Israeli forces on high alert for Nakba Day, Sunday, May 15, failed to seal three national borders on the Golan, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip against large-scale incursions.

Dozens of Syrians and Hizballah invaders were able to overrun the Israeli Golan village of Majd al Shams and hoist Syrian and Palestinian flags in the main square; Hizballah-sponsored Palestinian demonstrators breached the Lebanese-Israeli border and damaged IDF installations; and hundreds battered the Erez crossing from the Gaza Strip

Iran Sent Banned Weapons to Syria, Says UN Report

More details were made available Thursday on the contents of a United Nations report which says that the Iranian regime is continuing to blatantly violate the sanctions which have been imposed on it.

According to CNN, the UN report says that Iranian weapons which have banned for export under Security Council resolutions are making their way to Iran’s close ally, Syria.

According to the report, the UN’s expert panel found that Syria was the destination “of six out of the nine incidents of conventional arms transfers” by Iran that were discovered.

One such example, says the report, was reported by Turkish authorities who were inspecting a cargo plane that had stopped over in Turkey en route from Iran to Aleppo, Syria, in March.

Turkish authorities were quoted as saying that “Arms were found onboard in nineteen crates declared as ‘auto spare parts.’ They comprised 60 Kalashnikov rifles, 14 BKC (Bixi) machine guns, 7,920 rounds of Kalashnikov ammunition, 560 60 mm mortars and 1,288 120 mm mortars.”

The report also says that “It is likely that other transfers took place undetected and that other illicit shipments were identified but not reported to the committee.”

According to CNN, the report says that the Syrians have denied the allegations.

On Tuesday, other parts of the UN report were made public by The Associated Press, such as the fact that the experts believe that while the sanctions have made it harder, costlier and riskier for Iran to acquire items needed for its banned nuclear and missile activities, “Iran’s circumvention of sanctions across all areas, in particular the use of front companies, concealment methods in shipping, financial transactions and the transfer of conventional arms and related material is willful.”

The panel of experts also noted that “Iran maintains its uranium enrichment and heavy water related activities … and in the area of ballistic missiles, continues to test missiles and engage in prohibited procurement.”

The report recommends that the UN Security Council impose additional sanctions on two individuals and two trading companies involved in Iran’s illegal shipment of conventional weapons. (IsraelNationalNews.com)

Egyptians, Jordanians hold anti-peace rallies

Cairo protestors burn Israeli flags, chant ‘millions of martyrs marching to Jerusalem’ ahead of upcoming Palestinian ‘Nakba Day’; Jordanian demonstrators demand end to peace treaty with Israel, expulsion of envoy

Arab hostility: Tens of thousands of Egyptians gathered at Cairo’s Tahrir Square Friday ahead of “Nakba Day,” which will be marked by the Palestinians in two days to commemorate the “disaster” inherent in the State of Israel’s establishment.

The protestors at the square endorsed Palestinian unity and chanted anti-Israel slogans, including “millions of martyrs are marching to Jerusalem.” Among other things, the demonstrators called for the expulsion of Israel’s ambassador to Egypt and urged the government to sever diplomatic relations with the Jewish State.

Some protestors burned Israeli flags at the site while others held up Palestinian flags. The event constituted a pre-pl

anned rally ahead of major protests scheduled for Sunday.

At one point during the day, Egyptian forces had to fire warning shots in the air to disperse thousands of people hurling stones outside Israel’s embassy in Cairo.

On Thursday, Egyptian authorities urged citizens not to take part in a solidarity march with the Palestinians Sunday to the Rafah border. A statement issued by authorities called on activists to “avoid implications that may stem from such march.”

Jordan’s Facebook protest

Meanwhile, heeding a call from Palestinian Facebook organizers, several hundred Jordanians took to the streets of the capital demanding a sovereign Palestinian state and a refugee right of return.

About 500 protesters marched in Amman’s downtown market district Friday also demanding an end to Jordan’s 1994 peace treaty with Israel and the expulsion of the

Israeli ambassador.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrations are not unusual in Jordan, but a gathering called for on Facebook is.

Organizers are apparently inspired by the Arab uprisings in Egypt and other Arab countries that were heavily dependent on social network sites.

Israeli security forces are braced for a multi-front challenge on Palestinian Nakba (Catastrophe) Day Sunday, May 15, which marks the partial Palestinian exodus during Israel’s War of Independence: In addition to guarding against Palestinian and Israeli Arab demonstrations tipping over into disorders, they are ranged on the borders of the Gaza Strip, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria to thwart plans for manufacturing a link-up between those demonstrations and the Arab Revolt.

Pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel rallies in those Arab countries, which erupted Friday night with demonstrators mobbing the Israeli embassy in Cairo, are planned to head for Israel’s borders for a riotous rendezvous with Palestinian and Israeli demonstrators. Syrian authorities are especially keen on the plan as a diversion from their universally condemned crackdown against their own protesters.

Israel will stay on high security alert for at least the next ten days.

Saturday night, the IDF imposed an indefinite closure on the West Bank. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that its security chiefs are acting on information that Palestinian leaders and their Arab supporters plan to calibrate the level of their disturbances to influence the watershed events taking place in Washington this week – in particular US President Barack Obama’s speech Thursday, May 19, in which he will discuss the new US-Muslim relationship following Osama bin Laden’s death.Israeli official sources are counting on the Jordanian, Egyptian and Lebanese authorities restraining unruly elements from surging across their borders into Israel, but the IDF high command and police are not sanguine.

Israeli intelligence has information that Palestinian leaders believe that if Israeli police and troops can be goaded into firing live ammunition by exceptionally violent disorders on the West Bank and Israeli Arab districts, Obama will be forced to bring up the Palestinian issue in his speech or, even better, tie it in with the bin Laden operation.

The US President receives Jordan’s King Abdullah II in the White House May 19, the only Muslim leader he sees before delivering his speech. Obama meets Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu the following day, Friday, May 20.

Some Israeli intelligence quarters are convinced that wholesale disturbances fit in with Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ plans in two ways:

1. They generate the right ambiance for the diplomatic campaign he is running up to September for the UN General Assembly to recognize a Palestinian state within 1967 borders and its capital in Jerusalem. By keeping the street violence going well beyond Nakba Day, he is trying to offset Israel’s partially successful bid to dissuade the United States and most of West Europe from endorsing his motion.
The Obama administration has not yet indicated whether the US will support Abbas’ initiative or abstain, a decision that will influence the European governments which are still undecided about whether or not to follow Germany’s decision to vote against the Palestinians.

An American decision to abstain would bring the undecided Europeans down on the side of the Palestinians.
Even with majority UN endorsement in the bag, the Palestinian motion needs the votes of the US and the main European powers to give it international political ballast; the resolution would not be taken nearly as seriously if it were carried by only second-string international players like Switzerland, Sweden, Africa and Asia. Abbas believes that a cascade of violent Palestinian demonstrations and plenty of blood on the streets would persuade the key voters to jump off the fence.

Mahmoud Abbas hoped that after signing a pact of reconciliation between his Fatah and Hamas he would be allowed to visit the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip for the first time since they fell out four years ago. But no invitation reached him in Ramallah. By letting Palestinian rioters loose on West Bank streets, he is showing up Hamas’ limitations by demonstrating that he alone is capable of challenging Israel in the mode and spirit of the Arab Revolt.

He and his Fatah leadership showed their mettle by staging riots in Jerusalem, Jaffa and Galilee Friday and Saturday, May 13-14 before Nakba Day.

Friday, Milad Said Ayash, 17, died of a bullet wound from a source not stablished during a clash in Silwan, Jerusalem sparked by Palestinians hurling firebombs and rocks at Israeli police. The Palestinians accused one of the security guards at the Israeli residential Beit Yehonatan of shooting the boy and declared him “the first shahid (martyr) of the Third Palestinian Intifada” against Israel.
Israel’s Housing Ministry officially later denied that any weapons were fired by the guards or the Israeli occupants of the building. Israel was refused access to the boy’s body for an autopsy as part of its probe into his death.

Saturday night, Palestinians in two more Jerusalem suburbs, Shuafat and Issawiya, attacked Israel policemen and injured two.

For Sunday, therefore, Israeli security forces are braced for disorders in three centers: the West Bank, Arab Israeli districts and Jerusalem. The disturbances are expected to carry over in

to the rest of the week.

The King of the North – The Antichrist

Part 1

Daniel 11:41 – He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

The initial attack into the glorious land of Israel will be from the north, from Syria and Lebanon, and the first of many countries that will fall before the antichrist will be Israel. There will be a lightning surprise Jihad blitzkrieg launched by Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Iraq, with logistical support from Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, and Sudan.

These are the ten toes of Daniel’s great statue, the ten horns of his fourth beast, and the ten horns on both of John’s beasts. At the time of the attack the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza will attack the IDF internally and outwardly.

Daniel 2:42 – And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

Daniel 7:7 – After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

Revelation 13:1 – And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Revelation 17:3 – So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Many of the countries of Daniel’s day were named for their first descendants as they related to Abraham. Edom was associated with the descendants of his grandson Esau, with Ammon and Moab being associated with the two sons of his nephew Lot. In Daniel’s day these three countries were to the immediate east, northeast, and southeast of Israel. If you will check all maps from B.C. 500 to 700, you will discover that all three of these countries would be entirely engulfed by modern day Jordan. So why would Jordan escape his wrath? Its geographical position would have no military, political, or financial value to him, and the occupants of Jordan will certainly not attack him, so he will bypass Jordan on his way to conquer the Suez Canal, which will have all three of these values abundantly. Jordan will not be a part of the initial Jihad, but after Israel is driven into the Negev it will be 100% in the antichrist’s camp. Because Egypt and Jordan made peace with Israel they are out of favor with what I call the big three, which are Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

And because Saudi Arabia plays footsies with the United States, it also falls into the non-favored category. The Arab world simply doesn’t trust Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia enough to include them in the secret planning that will go into the Jihad, and they will be as surprised as Israel when it is launched. Jordan and Saudi Arabia will support the antichrist after he conquers Egypt, and will to do so for the remainder of the tribulation period.

Daniel 11:42 – He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

In Prophecy Update Number 71 we exposited on verse 41. We begin this Update with Israel having already lost some 2/3 of its population while being driven into the Negev wilderness by 10 Arab nations led by the antichrist. Once he has driven Israel into the Negev and secured the northern periphery of it to stop a breakout from it, he will leave Israel trapped in it

and proceed to his most important military objective, the Suez Canal.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

There is no more important zone in the entire Middle East from a military, political, and economic standpoint than the narrow strip of water known as the Suez Canal. World shipping passes through it from the south into the Mediterranean Sea on its way to European ports, and to the

ports of the northern Atlantic. It carries southward through its banks the shipping commerce that services the ports of the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Siam, the South China Sea, and the vast Pacific Ocean.

The sudden lightning Jihad strike from the north will catch the western world by complete surprise. The short period of false peace in the Middle East, following a period of no peace since 70 A.D. for the Jewish nation, will lull Israel and those nations that are friendly to her into a false sense of security. Furthermore, I am convinced that the lengthy chain of worldwide earthquake activity will begin at this time with the occurrence of the first earthquake in the book of Revelation, found in 6:12, and that the worldwide activity will continue until the last earthquake of Revelation, found in conjunction with Armageddon in 16:16-18.

Revelation 6:12 + 16:16-18 – And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; [16] And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. [17] And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. [18] And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

This surge of worldwide earthquake activity, acting with the element of surprise, and pushing an already weak economy over the edge, will cause the western world and Europe to be more concerned with their own national interest of survival, than in the survival of Israel. Besides, I assure you that, immediately upon the antichrist’s conquest of the Suez Canal, the plans will already have been laid to instantly announce that the status quo of the Suez Canal operations will remain unchanged, and that all nations will have free access through it.

I have always believed that the 10 toes of Daniel’s statue and the 10 horns of his fourth beast are the same as the 10 horns found in Chapters 13 and 17 of Revelation. There is no question in my mind that in the last days of this age the 10 horns were to arise out of the southern flank of the area dominated by the fourth beast of Daniel, which represented the Roman Empire of John’s time. The Roman Empire, at its maximum expansion, extended into parts of all the nations that I believe will be involved in the support of the antichrist when he drives Israel into the Negev, and then takes over the Suez Canal. I believe those 10 nations will be Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Sudan, The Palestinians will attack Israel from within the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Daniel 2:32,33 – This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, [33] His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

Daniel 7:23,24 –Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. [24] And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

Revelation 17:12,13 – And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

These 10 Islamic nations will be the nucleus of the antichrist’s kingdom, with the Suez Canal as its focal point. One could not find a better geopolitical location for a capital of this area than the great city of Cairo.

Jordan Cozies Up to Assad

Jordanian Prime Minister Marouf Al Bakhit on Wednesday telephoned his Syrian counterpart Adel Safar to discussed boosting relations between Jordan and Syria, the Jordan Times reports.

During the conversation, Bakhit stressed Jordan’s concern for Syria’s stability, expressing hope that calm will be restored in the Kingdom’s northern neighbor.

He also underscored Jordan’s confidence in the ability of the Syrian leadership to handle ongoing protests in the country in the best interest of Syria and its people.

Safar expressed appreciation of Jordan’s concern about the security and the stability of Syria, commending efforts to develop bilateral relations.

Safar said Assad’s government is committed to implementing economic and political reforms President Bashar Asaad announced recently.

Bakhit’s call comes as the United States and other western nations seek to isolate the regime of Bashar Assad, which has brutally sought to quell demonstrations calling for his ouster.

Syria has been sharply censured by the International community for its repressive tactics vis-a-vis demonstrators. Sancti ons have been imposed

on some senior Syrian leaders. On Wednesday, Syria was also forced to withdraw its candidacy for the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Also Wednesday, Assad’s forces shelled residential neighborhoods in Homs, killing eighteen.

Some 750 people have been killed in the violent protests that have rocked the Alawite-run, Sunni-majority nation.

Jordan’s motives for seeking to improve relations with Assad’s regime as he brutally suresses his people remain an enigma.

When popular rebellions began erupting around the Middle East earlier this year, the outpouring of democratic fervor was quickly dubbed the Arab Spring, a phrase that captured the heady optimism of what appeared to be a new era of freedom and hope. But as spring turns to summer, events across the region are taking an altogether darker and more sinister turn, one in which the prospect of a brighter future no longer seems so readily assured.

The kingdom of Bahrain has decisively crushed its popular uprising with the help of Saudi troops. Now, human rights groups say, authorities there are engaged in a systematic persecution of the mostly Shiite majority that dominated demonstrations earlier this year. In Syria, the government headed by President Bashar al-Assad is pursuing a remorseless effort to quell a pro-democracy movement, using tanks and artillery to pound neighborhoods that had participated in demonstrations, and detaining by the thousands whole communities of young men. Why Should Israel Make Peace with Failed States?

In Syria, 10% of the population governs.

The majoritarian rest, the Sunnis and their Muslim Brotherhood vanguard, have been cowering since 1982.

Pity the Alawites when the Sunnis will strike for revenge. On the other hand, how much can you pity the Alawites who have been plundering and imprisoning and also murdering for four decades?

What had Obama in his head when he tried to jumpstart Israeli negotiations with Syria? Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights, what else? Israel’s retreat from territories it had captured while they were being used by enemies trying to vitiate Israel itself. This is the president’s steady trope. Israel should withdraw from the West Bank and ancient Jerusalem and east Jerusalem and, yes, the Golan Heights, too, without a shred of evidence that it would be protected, could be protected from attack by armed soldiers, armed aircraft and armed terrorists, by a deadly admixture of regular troops with guerrillas somehow coddled by human rights organizations which define the latter virtually as civilians.

Do you believe that the Arabs truly want peace? Well, I don’t. Why am I not a believer? Because the only unifying strand in the disparate state systems of the Arabs is their struggle against the Jews, the Zionists, the Israelis. Nothing else motivates them so doggedly.

We are now being sermonized, mostly by journalistic oracles, to believe that these last months are a Prague Spring for Muslims. They have an agenda and it is to convince Israel not to be a killjoy but to join the party and ease the path to peace.

I happen to believe that Arabs need to learn to live with each other before Israel opens itself to its neighbors’ villainy now being practiced on their own.

Fatah Revolutionary Council Urges Palestinians to Escalate “Popular Resistance”

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas addressed members of the Fatah Revolutionary Council at a meeting in Ramallah on Thursday. The Revolutionary Council issued a statement at the end of the meeting backing Abbas’ plan to seek UN recognition of a state and to sign a reconciliation accord with Hamas. The council urged Palestinians to escalate “popular resistance” against Israel, especially in Jerusalem. The Fatah council also urged Palestinians to take part in events marking Nakba Day on Sunday by participating in marches and rallies. Daniel 11:35 is the end of the activities of Antiochus IV Epiphanes and the Jewish Maccabees.

Daniel 11:35 – And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

At this time the “time of the end” was yet for a time appopinted, when the final king of the north would arise in greater Syria as Antichrist. Antiochus was not the last king of the north.

Verse 36 begins to describe the characteristics and activities of the Antichrist, followed by details of the last three and one-half years of tribulation after he pushes south into Israel as the king of the north in Daniel 11:40 to 12:1.

THE CHARACTERISTICS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE ANTICHRIST WHEN HE EVENTUALLY ARISES IN SYRIA

Daniel 11:40 – And at the TIME OF THE END shall the king of the south push at him: and the KING OF THE NORTH shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

When Alexander died in 323 BC he left no heir to the throne. Thus, a period of intense struggle broke out among his many generals over who would control the vast empire. This was all complicated even more when Roxana, Alexander’s wife, gave birth to a son, who was now the rightful heir to the throne. Cassander, one of the generals, quickly solved the problem by killing both Roxana and her baby.

This struggle among the generals continued until 315 BC, at which time it was decided to divide the kingdom four ways among the top four generals.

This four way division of the empire was predicted long beforehand in Daniel 8:21-22. These four generals were known as the Diadochoi, which in Greek means “Successors.” They were:

Ptolemy Lagi — who ruled over Egypt, Palestine, Arabia, and Peterea. He was assisted by a general named Seleucus, who had originally been given Babylon, but who was later forced out by Antigonus.

Antigonus — who controlled Syria, Babylonia, and central Asia.

Cassander — who ruled over Macedonia and Greece.

Lysimachus — who was the ruler of Thrace and Bythinia.

Even though the kingdom had been divided between them, these Diadochoi still continued to fight with one another. There were frequent outbursts of violence as they sought to gain each other’s territory. Antigonus was probably the worst of the generals. The others finally allied themselves together and drove him out in 312 BC. Members of his family managed to flee to Macedonia where they set up a small kingdom, but it is of little significance to this study.

General Seleucus seized upon this opportunity and took back the territory which had originally been given to him. This area, Syria and Babylonia, now became the Seleucid Dynasty.

At the same time, P tolemy Lagi extended his boundaries northward from Egypt

to include the area occupied by the Jews. Thus, the Jews came under

the rule of the Ptolemies, which rule they held until 198 BC.

After the Battle of Ipsus (301 BC), Seleucus succeeded in taking all the territory previously held by Antigonus; the kingdom of Lysimachus was also absorbed into the Seleucid Dynasty. Thus, with the exception of the small Macedonian kingdom, the entire empire was now controlled by the Seleucids in the North and the Ptolemies in the South. Caught right in the middle of these two struggling factions was Palestine, and it became the source and site of constant conflict between the Seleucids and the Ptolemies. For the first 100 years or so the Ptolemies held the upper hand in the struggle over Palestine, the home of the people of Israel.

Former Egyptian foreign minister and current head of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, seen as most likely to become “new” Egypt’s next president, is actually a figure from the old Egyptian regime.

Amr Moussa, most probably Egypt’s next president, has given a comprehensive picture of his views, a taste of the likely policies of someone about to become the most powerful individual in the Arab world.

Moussa, a former Egyptian foreign minister (1991-2001) and head of the Arab League until his resignation takes effect on May 15, is a figure from the old Egyptian regime. But which aspect of the old regime – that of the centrist Hosni Mubarak, the moderate Anwar Sadat, or the radical Arab nationalist Gamal Abd al Nasser? Moussa is the last Nasserist. He knows the next president must also be a populist to survive, so he will bash Israel, the United States and the Egyptian upper class. The hope is that he will be pragmatic enough to restrict his demagoguery to rhetoric.

It might seem ironic that a revolution against the old regime ends up electing a figure from the old regime.

Yet Moussa perfectly combines experience and name recognition with radicalism.

A recent Pew poll shows him with an 89-percent positive rating.

Moussa’s prospects look so good because the Islamists aren’t running a presidential candidate, while moderate democrats are restricted to a small urban middle class constituency and four of them are running, thus further splitting that vote.

Another reason Moussa’s election appears likely is his deft use of the anti-Israel card. So identified is Moussa with hostility to Israel that in 2001 a popular song titled “I Hate Israel (I love Amr Moussa)” zoomed to the top of the Egyptian hit parade.

Indeed, Moussa is now claiming that much of the reason for his break with Mubarak was his desire to take a stronger stance against Israel.

Moussa’s basic argument in his Wall Street Journal interview is that Egypt has obtained nothing from peace with Israel, and that Israel is completely at fault for the lack of an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.

Of course, Egypt has received the return of the Sinai; the reopening of its oil fields and of the Suez Canal; and the opportunity for more trade, tourism and a lower military budget. Failure to take advantage of the latter points was due to Egyptian decisions.

In addition, Egypt and Israel had what amounts to an alliance against revolutionary Islamism, particularly Hamas in the Gaza Strip. President Moussa will reverse this policy and see Hamas as an ally, albeit one that he won’t trust.

HAMAS IS now starting to believe that by attacking Israel it will have the power to draw Egypt into a war. If that view is not countered decisively by the next Egyptian government, the result will be a return to the 1960s and a terrible major conflict. Unfortunately the current US government cannot be counted on to help eliminate th at prob

lem.

As the Wall Street Journal accurately notes: “US and European officials said they don’t see the Egypt-Israel peace agreement in danger in the near term. They say Cairo won’t place in jeopardy billions of dollars in aid.”

We’ve seen this kind of economic determinism before, and every time it is applied to Middle East states it has failed. Examples: – Yasser Arafat will make peace with Israel because he wants to get a state and huge compensation funding.

Syria will moderate and turn toward the West – and away from Iran – in order to get trade and investment.– Iran would much rather become wealthy than pursue these silly ideas about spreading Islamist revolution. Now, here’s what’s really shocking in the interview. To quote the Journal’s account, Moussa “described a political landscape in which the Muslim Brotherhood is dominant. It is inevitable, he said, that parliamentary elections in September will usher in a legislature led by a bloc of Islamists, with the Brotherhood at the forefront.”

Think about that. Even Moussa, who is anti-Islam

ist, admits this.

He is running as an independent, meaning he will have no political party behind him. Thus, Moussa must constantly compromise with the majority in parliament, and he is assuming that it will be an Islamist majority.

While I doubt that the Islamists will have an outright majority, I think they will certainly be the largest bloc. That also means they will take a leading role in writing the constitution.

After many years in which Egypt was oriented inward, Moussa will reassert a leading Egyptian role in the Arab world. That probably means conciliation with Syria and the recreation of a radical Arab bloc that includes Egypt for the first time in more than 30 years.

The best thing that can be said is that neither Iraq nor the Saudis would participate, while the Jordanians would be wary.

Egypt will no longer be a US ally; the question is the degree to which it will become an enemy.

Finally, he knows that he will have to deliver economic benefits to the masses. But that probably means higher subsidies and more government jobs – policies that will do nothing to improve Egypt’s economy. The worse the economy gets, the more virulent the anti- Israel, anti-American demagoguery will be.

We are able to predict this crisis more than six months ahead of time, yet Western countries, media and experts have not yet seen what is coming down the road toward us.

JESUS ANSWERED 3 QUESTIONS BUT NOT IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER!

THEY ARE LINGUISTICALLY SEPARATED FROM ONE ANOTHER BY THE FOLLOWING EXPRESSIONS IN LUKE’S OLIVET DISCOURSE:

(1) “BUT THE END IS NOT BY AND BY’ – LUKE 21:9

(2) “THEN SAID HE UNTO THEM” – LUKE 21:10

(3) “BUT BEFORE ALL THESE” – LUKE 21:12

(4) “UNTIL THE TIMES OF” – LUKE 21:24

(5) “AND THERE SHALL BE” – LUKE 21:25

Luke 21:24 – And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles

be fulfilled.

The prophecy, concerning “the times of the Gentiles” in Luke 24:21, applies specifically to the city of Jerusalem, and it’s Temple. And, indeed, the city and temple were “trodden down of the Gentiles” until June of 1967. However, the prophecy in Romans 11:25, concerning the “fullness of the Gentiles” coming in, refers to the absolute end of the Gentile age, at which time the entire nation of Israel will be grafted back into God’s olive tree. This will not be accomplished until Jesus returns with the saints to end the tribulation period, and begins his millennial reign.

Romans 11:23-25 – And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. [24] For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree

? [25] For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

This is the time of Christ’s coming to end the battle of Armageddon, and to bring in his kingdom, which is promised to be the place of inheritance for the saints in Daniel 7:13,14,18.

Daniel 7:13,14,18 – I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

[14] And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and

his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. [18] But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.

Jesus finished the answer to the first two questions of Matthew 24:3 in his discourse in Luke 21:8-24.

Matthew 24:3 – And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming,

and of the end of the world?

In Luke 21:25,26 Jesus answers the third question, what signs will mark the time when the kingdom comes to end this world (age) and bring in your reign over all nations?

Luke 21:25,26 – And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26] Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

This answer is tied to the beginning of the last 1260 days of tribulation, which I believe is found in Revelation 6:12-15, and gives an overview of all that will happen during the last three and one-half before Jesus comes to end the tribulation period.

Revelation 6:12-17 – And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; [13] And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

[14] And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

[15] And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Then, in Luke 21:27,28 Jesus comes with the saints to end the age and bring in his Kingdom. And he closes with advice to all believers.

Luke 21:27,28 – And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. [28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Ephesians 4:30 – And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Jinn in Islam

In Islamic theology jinn are said to be creatures with free will, made from smokeless fire by Allah as humans were made of clay. According to the Qur’an, j inn have free will, and Iblis abused this freedom

in front of Allah by refusing to bow to Adam when Allah ordered angels and jinn to do so. For disobeying Allah, he was expelled from Paradise and called “Shayṭān” (Satan). Jinn are frequently mentioned in the Qur’an: Surah 72 (named Sūrat al-Jinn) is named after the jinn, and has a passage about them. Another surah (Sūrat al-Nās) mentions jinn in the last verse.

The Qur’an also mentions that Muhammad was sent as a prophet to both “humanity and the jinn,” and that prophets and messengers were sent to both communities.

Similar to humans, jinn have free will allowing them to do as they choose (such as follow any religion). They are usually invisible to humans, and humans do not appear clearly to them.

Jinn have the power to travel large distances at extreme speeds and are thought to live in remote areas, mountains, seas, trees, and the air, in their own communities. Like humans, jinn will also be judged on the Day of Judgment and will be sent to Paradise or Hell according to their deeds.

Classifications and characteristics

The social organization of the jinn community resembles that of humans; e.g., they have kings, courts of law, weddings, and mourning rituals. A few traditions (hadith), divide jinn into three classes: those who have wings and fly in the air, those who resemble snakes and dogs, and those who travel about ceaselessly. Other reports claim that ‘Abd Allāh ibn Mas‘ūd (d. 652), who was accompanying Muhammad when the jinn came to hear his recitation of the Qur’an, described them as creatures of different forms; some resembling vultures and snakes, others tall men in white garb. They may even appear as dragons, onagers, or a number of other animals. In addition to their animal forms, the jinn occasionally assume human form to mislead and destroy their human victims.

Certain hadiths have also claimed that the jinn may subsist on bones, which will grow flesh again as soon as they touch them, and that their animals may live on dung, which will revert to grain or grass for the use of the jinn flocks.

Ibn Taymiyyah believed the jinn were generally “ignorant, untruthful, oppressive and treacherous”.

Ibn Taymiyyah believes that the jinn account for much of the “magic” perceived by humans, cooperating with magicians to lift items in the air unseen, delivering hidden truths to fortune tellers, and mimicking the voices of deceased humans during seances.

Allies of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were arrested this week for being “magicians” and invoking spirits, Iranian website reported on Wednesday.

Ahmadinejad’s chief of staff Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei as well as other people close to the Iranian president were accused of invoking djinns.

One of the arrested men, Abbas Ghaffari, was called “a man with special skills in metaphysics and connections with the unknown worlds,” Iranian news site Ayandeh reported.

Many conservative clerics have also criticized Rahim-Mashaie, his closest aide, for promoting an “Iranian school” of Islam, which they consider a dangerous nationalistic stance.

Ahmadinejad’s close relationship with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – the senior cleric who has the last word in the Islamic Republic’s affairs – was strained two weeks ago, according to some analysts, over the president’s attempt to sack his intelligence minister, a move vetoed by the supreme leader.

Since then Ahmadinejad has missed two cabinet meetings – something some foreign analysts said was akin to a boycott.

Ahmadinejad attended his first cabinet meeting for more than a week on Sunday, dismissing rumors of a damaging split with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, news agencies reported.

Speculation began to circulate that Ahmadinejad no longer enjoyed the unqualified support of Khamenei, something the government denied.

Khamenei had endorsed his re-election in June 2009 in a vote the opposition said was rigged.

Ahead of Sunday’s cabinet meeting, the head of national broadcaster IRIB told news agencies that Ahmadinejad would express his allegiance to Khamenei.

The jostling for influence is happening less than one year before a parliamentary election set to be a battle among fellow conservatives. Leading reformist candidates are unlikely to be allowed to stand if they are deemed too close to the opposition “Green” movement, which the establishment considers to be part of a foreign-backed conspiracy to overthrow the Islamic system.

Opposition leaders deny any such thing.
