I first encountered some of the Muslim Brotherhood in a dispute in 1952 in Libya with some of its followers in Tripoli. It was a very disturbing situation and if a group of army troops had not happened by, I would have been in serious trouble. I knew nothing about the organization at that time, but the encounter has caused me to learn much about it since this first encounter. It is the most structured Arab terror group in Islam, the best educated, the most cunning, and the most deceptive. Its cleverness in remaining under cover after it assassinated Egyptian President Sadat and claiming to be “moderate” is a gigantic roll of baloney, and it hates the Egyptian Army, which has controlled Egypt’s Government since President Abdul Nasser took it over. The Muslim Brotherhood wants complete control of the Egyptian Army.

Pakistani and Indian Writers Warn that Al-Qaeda’s Regional Command and Control Remains Intact and Its Regional Affiliates Could Find a Surplus of Jihadi Fighters after the Drawdown of U.S. Troops in Afghanistan

Below are excerpts from three articles by Pakistani and Indian writers assessing the strength of Al-Qaeda and its regional affiliates and their ability to carry out terror attacks a year after Osama bin Laden’s killing, and warning that the regional command and control systems of Al-Qaeda remain in place, and that following the drawdown of U.S. troops in Afghanistan by 2014, the South Asian terror groups would find a surplus of jihadi fighters.

In an article titled “A year Since Bin Laden,” renowned Pakistani author and columnist Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa argued that the influence of bin Laden remains widespread in Pakistan, especially fostered by groups like Jaish-e-Muhammad, which was founded with money from bin Laden and enjoys the support of the Pakistani military. She also argued that pro-jihadist groups have infiltrated the politics of Pakistan and could potentially reach for political power in the coming years, adding: “It’s not just the right-wing radical people who have grown more sympathetic to bin Laden’s aforementioned cause, but also some of the liberal elements who tend to see the jihadis as the only way of getting rid of the American presence from Afghanistan and the region.”

In an article titled “Truth and Terror,” columnist Rafia Zakaria argued that the killing of bin Laden has not led to a decline in terror attacks in Pakistan.

She added: “The attacks have continued unabated since, the period from January until April of this year 2012 already having witnessed 201 bomb blasts with hundreds killed and injured. The year and a half period from 2011 to the middle of 2012 has seen more people die of terrorist attacks in Pakistan than Americans in the whole decade since 9/11.”

Former Indian intelligence official B. Raman, in an article titled “Down But Not Out,” assessed the strength of Al-Qaeda, noting that while Al-Qaeda’s top leadership may be restricted in carrying out a spectacular terror attack in far-away places, the regional affiliates and their command and control systems are very much intact. Raman further warned that after the drawdown of NATO troops in Afghanistan, jihadist organizations in Afghanistan will fund a surplus of jihadis who could be potentially used by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to launch attack against India.

Candidates halt campaigns, parties boycott SCAF meeting, in protest against Abassiya violence
Presidential candidates Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, Mohamed Mursi, Hamdeen Sabahi and Khalid Ali suspended their campaigns on Wednesday in protest against violent clashes by Egypt’s Defence Ministry.
Angered by the presidential committee’s decision to disqualify the ultra orthodox candidate, supporters of Hazem Salah Abu Ismail decided to stage a sit-in in Abassiya six days ago. They called for the dissolving of the committee as well as an immediate handover of power to civilians.
Activists from different political backgrounds, who oppose military rule, soon joined the sit-in where a series of attacks against protesters by unknown assailants erupted on Monday evening.
Security and medical sources have confirmed that 11 citizens were killed in confrontations between protesters and armed assailants, Reuters reported.
In response to the deaths, several presidential candidates suspended their campaigns on Wednesday.
Ex-Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh said, “I declare the suspension of my campaign today… parliament must wake Interior Minister to do his job.” He added, “The state is obliged to protect peaceful sit-ins… it is not the role of citizens to resist attempts to disperse sit-ins on a daily basis.”
Nasserist presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi said, “we will not tolerate the continuation of this bloodbath and violation of people’s right to peaceful demonstration”. Sabahi held the authorities accountable for the protesters’ safety.
Muslim Brotherhood candidate, and head of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Mohamed Mursi, also suspended his campaign for two days in mourning of Abassiya “martyrs”, reported the Brotherhood’s official website

It is still not clear whether the highly precarious post-regime change situation in Libya will revert to civil war or stabilise into a potentially sustainable transition, a special report by the London School of Economics (LSE) concludes.

The report After the Arab Spring: power shift in the Middle East?, which was launched at the LSE this week, ends on a pessimistic note: stressing that, ‘successful revolutions are very rare indeed’. The authors here find little evidence to suggest that future historians will rank the events of 2011 with those of 1848, or 1989.

Simply too few of the fundamentals of social, economic and political organisation in the Arab world have been successfully contested by the protests. As 2011’s Spring turns into 2012’s summer, the answer to the question of whether there has been a power shift in the Middle East, is a decisive ‘not yet’.

In his conclusion to the report Toby Dodge, a reader in international relations at the LSE, says the fact that Libya today has all the prerequisites of a failed state springs from the legacies of Gaddafi’s rule, the way regime change was realized and the actions of politicians and militia leaders in its aftermath.

“When he was murdered, Gaddafi bequeathed to the Libyan population a malfunctioning state with weak governmental institutions and little or no civil society.

“Still traumatised by the extended quasi-imperial occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq, the leading proponents of military support for regime change in Paris, London and Washington, were determined to limit involvement in terms of both ‘boots on the ground’ and overt military assistance.

“This historical legacy and the nature of NATO’s actions has left a post-Gaddafi Libyan regime with spurious legitimacy and little capacity to influence events on the ground,” Dodge says.

In the report, Ranj Alaadin a senior analyst at the Next Century Foundation, who recently visited Libya, describes the National Transition Council now seeking to run Libya as suffering from a ‘series of deficiencies’, a ‘democratic deficit’ and a number of geographical as well as secular-Islamist divisions.

To add to the country’s current woes, the International Crisis Group estimates that real military power lies with anything up to 100 militias containing 125,000 armed Libyans. The situation of a weak and under-legitimised government seeking to impose control over a myriad of militias fighting top retain their military power and geographic autonomy, does not bode well for the transition of Libya.

Analysing the role of the Islamists, Alaadin notes that they have gained recognition in the country’s interim constitution that regards Islamic jurisprudence (sharia) as ‘the principal source of legislation’ – clearly a measure of appeasement since there was no widespread demand for this among the population.

Senior NTC sources themselves acknowledge that the Islamists are recognised as the ‘do’ers’, that is they have the capacity and ability to deliver whilst the NTC has been derided for its inability to take command and take decisions.

The forthcoming elections in June, which will elect a 200-member national assembly to draft Libya’s constitution, may remedy the NTC’s democratic deficit. In truth, however, elections could essentially transplant the existing circles of power and influence, in particular those of the Islamists.

A Tunisian court on Thursday fined a television mogul for airing an animated film construed as blasphemous by hardline Islamists, denting the country’s religiously tolerant image.

Nabil Karoui was found guilty of “disturbing public order” and “violating sacred values” after his television station Nessma aired the Iranian coming-of-age film Persepolis, which includes a brief scene depicting God.

Fourth Dolphin submarine starts long journey to Israel: An official ceremony was held in the German city of Kiel Thursday to mark the handover of a fourth submarine to Israel’s Navy.

The Tanin (“alligator” in Hebrew) is considered one of the world’s most advanced submarines and is the IDF’s most expensive. The vessel is expected to reach Israel only in 2013 and dock at the Haifa Port.

According to foreign reports, the new submarine will possess similar capabilities to the Navy’s existing submarines, including the ability to carry nuclear weapons. The main improvement is an advanced technological component that makes the sub longer and allows it to stay at sea for more extended periods of time.

Following the ceremony, a senior defense source told Ynet that Israel is at the forefront of maritime warfare in the region.

“In addition to the regular theaters we need to defend, including Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, we also need to safeguard gas drills, so that we must cover a wide area and our operations take place at several theaters simultaneously,” he said.

Speaking at the event, the Defense Ministry’s director general said that Thursday’s ceremony reflected the strong, unique relationship between Germany and Israel. During the event, senior Israeli and German officials shattered a champagne bottle, a traditional good luck gesture.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak congratulated the Defense Ministry and the IDF, saying that the new submarine will greatly boost the IDF’s capabilities and the State of Israel’s strength. Meanwhile, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz stressed the sub fleet’s strategic importance.

“The Navy and the submarine fleet constitute a deterrent, protective and strategic arm for the IDF and for the State of Israel,” he said.

A fifth submarine is currently under construction and will arrive in Israel in 2014. Recently, the German government approved the sale of a sixth submarine, which is expected to arrive in Israel by 2017.

So how has he kept such high ratings that he is in a dead heat with the GOP presidential candidate? He has a gigantic, warm, friendly smile, a hardy pat on the back, a warm handshake, and a smooth tongue, with a mouth able to blow cologne breath over giant piles of cow manure policies he has laid during his first three years in office. In my opinion, he has fulfilled the biblical role in a way much like the role played by the evil Pharaoh of Egypt, who afflicted the children of Israel before they crossed the Red Sea.

The failure of the U.S., its Western allies and several Middle East regional powers to take bolder action to stop the carnage in Syria is often explained by their fear of anarchy. Yet anarchy is setting in now: it is preceding – and precipitating – the regime’s eventual fall.
On the surface, the regime appears almost intact, but in the country as a whole it is collapsing. Some areas are now beyond its control, public services are unavailable, and the economy is in free fall.
Assad’s fall does not yet seem imminent, but it has become inevitable. The regime has lost all legitimacy and its effectiveness is weakening.
Fear of another Islamist takeover is another argument against toppling Assad, but the longer he stays in power, the greater the gains made by Islamists on the ground.
The current preference for inaction, while perhaps understandable, threatens to lead to precisely the outcomes that its advocates want to avoid.

Micah 5:5,6 – And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men. [6] And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
I have established, in previous updates, that “this man” of verse 5 is “the peace” himself because he ends the earthly reign of “the Assyrian” at the battle of Armageddon, and then brings in “the peace” that lasts for 1000 years on this present planet. It is only Jesus Christ himself who has the power to bring such a thing to pass.
I believe verse 6 to be one of the most interesting verses in the Scriptures that have yet to be fulfilled. Why am I so certain it has never been fulfilled? Because Israel has not wasted the land of Assyria with the sword, or the land of Nimrod in its entrances thereof, since Micah wrote these prophecies! At the time he wrote the borders of the expanding Assyrian Empire covered all of modern day Israel north of Ramallah, all of modern Syria, all of modern Lebanon, and all of modern Iraq north of Baghdad. The historical settling of this area between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers after the flood in Noah’s day is of great value in the interpretation of Micah 5:6.
Genesis 10:1,6,8,22 – Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. [6] And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. [8] And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. [22] The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
Assyria apparently derived its name from Asshur, the son of Shem. Later in time Asshur was worshipped as the chief God of the Assyrians. Asshur went into the northern area of the fertile plain lying between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, and his descendants that settled it were eventually called Assyrians. It is certain that Israel never wasted this area. Nimrod was the grandson of Ham through Cush. He founded a great kingdom between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, south of the area of Asshur’s descendants, that extended south to the Persian Gulf. The “entrances” into it from the east, which is the direction the Israelis would come to “waste” it, were the shallow sections of the Euphrates River that could be waded to gain entrance. The Euphrates was, and is, perhaps the greatest carrier of top water silt on this planet. The rapid descent gradient of its waters in the steep mountains of Turkey was able to sustain an enormous quantity of erosion debris cut off the mountain slopes, but when the water came onto the flat plains of modern day Iraq its speed was abruptly lowered, and the silt deposition rapidly built up lees across the Euphrates, making it possible for some areas to be waded. The long series of dams currently stretching from Turkey, through Syria, and into Iraq have helped to regulate the flow and silt deposition of the Euphrates, but at the time of Micah’s writings there would have been a plurality of wading entrances into the land of Nimrod across the Euphrates.
Now, why have I gone into such detail as to the locations of Assyria and the land of Nimrod? Because when Israel comes up out of the Negev at the battle of Armageddon, after having been confined there by the Assyrian for 1260 days, it will conquer a specified amount of territory to its north and east.
Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Malachi 4:1 – For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Zechariah 12:6-9 – In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem. Zechariah 14:9 – And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
Micah 5:6 – And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
Israel will claim all the land from the River of Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River, with a northern latitudinal border extending to Hamath (Hama) in Syria, and a southern border extending to Kadesh in the Sinai. And all this is not by accident, but by design and promise, for it was God’s ancient land grant promise to Abraham and to Israel. Its periphery is laid out in Genesis and Ezekiel. Its northern limits were to extend to the latitude of Hamath (Hama) in Syria, and its southern limits to the latitude of Kadesh. Its longitudinal limits to the west were to extend to the Mediterranean Sea and the River of Egypt, and its eastern longitudinal limits were to extend to the “entrances thereof” of the Euphrates River.
This is the area of Micah 5:6 that Israel will “waste,” and then claim for a thousand years.
Genesis 15:18 – In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
Ezekiel 47:17,19 – And the border from the sea shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side. [19] And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.
After Christ has himself, by himself, defeated the Assyrian at the battle of Armageddon to bring in “the peace” of a thousand years, then Israel will roar north out of the Negev to mop up what is left of a demoralized army that is fleeing north. Israel will take Jerusalem back, then drive north, northeast, and east to claim all the land west of the Euphrates River.
Isaiah 66:15,16 – For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. [16] For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.
Zechariah 14:12-14 – And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. [13] And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. President Afghan Election Trip Ploy Opens Door for War after 2013!

President Obama’s surprise night trip to Afghanistan was politically motivated to insure his foreign policy ratings would remain high compared to his GOP rival. It has paved the way for a Middle East conventional non-nuclear Middle East “umbrella war” in which the Islamic nations have a tremendous numerical advantage. I have for many years consistently taught that the final war of the Age of the Gentiles would not be one in which nuclear weapons would be used. President Obama does not realize it, but he has opened the biblical prophetic door to the beginning of the final war of the Gentile Age, which will terminate with a final battle of Armageddon and the 2nd Advent of Christ.

I’ve taught since 1976 what I interpreted from the Scriptures concerning the beginning and ending of the final war. The interpretation follows in the asterisked events:

*The fantastic prophesied destruction in the tribulation period is performed directly by God using his own creation, not by man using his thermonuclear weapons.

*Non-Nuclear weapons will most assuredly take the lives of millions, but the generation of tectonically induced horrors in, on, and above the earth will kill billions.

*Two major factors deterring Islam from attacking Israel has been a presence of foreign troops surrounding it on land and sea with nuclear capability, and Israel with a great nuclear arsenal of mounted Jericho Missiles ready to launch.

*Islam does a lot of saber rattling and threats of destroying the Jewish race and most are certain as soon as Iran builds a deliverable nuclear weapon, it will be launched against Israel. Yes, Iranian fanatics want to kill every Jew on earth, but they are not insane, and know what would happen to Iran if they did so. Iran wants a small arsenal of nukes to deter Israel from launching one against it, while the 10 Islam horns of Daniel wage a conventional war against Israel. The Iranian arsenal does not have to be large because Israel is a small nation.

*The US and the West is building a nuclear umbrella over Israel while Russia builds a nuclear umbrella over Arab and Persian Nations favorable to it.

*When the final war of this age begins in the Middle East between Islam and Israel the navies of the world will be positioned in the Mediterranean, Red, Black, Caspian, and Arabian Seas, and the Gulfs of Aden, Persia, and Oman. There will be an effective block of nuclear launches by Islam or Israel.

*The fantastic advantage of Islam with 10 temporarily bonded clay toes will be too much for Israel to hold on to the land from Dan to Beersheba in a conventional war. Four Million Jews will be slaughtered before a truce is declared at Beersheba, but two million will be able to escape into the vast

Negev Wilderness for some 1260 days.

THIS IS THE INITIAL ATTACK BY ISLAM AGAINST THE WOMAN ISRAEL

THIS IS HOW IT WILL BE FOR GENTILE NATIONS AFTER 2ND ADVENT
Zechariah 14:16,17 – And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. [17] And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

*The Islamic attack will begin when Iran has a small nuclear deterrent arsenal and when sufficient numbers of US forces have been withdrawn from the US bases that surround Iran. President Obama has set the stage for that after 2013. Based on the effect of his signing of the document with Afghanistan this week, now that Islam knows the US Plan for deployment, I think the most logical time for the Islamic attack of 10 horns to be at a point in time to be between 2014 and 2016.

Dozens of US and allied forces’ military bases continue to form a strategic envelope around Iran, although the American withdrawal from Iraq at the end of 2011 may have changed the regional balance somewhat towards Iran’s favour. While US forces are scaling back in many parts of the globe due to budget cuts – and have begun a gradual depature from Afghanistan to be completed by 2014 – their international presence remains vast.

From an active-duty force of 1.4 million soldiers, the US has deployed some 350,000 troops to at least 130 foreign countries around the world. Some are at Cold War-era installations, but many are in or near combat zones in the Middle East.

At more than 750 bases internationally, private contractors and third-country nationals also form a large percentage of the staff, in addition to military reservists and civilian employees of the Pentagon.

US military installations in the Middle East serve to keep an eye on Iran, but their regional footprint was significantly expanded well before Iran became the most publicly cited foreign “threat”.There were three reasons why the US sought a presence across the Middle East, says Mehran Kamrava, Director of the Center for International and Regional Studies at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Qatar:

“Securing oil resources, guaranteeing the security of the state of Israel and combating threats to American interests” were the initial priorities of US military activity in the region prior to the first Gulf War, Kamrava says.

“Subsequently, direct military presence wasn’t in the form of impositions, but the [security umbrella] was a conscious policy decision on the part of the Persian Gulf states.”

‘One in seven’ sees Armageddon ahead

Nearly 15 per cent of people worldwide believe the world will end during their lifetime, and 10 per cent think the Mayan calendar could signify it will happen in 2012, according to a new poll.
The end of the Mayan calendar, which spans about 5,125 years, on December 21st, 2012 has sparked interpretations and suggestions that it marks the end of the world.
“Whether they think it will come to an end through the hands of God, or a natural disaster or a political event, whatever the reason, one in seven thinks the end of the world is coming,” said Keren Gottfried, research manager at Ipsos Global Public Affairs, which conducted the poll for Reuters.
“Perhaps it is because of the media attention coming from one interpretation of the Mayan prophecy that states the world ‘ends’ in our calendar year 2012,” Ms Gottfried said, adding that some Mayan scholars have disputed the interpretation.
Responses to the international poll of 16,262 people in more than 20 countries varied widely with only 6 per cent of French residents believing in an impending Armageddon in their lifetime, compared to 22 per cent in Turkey and the United States and slightly less in South Africa and Argentina.
But only 7 per cent in Belgium and 8 per cent in Britain feared an end to the world during their lives.
About one in 10 people globally also said they were experiencing fear or anxiety about the impending end of the world in 2012. The greatest numbers were in Russia and Poland, the fewest in Great Britain.
Ms Gottfried also said that people with lower education or household income levels, as well as those under 35, were more likely to believe in an apocalypse during their lifetime or in 2012, or have anxiety over the prospect.
“Perhaps those who are older have lived long enough to not be as concerned with what happens to their future,” she explained.
