Jamaat Tawhid, the radical Islamist group that held the protest, and which calls for the implementation of shari’a law in France, invited prominent radical Islamist groups and figures from other European countries to attend the event. The statement was posted on the Internet on April 3, 2011.

“We Call Upon Carla Bruni to Become a Muslim, to Repent, to Join Our Islamic Community, and to Wear the Niqab”

Sheik Abu Imran: “Allah’s blessings upon you, my dear brothers and sisters in France. We respond to your call, Jama’at Al-Tawhit [‘Group of Monotheism’].

“My dear brothers, you sent us an invitation to participate in the April 9 demonstration in Paris. We will be honored to come, and partake with you in the victory of our Islamic nation, with the grace of God.

“The demonstration was originally organized to [protest] the banning of the niqab.

My dear brothers, I would like to tell you that we are coming with the goal of defending the niqab, and the honor of our sisters, as well as with another goal.

“We are coming to perform a da’wa. Our da’wa is directed toward Carla Bruni. We call upon Carla Bruni to become a Muslim, to repent, to join our Islamic community, and to wear the niqab. I ask Allah to guide Carla Bruni,

to turn her into a niqab-wearing Muslim, and to make her divorce that unbeliever, Sarkozy, may Allah fight him. I pray to Allah for the family of that false idol Sarkozy to become Muslim, and to wear the niqab – so that this unbeliever Sarkozy will see the niqab in his very home, and in his very own family, Allah willing.”

January 21, 2006 will be a “fateful day,” Maj. Gen. (res.) Amos Gilad warned the Americans, some four months before the Palestinian parliamentary elections that ended with a sweeping victory for Hamas. Gilad made this remark at a meeting with senior U.S. State Department official Elizabeth Dibble on September 21, 2005. The minutes of the meeting, originally reported in a cable sent from the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Washington, were revealed this past weekend in the latest WikiLeaks cache of documents.

These comments by Gilad distinguished him from other Israeli officials, most of whom failed to predict the effect the 2006 elections would have on the Palestinian Authority. Israeli experts told reporters after the elections that they were surprised by the results. Furthermore, the media reported that researchers in the intelligence community also failed to anticipate the outcome. The intelligence estimate at the time was that Hamas would garner a significant number of seats, but would not win; in the end the movement won a landslide victory, with over 50 percent of the vote.

Many in Israel’s political and military establishments did not appreciate the historic significance of the elections. This apathy could also be explained by Israel’s desire to not appear as if it opposed the Palestinians’ decision to act according to democratic principles.

Indeed, any local official criticizing the move could have been seen as criticizing the Bush administration and its preaching for “democratization” everywhere, especially in the Mideast.

Gilad, then head of the political-military bureau in the Defense Ministry, is quoted as saying he was sure the elections would be free, but that they would not result in democracy, as PA President Mahmoud Abbas had already announced he would never dismantle the terrorist infrastructure.

Gilad told Dibble that Hamas hoped to replace Abbas: “First they will win 40 percent of the votes. This will give them a good showing, but will not saddle them with responsibility,” he said. “They will offer anything to win votes, and then they will take over the municipalities. They have a plan to take over Nablus and all the jobs it will offer. This will give them incredible power. Then they’ll prepare the Palestinian street so that their frustration will erupt.”

The cable said that Gilad admitted he was not sure if the Israeli government had given adequate attention to the elections and their implications, and he went as far as to say that, “We are doomed if Hamas becomes a real power and part of political life, especially as the PA continues to be helpless.”

JESUS ANSWERED 3 QUESTIONS BUT NOT IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER!

THEY ARE LINGUISTICALLY SEPARATED FROM ONE ANOTHER BY THE FOLLOWING EXPRESSIONS IN LUKE’S OLIVET DISCOURSE:

(1) “BUT THE END IS NOT BY AND BY’ – LUKE 21:9

(2) “THEN SAID HE UNTO THEM” – LUKE 21:10

(3) “BUT BEFORE ALL THESE” – LUKE 21:12

(4) “UNTIL THE TIMES OF” – LUKE 21:24

In Blogs 1 through 6, an exposition was given that covered Mark 13:1-8, Matthew 24:1-8, and Luke 21:5 to 19. Blog 6 completed Luke 21:12-19 as an answer to the first of three questions the disciples asked Jesus, which are found in Matthew 24:3, the first question being, “when shall these things be?” They wanted to know what signs would be occurring from that time until the temple was leveled.

Blog 6 ended with the exposition of Luke 21:19, so Part 7 will continue to answer this first question, beginning with Luke 21:20.

Luke 21:20 – And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

There were actually two surroundings of Jerusalem by Roman troops in the Jewish War.

The first occurred in response to Menahem’s breaking open of Herod’s armory on Masada, after which he quickly distributed its weaponry to his fellow Jerusalem citizens and the wilderness bandits of Masada. The events that transpired after that are fully described in the account of the JEWISH WARS by Josephus, the great historian of the time.

All of this culm inated

in the slaughter of the Jewish colony in Caesarea, capital city of the Governor, with more than 20,000 suffering death in the brutal slaughter. This event marked the true beginning of the Jewish War. The Jews, in response to this carnage, began their war against Rome.

The Roman general Cestius Gallas was commissioned by Rome to put down the Jewish rebellion. He enjoyed great success in city after city, until he came to Jerusalem.

After having put down the rebellion in areas north and west of Jerusalem, he came to set up his camp in a place called Gibeon, six miles from Jerusalem.

Eventually, after several skirmishes, Cestius surrounded Jerusalem, and set his camp headquarters on Mt.

Scopus. His troops kept the city surrounded for some time, thinking the Jews would surrender. Then, and even today, military strategists are amazed he did not attack the city, rather than surrounding it for some time.

They say he could have almost walked into the city and the Jews would have capitulated. But suddenly he withdrew from around the city and headed north. When the Jews saw this, they took courage, and viciously attacked the rear flanks of his retreating army. The Jewish losses were negligible, but the Romans and their allies lost 5,300 infantrymen and 480 cavalrymen to death. The surrounding of the city, and the battle, occurred in 66 A.D., and incurred the wrath of the Emperor of Rome.

Nero dispatched the Roman general Vespasian to Israel to put down the Jewish rebellion. Vespasian’s march across Syria and northern Israel is not pertinent to this exposition, so I will not list its events.

He eventually smashed Jericho and all the smaller cities around Jerusalem, and would have gone against Jerusalem, but was recalled to Rome and declared Emperor in 69 A.D., leaving his son Titus in change of the Roman legions in Israel. Titus surrounded Jerusalem, and began his siege against it in March of 70 A.D., capturing the Fortress Antonia in July, firing Herod’s Temple in August, and desolat

ing the entire city in September. The desolations of the Jewish War ended with Mesada’s fall to the Romans in 73 A.D., which had been in Jewish hands since being conquered in 66 A.D. by insurgents. So, when Jerusalem fell in 70 A.D., Vaspasian was the Emperor of Rome and his son Titus, as a Prince of Rome, came in like a flood and desolated the city, and until the end of the war desolations continued across southern Israel.

Luke 21:21 – Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

After the first surrounding of Jerusalem by Cestius, Josephus indicates that “many of the most imminent of the Jews swam away from the city, as from a ship when it was going to sink.” It is quite likely that many believers left the city when he withdrew, and never returned, taking it as a fulfillment of the warning in Luke 21:20. When Titus came some four years later to surround it for the second time, some have written that very few believers were to be found in the city, since they believed the first surrounding was the sign of warning the city would soon be made desolate.

However, since the siege began at the time of Passover, few believers would have been in the city. But there is no question that after Jerusalem was surrounded by Titus, it was made desolate some seven months later, and I am convinced this is the desolation that Jesus spoke of in Luke 21:20. In modern day terminology they were advised “to get out o’ town and head fo de hills, and don’t u’ cum bak no moe, no moe.”

Much of the following on the fourth and fifth cups of the Passover was extracted from the web site of Chosen Peoples Ministry.

Fourth Cup

The fourth cup is the Cup of Hallel. Hallel in Hebrew means “praise,” and we see in the beautiful High Priestly Prayer of John 17, that Jesus took time to praise and thank the Lord at the end of the Passover Seder, his last supper.

The spotless Passover Lamb had praise on his lips as he went to his death.

John 17:1-26 – These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: [2] As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. [3] And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

[4] I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. [5] And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Elijah’s 5th Cup

A place setting remains empty for Elijah the prophet, the honored guest at every Passover table. The Jewish people expect Elijah to come at Passover and announce the coming of the Messiah (Malachi 4:5). So a place is set, a cup is filled with wine, and hearts are expectant for Elijah to come and announce the Good News. At the end of the seder meal, a child is sent to the door to open it and see if Elijah is there.

Every year, the child returns, disappointed, and the wine is poured out without being touched. My people wait and hope for Messiah – they do not realize that Messiah has already come. But those of us who believe in Yeshua know that He is the one the prophets spoke of.

He is the spotless, unblemished Passover Lamb, whose body was broken for us, whose blood was shed, and who now lives to distribute His life to all of us who apply His blood to the doorpost of our hearts and have passed from death into His eternal life.

The Cup of Elijah will be a cup of bitter wine for those in the tribulation who do not receive his message when he delivers it as one of the two witnesses prior to sounding of the seventh trumpet.

AN EXPOSITION OF THE TWO WITNESSES – PART 14

Paul’s mystery of God is about to be fulfilled in Chapter 11 of John’s Revelation.

1 Corinthians15:51,52 – Behold, I shew you A MYSTERY; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, [52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, AT THE LAST TRUMP: for the TRUMPET shall SOUND, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Revelation 10:7 – But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, THE MYSTERY of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

Revelation 11:11-15 – And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

[12] And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. [13] And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted,

and gave glory to the God of heaven. [14] The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. [15] And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Please note there was a great earthquake in the SAME HOUR the two witnesses went up to heaven in a cloud. Also please note that the third woe, which is the blowing of the seventh (last) trumpet, is said to come QUICKLY. I conclude this is going to be a boom, boom, boom series between the ascent of the two witnesses and what is called the rapture of all the saints in Revelation 11:15.

BOOM 1 – The two witnesses are seen to ascend alive into heaven

BOOM 2 – Within minutes (within the same hour) a great earthquake occurs and the 144,000 remnant gives glory to God)

BOOM 3 – The sounding of the seventh trumpet, which is the third woe, comes QUICKLY (following quickly the earthquake that closed the second woe) and the rapture of all the saved on the earth occurs, which includes the 144,000 sealed Jews in the Negev Wilderness.

The larger remnant of Jews left behind at the departure of the 144,000, call upon the Lord in the Negev and a nation is born in a day. God protects them from his wrath as he pours out the seven vials of His wrath on unbelievers. This larger remnant of Jews will go into the Millennium as born again believers in human flesh.

Matthew 24:21,22 – For then shall

be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. [22] And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Acts 2:19-21 – And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: [20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: [21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Luke 21:25-27 – And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26] Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. [27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Romans 11:26,27 – And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: [27] For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Isaiah 66:8 – Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day

In an interview published April 4, 2011 in the London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, which was headlined “Al-Assad Should Step Down and Return To Dentistry,” Syrian human rights activist Muntaha Al-Atrash states: “Whenever we ask for freedom and democracy they tell us that our confrontation with Israel is more important than narrow domestic issues.

They excuse themselves with this confrontation with Israel, and now they are

saying that the Syrian regime is nationalist and does not bow to the West. However, we too do not bow to the West, and do not accept anybody’s dignity being harmed.

The dignity and pride of Syria will not bow regardless of who is ruling.”

Bashar Al-Assad is Playing With Fire By Dealing with a Complex Political Situation in a Sectarian Manner

“Al-Sharq Al-Awsat spoke with well-known Syrian human-rights activists Muntaha Al-Atrash, who is also the daughter of the Commander General of the Syrian Revolution Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash. Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash played a prominent role in the Arab revolt, and led the Syrian revolution against the French Mandate (1925-27). His funeral in 1982 was attended by more than a million people.

“Muntaha Al-Atrash graduated from Cairo University’s Faculty of Arts in 1967, and is the official spokesperson of the Syrian Organization for Human Rights (Swasiya). In an exclusive telephone interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat from Damascus, Al-Atrash denied that there was any foreign conspiracy against Syria, stressing that the protests were being carried out by Syrian youth who wanted democracy. She also said that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad was playing with fire, and that he should step down from power and return to dentistry.

He is playing with fire because playing on sectarianism in Syria will only ensure that the situation spins out of control and the magic may turn on the magician.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] Are you afraid of Syria becoming a new Iraq

“[Al-Atrash] In Syria we are all one family, and there is no difference between a Druze, a Sunni, or an Allawite, we are all Syrians, we all live in the same neighborhood… however, what is happening now is completely different, for the Syrian regime is utilizing the viewpoint of ‘divide and conquer’ so that the Allawites fear for their future if the Sunnis come to power, whilst 15,000 Syrian pounds are paid to Allawite youth to take up arms against the Sunnis in Doma City [in the suburbs of Damascus]. This is in order to allow the situation to be portrayed as sectarian unrest; however, this narrow view of the crisis will drown the country.”

“Absolutely No Foreign Parties” Are Involved in the Uprising

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] The Syrian regime has repeatedly stated that foreign hands are responsible for what is happening in the country. What is your view of this claim

?

“[Al-Atrash] I completely deny this, there are absolutely no foreign parties involved [in the uprising], this is a revolution of the youth who are hungry for democracy and freedoms, a youth who are living through a historic period that all the people of the world passed through dozens of years ago. There is no conspiracy; the conspiracy is being hatched against the Syrian people; in Banias, the demonstrators captured four Shabiha gangsters who confessed that they were hired to kill demonstrators.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] Do you believe that Iranian hands are moving behind the scenes in Damascus?

“[Al-Atrash] I cannot talk about what I don’t know, and I do not know what is happening behind the scenes [in Damascus], but Iran is strongly supporting the Syrian regime, and the two are linked by strong strategic interests.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] Are you afraid of a repeat of the Hama massacre?

“[Al-Atrash] What happened in Doma city and Der’a is similar to what happened in Hama; the security forces that should be protecting the people and the peaceful demonstrators are instead firing bullets at them. In Doma city they are arresting the injured in hospital and killing the wounded in the street in cold blood. Israel itself does not act in this manner, so why is there all of this bloodshed?

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] In your opinion, why are the Syrians revolting at this time?

“[Al-Atrash] [This is due to] 40 years of injustice, 40 years of oppression, 40 years of subjugation, 40 years of fear, 40 years of bleeding the homeland and repressing liberties. I assure you that the revolution that broke out in Tunisia will spread to the entire Arab world. The Arab people have one culture, and we are the children of one Arab nation, and we revolt together.”

Bashar Al-Assad Continues To Rule Like His Father – “Therefore, His Regime Will Fall, Sooner Or Later”

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] How can the Syrian regime be toppled?

“[Al-Atrash] Easily. The Syrian regime is a throwback to the Soviet regime… the era of one party rule is history. I am astonished that Bashar Al-Assad, as a doctor, is unable to cope with the huge changes that are taking place in our region. They continue to use violence, although this card has been played and the whole world knows it. However, the tactics of the house of Al-Assad, the house of Makhlouf, and the house of Shalash have not developed.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] In light of the recent events in Syria…what would you say to President Bashar al-Assad?

“[Al-Atrash] I have addressed him before, during an interview, as a mother or a big sister, telling him that the youth have demands, and that he should give them his ear and listen to them, as well as dialogue with them. However now, after all of this bloodshed, I can only say that it would be better for him and for Syria if he steps down from power. I would tell him, Honor the blood of your people and step down from power with your head held high. You are a dentist, you can return and reopen your clinic and work as a dentist. I would also remind him how my father, Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash, as the leader of the great Syrian revolution, did not look for a seat [in power], although he was offered high positions, but rather he preferred to be of the people and was only concerned with the interests of the state.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] In your opinion, is the Bashar Al-Assad regime approaching collapse?

“[Al-Atrash] Logic says that such rotten systems must always collapse. Autocratic regimes cannot keep pace with the times. I believe that anything is possible.

[Bashar] Al-Assad continues to rule in the same manner that his father ruled, using the same old thinking, which is obsolete, and therefore his regime will fall sooner or later.”

“Whenever We Ask For Freedom and Democracy – They Tell Us That Our Confrontation with Israel Is More Important Than Narrow Domestic Issues”

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] Supporters of President Bashar Al-Assad say that he has refused to bow to the West or Israel, and that he is the guardian of Arab nationalism, what is your view of this?

“[Al-Atrash] Whenever we ask for freedom and democracy they tell us that our confrontation with Israel is more important than narrow domestic issues. They excuse themselves with this confrontation with Israel, and now they are saying that the Syrian regime is nationalist and does not bow to the West. However, we too do not bow to the West, and do not accept anybody’s dignity being harmed. The dignity and pride of Syria will not bow regardless of who is ruling.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] Should the Al-Assad regime fall, what credible names can step in to govern the country

?

“[Al-Atrash] All of Syria is qualified, including but not limited to, Dr. Arif Dalila, who is a prominent economist who has a unique vision, as well as Dr. Haitham Al-Maleh, the well known Syrian opposition figure. There are also Syrians abroad like Dr. Burhan Ghailoun, who is a political sciences professor, all of these names have political and popular weight in the Syrian street. There are many others who would also be able to govern Syria with dignity, for the rule of Syria is not a monopoly for the Al-Assad family.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] Can you put forward a moderate solution to this crisis?

“[Al-Atrash] The truth is that the blood of the martyrs has unsettled my thinking, but we will give him [Al-Assad] until 25 April, which is the deadline that he put forward to reveal his package of reforms… and then we will see what happens.

“[Al-Sharq Al-Awsat] In your opinion, what kind of reforms would satisfy the Syrian people?

“[Al-Atrash] The holding of a national conference to study the different views and visions of Syria’s thinkers and intellectuals for the future [of the country], as well as lifting security from ordinary life in Syria, and putting an end to the bloodshed.”

Israel expects next war against Hezbollah to be much more painful, leaked cables reveal, with 24,000 to 36,000 rockets and missiles expected to be launched at Israel.

Israel expects the next war against Hezbollah will last two months, during which 24,000 to 36,000 rockets and missiles are expected to be launched at Israel − about 6,000 of them aimed at Tel Aviv, Wikileaks documents reveal.

Telegrams sent from the U.S. Embassy summing up talks between American and Israeli officials in November 2009 cite a Mossad official as saying Hezbollah is expected to launch 400-600 missiles at Israel a day − 100 of which will be aimed at Tel Aviv, over the course of two months.

The talks were held between American and Israeli defense and intelligence officials in Israel, as part of the strategic dialogue between the countries entitled the Joint Political Military Group, which was established in 1983. The American delegation was headed by State Department official Robert Maggi and the Israeli delegation was headed by then-Defense Ministry Director General Pinhas Buchris.

This was the group’s fourth meeting.

On November 18 the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv sent the first of four telegrams summarizing the talks, which spanned various issues including the Iranian nuclear program, the situation in Iraq and Gaza, Israel-Egypt relations, the peace process with the Palestinians and Israel’s future war with Hezbollah.

“The IDF and Israel Defense Intelligence argued that Hezbollah’s ultimate goal during any future conflict is to launch a massive number of missiles and rockets daily into Israeli territory, including those that can reach the Tel Aviv area,” the telegram said.

“Defense officials highlighted the continued desire by Hezbollah to avenge the assassination of its former military commander Imad Mughniyah, and pointed to failed attempts to do so in Azerbaijan and Egypt.”

The Israelis argued “smuggling [from Syria and Iran to Hezbollah] represents a strategic challenge for Israel … and is severely limiting its diplomatic options for peace.”

The Israelis said that since the Second Lebanon War Hezbollah “increased its quantity of sophisticated arms with improved range and accuracy.”

Military Intelligence officers presented estimates of Hezbollah’s arsenal in Lebanon. “Hezbollah possesses over 20,000 rockets, hundreds of 220 mm and 302 mm rockets, several hundred Fajr rockets, hundreds of simple anti-tank ‏(AT‏) launchers with rockets and missiles, and hundreds of advanced anti-tank wire guided missiles ‏(ATGM‏), dozens of SA-14, SA-7 and QW-1 anti-aircraft guns, several Ababil unmanned aerial vehicles ‏(UAVs‏), an unknown quantity of C-802 coastal missiles and up to thousands of improvised explosive devices ‏(IEDs‏).”

An Israeli officer said “Hezbollah was preparing for a long conflict with Israel in which it hopes to launch a massive number of rockets at Israel per day.”

“In the 2006 Second Lebanon War, Tel Aviv was left untouched − Hezbollah will try to change the equation during the next round and disrupt everyday life in Tel Aviv,” the officer is quoted as saying.

A Mossad official said “Hezbollah will want to ensure it can launch rockets and missiles to the very last day of the conflict … Hezbollah will try to launch 400-600 rockets and missiles at Israel per day − 100 of which will be aimed at Tel Aviv … [and] sustain such launches for at least two months.”

This means Israel expects a war that would last up to two months, during which 24,000 to 36,000 rockets and missiles would be launched into its territory, about 6,000 of them aimed at Tel Aviv.

An argument erupted between the Israeli and American officials about the American arms supplies to the Lebanese Armed Forces, also known as the

Lebanese Army.

The Israelis complained about it, saying they could fall into Hezbollah’s hands. The Americans said the aid to the LAF was intended to prevent it from growing closer to Hezbollah and stressed the “U.S. support of the LAF as a counterweight to Hezbollah.”

Amos Gilad, director of policy and political-military affairs at the Defense Ministry, completely disagreed with this approach. He said “the Lebanese Army will come to the defense of Hezbollah if attacked by Israel.

Thus, a strengthened LAF hurts Israel.”

This was not mentioned in the discussions, but at the time foreign media reported that an Israeli spy ring had been captured in Lebanon. The Lebanese government said it had caught dozens of Lebanese nationals − some of them former senior military and intelligence officers − following cooperation between Hezbollah and Lebanese intelligence. The suspects had confessed they had spied for Israel and some of them were sentenced to death.

JESUS ANSWERED 3 QUESTIONS BUT NOT IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER! THEY ARE LINGUISTICALLY SEPARATED FROM ONE ANOTHER BY THE FOLLOWING EXPRESSIONS IN LUKE’S OLIVET DISCOURSE:

It was a time period of some 40 years, and the book of Acts validates that all the things found in Luke 21:12-19, did indeed come to pass exactly as Jesus had predicted.

Luke 21:19 – In your PATIENCE POSSESS ye your SOULS.

The word used for PATIENCE is HEPOMONE, which means “the act of ENDURANCE.” It is through trials and tribulation that our faith grows, and a growing faith is one in which the SOUL learns more and more to following the direction of the Spirit of Christ, which dwells alongside it to make up the heart of a saved man or woman. The word HEPOMONE is translated as ENDURE in II Thessalonians 1:4.

II Thessalonians 1:3-5 – We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; [4] So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye ENDURE: [5] Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted WORTHY of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

This is the process of spiritual growth in faith by a SOUL kept by God, as it grows by the trials it ENDURES.

I Peter 1:5-7 – Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

[6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: [7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

By ENDURING through the trials and tests of the period up to the time of their physical deaths, or the leveling of the temple mount, they were to POSSESS, or gain control, of their saved souls by faith through the spirit in the promises Christ had made them. This would assure them of the reward of the crown of life at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

The word HEPOMONE is also translated as ENDURETH in James 1:12.

James 1:12 – Blessed is the man that ENDURETH temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

The word KTAOMAI is used for POSSESS in Luke 21:19, and it is also used for POSSESS in I Thessalonians 4:4.

I Thessalonians 4:2-4 – For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

[3] For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: [4] That every one of you should know how to POSSESS his vessel in sanctification and honour;

Here, the word POSSESS is used to refer to the post-salvation spiritual growth by a SOUL eternally kept by God as it grows through the trials it ENDURES.

It is to gain control of its vessel, its physical body, in the abstaining from immoral acts in it, through obeying the Spirit of Christ that dwells alongside it in the body. Likewise, in Luke 21:19, in the disciple’s ENDURANCE through all the trials of 21:12 to 18, they were to practice the same thing. They were to spiritually grow by the trials and tests they experienced, gaining more and more control of their flesh through their souls growing confidence in Christ, who indwelled them.

The word for SOULS is PSUCHE, and PSUCHE is quite often translated as LIFE. That is the case in the following verses, which refer not to the new birth experience of the SOUL, or LIFE, but to the post-salvation acts of it.

My SOUL is saved, and is definitely going to heaven. But I have a L

IFE to live in my present LIFE. If I do not live it for Christ, I do not lose my salvation, but I do

lose all the rewards I could have received, had I lived it by ENDURING in the faith.

Luke 9:23,24 – And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

[24] For whosoever will save his LIFE shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his LIFE for my sake, the same shall save it.

If the disciples had saved their physical lives by denying him in failing to ENDURE through the trials before the leveling of the temple, they would have lost the rewards

they had waiting for them. But if they ENDURED, they would be rewarded for having POSSESSED their SOULS during their time of testing.
