TO DO IT, OR NOT TO DO IT, THAT IS THE QUESTION!

I do not know the answer to the question, but I do agree with the title of the Jerusalem Post Article which follows: “Time running out to take Action on Iran,” and suggest that it may already have run out. Russia and China would throw a fit if we, or the Israelis, knocked out Iranian nuclear facilities, and it could start another cold war. The European Union would scream publicly louder than China and Russia, but would really be rejoicing internally we had saved their hides from Iranian nuclear missile threats, and in so doing took the heat off them by being the big bully to the rest of the international community.
I am by no me ans certain if
an attempt to knock out the Iranian nuclear facilities will be made.
In fact, I rather doubt it will, but I have not made much of an effort to make an analytical guess, because whether or
not Iran gets, or does not get a nuclear bomb, is not going to change the Middle East situation.
If they were to develop one, they would not use it in a missile launched at Israel, Europe, or the United States, because it would justify any one of them removing Iran from the world map, and Iran is well aware of that fact.
The two articles which follow give the latest prospective of to do, or not to do, in this Middle East Scenario.

Gillerman: Time running out to take Action on Iran
JPost.com Staff, THE JERUSALEM POST
May 23, 2006
Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Danny Gillerman told the Jewish organization Bnei Brith that Iran was just a few months away from having the capability to develop nuclear weapons, and hence, the international community’s opportunity to act on the matter was running out.
He commended the work of the United States Ambassador to the UN John Bolton for his support of Israel.
On the other hand, he condemned Russia and China, who he claimed have been preventing the United Nations’ Security Council from reaching any decisions on Iran, Army Radio reported.

DEBKAfile reports: Bush is expected to offer the mighty BIG-BLU bunker buster bomb to Israel and Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia
May 22, 2006, 9:11 PM (GMT+02:00)
The intention is to arm US allies with a deterrent against Iran by sharing with them the means for striking the Islamic Republic’s underground nuclear installations. This Massive Ordnance Penetrator – MOP – known as BIG-BLU – weighs in at 13,600 kilos and can destroy 25% of its targets in bunkers buried beneath 60 meters of reinforced concrete, a depth greater than any other bomb of its type.
DEBKAfile’s military sources note that this bomb in Saudi hands will also serve the oil kingdom as a deterrent against Israel’s atomic weapons program. In this way, the Bush administration demonstrates it is not solely targeting the military weapons activities of Muslim nations. The bunker busters will no doubt come with strings attached with regard to their use.
Israeli prime minister Olmert, who is due at the White House Tuesday, said he hoped Bush “will lead other nations in taking the necessary measures to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power.”
DEBKAfile’s Washington’s sources say the Bush administration has little faith in other nations, especially the Europeans, acting to stop Iran, and has embarked on preparations for action on its own initiative.
In these circumstances, Israeli ambivalence would be the preferred public stance rather than explicit dependence on Washington.
