10 Jihad Kings among the Kings of Revelation 19:19!

Part 1 – The 10 Jihad Toes of Daniel 2

At the battle of Armageddon most of the kings of the earth will come to join the antichrist in a final attempt to eradicate the nation of Israel.

Among them will be 10 nations representing the 10 Jihad toes of Daniel 2 that drove Israel into the Negev three and one-half years earlier.

Revelation 19:19 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

Some three and one-half years before the final battle of Armageddon, which closes the tribulation period, ten kings of nations out of the territory once occupied by the ancient Roman Empire (followed by the vast Islamic Caliphate of Muhammad) will attack Israel from the north.

Daniel 2:42 – And as the toes of

The last evil kingdom of antichrist on this earth was to initially be comprised of 10 nations with 10 kings led by the man of sin himself.

It was to arise out of the ashes of

the old Roman Empire. I have always believed it would rise out of the southern half of the Empire and be made up of 10 Arab nations. I believe the elements for its formation are in place today, and I suspect that the most likely Arab nations of which it will be comprised are Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. Some of these nations are strong like iron, and some are as soft and pliable as clay.

I do not question that in the final battle of Armageddon the descendants of Ham, Shem, and Japheth will be combatants against the nation of Israel. But I have always contended, along with the Bible expositors of the 18th and 19th centuries, that the antichrist’s initial attack would be led by Arab descendants of Abraham. They are the mingled seed of his oldest son Ishmael with the seed of the six sons he sired by Keturah, as well as some of the other offspring of his own father Terah. The empire of the antichrist will be an Islamic empire that eventually takes into it other old world nations. And, in the final great battle of Armageddon, all those nations that made up the world as it was known in A.D. 95 will come against Israel, such that Japheth, Ham, and Shem’s descendants will also be involved.

Daniel 2:41-43 – And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. [42] And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

The 10 toes will consist primarily of Terah’s descendants. Abraham came out of Terah. Out of Abraham came the leaders of the three great monotheistic faiths associated with Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad. And they have always been in conflict.

The inspired word in Daniel 2:43, from which the word “mingled” comes, is ARAB, which means “to interlace or mix.” The “seed of men” refers to non-descendants of the man Abraham, from which both Jews and Arabs descended.

“They” refers to the 10 toes of Daniel’s statue in Daniel 2:42, which have 10 kings over them. Isaac, the father of Israel, had seven half brothers – Ishmael from Hagar and the six sons of Keturah. It was from these seven half brothers that the Arab world has been primarily created. The descendants of Israel have been more likely to marry within the blood line of the man Israel than have the Arabs to marry within their separate bloodlines of Hagar and Keturah, and the Arabs have also intermingled with non-descendants of Abraham more than have the Jews.

Daniel 2:43 – And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

Just as iron and clay do not hold together very long, the 10 Arab nations will only hold together long enough to fulfill God’s end time tribulation period prophecies. The saved will be caught up on the sounding of the seventh trump to be judged in heaven, and the kingdom of God will all be united in heaven, waiting to return to earth with Christ at his Second Advent.

Revelation 11:15 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Daniel 2:44 – And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The God of heaven will call all the saved of all the ages together in heaven during the “days of these kings,” and will initially “set up” his kingdom, from whence he will return to earth with it as its head, after the saved have been judged in heaven. Christ’s coming kingdom will “break in pieces and consume all the kingdoms” of the present world, and his kingdom alone will rule.

Revelation 11:15-18 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [16] And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, [17] Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. [18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Christ, the stone, came from the mountain representing God, without any human instrumentation, but by God’s Spirit forming his body in a virgin’s womb. Christ will return to destroy those morally destroying the earth. All of the evil that came out of the Babylonian, Medo- Persian, Macedonian, and Roman Empires will be laid waste by his Second Advent.

Daniel 2:45 – Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

The Scriptures which follow describe the coming of the great Stone, the great Rock, coming with his kingdom.

Revelation 19:11-18 – And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

[12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. [13] And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. [14] And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. [15] And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. [16] And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Report: Dozens more held in Turkish coup plot

Police detained dozens of people Thursday in a new wave of arrests connected with an alleged secularist plot to bring down the Islamic-rooted government, the state-run Anatolia news agency said.

The detentions followed police raids on the headquarters of a secularist metal workers’ trade union and an opposition television station, among other places, Anatolia said.

Police would not immediately confirm the detentions, which threaten to aggravate tensions between secularists and Islamists.

Many see the investigation into the alleged plot at the latest battle between the government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and secularists who are backed by the military and the judiciary and who consider themselves the protectors of Turkey’s secular system.

The conflict between the government and its secular opponents reached a climax in July when the Constitutional Court ruled against disbanding Erdogan’s party, which had been accused of steering the country toward Islamic rule.

The court did impose a fine, as a warning.
Secularists believe the series of detentions is designed to silence government opponents, but the government insists the investigation of the alleged coup plot is purging Turkey of a network of renegade agents intent on destabilizing the country.

Anatolia said at least six people were detained for questioning in the capital, Ankara, including the head of a metal workers’ union, the owner of political polling company and a journalist.

The news agency said more than 26 people were detained in 13 provinces and included several active military and police officers.

The private Dogan news agency said eight active military officers and nine police officers were among those detained in the latest wave of arrests.

Eighty-six suspects, most of them outspoken critics of the government, are already on trial for alleged membership in an organization called Ergenekon, which prosecutors say was planning to topple the government.

The defendants are accused of seeking to destabilize Turkey through a string of attacks before a coup planned for 2009.

Last week, an Istanbul anti-terror court formally arrested and jailed 18 other suspects, including a former police chief and four military officers, bringing the total of people allegedly involved in the case to more than 100.

Police also discovered large amounts of explosives, weapons and ammunition buried underground.

The opposition accuses the government of a witch hunt against secularists who opposed the government’s efforts to raise the profile of Islam.

“The trade unions are being silenced, media organizations are being scared off,” opposition lawmaker Mustafa Ozyurek told reporters outside the union’s headquarters. “Turkey is fast becoming an empire of fear.”

As I indicated in our BLOG of January 10, 2009, concerning the new Axis of Evil, which I have been watching form over the last few years – The process of formation is continuing and it will not be reversed. A couple of BLOGS we issued in October of 2007 immediately follow the series of Scriptures in our heading which, when read with our more recent January 10, 2009 BLOG, make the Jerusalem Post Excerpts 1 and 2 of January 16, 2009, appearing at the end of this BLOG, join together in a pattern that reveals the growing conspiracy.

A conspiracy of nations is now forming to the north, northeast, and east of Israel, whose union will play a major role in the last three and one-half years of the Age of the Gentiles, which terminates at the final battle of Armageddon. Turkey, Syria, and Iran are now coming together, and as soon as American troops leave Iraq, she will be joining them. These four, and Lebanon, will bear the brunt of an initial attack on Israel which starts the war marking the last three and one-half years of the Gentile Age. Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Sudan will join them during the conflict, and the Israelis will be driven into the Negev. Near the end of Israel’s entrapment in the vast Negev, the Antichrist will invite all the nations of the “Old World,” including Russia and China, to come down to assist him in wiping out Israel forever. All those participating will be destroyed at the Second Advent of Christ by Tectonic Chaos such as not occurred on this earth in the Middle East since God made Adam.

When I published my first book, Tectonic Chaos, more than 30 years ago, I remember one preacher who sent it back to me when the U.S. invaded Iraq, because it made everything void I had taught about the 10 toes and 10 horns of Daniel’s statue and fourth beast being composed of Arab nations. He believed because I had said Turkey, a member of the NATO alliance, and Iraq, which we had conquered, would be two of the “10,” that I had been proven wrong. Just as soon as we pull out of Iraq, they will hate us more than they did under Saddam, and Turkey is now sliding down a slippery slope into the waiting arms of Islamic rule.

Turkey Forms Alliance with Iran against Kurds

U.S. ally Turkey and U.S. arch-enemy Iran have formed a military alliance to drive opposition Kurds from bases in northern Iraq they have used since 2004 to launch guerrilla operations inside Iran, rebel leaders told Newsmax at a secret base in the Qandil mountains.

Both Iran and Turkey have vowed to send troops into northern Iraq, but until now evidence of active military cooperation between them has remained a closely-held secret.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stepped up political and diplomatic threats in recent days, telling the United States he would cut off U.S. access to the strategic Incirlik airbase in eastern Turkey if the U.S. tried to prevent Turkey from sending troops against the Kurdish bases in northern Iraq.

Leaders of the Party

of Free Life of Iranian Kurdestan, known as PJAK, provided Newsmax with extensive evidence of the Iran-Turkey alliance in two days of exclusive interviews at a secret guerilla base deep in the Qandil mountains. An Iranian Revolutionary Guards outpost was visible on a nearby mountain peak.

“Iran and Turkey attacked jointly on August 16 against our forces inside Iran and against Turkish self-defense forces in northern Iraq,” a PJAK commander using the nom de guerre Xerat told Newsmax at the Iranian rebel base.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards “attacked us across a broad front in the areas of Sardasht, Piranshahr, Shaho, Urmieh, and along the border line,” Xerat said, citing the names of major cities in Iranian Kurdestan where PJAK rebels have been operating.

While those ground operations were underway, Iranian and Turkish artillery simultaneously began shelling civilian villages inside Iraqi Kurdistan from Metina, Zaab, Haftani, and Hakurke in the north, to Haji Oumran, Qalatdizza, Zeh, Marado, and Xinera in the south, he added.

Turkish artillery hit the northern villages, while Iranian gunners hit the southern ones.

Iranian troops attempted to cross into Iraq through the mountain passes, but PJAK fighters held the line.

“The goal of the Iranians is to drive us from the border area,” rebel leader Biryar Gabar told Newsmax. “They want to turn this area into a no-man’s land, so they can use it to smuggle weapons and Islamist guerillas into Iraq to fight the Americans.”

He called the Iran-Turkey entente “an anti-American alliance,” not just an anti-Kurdish agreement, and said that it resulted from deliberate decisions from the ruling Islamist AKP party of Prime Minister Erdogan to transform Turkey into an increasingly Islamist state.

A senior European official, who was involved in talks to bring Turkey into the European Union, told Newsmax recently he had been “stunned” by the hard-line toward the Kurds taken by AKP party leader Abdullah Gul, now Turkey’s president.

“He was totally uncompromising,” the official said. “He took a harder line than the Turkish military.”

Iran has been offering Turkey an economic agreement with Iran in July to build a strategic pipeline that will bring Iranian natural gas to Europe, in defiance of a U.S. led effort to increase the economic squeeze on Iran.

During a press conference in August while he was still foreign minister, Gul defended Turkey and Iran’s joint action against Kurdish guerillas in Iraq.

Recent developments, particularly in the last six months, show a very definite trend of Russia and China drawing closer together against the U.S. and Israel as demonstrated by massive military exercises practiced along their borders, secular Turkey returning to its Islamic roots amid contacts with Iran and Syria, and the former Soviet Union countries around the Caspian Sea showing how their majority Islamic occupants are linking with Islam rather then the West. The final act on the world stage is preparing itself for an eventual war in which Israel will find herself driven into the Negev, where she will remain for some three and one half years prior to Armageddon and the Second Advent of Messiah.

Assad visits Turkey, may push for help reviving talks with Israel

Syrian President Bashar Assad arrived in Turkey Tuesday for a four-day visit to discuss regional issues and bilateral ties, Anatolia news agency reported. Assad was to dine with Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul on Tuesday evening ahead of formal talks on Wednesday that will include meetings with Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ali Babacan.

He will also travel to Istanbul before wrapping up his visit on Friday.

Last week, Assad said in interviews with two Tunisian newspapers that Turkey was trying to mediate between Syria and Israel. Turkey has close ties to Israel.

The visit comes weeks after Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike in northeastern Syria near the border with Turkey against a target that remains unknown, though widespread reports say it may have been a nascent nuclear facility, a claim Syria has denied.

Turkey complained to Israel about the September 6 strike because the aircraft dropped fuel tanks on its territory during the incursion. Assad has said the planes struck an empty warehouse, but both Syria and Israel have been unusually silent over the incident.

Turkish-Syrian relations have improved in recent years since a long period of animosity ended in 1998 when Damascus forced Turkish Kurd rebel Abdullah Ocalan to leave his long-time safe haven in Syria. Ocalan was subsequently captured in Kenya in 1999 and jailed for life.

Ankara believes it can use the thaw as leverage to help e

Turkey’s foreign minister visited both Israel and Syria earlier in October.

“We have told them [the Turks] that our stance toward peace does not change. All we want is a clear declaration by Israeli officials of their desire for peace and the return of [occupied] land to Syria,” the Syrian president said.

Erdogan: Bar Israel from the UN

Turkey’s prime minister on Friday said Israel should be barred from the United Nations while it ignores the body’s calls to stop fighting in Gaza.

“How is such a country, which does not implement resolutions of the UN Security Council, allowed to enter through the gates of the UN (headquarters)?” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Erdogan spoke before UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was set to arrive in Ankara to discuss the conflict.

Erdogan accused Israel of attacking civilians under the pretext of targeting Hamas.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Friday renewed calls for an immediate cease-fire and also urged US President-elect Barack Obama to focus on a comprehensive, long-lasting and fair solution once in office.

Meanwhile, Ban urged Israel to immediately stop the Gaza operation.

“I strongly urge Israeli leadership and government to declare a ceasefire unilaterally,” Ban said in Ramallah. “It’s time to think about a unilateral cease-fire from the Israeli government.”

Government spokesman Mark Regev dismissed the notion.

“I don’t believe that there’s a logical expectation in the international community that Israel unilaterally cease fire while Hamas would continue to target cities, trying to kill our people,” Regev said.

Turkey’s drift away from the West

A decade ago, Western and Israeli leaders could count on Turkey as an ally. A solid NATO member, Ankara took decisions based on pragmatic calculations of interest – and erred on the side of caution if at all. But under the rule of the Islamic conservative AKP, this has changed.

In the face of Hamas rockets, Israel could have expected more understanding from a country long suffering from aggressive PKK terrorism. The vehemence with which Turkish leaders attacked Israel, and their apparent willingness to convey Hamas’ position to the United Nations, came as a surprise to many.

Some of this may be explained by pandering to the Islamic conservative AKP’s hard-core base. But Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s words – that Israel’s actions will be punished by God and help lead it to self-destruction – are too significant to be taken lightly. Indeed, they are part of the trend of a Turkish government guided more by Islamic solidarity and anti-Western sentiment than by pragmatic calculations of interest. Indeed, Turkey’s international behavior suggests that its attachment to the West is tenuous at best – and eroding.

SINCE COLD WAR times, Turkey played a solid role as the southeastern anchor of NATO. When president Turgut Özal decided to participate in Operation Desert Storm in 1990, he made Turkey a regional power in its own right, putting an end to talk of the country’s reduced strategic value in the aftermath of the Cold War.

Under successive governments in the 1990s, Turkey built strong relations with Israel, which branched out from the defense sector to culture, trade and tourism. This served both countries well. In the new states of the Caucasus and Central Asia, Ankara was alongside Washington one of the most powerful Western forces, coordinating policies with the US to mutual benefit.

Of course, the policy had its detractors. Turkey’s Islamists strongly disapproved not only of ties to Israel, but also of the attention given to former Soviet nations, which they considered inferior Muslims compared to their own role models in the Middle East. When briefly in government in 1996, the Islamists tried in vain to reorient the country’s foreign policy.

When Erdogan’s AKP came to power in 2002, it portrayed itself as a very different brand of Islamists – as post-Islamists, in fact. Where his predecessors had shunned the EU, Erdogan embraced it; his rhetoric was free of the anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism of his forebears. Yet after half a decade in power, Erdogan’s policies and rhetoric have slipped dangerously.

Ankara’s differences with Washington over Iraq in 2002-03 are widely known, but differed little from stances adopted by Germany or other European allies. Nevertheless, Turkish policies on a whole range of issues since then illustrate how dramatically the country has changed.

His initiative of a “Caucasus stability platform” was met with disbelief in both Georgia and Azerbaijan, since it effectively promised to freeze all territorial disputes in the region, including legitimizing Russia’s recent territorial grab in Georgia. More worrying was the composition of Erdogan’s intended platform: the three Caucasian states, Turkey – and Russia. The US and EU had not been consulted, neither did they apparently figure in Erdogan’s calculations for this region, effectively amounting to a recognition of Moscow’ s imperial ambition

s. This, in turn, came following Turkey’s alignment with Russia on the issue of NATO’s presence in the Black Sea.

Ankara’s position on Iran has been similarly equivocal. When in Washington recently, Erdogan observed that “those who ask Iran not to produce nuclear weapons should give up their own nuclear weapons first” – a position that fits neither with Turkey’s membership in the Non-Proliferation Treaty or NATO.

More broadly, Erdogan has in recent years shown a remarkable willingness to meet with rogue regimes. Ankara’s improving relationships with Syria and Iran are understandable, given that they are neighbors with which Turkey needs to work. But its decision to welcome Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir with full honors in January 2008, or to invite Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal to the AKP party headquarters in 2006, cannot be explained away simply by pragmatic decisions born out of necessity. Indeed, these decisions need to be seen in the context of the AKP’s gradual change, with Islamic self-identification gaining ground in both domestic and foreign policy. Since reelection in 2007, the AKP has focused more on the advancement of Islamic values in Turkey’s society and state than on democratic reform. In foreign policy, Islamic solidarity and anti-Western sentiment have gained ground – which in turn influence the views of society at large, making Turkey as a nation less Western.

This is the broader context in which Turkey’s reaction to the Gaza crisis should be seen.

It does not signify that Turkey will become an enemy either of Israel or of the West – Ankara’s deep links to the US and Europe are too strong to be reversed anytime soon. But as long as the AKP remains in power, these ties are likely to gradually erode even further. Rather than a part of the West, Turkey could rather become equidistant between the West and powers like Russia or Iran. Were that to happen, it would require strategic thinkers in Washington, Brussels and Tel Aviv to reconsider some of their earlier assumptions.

The initial attack into the glorious land of Israel will be from the north, from Syria and Lebanon, and the first of many countries that will fall before the antichrist will be Israel. There will be a lightning surprise Jihad blitzkrieg launched by Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Iraq, with logistical support from Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Turkey, and Sudan, as well as a direct internal attack by the Palestinians inside Israel.

These are the ten toes of a Daniel 2 great statue, the ten horns of his fourth beast, and the ten horns on both of John’s beasts.

Daniel 2:42 – And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

Revelation 17:3 – So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Many of the countries of Daniel’s day were named for their first descendants as they related to Abraham. Edom was associated with the descendants of his grandson Esau, with Ammon and Moab being associated with the two sons of his nephew Lot. In Daniel’s day these three countries were to the immediate east, northeast, and southeast of Israel. If you will check all maps from B.C. 500 to 700, you will discover that all three of these countries would be entirely engulfed by modern day Jordan. So why would Jordan escape Antichrist’s wrath?

First of all, its geographical position would have no military, political, or financial value to him, and the occupants of Jordan will certainly not attack him, so he will bypass Jordan on his way to conquer the Suez Canal, which will have all three of these values abundantly. Jordan will not be a part of the initial Jihad, but after Israel is driven into the Negev it will be 100% in the antichrist’s camp. Because Egypt and Jordan made peace with Israel they are out of favor with Syria, Iran, and the radical Islamic Jihad proponents across the Middle East.

Secondly, it is well known that a huge bulk of the Palestinians fled into Jordan in the 1967 War, and they hate Israel with a passion. A growing shift in public sentiment in Jordan is causing the terrorist factions to gain the upper hand. So when Israel is attacked, the Jordanians themselves will not attack Israel, but the terrorist groups in Jordan will, such that the Antichrist will by-pass Jordan.

Quite frankly, the idea that Israel will flee to Petra in Jordan for 1260 days of safety has always been in the category of ridiculous. But like all prophetic interpretations, time will tell!

Another reason Israel would not flee to Petra is brought to light by Zechariah 13:8.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

In the first century the Petra area only received about six inches of rain per year. And this, along with springs in the area, could not support a population of 20,000 in and around the city.

But the Nabataeans developed a sophisticated system of public waterworks fed by three large springs several miles from Petra. Petra’s aqueduct system carried about 12 million gallons of fresh spring water per day, which would be enough to sustain a modern day American population of more than 100,000. The system was destroyed by a major earthquake in the Jordan Valley Rift, but even if it existed today, there is no way it could meet the needs of two million Israelis, which would require 240 million gallons of fresh spring water per day.

Because Saudi Arabia plays footsies with the United States, it also falls into the non-favored category. The Arab world simply doesn’t trust Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia enough to include them in the secret planning that will go into the Jihad, and they will be as surprised as Israel when it is launched. Jordan and Saudi Arabia will support the antichrist after he conquers Egypt, and will to do so for the remainder of the tribulation period

Once the Antichrist begins his attack against Israel, the rulers of Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia will be toast if they can’t flee their countries in time.

“I swear in the name of Allah that I will not use that American merchandise, I will not bring it into the house and I will not permit the members of my family to use it.”

That was the vow made in recent weeks by members of Jordan’s committee against normalization with Israel. The burning of U.S.-made goods, a call for a boycott on companies that cooperate with Israel, and even a demand to sever Jordan’s diplomatic relations with Israel are nothing new, but the burning of the Israeli flag by Jordanian MPs inside the parliament building – that has never happened before.

Even the demonstrations that flooded the streets of the capital Amman, and particularly the confrontation between thousands of demonstrators and the security forces in the Al-Rabia neighborhood are things Jordan has not seen for many years.

If we add to that the fact that Jordan has not yet allowed its ambassador to return to Tel Aviv and remember that the relationship between the Israeli embassy and Jordanian government institutions has been unofficially frozen, can we conclude that Jordan has changed direction

In the past year Jordan has held contacts with Hamas representatives, mainly via its chief of intelligence, Gen. Mohammad Al Dhabi, the prime minister’s brother. At the same time, relations between Jordan and the Palestinian Authority have been damaged.

Jordanian commentators explained that King Abdullah suspected that a “conspiracy” was being hatched between the former chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Bassem Awadallah, and Saeb Erekat, the Palestinian representative in the peace talks with Israel. The purpose of this suspected conspiracy was to turn Jordan into the Palestinians’ alternative homeland.

Some people claim that even a document was written on the subject. A person close to the royal court told Haaretz that these accusations are “nonsense that is being cooked up by those who want to harm Jordan.”

Nonsense or not, the king fired the head of his court and did not reject the meetings with Hamas members. That was supposed to be a clear message to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) and his people: Although they are distancing Jordan from the diplomatic negotiations, the kingdom knows very well how to conduct the political game inside Palestine.

And now, about three months after Awadallah’s dismissal, the king has dismissed

the man who laid the infrastructure for the renewed relationship with Hamas. Al Dhabi has been replaced by Mohammad Rakkad. Has the king now changed his mind and does he want to send Hamas a message that it does not have a Jordanian guarantee either?

The answer is complex and not based only on the Jordan-Hamas or Jordan-PA axes. One of the explanations is that the king wanted to create a “balance” in his court between Awadallah, considered the representative of Jordanian citizens of Palestinian origin, and Al Dhabi, considered the representative of Jordanians of Jordanian origin. Both were very close to the king, but when one “representative” is dismissed, the other should go as well.

But that is only part of the answer to the question of why Al Dhabi was dismissed. In the past year he was responsible for the warming of relations between Jordan and Syria, which became close to Qatar after the Qatari ruler’s role in solving the crisis in Lebanon. Al Dhabi believed that the time had come for Jordan and Qatar to improve relations after almost a decade of tension.

The paradox is that Jordan’s anger at Qatar was aroused in 1999, when

Qatar agreed to serve as a refuge for the Hamas leaders expelled from Jordan.

Now, however, it is Jordan that is pursuing contacts with Hamas. In 2006, Qatar voted for Ban Ki-moon as United Nations secretary general over the Jordanian candidate.

However, last November, a Jordanian delegation headed by the prime minister went to Qatar and signed an agreement on economic cooperation. The anger dissipated and Jordan believed that it had stabilized its relations with its neighbors. Relations with Egypt are close, those with Syria are warming up, and now Qatar has joined the circle of friendship.

And then came the war in Gaza and Jordan once again faces a problem.

Jordan twisted uncomfortably. The climax came before the Arab summit conference convened by the ruler of Qatar. Tremendous pressure was put on Jordan and the PA. The prime minister of Qatar said, for example, that Abbas had told him that if he appeared at the Doha conference “his throat would be slit from ear to ear.” The Jordanian king also hesitated. He explained to the ruler of Qatar that “at this time he cannot appear at a conference that is seen as supporting Hamas, especially when Abu Mazen is not participating in it.”

But the real explanation apparently lies in

the heavy American pressure on the king. According to Jordanian sources, the king was ordered to decide whether he belongs to the “moderate” or “extremist” axis. The king opted for Sharm al-Sheikh over Doha, and the tension was apparent on his face at the Egyptian summit.

The Jordanian newspapers came out with a series of explanations and excuses for the king’s decision, but the end result remains: Syria and Qatar are angry at the king, while Washington and Cairo are pleased. And Israel? The sight of the burned flag still stings, but the removal of the chief of Jordanian intelligence, who wanted to renew the connection between Jordan and Hamas, is soothing to some extent.

Obama to meet with war council on first full day

President Barack Obama’s promise to end the war in Iraq will be on the agenda Wednesday when the new commander in chief meets with top national security aides and senior commanders, officials said.

Obama was summoning his holdover defense secretary, Robert Gates, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, to the White House, along with other members of his National Security Council, to discuss a way ahead in the war, according to two senior military officers.

The officers spoke on condition of anonymity, because the White House had not publicly announced the meeting.

The war in Afghanistan also was to be discussed, with the commander overseeing both conflicts, Gen. David Petraeus, scheduled to attend.

Also scheduled to participate via video teleconference were Gen. David McKiernan, top commander in Afghanistan, and Gen. Ray Odierno, the top commander in Iraq.

He is absolved with the first drop of blood. There are five liters of blood in the body. If someone’s heart is cut open – will those five liters flow out immediately? No. With the first drop of blood, you are absolved, and surely with the next drops, there will be other blessings.

With every drop of blood that drains from your body for the sake of Islam and God, you get blessings, the first of which is that you don’t owe anything anymore – all your debts and bills are covered.

“The martyr… Tonight, we want to look at death in a different light. When we look at a martyr, we see him lying on the ground, his blood flowing, but the martyr sees things differently. He feels like a released prisoner. How does a prisoner feel toward his prison after his release? It’s the place he hates most. How does a fetus feel after leaving his mother’s womb towards that dark tiny room – the womb? Is it conceivable that he would want to go back to that suffocating place? That is how someone who has left this world feels. I hope that Allah will take us from this world as martyrs.

His death is like a movie, in which he sees images of Paradise. He sits and watches these images, and his soul ascends to Allah. Washington: While America battles one of the worst recession in recent years, president-elect Barack Obama may just add on to the financial crunch in his inauguration as President of the United States.

His inauguration ceremony on January 20th is expected to cost a whopping 150 million dollars, making it the most expensive in American History.

Part of the spending includes emergency funding announced by the White House to help with the soaring costs. The surge in spending is partly because of Obama’s decision to make the event as accessible to

the public as possible.

Obama’s inauguration expenses will overshadow his predecessor’s 42.3 million dollars that were spent on George W Bush’s inauguration in 2005 and 33 million dollars on Bill Clinton’s in 1993.

Around 1.5 to two million people are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the United States’ first African American president.

Here’s what to expect, put in numbers:

One ton each of chocolate and cheese.

About 1,500 cases of beer.

Eight hundred pounds (363 kilograms) of bison.

Those are just a few items that the Marriott Wardman Park, Washington’s largest hotel, is stocking for the 49,000 meals it expects to serve January 17 through Inauguration Day.

The hotel is among many businesses and government agencies trying to quantify whatever they can before President-elect Barack Obama’s swearing-in on January 20.

“It’s just amazing,” said Christopher Otway, the Wardman’s catering director.
“The chef hands you the list and says these are the quantities they need and you say, ‘Oh my God!'”

For inaugural planners, dealing with the numbers at first was daunting, said Peter Gage, parade director for the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

The trick to keeping track? “You’ve got to break it down,” Gage said.

A rundown of the numbers, including more than a few estimates:

$40 million, the estimated cost of the inaugural parade, balls, opening ceremonies, giant television screens on National Mall and other expenses for the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

432, total Presidential Inaugural Committee staff members.

0, how many of the free 240,000 tickets that have been distributed thus far for the swearing-in ceremony. They go out this coming week.

112, light bulbs replaced in lampposts on Pennsylvania Avenue parade route.

10, large screens broadcasting swearing-in on the National Mall.

1,000, vendors so far who have received licensed spots to sell wares around parade route and city streets.

15,000 to 18,000, volunteers helping Presidential Inaugural Committee around the city.

4,100, minimum number of portable toilets available to the public.

12,000, eggs that chefs at the Willard InterContinental Hotel will use for meals from Jan. 17 through the inauguration.

If you’re wondering why North America is starting to resemble nuclear winter, then you missed the news.

At December’s U.N. Global Warming conference in Poznan, Poland, 650 of the world’s top climatologists stood up and said man-made global warming is a media generated myth without basis. Said climatologist Dr. David Gee, Chairman of the International Geological Congress, “For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming?”

I asked myself, why would such obviously smart guy say such a ridiculous thing? But it turns out he’s right.

The earth’s temperature peaked in 1998. It’s been falling ever since; it dropped dramatically in 2007 and got worse in 2008, when temperatures touched 1980 levels.

Meanwhile, the University of Illinois’ Arctic Climate Research Center released conclusive satellite photos showing that Arctic ice is back to 1979 levels. What’s more, measurements of Antarctic ice now show that its accumulation is up 5 percent since 1980.

In other words, during what was supposed to be massive global warming, the biggest chunks of ice on earth grew larger. Just as an aside, do you remember when the hole in the ozone layer was going to melt Antarctica? But don’t worry, we’re safe now, that was the nineties.

Dr. Kunihiko, Chancellor of Japan’s Institute of Science and Technology said this: “CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or the other … every scientist knows this, but it doesn’t pay to say so.” Now why would a learned man say such a crazy thing?

This is where the looney left gets lost. Their mantra is atmospheric CO2 levels are escalating and this is unquestionably causing earth’s temperature rise. But ask yourself — if global temperatures are experiencing the biggest sustained drop in decades, while CO2 levels continue to rise — how can it be true?

Ironically, in spite of being shown false, we must now pray for it.

Because a massive study, just released by the Russian Government, contains overwhelming evidence that earth is on the verge of another Ice Age.

Based on core samples from Russia’s Vostok Station in Antarctica, we now know earth’s atmosphere and temperature for the last 420,000 years. This evidence suggests that the 12,000 years of warmth we call the Holocene period is over.

Apparently, we’re headed into an ice age of about 100,000 years — give or take. As for CO2 levels, core samples show conclusively they follow the earth’s temperature rise, not lead it.

It turns out CO2 fluctuations follow the change in sea temperature. As water temperatures rise, oceans release additional dissolved CO2 — like opening a warm brewsky.

To think, early last year, liberals suggested we spend 45 trillion dollars and give up five million jobs to fix global warming.

But there is good news: now that we don’t have to spend any of that money, we can give it all to the banks.

Obama team weighs government bank to ease crisis

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The incoming Obama administration is considering setting up a government-run bank to acquire bad assets clogging the financial system, a person familiar with the Obama team’s thinking said on Saturday.

The U.S. Federal Reserve, Treasury and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp have been in talks about ways to ease a banking crisis that is once again deepening — and a government-run “aggregator bank” is among the options.

Outgoing Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair both said on Friday a government bank was one of a number of ideas U.S. regulators had been discussing.

The source said advisers to President-elect Barack Obama, who takes office on Tuesday, were also considering the idea of an aggregator bank among a range of options that could be pursued.

David Axelrod, a top adviser to Obama, told Reuters the new administration would have something to say about a fresh approach to the financial crisis in “the next few days.”

“I’m not going to get into the structure of how we’re going to approach the revamped financial rescue package,” Axelrod said after speaking to a conference of mayors in Washington.

“What we have to do is approach this with a lot more transparency on the front end.”

In addition to steps to bolster banks, Obama officials want to aggressively attack the underlying causes of the credit crisis: the sharp downturn in the U.S. housing market and the related deterioration in mortgage-related assets.

“There are a range of things we’re going to have to do to stabilize the financial community and part of it is going to involve housing, and part of it is going to involve how we approach this issue generally,” Axelrod said.

BACK TO THE FUTURE

In outlining the idea of an aggregator bank on Friday, Bair and Paulson said the government could use money from the Treasury-administered $700 billion financial rescue fund to capitalize a new institution that would be able to absorb toxic assets now weighing down bank balance sheets.

The hope would be that taking these bad assets off the hands of banks would allow the banks to attract badly needed private capital and renew lending, the original intention behind the bailout fund known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

“I think the key thing is assets purchases, and if you buy something, you have to put it somewhere,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Economy.com.

A surge in U.S. mortgage defaults led to a global credit crisis that has raged since the summer of 2007. Last week, Goldman Sachs estimated that losses worldwide could mount to $2 trillion, about double what has been realized so far.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown told the Financial Times on Saturday that banks need to reveal the true size of their losses as a step toward moving past the crisis.

While officials have been discussing leveraging money from the U.S. bailout fund, it is not clear whether the fund is large enough for the task at hand.

“They may very well have to come back to ask (Congress) for TARP Two,” Zandi said.

ACTIONS NEEDED

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said on Tuesday it was critical to bolster the banking system as a complement to the effort underway in Washington to enact a huge package of tax cuts and spending to lift the recession-mired economy.

“Fiscal actions are unlikely to promote a lasting recovery unless they are accompanied by strong measures to further stabilize and strengthen the financial system,” Bernanke said, laying out three possible ways to aid ailing banks.

The government could buy the assets, perhaps through so-called reverse auctions, as originally planned, but analysts said that is an extremely complicated endeavor and it no longer seems to have traction among policy-makers.

Bernanke also said the government could offer guarantees against losses on assets that would be ring-fenced but remain on bank balance sheets, a tactic the government has used to help Citigroup and Bank of America.

The third option would be to set up bad banks with government cash, an approach similar to the U.S. Resolution Trust Corp, which liquidated almost $400 billion in assets from more than 700 insolvent savings and loans institutions from 1989 to 1995.
