A man trapped in Kocho, a village on the south side of the Sinjar Mountain

The international community must urgently mount a concerted humanitarian response to assist hundreds of thousands of people across northern Iraq fleeing ethnic cleansing by the forces of the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS or IS), Amnesty International said today.

“Those trapped on Sinjar Mountain make up a tiny percentage of the hundreds of thousands from minority communities displaced by the conflict, now stranded in dire conditions,” said Donatella Rovera, Amnesty International’s Senior Crisis Response Adviser, speaking from northern Iraq.

“These people cannot go home as long as ISIS controls their towns and villages. They need help now.”

The international response to large scale displacement of civilians from areas seized by ISIS has been woefully inadequate to date. Even much publicized emergency air-drops to members of the Yezidi community stranded in villages on the Sinjar Mountain surrounded by ISIS militants have proved largely ineffective.

“We have nothing, nothing has come to us,” a man trapped in Kocho, a village on the south side of the Sinjar Mountain, told Amnesty International.

“We hear the planes in the distance but nobody has come to us or sent us anything.

We can’t leave. ISIS will catch us and kill us if we do. For god’s sake, please help us”.

Hundreds of survivors from the mountain and many still stuck there told Amnesty International said that no aid had reached them and many said water bottles air-dropped in recent days often broke on impact.

The aid effort also came late – after many had already managed to escape with the help of Syrian Kurdish fighters who opened a safe passage on the north-western side of the mountain, close to the Syrian border.

“The Iraqi central government, the Kurdish Regional Government, donor countries and international agencies must take concerted action to provide safe shelter and humanitarian assistance to men, women and children of all backgrounds forced to flee in the face of such ferocious brutality,” said Donatella Rovera.

ISIS has mounted systematic attacks on minority communities in northern Iraq, including Turkemen and Shabak Shi’a communities as well as Christians and Yezidis, aiming to drive non-Sunni populations from the areas under their control.

“ISIS has given minority communities an unambiguous message – convert, leave or die. This is ethnic cleansing,” Donatella Rovera said.

“Survivors have told me how their male relatives were rounded up and executed and the women and children in their families abducted. A number of families from one of Iraq’s minorities, still living under ISIS rule, have told me they were recently forced to convert to Islam and are not able to leave the area.”

Meanwhile, with US air strikes now hitting ISIS positions and a likely further escalation of air attacks on ISIS targets by US and Iraqi forces, Muslim Sunni civilians living in ISIS controlled areas fear for their safety.

“Millions of Sunni Muslims are still living in ISIS-controlled areas – and not necessarily by choice,” said Donatella Rovera.

“Several have already been killed in Iraqi air force strikes on these areas. Just last week a lecturer from Mosul University, his wife and their four young children were all killed in one such attack. Similar incidents have been repeated across of the country.

“All forces operating in the area must at all times distinguish between military objectives and civilians; attacks can only be directed at military targets. Indiscriminate attacks are prohibited under international law.”

This means that we are in for many additional generations of Arab collective suicide, and let none of them argue later on that they did not know. There is no answer, apart from the self-collision instinct, as usual.

The results of the current crisis were known in advance: Israel found a solution for the rockets, handled the tunnels and taught the shocked Gazans a lesson for many years to come. So what did they commit suicide for?

And as for the future, neither Israel nor Egypt will accept Hamas’ illusions, as this organization is interested in establishing a dangerous ISIS-style Islamic caliphate here, and no civilized country can accept that. Similarly, neither Israel nor Jordan will accept the illusions of the “Palestinian authority” taking over territories, as this means an existential threat to the stability in the region.

In other words, these are gangs, some of which disguise themselves as political entities and try to impose their murderous rule. They may have managed to deceive part of the naïve West, which is facing the same threat, but aren’t deceiving us.

What the leaders of these gangs are left with is a quarrel over the trophy: The billions of the “reconstruction.” Not a single “refugee” has been rehabilitated until today, neither in the West Bank nor in Gaza, despite some $15 billion in donations – and maybe even more – since 1992.

So where is that money? Most of it has been stolen by the gang leaders, who have become millionaires. Since Europe has reduced its financial aid to the Strip, and Hamas’ “independent” income has been disrupted by the closing of supply tunnels from Egypt, the Palestinians launched a war aimed at returning the funds. And the funds may still return, when the Gulf states and the Europeans, who are terrified by what is happening over there, open their purses once again. But what will the common resident get out of it? Absolutely nothing.

It’s time for the world to realize that we are dealing with a destructive budget-devouring element, which is incapable of funding itself, which will always live at other people’s expense, and which makes a living off the conflict. Why if there were no “conflict,” it wouldn’t have any money.

Any sum donated to the “reconstruction” through the leadership of Hamas, Fatah, the Islamic Jihad and the rest of the gangs will directly contribute to deepening the conflict and hostility and to the collective collision tradition.

Most of the money will not go to the population’s “reconstruction,” but will be used to prepare the next stages of the collision. Not to the “Palestinians,” but to the “Palestinian problem”; not to a calm, but to incitement. We can already say to the Palestinians: See you in your next suicide.

To many preachers, pastors, teachers, and Bible expositors this is a very simple question! And they seem startled that I would even pose such a stupid question.

The answer that I normally receive runs something like this: Brother, when God’s Word says “the whole world” it means “the whole world,” and when it says “all the earth” it means “all the earth.” What’s the matter with you, don’t you believe God’s Holy Book? When God delivered His Word to the writers of the Old and New Testaments, expressions like “the whole world, all the earth, and wherever men dwell,” meant the known world of that day. So how can we be so all fired certain that we have been given God’s authority to enlarge its definition with the passage of time? Of course, there is no question that God, who made earth, knew its size from the beginning, but where did we get the authority to change the meaning of the way He meant to be understood in the minds of those to whom he initially wrote it? For better or for worse, I believe modern day expositors have made a serious mistake in expanding the size of the antichrist’s empire as world exploration kept increasing the size of the earth. I previously laid out a case to prove my point linguistically as to how God uses expressions throughout his Word that some think mean the whole world as we know it today, but it reality do not by his use of the hyperbole. As each new continent, each new land mass, each new island, and each new ice burg was located by exploration, we changed the original meaning of the Scriptures to fit the ever expanding size of the world. I do not believe we were justified in doing this, and that because we have done it, we have expanded the antichrist’s empire into one that rules all men from Pole to Pole and around a 360-degree girth of longitude. We are now looking for an antichrist that will rule all the men on this present earth. As a result of this looking for such a man, we are not going to recognize the true antichrist when he does come on the scene. He will not dominate all the world as we know it today. He will dominate the world that was in existence through the period of Daniel’s four beasts.

Revelation 13:2 – And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

John is looking back some 700 years in time to Daniel’s four beasts, of which three, in Daniel’s day, were still future. John is writing in the days of Daniel’s fourth beast. The first beast of Daniel, the Babylonian Lion Empire, was crushed by the Medo-Persian Bear Empire, which was conquered by the Macedonian Leopard Empire, only to suffer the same fate by Daniel’s fourth Roman Empire beast. The last evil empire on this planet will be that of the antichrist. His empire will take in all the territory covered during the expansions of the four beast empires. When the antichrist first attacks Israel he will lead 10 Islamic nations, which were all occupied at times by the old Roman Empire. I believe the most likely candidates are Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and the PA. After the antichrist conquers Egypt (Daniel 11:43,44), then Jordan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and all the other Islamic nations to the borders of India, will quickly accept him as their ruler. Within months Europe will come under his dominating influence. I fully expect him to rule all the land occupied by the four beasts during their maximum expansions, but I do not believe he will dominate the western hemisphere nations.

USE OF THE HYPERBOLE IN PROPHECY

NONE OF THE FOLLOWING EMPIRES OF THE OLD TESTAMENT EVER DOMINATED WHAT WE IDENTIFY AS THE NEW WORLD OF TODAY.

Daniel 8:5,21,22 – And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west ON THE FACE OF THE WHOLE EARTH, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. [21] And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. [22] Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

Daniel 2:32-34,38,39 – This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, [33] His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. [34] Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. THE FOLLOWING KINGDOMS, THAT PERSECUTED AND/OR AFFECTED ISRAEL IN THE OLD WORLD, FROM THE EGYPT EMPIRE TO UMAYYAD CALIPHATE, WERE THE EGYPTIAN, ASSYRIAN, BABYLONIAN, PERSIAN, MACEDONIAN, ROMAN, AND THE ISLAMIC. IT IS INDISPUTABLE THAT NONE OF THESE KINGDOMS DOMINATED THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT TODAY. IN FACT THEY DID NOT COMPLETELY OCCUPY ALL OF THE KNOWN WORLD HISTORICALLY KNOWN AT THE TIME THEY WROTE. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THE HYPERBLE IS USED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT IN MANY SCRIPTURES.

AS A “GENERAL RULE” IN PROPHETIC TEACHING, WHEN WE SEE THE
TERM “UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN” USED IN PROPHECY, IT REFERS TO THE EARTH AS WE KNOW IT TODAY, BUT WHEN “THE WHOLE EARTH” IS USED IN PROPHECY IT MEANS THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWN AT THE TIME IT WAS WRITTEN.

Daniel 7:3,23-27,11-14 – And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. [23] Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour THE WHOLE EARTH, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. I BELIEVE THE SCRIPTURES WHICH FOLLOW CONTAIN HYPERBOLE THAT MEAN THE KNOWN WORLD OF JOHN’S DAY, NOT ALL THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT TODAY.

Revelation 13:1,2,5-12,16,17 – And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. [2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. [5] And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. [6] And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. [7] And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over ALL kindreds, and tongues, and nations. [8] And ALL THAT DWELL UPON THE EARTH shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. [9] If any man have an ear, let him hear. [10] He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. [11] And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. [12] And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth THE EARTH AND THEM WHICH DWELL THEREIN to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. [16] And he causeth ALL, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: [17] And that NO man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 17:12-18 – And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. [14] These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. [15] And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. [16] And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. [17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. [18] And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over THE KINGS OF THE EARTH.

AS INDICATED PREVIOUSLY, SCRIPTURES THAT USE THE HEAVENS TO DESCRIBE THE AREA OF THE EARTH INTENDED TO BE CONVEYED TO US, MEAN THE WHOLE EARTH AS WE PRESENTLY KNOW IT. THESE THREE SCRIPTURES WHICH FOLLOW ARE OF THAT TYPE:

Daniel 7:27 + Matthew 24:31 + Mark 13:27 – And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. [31] And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, FROM ONE END OF HEAVEN TO THE OTHER. [27] And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the UTTERMOST PART OF THE EARTH TO THE UTTER-MOST PART OF HEAVEN.

BUT THE FOLLOWING FOUR SCRIPTURES MEAN THE WORLD AS IT WAS KNOWN WHEN JOHN WROTE THE BOOK OF REVELATION.

Romans 1:8 + Colossians 1:5,6 + Acts 19:27 + 24:5 – First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE WORLD. [5] For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; [6] Which is come unto you, as it is IN ALL THE WORLD; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: [27] So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom ALL ASIA AND THE WORLD WORSHIPPETH. [5] For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

Revelation 12:9,17 – [And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth THE WHOLE WORLD: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. [17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Daniel 2:39-44 – And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule OVER ALL THE EARTH. [40] And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. [41] And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be DIVIDED; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. [42] And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be PARTLY strong, and PARTLY broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall MINGLE themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not CLEAVE one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. [44] And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The conclusions that I draw from all these Scriptures is as follows:

* The Antichrist will only dominate the known world of John’s day. His Caliphate will not hold together very long because of its composition of clay and iron nations that don’t hold together well.

* When an expression is used referring to the size of his Caliphate in the book of Revelation it is used as a hyperbole, and does not refer to all the world as we know it today.

* I do believe it will be put on in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and parts of Asia.

I am certainly prepared to be wrong in my belief in the size of his empire and in the degree of his domination. In other words, I know the popular teachings of many men and women on this subject, and I am prepared for their antichrist, but are they prepared for mine?

As the Arab world convulses, much of the American discussion is focused on whom we should help, whom we should help topple, how much it will cost, how will it affect our already-taxed military personnel, and whether our leaders in Washington have any kind of plan for dealing with the changing regimes and allegiances — all valid issues.

But a wider view of the changes shows that the ouster of rulers in Tunisia and Egypt, the possible fall of Gadhafi in Libya and Saleh in Yemen, and the upheaval in Bahrain and even Syria, could create a climate for a move to restore an Islamic Caliphate — a political union of Muslims under one ruler, a Caliph.

The Islamic world has been without a Caliph since the secular leader of Turkey, Kemal Ataturk, banished the Ottoman Caliphate in 1924 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in World War 1. But a Caliphate is the historical norm, a Caliph having ruled over Muslims for most of the time since Muhammad’s disciples instituted it in the 7th century.

The fact that a defeat by the “infidel” powers of the West-Christians-led to the end of the last Caliphate, is a sore that festers throughout the Arab nations and the wider Muslim community.

Countless numbers have believed the Seed would come after Adam and Eve were driven out of the Garden of Eve. Adam and Eve were waiting for the promised seed. After their third seed Seth was born, and had fathered his first son Enos, it was apparent to them the Promised Seed was somewhere in the future. So, when Enos came into the world, believers began to call on the Lord. Who is this Lord of Lords that believers still call on today? Isaiah tells us of the Seed’s many names, and Luke reveals his New Testament name Jesus before he was born in Bethlehem as the Son of God.

Genesis 3:15,21 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her SEED; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. [21] Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Genesis 4:25,26 – And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another SEED instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. [26] And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: THEN BEGAN MEN TO CALL UPON THEN BEGAN MEN TO CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD.

Isaiah 9:6,7 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. [7] Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Luke 1:26-33 – And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, [27] To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. [28] And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. [29] And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. [30] And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. [31] And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. [32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: [33] And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

MAN WILL STILL BE CALLING ON THE LORD IN TRIBULATION

Acts 2:19-21 – And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: [20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: [21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Luke 21:9 was fulfilled in days of the New Testament Churches when wars and rumors of war began to break down the outer peripheries of a Roman Empire that eventually split into two western and eastern divisions.

Luke 21:10, when the fantastic numerical increase of new nation began after World Wars I and 2, one new nation after another rose up one on top of each other. It led to the League of Nations and eventually the United Nations.

Luke 21:11 will be fulfilled in our last generation in the Tribulation Period.

Luke 21:12-19 was historically fulfilled during the times of the Apostles and New Testament Churches.

In parts 1 through 4, an exposition was given that covered Mark 13:1-8, Matthew 24:1-8, and Luke 21:5-17. Part 4 completed Luke 21:12-17 as an answer to the first of three questions the disciples asked Jesus, which are found in Matthew 24:3, the first question being, “when shall these things be?” They wanted to know what signs would be occurring from that time until the temple was leveled.

Matthew 24:3 – And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Part 4 ended with Luke 21:17, so Part 5 will continue to answer this first question, beginning with Luke 21:18, which we know cannot be referring to physical hair, because of Luke 21:16. Even physical hair eventually rots and perishes when a person dies, and in in Luke 21:16 he tells them some of his followers are going to die for their testimony and belief in him, but immediately thereafter in 21:18 he tells them “But there shall not an hair of your head perish.”

If some of them were to be put to death, then Luke 21:18 must refer to an application of the maintenance of their spiritual being.

Luke 21:18 – But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

After having advised the disciples of all the trials and tribulations they were going to experience before the temple was leveled in 21:12-17, he then assures them they will not be separated from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. Even the smallest part of each one of them would forever be preserved, even down to their hair follicles.

Romans 8:36-39 – As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. [37] Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. [38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

He had advised them earlier not to be afraid of those who could kill their bodies, but to fear God who was the keeper of their souls. He also told them that they were much more valuable than the smallest of creatures offered in temple sacrifices, the sparrow. And since he kept track of even the smallest sacrifice offered they, being more valuable, would have their souls preserved through all tribulations by his power. And, even if they suffered physical death, not one spiritual hair of their being would ever be forgotten or forsaken.

Luke 12:4-8 – I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. [5] But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. [6] Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? [7] But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. [8] Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

All but Judas had repented of their sins, and confessed him as Messiah, so he assured them that not one of them, who would go through this time of great testing, would have his soul perish from his presence.

II Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

He then tells them, in essence and in context, in your endurance of all the trials I have just described, let your faith in me take possession, or take control, of your souls. Let your born again Spirit control your soul, in patient endurance, through all these trials

Luke 21:19 – In your PATIENCE POSSESS ye your SOULS.

The word used for PATIENCE is HEPOMONE, which means the act of ENDURANCE. POSSESS is KTAOMAI., SOULS is PSUCHE, which is frequently translated as LIFE. In their ENDURANCE, through all these trials, they were to spiritually POSSESS their souls. This is the process of spiritual growth in faith by a soul kept by God, as it grows by the trials it endures – more on this in Part 6.

The prophecy that the first New Testament flock members to follow Jesus would be persecuted, was completely fulfilled in Luke 21:10 during their ministry as they testified to the first New Testament after Jesus ascended to heaven. The Scriptures from Luke 21:19 were events that affected and afflicted believers that followed the teachings of Jesus delivered by the Apostles.

Severe persecutions of believers has now risen in many places in the ancient known world of the writer of Revelation, and it is accelerating and spreading there like a plague. I believe we are going to see it continue there, especially in the ‘Evil Axis’ spoken of prior to the Obama Administration, which included North Korea and the Islamic Terrorist zones where it is currently increasing in intensity.

In Blogs 1 through 3, an exposition was given that covered Mark 13:1-8, Matthew 24:1-8, and Luke 21:5-11. It was established that Luke 21:10,11 referred to the second question that the disciples had asked Jesus about coming events in Matthew 24:3, that being “and what shall be the sign of thy coming?”

Matthew 24:3 – And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Luke 21:10,11 – Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: [11] And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

It was established in Blogs 1 through 3 that this verse contains four signs that will be occurring before Christ returns for the saved. Now, please note carefully the first four words in the verse that follows Luke 21:11.

Luke 21:12 – BUT BEFORE ALL THESE, they shall lay their hands on YOU, and persecute YOU, delivering YOU up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.

Jesus returns to answering the disciple’s first question, “when shall these things be,” that is to say, when will the temple be leveled?” He had given them two things already that would be occurring in Luke 21:8,9 during their lifetimes before the temple was finally leveled. Then he changed the discourse in Luke 21:10 by using TOTE ELEGON (Then said he), and gave them the answer to their second question regarding his coming. But in verse 12 he goes back to answering their first question, and begins to tell them what is going to happen to them personally before the temple is leveled. He literally tells them, BUT BEFORE ALL THESE, that is to say, BEFORE THESE THINGS I JUST TOLD YOU WOULD BE OCCURRING AS SIGNS TO LET YOU KNOW MY COMING IS NEAR, HERE IS WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOU AS MY DISCIPLES. And what he states in Luke 21:12 to 17 is precisely what did happen to them to fulfill this prophecy, and thereby answer their first question. This is not the first time Jesus had warned them what would be happening to them after his departure. He had warned them before he ever sent them out alone on their first assignment in Matthew 10:17-22. Let’s compare this with Luke 21:12 to 17.

Matthew 10:17-22 – But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their SYNAGOGUES; [18] And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. [19] But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. [20] For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. [21] And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. [22] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake:

Luke 21:12-17 – But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the SYNAGOGUES, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. [13] And it shall turn to you for a testimony. [14] Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: [15] For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. [16] And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. [17] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.

Luke 21:12-17 was fulfilled during the lives of the disciples, right up to the leveling of Herod’s temple in 70 A.D. The account of their persecution is vividly portrayed in the book of Acts. It is precisely what Jesus foretold would happen to them long before the increase of the number of nations, earthquakes, famines, and pestilences. To those who believe Luke 21:12-17 has yet to be fulfilled, please note that the subjects of these verses are delivered up to SYNAGOGUES, and I have yet to read a commentary indicating that today’s believers are going to be carried by Jews to be tried in their synagogues. Jews will be under more persecution than true believers in the coming tribulation period. So the Jews will hardly have time to persecute believers.

The Jews will be persecuted to a greater extent in the tribulation period by Islam in the Old World than will Believers
