Iranian president plans to speak at Second Lebanon War battle sites, makes time in Lebanon visit for stone-throwing.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to throw a rock at Israel to demonstrate his hatred on his planned trip to Lebanon, London-based paper Al-Quds al Arabi reported on Tuesday.

Ahmadinejad plans to meet with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, as well as other

Lebanese officials, on October 13. During the two-day visit,

the Iranian president will participate in events near the Israeli border.

One event is the inauguration of a garden in southern Lebanon, during which Ahmadinejad plans to throw the rock, Al-Quds reported.

Another event is the establishment of an Iranian center in the village of Maron A-Ras, where there IDF soldiers fought in the Second Lebanon War.

Ahmadinejad is expected to discuss Israeli-Palestinian peace talks in a speech in Bint-Jbil, another battle site.

Hizbullah operatives are reportedly providing security for the Iranian president on his trip to Lebanon.

TEHRAN – The Stuxnet worm is mutating and wreaking further havoc on computerised industrial equipment in Iran where about 30,000 IP addresses have already been infected, IRNA news agency reported on Monday.

“The attack is still ongoing and new versions of this virus are spreading,” Hamid Alipour, deputy head of Iran’s Information Technology Company, was quoted as saying by IRNA, Iran’s official news agency.

Stuxnet, which was publicly identified in June, was tailored for Siemens supervisory control and data acquisition, or SCADA, systems commonly used to manage water supplies, oil rigs, power plants and other industrial facilities.

The self-replicating malware has been found lurking on Siemens systems mostly in India, Indonesia and Pakistan, but the heaviest infiltration appears to be in Iran, according to researchers.

The hackers, who enjoyed “huge investments” from a series of foreign countries or organisations, designed the worm to exploit five different security vulnerabilities, Alipour said while insisting that Stuxnet was not a “normal” worm.

He said his company had begun the cleanup process at Iran’s “sensitive centres and organisations,” the report said.

Analysts say Stuxnet may have been designed to target Iran’s nuclear facilities. But Iranian officials have denied the Islamic republic’s first nuclear plant at Bushehr was among the addresses penetrated by

the worm.

“This virus has not caused any damage to the main systems of the Bushehr power plant,” Bushehr project manager Mahmoud Jafari said on Sunday.

He, however, added the worm had infected some “personal computers of the plant’s personnel.”

Alipour, whose company is tasked with planning and developing networks in Iran, said personal computers were also being targeted by the malware.

“Although the main objective of the Stuxnet virus is to destroy industrial systems, its threat to home computer users is serious,” Alipour said.

The worm is able to recognise a specific facility’s control network and then destroy it, according to German computer security researcher Ralph Langner, who has been analysing the malicious software.

Langner said he suspected Stuxnet was targeting Bus

Iran’s nuclear ambitions are at the heart of a conflict between Tehran and the West, which suspects the Islamic republic is seeking to develop atomic weapons under the cover of a civilian drive.

Outgoing Gaza Division commander: Next war will be harsh

Between northern brigade exercise and planning next battlefront, Brig. Gen.Eval Eisenberg makes time for special interview in which he warns Hamas of IDF’s vrushing capabilities and doubts necessity for Iron Dome missile defense system.

In another two months, Brig.-Gen. Eyal Eisenberg, 46, will have served as commander of the IDF’s Gaza Division for two years, and thus will finish his time in office. This week, he divided his time between a northern regiment exercise that dealt with one of the scenarios involving a serious incident along the border fence, and planning the next campaign with paratrooper forces.

The next battle, Eisenberg estimates, will be more difficult and more powerful than its predecessor: “We have the capability to deal a serious blow to Hamas. We have many tools, and they are all legitimate, even targeting senior officials. And we should not hesitate to use these tools,” he said

Recently, the IDF has taken note of no small number of attempts made by terrorist organizations to carry out significant attacks against soldiers with an emphasis on capture. Brig.-Gen. Eisenberg discovered that a number of smuggling tunnels in the process of being built were intended to serve as infrastructure for kidnappings.

“It is forbidden for anyone to fall asleep on the watch,” he warned. “We must continue being alert because there is no doubt that there will be another clash here. It is difficult to predict when exactly or under what circumstances, but it will happen.”

Eisenberg also presented a surprising thesis regarding the Iron Dome defensive missile shield system, saying that “it means we are prepared to receive fire.”

For Eisenberg, and he is not alone in this, the current period during the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians is considered particularly sensitive. As Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi predicted this week, it is not out of the question that the relative quiet will be dramatically breached on the backdrop of the talks.

“As the talks progress and Hamas feels like it is being left out, it will likely affect the organizations operations. As the process advances, we are likely to witness an increasingly persistent rise in the extent of terrorist operations. Hamas has not turned into a lover of Zion and does not recognize the State of Israel. I suggest that they test us on this field because we have less performance constraints there than in other areas, and we will not hesitate to use the many tools in our possession,” said Eisenberg.

‘Next round of bloodshed will be more painful’

If Hamas and Israel do engage in another round of bloodshed, it will be a “more painful, complex, and powerful round, with attempts made by the other side to carry out increased firing attacks on the home front; there will be casualties, but we are prepared very well for such a scenario,” said Brig.-Gen. Eisenberg.

Nearly two years after Operation Cast Lead, the division commander admitted that the objective of the defensive of achieving a new security reality in the area was attained, but the calm is fragile.

“We must not accept any violation of the calm in Gaza, and we must take powerful action when this happens. From our perspective, there is one address in Gaza, and that is Hamas. I am not interested in who actually fired the mortar shell. Hamas has already proven in the past that it can prevent such events. Therefore, they are the address. When there is a violation, we send them the message by striking targets,” he said

Hamas, said the Gaza Division commander, has rehabilitated its capabilities since Cast Lead and continues to obtain weapons, train, and receive aid from Iran and Hezbollah. If another confrontation breaks out, cities in centeral Israel are also liable to be hit: “It is no secret that Hamas is working hard on its capabilities to reach the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.

We will not come to terms with such a situation,” he said.

Thirty terrorists killed, about 100 incidents along the border fence, 60 locations where explosives were planted, and about 350 rockets fired – this is the summary thus far of 2010 in the Gaza Strip.

“There are those who will think that these numbers are high, but in reality, this is a tenth of what we had before Cast Lead,” said Eisenberg. “However, we are still at war here. Call it the ‘war of independence 2010,’ a war in which we are prepared to sacrifice what is most dear to us.”

The IDF is also deployed from a defensive perspective. On this matter, Eisenberg is surprisingly nonchalant about the deployment of the Iron Dome missile defense system, saying “Deploying the system means that we are willing to receive fire. I think that we don’t need to get to a situation like this at all, but instead to take action to prevent it to begin with.”

Two difficult incidents along the border fence ended this year with a painful outcome. In March, Armored Corps soldier, Staff-Sgt.

Gavriel Chepitch was killed by friendly fire after he became the commander of a raid and was shot by Golani soldiers who mistook the soldiers for terrorists.

“Chepitch is a hero in my eyes,” said Eisenberg. A week after this incident, Maj. Eliraz Peretz and Staff-Sgt. Ilan Sviatkovsky were killed. “There were a few elements that led to the harsh outcome. We learned some lessons, including an effort to place a new kind of grenade in the vest that decreases the likelihood of injury to the soldier,” concluded Eisenberg.

Galant document bad for IDF

Brig.-Gen. Eyal Eisenberg commanded an elite division in the Second Lebanon War, and was the only one of the senior commanders

of the 2006 war to be promoted to such a central position.

Today, he is a candidate for joining the IDF General Staff and being granted the rank of major general.

Eisenberg is cautious regarding anything related to appointments, despite assessments hedging he will retire from the IDF if he is not promoted.

He believes that his rich operational experience, knowledge, will serve as proof that he is worthy of promotion.

“When I enlisted, I didn’t think I would be a senior commander. I wanted to study product engineering. I had no small number of misgivings along the way. I continued year after year because I understood that I can contribute to the system,” he explained.

Regarding appointments, one cannot help but speak about the Galant scandal that shadowed over the IDF elite: “One would be pressed to say that the matter did the IDF any good. I told my commanders that our performance must not be damaged because of this issue. I also saw that Galant, who was surely bothered by the story, did not veer for one minute from his role, from what we are doing here in front of the Strip. Civilian security was not damaged because of this affair.”

Follow Operation Cast Lead, Eisenberg was reprimanded in a disciplinary action for straying from protocol during an incident in which artillery fire was opened and caused injuries.

“I’m not hurt by that action. There are military orders from which I strayed. I was the first to admit it. I think that the law must be applied to its fullest.

It is inconceivable that whoever sends soldiers on an operation doesn’t act as an example by not shouldering the results of his actions.”

He is aware that he received only a symbolic punishment, but notes that “the very essence of the process is not an experience that I enjoyed, and that is part of the punishment.”

Eisenberg does not believe that criticism of the IDF abroad should cause soldiers to hold back during operations. “We need to act with professional bravery, and not out of any kind of apprehensions,” he said.

Will Netanyahu extend the housing freeze? Will Abbas walk out? Will they sign a peace treaty? When will it be broken? When will the rapture occur, at the first, the middle, the seventh trumpet, or the absolute end of the Tribulation Period

? Are there really seven years left to be fulfilled in Daniel’s prophecy of seventy weels? It is easy to get divided and depressed at all the uncertainty expressed in wrangling by prophetic buffs. Sure, I have answers to the above questions, and I express them, but what keeps me rejoicing is KNOWING Jesus has already won the victory, that I am his child, that he will never leave me or forsake me, and that he’ s coming SOON.

UN Human Rights Council Abuses Human Rights

The recently released UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) report ostensibly investigating the events that surrounded the interception of the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara in May is a modern blood-libel, and another nail in the coffin of the council’s credibility. The UNHRC has two sole functions: to defend serial human-rights abusing nations from reproach, and to revile and attack Israel.

Only 20 of the 47 nations on the UNHRC are considered “free” by Freedom House, an independent NGO which monitors human rights and political freedoms.

This means the majority do not allow basic freedoms for their own people, let alone concern themselves with global human rights. The UNHRC has condemned Israel 33 times out of its 40 country-specific condemnations, while the UNHRC expresses only “deep concern” over Sudan and praises its cooperation. In addition, the UNHRC adopted a unique decision to discuss human rights violations committed by Israel in all of the council’s meetings. The writer is Israel’s deputy foreign minister.

Negotiating in the Middle East – How the Other Side Sees It

As Harold Rhode, recently of the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment, wrote for the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, it is crucial to understand the mindset of our enemies. Dealing specifically with Iran, but implying that the Arab dictators and despots of the Middle East move to the same beat, Rhode concludes that the paradigms that govern U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East today are totally at odds with the paradigms that actually govern the actions of our enemies.

As Rhode notes: Compromise, as we understand the concept, is seen by the other side “as a sign of submission and weakness” that brings shame and dishonor on those – and on the families of those – who concede. Our efforts at compromise, contrition, accommodation and appeasement are perceived as symbolic of our weakness; and our attempts to find common cause with our enemies merely reinforce their belief that we are “paper tigers,” to use bin Laden’s term, and easy prey.

“It is for this reason that good-will and confidence-building measures should be avoided at all costs,” he says, as our Western cultural biases make it easy to misunderstand the true intentions of our enemies.

Our adversaries – Iran, Syria, Hamas and Hizbullah – see “negotiations” and our desire for dialogue as opportunities to “best others, to demonstrate power,” and to make certain that we know who is in control. Under such circumstances, good-will and confidence-building measures by the West are interpreted as a lack of strength or resolve.

Succot: The full circle

The true mission of the Sanctuary – or succa – is to re-create and perfect the earth.

The three major festivals at this time of year – Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and Succot – are filled with drama and pageantry; with the piercing sounds of the shofar and the pleasant fragrances of fruits, with the stark white of the Days of Awe and the glorious yellows and greens of the four species on Succot.

The season begins with the first day of the month which is Rosh Hashana, the anniversary of the creation of the world. The Bible describes it as a “day of the terua [broken sighing and sobbing sounds] of the shofar unto you” (Numbers 29:1).

Is it not strange that the Bible marks our remembrance of creation – world and light – with sounds from a ram’s horn reminiscent of groans and wails? I suggest that the Bible is acknowledging the fact that our world is a vale of tears, that human beings are weak and sinful, and live in the shadow of inevitable death.

But there is another sound of the shofar – the exultant tekiya, which the Bible ordains is to be heard on Yom Kippur (10 Tishrei) on the 50th Jubilee year, during the celebration which marks the return of every individual to his familial homestead, frees all slaves and rescinds all debts, declaring liberty throughout the Land (Leviticus 25:8-13).

This victorious sound reflects the fundamental message of Judaism, the fact that the human being is not only formed from the dust of the earth but has also been “inspirited” by the eternal breath of the Divine. The Jubilee year expresses our faith – which is a divine promise – that human beings have the innate power to redeem themselves and the world, to re-create both in the kingship of God and to bring about a perfected planet of peace and security which our prophets call the Messianic Age.

What we must do, however, is to develop the God rather than the beast within us by studying and practicing the teachings of God’s Torah. And because we believe that the perfection of the world is within our grasp, we add two exultant tekiya sounds to every broken terua when we blow the shofar on Rosh Hashana.

With these sounds we usher in our days of repentance.

Yom Kippur is the Day of Forgiveness. Hopefully by then we shall have successfully reached out to God, and experienced the nearness and goodness of His Presence.

Yom Kippur is the climax of this magnificent feeling. It is not a sad fast day, but a joyous, liberating one; we become freed from the blandishments of food, drink and sexual relationships so that we can fully dwell – for a 25-hour period – in the house of God, “in order to see the sweetness of the Lord and to seek him out in His Tent” (Psalm 27). On Yom Kippur everyone becomes transported to the “world to come,” the world of souls, where the souls of the dead and the souls of the living exist in a totally separate dimension.

With the advent of Succot four days later, we are ready to bring our new-found spirituality into this physical world, to re-create and perfect it. We leave our homes and enter a succa, symbolic of the tabernacle/sanctuary/Holy Temple which we are commanded to build on earth so that the Divine might dwell with humanity. And that Tabernacle is not only the earthly abode for God and Israel, it is a foretaste of a world at peace, a messianic age.

God initially appointed Bezalel as the architect of the Sanctuary. He “filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, understanding and knowledge” Exodus 31:2-3). In Proverbs (3:19-20) the text describes how the Lord “established the earth with wisdom, set up the heavens with understanding, and split the deep to give forth water and the heavens to gently drop dew with knowledge.”

Hence, the true mission of the Sanctuary – or succa – is to re-create and perfect the earth.

That’s why its architect had to be endowed with the same attributes the Almighty used to create the world.

And so on Succot we bring special vegetation – the Four Species – into the Synagogue/Temple, through whose vegetable roof we can see the stars.

And on the last day of the festival – Shmini Atzeret-Simhat Torah – we pray for God’s life-giving waters and take Torah scrolls out into the streets so that every human being may accept the yoke of the heavenly kingship. So we have come full circle advancing from the broken terua to the glorious redemption of the world.

What the Left is really after

The Left’s move from hope to fear to assist its plan to destroy its ideological rival shows that contrary to its carefully crafted image, the Left is fundamentally out of step with the public.

Following the example of its counterparts in the West, for decades the Israeli Left has carefully cultivated its image as the fun side of the political divide.

In a thousand different ways, the public was told that the Left is on the side of tomorrow. It is the home of optim

ism. If you want a cheery future, if you want to party all night long and never get a hangover, the image-makers told us the Left is the place to be.

From the Left’s perspective, the peace process between Israel and the PLO was the fulfillment of its promise. It was also its key to a permanent cultural monopoly and control of government.

Israelis who objected to handing control over the country’s heartland and capital city to the PLO were nothing more than gloom and doom preaching, messianic extremists. The Right was angry. The Left was happy. The Right was the party of war. The Left was the party of peace. The Right was suspicious and tribal. The Left was optimistic and international.

The first blows to the Left’s otherwise perfect narrative were cast just seven months after the moment of its greatest triumph. Just seven months after the epic handshake between Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat on the White House lawn on September 13, 1993, the first Palestinian suicide bomber made his appearance. On April 6, 1994, the bomber murdered eight Israelis on a bus in Afula.

By the time the peace process was a year old, the image of the suicide bomber had begun to eclipse the image of the balloon-festooned peace the Left sought to embody.

It was at this time that the Left could have been expected to reconsider its commitment to the peace process. But that is not what happened. The Left maintained absolute allegiance to the phony peace process. It simply ditched hope.

Quietly but relentlessly, the Left replaced hope for a better future with fear of a terrible future. Specifically, Leftist leaders like Haim Ramon began threatening their countrymen with national demographic destruction.

Ramon seized upon falsified Palestinian demographic forecasts.

He and his comrades used the data – which inflated the number of Palestinians in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip by 50 percent – to threaten their countrymen with encroaching demographic doom.

True, transferring land to the PLO had turned out to be a very bad idea. True life had been better and safer before the fake peace process.

But, the Left warned, if we didn’t retreat to the 1949 armistice lines anyway, Jews would become a minority in our country within 15 years.

It took much longer for the demographic time bomb to be exposed as a dud then for the peace fantasy to explode.

Indeed, Ramon’s Kadima Party still bases its surrender platform on the phony PLO population data.

But today, with even the leftist media admitting that Israeli Jews have the highest birthrates in the Western world and that Israeli and Palestinian

birthrates are rapidly converging, it has become difficult to convince Israelis that surrender is necessary on demographic grounds. Indeed, a poll taken by the post-Zionist Geneva Initiative in 2008 showed that 71% of Israelis were not concerned about losing Israel’s Jewish majority.

The Left’s demographic threats began unraveling just before its land surrender doctrine was wholly discredited. The American-Israeli Demographic Research Group published its initial study that exposed the Palestinian population data as a fraud just months before the August 2005 withdrawal from Gaza.
YET EVEN as its plan of surrendering land to jihadists was exposed as so much idiocy, and its demographic doomsday scenarios were proven wrong, the Left remained steadfast on its course. It simply found a new argument.

Beginning around 2006, the Left began threatening that if Israel does not remove itself from Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem, the US will abandon us. On Sunday night, former prime minister Ehud Olmert presented this argument in his keynote speech before the Geneva Initiative’ s annual conference.

Olmert claimed that if Israel does not retreat voluntarily to the indefensible 1949 armistice lines, the US will force it to retreat. Israel, he said, has no choice but to voluntarily partition Jerusalem and withdraw from Judea and Samaria. Left unsaid was the assumption that such a retreat will entail turning between 100,000 and a half million Israelis who live in the areas to be ceded into homeless internal refugees.

Olmert’s statement is worth considering not because he said it, but because today it is the Left’s central argument for withdrawal. Let us assume at the outset that Olmert is correct and that if Israel does not voluntarily cede Judea and Samaria and partition Jerusalem, the US will try to coerce Israel to do so.

In this scenario Israel faces two possible futures. It can withdraw or it can resist US pressure, try to remain in place and only leave when compelled to do so.

If Israel withdraws it will relinquish defensible borders and clear the way for the emergence of a terrorist-controlled area abutting all its major population centers.

At a minimum, this terror enclave will be in a state of de facto war with Israel as it cultivates warm ties with Syria, Hizbullah, Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood.

In addition to its increased vulnerability to external enemies, Israel will be a society at war with itself.

Its population will be deeply scarred and weakened after hundreds of thousands of Israelis are expelled from their homes.

If Israel does not withdraw, its cities will remain secure and its population will not be in crisis. But Israel will have to contend with a hostile US government threatening to take unknown steps to force it to contract to within indefensible borders.

What will those US threats involve? Washington is already arming and training a Palestinian army. It is already selling the Arabs the most advanced weapons in the US arsenal. It is already providing military assistance to the Hizbullah-controlled Lebanese army. It is already permitting Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

Would Olmert and his leftist colleagues have us believe that the US military will invade Israel to force us to exit Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem?

If that is what the Left is hinting, let us assume it is right.

But if the Left is right, is Israel better off preemptively dooming itself to chronic wars and strategic vulnerability by accepting indefensible borders than by refusing to do so? At least if we refuse to stick our neck in the noose, the US government will be forced to make the case for destroying Israel to the American people.

And then there is the Left’s certainty that it can foresee the future. That would be the same Left that promised us peace, demographic destruction, and that Gaza would become the new Singapore after we withdrew. But even if there is a residue of reality in its new threats, why should we squander Israel’s security based on a scenario that may or may not play out?

THE FACT of the matter is that like the peace fantasy and the demographic fantasy, the international- isolation-and-war-with-the-US fantasy is pure nonsense. None of these leftist scenarios – whether rosy or bleak – have ever withstood the slightest scrutiny.

So what accounts for the Left’s behavior? Why is it that intelligent people like Olmert and Kadima leader Tzipi Livni

and their comrades in the Labor Party and Meretz and the Geneva Initiative are so quick to make insipid arguments? Why won’t they just admit that Israel is better off remaining where it is and not contracting to within indefensible boundaries?

What do they really want?

The answer to this last question is as simple as it is insidious. What the Left truly seeks is not peace or even security. In pushing their land surrender policy in the face of a mountain of evidence that it imperils the country, leftist ideologues and political leaders are seeking to destroy their ideological rivals on the Right. That is, they wish to destroy religious Zionism.

It is religious Zionism, which looks to Jerusalem rather than to Tel Aviv, that drives the Left to distraction.

It is the hope of destroying religious Zionism by destroying the Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria and eastern Jerusalem – the Jewish nerve center of the country – that keeps the Left on its path. This truth was exposed in a Haaretz editorial published in July 2005, a month before 10,000 largely religious Israelis were expelled from their homes in Gaza and northern Samaria.

As the Left’s mouthpiece explained, “The disengagement of Israeli policy from its religious fuel is the real disengagement currently on the agenda. On the day after the disengagement, religious Zionism’s status will be different.

The editorial concluded, “The real question is not how many mortar shells will fall, or who will guard the Philadelphi route, or whether the Palestinians will dance on the roofs of Ganei Tal. The real question is who sets the national agenda.”

So, too, in an interview with Yediot Aharonot in October 2006, Livni castigated religious Zionists as the odd man out that was spoiling things for the rest of the country. As she put it, “In the Israeli political system there are no real gaps concerning the [vision of a] comprehensive settlement of the conflict with the Palestinians. The dispute is between the religious public and the rest of the Israelis.”

In truth, just two weeks before her interview appeared, a Maagar Mohot poll of Israeli Jews showed that 73% of Israeli Jews opposed further withdrawals. At no point has the majority of Israel’s Jews ever asserted that it views religious Zionists as a threat or as the major obstacle to a better future.

Indeed, in a poll published earlier this month by Bar-Ilan University’s Begin-Sadat Center, 79% of the public said they are “not at all concerned” by the consistent rise in the proportion of religious Israelis in the IDF officer corps. Only 1% of the public said it was very concerned about the trend.

What the Left’s move from hope to fear in the service of its plan to destroy its ideological rival shows is that in contrast to its carefully crafted image, the Left is fundamentally out of step with the public. They are not the optimistic side on the political divide. And they are not interested in making our lives better or more fun. They are motivated by hatred of their rivals, not love of country or devotion to peace.

Perhaps the only question then is how many more times they will be allo wed to lead us astray before

we stop letting them define the terms of our national debate?
