The article which follows from the World Tribune.com is just a possibility that will be held in reserve, and only be carried out if the rockets launched from the Hamas controlled Gaza Strip become a real problem. I have indicated in previous Blogs it will happen if the missiles begin to find industrial targets and a death toll begins to build up.

I am sure this is an issue that President Bush and the Israeli leadership have discussed for several years.

It is unfortunate, but the only thing the terrorist groups respect is force, and that is what Israel may be forced to apply to the Gaza Strip terrorists by a direct invasion.

Israel to Propose Invasion of “Hamastan” in Bush Meeting

TEL AVIV — Prime Minister Ehud Olmert plans to present President George Bush with a military proposal that calls for the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.

Over the last few weeks, the military and Defense Ministry have presented Olmert with several plans to invade the Gaza Strip, Middle East Newsline reported. They include the creation of a 50-square kilometer zone that would keep Palestinian gunners out of the range of strategic facilities south of Ashkelon. “The most burning and critical problem is ‘Hamastan’ in the Gaza Strip,” Amos Gilad, the director of the Defense Ministry’s political-military division, said.

Gilad was referring to the Israeli assessment that Hamas has established in

the Gaza Strip what officials term an Islamic terrorist regime similar to that of Afghanistan in

the 1990s. Officials said such a Palestinian entity would endanger the interests of the United States as well as such regional allies as Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

So far, however, Olmert, supported by Chief of Staff Lt.

Gen. Dan Halutz, has opposed any ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

Officials said Olmert and Halutz have warned that international support for Israel would plummet and that the United States would demonstrate greater empathy for a Hamas-dominated Palestinian Authority.

Officials said the military’s General Staff has been drafting Israeli contingencies to Palestinian missile fire from the Gaza Strip for discussion in the United States over the next two weeks. They said the proposals would be presented during the visit by Olmert to Washington in late May, where he was scheduled to meet Bush and senior administration officials.

Officials said Olmert has been pressed by the military to refrain from detailed discussion of his plan for a unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank. They said the military argued that focusing on additional withdrawal, particularly for the near term, would signal to the United States that the Gaza Strip constitutes an irritant rather than a threat to Israel. Olmert was scheduled to arrive in the United States on May 21 and meet Bush on May 23.

“The military and Defense Ministry have urged Olmert to make this [Gaza invasion] the most important topic of his meetings with Bush, just below that of Iran,” an official said.

and their missile capabilities and directly threaten Ashkelon. Maj. Gen. Yoav Gallant, chief of the military’s Southern Command, said the military and Israel were paying an “unbelievable” price for the daily missile strikes on southern Israel.

Galant said he has obtained the approval of the General Staff as well as outgoing Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz for a major attack on the Gaza Strip.

On May 7, Mofaz was replaced by Amir Peretz as defense minister. Peretz has not openly discussed Israeli options to Palestinian missile fire, but urged the renewal of diplomatic talks with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

“A number of alternatives are being discussed, including the reoccupation of Gaza to halt the launching of missiles,” Gallant said.

In a radio interview, Galant said Southern Command has trained forces for a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip.

He said the continued Palestinian use of Kassam-class and Katyusha rockets and missiles could spark a widescale military operation.

“We are talking about a more severe military action,” Gallant said. “The price that we are paying because of the escalating Palestinian attacks is unbelievable.”

Officials said the Palestinians have continually improved their missile capability.

They said Islamic Jihad and Hamas have obtained expertise in the production of

the BM-21 Grad rocket, with a range of 20 kilometers. So far, Jihad has fired at least two Grad rockets into Israel.

The military, officials said, has warned Olmert that Palestinian missile strikes have harmed Israel’s deterrence and would encourage Hizbullah to escalate tensions along the Lebanese border. At the same time, they said, Palestinian insurgency groups have sought to duplicate missile production and deployment in the West Bank.

At a May 9 conference on power projection, former Israel Air Force commander and Defense Ministry director-general, David Ivry, warned that Israel’s deterrence was built on national will rather than the size of its military.

He said Middle East adversaries remain impressed by the Israeli rescue of hostages in Uganda in 1976 and the airlift of Ethiopian Jews from Sudan in the early 1980s.

“Deterrence is the image of capability combined with the image of the readiness to use this capability,” Ivry said. “And this is much more important than the number of platforms.”

Ex-MI chief Ze’evi warns of impending world jihad ‘tsunami’

Former Military Intelligence chief Aharon Ze’evi warned Monday morning of an impending world jihad “tsunami” that he said may soon descend on the entire Middle East.

Ze’evi, speaking at a Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies conference in Tel Aviv University, said that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinijad has been overheard promising the “end of history in two or three years.”

Ze’evi recommended that the Iranian threats be taken seriously, saying

that Tehran will soon have nuclear warhead compatible surface-to-surface missiles with a range of 5,000 kilometers, putting Europe within striking distance.

Ze’evi also warned that Israel should not rule out the possibility of a conventional war against Islamic militants.

Ze’evi said he foresees this war breaking out on Israel’s northern frontier, against Syria and Hezbollah.

Emphasizing the radicalization of Islamic militancy, Ze’evi cited recent changes in the objectives of major militant organizations, which have recently begun targeting sites in Arab countries.

“We are seeing attacks carried out in Amman, Dahab and Sharm el-Sheikh,” said Ze’evi.

He cited the increased accessibility of Internet in the Arab world as facilitating the process, saying, “Today, anyone who is interested can learn how to blow up a bomb.”

Major General (Res.) Ze’evi stepped down as chief of Military Intelligence about four months ago, and was replaced by Major General Amos Yadlin.

The net of “Operation Defensive Shield” is slowly closing on the Palestinians as Phase I of a modified 1968 Yigal Allon Plan is now closing. Phase II will be the building of secure outer rings around the major Palestinian cities to control the traffic flowing in an out of them. Phase III will be the gradual building of a fenced “buffer zone” around the inner periphery of the “Green Line” West Bank Border.

The “buffer zone” will extend from inside the green line to include many of the Israeli settlements, thereby affording them protection

from terrorist intrusions. The only thing that can halt this buffer zone “forced peace” will be for the terrorist groups to stop their activities, and for the Palestinians to accept an offer slightly less than the one previously offered to them at Camp David by Ehud Barak.

One way or the other, Israel is eventually headed for a peace with security or, as the Scripture puts it, “peace and safety.”

It has been more than four years since Israel began to build the security barrier around the West Bank and Gaza Strip in earnest. During that period I have issued many updates on its current status and predicted length.

At times its predicted final length was given as so and so,

and at other times it was extended, and then later retracted in length by other sources. The following excerpts, from a May 11, 2006 article by Ksenia Svtova and Eetta Prince-Gibson in the Jerusalem Post titled “Unfinished Business,” give the latest information on the current particulars of the security barrier. The final length of the completed barrier, including the portion paralleling the Jordan River on the eastern side of the West Bank, is estimated to be 531 miles.

The history of the Jerusalem Envelope began on March 13, 2002, at the height

of the intifada, at an urgent session of a government Committee on National Security.

The committee approved the plan for the Jerusalem Envelope in order to “improve the effectiveness of combating terrorism in the Jerusalem area

and to preserve the Israeli interest in it.”

A month later, on April 14, following the Park Hotel massacre in Netanya during Seder night, the committee met again. Responsibility for the construction of

the barrier was delegated to the Defense Ministry, which was instructed to consult with the Internal Security Ministry, the Israel Defense Forces, Israel Police and the relevant municipal and other authorities. The Seam Project was established within the Defense Ministry in order to implement the decision.

The committee issued a directive to construct the barrier immediately in the three areas they deemed the most troublesome – Anin (in the vicinity of Umm el-Fahm area); the Tulkarm circuit; and the Jerusalem area. The authorities considered these three spots to be the most vulnerable and the easiest to penetrate.

The Defense Ministry told In Jerusalem that when completed, the Jerusalem Envelope, as currently routed, will be 88 km.

According to data presented this week to the government by former defense minister Shaul Mofaz, when completed, the entire security barrier will measure some 870 km., of which 335 km. are already operational; 137 km. are under construction; 28 km. have been prepared for construction; 26 km. are currently being challenged within the Israeli courts; 119 km. have been put on hold under court orders; 13 km. are undergoing statutory processes and adjustment; 138 km. are still being examined by the Justice Ministry and 92 km. are awaiting the approval of the political echelons.

According to the proposed route as presented on the official Web site of the Defense Ministry (www.securityfence.mod.gov.il), in the Jerusalem area the fence will not follow the city’s municipal boundaries. Rather, it will include some of both the Jewish and Palestinian settlements that are situated “in close proximity” to those borders.

Atomic War – Yes or No? Difference of Opinion on when Iran will have Enriched Uranium of Sufficient Quality and Quantity to build Nuclear Bombs.

There has been a wild guessing game going on for several years

as to when Iran will have nuclear weapons. I have heard estimates that range from one to eight years from a multitude of articles over the last two years.

The latest two estimates by Israel and America appear in the articles which follow from DEBKAfile as to when it will happen. The Israel Intelligence guesses two years. United States Intelligence guesses 2010.

My guesstimate is after 2008 but before 2012, but I do not expect Iran to use them. I have never been as concerned as many others who teach prophecy about whether or not Iran gets nuclear weapons. I have never believed the coming conflict will be nuclear. My reason for taking this position is found in all my books.

I am including Archive Prophecy Update Number 129C describing my take on the coming war being of a non-nuclear character. It follows the DEBKAfile articles.

DEBKAfile Exclusive: Washington does not buy Israel intelligence’s two-year timeline for Iran to produce a nuclear weapon

Ten days before Ehud Olmert pays his first visit to Washington as Israeli prime minister, US intelligence is digging in its heels on its own timeline, which estimates that Tehran needs at least three to four years in stages to reach the point of being able to produce weapons-grade enriched uranium for a bomb and nuclear-capable ballistic missiles.

The view there is that military action need not be considered before then.

This distancing from the Israeli estimate cut the ground in advance from the main theme Olmert proposed to raise in his talks with US leaders. The message Washington delivered in advance of those talks was that Jerusalem would not be allowed to dictate American moves – diplomatic or military – on the Iranian crisis.

The Olmert government would be best advised to line up behind Washington on this issue, as did the Sharon government in 2003 before the US invasion of Iraq.

DEBKAfile’s political circles add: In response to this message, the prime minister held last-minute talks this week with the chief of staff and Mossad and military intelligence heads on ways to rework the Israeli position on the Iran question and bring it closer to the definitions held in Washington.

However, Olmert may be confronted in his talks with the president, vice president and secretaries of state and defense, with an American demand for a guarantee against any unilateral Israeli initiative on Iran without first touching base with Washington.

The Bush administration turned tough, according to DEBKAfile’s Washington sources, after receiving a briefing from two high-ranking US officials on secret talks they held with top Israeli government officials last week.

The visitors, Stuart Levey, US Treasury Undersecretary for countering terrorist financing and a National Security Council Iran expert, found the Israeli government ill-informed and unfocused on the specifics of the Iranian nuclear program.

They also reported that Israeli officials were not on top of the methods by which Iran finances its clandestine nuclear activities and feeds money to Tehran-sponsored terrorist, including the radical Hizballah and Palestinian Hamas. Another of the subjects Olmert proposes to raise with US leaders is the disarming of Hizballah and its replacement in South Lebanon by the Lebanese army.

He also hopes to gain approval for his “convergence plan” for West Bank settlements as a stage before determining Israel’s eastern border – with or without a Palestinian negotiating partner. The low performance grade the two officials awarded does not bode well for the new Israeli prime minister’s chances of achieving a good rapport and cooperation with the Bush administration on any of these key issues. His chief advisers leave for Washington Saturday night, May 13, to lay the groundwork for those discussions and an effort to iron out potential crimps.

Atomic War in Israel – Yes or No?

One of the main reasons I wrote three books on prophecy in the late seventies and early eighties was to establish a case advocated by teachers of the pre-World War II era. It was, simply stated, that man would not destroy the earth with his weaponry, but rather that God

would destroy the earth by the use of this own power. I am certain that the horrifying changes in the topography of Israel, as well as the terrifying destruction of the antichrist’s forces at Armageddon, are by the awesome power of God, not atomic, chemical, or biological weapons of man. The lifting of the land from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem, the breaking up of Jerusalem into three sections, the splitting of the Mount of Olives, and the consuming of the flesh, tongues, and eyes of the antichrist’s men are natural phenomena unleashed by God, not by man. All the Scriptures dealing with these phenomena unleashed by God are covered in the Birth Pang Archives.

There are many advocates of a great atomic, chemical, and biological war in Israel when the antichrist attacks 1260 days before Armageddon. It might happen at the time of Armageddon, but the initial attack

will start what amounts to a non-nuclear, non-chemical, and non-biological war. So why am I so confident and outspoken about this being the case?

Israel has more than 200 extremely well concealed missile silos in the Negev between Beersheba and the Gulf of Aqabah.

It has more than 300 nuclear, chemical, and biological warheads to mount on Jericho missiles.

The Jericho is a very accurate missile, and can hit a target in any Islamic country from Morocco to Pakistan and from Turkey to Yemen.

Israel has an excellent anti-missile defense to protect its array of silos, warheads, and missiles. It is able to pick up an incoming enemy missile launched from Syria before it reaches it maximum altitude.

So why do I believe this array of WMD will not be unleashed by Israel when it is attacked? Because the Israeli War Contingency Plan of Israel directs that WMD will never be launched against a foreign nation unless they are first launched against Israel.

So how do I know the

Islamic countries will not launch WMD in their initial attack? All of them are well aware of what is listed in (1) through (5)! The Soviet Union, which it existed, shared Israeli intelligence information with Syria, which it collected over a long period of time from its hundreds of spy satellites it launched from pads between Moscow and the White Sea, and on the eastern side of the Aral Sea. Syria, in turn, has shared it with most of the other Islamic countries around Israel. Only a leader possessed of rank insanity would ever launch WMD first against Israel, which is why I was so relieved when Saddam Hussein was taken out of the way. The Iranian leaders are Persian in character, very cool and calculating in what they do. Believe me, they may be 100 percent in favor of individual suicide bombers on a personal basis, but they are not in favor of having the United States, European, and Israeli nuclear arsenals wipe their homeland off the face of the earth with their vast nuclear arsenals. The Persian kings were great sword rattlers, and their descendants are much the same.

Many believe the United States will quickly rush to the aid of Israel, and, as the world’s greatest power, will immediately deliver her from any kind of attack she can’t handle. There are two problems with this idea:

The United States believes Israel can defeat any Islamic attack on its own without any help from us. After all, Israel has easily done so in three previous wars.

This will be a lightning Jihad, and better coordinated than any of the previous wars, and this time Israel will have a Palestinian state attacking it from within, while the other Islamic nations come in from outside its borders. It will probably last less than three weeks, and Jerusalem is likely to fall within six days. By the time we decide they must have our help it will be too late because they will have occupied most of the land from Dan to Beersheba.

By this time it would take months, as it did in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Freedom Iraq, to get sufficient American troops on the ground to do any good. I believe all American troops will have been withdrawn from the Arab countries before the Jihad is launched against Israel by ten Arab nations.

What was the character of the past three wars? They were all very short in duration, and they all ended abruptly in a truce. That will be the case in this war. The United States knows that the Negev is the place where Israel will flee. When we believe they are safely in the Negev, we will be more than willing to accept a truce to give us time to think about what to do, and Israel will remain trapped in the Negev for some three and one-half years.

STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!

If the majority of the Palestinian population chose to elect a

majority of Hamas terrorists, who then formed a new Palestinian government,

then why should we pay the Palestinian government employees salaries?

Every time a situation arises in the Middle East that does not seem to be justified, I always hear the justification given as: “We must not do this, or, we must do this, because to do it or not to do it could upset the stability of Israel and/or the Middle East.” Good Grief! How can you make the instability any greater than it is currently

? Do you really think salaries, food, clothing and shelter from the “big devil” and “little devil” are going to change or placate Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades, or any of the so called freedom fighters, who are little more than suicidal thugs practicing religious fanaticism.

And yet the international community is convinced that financial support cast as pearls before swine (that in the end will turn against us for our kindness) is the right way to go!

I agree with a recent adage expressed in a popular movie – “Stupid is as Stupid does!” I recommend it as a title for a movie about the recent activities of the United Nations and the European Union.

I hope the United States will not take a part in paying the current PA government employees salaries. But for all I know the U.S. may have already decided to do so.

Christian Zionist: The ‘Palestinians’ are Hamas

Distinguishing between the terror group and its constituency rubbishes democracy

A leading figure in the International Christian Zionist movement Tuesday took to task those governments that insist on continuing to send millions of Euros in financial aid to the Palestinian Arabs, despite the fact that those Arabs overwhelmingly elected the terrorist group Hamas into power.

Malcolm Hedding, the South African-born director of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), told members of the European Parliament attending a special meeting hosted by the European Coalition for Israel that Europe should not differentiate between people and their democratically elected governments.

“Otherwise, what is democracy?” he asked, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.

“At the end of the day, people have to be responsible for the people they put in power.”

Hedding made his remarks as the United States was debating with the rest of the Quartet on ways to get financial aid to Palestinian Arabs by bypassing the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority.

Reports – which have since been denied by a senior but unnamed official in the Bush administration – indicate that America’s earlier determination to stop all funding to the Palestinian Authority has been eroded. A mechanism is being worked out now by a Quartet committee whereby the needed funds can be channeled to the Palestinian Arabs.

The ludicrousness of this evasion seems to be lost on the power brokers.

Either that, or they insist on purposefully going ahead despite it.

On the one hand the West – specifically the US – has made it a major foreign policy goal to plant democracy in the Islamic Middle East (notwithstanding the fact that Islam and democracy are anathematic to each other).

In line with this, massive international efforts were made to ensure that the Palestinian Arabs held “free and fair” elections this past January.

Under the approving gaze of former-US president Jimmy Carter, a great majority of Israel’s “Palestinian” peace partners “freely and fairly” chose Hamas to head up their government.

Carter even followed up by declaring that the PA elections had been a model of democracy.

But after choosing, overwhelmingly and with eyes wide open, blood-soaked terrorists dedicated to anything but peace as their leaders, the “Palestinians” are paying a steep financial price.

Determined to bail them out despite their open antagonism, the liberal nations of the West have concocted an artificial and transparent distinction between the general “Palestinian” public and those they elected.

Hedding’s refusal to play along with this plot provided context for the venomous words of a senior Hamas religious leader, who on the same day described Christian Zionists as criminals, enemies of the Palestinian Arabs, worshippers of Satan, and one of the greatest threats to world peace.
