How Much Support Will Israel Receive from America in the Time of Jacob’s Trouble?

For 32 years I have contended that when Israel is attacked from the north by 10 Arab nations, it will receive only nominal support from the United States,
and that U.S. troops will not be committed to the fray. As each year has flown by, I am more convinced than ever. When the war begins Israel will stand virtually alone, and will be driven into the Negev Wilderness, where God will preserve her for three and on-half years in the time of Jacob’s Trouble.
Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Two-Thirds of the Jewish population will perish in the initial stage of the war, but one-third will flee to, and survive in, the Negev. During the initial attack Jerusalem will fall to the Arabs and remain in their hands for some three and one-half years. At the end of that time God will once again, as it was in Old Testament times, turn back to Israel when she repents near the end of the 1260 days, and will fight for her. Jerusalem will be recaptured, and Israel will be given the Land Grant promised to Abraham.

The United States is beginning to compromise its long term stand and promise to support Israel to the hilt, no matter what, and the article from Israel National News, which follows, is the crack in the dike that will grow wider and wider over the next couple of years, to eventually leave only God standing in the breach for Israel during the last three and one-half years of her stay in the Negev. However, Israel is much better off with “only God,” than all her fickle friends and agreements. I would be a fool not to want my God between myself and the enemy than all the armies that have ever existed in history. It will be the God of Israel who delivers her, not the United States.
The only reason that Fatah and Hamas have put forward this ridiculous joint government proposal is to get millions from the quartet to grow strong enough to destroy Israel.
And yet, the United States now seems to be shifting its position toward compromise and away from its zeal to support Israel at any cost, which the three articles from three different Israeli news sources indicate as being the case.

U.S., Europe Warm to Hamas Government

The Quartet, including the U.S., issued a statement “welcoming” a possible Hamas-Fatah unity government and expressing the “hope” that it would “reflect” recognition of Israel.
Concerned surprise is the order of the day in Jerusalem government corridors, following the announcement issued by the Quartet at the United Nations on Wednesday. The statement was formulated at a meeting of the UN Secretary-General and the foreign ministers of the U.S., Russia and The European Union.
“The Quartet welcomes the efforts of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to form a government of national unity, in the hope that the platform of such a government would reflect Quartet principles and allow for early engagement,” the statement read.
Though it falls short of the full recognition of Hamas sought by the terrorist organization, the statement marks the first time the U.S. has shown any sign of recognition of a government in which Hamas has a part.
Fatah, lead by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), and Hamas, which currently leads the Palestinian Authority government, are trying to form a coalition government. The purpose is to end the boycott imposed by many western countries on the PA, brought on
by the Hamas refusal to recognize Israel and renounce terrorism.
Reuters reported that U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice “played down talk of a U.S. shift,” and that she told reporters, “If indeed there is going to be a government which is able to govern, it is going to need the support of the international community and it needs to be committed to peace.”
Just two days ago, U.S. President George Bush told the United Nations that a PA government would earn recognition only if it recognizes Israel and previous agreements signed with it, and gives up terrorism.
Voice of Israel Radio reports that Jerusalem government officials are “surprised and worried” over the Quartet’s announcement. Attempting to be reassuring, some said the Quartet statement still “maintains the principle” that the above conditions must be met.
Hamas, on the other hand, greeted the statement with jubilation, saying it showed “political flexibility” and “progress.” Just hours before the Quartet statement was released, PA Prime Minister Ismail Haniye of Hamas said again that he has no intention of ever recognizing Israel.

The international Quartet (the UN, U.S., EU, and Russia) declared its support on Wednesday for PA Chairman Abbas’ efforts to form a unity government with Hamas. It was the first time the U.S. had supported the idea of a Palestinian government that included Hamas. The Quartet said it hoped the new PA unity government would recognize Israel, renounce terrorism, and accept previously signed agreements, but did not set these three principles as a condition for its acceptance of the new proposed government. Israeli diplomats were surprised by U.S. support for a Hamas-Fatah government.

DEBKAfile’s Washington sources report that the Middle East Quartet’s support for a Palestinian unity government is just the first step in a new, not fully-consolidated Bush administration initiative on the Palestinian-Israeli dispute. The steps to come will exact from Israel the full price for losing ground in the Lebanon War. Nonetheless, the three war leaders, prime minister Ehud Olmert, defense minister Amir Peretz and chief of staff Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz, continue to evade the sorry consequences of that war and play down the resulting rift with the Bush administration. Indeed the trio shouts down voices calling for an accounting and declares no one can better correct their mistakes and prepare the army and country for another conflict.
In contrast, Hizballah’s Hassan Nasrallah is paying for his blunders. Iran has confined his duties to domestic politics and public appearances in which he excels, no longer empowering him to decide when to fire rockets into northern Israel, order deep cross-border incursions or abduct Israeli soldiers. President George W. Bush cannot demote the Israeli premier, only their relations; and distance him from White House Middle East decision-making. On Sept 13, Bush looked in on a discussion between visiting foreign minister Tzipi LIvni and his National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley on the Lebanon and Palestinian issues and the Iranian nuclear threat. He exchanged a few words with her for the clear purpose of sizing his visitor up. Jerusalem is playing down that seemingly casual encounter like the many symptoms of the widening breach with Washington for the following reasons:
1. The cracks were evident in the course of the 33-day Lebanon War when the US president never once conversed with the PM Olmert.
2. The impression the US president gained of Livni at the White House did not change his mind about not doing business with the Olmert government or persuade him she was of a different caliber.
3. Wash ington is not bl
ind to the low esteem in which the Israeli public holds the prime minister, his team and his party. One of the opinion polls published Thursday, Sept. 21, on the eve of the New Year festival, gives Olmert an approval rating of 7%! Yet he continues to declare that no one is better qualified to lead the country. This gap in the Israel government’s credibility at home and abroad convinced Bush to launch a new Middle East initiative headed by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice without conferring first with Jerusalem.
The Quartet’s announcement at UN Headquarters caught Livni by surprise Wednesday, Sept. 20, the day of her address to the General Assembly. “The Quartet welcomes the efforts of Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas to form a government of national unity, in the hope that the platform of such a government would reflect Quartet principles and allow for early engagement.” This announcement not only opens the way for international recognition of a Palestinian government led by Hamas, but is also the first step towards engaging that government in peacemaking, without requiring Hamas to recognize Israel’s existence or forego terrorism. The US president has no guarantee that engaging the most radical Palestinian elements in a fresh round of Middle East diplomacy will be any more successful than his failed attempt to pacify Iraq by dealing with its violent Sunni insurgents. But whatever the outcome, Israel has taken a dive in Washington’s strategic calculations.

“Invisible” Capital much Longer!

Judgment is coming soon on Israel and Jerusalem in the period of time known as the time of “Jacob’s Trouble.” Israel will be overrun from the north from Dan to Beersheba and temporarily lose Jerusalem to the Arabs for three and one-half prophetic years. But God will deliver his people out of this time of terror at the final Battle of Armageddon.

Rejecting a leading Muslim cleric’s forecast that Jerusalem will soon be the capital of a new Muslim caliphate, Mayor Uri Lupolianski reiterated on Sunday the importance of keeping Jerusalem united and Jewish.
“Ishmaelites have Mecca and Medina,” Lupolianski said in an exclusive interview with The Jerusalem Post, “and Christians have Rome.
But Jerusalem is the everlasting capital of the Jewish people.”
Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement, said during a rally in Umm el-Fahm on Friday evening, “Jerusalem will be the capital city for the new Muslim caliphate very soon.”
Commenting on the violent reaction to Pope Benedict XVI’s recent comments on Islam, Lupolianski said those involved in the attacks were extremists interested in causing political strife.
“I believe there were no expressions of violence in Jerusalem because of the city’s maturity and because all parties understand that any violent incident here would take on graver meaning,” said Lupolianski.
“I do not know what exactly the pope said.
I believe he just quoted something. I also don’t know what Muslims said against him.
“But I can say that in the city of Jerusalem, the indivisible capital of the Jewish state of Israel, each religion is given the right to worship peacefully. In fact, Jerusalem is living proof that peaceful coexistence is possible.”

Jerusalem is bringing Judgment upon Itself by Approving Immorality!

Paul’s reference to the pre-flood and pre-Sodom moral condition of the Old Testament civilizations is quite graphic in Romans 1:26-28. The flood and fire and brimstone are well known as the judgment passed on them by God for their immorality.
Romans 1:26-28 – For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: [27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error

The judgment on this end time generation now being viewed by God is as ripe for judgment as was Sodom an the pre-flood civilizations.
And soon Psalm 2:1-5 will be repeated by God in the greatest outpouring of tectonic chaos that has come on this planet since he made Adam.

[2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, [3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. In the same city of Jerusalem where our Lord was crucified it has become as Sodom and Egypt, and after the two witnesses lie dead in it for three and one-half days, it will receive tectonic chaos judgment.

Jerusalem Municipality Agrees to Permit Gay Parade in November

The Jerusalem municipality agreed to have the World Pride gay parade in the capital on Nov.
10 in order to avoid a threatened Supreme Court action by the parade’s sponsors.
The agreement includes security provided by Jerusalem police and was reached after three hours of negotiations between the State Prosecutor’s Office, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, the Jerusalem municipality , city police and members of the Open House gay organization.
Knesset and City Council members, religious councils from all three major faiths in Jerusalem – Jewish, Muslim and Christian – and international Jewish organizations have fought for months against the event, which was originally slated for August.
One of the fiercest opponents of the mammoth ‘World Pride’ gay parade is Jerusalem City Councilwoman and National Religious Party member Mina Fenton, who gathered tens of thousands signatures on a petition against the event.
Fenton told reporters after collecting more than 100,000 signatures in July that she was sure “these … signatures will clarify to the Supreme Court the majority opinion, as well as the dangers and degradation involved in holding the parade.”
Nonetheless, the Jerusalem municipality caved in to the pressure of facing a petition by the organization in Supreme Court. Efforts by Fenton and numerous others ultimately failed to prevent what the petition called “a provocation and a declared mockery of all that is precious and sacred in the Holy city of Jerusalem in the eyes of the entire world.”
The World Pride gay parade is now officially scheduled to be held in Jerusalem on November 10. The municipality will handle the procedural arrangements, with security for the event to be provided by Jerusalem police officers.
It is not clear whether the rest of the week-long activities originally planned by Open House have been approved.
Those activities were to have included a day of activities the Knesset – which numerous MK’s have asked the Speaker, Dalia Itzik, to cancel – to conclude with an event the organization’s website calls “‘Good Jerusalem Children’ – the greatest youth party in Israel.”

Seventy-one year-old Moshe Tzori is a farmer with a guilty conscience.
“The soil has been good to me all my life, but have I been good to it?” he asks.
One would think that Tzori has engaged in some nefarious activities to warrant such misgivings about his agrarian past – but no, far from it. All he has done is exactly what most farmers traditionally do: overirrigate.
Why is that so bad?
Explains Tzori, a longtime resident of Moshav Nir Banimin in the northern Negev: “Water wastage is bad enough in a country like Israel where it is so scarce; but there is another aspect and no less disturbing – pollution. Unused agricultural water spreads harmful insecticides, pesticides and herbicides into our underground water supplies. This stuff is poison. It’s bad enough that we have to inflict our crops with it, but then to contaminate our subterranean water resources is untenable. Why? Because it is preventable.”
The bottom line, says Tzori, is that if we used only the water that was “precisely required,” our planet would be far healthier.
Tzori cites the example of Caesarea, a boutique housing estate where real estate sells for millions of dollars. He poses the question “What is causing more pollution in the area – the Hadera power station or the golf course?”
The power station, which runs on coal, pollutes the air, but with new enforced regulations, filters have been installed reducing the dangers. On the other hand, the huge expanse of the golf course is constantly over watered, and the excess water takes harmful fertilizers with it and seeps into underground aquifers. If the supply of water was controlled to provide precisely what the grass naturally requires, there would be no excess to pollute the earth below. This phenomenon, according to Tzori, is “occurring everywhere, and through water wastage pollutants are seeping into our streams, rivers and underground water resources.”
This problem had been tormenting him for years. No ivory tower analyst, Tzori was not satisfied to merely lament his past culpability as a successful farmer, so he set about working for a solution.
He believes he has succeeded.
With more than 40 years of literally “in the field” experience and supported by his highly qualified sons with technical backgrounds, five years ago Tzori came up with an invention that could revolutionize the nature and scope of husbandry.
Simply put, his CommonSensor, as he calls it, produced by his company Commonsensor Ltd. (www.common-sensor.com), is a computerized precision device that prevents inefficient water usage and dramatically reduces pollution. It enables the maximum exploitation of available water for irrigating field and greenhouse crops, as well as home and public gardens.
“The beauty of it,” he assures, “is that it leaves no residual water that contains waste fertilizers to percolate underground.”
What’s more, according to Tzori, research has shown that “there could be anywhere from a 50% to 70% saving in water costs.”
If these findings are not sufficiently persuasive, Tzori assures that “We have also found that an exact dosage of irrigation increases the quantity, as well as improving the quality of the crop. You won’t believe how much sweeter fruit tastes.”
Supporters of organic food would have little difficulty understanding why.
Lisa Cohen, the Welsh-born director of the Sharon branch of The Council for a Beautiful Israel – an advocate for organic food – makes a strong connection between the runaway use of chemicals in modern farming and the effect it has on the quality of our food.
“The fresh produce we buy in supermarkets may look good with its standardized shapes, colors and packaging, but it tastes like chemicals. We have become consumers of chemicals.
We drink them in our water and eat them in our food, leading to the high incidence of cancer in most societies,” says Cohen.
She feels that Tzori’s revelations and device are “well worth studying.”
That is precisely what has been happening for the past few years at Israel’s prestigious Volcani Institute, as well as the monitoring of some 20 units installed for commercial farming, agricultural research and home gardening.
The results, says Tzori, are excellent.
So how did he arrive at his invention?
A lifelong observer of nature and a graduate of the Kaduri Agricultural School in the Galilee, Tzori felt that who better to understand the needs of nature but nature itself. It would be arrogant to think otherwise, he says. Man assumes he understands the cyclical process of nature and turns the tap on and off at his choosing.
“He will take a hose or turn on a water sprinkler for 20, 30 or 40 minutes, but on what basis is he determining the duration?” asks Tzori. “For the most part, it’s guesswork.”
What makes his device unique is that the irrigation is plant-driven.
The plant decides when it needs water and how much. All other systems rely on a human operator to decide the times of irrigation and the amount of water supplied, regardless of the requirements of the plant.
And that seems to be the point: No one had thought to tap in to the plant to find out when it’s thirsty. All you have to do is place the device, operated by solar-heated batteries, in a critical spot in the crops, flowerbed, grass or other area and let the plant take over the automatic control of the irrigation. The selected or anchor species will make the determination for a wide area, requiring only one device, say, in a wheat field, cluster of trees or patch of grass.
What is interesting is that the amount of water released would not necessarily be at the same times or amounts each day, even if the climatic conditions appear similar.
“In the same way that all vegetation goes through cyclical changes on a seasonal basis, which are easily recognizable, it also passes through cyclical changes on a daily basis, relating to slight variations in the weather, soil and other factors that are not identifiable.
The plant senses these variations, which are picked up by the device, and it releases the right amount of water accordingly.”
Tzori says he is indebted to his sons, three of whom are highly qualified with technical backgrounds in hi-tech industries, and a fourth who is a lawyer. Patents for new inventions are not new to the Tzori family but have been mainly in the software industry.
“While I had crystallized my ideas relating to irrigation many years ago, there was little I could do to take the matter further until the dramatic advancement in micro-electromechanical technology of recent years. That is where my sons came in.”
The pivotal phase in the development came not in a laboratory but “under a tree on my mosh
av. It’s always been the favorite place for
the family to sit.
When my boys said, ‘Okay Abba, what’s your idea?’ they said, ‘Give to us, and we will come up with the technology.'”
They did, and the rest is not only history but may also be the future.
So before sprinklers and the garden hose are classified as weapons of mass destruction, Tzori’s invention may well join Israel’s impressive track record of innovative contributions to global agriculture.

Technological Advance in Wilderness Food Production!

Having long touted the Negev Wilderness as the forced future home of Israel
for some three and one-half years of tribulation, I have not been surprised by the numerous recent technological agricultural discoveries made in research, which will produce more and better quality crops in the Negev. The latest discovery in the Arutz Sheva Israel National News is a welcome addition to the other discoveries, which we have mentioned in our Prophecy Updates and Blog releases over the last six years.
If you will take the time to read Archive Prophecy Updates 5 through 12, it will give you an insight as to the importance of the latest discovery in increasing plant growth in many soil profiles that exist in the Negev. These discoveries will be a blessing to the woman Israel in Revelation 12:6, once she is driven into the Negev by an Islamic Jihad. Israeli Research Paves the Way to Grow Crops in Saline Land

Israeli researchers from Haifa University’s Institute of Evolution have isolated a gene that withstands salinity – meaning a great increase in the amount of worldwide land available for agriculture.
Prof. Evyatar Nevo, director of the Institute, told David Brinn of Israel 21c.org that the new research “will contribute to a significant increase in the amount of arable land available for agriculture.”
Of the earth’s 57 million square miles of land, only about 12 million (21%) can be used for growing crops – and that amount is diminishing by 1% every three years. The new research will make it possible to grow plants and crops in saline earth – land that has been affected by too much salt in soil or in irrigation water. Brinn reports that modern methods of irrigation and fertilization of crops have caused much of the arable lands around the world to become saline.
Prof. Nevo’s team studied fungi in the Dead Sea, which is ten times more salty than the oceans. “We became interested in the fungi’s genetic resources,” Nevo said, “[asking] what made them thrive in the salty Dead Sea.”
A common fungal species known as Eurotium herbariorum was isolated from the lake. One of Nevo’s doctoral students, Yan Jin, from China, then isolated and sequenced the HOG gene that is responsible, in concert with other genes, for the fungus’ ability to defend itself from the salinity of the Dead Sea.
The gene was introduced into ‘saccharomyces cerevisiae’ – better known as baker’s yeast – and the team observed that the resultant transgenic yeast was able to tolerate more salt than normal. The new yeast was also able to better withstand extreme heat and cold.
The results of the study were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences [PNAS] of the United States.
The next step was to transfer the gene into
the model plants Arabi-dopsis – successfully making it salt-resistant.
“The genetic salt resistant resources of the Dead Sea could be very important for revolutionizing saline agriculture around the world,” Nevo concluded. “If we can transform this gene and other genes we’ve cloned, we’ll be able to improve crop production by making them salt tolerant and enable the growth of crops like wheat in a tepid desert area. Our goal is to develop a battery of salt resistant genes to be used for crop improvement.”
