The Great Evangelical Movement Changed Prophetic Teaching!

John Wesley

is normally credited with being the first great preacher and leader of what came to be called the Great Evangelical Movement.

The movement had its beginning in the 1730’s, according to leading reference sources.

The movement took form from its third rise in the early 1740s with Wesley, along with others, itinerant field preaching and the subsequent founding of religious societies for the formation

of believers. This was the first widely successful evangelical movement in the United Kingdom.

The movement was filled with religious zeal and excitement, such that it swept the world. Unfortunately, it eventually dramatically changed the orthodox prophetic teachings of preachers and teachers before 1740, and is largely responsible for the prophetic beliefs of perhaps 95 percent of the believing world today.

The Methodist Church, which came into existence in 1785, is historically linked with its founder, John Wesley. This Blog is not intended to teach the historical birth dates of the many different denominations on the earth today.

However, if you ever have time, go back to when the Great Evangelical Movement began in the 1730’s and see how many of the churches or groups of today came into existance after that time period.

Many of the huge incorporated ministries that dominate the media and pull in millions from their viewers and hearers, are the offspring of the Great Evangelical Movments.

Is there one single Scripture the Great Evangelical Movement changed, upon which prophetic teaching is based? There most assuredly is, and I will issue you a challenge to make my point. Find me one commentary by anyone on Daniel 9:27 prior to 1740

stating the “HE” that confirmed “the covenant” w as the Antichrist,

and I will eat crow. For all I know there may be one out there somewhere, but I have searched dilligently across the earth and have not yet found it.

Daniel 9:27 – And HE shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

I have yet to find one writer before 1740 that identified the “HE” as the Antichrist. So who did the vast majority of writers before 1740 identify as being the “HE?” They said it was Jesus Christ, and by cracky, they WERE RIGHT! Now just suppose you do find such a commentary, if it exists – am I worried you will? Absolutely not! I am not worried for a good reason – by the time you find it, you will have discovered so many claiming it was Christ, that you will begin to realize it probably is Jesus.

The major reason I have issued the challenge to find such a book is simply this – It is amazing how few modern prophetic teachers actually ever looked back at what was taught on Daniel 9:27 prior to 1740. And it might interest you to know that the majority of writers were still teaching it was Jesus until the Civil War. Where they all wrong before 1740? That is a question few in this generation have ever bothered to answer because they simply never knew everyone believed it was Jesus prior to 1740.

I am extremely greatful that a respectable number were still teaching it was Jesus when I was born in 1932, and that many books were still in the archives teaching it as I grew to adulthood. All the great prophetic buffs of today like Hal Lindsey, Jack Van Impe, John Hagee, Tim LaHaye and the writers of the “Left Behind” series, along with most of those who hold the first-of-the-week-position, have made billions of dollars in their publications assuring believers they will be whisked up before the tribulation period begins. And the central, and by far the singlemost important Scripture, on which their seven year tribulation period, and first-of-the-week position hangs, is none other than Daniel 9:27, and the belief the “HE” is Antichrist. But that teaching on Daniel 9:27 did not exist before 1740, and is the Scripture that allowed first-of-the-weekers to divide the supposed last seven years of Daniel’s 70 Weeks of Years into two neat little three and one-half year periods, the first being a 1260 day period of peace,

and the second being a 1260 day period of great tribulation. See if you can find a book, published before 1740, that had a diagram that showed the last seven years of Dariel’s 70 Weeks of Years divided into two neat little periods of three and one-half years.

I don’t believe you will find one. And if you might happen to find one, why only one? In fact, see how many you find with the diagram from 1740 to 1827? You may not find one, because it is quite likely they did not come into existance until the period 1825 to 1830. Now, let me ask you to consider the following Scriptures that are always used to justify the diagram’s division into two three and one-half year periods.

Daniel 7:25 – And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. (Time = 1 year, Times = 2 Years, and The Dividing of Time = ½ Year)

Israel will be given into his hand for the last three and one-half years before Armageddon.

Daniel 12:7 – And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

All of these things will be finished when the last three and one-half years prior to Armageddon are completed.

Revelation 12:14 – And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Israel will be in the Negev Wilderness for the last three and on-half years prior to Armageddon.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Israel will be in the Negev Wilderness for the last three and one-half years prior to Armageddon.

Revelation 11:3 – And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Israel will be in the Negev Wilderness for three and on-half years before Armageddon.

Revelation 11:2 – But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty

and two months.

The Gentiles will recapture the holy city of Jerusalem three and one-half years before Armageddon, and hold it until Armageddon.

Revelation 13:4-6 – And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? [5] And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

[6] And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

The Antichrist will capture the Temple Mount and continue in power for three and one-half years before Armageddon.

Now, after having looked at all the Scriptures in the Bible that apply to the three and one-half years, isn’t it obvious they all apply to what most advocates of the Great Evangelical Movement position call the last three and one-half years of the tribulation period.

So, where is the one that uses time, times, and half a time, or 1260 days, or 42 months, to refer to the so-called first three and one-half years, commonly referred to as the time of the peace treaty between Israel and the Antichrist. There is only one lonely Scripture to which the advocates of the Great Evangelical Movement position can run – Danel 9:27, and there is only way they can say we still have seven years of Daniel’s 70 Weeks of Years remaining to be fulfilled – They must make the “HE” OF Daniel 9:27 the Antichrist, a teaching that did not exist before 1740.

Daniel 9:27 – And HE shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

If you do hold the Great Evangelical Movement position, please don’t swell up like a great toad with righteous indignation at what you have been reading. At least take a look at what preachers believed before 1740 and reject it by your own evaluation of it. Please consider Archive Prophecy Update 233A, and then read Archive Prophecy Updates 230B, 231, 231A, 231B, 232C, and 233. You will also find Great Evangelical Movements prophecy teachings contrasted with pre-movement positions in Archive Prophecy Updates 73D, 74A, 78A, 123B, 124A, 144A, 144F, and 147D.

I would advised you to take a look at this material. Failure to do so may cause you to have a genuine surprise when a great war suddenly breaks out in the Middle East without three and on-half years of peace prior to its beginning.

It is Merely a Question of WHEN the King of the South (Israel) pushes North against the King of the North (Syria) and Daniel 11:40 to 12:1 starts to be Fulfilled!

Daniel 11:40,41 – And AT THE TIME OF THE END shall the king of the south (ISRAEL) push at him (KING OF THE NORTH): and the king of the north (SYRIA) shall come against him (ISRAEL) like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he (KING OF THE NORTH) shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. [41] He shall enter also into the glorious land (ISRAEL), and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

The antichrist’s initial thrust from the north into the glorious land of Israel will be a two-pronged attack. The Lebanese and Syrian troops will move rapidly south along the base of the western mountains of Galilee and Samaria, and then dig in along the foothills of these two ranges. The Palestinian troops will move quickly north from the Gaza Strip along the base of the western mountain bluffs of Samaria to link up with the Lebanese and Syrian Units, and then they will dig in below the bluffs. The Palestinians will also slide westward down the western slopes of the West Bank to join the dug in forces from the north and the south. The whole purpose will be to box in the coastal zone from Tel Aviv to Haifa, where some seventy percent of the Jewish population abides. A constant hammering of Katyusha rockets will shower down from the high interior elevations around Tulkarm, Qalkilya, and Jenin onto the coastal plain from Tel Aviv to Haifa. This is the first prong of the attack in a plan to “divide and conquer,” one of the oldest military strategies in the manual.

The smuggling of shoulder held anti-tank weapons, several types of rockets, and some anti-aircraft missiles through the Gaza Strip via way of the Egyptian Sinai is well known and continuing at the present time.

It will keep the Israeli coastal plain forces bottled up while the second prong attack sweeps south along the eastern slopes of the mountains of Galilee and Samaria.

Syrian, Iranian, and Iraqi troops will employ a lightning blitzkrieg Jihad strike down the Jordan Valley. The forces of the Palestinian Authority, which have long been smuggling shoulder held anti-tank missile weaponry across the Jordan at night, will come down eastward out of the hundreds of erosion valleys of the Samarian hills, and attack all Israeli tank units proceeding north to intercept the Arab tank divisions. Israel, which has the best Air Force in the world, will be faced with a literal flooding of the skies with inferior aircraft and pilots, such that they will have a turkey shoot.

However, their preoccupation with the destruction of Islamic aircraft will greatly hinder the destruction of the mechanized Arab ground forces. Furthermore, the closeness of the battlefield array of Israeli and Islamic tanks will afford Arab tanks a form of protection from air attacks, in that a fear of casualties from friendly fire will be fully justified.

As the forces of antichrist advance down the Jordan Valley, they will not attack Jordan, but will bypass it. You may use any map showing the lands occupied in 600 B.C. by the descendents of the two sons of Lot, Ammon and Moab, and by the descendents of Jacob’s brother, Esau or Edom, and it will be readily apparent to you that the descendants of these three men were all living w

ithin the confines of the modern day country we know as Jordan. The country of Jordan has no real military, political, or economic value to the antichrist, so it will be bypassed, much as the Japanese held islands of the Pacific were bypassed on the way to Japan. Later, after Jerusalem falls, Jordan will of course pledge allegiance to him and become a part of his empire, but only after he has plucked up their ruler. The antichrist’s troops will reach the midst of Israel within four days after the Jihad attack begins and Jerusalem will fall.

The United States is absolutely confident, based on Israel’s victories over the Arabs in 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973, that what I have just described cannot happen. They will do nothing for this reason, and before they get over their shock, Israel will have been driven into their war contingency evacuation area south of Beersheba. As has been the case in Israel’s four previous conflicts with the Arabs, a truce will be called for by the United Nations, and both the Arabs and Israel will agree to it. Modern day Israel, as they were in the time of the Prophet Moses, will once again be in the wilderness of Israel, with their enemies holding the land from Dan to Beersheba. But this time they will not have to wait for 40 years to go in and possess it, having only to wait for some three and one-half years.
We will be seeing an ever increasing attempt by Syria and Hizbollah in the north attempting to generate more unrest among the pre-occupation Syrian citizens of the Golan prior to 1967. The Golan in Syrian hands would create a major military advantage in a Jihad.

QUNEITRA, Southwest, (SANA) – 550 Syrian citizens of occupied Golan heights arrived this morning into Syria in a four-day visit to their families and relatives. The visit is supervised by the International Red Cross and with the help of the UNDOF.

Coming via liberated city of Quneitra, they were given official and popular reception by party , the NPF and people’s assembly officials as well as families of the visitors.

Governor of Quneitra Nawaf al-Fares said

in a welcome speech “the occasion comes to show feelings of pride of our peoples in the occupied Golan and admiration of their steadfast stances as well as their struggle against the Zionist Israeli enemy in addition to their sticking to the Arab land and identity.”

Fares hoped the next meeting would be on the Syrian Golan land after liberation noting that due to its sons steadfastness and struggle against the Israeli occupier; the victory must be very close and near.

The delegation speech was made by Sheikh Mohammed Jamal Maghribi who said “the visit is to underline that sons of the steadfast Golan are carrying the homeland in their hearts and rejecting submission to all measures and procedures as well the Zionist occupation decisions despite what they are exposed to of oppression and suffering by the brutal forces of Israel.”

Sheikh Maghribi expressed the sons of Syrian Golan pride in the honorable and brave stand of President Bashar al-Assad in supporting the national Lebanese resistance and embracing Syria to our folks in Lebanon due to the Israeli brutal aggression, asserting that these stances are but an extension to our deep-rooted history and pose as a wonderful example every free and honest man is proud of.

The Syrian citizens of Golan referred to the honorable stances of towards Arab fair issues, adding that “Syria has proven to the whole world that she will remain the warm place for every Arab person in different conditions and stages.”

They reiterated commitment to their Syrian Arab identity and land, showing confidence of achieving liberation and victory as well as restoration of the occupied Golan to homeland Syria.

“We are all confident that victory and liberation will soon come under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, and the flag of Syria will rise high on the soil of Golan that is watered by the martyrs’ blood,” Head of the delegation Sheikh Mahmoud al-Safadi said in a statement to SANA reporter.

JERUSALEM – Top members of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s Baath Party were advised in a private briefing to purchase real estate in the Golan Heights because, they were told, the strategic territory will “very soon” be returned to Syria, a Baath official told WorldNetDaily.

“This is not a political recommendation. It was made in private to top officials because it is absolutely estimated that Syria will very soon get the Golan Heights back,” the official said. “We’ve been instructed to purchase what will become prime real estate for us.”

The Golan Heights is mountainous territory captured by the Jewish state after Syria used the terrain to attack Israel in 1967 and again in 1973.

The Heights looks down on major Israeli and Syrian population centers.

It borders Israel, Syria and Lebanon and is claimed by Damascus.

Military officials say returning the Golan Heights to Syria would grant Damascus the ability to mount an effective ground invasion of the Jewish state.

Currently, eight Syrian Baath officials live in the Israeli-occupied sections of the Golan Heights. They can technically become Israeli residents. The Heights has a population of about 35,000 people – approximately 18,000 Jewish residents and 17,000 Arabs, mostly Druze. The Arab residents retain their Syrian citizenship, but under Israeli law can also sue for Israeli citizenship.

The recommendation for Baath officials to purchase Golan Heights real estate follows reports that Syria is forming its own Hezbollah-like guerrilla organizations to fight Israel in hopes of “liberating” the Golan.

Yesterday, a previously unknown organization calling itself the Men of the National Syrian Resistance faxed statements to news agencies threatening to kidnap Israeli soldiers in the Golan Heights.

Earlier this month, WorldNetDaily broke the story Syria is in the process of forming what a Baath Party official called the Front for the Liberation of the Golan Heights, a new “resistance” group that models itself after Hezbollah.

The official told WND Syria learned from Hezbollah’s military campaign against Israel the past month that “fighting” is more effective than peace negotiations with regard to gaining territory.

Hezbollah claims its goal is to liberate the Shebaa Farms,

a small, 125-square-mile bloc situated between Syria, Lebanon and Israel. The cease-fire resolution accepted by Israel to end its military campaign in Lebanon calls for negotiations leading to Israel’s relinquishing of the Shebaa Farms.

The Baath official told WND the Front for the Liberation of the Golan Heights was formed in June and that the group currently consists of Syrian volunteers, many from the Syrian border with Turkey and from Palestinian refugee camps near Damascus. He said Syria held registration for volunteers to join the Front in June.

This week state-run Al-Alam Iranian television featured an interview with a man who identified himself as the leader of the new Front for the Liberation of the Golan Heights.

The man, whose features were blocked out, said his new group consists of “hundreds” of fighters who are training for guerrilla-like raids against Israeli positions in and near the Golan. He claimed the Front has opened several training camps inside Syria.

The United Nations is as useless as a frog in a High School Punch Bowl! It is only good at passing Resolutions and demanding Truces when it benefits the Arab nation, nations, or terror groups involved in conflicts with Israel.

And I do believe it will be the UN which rushes to get a truce between Israel and the Arab nations, after Islam has driven them to Beersheba in the conflict that begins three and one-half years before Armageddon, which will certainly be to the advantage of Islam. Why? Because the Negev is the best camouflaged and heavily fortified military zone on this earth.

And were the Arab forces to attempt to drive into it, Israel would eat them alive – And they know it!

The truce zone will be monitored by the UN, and will stretch across the northern Negev from south of the Gaza Strip to just north of Beersheba to just south of the Dead Sea.

Israel will remain south of it in the Negev down

to the seaport of Eilat for some three and one-half years. (See Archive Prophecy Update Numbers 5 to 11).

If the Head of the United Nations agrees with Russia and China that the path of appeasement is the best approach to stopping Iran from its mad drive to develop thermonuclear weapons of mass destruction, what can the United States expect to come out of any sort of new resolution to be drafted or passed by the Security Council? Annan: Sanctions aren’t best Solution for Iran

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said in a newspaper interview published Saturday that he hoped for a negotiated solution over Iran’s disputed nuclear program rather than sanctions.

Patience can be more productive than leveling UN sanctions, Annan told Le Monde on Friday, a day before arriving in Tehran to discuss the nuclear program with Iranian leaders, as well as the crisis in Lebanon following a cease-fire between the Iranian-backed Hizbullah and Israel.

“I will discuss the (nuclear) problem, but I will not resolve it,” Annan was quoted as saying. He said that during his contacts with Iranian officials he has insisted that a negotiated solution be found “that would avoid another conflict in a region already subjected to great stress at this moment.”

Asked about indications that the United States wants to move to sanctions, Annan replied, “I do not believe that sanctions are the solution to all problems. There are moments when a bit of patience produces lots of effects. I think that is a quality we must exercise more often.”

There have been many religious wars in history, perhaps the most obvious being the ancient Crusades from Europe against Islam, but in the religious wars of the past, regardless of whether you classify one or the other as secular or religious or both, they have been wars involving non-Jews versus non-Jews, or, to put it in Biblical terms, Gentiles versus Gentiles. The Jews were not able to field an army to conduct a war from 135 A.D. to 1948. The time for the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem ended in 70 A.D. to fulfill the first part of the prophecy of Jesus in Luke 21:24, and the Old City of Jerusalem was temporarily restored to Jewish possession in 1967, thereby fulfilling the “times of the Gentiles” in the last part of Luke 21:24 for repossessing it.

Luke 21:24 – And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

However, both Zechariah and John advised it would once again fall to the Gentiles (Non-Jews) for a brief period of 42 months (1260 days, or time, times, and half a time, or three and one-half prophetic years) just before the final battle of Armageddon. However, once again, following the 42 months, during the battle of Armageddon, Israel will recapture Jerusalem, and will be restored to it for a thousand years, calling the Lord their God, and God calling them his people.

Zechariah 13:8 to 14:2 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

[9] And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

Revelation 11:2,3 – But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. [3] And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
Zechariah 14:9 – And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

So Luke 21:24 has already been fulfilled, and we are not waiting for the “times of the Gentiles” to be fulfilled for Jerusalem, but for “the fullness of the Gentiles” age to finish, to “come in” to fulfillment, so that the reign of Christ over all the earth for a thousand years will begin after the battle of Armageddon.

Romans 11:25 – For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

II Corinthians 3:12-16 – Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: [13] And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: [14] But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

[15] But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

[16] Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

Never before in history have all of the Islamic descendants of Abraham through Ishmael and Keturah been arrayed against both Israel and all unbelieving Gentile infidels as they are today, and never before has there been a spirit of Jihad sweeping across the area of the known world when the Bible was written.

It is a call to death for the cause of Allah that is both real and being answered. This coming final war, no matter how many minor skirmishes are fought before the big one does begin, is the last of the Gentile Age, and the call to it by the forces of Islam is a call by the Satanic trinity of the Devil himself – it is the call of the spirit of Antichrist. The unique juxtaposition and character of the national and ethnic groups are now in perfect Biblical position for the first time since the prophecies were written, and the only real question left is this – Just WHEN will it actually begin? Only God knows the precise answer to that question! My guesstimate, and it is no more or less than that, is at some point in time between 2008 and 2012.

I believe the call to the final great battle of Armageddon is the call of the three frogs of Islam to come and die for Allah.

I believe the seat of the beast is

Islam, and the Dragon out of the River Euphrates sends forth three frogs representing his Satanic trinity, whose call will gather the Muslims to the call of the kings of the east around the Euphrates for the final war to bring an end to the Age of the Gentiles at Armageddon.

Revelation 16:10-16 – And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, [11] And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds. [12] And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. [13] And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

[14] For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

[15] Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. [16] And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Israeli soldiers in south Lebanon found a booklet that provided a glimpse into that movement’s religious indoctrination. It extolled holy war and martyrdom and provided examples from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ experience. There are several gates to Heaven and the most prestigious of all is the one for those involved in a Jihad, the document says.

Yoram Kahati, deputy director of Israel’s Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, which the intelligence community uses to release declassified materials, noted that Hizballah considers its fighters “mainly Muslim-Shiite Jihad fighters who fulfill a most important religious commitment.”

Disarmament and cease-fire with Israel are not long-term options since such moves would seem to break religious principles. Hence Hizballah will persistently refuse to disarm, and Iran is going to back it. Hizballah leaders in Lebanon “are going to rebuild and strengthen themselves and if they feel they can carry out (operations)…they have a right to abrogate the cease-fire,” Kahati cautioned. (UPI)
