Army: New Gaza Fence is Formidable Barrier

Remote control machine guns, robotic jeeps, a double fence, ditches and pillboxes along with digitally-linked commanders are all part of the IDF’s new 60-kilometer layered protection around the Gaza Strip.

Built at a cost of over NIS 1 billion over the past 15 months, it promises to be one of the most formidable barriers in the world.

Beyond the double fences, the IDF intends to keep a low profile, substituting a string of fortresses with highly mobile units and hidden patrols. Decoys may also be

used.

“What we want is to make sure that there is no routine,” said a senior officer.

“We don’t want to just throw troops on the fence but use our modern technology and be flexible.”

Israel considers the new line an international border according to the Oslo agreement. That agreement bars the Palestinians from building anything within 100 meters and the nearest non-public building must be at least 500 meters from the fence.

But since this was a unilateral withdrawal it is not clear whether these conditions will hold.

The fear in the IDF is that the Palestinians will build high-rise apartments on the border that can be used to snipe at Israelis.

The army has set up a large swath of land around the Strip for placing barbed wire coils, an electronic fence, and two patrol roads named Hoovers Alef and Hoovers Bet. There will also be a third patrol road a few hundred meters from the fence.

All the land was “purchased” from the border settlements by the Defense Ministry. The army said it would allow farmers to work some of the land if possible.

Besides the barriers, the army has relocated over 50 cement pillboxes from their location inside the Gaza Strip to the new border. Some of these will be equipped with 50-cali

The IDF expected the border with Egypt just south of the Gaza Strip to be the focus

of increased smuggling attempts so it was also continuing this barrier for about 10 km.

Without the Jewish settlements to protect, the Gaza Division will be reducing its battle order from 10 to just five battalions. These will be split into two brigades instead of three. The northern brigade will be temporarily housed near Nahal Oz and the southern brigade near Kerem Shalom. The new divisional headquarters will also be temporarily housed near Urim.

But the IDF is building a huge modern divisional headquarters on the grounds where the massive tent camp was erected near Re’im. Today that area – where over 10,000 troops were housed during the disengagement – has been cleared and tractors are at work. The IDF is also building five camps around the Gaza Strip to house the troops patrolling the coastal zone.

The army is also involved with the protection of the communities around the Gaza Strip. By the end of the year all of the border kibbutzim and moshavim near the fence will have the Red Dawn Kassam warning system. So far some NIS 80 million has been spent on security rooms in these settlements to give them passive protection from rockets and mortars.

The IDF is also taking into account that the Palestinians may try to dig tunnels under the fence, but would not elaborate on steps it was taking to thwart such action.

Senior officers said that they used examples from the US border with Mexico as well as experience along the Lebanon border in drawing up the plans to defend the border around the Gaza Strip.

The small earthquake that occurred yesterday in the Jordan valley is just a small prelude to the great earthquakes that are prophesied to occur in the latter portion of the future tribulation period.

Earthquakes have been occurr ing

in the Jordan valley since Hector was a pup from small to great in intensity.

But the ones that are coming will be much greater than the one felt in the days of King Uzziah.

Zechariah 14:5 – And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

Haggai 2:6,7 – For thus saith the Lord of hosts;

Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; [7] And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.

Ezekiel 38:19,20 – For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; [20] So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

An earthquake was felt in the Jordan Valley and near Tel Aviv Wednesday around noon.

The earthquake measured 3.7 on the Richter scale.

No injuries or damage were reported.

their associated terrorist groups.

I am not opposed to the Palestinians receiving aid. I am only making the point we should expect only biting words in return.

The Palestinians will only be satisfied when there is no homeland for the Jewish people in the Middle East. My summation follows the article.

PA GETS 50 MILLION IN AID, THEN INCITES AGAINST U.S.

A report published by Palestinian Media Watch revealed that after having signed a deal with the US for $50 million to help with housing and infrastructure, Palestinian Authority officials called to launch attacks against US soldiers and portrayed the US as “an enemy.”

PMW noted that in recent days PA religious officials in radio and television sermons described the US as “the most heretic” among countries and as an enemy who is trying to dismantle the Islamic world.

One of the officials called to intensify terror acts against US soldiers in the presence of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

One was broadcast on PA television and in the presence of Abbas and Yusuf Jum’a Salameh, the PA minister of the Wakf and Religious Affairs: “We say to the dear, heroic Iraqi nation, turn this incident [the accidental death of 1,000 Iraqis] into an opportunity for resisting the [American] occupation, for uniting families, for unifying the forces and for opposition to the policy of dismantling Iraq and dividing it geographically.”

On PA radio, Aksa Mosque Imam Ysuef Abu Sneina said “Anyone who watches closely the nature of our world today, can see that the heretical countries – first and foremost, the USA – have succeeded greatly in tearing our Islamic world apart by disintegrating and splitting up more than one Islamic state, intending to weaken it, disperse [its citizens] and plunder its resources It is terrorism, and there’s no choice but to fight it.

“As regards Iraq, there is much to say about it.

The USA has composed a draft of the Iraqi Constitution in a way that it will serve US interests and enhance the disintegration of Iraq’s unity. The new constitution includes federal solutions, which are dividing Iraq into small countries…

“A federal government hides behind it; the seeds of a future civil war… The USA is planning to rule Saudi Arabia and disintegrate it, too, despite the close friendly relations between the two countries…
“Is the USA going to fulfill its ambitions and aggressive plans

? And, for how long shall the submission and surrender to the plans of the enemies of the [Islamic] nation?”

Give aid to help the Palestinians rebuild its infrastructure – FINE – even though most of it will end up in the hands of corrupt Palestinian officials – that is to be expected. Help the Palestinians to feed and take care of their poor – FINE – but simply understand that most of it will not reach the man-in-the-street, and some will fund rockets to be fired at Israel.

All of this is understood, and I am certainly not opposed to giving aid to the Palestinians. But please, don’t tie Israel’s hands by asking them to do what we would not do if we were in their place.

Let them keep as much of the land that God granted them as they are able to keep without us putting pressure on them to give back more.

THE ARABS WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED!

The Palestinian Authority and the rest of Islam will never be satisfied until the Jews are pushed out of the Holy Land. A false peace is coming, and the PA, along with all its associated terror groups, will become a state within a state, but they will never be satisfied with just the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The false peace will end with Israel being pushed out of all the land from Dan to Beersheba by a vicious surprise Jihad of 10 Arab nations from without, and the Palestinians from within. But even having Israel in the Negev Wilderness from Beersheba to Eilat, will not satisfy them. And three and one-half years after they drive Israel into the Negev, they will call all nations together to finally eliminate Israel, and their attack will culminate in the battle of Armageddon.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein

shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Revelation 16:16 – And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

The following extract from a lengthy article by Gershon Baskin in the Jerusalem Post issue of September 6, 2005, gives an indication of the very obvious façade of the Palestinians ever being satisfied with the land they receive, even though they say they will before it is given.

Israel is intent on declaring the end of its occupation over Gaza and, therefore, agreements reached will be based on Israel’s desire to reach agreed-upon limitations to Palestinian sovereignty on issues mainly concerning the entrance of goods to Gaza.

Assuming that the agreements reached are satisfactory to the Palestinian Authority, there will be a need to determine who actually holds sovereignty over Gaza. In what seems to be an attempt to postpone that judgment, the Palestinians have now raised a new issue concerning the demarcation of Gaza’s northern border. They are claiming that the Green Line set in the Rhodes armistice agreement of 1949 set the “border” north of Erez at Nahal Shikma.

The Palestinians have apparently forgotten that in January 1950 Israel and Egypt agreed on a land swap that enlarged the Gaza Strip at A’basan, between Khan Yunis and Rafah, while setting the northern border further south at Erez.

This was the official line on June 4, 1967 before

the Six Day War and the lines that UN Security Council Resolution 242 obligates Israel to withdraw to.

By raising this issue now it seems that the Palestinians are attempting to find a reason not to claim sovereignty over Gaza.

Palestinian sovereignty over Gaza would place the PA in a position that it does not yet know how to digest.

If the Palestinians hold sovereignty over Gaza would a P

alestinian state in fact come into existence in Gaza

? If yes, then in that respect we will find ourselves entering Phase II of the road map – a Palestinian state with provisional borders.

The concept of a state with provisional borders has been rejected by the Palestinian leadership claiming that this will essentially be the fulfillment of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s long-standing idea of a long-term interim agreement. The Palestinians reject the idea of another interim agreement, fearing it might take decades before permanent status is arrived at and the important issues of final borders, Jerusalem and refugees are resolved.

The Palestinians, however, may find themselves in a situation where accepting the state with provisional borders is inescapable as the reality on the ground may overtake political wishes.

PREVIEW OF REVELATION ATTRACTIONS!

John 11:53,54 – Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death. [54] Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

This city called Ephraim is known as Taiba,

and is the only West Bank village that is entirely inhabited by Catholics. It lies just east of the city

of Ramallah, where Yassar Arafat was positioned for so long before his demise. In Arabic, according to the article which follows, Taiba means “nice and kind.”

I strongly suspect what you will read about in the Jerusalem Post article that follows, is a preview of what will happen to Catholic churches across the Islamic territories during the last few years in the tribulation period. At the time that John wrote the book of Revelation, the great city of Rome ruled the known world, and John identified it as the city representing the woman.

MUSLIMS RAMSACK CHRISTIAN VILLAGE

Efforts were under way on Sunday to calm the situation in this Christian village east of Ramallah after an attack by hundreds of Muslim men from nearby villages left many houses and vehicles torched.

The incident began on Saturday night and lasted until early Sunday, when Palestinian Authority security forces interfered to disperse the attackers. Residents said several houses were looted and many families were forced to flee to Ramallah and other Christian villages, although no one was injured.

The attack on the village of 1,500 was triggered by the murder

of a Muslim woman from the nearby village of Deir Jarir earlier this week. The 30-year-old woman, according to PA security sources, was apparently murdered by members of her family for having had a romance with a Christian man from Taiba.

“When her family discovered that she had been involved in a forbidden relationship with a Christian, they apparently forced her to drink poison,” said one source. “Then they buried her without reporting her death to the relevant authorities.”

When the PA security forces decided to launch an investigation into the woman’s death, her family protested for fear that the relationship would be exposed. The family was further infuriated by the decision to exhume the body for autopsy.

The attack is one of the worst against Christians in the West Bank in many years. Residents said it took the PA security forces several hours to reach Taiba. Others complained that the IDF, which is in charge of overall security in the area, did not answer their desperate calls for immediate help.

“More than 500 Muslim men, chanting Allahu akbar [God is great], attacked us at night,” said a Taiba resident.

“They poured kerosene on many buildings and set them on fire.

Many of the attackers broke into houses and stole furniture, jewelry and electrical appliances.”

With the exception of large numbers of PA policemen, the streets of Taiba were completely deserted on Sunday as the residents remained indoors. Many torched cars littered the streets.

At least 16 houses had been gutted by fire and the assailants also destroyed a statue of the Virgin Mary.

“It was like a war, they arrived in groups, and many of them were holding clubs,” said another resident.

“Some people saw them carrying weapons.

They first attacked houses belonging to the Khoury family [looking for the man who had the affair with the women, not realizing he had already fled the village.] Then they went to their relatives. They entered the houses and destroyed everything there. Then they tried to enter the local beer factory, but were repelled by PA security agents.

The fire engine arrived five hours later.”

Col. Tayseer Mansour, commander of the PA police in the Ramallah area, said his men arrived late because of the need to coordinate their movements with the IDF. “The delay resulted in the torching of a number of houses and cars in the village,” he said.

Taiba, the only West Bank village that is completely inhabited by Christians, is famous for its Taiba Beer factory, which was established by the Khoury family in 1994.

The residents are Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox or Greek Catholic.

The village was originally called Ephraim, and is thought to be the city to which Jesus came with his disciples before his crucifixion: “Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim” (John 11:54).

According to some accounts, Salah a-Din, who led the war against the Crusaders, was responsible for the name change. He is said to have found the villagers there to be nice and kind – in Arabic, taybeen – and the name stuck, to become Taiba.

To the Arabs, all non-Islamics are looked upon as Crusaders today. It is true especially of those in their land from the western world.

They are waiting for another Salah a-Din to arise and drive all non-Islamics from their world in a great Jihad. I do not think they have long to wait.
