EXPOSITION OF ISAIAH 53 – VERSE 2

Isaiah’s Report is that God has extended his right arm to men and women in the person of His only begotten Son to save them from their condemnation for sin.

ISAIAH 53:1 – Who hath believed OUR report

? and to whom is the arm of the Lord

revealed

? (It is God’s Report, but ‘OUR’ is used by Isaiah to include himself and probably to include all those who are sent by God through the ages to be carriers of it as instruments of God.)

THE ARM OF THE LORD IS REVEALED AS GOD’S SEED TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE THE REPORT OF GOD SENT BY HIS PROPHET ISAIAH.

ISAIAH 53:2a – For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground:.

It is impossible for a bone dry root in bone dry soil to come to life and grow. It was also impossible for a virgin to have a child conceived in her without a man’s sperm. Such was the birth of

the only begotten Son of God.

Jesus the man, in whom all the fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily, grew up before the Father as a tender sinless plant with no flaws. Jesus Christ was both God and a perfect sinless man. It was the man, the human will side of Jesus, who was a perfect child who grew, waxed strong in spirit, was filled with wisdom, and upon whom the grace of God was disposed.

Luke 2:40 – And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

It was the man Jesus who increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Luke 2:52 – And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Jesus grew up as a miraculous young tender plant, and became to all who put their faith in him and followed him.

as a mature perfect man who is God’s plant of great renown.

From the throne of David, during Christ’s Millennial Reign, as Israel’s plant of renown, He will feed his flock spiritually of himself as their Shepard, as well as physically as their King.

Ezekiel 34:23,31 – And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

[24] And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it. [25] And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. [26] And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. [27] And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. [28] And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.

[29] And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more. [30] Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God. [31] And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.

ISAIAH 53;2b – He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He did not look like Tom Hanks, Tyrone Power, or Clark Gable. Physical beauty did not draw people to him.

The effect his words of truth had on people drew them to him by his Spirit. I don’t believe he was either ugly or beautiful, but looked like most average looking men.

In fact it was how I envisioned him, after being horrifically beaten such that he must have looked like a skinned Lamb with a crown of thorns on his head, and his blood running down his face, such that one’s visage of him only saw a battered marred body barely recognizable as a human being – It was this great picture of his great love for me that the Spirit used to cause to repent of my sins for which he paid that terrible price, and to come to him with a broken spirit and a contrite heart asking him to save me. Now, Let us go back and pick up the connection with Isaiah 53:1,2!

ISAIAH 52:9 to 53:2 – Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem .[10] THE LORD HATH MADE BARE HIS HOLY ARM IN THE EYES OF ALL THE NATIONS; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. [11] Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord. [12] For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.

[13] Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. [14] As MANY were ASTONISHED AT THEE; HIS VISAGE WAS SO MARRED MORE THAN ANY MAN, AND HIS FORM MORE THAN THE SONS OF MEN: [15] So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

Isaiah 2:2-4 – And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. [3] And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. [4] And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Zechariah 14:9 – And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

Please don’t get the idea I agree with everything in the Excerpt which follows, but I do agree that it is impossible to establish a lasting democracy in either Afghanistan or Iraq. I was certainly in favor of going in and getting rid of Saddam Hussein, who was a megalomaniac, and then leaving the Kurds, Sunni, and Shiites to slug it out until another strong man (hopefully not a megalomaniac) came out on top.

The fact that we went in, and replaced Saddam Hussein, would certainly have been burned in a new strong man’s grey cells for a very long time.

Al-Sharq Al-Awsat Editor: ‘Post-Saddam Iraq was Not in Need of Superficial Democracy… It Needs a Strong Ruler, from the Army… or an Iraqi Ataturk’

On August 4, 2010, the website of the London-based Arabic daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat published an English-language column by its editor, Tareq Al-Homayed, titled “Why Did You Topple Saddam Hussein?” In the article Al-Homayed argues that the U.S. was short-sighted to promote Western-style democracy in Iraq, and that the country instead requires a benevolent but strong non-democratic leader in order to confront the challenges that it faces.
The following are excerpts from the article (slightly edited for clarity):

Al-Maliki is Refusing to Hand Over Power, Just Like Saddam Would Do

“… While the U.S. president confirms his country’s determination to withdraw its troops from Iraq by the end of the month, the Iraqi Prime Minister is continuing to cling to power despite his recent electoral defeat, and Iran is defending him by saying: accept al-Maliki or else we’ll hit you over the head!

“We say that this is strange because an observer can do nothing but ask: in this case, what is the difference between Nouri al-Maliki and Saddam Hussein

? Al-Maliki is saying that Allawi won the elections by only one vote, and that he does not consider this to be an election defeat, while Saddam used to say that the Iraqis had elected him with 100 percent of the vote; therefore what is the difference between them

? The most important question that must be asked here is, in this case, why did the U.S. forces even topple Saddam Hussein, if they are going to allow another Saddam – Nouri al-Maliki – to rise up and appear to us and the people of Iraq, but this time with democratic cover?”

The U.S. was Wrong in Predicting that Democracy in Iraq would Spread Throughout the Middle East

“Washington justified its invasion of Iraq by saying that it was searching for weapons of mass destruction – which it did not find – although the most dangerous weapons were those figures that were governing Iraq under the leadership of Saddam Hussein. The Americans later said that toppling Saddam Hussein would result in a democratic spring emerging not just in Iraq, but the region as a whole; however what is happening today is the opposite of this. The suffering of the Iraqis is on the increase, and the danger that is hanging over Iraq – and the region – is a warning that the gates of hell are opening.

“For all the American talk about the democratization of Iraq, and the necessity of the Iraqi people managing their own national issues, this is nothing more than beautiful talk that is a good excuse for the ugly reality, for what is the difference between Saddam and al-Maliki? What is the situation in Iraq today in comparison with yesterday?”

“It is the Americans Who Corrupted Baghdad … [They] Focused on How to Topple [Saddam], without Putting in Place Any Clear Plans for what would Happen Afterwards”

“What is the extent of the potential risk from Iraq, and within it, following the U.S. withdrawal, in comparison to the risk Iraq represented during the Saddam era? We ask this not out of a desire for the occupiers to remain, but … it is up to those who corrupted and destroyed Baghdad to fix this. It is the Americans who corrupted Baghdad, and it has become clear that all of their plans – prior to the invasion of Iraq – focused on how to topple the Saddam Hussein regime, without putting in place any clear plans for what would happen afterwards.

“Therefore Iraq’s democracy is like somebody who has kidnapped a child from its family, and then abandoned this child in a tough neighborhood… The cultivation [of democracy] must always be accompanied by a parallel effort to construct [the country]. This is what Iraq is lacking, as democracy was imposed upon the country in a completely superficial manner.

“To sum up what the Americans did in the country, they entered Iraq, which was suffering from old age during the Saddam Hussein regime, and subjected it to an extremely difficult surgical operation, and then they asked Iraq on the day after the operation to get up and run a thousand meter relay-race in a region full of wolves!

“Post-Saddam Iraq was not in need of superficial democracy, but rather it was – and continues to be – in need of a strong ruler, from the army, in the ilk of a benevolent autocrat or an Iraqi Ataturk. Such a ruler would prepare the country for the post-Saddam era, ensuring institution building, and guaranteeing that Iraq does not fall into the hands of greedy powers, whilst also protecting the country from sectarianism and in-fighting, and ensuring that Iraq reaches a stage where it a country made up of genuine democratic institutes, rather than a country of sectarian rulers who cannot see farther than the ends of their own noses…”

The Jews looked upon all the Gentiles (non-Jews) as a foolish nation of heathen, not even considering them as ‘a people,’ and it made the Jews jealous and angry when God turned to Gentiles and made the Jewish Temple spiritually desolate.

I HAVE OBEYED HIS COMMANDMENT THAT CHRIST BROUGHT, THAT IN HIM IS THE EVERLASTING LIFE OF GOD, WHICH HE GAVE ME FOR ALL ETERNITY AS I OBEYED THE GOSPEL WHEN HIS HOLY SPIRIT LED ME TO REPENTANCE AND I CALLED ON THE NAME OF THE LORD TO SAVE ME.

Acts 4:12 – Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 20:20,21 – And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, [21] Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

CHRIST WILL JUDGE ME FOR REWARDS OR THE LOSS OF THEM AT HIS JUDGMENT SEAT FOLLOWING THE SOUNDING OF THE 7TH TRUMPET.

I Corinthians 15:51,52 – Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, [52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Revelation10:7 – But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

Revelation 11:15,18 – And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [18] And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

I became convinced the 10 toes/horns of Daniel 2 and 7 would be Islamic before I retired as a member of the USAF Branch of the National Security Agency, and so stated in the first book I completed (Tectonic Chaos) in 1976. I was also confident the Antichrist would arise out of

the Middle East, probably in Syria or greater Syria. I am now extremely confident he will come out of Syria, and expect him to be Syria’s King of the North who counterattacks Israel,

the King of the South, at some point in time prior to 2015. He is likely to be the man who replaces Bashar Assad.

Daniel 11:40,41 – And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. Syrian Press: Damascus Shaping the Region’s Future

In the past year, Bashar Al-Assad’s Syria has succeeded in positioning itself as a regional power and as a key player in handling local and regional issues.[1] This is reflected in the extensive diplomatic activity that has been taking place in Damascus, including visits to Syria’s capital by senior officials from Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. This diplomatic activity has centered around three of the primary arenas currently concerning the Arab world: Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine.

Reports indicate that the discussions in Syria focused mainly on the internal disputes within these arenas, with Syria serving as mediator, rather than on Syria’s bilateral relations with each of these countries.

It should be noted that Turkey has also played a role in this mediation.

The Lebanese Arena: Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’d Al-Hariri visited Damascus on July 18-19, 2010, accompanied by a large delegation of ministers, for a meeting of the Syrian-Lebanese Follow-up and Coordination Commission, which culminated in the two countries signing 18 agreements and memoranda of understanding on various issues.

The meeting’ s importance lay in it

s being the first since Syrian-Lebanese relations fell into crisis following the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Al-Hariri.

After this meeting, Assad and Al-Hariri met privately to discuss the internal tension in Lebanon in anticipation of the indictment due to be published by the international tribunal investigating Al-Hariri’s murder, which is expected to indicate Hizbullah as responsible for the crime. It should be noted that the same issues were also the focus of meetings between Saudi King ‘Abdallah, who is Sa’d Al-Hariri’s patron, and President Assad, a Hizbullah ally, held in Damascus on July 29-30, 2010, before a trip by both leaders to Beirut, which was intended to restore calm in Lebanon.

The Iraqi Arena: Muqtada Al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist movement, and Ayyad ‘Allawi, head of the Al-‘Iraqiyya party and candidate for Iraqi prime minister, visited Damascus on July 17- 20, 2010,

to meet with President Assad and also with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as part of efforts toward forming a government in Iraq. The two Iraqi leaders also met privately.

The Palestinian Arena: Turkish Foreign Minister Davutoglu met in Damascus with Khaled Mash’al, head of Hamas’ political bureau, apparently to discuss the inter-Palestinian reconciliation.

Following are excerpts from recent articles in the Syrian press on Damascus’ diplomatic activity and pivotal role in the region:

The Countries of the Region Are Coming Back to Damascus

The Syrian and Arab press regarded the diplomatic activity in Damascus as signaling the success of President Assad’s strategic approach, according to which the resolution of regional problems is to be achieved not by external forces but by local powers alone, with Syria at their head. In an article titled “The Solutions Lie with Us,” As’ad ‘Aboud, editor of the Syrian government daily Al-Thawra, wrote: “…The greatest step [made] today regarding the nations and countries of our region is the return to Damascus.

If Damascus’s word had been taken into account from the start, things would not have reached a crisis throughout the region. What is important now is that hope has been restored, and the inclination is [to believe] that ‘solutions to the [region’s] problems will come from the region’s countries, not from abroad.’ This approach, which Syria and Turkey in particular have advocated for years now, provides the broadest access to all possible solutions. These issues are our own, and we can discuss [them] without limitations or restrictions, and reach an understanding without any confusion…”[2]

Columnist Ziad Haydar wrote in a similar vein in an article in the Syrian daily Al-Watan titled “The Region’s Future Is Being Determined in Damascus”: “The activity in Damascus [constitutes] a summit of the region’s leaders or their representatives, intended to shape the [region’s] future and advance its stability, especially in light of the special relationship that exists between Damascus and Ankara and the [relationship that has developed] recently between Damascus and Beirut. Lebanese Prime Minister Al-Hariri’s successful two-day visit and his three meetings with President Assad made him a new partner in crystallizing the future of the region, far from the pressures exerted on him and on all the Lebanese.

“Davutoglu’s visit [to Damascus] was concurrent with that of Al-Sadr and ‘Allawi, and preceded by that of ‘Ammar Al-Hakim, chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council [of Iraq], who arrival last month. The main purpose of these visits was to discuss the formation of an Iraqi government in Baghdad…

“[These] recent developments must be linked to the [fact that] elements both inside and outside Iraq [attempted] to establish a government there which is [politically] uniform, but failed, and [now] it is expected that the next Iraqi government will be established in Baghdad, but its [makeup] will be determined in Damascus…”[3]

Elie Shalhoub, writing for the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, also pointed to the central role Damascus is playing in the establishment of a new Iraqi government: “In light of failures [to reach an agreement] in Baghdad, and after fissures appeared in the understandings reached in Tehran, it would seem that Assad is holding all the strings [for forming an Iraqi government]…”[4]

The West Will Be Forced to Take Syria’s Diplomatic Activity into Account

Reporting on the intensive diplomatic scene in Damascus, the Syrian press linked Syria’s recent activity to failed attempts by the U.S. and the West to resolve problems in the region. ‘Aboud wrote: “…American incompetence leaves the Iraqis one choice – to reach an internal understanding vis-à-vis their national unity and the [establishment of] a government which represents Iraq’s interests, and [at the same time] to] to turn to the countries of the region, so that improvement of the domestic situation in Iraq be accompanied by the development of [Iraq’s] foreign relations. Due to its incompetence, the U.S. has sent the Palestinians an old senator [i.e. George Mitchell] who has nothing to offer [but] cries of ‘Oh Palestinians, reconcile among yourselves!’

“Lebanon emerged from crisis only after it sought a solution within itself, and at the same time turned to the countries of the region [for assistance]. We are not the ones currently preventing the outside elements from intervening in our domestic affairs. They [themselves] explicitly declare their inability to propose any solution… We hold our own cards and [have] the solutions to our own problems.

We – Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey – all of us…”[5]

Wasim Al-Ahmar, a columnist for the Syrian daily Al-Watan, wrote: “While Paris and Washington are thinking over their initiatives and [considering] with whom to talk and whom to ostracize, this region is witnessing diplomatic activity whose main axis is Damascus and Ankara. The players on the outside will be forced to take this activity into account and maybe even depend on it, [instead of working] outside of it.”[6]

THE ANTICHRIST WILL LEAD THE 8TH ISLAMIC BEAST WHO CAME OUT OF THE 7TH ISLAMIC BEAST.

HE IS DEPICTED AS THE BEAST HIMSELF AT TIMES.

Revelation 19:19,20 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth,

and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. [20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.

These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

THE APOSTATE HERETICAL CHURCH WOMAN AND HER DAUGHTERS

Revelation 17:1-6 – And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: [2] With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. [3] So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

[4] And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: [5]And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. [6] And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

The “many waters” on which the “whore” (apostate church) sits are identified as “peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.” This great religious prostitute from the truth is identified and geographically located in Revelation 17:18 as “that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. In John’s day that city was Rome. Today, the most widespread religious organization in the world has its tentacles spread across the earth from its headquarters in Rome.

The kings of all the earth have had continuous dealings with the great Vatican government of Rome down through the ages. The history of the Catholic Church has long been one of political involvement in the affairs of nations and kings. Many nations and kings have been intoxicated with her religious wine that dulls the conscience of lost souls.

In verse three John sees the “woman” setting on the back of a “scarlet colored beast.” This is the same beast described in previous chapters as having “seven heads and ten horns” – It is the Antichrist.

Verses four and five are perfect illustrations of all the wealth, pomp, power, ritual, and ceremony associated with the Catholic Church and world religion today.

Verse six requires little comment – hundreds of volumes have been amassed by countless writers attesting to horrible killing and torture of true believers by the Catholic Church before and during the Reformation.

One day she will answer for all long trail of blood of the saints.

The “woman” represents the great apostasy from worship in spirit and in truth. She rides on the Antichrist because she will support him after he drives Israel into the Negev.

The world religious leader will be the false prophet described in the previous chapter. After this all the great world religious leaders will fall into line one by one. Only the third part of Israel driven into the Negev, of which the 144,000 sealed Israelites are a part, and true believers, will fail to accept him as being the Messiah sent by God. The “woman” is the Bride of Apostasy whose destruction is reported by John in Revelation 17:15-18.

Revelation 17:15-18 – And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. [16] And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. [17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. [18] And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

The ten horns are ten Arab kings who will soon come against Israel led by the Antichrist, who is the eleventh horn on Daniel’s fourth beast.

Daniel 7:24-28 – And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. [25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his h

and until a time and

times and the dividing of time.

The ten Arab kings will accept the Antichrist as their leader “for God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” The Prophet Mohammad loudly proclaimed he was God’s prophet, and he was supposedly called by the angel Gabriel. Today some 400 million followers of Allah are scattered across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and southeastern Europe, and they believe that Allah is God.

Allah is a word compounded of the article “al” and the word “ilah,” which means “the God.” I believe some of the Catholic faith will accept the Antichrist as the “O Theos” (the God), and the Islamic faith will accept him as Allah (the God). Most of the many faiths would love to have a flesh and blood man to lead them, one who had built a Caliphate from Morocco to Indonesia. Many different faiths across the earth have multiple gods – some sects in India have hundreds of gods – but each sect always has one god who is more powerful than all the o

thers. All the religions, both small and great, will believe that the beast is that one most powerful god in their worship system.

Unfortunately for the “woman,” the Arabs have always hated religious Christianity, and near the end of the tribulation period they will vent their full religious zeal on the religious woman of Rome.

John attests to the woman’s final destruction by the sons of Allah in verse sixteen – “And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.”
