I believe the intimidation tactics currently being employed on the Pope and Catholicism will lead to a pacification effect on the interests of the Catholic Churches sprinkled through the Islamic lands. In the end I believe the Catholic Church will ride in support on the back of Islam as opposed to supporting Jews in their conflict with the Arabs. All of the current activity against the Pope will die down, and the reconciliatory efforts will eventually cause Rome to get on board the Islamic Beast in its own best interests. The current outburst of terror against the Pope is just a shadow of what will come when the Islamic beast turns its full fury on Rome, the city which ruled over the known world at the time John wrote the Book of Revelation. Following the breakup of the many colonial empires following World Wars I and II, there has been a great influx of Islamic believers into Europe and southern Eurasia, while a huge migration of Jews to Israel out of these two areas accompanied it. It would be very unwise for the Vatican to support the Jews in a Middle East War. They must support the Arabs if they do not want all of their church buildings burned and their officials and parishioners killed.
However, after Islam has driven Israel into the Negev, it will turn on the Catholic belief, strip it of all its property in the Islamic countries, kill its followers, and burn its edifices with fire. I have taught for thirty years this would happen during the final three and one-half years before the final battle of Armageddon.

What is happening now will eventually die down, but it is merely a drop in the bucket to what will happen in the Jihad that begins three and one-half years before Armageddon.

Tensions Still High over Pope’s Remarks

Al-Qaida in Iraq and its allies responded on Monday to Pope Benedict XVI’s remarks on Islam and holy war, proclaiming that jihad would continue until Islam takes over the world.
The Mujahedeen Shura Council, an umbrella organization of Sunni Arab extremist groups that includes al-Qaida in Iraq, issued a statement on a Web forum about the pope’s remarks, saying the pontiff and the West were “doomed.” The authenticity of the statement could not be immediately independently verified.
“You infidels and despotic, we will continue our jihad (holy war) and never stop until God avails us to chop your necks and raise the fluttering banner of monotheism when God’s rule is established governing all people and nations,” the statement said.
In some parts of the Middle East, where Muslims hurled firebombs at seven churches in the West Bank and Gaza Strip over the weekend, Christian leaders posted guards outside some churches.
“We are afraid,” said Sonia Kobatazi, a Christian Lebanese, after Mass on Sunday at the Maronite Christian St. George Cathedral in Beirut, Lebanon, where about a dozen policemen carrying automatic weapons stood guard outside. Police in Egypt also said security was tighter at churches and universities.
The protests and violence have stirred up memories of the fury over cartoons that were published in a Danish newspaper of Muhammad, as well as fears of violence against Christians.
Some feared that the execution-style killing of an elderly nun gunned down Sunday at the Somali hospital where she worked might be connected to anger over the pope’s comments.
In Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told a group of clerics that demonstrators should target the United States in their protests over the pope.
“Those who take benefit from pope’s comment and drive their own arrogant policies should be targeted of attack and protest,” he said.

Iraq’s al-Qaida threatens to ‘Destroy the Cross’

Al-Qaida operatives in Iraq threatened on Monday to “destroy the cross and to slash the throats of those who believe in the cross.”
The group cautioned Pope Benedict XVI, who sparked anger among Muslims worldwide after making remarks last week about Islam, that they would continue fighting their holy war against the rest of the world’s non-believers.
The Mujahedeen Shura Council, an umbrella organization of Sunni Arab extremist groups that includes al-Qaida in Iraq, issued a statement on their Islamic web site,
warning the pope of their agenda to take over Rome.
“You infidels and despotic, we will continue our jihad (holy war) and never stop until God avails us to chop your necks and raise the fluttering banner of monotheism when God’s rule is established governing all people and nations,” the statement said.
The group also warned the non-Muslim world that an ultimatum would be given – “conversion to Islam or death by the sword.”

Palestinian Muslims Attack Five Christian Churches

Palestinians wielding guns and firebombs attacked five churches in the West Bank and Gaza on Saturday, following remarks by Pope Benedict XVI that angered many Muslims. The attacks left church doors charred and walls pockmarked with bullet holes and scorched by firebombs. At least five firebombs hit Nablus’ Anglican church and firebombings left black scorch marks on the walls and windows of Greek Orthodox churche
s as well. Later Saturday, four masked gunmen doused the main doors of Nablus’ Roman and Greek Catholic churches with lighter fluid, then set them afire.
They also opened fire on the buildings.
In Gaza City, militants opened fire at a Greek Orthodox church. Explosive devices were set off at the same Gaza church on Friday.
George Awad, a cleric at the Greek Orthodox church in Nablus, said he and other Christians have apologized for the pope’s remarks and urged Muslims to use restraint.
“There is no reason to burn our churches,” he said. (AP/Washington Post)
