) and his followers. Jesus will descend at the point of a white arcade in Damascus, dressed in yellow robes – his head anointed. He will then join the Mahdi in his war against the Dajjal. Jesus, considered in Islam as a Muslim, will abide by the Islamic teachings. Eventually, Jesus will slay the Dajjal, and then everyone from the people of the book (ahl al-kitāb, referring to Jews and Christians) will believe in him. Thus, there will be one community, that of Islam.

After the death of the Mahdi, Jesus will assume leadership. This is a time associated in Islamic narrative with universal peace and justice.

Islamic texts also allude to the appearance of Ya’juj and Ma’juj (known also as Gog and Magog), ancient tribes which will disperse and cause destruction on earth. God, in response to Jesus’ prayers, will kill them by sending a type of worm in the napes of their necks. Jesus’ rule is said to be around forty years, after which he will die. Muslims will then perform the funeral prayer for him and then bury him in the city of Medina in a grave left vacant beside Muhammad, Abu Bakr, and Umar (companions of Muhammad and the first and second Muslim caliphs respectively).

Jesus is described by various means in the Qur’an. The most common reference to Jesus occurs in the form of “Ibn Maryam” (son of Mary), sometimes preceded with another title. Jesus is also recognised as a prophet (nabī) and messenger (rasūl) of God. The terms wadjih (“worthy of esteem in this world and the next”), mubārak (“blessed”, or “a source of benefit for others”), `abd-Allāh (servant of God) are all used in the Qur’an in reference to Jesus.

Another title frequently mentioned is al-Masih, which translates to “the Messiah.” This does not correspond to the Christian concept of Messiah, as Islam regards all prophets, including Jesus, to be mortal and without any share in divinity. Muslim exegetes explain the use of the word masīh in the Qur’an as referring to Jesus’ status as the one anointed by means of blessings and honors; or as the one who helped cure the sick, by anointing the eyes of the blind, for example. Qur’anic verses also employ the term “kalimatullah” (meaning the “word of God”) as a descriptor of Jesus, which is interpreted as a reference to the creating word of God, uttered at the moment of Jesus’ conception; or as recognition of Jesus’ status as a messenger of God, speaking on God’s behalf.

Islamic texts regard Jesus as a righteous messenger of God, and reject him as being God or the begotten Son of God. This belief, according to Islam, is tantamount to shirk, or the association of partners with God; and thereby a rejection of God’s divine oneness (tawhid). The Christian doctrine of the Trinity is similarly rejected in Islam. Such notions of the divinity of Jesus, Muslims state, resulted from human interpolations of God’s revelation. Islam views Jesus as an ordinary human being who preached that salvation came through submission to God’s will and worshiping God alone. Thus, Jesus is considered in Islam to have been a Muslim, as with all prophets in Islam.

Muslims believe that Jesus was a precursor to Muhammad, and that he announced the latter’s coming. They base this on a verse of the Qur’an wherein Jesus speaks of a messenger to appear after him named Ahmad. Islam associates Ahmad with Muhammad, both words deriving from a root which refers to praiseworthiness. Muslims also assert that evidence of Jesus’ pronouncement is present in the New Testament, citing the mention of the Paraclete whose coming is foretold in the Gospel of John. Muslim commentators claim that the original Greek word used was periklutos, meaning famed, illustrious, or praiseworthy – rendered in Arabic as Ahmad; and that this was substituted by Christians with parakletos.

Pope expresses ‘deep respect’ for Islam

Pope Benedict XVI expressed deep respect for Islam Friday and said he hopes the Catholic Church can play a role in Mideast peace as he began his first trip to the region, where he hopes to improve frayed ties with Muslims.

The pope was met at the airport by Jordan’s King Abdullah and praised the moderate Arab country as a leader in efforts to promote peace in the region and dialogue between Christians and Muslims.

The pope rankled many in the Muslim world with a 2006 speech in which he quoted a Medieval text that characterized some of the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings as “evil and inhuman,” particularly “his command to spread by the sword the faith.”

The pope has already said he was “deeply sorry” over the reaction to his speech and that the passage he quoted did not reflect his own opinion.

“My visit to Jordan gives me a welcome opportunity to speak of my deep respect for the Muslim community, and to pay tribute to the leadership shown by his majesty the king in promoting a better understanding of the virtues proclaimed by Islam,” Benedict said shortly after landing in Amman.

But his past comments continue to fuel criticism by some Muslims.

Jordan’s hard-line Muslim Brotherhood said Friday before the pope arrived that its members would boycott his visit because he did not issue a public apology ahead of time as they demanded.

Brotherhood spokesman Jamil Abu-Bakr said the absence of a public apology meant “obstacles and boundaries will remain and will overshadow any possible understanding between the pope and the Muslim world.”

The Brotherhood is Jordan’s largest opposition group. Although it commands a small bloc in parliament, it wields considerable sway, especially among poor Jordanians.

Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said the Vatican has made all possible clarifications, telling Associated Press Television News that “we cannot continue until the end of the world to repeat the same clarifications.”

Despite the controversy, Benedict expressed hope his visit and the power of the Catholic church could help further peace efforts between Israelis and Palestinians.

“We are not a political power but a spiritual power that can contribute,” Benedict told reporters on the plane before he landed in Amman.

The pope will also visit Israel and the Palestinian territories during his weeklong tour.

Jordan’s king praised the pope and said the world must reject “ambitious ideologies of division.”

“We welcome your commitment to dispel the misconceptions and divisions that have harmed relations between Christians and Muslims,” said Abdullah.

The pope was also met at the airport by diplomats and Muslim and Christian leaders. A Jordanian army band equipped with bagpipes and drums played the Vatican and Jordanian national anthems before the pope and the king inspected the honor guard.

Abdullah Abdul-Qader, a cleric at Amman’s oldest mosque, told worshippers during Friday prayers to welcome the pope’s visit.

“I urge you to show respect for your fellow Christians as they receive their church leader,” said Abdul-Qader at the Al-Husseini mosque.

Christians make up 3 percent of Jordan’s 5.8 million people.

Benedict’s three-day stay in Jordan is his first visit to an Arab country as pope. During his time in the country, Benedict is scheduled to meet with Muslim religious leaders at Amman’s largest mosque – his second visit to a Muslim place of worship since becoming pope in 2005. He prayed in Istanbul’s famed Blue Mosque, a gesture that helped calm the outcry over his remarks.

The pope is also expected to meet Iraqi Christians driven from their homeland by violence. About 40 young Iraqi refugees crowded into a tiny Catholic church in Amman on Friday, nervously practicing their last lesson before Benedict administers their first communion on Sunday.

“I really want to meet the pope,” said Cecile Adam, an 11-year-old whose family fled Baghdad.

“I think he can do something to help Iraq because Jesus gave him a good position and Jesus wants us to be happy.”

Arabs to Exploit Pope’s Visit in ‘Battle for Land’ in Jerusalem

Arabs in eastern Jerusalem told Reuters they intend to exploit next weeks’ papal visit to involve the Pope in a “war for each piece of land…every tile in the house” in the capital. The statements add evidence to charges that the Pope’s visit already is involved more with politics than religion.

Adnan Husseini, former director-general of the Muslim Waqf department in Jerusalem and now special advisor to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, told the news agency, “There is a battle on every piece of land in Jerusalem. In every room, every house in Jerusalem there is a battle.”

He said he will tell the German-born Pope about what he calls “harsh” Israel policies, which include demolitions of illegally-built Jewish and Arab homes alike. Husseini said he wants to get the Pope actively involved because he is sure the United States, which has criticized the demolitions, is not “capable of putting pressure on Israel.

Pro-Arab activists complain that existing legislation, which bars people from rights in the city if absent for more than seven years, is aimed at Arabs.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat recently announced a new building plan that provides new housing units for Arabs, but Husseini charged that if the municipality were serious, it would not demolish existing units.

The Vatican already has run into a political minefield with statements from its veteran diplomat, Cardinal Renato Martino, during the Operation Cast Lead counterterrorist campaign in Gaza, which he compared with a Nazi camp. Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor responded, “We are astounded to hear from a spiritual dignitary words that are so far removed from truth and dignity.”

A sharper reaction came from Rabbi Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, who stated that the clergyman’s comments are like others “used against Israel by terrorist organizations and Holocaust deniers.”

Intentions by Arabs to exploit the Pope’s visit were made clear last month, when Arab Catholics visited the Vatican and gave him a black and white checkered keffiyah, the Arab scarf that is associated with Yasser Arafat. The Pope obligingly wore the scarf while talking with the Arab delegation.

Other planned stop filled with political innuendo is a trip to the Arab city of Sakhnin in the Galilee, where the town mayor in January led inciting crowds against the Operation Cast Lead campaign.

Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov has unsuccessful tried to convince the Vatican to avoid meeting the mayor because of his “support for terror.”

Israel has succeeded in changing the itinerary so that the Pope will not be able be photographed at the separation barrier, one of the favorite targets for anti-Zionists who call it the Apartheid Wall. Palestinian Authority legislator Essa Qaraqie said Thursday that the papal entourage will pass near the barrier but that military officials prohibited Arabs from building a stage.

The last time a pope visited Israel was in 2000, several months before the outbreak of the Oslo War, also known as the Second Intifada. The visit by Pope John-Paul II, who was born Karol Józef Wojtyla, also was laced with politics.

Shortly before the pope arrived, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem told an Italian newspaper, “Too many lies about the Holocaust, Wojtyla free us from the Jews. Six million Jews dead? No way, they were much fewer.

Let’s stop with this fairytale exploited by Israel to capture international solidarity. It is not my fault if Hitler hated Jews; indeed they were hated a little everywhere. Instead, it is necessary to denounce the unjust occupation endured by my people. Tomorrow I will ask John Paul II… to support our cause.”

The Lord has long been Israel’s great eagle, flying high above the descendants of Jacob looking down on them as the apple of his eye. God will preserve a remnant of Jacob in the Negev through the Tribulation Period and they will enter into Christ’s Millennial Reign as the ruling physical nation on this earth.

Column One: Obama’ s green light to attack Iran

Arctic winds are blowing into Jerusalem from Washington these days. As Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s May 18 visit to Washington fast approaches, the Obama administration is ratcheting up its anti-Israel rhetoric and working feverishly to force Israel into a corner.

Using the annual AIPAC conference as a backdrop, this week the Obama administration launched its harshest onslaught against Israel to date.

It began with media reports that National Security Adviser James Jones told a European foreign minister that the US is planning to build an anti-Israel coalition with the Arabs and Europe to compel Israel to surrender Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem to the Palestinians.

According to Haaretz, Jones was quoted in a classified foreign ministry cable as having told his European interlocutor, “The new administration will convince Israel to compromise on the Palestinian question. We will not push Israel under the wheels of a bus, but we will be more forceful toward Israel than we have been under Bush.”

He then explained that the US, the EU and the moderate Arab states must determine together what “a satisfactory endgame solution,” will be.

As far as Jones is concerned, Israel should be left out of those discussions and simply presented with a fait accompli that it will be compelled to accept.

Events this week showed that Jones’s statement was an accurate depiction of the administration’s policy. First, quartet mediator Tony Blair announced that within six weeks the US, EU, UN and Russia will unveil a new framework for establishing a Palestinian state. Speaking with Palestinian reporters on Wednesday, Blair said that this new framework will be a serious initiative because it “is being worked on at the highest level in the American administration.”

Moreover, this week we learned that the administration is trying to get the Arabs themselves to write the Quartet’s new plan. The London-based Al-Quds al-Arabi pan-Arab newspaper reported Tuesday that acting on behalf of Obama, Jordanian King Abdullah urged the Arab League to update the so-called Arab peace plan from 2002.

That plan, which calls for Israel to withdraw from Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights and accept millions of foreign Arabs as citizens as part of the so-called “right of return” in exchange for “natural” relations with the Arab world, has been rejected by successive Israeli governments as a diplomatic subterfuge whose goal is Israel’s destruction.

By accepting millions of so-called “Palestinian refugees,” Israel would effectively cease to be a Jewish state. By shrinking into the 1949 armistice lines, Israel would be unable to defend itself against foreign invasion.

And since “natural relations” is a meaningless term both in international legal discourse and in diplomatic discourse, Israel would have committed national suicide for nothing.

To make the plan less objectionable to Israel, Abdullah reportedly called on his Arab brethren to strike references to the so-called “Arab refugees” from the plan and to agree to “normal” rather than “natural” relations with the Jewish state. According to the report, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was expected to present Obama with the changes to the plan during their meeting in Washington later this month. The revised plan was supposed to form the basis for the new Quartet plan that Blair referred to.

But the Arabs would have none of it. On Wednesday, both Arab League General Secretary Amr Moussa and Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas announced that they oppose the initiative.

On Thursday, Syria rejected making any changes in the document.

The administration couldn’t care less. The Palestinians and Arabs are no more than bit players in its Middle East policy. As far as the Obama administration is concerned, Israel is the only obstacle to peace.

To make certain that Israel understands this central point, Vice President Joseph Biden used his appearance at the AIPAC conference to drive it home. As Biden made clear, the US doesn’t respect or support Israel’s right as a sovereign state to determine its own policies for securing its national interests. In Biden’s words, “Israel has to work toward a two-state solution. You’re not going to like my saying this, but not build more settlements, dismantle existing outposts and allow the Palestinians freedom of movement.”

FOR ISRAEL, the main event of the week was supposed to be President Shimon Peres’s meeting with Obama on Tuesday. Peres was tasked with calming the waters ahead of Netanyahu’s visit. It was hoped that he could introduce a more collegial tone to US-Israel relations.

What Israel didn’t count on was the humiliating reception Peres received from Obama.

By barring all media from covering the event, Obama transformed what was supposed to be a friendly visit with a respected and friendly head of state into a back-door encounter with an unwanted guest, who was shooed in and shooed out of the White House without a sound.

The Obama White House’s bald attempt to force Israel to take full blame for the Arab world’s hostility toward it is not the only way that it is casting Israel as the scapegoat for the region’s ills. In their bid to open direct diplomatic ties with Iran, Obama and his advisers are also blaming Israel for Iran’s nuclear program.

They are doing this both indirectly and directly.

As Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel made clear in his closed-door briefing to senior AIPAC officials this week, the administration is holding Israel indirectly responsible for Iran’s nuclear program. It does this by claiming that Israel’s refusal to cede its land to the Palestinians is making it impossible for the Arab world to support preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Somewhat inconveniently for the administration, the Arabs themselves are rejecting this premise. This week US Defense Secretary Robert Gates visited the Persian Gulf and Egypt to soothe Arab fears that the administration’s desperate attempts to appease the mullahs will harm their security interests. He also sought to gain their support for the administration’s plan to unveil a new peace plan aimed at isolating and pressuring Israel.

After meeting with Gates, Amr Moussa – who has distinguished himself as one of Israel’s most trenchant critics – said categorically, “The question of Iran should be separate from the Arab-Israel conflict.”

Just as the administration is unmoved by objective facts that expose as folly its single-minded devotion to the notion that Israel is responsible for the absence of peace in the Middle East, so the Arab rejection of its view that Israel is to blame for Iran’s nuclear program has simply driven it to escalate its attacks on Israel.

This week it opened a new campaign of blaming Israel directly – through its purported nuclear arsenal – for Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Speaking at a UN forum, US Assistant Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller said, “Universal adherence to the [Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty] NPT itself, including by India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea… remains a fundamental objective of the United States.”

As Eli Lake from The Washington Times demonstrated convincingly, by speaking as she did, Gottemoeller effectively abrogated a 40-year-old US-Israeli understanding that the US would remain silent about Israel’s nuclear program because it understood that it was defensive, not offensive in nature.

In so doing, Gottemoeller legitimized Iran’s claim that it cannot be expected to suspend its quest to acquire nuclear weapons as long as Israel possesses them. She also erased any distinction between nuclear weapons in the hands of US allies and democratic states and nuclear weapons in the hands of US enemies and terror states.

The Israeli media are largely framing the story of the US’s growing and already unprecedented antagonism toward Israel as a diplomatic challenge for Netanyahu. To meet this challenge, it is argued that Netanyahu must come to Washington in 10 days’ time with an attractive peace plan that will win over the White House. But this is a false interpretation of what is happening.

Even Ethan Bronner of the The New York Times pointed out this week that Obama’s Middle East policy is not based on facts. If it were, the so-called “two state solution,” which has failed repeatedly since 1993, would not be its centerpiece. Obama’s Middle East policy is based on ideology, not reality. Consequently, it is immune to rational argument.

The fact that if Iran acquires nuclear weapons, all chance of peace between Israel and the Palestinians and Israel and the Arab world will disappear, is of no interest to Obama and his advisers. They do not care that the day after Hamas terror-master Khaled Mashaal told The New York Times that Hamas was suspending its attacks against Israel from Gaza, the Iranian-controlled terror regime took credit for several volleys of rockets shot against Israeli civilian targets from Gaza. The administration stills intends to give Gaza $900 million in US taxpayer funds, and it still demands that Israel give its land to a joint Fatah-Hamas government.

REGARDLESS OF the weight of Netanyahu’s arguments, and irrespective of the reasonableness of whatever diplomatic initiative he presents to Obama, he can expect no sympathy or support from the White House.

As a consequence, the operational significance of the administration’s anti-Israel positions is that Israel will not be well served by adopting a more accommodating posture toward the Palestinians and Iran. Indeed, perversely, what the Obama administration’s treatment of Israel should be making clear to the Netanyahu government is that Israel should no longer take Washington’s views into account as it makes its decisions about how to advance Israel’s national security interests. This is particularly true with regard to Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Rationally speaking, the only way the Obama administration could reasonably expect to deter Israel from attacking Iran’s nuclear installations would be if it could make the cost for Israel of attacking higher than the cost for Israel of not attacking. But what the behavior of the Obama administration is demonstrating is that there is no significant difference in the costs of the two options.

By blaming Israel for the absence of peace in the Middle East while ignoring the Palestinians’ refusal to accept Israel’s right to exist; by seeking to build an international coalition with Europe and the Arabs against Israel while glossing over the fact that at least the Arabs share Israel’s concerns about Iran; by exposing Israel’s nuclear arsenal and pressuring Israel to disarm while in the meantime courting the ayatollahs like an overeager bridegroom, the Obama administration is telling Israel that regardless of what it does, and what objective reality is, as far as the White House is concerned, Israel is to blame.

This, of course, doesn’t mean that Netanyahu shouldn’t make his case to Obama when they meet and to the American people during his US visit. What it does mean is that Netanyahu should have no expectation that Israeli goodwill can divert Obama from the course he has chosen.

And again, this tells us two things: Israel’s relations with the US during Obama’s tenure in office will be unpleasant and difficult, and the damage that Israel will cause to that relationship by preventing Iran from acquiring the means to destroy it will be negligible.
