Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
Some Mormon scholars believe that Quetzalcoatl, who they describe as a white, bearded god who came from the sky and promised to return, was actually Jesus Christ.
According to the Book of Mormon, Jesus visited the American natives after his resurrection. Latter-day Saint President John Taylor wrote:
[“The story of the life of the Mexican divinity, Quetzalcoatl, closely resembles that of the Savior; so closely, indeed, that we can come to no other conclusion than that Quetzalcoatl and Christ are the same being. But the history of the former has been handed down to us through an impure Lamanitish source.
“]
This idea was adapted by science fiction author and Mormon Orson Scott Card in his story America.
In the 2004 book The Bearded White God of Ancient America: The Legend of Quetzalcoatl, authors Donald and W.
David Hemingway examine a theory among Conquistador-era analysts that Quetzalcoatl may have been a New Testament-era Apostle of Jesus Christ, such as Saint Thomas. Donald Hemingway has previously taught religious studies classes at Brigham Young University. The aforementioned theory expressed by John Taylor in the Latter-Day Saint Movement is also discussed within his book in an appendix.
New Age
Various theories about Quetzalcoatl are popular in the New Age movement, especially since the publication of Tony Shearer’s 1971 book “Lord of the dawn: Quetzalcoatl and the Tree of Life” republished also under the title “Lord of the dawn: Quetzalcoatl, the plumed serpent of Mexico.”

I obtained the following from a source years ago. At age 79 I have no memory of its source!
MAYAN GOD QUETZALCOATL
The Aztec Emperor Moctezuma II initially believed the landing of Cortez in 1519 was Quetzalcoatl’s return. Cortes played off this belief to aid in his conquest of Mexico. The exact significance and attributes of Quetzalcoatl varied somewhat between civilizations and through history. Quetzalcoatl was often considered the god of the morning star and his twin brother, Xolotl was the evening star (Venus). As the morning star he was known under the title Tlahuizcalpante-cuhtli, which means literaly “the lord of the star of the dawn”. He was known as the inventor of books and the calendar, the giver of maize corn to mankind, and sometime as a symbol of death and resurrection. Quetzalcoatl was also the patron of the priests and the title of the Aztec high priest.
Most Mesoamerican beliefs included cycles of worlds. Usually, our current time was considered the fifth world, the previous four having been destroyed by flood, fire and the like. Quetzalcoatl allegedly went to Mictlan, the underworld, and created mankind from the bones of the previous races, using his own blood to imbue the bones with new life.
His birth was unusual; it was a virgin birth.
Quetzalcoatl was a god of such importance and power that nearly no aspect of everyday life seemed to go untouched by him. Secondly, as a historical figure, his actions would nor could not be contained by the History and thus eventually evolved into myth.
As a legend, he would signal the end of mortal kingship.
MAYAN CALENDAR OF END OF TIME:
The Mayan calendar, created thousands of years ago is amazing. It is esoteric and mysterious, like the people who invented it and then vanished. The Mayan calendar of time disturbingly and suddenly ends on December 21, 2012 at 11:11am. They seemed certain this was the end of the world.
BUDDHIST WHEEL OF END OF TIME:
On the other side of the world, Tibetan monks use the Wheel of Time to pinpoint when they think the end will come. Equally disturbing, the Wheel of Time also ends in 2012.
NOSTRODAMUS PREDICTED 2012 AS END!
End of Mystery Source
I DO NOT BELIEVE THE MAYAN CALENDAR, BUDDHIST WHEEL, OR THE NOSTRODAMUS PREDICTION SHOULD BE USED TO STATE THE END OF TIME WILL OCCUR IN 2012. I BELIEVE WHEN ALL THREE FAIL AND THE SUN RISES ON JANUARY 1, 2013, THE PROPHETIC CRY OF PETER 3:3,4 IS SURE TO REACH ITS GREATEST NOISE LEVEL ACROSS THE PLANET.
IT IS, IN MY OPINION, LIKELY TO BE QUIETED BY THE BEGINNING OF THE LAST WAR OF THE AGE OF THE GENTILES, WHICH WILL CLOSE WITH ITS FINAL GREAT BATTLE AT ARMAGEDDON SOME 3 & ½ YEARS AFTER IT BEGINS. I BELIEVE IT IS LIKELY TO BEGIN AT SOME POINT IN TIME BETWEEN 2013 AND 2015.
2 Peter 3:1-4,8,9 – This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: [2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: [3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. [8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. [9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
I am certain the final war of this age will close the age of the Gentiles, but I cannot be certain it will begin between 2013 and 2015 – The eventual occurrence is certain, but the precise WHEN is not! After the Mayan Calendar scare has past, the cry of “where is the promise of his coming?” will reach its greatest cry since the beginning of the Gentile age, increasing a worldwide belief that the Bible is a great hoax. Such a condition will set the stage for a fulfillment of Paul’s prophecy in I Thessalonians 5. The passage of the Mayan Calendar scare will cause many to breathe the sigh of a great relief that the “gloom and doom” prophecies from the Bible aren’t true, and create a relief mindset that its “sudden destruction” prophecies by God will not be occurring, and that “Peace and safety” are on the horizon. This will be the most likely time for the final war of this age to begin. God’s children are not in darkness, and should not be surprised regardless of when the last war of the Gentile age does finally begin. I will not be surprised if it occurs before 2013 or after 2015, because I know it is near, and believe it is likely to begin at some point in time between
2013 and 2015.
Romans 11:25 – For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Ahmadinejad vs Ayatollah: Who will win Iran dust-up?
As Iran’s president squares off against the country’s chief ayatollah, the BBC’s Iran correspondent James Reynolds asks if, this time, President Ahmadinejad is punching above his weight.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad likes to argue. Iran’s president has made a career out of picking fights with (in no particular order): two consecutive US presidents; Iran’s entire opposition Green Movement; most countries in the European Union; the commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard; and a sizeable chunk of Iran’s conservative MPs.
Perhaps feeling that this list was incomplete, Mr Ahmadinejad has now added one more opponent to his list: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei or, more simply, his own boss.
“I think Ahmadinejad is someone who has profound delusions of grandeur, someone who is not content playing second fiddle to the Supreme Leader,” says Karim Sadjadpour of the Carnegie Endowment in Washington DC.
“He sees himself as a revolutionary and a visionary leader… This smack-down of Ahmadinejad was somehow inevitable because Ahmadinejad was not content with merely being a president.”
The fight between the president and the supreme leader has broken out because the two men have different visions for the future of Iran.
Ali Khamenei wants to preserve the Islamic Revolution – exactly as Aya
tollah Khomeini bequeathed it to him more than two decades ago.
But Mr Ahmadinejad wants to change it. He and his allies want to take power away from the clerics.
Over-ruled
But in Iran, there is only room for one ultimate decision-maker. That is the supreme leader – not the president.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has a long-lasting alliance with the Revolutionary Guard, the military force which protects the Islamic Revolution. This alliance forms the bedrock of the Supreme Leader’s power.
The parliament takes the side of the ayatollah and the Revolutionary Guard.
Khamenei has already lost because he has no other option. He made [Ahmadinejad] president and now he is ruining him”
End Quote Abolhassan Banisadr Former Iranian president
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may have considerable popular support among Iran’ s working cla
ss. But he has none of the levers of power possessed by the ayatollah.
So, when Mr Ahmadinejad tried to fire the Intelligence Minister in April, the ayatollah was able to overrule him easily. (The president responded by going into a 10-day public sulk.)
The Supreme Leader and his supporters in the Revolutionary Guard are also looking to what happens after 2013, when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’ s term of office come
s to an end. The constitution bars him from a third consecutive term.
Mr Ahmadinejad has tried to position his close friend and former chief of staff Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei as his successor. Mr Mashaei has promoted the slogan “Islam without the clerics.”
As a result, the Supreme Leader’s office has gone after Mr Ahmadinejad, Mr Mashaei and their supporters. Some have been arrested – and even accused of sorcery.
Road to Versailles
One man who lives in a mansion outside Paris knows more than anyone else about what happens when a president and his supreme leader confront each other.
Abolhassan Banisadr was elected president of Iran in 1980. Like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he challenged his Supreme Leader – in his case, Ayatollah Khomeini.
And Mr Banisadr lost.
He was impeached by parliament a year after taking office. And he has spent the last three decades in exile. He believes that, in the end, both Ali Khamenei and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will lose.
“Khamenei has already lost because he has no other option,” says Mr Banisadr. “He made this man – made him president – and now he is ruining him. So what is left to be done after this? As the Arab movements have been chanting, the only option for him is to go.”
But that may be more of a wish than a prediction.
The ayatollah and his powerful supporters in the Revolutionary Guard will not back down.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may think he can win. But he might remember what happened to the last man who tried to do what he is doing – and who now watches life in Iran from his living room on the road to Versailles
