Revelation 12:14 – And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness,

into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

The woman is Israel. The place that God has prepared for her is the Negev wilderness.

A time is one 360 day year, times are two 360 day years, and half a time is 180 days, which totals 1260 days or 3 and ½ prophetic years. Both these scriptures describe the time period of 42 prophetic months (30 days per month) before the end of

the Tribulation Period.

When the antichrist launches his lightning Jihad from the north it will be a two pronged attack. Syrian and Lebanese troops will launch a blitzkrieg strike southward along the western lees of the Galilean and Samaritan mountain. The Palestinians will zoom northward along the western lee of the Judean mountains out of Gaza to link with their comrades coming down from the north. This will cut off coastal Israel from interior

Israel. Some 70% of the Jewish population lives along the narrow coastal strip from Tel Aviv to Haifa. They will be kept pinned down by thousands of katyusha rockets being launched from the bluff top cities of Tul Karm and Qalqilya in the Samarian Mountains.

It will eventually be necessary to air evacuate the population out of this area across the Mediterranean into the Negev, as stated in 12:14. The o ther battle prong, consisting of troops from Iraq, Syria, and Iran, will be directed southward along

the west bank of the Jordan River in a lightning strike. The Palestinians will pour down the hundreds of dendritic valleys in the eastern lee of the Samarian Mountains, armed with shoulder held antitank launchers. They will destroy many of the Israeli tanks coming north to intercept the southward moving Arab tank units of Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

The Jewish population to the east of

the coastal sections, and to the west of the Jordan River, will flee on land in whatever types of transportation may be available.

This has long been the national Israel contingency plan that is to be carried out in

(IsraelNN.com) An Israeli entrepreneur is harnessing the sun’s energy in an industrial park in the northern Negev, where he plans to refine the technology and then replicate it in California’ s Mojave De

sert.

Arnold Goldman was a dreamer who didn’t give up on his dream even when oil prices dropped and the State of California decided not to renew its incentives for clean energy producers in the 1990’s.

Goldman’s Luz International company which he had built in the 1980’s, went bankrupt in 1991 as a result. But the dream didn’t die, and the UCLA and USC-educated scientist built BrightSource Energy Inc.

and Luz II instead.

This past April, the Israeli entrepreneur signed the largest power-buying agreement in the history of solar power with Pacific Gas & Electric.

A month later his clean-energy company raised $115 million from like-minded investors such as Google.org and BP Alternative Energy, enabling him to build the world’s first solar thermal energy field at Rotem Industrial Park in the northern Negev.

Located between the southern cities of Arad and Dimona, the site is the testing ground for five larger solar fields that Goldman plans to build in California.

The field of 1,640 robotic mirrors, called heliostats, looks a little like a mechanical rock concert in action when the sun rises in the morning.

Each mirror is slightly larger than a ping pong table and is controlled by a computer; the tables turn toward the sun as it moves through the sky. The mirrors focus the sun’s rays on the point of a 200-foot tower where a water boiler is to produce high-pressure steam.

The system is designed to produce up to 900 megawatts of clean, renewable energy for the State of California in the next decade, enough to power 540,000 homes per year.

Muslim Terrorists May Be Trying To Sink the Dollar

(IsraelNN.com) Mujahideen Muslim terrorists may be behind the sinking American dollar as part of a campaign to cripple the American economy, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reported. The media watch group, which specializes in tracking Arabic language websites, said that postings on websites the past two years reflect a move toward waging an economic war against the United States.

Mujahideen terrorist groups that operate in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries “have come to the conclusion that it is financial, rather than military, losses that will prompt the U.S. to change its policies in the Middle East and elsewhere,” according to MEMRI.

An article recently posted in Sada Al-Jihad (Echo of Jihad) magazine and posted on several Muslim websites, discusses the September 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S. as having influenced the decline in the dollar. It also cited the cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan as draining the American economy.

Another recent posting stated, “The dollar can expect two additional blows that will break its back… [namely] the announcement of the return of the [religious rule of the] Caliphate…” and the reinstatement of the gold standard in international monetary trade. It urged Mujahideen “to get rid of American dollars” before an “imminent” terrorist attack that “will put an end to the so-called United States of America and destroy its economy completely.”%ad%

MEMRI concluded, “Given that it is highly atypical for Al-Qaeda to give prior warning of its attacks, the message is probably an attempt to pressure Muslims to sell dollars, in order to generate pessimism in the dollar market and thus accelerate the drop in its value.”

Vicious cycle: Rising oil prices, falling dollar

The phenomenon is likely to continue for a while.

This year’s dramatic increase in oil prices and the decline in the dollar are’nt two unfolding crises for the U.S. economy but two sides of a single blockbuster problem.

And unless you understand the vicious cycle of higher oil prices leading to higher trade deficits leading to a weaker dollar leading to higher oil prices, you wont see the changes coming in your everyday life until they hit you like a truck doing 60.

Let me try to explain the cycle and its consequences for the everyday economy where we live our lives.

Lets start with higher oil prices. In the beginning, they were a result of several factors:

Higher demand for oil from the fast-growing economies of China and India.

Supply disruptions in Iraq, Nigeria, Venezuela, Russia and the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Fear that the global oil industry was finding less and less new oil.

A terrorism/war premium.

Buying by traders speculating that oil prices would rise.

Under the pressure of all those circumstances, the price of a barrel of oil in the U.S. climbed to a high near $55 a barrel this year.

Thats a huge increase, considering that the average benchmark price of a barrel was just $21.84 in 2001, and it pushed the cost of U.S. oil and gas imports higher and higher. In October, the Labor Department reported, the $12.3 billion cost of petroleum imports was up a huge 68% from October 2003.

Pricier oil equals higher trade deficits

Because we import so much of the oil we use, the huge jump in petroleum prices has added to the growing U.S. trade deficit in goods and services with the rest of the world. That deficit — the difference between the cost of what we import and what we export –climbed to $51.6 billion in September 2004. Contrast that with the $29.6 billion monthly U.S. trade deficit in January 2002, before the price of oil spiked.

That deficit cant be blamed wholly on the rising price of oil or on U.S. oil imports in general, but the petroleum-related part of the deficit is now so large that it just about guarantees ris

ing oil prices in the future. And thats because oil is priced in U.S. dollars, and the fall of the value of the dollar has led to a decline in the value of the dollars that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries collects for its oil.

Think about being the executive of a Saudi oil company that wants to buy equipment from Frances Schlumberger Limited (SLB, news, msgs). Thanks to the fall in the dollar against the euro, that equipment costs 10% more in dollars on Dec. 8, 2004, than it did a year earlier. And if you go back further to the dollars high against the euro in 2002,

that oil equipment priced in euros now costs 57% more than it did in 2002.

(The euro zone countries represent the biggest source of OPEC imports, so the exchange rate between U.S. dollars and euros is critical to OPEC finances.)

No wonder OPEC is so intent on raising its target price to $30, a huge increase from the current target of $22 to $28 a barrel, as it was expected to do at its meeting today, Dec. 10.

Welcome to the vicious cycle

And this is where the vicious cycle kicks in. Every dollar increase in the price of a barrel of imported oil increases the size of the U.S. trade deficit, which puts more pressure on the value of the U.S. dollar, which leads to a weaker dollar, which makes OPEC countries want to raise the dollar-denominated price of a barrel of oil to make up for the dollars fall, and so on.

A vicious cycle, like its self-reinforcing good counterpart the virtuous cycle, doesnt reverse overnight.

Ending this one will require a drop in U.S. energy imports sufficient to decrease the U.S. energy bill, thereby shrinking the U.S. trade deficit and decreasing the supply of dollars sloshing around OPEC.

(A little fiscal discipline on the part of the U.S. government, a revaluation of the Chinese yuan and a pickup in global growth so that overseas consumers could buy more cheap U.S. exports wouldnt hurt, either.)

Energy efficiency helps — over the long haul

The United States pulled off exactly this kind of energy play beginning in the 1970s. Faced with two rounds of energy price shocks, the U.S. economy doubled its energy efficiency between 1975 and 2004. A similar doubling of efficiency is certainly possible.

Hamas is quite serious about maintaining the current truce. It is to the advantage of the terrorist groups to ease the inconveniences they have brought on their own people in the Gaza Strip. The first of the three articles in this blog shows how much Hamas wants it for their leader to appeal to Islamic Jihad, Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades, and all the other terrorist groups, to stop their rocket launches on Israel. They need to regain some of the public support they lost before future elections are again held with Fatah as their opponent.

It is quite interesting that the Arabic word “kafir” litrerally means “one who covers,” (as in the sense of hiding), and is the Muslim term for an infidel. The word akin to “kafir” in the Hebrew language is “kafar” or “kaphar,” which also means “to cover” as in the blood sacrifice that “covers” our sins, as a lamb sacrifice would do for the Jew and as the sacrifice of Jesus for the Christian. The sacrifice of the Seed described in Genesis 3:15 to end the power of sin Satan held over man after Adam fell, was pictorially forecast in the blood shed by innocent animals to provide their animal skin covering until the Seed came and shed his own blood for sin.

Haniyeh urges all Palestinian factions to honor cease-fire

Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh has called on all Palestinian factions to honor the cease-fire with Israel.

Speaking at the conclusion of Friday prayers, Haniyeh said that “The [Palestinian] factions and people accepted the cease-fire in order to stop the Palestinian people’s suffering, stop the siege [on Gaza] and bring an end to the Israeli occupation.

Therefore, we hope that everyone will respect the national agreement, since its in our mutual interest,” Haniyeh urged.

Haniyeh’s call to honor the cease-fire came after it had been broken yet earlier Friday by terrorists firing two mortar shells at southern Israel.

One of the shells landed near Kibbutz Kfar Aza, in the Sha’ar Hanegev region, while the other landed in an open area. No one was wounded and no damage was reported.

On Thursday afternoon, a Kassam rocket fired from Gaza hit the Sderot industrial zone, exploding near a gas station. No casualties or damage to property were reported in the attack, for which Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility.

Thursday’s attack prompted Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to issue an uncharacteristically sharp demand for an immediate military response and Deputy Premier Haim Ramon urged the cabinet to convene once more to discuss the truce agreement.

On Tuesday, three rockets were fired at Sderot, sending two women into shock and severely damaging a house. Those attacks led to the closing of the Gaza cargo crossings.

IDF spokesman Peter Lerner said industrial fuel was transferred Friday into Gaza to run power stations, but that most crossings remained closed.

Lerner said Israel last let food into the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

Since the Gaza pullout in 2005, more than 120 tons of explosives have made their way in; more than 1,000 machine guns, 32,000 Kalashnikovs, 4,000 RPG launchers, hundreds of rockets, dozens of anti-aircraft missiles, and several hundred mortar shells.

These are astronomical quantities for a military organization which has only 11,000 people who can operate weapons.

Today, weapon smuggling in Gaza is a professional, state-run business, sponsored largely by Iran.

Tehran sees Hamas as a long-term investment – much like Hizbullah. The smuggling operation is a huge, well-oiled machine which cannot be stopped by a verbal agreement with Egypt. (Ynet News)

Tactical Hudna and Islamist Intolerance

Hudna is the first word used in Muslim history to mean cease-fire, specifically in the context of the seventh century Truce of al-Hudaybiyya. Named after a village outside Mecca, the truce came six years after Muhammad and his followers abandoned Mecca for Yathrib, today’s Medina. This move set a pattern of retreat followed by regrouping and rearming, which permits an attack on the territory previously left behind.

Muhammad and the rulers of Mecca negotiated a truce, the essence of which was to permit the Muslims to return unarmed on pilgrimage each year for the next decade. It came to an end two years later, however, when Muhammad entered Mecca with a small, armed force and took the city peacefully. Hudna, in other words, amounted to a temporary truce.

For Muslims, the challenge is to move from a worldview that sees all other religions and all non-Muslim people as inferior, Satanic, ignorant, and subject to Muslim conquest to one that coheres more closely with modern thinking, where religious hatred is increasingly relegated to the history books.

The extent of Islamic terrorism, and the gulf between Islamic thinking on human rights and the norms of the original Declaration of Human Rights, justify concentration on Islamic intolerance as a special problem.

The man child seed of the woman is Jesus Christ.

God promised in Genesis 3:15 that this seed would one day crush the power of Satan, but in so doing would suffer for the price he paid while walking and dying on this earth. Even though the woman is herself a Jewish remnant, there will also be a Jewish remnant within the remnant, a living remnant of believers who testify to the unbelieving Israelis that Jesus is the Messiah, and keep the commandments delivered to them by Jesus Christ. They are a sealed believing remnant of 144,000 Jews living among the one-third of Israel that flees to the Negev. This one-third will number between 1.9 and 2 million.

Revelation 7:4 – And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Through the testimony of the 144,000, and the preaching of the two witnesses who lead them, it will cause all Israel to be saved when Jesus returns, and a spiritual nation shall be born in a day.

Christian Missionaries to Protest Discrimination in Israel

(IsraelNN.com) The US-based Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations has thrown down the gauntlet in what may become a renewed battle over the issue of who has the right to immigrate to Israel.

The group is an umbrella organization for approximately 80 American Christian missionary congregations comprised of worshippers who seek to convince Jews to believe in Jesus. In their houses of worship, these congregations observe some Jewish traditions. But while Jewish law clearly says that Judaism is passed to the next generation through the mother, these missionary congregations say that if the father is Jewish, that’s enough.

Some of the missionaries were born to Jewish mothers and are therefore Jewish according to Jewish law. Under the State’s current Law of Return anyone with at least one Jewish parent or grandparent on ei ther side of

the family is eligible to immigrate to Israel.

It is this law that enabled the Jewish Agency to utilize Jewish funds to bring in some 300,000 non-Jews to Israel from the Former Soviet Union (FSU).

In the past, however, those who profess belief in Jesus have been blocked from acquiring Israeli citizenship because such belief is in direct contradiction to the Jewish faith.

A more serious problem is the compulsion that most members of these missionary congregations feel to convince other Jews to believe in Jesus.

“Those people are proselytizers,” says Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, head of the Ateret Yerushalayim Yeshiva. “They should not be allowed to have an influence on Jews who might be too weak to resist.”

The issue of missionary activity in Israel has been heating up over the past year, particularly since Purim, when the son of a missionary was injured after he opened a booby-trapped gift package received by the family in Ariel.

Orthodox Jewish anti-missionaries were accused of having sent the package, but there was no evidence to indicate that Jews were involved. The boy’s father, Pastor David Ortiz, had been warned repeatedly by Palestinian Authority religious authorities to stop trying to convert Muslims to Christianity.

In the small southern city of Arad, Christian missionaries have also been at the center of controversy. Eddie Beckford, a tall, burly American missionary was arrested earlier this year for attacking a Gur Chassid during a protest by the Yad L’Achim anti-missionary organization outside one of the group’s centers.

Beckford was remanded to house arrest and has since moved to Be’ersheva, where he has joined forces with pastor Howard Bass at the burgeoning Congregation Nahalat Yeshua (Jesus’ Inheritance).

The current f arce just completed in Syri

a brought back to mind a toy I once played with as a very young child. It was one of the first tasks that tested my motor skills.

I would turn the handle round and round on the side of a jack-in-the-box and suddenly Jack the clown would “pop” up out of it to the tune of “Pop Goes the Weasel.”

If anything tangible happens to be discovered, the age of miracles is not past.

The September Israeli airstrike on a suspected nuclear site in Syria had been in the works for months and was delayed only at the strong urging of the U.S. In early July the Israelis presented the U.S. with satellite imagery they said showed a nuclear facility in Syria, plus additional evidence that showed some of the technology was supplied by North Korea.

One U.S. official said the material was “jaw dropping” because it raised questions as to why U.S. intelligence had not previously picked up on the facility, which had likely been there for months if not years.

A senior U.S. official said the Israelis planned to strike during the week of July 14 and in secret high-level meetings American officials argued over how to respond to the intelligence. Some in the administration supported the Israeli action, but others, notably Secretary of State Rice, did not. (ABC News)

Exclusive: Syrians and UN nuclear inspectors play hide and seek

DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources report that the three-man International Atomic Energy Agency team which inspected the El Kibar site bombed by Israel last September, returned to Vienna Wednesday, June 25, with soil and building materials samples gathered secretly without Syrian knowledge. From the Syrians they received different samples said to have been collected at a site which they insisted was a military facility under construction.

During their four days in the country, Olli Heinonen, IAEA deputy director and leading negotiator with the Iranian authorities, and his team interviewed Syrian army officers and men presented by Damascus as having been employed at the facility. They denied it was a nuclear reactor and possessing nuclear credentials themselves. But, according to DEBKAfile’s intelligence sources, the inspectors countered with their own list of officers, scientists and technicians – not only Syrians, but also Iranians and North Koreans employed in building the facility.

The Syrian side denied this and refused the inspectors permission to interview people on their list.

Last week, British, German and Israeli publications released new information from Israeli intelligence sources according to which the El Kibar reactor was intended to be a component of Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s use of plutonium in its weapons projects was to be concealed by having it produced in Syria.

Wednesday, June 25, the London daily, the Guardian, quoted an adviser to Israel’s national security council as saying: “The Iranians were involved in the Syrian programme.

The idea was that the Syrians produce plutonium and the Iranians get their share. Syria had no reprocessing facility for the spent fuel. It’s not deduction alone that brings almost everyone to think that the link exists” – implying that Israel had evidence.

DEBKAfile adds: War tensions between Israel and Iran have shot up in the last few days on the strength of reported Israeli preparations for an attack on Iran’s nuclear installations.

By linking Syria’s destroyed reactor to Iran’s nuclear program, Israeli officials were saying in effect that the attack on an Iranian nuclear installation had already taken place …in Syria.

Syria’s vice president said Wednesday his country allowed UN nuclear inspectors to visit a site in the remote eastern desert allegedly destroyed by IAF jets last year to prove that US allegations of a covert Syrian nuclear program were false.

Farouk al-Sharaa said however that the International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors would not be allowed to probe beyond the Al Kibar site, despite a UN request to visit three other suspect locations.

His comments in an interview with the Hizbullah-owned Al Manar TV station were the first from Syria on the four-day visit by the IAEA team, which ended Wednesday.

A senior UN atomic inspector told reporters Wednesday upon his return to Vienna, Austria, the site of IAEA headquarters, that his team’s initial probe of US allegations was inconclusive and required further checks.

Olli Heinonen, a deputy director general of the agency said he was satisfied with what was achieved on his three-day trip but “there is still work that needs to be done” in follow

ing up on the claims that Syria was hiding elements of a potential nuclear arms program.

He met in the Syrian capital with officials in charge of the nation’s nuclear program and senior generals to discuss Syrian claims that the building flattened by the IAF was a non-nuclear military facility.

With Syrian authorities imposing a virtual news blackout on his trip, few details of the visit had surfaced beyond the fact that Syrian authorities had allowed the three-man inspecting team to visit the Al Kibar site targeted in September.

“They (inspectors) have rights to visit only the concerned site,” al-Sharaa said in the interview Wednesday. He said Syria agreed to the inspection “to prove that their (US) allegations are false and untrue.”

He suggested, however, that even confidence in Syria’s innocence may not be enough to head off a prolonged inspection process because of “the experience of other countries.” He was apparently referring to the UN agency’s protracted probe during former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein’s rule, which did not turn up any evidence of Iraq having had weapons of mass destruction as the US alleged.

Al-Sharaa said Syria wants the Middle East to be a nuclear-free region on condition that Israel also be subjected to monitoring and international inspections.

He said Syria would employ certain “political and diplomatic” methods at the UN Security Council and with the IAEA in case the agency insists on a prolonged nuclear probe and visiting more sites. He did not elaborate or say what they were.

Damascus strongly denies US allegations that it is involved in any nuclear activities and fears the accusations could be used by Washington to rally international pressure against it.

The IAEA visit is billed as a fact-finding mission, but if inspectors uncover evidence of a nascent nuclear program, it could mark the start of a massive investigation similar to the agency’s five-year probe into Iran’s activities. It could also draw in countries such as North Korea, which W

ashington claims helped Damascus and Iran.

The IAEA has little formal inspection rights in Syria, which has declared only a rudimentary nuclear program using a small 27-kilowatt reactor for research and the production of isotopes for medical and agricultural uses.

Heinonen declined to tip his cards on what he and his team had been able to see and do beyond acknowledging that they were able to take environmental samples in the area designed to capture traces of material that were likely spread over a large area by Israeli ordinance.

“We achieved what we wanted on this first trip,” he said. “We continue our discussions, we took the samples we need to take and now it’s time to analyze them and also look at the information we got from Syria.”

“We will see in the days and weeks what will happen next,” he said when asked about the chances of a follow-up visit.
