The following analysis of what Aluf Benn, Haaretz Correspondent, has presented in his article, leaves little doubt that if the Palestinians don’t hop on board at the Olmert-Bush Terminal,

they will have little to say as to where the final borders will be placed when the wall is completed by 2008. I believe this train is headed for the fulfillment of some prophetic events of earth shaking magnitude, which are likely to begin at some point in time between 2008 and 2012.

ANALYSIS / George Bush Wants the Convergence Plan Too

By Aluf Benn, Haaretz Correspondent

May 24, 2006

For Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, there were many good reasons to be satisfied with his first meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush.

In the press conference that followed their first round of talks, Bush warmly adopted Olmert’s initiatives for an extensive withdrawal in the West Bank, terming them “bold ideas” that “could be an important step” to peace.

The president also pledged that the United States would hasten to Israel’s defense in the event of an attack by Iran, and, no less important to Olmert, stressed the personal relationship between them.

Bush even mentioned the private talks the two were to hold in the residential wing of the White House, without the presence of aides, immediately after the press conference.

If we want to, Bush joked, we might even tell them what we talked about.

For his part, Olmert publicly declared his intention to make every effort to hold peace talks with the Palestinians, and even upgraded Abbas from chairman of the Palestinian Authority to its president.

The prime minister promised to meet with Abbas in the near future, and refrained from reiterating pre-Washington comments in which he dismissed the Palestinian leader as “very weak.”

Olmert’s comments were at first reminiscent of a promise by former prime minister Ehud Barak some seven years ago to leave no stone unturned on the road to peace.

But this time Olmert’s aides were quick to qualify that he was not placing any hope in peace negotiations with Abbas, and that this was ultimately breathing space in which to gird for a unilateral process.

It was clear from Bush and Olmert’s statements that the withdrawal would not determine permanent borders, which would only be set after a final status agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.

Olmert used the phrase “secure borders,” and repeated his promise to append the settlement blocs to Israel. In a letter to Ariel Sharon two years ago, Bush recognized the reality of “existing major Israeli populations centers” in the territories.

In anticipation of the visit, Olmert, his cabinet and the White House had all lowered their respective expectations – effectively convincing the media that Bush’s support for the convergence plan would be lukewarm, and that Iran would be the central topic of the meeting.

These lowered expectations served as an agreeable backdrop for Bush’s supportive statements, fortified by Olmert’s allusion to the fact that Bush had been the first world leader to support former prime minister Ariel Sharon’s disengagement plan.

The two men read the statements prepared by their assistants, but Olmert elaborated during the press conference that followed, saying that he hopes to complete the convergence within three to four years.

This begs the question of what must have gone through Bush’s mind, in light of the fact that he will no longer be president by then.

A Voice of Truth in a Confused Western Wilderness – PLEASE READ

May 23, 2006

Being an analyst, it is second nature for me to be critical of everything I examine, and it is rare for me to ever agree completely with the analysis of someone else on the real problem the United States, Great Britain, Europe and the rest of the non-Muslim governments face today. I may find something later, but having read the article by Assaf Uni, which follows in the Haaretz, I must say I am in complete agreement with his conclusions.

I do not think any of the Western World will adopt what he recommends, and will continue to follow the path of appeasement in dealing with Islam, but it is refreshing to smell the aroma of truth in a politically confused world that refuses to believe we face an extremism that only comprehends force. This is no time for “bleeding hearts” and pacifists to prevail as the majority in the free world. I only hope that terrorists don’t attempt to kill Assaf Uni for telling it like it is! If the non-extreme Muslim majority doesn’t stand up to the terrorists, their offspring will succumb to the terrorist virus, and the Western World will face a terrorist majority in the Islamic faith. In fact, the virus is already in the process of rapidly spreading in the new generation.

We are, in reality, not standing up to the Devil, but bargaining with him for a cooler place in a Middle East Hell!

‘Hamas’ Terror is not a Reaction to the Occupation

By Assaf Uni

May 23, 2006

“Israel’s right to exist is today the international criterion for distinguishing between the terrorist camp and the camp of life,” says Magdi Allam, the Egyptian-Italian journalist and writer who is now visiting Israel.

“On one side, there is the Hamas government, Iran, fundamentalist Islam and even parts of the extreme left and right in Europe.” On the other side, he says, are Western countries and “supporters of the right to live.” The West, he believes, has consistently failed to grasp its situation: It does not understand that it is under attack, and

it is trying to conduct a dialogue with the Muslims attacking it.

Allam, 54 and a native of Egypt, immigrated to It aly

some 30 years ago and studied sociology at La Sapienza University in Rome. Today he is the deputy editor of Corriere della Sera, Italy’s largest newspaper, and is one of the country’s leading journalists.

In a series of books, articles and public appearances, Allam has not hesitated to criticize radical Islam openly. He even attacks the weakness he claims the West in general – and Europe in particular – show in the face of the growth of radical Islam.

“The West thinks the Islamic terrorism that struck New York, London and Madrid is a reaction, a kind of uprising of the poor against the wealthy,” he says in an interview with Haaretz.

According to Allam, the West does not understand that it is facing an organized attack that is gradually gaining supporters around the world. Following September 11, he says, a new and dangerous front has emerged of Muslim radicals and extreme left- and right-wing elements that must be dealt with forcefully.

reverse search

“Denying the right to exist of Israel necessarily leads to approval of the use of violence and terrorism in order to erase Israel from the map,” he notes. “This is the main characteristic of the ‘culture of death’ that advocates killing those who deny Islam.” Allam says there should be a law that stipulates that any statement against Israel’s right to exist – whether made during an imam’s sermon in a mosque or in a press statement – should be deemed a criminal offense.

‘Exceptional journalistic work’

On Sunday, Allam received the Dan David prize for his “exceptional journalistic work and commitment to freedom of the press.” He shared the $1 million prize with three other journalists – Monica Gonzales of Chile (see above article), Adam Michnik of Poland and Goenawan Mohamad of Indonesia. The prizes were awarded at a ceremony, attended by Israeli President Moshe Katsav, at the Tel Aviv University campus. Other prizes were awarded to cellist Yo-Yo Ma and cancer researchers John Mendelsohn and Joseph Schlessinger.

The prize committee, whose members include the head of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the editor of The New Yorker, commended Allam “for continuously voicing his opinion against extremism and in favor of tolerance.” According to the committee, Allam proves that “positive dialogue with moderate Islam is both possible and necessary.”

Allam is using his visit to Israel to lecture,

visit Yad Vashem and present his views to the Israeli public.

“My goal is to free the West from the nihilism that has spread in its midst, from the lack of values that leads to the growth of radical Islam,” says Allam. “In the face of the threat from radical Islam, the West must be united and formulate a shared value system that sanctifies life and denounces the right to kill.”

Therefore, he says, there should be sharp criticism of those who argue that the terrorism in Israel and Iraq is legitimate because it is being committed against occupation and in the name of independence. “Whoever says that supports a culture of death,” Allam argues. “It may perhaps start with a show of some understanding, but will quickly spread to granting permission to destroy anyone who is not Muslim.”

Allam is against any attempt at dialogue with the Hamas government.

“I oppose any middle way,” he says. “I oppose any type of dialogue just for the sake of

dialogue. Hamas is part of the global Islamic front.

They have simply been trying, ever since the signing of the Oslo Accords, to destroy every effort to achieve peace.”

Failed integration

Allam’s remarks against Hamas in recent years have brought death threats from the organization and require Allam to have bodyguards at all times. But the Palestinian organization is not the only one threatening his life – his criticism of imams and Muslim preachers in Europe has sparked rage in Muslim communities there as well.

“The integration of Muslim immigrants in Europe has failed,” Allam says. “The multicultural model that was tried in Britain and Holland led to the creation of Islamic ghettos; the governments that thought granting freedom to their citizens would turn it into a shared value were mistaken. Many Muslims saw freedom as a green light to enforce Islamic law and create their own society within a society.”

The French model of assimilation also failed, he says, and the Muslims in the suburbs of the large French cities do not see themselves as citizens of the Republic.

One of the events that illustrated integration’s failure, Allam believes, is the Mohammed cartoon affair.

body bro good levitra stuff up whats yea yea

This made it possible “to draw the battle lines” between those who advocate Islamic law and citizens of the West – and the picture that emerged, he says, is not encouraging. “Most European governments chose to denounce the publication of the drawings,” he says, “and this was a big mistake.” This February, Allam published an open letter supporting the right of European newspapers to publish the drawings of the prophet in the name of freedom of expression.

Integration will have a chance only if the European countries change their approach, he says.

“There is an Italian saying, ‘Every nation receives the government it deserves.’ Along the same lines, it may be said, ‘Every state in Europe receives the immigrant community it deserves.'” According to him, the governments must act forcefully against some immigrant groups to make it clear that the laws of the state are above the laws of religion.

“There is no one single way to be Muslim,” he says, “there is also no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ Islam. We have the freedom to interpret Islam any way we like. When I grew up in Egypt in the 1960s, Islam was completely different – girls walked around in miniskirts and guys were listening to the Beatles. It’s a mistake to say that if you’re a Muslim in Europe you h

ave to grow a beard, go to the mosque and wear a galabiya. It’s a stereotype that was imposed by Muslim extremists.”

On the future of the integration of Muslim immigrants in Italy, Allam says he is disappointed by the election of Romano Prodi’s new center-left government.

“They are promising to be ‘softer’ on the matter of immigration laws, to bring back the soldiers from Iraq and to consider negotiations with Hamas,” he says. “This only proves that Italy is going in the opposite direction compared to the rest of the world in dealing with immigration, which will lead to a deterioration of the situation.”

He says he hopes that the government does not last long. Then perhaps he may enter politics.

This coming June, his latest book, entitled “I Love Italy – But Do the Italians Love It?” will hit the stores in his country. The Italian journalist, it seems, is positioning himself as someone who knows exactly what the country needs to forge a national identity that will prevent Muslim youths from turning to religious extremism. “In my book, I suggest setting up a ministry to address the matter of immigration and to create a national identity,” he says. “In my vision, I see Italy as a picture framed by justice and law. In the center I see different communities that share a unified Italian national identity.”

“However,” he adds, “I don’t think a government ministry of this type is possible these days.”

TO DO IT, OR NOT TO DO IT, THAT IS THE QUESTION!

May 23, 2006

http://www.tribulationperiod.com/

I do not know the answer to the question, but I do agree with the title of the Jerusalem Post Article which follows: “Time running out to take Action on Iran,” and suggest that it may already have run out. Russia and China would throw a fit if we, or the Israelis, knocked out Iranian nuclear facilities, and it could start another cold war. The European Union would scream publicly louder than China and Russia, but would really be rejoicing internally we had saved their hides from Iranian nuclear missile threats, and in so doing took the heat off them by being the big bully to the rest of the international community.

He commended the work of the United States Ambassador to the UN John Bolton for his support of Israel.

The EU Incentives Proposal for Iran Is Rife with Hidden Dangers

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

May 20, 2006, 2:38 PM (GMT+02:00)

US undersecretary of state Nicholas Burns was being polite when he said Friday, May 19, that Washington was still looking at the European proposal of incentives, and promised to deliver the US response at the next US meeting with European negotiators in London this coming Thursday.

after clomid

He was referring to the EU proposal to persuade Iran to abandon uranium enrichment, the heavy water plant under construction at Arak and its ambitious nuclear “research” projects. These concessions would assure the world that Tehran was not pursuing nuclear weapons.

But the package has already been repeatedly rejected by Iran, dismissed as “nuts and chocolates for gold.”

According to DEBKAfile’s sources in the US capital, Washington also finds it unacceptable and has informed the Europeans that their package poses more dangers – even than the consortium Moscow proposes for a joint venture to enrich uranium up to low levels in Russia.

The Bush administration acc uses

the Europeans of going behind America’s back to assemble an apparently innocuous proposal which is rife with hidden dangers.

In the first place, not one, but several light water reactors are on offer. In the second, Iran will get an almost unlimited supply of fuel rods containing enriched uranium (up to 60%) for powering these reactors.

nolvadex tablets

Furthermore, the spent fuel contains fission products and plutonium which has military uses.

map 2 of phone lookup

To tempt the Bush administration to endorse the deal, DEBKAfile’s American sources report the Europeans have topped it up with a perk which is presented as a huge bonanza for the US treasury: the sale to Iran of hundreds of new American passenger planes to restore its decrepit airline fleet.

However, Washington has not swallowed the bait. The economic incentives on offer to Iran are deemed generous enough.

According to our sources, they include a massive financial-technological shot in the arm to bring Iran’s oil industry up to date.

The 27-year American embargo, in effect since the Islamic revolution, has left Iran way behind the times in oil production technology.

Because of obsolete equipment, its wells are under-exploited and spillage is extensive. The Iranians cannot execute deep drillings, develop new fields or construct modern pipeline networks.

In return for giving up their clandestine nuclear ambitions, Tehran is now being offered, with US assent, the most advanced oil production technology available in the world.

The Bush administration has even agreed to complement the Iranian fuel cycle – as long as enrichment is kept to low levels and the process is transparent, meaning wholly accessible to international inspections, including snap visits.

US objections to the incentive plan restructured by the Europeans center on three points:

1. It undoes Washington’s achievement in persuading Moscow to drag its feet on completing the Bushehr reactor until Iran signs a guarantee to return the spent fuel rods to Russia. This, Tehran has so far not done; the European offer would let the mullahs off the hook and nullify the Washington-Moscow accord.

female viagra

2. With the most advanced French and German uranium enrichment technologies in hand to power the light water reactors, there would be nothing to stop Iran racing ahead to overcome present difficulties and produce weapons-grade fuel in quantity.

3. The EU-Iran negotiating base ahead of formal negotiations is too high. Tehran will no doubt squeeze more concessions from the Europeans before they end.

As matters stand now, Washington’s dialogue with the Europeans appears to be a lot tougher than its undercover talks with the Iranians.
