Revelation 6:12 – And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; [

Mountains are produced by forces in the earth that cause parts of the earth’s crust to rise while others sink. Uplift of the crust, combined with chemical and physical erosion by air, water, and ice over many years, produces the spectacular scenery found in mountains.

At the very high temperatures and pressures found miles below the earth’s surface, rocks can actually flow when density differences are produced by differential heating and cooling of parts of the mantle and lithosphere. The flowing of rocks in the mantle and lithosphere subjects parts of the crust to pulling apart tension, while other parts are subjected to squeezing together.

Rocks are relatively weak and brittle under tension and, as a consequence, crust under tension tends to break up into giant blocks. Rocks are stronger under compression but when the compressive forces get very large, rocks deform by flowing, folding, and breaking.

The Appalachian Mountain Range is much older than the Rocky Mountain Chain, and many more years of chemical and physical erosion by exposure to air, ice, and water have eroded their height. Many geologists, and I agree with them, believe the EARLY block lifting of the Appalachians was associated with volcanic activity along its length, accompanied by creation of multiple fault lines and earthquakes.

As the soil eroded it has been carried into the Atlantic Ocean for many years by the hydrological cycle, and the weight lifted from above the early root foundation of the mountain chain caused one of the subterranean faults to suddenly release along its long held pressure buildup, which had been blocking the release, and the east felt its release in an earthquake.

When the Tribulation Period begins with the opening of the sixth Revelation seal, it will eventually lead to large earthquakes from this effect along and either side from eastern Tennessee to eastern Canada.

A 5.8 earthquake in Virginia was felt in Washington, New York City and North Carolina this afternoon.

Buildings swayed, and damage reports began trickling in within minutes of the largest quake in Virginia in more than a century.

The quake rocked Virginia at 1:51 p.m., and authorities said the epicenter appeared to be in Louisa County, about 40 miles northwest of Richmond. The epicenter is not far from Dominion Virginia Power’s North Anna nuclear plant, where the earthquake knocked out power, but the both nuclear units were shut down without incident and no damage was apparent, Dominion said.

“We did lose on-site power, but all the diesel generators are up and running,” Dominion spokesman Richard Zuercher said 30 minutes after the quake.

“Everything appears to be operating just fine.”

Zuercher said North Anna’s operators were preparing to manually shut down the units after the quake when the power station’ s operating

system automatically powered down both units.

The quake _ the largest in Virginia since May 5, 1897, according to the U.S. Geological Survey _ shook buildings and employees were ordered outside across Richmond and other cities in Virginia. Within minutes, Richmond police began receiving calls about possible property damage.

Those calls included a possible stairwell collapse along North First Street downtown, a possible wall collapse along East Broad Street in the city’s East End and a possible wall collapse at a structure along Hioaks Road in South Richmond _ as well as numerous reports of possible gas leaks.

While many of the calls proved unfounded, they kept emergency crews busy throughout the affternoon.

Authorities report no known significant damage or injuries in the counties of Amelia, Charles, Cumberland, Goochland, King and Queen, New Kent and Powhatan and the cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights and Hopewell.

William Harper, an employee with the town of Mineral in Louisa County, reported “some building damage” at the municipal offices, where the telephones were ringing constantly.

The Seals, The Trumpets, and the Vials of Revelation

Part 2 – The Second Seal

The first four seals of Revelation open before the period known as the tribulation period. They occur during the period of time Jesus called “the beginning of sorrows.”

Matthew 24:7,8 – For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

[8] All these are

the beginning of sorrows.

The first seal has already opened and closed. The second, third, and fourth seals are already open, and will remain open until the end of the tribulation period.

All three of them will intensify rapidly in the tribulation period.

In Part 1, we placed the first seal before the tribulation period in the time period from 1918 to 1939, from the end of World War I to the beginning of World War II. The second seal was opened by the appearance of the red horse rider when Hitler attacked Poland in 1939 to start World War II. The Second Advent will close it.

Revelation 6:3,4 – And when he had opened the second seal, I heard

the second beast say, Come and see. [4] And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

The bloody 1939 German invasion of Poland marked the arrival of the red horse of war. As its rider spread out a carpet of blood by war across what was once the old Roman Empire, across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Eurasia, it began to fulfill verse four’s prophecy. We have had no lasting peace on the earth since 1939, with blood continuing to be shed off and one during the cold war across the northern half of the ancient Roman Empire, and intermittent bloody wars have continued to occur across the great African and Middle East sections of what made up the vast southern half of the Empire in John’s day. The landmass of Roman conquest in Africa and the Middle East was greater in size than the land it took over in Europe.

The antichrist will arise out of this section of a revived Roman Empire, not out of Europe. The ten toes of Daniel’s great statue, the 10 horns of his fourth beast, the ten horns found on each of John’s two beasts, and the ten horns on his Dragon, are all

the same ten kings, but they are not European horns, they are the horns of ten Islamic nations, and the horn that leads them comes out from the section of the Roman Empire that once covered the ancient Assyrian Empire. The Antichrist is likely to arise out of that section of the Assyrian Empire which came to be known as “Greater Syria.”

The rider on the red horse is still on the move in guerilla warfare across northern Africa, and the entire Middle East. The suicide bombings, the hit and run tactics, and all the terrorist activities in the Middle East will continue to increase until a false peace comes in to lull Israel into a false sense of security. The false peace will not last for three and one half years. I believe it will last for less than three months, and be broken by a surprise Jihad of lightning quickness out of Syria and Lebanon.

The total number of wars in any given year peaked in 1987, but the character of it changed from army against army to terror again everyone.

However, the coming Jihad will break a brief false truce suddenly, and massive blood shed will occur across southern sections of the old Roman Empire, which was replaced by the vast Umayyad Islamic Caliphate.

The initial red horse blood bath will occur from Syria to Egypt, but by the end of the tribulation period, which ends with the battle of Armageddon, it will have engulfed all of what was once the Umayyad Caliphate. It will be the revived Islamic Beast Caliphate Head Number 8, approximately the size of Caliphate Head Number 7, out

of which it will have risen from the dead.

The Lamb will destroy the Islamic Beast Caliphate Head Number 8 at His Armageddon Second Advent, which ends the 3 and ½ year of entrapment of Israel in the Negev Wilderness, and the beginning of the Lamb’s Millennial Reign.

Daniel 11:41-43 – He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. [42] He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. The role of Iran and Hizballah in manipulating the ongoing Palestinian war on Israel from Gaza is manifest, DEBKAfile’s military sources report. They planned, orchestrated and funded the coordinated attacks on the Eilat Highway Thursday, Aug. 18 – in which gunmen shot dead eight Israelis and injured 40 – and its sequel: volleys of 90 missiles launched day and night from Gaza against a million Israeli civilians since then.

Yossi Shoshan, 38, from Ofakim, was killed by one of the dozen Grad missiles hitting Beersheba and his home town Saturday night. More than a dozen people were injured, at least one critically.

The prime mover in the missile blitz is Tehran’s Palestinian arm, the Jihad Islami, which is responsible for 90 percent of the launches. Hamas is left on the sidelines, cut off for the first time from top levels of authority in Tehran and Damascus.

The IDF is held back from substantive action to snuff out the Iran-backed offensive by the indecision at the policy-making level of the Israeli government, which is still feeling its way toward determining the dimensions and potential thrust of the military crisis landing on Israel out of the blue.

Under Egyptian, Israeli and US noses, Tehran managed to transfer to its Palestinian arm in Gaza, the Jihad Islami, more than 10,000 missiles well in advance of the violence launched three days ago.

Most of them are heavy Grads bringing Beersheba, capital of the Negev and Israel’s 7th largest town (pop. 200,000), within their 30-kilometer range for a sustained, massive missile offensive.
Tehran has now launched the hardware smuggled into the Gaza Strip ready for a Middle East war offensive for five objectives:

1. To leave Syrian President Bashar Assad free to continue brutalizing his population and ignoring President Barack Obama’s demand backed by Europe that he step down.

2. To manufacture a direct military threat on the Jewish state, whose destruction is fundamental of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ideology.

3. To thwart the Egyptian military junta’s operation last week for regaining control of the lawless Sinai Peninsula and destroying the vast weapons smuggling network serving Iran in its capacity as the leading international sponsor of terror.

4. To render the Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and his bid for UN recognition of an independent state on Sept. 20 irrelevant. His isolation was brought home to him last Thursday by the coordinated Palestinian terrorist attacks near Eilat

5. To plant ticking bombs around Israel for potential detonation and explosion into a full-blown regional war.

DEBKAfile’s Washington sources disclose that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton outlined this peril to Egypt’s military ruler, Field Marshall Muhammad Tantawi, Saturday night, Aug. 20, to dissuade him from recalling the Egyptian ambassador to Israel over the deaths of three or five Egyptian police in the melee over the Palestinian terror attack near the Sinai border.

owever, just as Cairo discovered that its operation for eradicating al Qaeda and other Islamist radical groups’ grip on Sinai would give Iran the pretext for aggression, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and

the IDF high command found themselves at a loss to determine whom to attack.

Up until now, Israel declared the Hamas rulers of Gaza accountable for all attacks originating in the enclave.

That formula is no longer valid. The Eilat Highway attacks were planned and executed behind Hamas’s back and so was the missile offensive – until Saturday night, when Hamas decided to try and step in.

Both Hamas and Cairo are in fact out of the picture.

Israel’s leaders are stuck for solutions because no one in Washington, Jerusalem or Cairo can be sure of the outcome of any military steps they might take. They can’t be sure whether they will douse the violence or just play into the hands of Hizballah and Tehran who may have more shockers in their quivers ready to loose.

Only three facts stand out from the fog of uncertainty:

First, the security crisis besetting Israel has the dangerous potential for dragging the Middle East into a regional war.

Second, America and Israel are paying in full the price of their quiescence in the face of Iranian, Hizballah and extremist Palestinian belligerence and active preparations for war, including the stockpiling of thousands of increasingly sophisticated weaponry on Israel’s borders.

Third, the first step an Israeli soldier or tank takes into the Gaza Strip to silence Jihad Islami’s missile fire is more likely than not to precipitate a second Iranian-orchestrated assault on another of Israel’s borders.

Sunday morning, no one in any of the capitals concerned was ready to risk guesstimating how far Tehran was ready to go in its current offensive and what orders Hizballah and

its Palestinian puppets had received.

Israel strives to avert Egyptian ambassador’s recall. US in mediation bid

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak held intensive consultations Saturday, Aug. 20, on the sudden sharp downturn in relations with Egypt and ways to prevent its government going through with a decision announced earlier to recall its ambassador from Israel.
Netanyahu contacted the White House and Barak, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. They replied that without an immediate Israeli apology to Cairo, there was no point in them interceding with Egyptian rulers to reverse their decision. The defense minister thereupon issued a public statement of Israeli regret for the deaths

of Egyptian policemen in the course of a terrorist attack on the Israeli-Egyptian border.

He said he had ordered the IDF to investigate the incident and then conduct a joint probe with the Egyptian military to determine the circumstances of the incident.

Israel attaches the highest importance to its peace accord with Egypt and its value for Middle East stability, Barak said.

By Saturday evening, Cairo had not responded to this statement or altered its decision to recall the ambassador.

In Cairo meanwhile the Israeli embassy was besieged for the second day by angry protesters demanding the ambassador’ s expul

sion, while the Egyptian media carried hostile reports on relations with Israel.

Cairo announced that due to the strained ties, it was suspending talks with Israel on the resumption of gas supplies at revised prices.

Back now to DEBKAfile first report on the episode earlier Saturday.

Egypt is to withdraw its ambassador to Israel to protest what it calls “breach of the peace treaty” over the deaths of five Egyptian security personnel. In its statement Saturday morning, Aug.

20, Cairo referred to an incident alleged to have occurred Thursday as Palestinian terrorists coming from Sinai attacked Israel’s Eilat highway.

The cabinet emergency committee meeting in Cairo said: “Egypt will withdraw its ambassador to Israel until it receives an apology and the results of an official investigation into the killing of five Egyptian policemen near the border. Israel will be held responsible for political and legal implications of the incident which was a violation of the Camp David Treaty.”

The second part of the Egyptian statement demanded an Israeli apology for the “hasty and regrettable statements about Egypt.”

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak at the scene of the terrorist attack commented that it reflected “the weakening of Egypt’s hold in the Sinai and the broadening of activities by terror elements.”

He thoughtlessly pointed at Egypt to redirect domestic criticism of the army for not adequately responding to an intelligence warning of the coming attack, which left eight Israelis dead and 40 injured.

The Cairo rejoinder: “Egypt will also take protective measures and strengthen security at the border with the necessary forces capable of deterring alleged infiltrators as well as responding to any activity by the Israeli military.”

This statement contained a direct threat to set aside the decades-long peace treaty with Israel which mandates the demilitarization of Sinai as a buffer zone between the two countries.

Angry demonstrations outside the Israeli Embassy in Cairo and other towns were sparked Friday night by Barak’s comment and the testimony of witnesses at the scene of the deadly multiple Palestinian attack alleging that Egyptian soldiers on the Sinai side of the border had aimed fire at Israeli targets and terrorists in Egyptian army uniform were seen near Egyptian military positions just across the unfenced border.

There were also reports that Egyptian soldiers were attacked and killed by masked men in Sinai, which is known to be infested with terrorists including al Qaeda.
But the Egyptian military rulers’ step means that Cairo is suspending the Camp David peace treaty and will not consult Israel as mandated before transferring as many troops as it likes into Sinai until an Israeli investigation throws full light on the events that unfolded around Thursday’s deadly terrorist attack.

DEBKAfile’s Egyptian sources report that Cairo is planning to inject substantial military strength into the Sinai Peninsula in the coming hours, forcing Israel’s army to confront the Egyptian army on its southwestern border for the first time in three decades.

This diplomatic misfortune is the direct consequence of a grave misjudgment by the Israeli military. Despite a timely and specific intelligence warning, the high command especially in the South failed to take seriously the possibility of a minor Palestinian terrorist group in Gaza, the Popular Resistance Committees, mounting what was the most sophisticated, coordinated terror operation Israel has ever suffered in its long experience of Palestinian violence.

The PRC did more than sow death on a major Israeli highway and disrupt life and traffic in the whole of its southern region. It has driven cracks in the Egyptian-Israeli peace which altered the face of the Middle East and held up for 32 years against attempts by most of the Arab world to overturn the epic Camp David treaty
In Cairo, Alexandria and Suez, the three Egyptian cities in the forefront of the revolution which toppled Hosni Mubarak, the Muslim Brotherhood organized anti-Israel rallies Friday and Saturday. The demonstrators shouted that Egyptian blood would not be spilled in vain and called for a strong reprisal.

The incident is fast becoming an issue in Egypt’s presidential campaign among the Brothers and other contenders.

Israel’s decision-makes missed the train badly on Thursday by failing to take one of two obvious courses:

1. Proposing directly to Egypt’s rulers that if indeed Egyptian servicemen were hit inadvertently during the IDF operation to end the terrorist attack on its citizens, Israel apologized and would be willing to set up a joint panel with Egypt to probe the alleged incident and make sure there would be no recurrence.

2. Alternatively, Israel had every reason to be first to lodge a protest – both with Egypt and the United Nations – after 15-20 heavily armed Palestinian gunmen laid up for weeks in Egyptian Sinai carried out a series of deadly terrorist attacks on an Israeli road.

However, our sources report that in the first hours after the attack, the Israeli government and high command were too bewildered to think clearly and react rationally.

Now it is too late. Egypt’s ruling generals are beyond heeding testimony, however credible, demonstrating that al Qaeda – not Israeli troops or helicopters – was responsible for the Egyptian deaths. Egged on by the Muslim Brotherhood, they have taken the first step on the road to revoking the historic Camp David peace accords.

They can only be turned back if the United States intercedes and urges them to think again and abandon this radical and hazardous course.

Iranian warships coming to Mediterranean and Red Seas

Less than 24 hours after the breakdown of its nuclear dialogue with the six world powers in Istanbul, Iran announced plans Sunday, Jan.

23, to send a fleet of warships, including a home-made destroyer, on operational and intelligence-gathering missions to the Red Sea and on to the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal. DEBKAfile’s military sources: Parts of the fleet will in fact be deployed in the three waters around Israel’s southern and western shores.

Tehran is taking advantage of the lack of military and diplomatic momentum on the part of US and Israel for a naval thrust to expand its range of operations and encroach on their areas of control.

It is also a rapid response to the arrival of the USS Enterprise carrier with a strike group carrying 6,000 sailors and marines and 80 warplanes in the Mediterranean at the end of last week on its way to the Arabian Sea opposite Iran.

British ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair’s call on the West to stop apologizing and react to Iran with force was not lost on the rulers of the Islamic Republic.

The Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari spoke of three or four vessels including Iran’s first home-made destroyer, Jamaran, with back-up operational units standing by for urgent support missions.

His deputy, Rear-Admiral Gholam Reza Bi-Gham said

the deployment would last about a year and at some future time, long-distance submarines would join the fleet.
Since Nov. 2008, the Iranian Navy has been conducting anti-piracy patrols between the Gulf of Aden Straits of Bab al-Mandeb off Yemen so some of its units are not far away.

Both admirals reported that a flotilla of Iranian naval officer cadets would soon be dispatched to the Mediterranean and Red Seas to gain experience in these new areas and gather intelligence.

Iran recently purchased three Kilo class submarines from Russia and is using them in the Persian Gulf. DEBKAfile’s military sources report they belong to a bygone generation of subs and lack advanced electronic systems, making it hard for them to stay deep down underwater for long periods without surfacing.

For two years, Iranian military shipyards have been building miniature submarines, war ships and fast assault craft. Most Western naval give them low ratings in performance especially in view of their outdated electronics.

DEBKAfile’s military sources, however, estimate that if deployed in support of the warships assigned to the Mediterranean and Red Seas, those mini-submarines and assault craft could be extremely troublesome and give plenty of headaches to American, Israel and Egyptian naval commanders.

Syrian navy hits Latakia to crush protests, 4 killed

AMMAN – Syrian navy ships shelled two densely populated residential districts in the country’s main Mediterranean port city Latakia on Sunday, residents and rights campaigners said, in the second day of a military assault to crush protests.

“I can see the silhouettes of two grey vessels.

They are firing their guns and the impact is landing on al-Raml al-Filistini and al-Shaab neighborhoods,” one witness told Reuters by phone from Latakia, where tanks and armoured vehicles deployed three months ago to crush dissent against President Bashar Assad.

Residents said at least four people were killed in the two districts from tank fire on Sunday morning, bringing the total killed since the beginning of the assault on Saturday to six. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said six civilians were killed on Sunday.

At least 25 people were killed and an estimated 100 wounded said activists, who added that the attacks appeared to be a response to the large protests in the city Friday. Activists charged that Syrian security officials were shooting people in the streets of the Ramleh neighborhood, where many Palestinians reside. “Entire buildings are being shelled with heavy artillery. The bodies stay on the streets because we are unable to leave our home and get them,” said Abu Yousef, a local resident.

Turkey Gives “Ultimatum” to Damascus

A Turkish official told Hurriyet on Friday that a letter from Turkish President Gul to Syrian President Assad delivered by Turkish Foreign Minister Davutoglu on Tuesday was considered by Ankara as an “ultimatum” to Damascus that, if violence by Syrian troops continued, Assad would no longer be able to rely on Turkey’s friendship. “If a regime is not listening to the advice of its friend and neighbor and continues opening fire on its own people, that regime can no longer be Turkey’s friend,” the source said.
