The following three paragraph quote was taken from an article in the NY Religion & Politics Examiner by Robert Choi dated May 12, 2010, titled “Why Obama removed Religion from national security strategy.”

Kuwaiti Sheikh: Scholars and Preachers Entice Naive Youth to Join Illegitimate Jihad

On February 22 and March 1, 2010, the Kuwaiti daily Al-Watan published a two-part article by Kuwaiti Sheikh Salem bin Sa’d Al-Tawil, which also appeared on the sheikh’s website (www.saltaweel.com), discussing the phenomenon of young Muslims who are recruited for jihadi activities during road trips and summer camps. Al-Tawil cautioned that extremist religious scholars target naive young Muslims who wish to strengthen their faith, and entice them to join social and religious activities at which militant jihad is preached.

Some of these youth are eventually persuaded to carry out jihad operations, at the cost of their lives.

Following are excerpts from the articles, as they appeared on Al-Tawil’s website.

Youth Are Recruited at Mosques, Schools, and Colleges

In the first part of the article, Al-Tawil wrote: “…Many fathers and mothers are pleased that their children strengthen their faith, cling to their religion, and go to mosque… They hope [that getting close to] Allah will improve their children, and that their children will demonstrate good religious conduct. However, at mosques, schools, and colleges, there are people who ‘kidnap’ their children and corrupt their beliefs and their character in the name of religion and strengthening the faith! These people might start by [teaching] our sons to read and memorize the Koran, [but later] they take them on long summer trips or winter camps, during which they strongly influence them with the aim of convincing them of what they call a ‘jihad program.’ Later, parents are surprised [to find] that their child has gone to some unknown place, and subsequently they receive the painful news that he has been arrested.

[Sometimes] the worst tragedy of all befalls them: [they find out that] their child was killed in a suicide operation, or was somehow used as a human shield, or that he sacrificed himself by stepping on a buried mine, or [suffered] some other similar tragedy like those we hear about every so often.

“[Here is] a painful and heart-wrenching story: I received a letter from a young woman not yet 20. S he said that a young man, two years

her elder, had proposed to her when he was still just beginning to strengthen his faith. After he married her, but before the marriage was consummated, he met some young men at the mosque and went with them to see a professor at a shari’a college in Kuwait. [The professor] persuaded him to join them on a summer trip to Al-Medina, during which he would memorize the Koran, in part or in its entirety. [The young man] agreed, and it appears that at this time they all rallied to the task of convincing him [to join] the jihad program. Ultimately, the young woman was amazed [to discover] that her husband had gone to Afghanistan or Iraq. He was never heard from again, and she does not know whether [to hope] he is alive and await his return, or [to consider him] dead and weep for him. She said his mother is elderly and has a heart condition, and that her own father has been pressuring her to divorce [the man] in light of his behavior. The young woman is confused and helpless, and only Allah can give her strength.

“Another tragic story: I received a call from a father who asked to meet with me. When he came to see me at the mosque, I noticed he showed signs of sorrow. And when he began to speak and I heard the story of his son, I understood the reason for the pain on his face. He said his 19-year-old son… had met several young men at the mosque, and was influenced by what they said. He would come home and speak at length about jihad, expressing his desire [to join it]. He said some sheikhs had ruled that he must [go forth and wage] jihad. [His parents] were later bewildered when he disappeared. And several days after that, they received a phone call from Iraq informing them that their son had been martyred…”

The Methods of Recruitment

“Dear fathers and mothers, do you know how they persuade your children, how they play with their minds and lead them to rebel against you? Many perhaps do not know. Therefore, I will tell you their methods, so that you may be vigilant and may [protect] your children before you lose them…:

1. “Some lecturer, or theoretician, puts on a pleasant air and a permanent smile, and earns several academic degrees in order to draw students to him.

2. “He invites students and [other] young men to visit him at the mosque, outside of official office hours.

3. “He focuses on a [limited] number of students in order to handpick those he believes are suited to the jihad program.

4. “He refers to them by names that prepare them for [self]sacrifice, such
as ‘God’s beloved,’ ‘the chosen ones,’ ‘memorizers of the Koran,’ ‘jihad fighters,’ and so on.

5. “He explains to them the merits of jihad, its power and importance, quoting relevant [Koranic] verses and hadiths…

6. “He frequently explains the ummah’s situation, how neglect of jihad or its relinquishment have led to its weaknesses and loss of honor.

7. “He frequently discusses the deeds of ummah’s enemies… how they have acted in violence, caused bloodshed, conquered, desecrated, degraded the Muslims, and plundered the riches of their lands.

8. “[These lecturers and theoretician] use powerfully persuasive pictures and videos showing severed limbs and the defilement of things holy to Muslims.

9. “They show compile[d] video clips of jihad operations – rocket launchings, or [attacks with] small arms and heavy weapons, accompanied by fervent jihadi hymns and cries of ‘Allah is great!’ and ‘There is no God but Allah!’

10. “They target a specific age group, between 15 and 20, with a preference for single young men who have no obligations to wives or children.

11. “They set conditions that enable them to reject anyone they suspect has come to investigate them or spy on them, or to leak information. For example, they require a personal interview before [a candidate] can travel with them or join a military [training] camp or a summer camp, and require [candidates] to memorize five portions of the Koran,

and [set] other similar conditions. [These conditions] serve them as pretexts to reject unsuitable candidates: they explain that [the person] did not pass the personal interview or memorize five portions of the Koran.

12. “They cause [these students] to look down upon scholars and preachers who disagree with their path or ideology.

13. “They convince them that the religious scholars are out of touch with reality, that they [choose to] keep silent or are silenced [by others], or that [because] it is not in their interest to talk about jihad they insinuate to others to speak in their name.

14. “They persuade them that the leaders and governments have given up on jihad and withdrawn from it, or that they do not believe in it in the first place and do not recognize it or its merits, but rather denounce it and regard it as worthless, and fight against it and its people, being satisfied with jihad against their own people and with the exploitation of [their own people].

15. “[They tell their disciples that although] they are [officially] obligated to request their parents’ or guardians’ approval, it is not a condition for carrying out jihad – for anyone who wages jihad, his jihad is irreproachable. Failure to [get parents’ or guardians’ approval] may at the very worst be considered a sin.

But it is well known that a shahid is pardoned from [the moment he sheds] the first drop of his blood – [so] if he has not asked his parents’ permission, or if they have forbidden him [to wage jihad], it does him no harm.

16. “They collect donations in amazing and various ways, competing to the point where some of them say, implicitly or explicitly, that the crises facing the ummah are of great avail, since people donate more in times of crisis than they do before or after a crisis.

17. “They post their notices and posters in the mosques without asking permission. And no one supervises [this], despite the fact that their activity is not connected with the Ministry of Religious Endowments, which, if it wanted to, could file a complaint against their charity work.

18. “They hold sports and horseback-riding activities in their camps, as well as military drills and guard duty, in order to prepare the young men for the fateful hour.

19. “They spread out in various locations, splitting up into cells and squads, so as to be harder to track.

20. “They invite famous people to the opening [ceremonies] of their camps, in order to attract as many young people as possible.

21. “They incorporate religious activities, shari’a studies, and memorization of the Koran and the Prophetic hadiths into their activity, in order to draw as many young people as possible.

“Dear reader, my brother, I have told you their methods so you will know to be wary of them, before they steal your son or brother or [some other] family member – for then you will no longer be able to get him back…”

Recruiters Posing as Saints Are the Greatest Danger

In the second part of the article, Al-Tawil wrote: “…[Previously, I expressed] my sense of obligation to elucidate to Muslims the danger posed by those [who recruit for jihad], even if they [do this] in the guise of strengthening the faith. Moreover, there may be some among them who [genuinely] consider themselves to be doing nothing but good. And this is where the danger lies and what makes the tragedy worse. For these people are not undisciplined heathens; rather, they pray and fast and read the Koran. But theirs are deviant methods and crooked ways. There are fanatics among them who would not follow the truth even if they saw it with their own eyes… [On the other hand,] some of them may [simply] be eccentrics or opportunists, while others join in order to collect donations.”

Jihad – A Supreme Commandment That Has Been Distorted

“No Muslim with even the slightest knowledge of shari’a doubts the fact that jihad is one of the greatest virtues and the pinnacle of Islam, and that its merits and ideals are better known than those of many other Islamic customs… However, our argument with the proponents of false jihad is over the meaning of the term ‘jihad’…:

“Against whom should jihad be waged?… Who is obligated to carry out jihad?… Is jihad a means or an end?… What is the law regarding jihad against a Muslim country that has attacked another Muslim country?… Is a jihad fighter allowed to commit suicide?… Are Muslims obligated to wage jihad against infidels who are significantly superior to [them] in strength, numbers, and equipment?…

“Dear reader, my brother, after these questions have been raised, you [surely] understand that war is no joke, but a grave and serious matter. It [can] involve loss of life, the squandering of money, the collapse of countries, the loss of honor, the dispersing of nations, and the spread of corruption – especially today, when weapons are made to destroy mountains and oceans, to wipe out everything.

Unlike some people think, jihad is not [just] horseback riding, martial arts, morning sports, jihadi plays, a Palestinian headdress and a pair of Afghani pants. [Nor is it] disobeying one’s parents, [practicing] takfir against leaders, blowing up Muslims, considering scholars fools, [joining] clandestine organizations and the secret Emirate, or collecting donations.”

The Preachers of Jihad Are the First to Shirk It

“How dreadful is the jihad they preach! [As a matter of fact,] the preachers and ideologues of jihad are the first to shirk it. They sacrifice others, while distancing themselves and their children from it! [How dreadful is] their jihad, which is nothing but fantasies of the [morally] bankrupt. They have ruined the image of [our] religion and those who follow it, and never stop slandering others… They fear God the least and curse and slander the most. And what is more, there are those among them who beat and kill [people], and others who, if they could, would not hesitate for an instant to deal out death to anyone who disagrees with them over the jihad program…

“I know, dear reader, my brother, that many of the mosque [imams] and the lecturers in the colleges and universities do not adhere to these bad ideologies and deviant ways, and that we must not indiscriminately lay blame on all preachers. On the contrary, there are respectable people – preachers, lecturers, and teachers – who urge the youth to cling to the true faith and the Sunna, [and preach values of] respect for one’s parents, the quest for knowledge, moral behavior and good manners, respect for religious scholars, and obedience to one’s guardians. There is still good to be found in this ummah, and thank Allah that by his grace good deeds are done.”

Jihad Must Not Be Left to the Ignorant or to Fervent Youth

At the end of the article, Al-Tawil answers some questions that may arise regarding his criticism of the jihad preachers and their followers:

“Regarding the question: Why do you condemn [these preachers] for [urging] jihad for Allah’s sake? [My answer is that] I am not, Heaven forbid, condemning jihad as it is commanded by [our] faith. But jihad is a program subject to shari’a laws that cannot be definitively and comprehensively understood unless a consensus has been reached by all the leaders, religious scholars,

and men of influence. [It must not be] left to the management of ignorant people or fervent youths, lest we be made to suffer for the tragedies caused by their poor policies and administration…

“Regarding the question: Do you have no compassion in your heart for them

? My answer is: Of course, there is compassion in the heart of every Muslim for all [other] Muslims. And it is because of this compassion that we do not wish for their souls to be lost in vain. There is also compassion in our heart for the fathers and mothers who may lose their children at any moment in the name of the jihad program. Moreover, it is only fitting that we ask [the jihadist preachers] the same question: Do you have no compassion in your hearts for these young people and for their fathers and mothers?

“Regarding the question: Why do you ignore the contemptible things going on in all the other [summer] camps, focusing on [those belonging to] the brotherhood for the sake of Allah? Why do you not condemn those who go to commit adultery and drink wine

? Why do you not condemn the camps [where there is] wine, drugs, and prostitution? Why do you not condemn the reckless young men who show off their cars and kill themselves and others? My answer is: 1) Who says we do not condemn immorality and licentiousness? Do you think we support [these sinners] and encourage them to sin, or that we are pleased with their deeds?… 3) Is disobeying one’s parents not one of the most egregious sins of all

? Certainly [it is], and therefore we are justified in cautioning against [the jihadists], as they call the youth to Iraq, and so on, without their parents’ permission – with the excuse that parents’ permission is an obligation but not a condition, and that [even jihad] waged without the parents’ permission is irreproachable. But this, without question, constitutes disobeying [one’s parents]. 4) Sins such as adultery, drinking wine, and frequenting prostitutes – everyone knows they are forbidden, even the sinners themselves. [But] this is not the case with those who preach false jihad, [who do not necessarily realize their deeds are forbidden]. 5) Many proselytizers, preachers, and fathers counsel sinners and rebuke them, while it is almost impossible to find anyone who reproaches those who support false jihad.

“Regarding the question: What is our children’s alternative, so that we will have no need for those you have warned us against? My answer is: An alternative exists and is well known, thank God, as there are many young people who strengthen their faith, and [attend] activities, lessons, and lectures which leave them with no need to turn [to jihadi propaganda]…”

Chapter 20 – The Valley of Decision from “Birth Pangs from the Bottomless Pit”

JOEL 3:9-16 – Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: [10] Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

[11] Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord.

[12] Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat:

for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.

[13] Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. [14] Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. [15] The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

[16] The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

Verses nine through eleven describe the final gathering of the Gentile nations for the last great battle of the Tribulation Period, the Battle of Armageddon. Verse twelve identifies a specific valley in Israel where God’s sickle will come down hardest in his judgment – the valley of Jehoshaphat. Some biblical expositors of today locate this valley by identifying it as the Kidron Valley between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives. But I believe this location is in error.

Why? This identification was made by Jerome in the fourth century, more than one thousand years after the death of Joel. The valley of Berachah in II Chronicles 20:25-29 is most likely what was identified by Joel as the valley of Jehoshaphat. I believe this to be the case because about one hundred years before the writings of Joel, Jehoshaphat had won a great national victory in this valley over the heathen nations surrounding Israel. Those nations sought to “cut off Israel from being a nation.” This great valley is located between Tekoa and the road from Bethlehem to Hebron. It is a broad, rich vale, watered with copious springs, affording space for the encampment of a great army of men. Oddly enough, it just happens to be located eight miles west of the geological fault that goes down into the underground lakes of magmatic hell.

When the great sickle of verse thirteen plunges into the earth in Israel, the Jordan Valley press will be full and overflowing with vast hoards of mankind whose “wickedness is great.” Verse fourteen outlines the great number as “multitudes, multitudes,” and identifies it as the time of God’s final decision on antichrist and his armies.

Verse fifteen describes the effect that the volcanic smoke will have on the heavenly bodies as it collects above Israel. Just as the antichrist believes he has won, with his armies controlling the land from Dan to Beersheva, God will have His angel put in the sickle of Revelation 14:19,20, and the valley of Jehoshaphat, plus the Jordan Valley itself, from the Gulf of Aqabah some 185 miles northward, will become a raging inferno (See Birth Pangs 15, 16, and 16A). Verse sixteen affirms that all of this will be wrought by God to demonstrate He “will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”

The raging inferno of the Jordan Valley will be what geologists call a flood basalt plain (See Birth Pangs 15, 16, and 16A). It will extend from the Gulf of Aqabah for some 185 miles (1600 furlongs) to the intersection shown with the off-shoot fissure shown on Figure 26 (Click on Figures at top of this Birth Pang). The penetration of this Haifa off-shoot fissure, via Tel Megiddo, into the long north-south Jordan graben, will not allow the ripping action, described in Birth Pang 14A, to tear any further northward than the 1600 furlongs prophesied by John in Revelation 14:20. The temperature of the lava, which will spurt up as fountains

of what looks like blood on both sides of the Jordan Valley, will be in excess of 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The horizontal heat cloud, released from this sudden ripping, will instantly consume human flesh, eyes, and tongues on contact. When you are made aware that Zechariah’s Hebrew word, translated as “plague,” literally means “destruction” or slaughter,” and that his Hebrew word “consume” literally means “melt,” it is much easier to understand how God, and not man’s weaponry, will destroy the people that have fought against Jerusalem in Zechariah 14:1-3. God’s destruction of these people is vividly described in Zechariah 14:12.

Zechariah 14:12 – And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume

away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

A blast of air, received from being near a sudden basalt eruption, would instantly melt the flesh of a body while it was still standing in place. Most of the antichrist’s army will be destroyed, not by man’s atomic radiation, but by the surfacing igneous fires of our mighty God.

He will sit in judgment in the valley of Jehoshaphat, and his judgment will be a judgment of fire on the evil vine of the earth, which He will cast into his great 1600 furlong winepress.

The region is bounded by the Black Sea to the north, the Caucasus to the northeast, the Armenian highland to the east, the Mediterranean Sea to the south and the Aegean Sea to the west.

Russian president meets Hamas leader before heading to Turkey.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has called on Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal to free captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, Kremlin spokeswomen Natalia Timakova said, according to the RIA Novosti news agency.

The two met in Damascus on Tuesday evening after Russia’s president had held talks with his Syrian counterpart, Bashar Assad, and added Moscow’s weight to a diplomatic push to ease antagonism between Israel and Syria.

During the meeting with Assad, Medvedev warned that Israeli-Arab tensions threaten to draw the Middle East into a new catastrophe.

The two presidents, meeting in Damascus, also affirmed Iran’s right to develop a peaceful nuclear energy program, as world powers press for new economic sanctions to try to stop what they say is really a drive for an atomic weapons capability.

Following his meeting with Mashaal, Medvedev headed to Turkey to oversee the signing of several cooperation agreements, including energy and the lifting of entry visas.

Medvedev was set to meet Turkish President Abdullah Gul at a banquet Tuesday. His official talks are on Wednesday.

Russia is Turkey’s second largest trading partner and ties are flourishing.

In Jerusalem, Israeli government leaders were too busy with the reopening of indirect talks with the Palestinians to gear up in time to seriously forestall the damage to Israel’s interests predicted from expected Russian-Syrian deals and Moscow’s shifting orientation toward the radical Middle East bloc. Medvedev’s surprise meeting with the Hamas leadership Monday was perceived as yet another slap in the face to both Washington and Jerusalem.

President Peres, hurried dispatched to Moscow for Sunday’s events marking the 65th anniversary of the allied victory against the Nazis, found Kremlin leaders deaf when he maintained that Iran and Syria were a danger to Middle East as promoters of terrorist activity. He commented wryly that Syria’s Assad must be the only ruler in the world to treat missiles for Hizballah as a vehicle for peace.

10 Jihad Kings among the Kings of Revelation 19:19!

Part 2 – The 10 Jihad Horns of Daniel 7

At the battle of Armageddon most of the kings of the earth will come to join the antichrist in a final attempt to eradicate the nation of Israel. Among them will be 10 nations representing the 10 Jihad horns of Daniel 7.

Revelation 19:19 – And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

Some three and one-half years before the final battle of Armageddon, which closes the tribulation period, 10 kings of nations out of the territory once occupied by the ancient Roman Empire will attack Israel from the north.

II Thessalonians 2:3 – Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

The last evil kingdom of antichrist on this earth was to initially be composed of 10 nations with 10 kings led by the man of sin himself. It was to arise out of part of the area of the old Roman Empire, and I have always believed it would rise out of the southern half of the Empire, being initially made up of 10 Arab nations. I believe the elements for its formation are in place today, and I suspect that the most likely Arab nations of which it will be comprised

are Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

Daniel 7:23-25 – Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. [24] And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. [25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

When a best selling book was written in the fifties about six emerging European Common Market nations, it began to cause many theologians to rapidly change their minds as to where the antichrist would eventually arise.

Prior to that time most had believed he would arise out of the old Seleucid dynasty, which was formed by one of the generals who divided Alexander’s Grecian Empire into four sections. Many believed the Assyrian, in the fifth chapter of Micah, would be the antichrist, and that he would arise in, and come out of, modern day Syria. (See Nationality of the Antichrist – Parts 1 to 8, in Archive Prophecy Updates 62 to 69)

Before the European Common Market theory arose, a majority believed antichrist would come out of the southern half of the old Roman Empire, rather than out of the European northern

half. But the great popularity of the aforementioned book ascended to the highest levels of acceptability, and previous beliefs were dwarfed to obscurity. The book indicated that the six original members of the Common Market would soon be joined by four other nations to reach ten, and then be joined by the eleventh horn. He was to be the antichrist of Daniel’s fourth beast in chapter seven. However, soon there were ten horns, then there were eleven, then more, then fifteen, then twenty-five, and soon more are likely to be added. But the astounding popularity of this book, and the thousands of preachers and other teachers who have taught it, have left a legacy behind them, and it is difficult to persuade very many they might not be correct in what they have taught, and are still teaching.

I have been very concerned, since the book was published, about the possibility it might cause many to be deceived when he does not arise in Europe, but in Syria. Quite frankly, I watch both

Europe and Syria just like a hawk, and, if I do see him rising in Europe, I most assuredly will accept it. I am prepared for both. But many are so convinced he must come out of Europe, I doubt if anything would change their minds. In any case, in future updates I will show my reasons for believing he will come out of the Syria area.

The beast of Daniel 7:23 does indeed represent the old Roman Empire, and it certainly did tread down “the whole world,” that is, the “known” world of Daniel’s day. Have you ever thought that perhaps we were meant to take the expressions of Daniel’s day concerning the world, and believe that is the only part of the present world the antichrist will dominate completely? (See Archive Prophecy Updates 77, 77A, 77b, and 77C)

The ten horns will arise out of “the whole world” of Daniel’s day. But why do they have to be European nations? Were not Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, northern Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and northern Sudan part of the old Roman Empire under the Emperor Trajan

? And are not these countries the descendants of Ishmael, the first son of Abraham, and Keturah’s six sons by Abraham, and the two sons of Abraham’s nephew Lot, Moab and Ammon by his two daughters? Are not these descendants of Abraham the ones who have hated and battled the sons of Abraham through Israel for many centuries

? In any case, since I believe the attack is likely to occur before 2015, I expect to know where he will arise one way or

the other in the next few years, that is, if I survive the grave before Jesus returns. I am certain such an attack will occur, and I believe the best guess for its occurrence is 2010 to 2015, but I am by no means certain of WHEN it will occur, only that it is not in the distant future.

It may well occur after 2015, but I do not believe many years will pass after that date before it is launched by 10 Arab nations.

Although the Kremlin stated that no weapons deals will be signed during Russian president Dmitry Medvedev’s first state visit to Damascus, Monday, May 10, but they may be discussed and even approved, a prospect which has the US and Israel deeply concerned, DEBKAfile’s Washington and military sources report. These items may well include sophisticated weapons systems which Moscow has withheld from Iran.

Both Washington and Jerusalem were unpleasantly surprised by Moscow’s willingness to provide Bashar Assad with this public shot in the arm just a week after the Obama administration renewed US sanctions against Syria, citing its support for terrorist groups and pursuit of weapons of mass destruction as an “extraordinary threat” to American national security.

Syria is widely shunned in the Middle East itself. Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak brusquely refused to receive Assad for a get-well visit to Sharm el-Sheikh.

The Syrian ruler will not doubt take the Russian gesture as support for his supply of long-range missiles to Hizballah and its substantial enhancement of the of the extremist Tehran-Damascus-Hizballah-Hamas alignment in the Middle East at the expense of the pro-Western moderate bloc led by Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

On April 30, DEBKA-Net-Weekly 443 carried a report on the negative import of the Medvedev visit, but Israeli government leaders were too busy dealing with the reopening of indirect talks with the Palestinians to gear up in time to forestall the damage to Israel’s interests predicted from expected Russian-Syrian deals.

Observers in Washington see the deepening of Moscow-Damascus relations as a failed mark for the Obama-Clinton drive to woo Assad. Some are saying that the Kremlin, for its part, seeks to use Syria as a fig leaf for its deepening crisis with Tehran, following the Russian president’s promise to Barack Obama to back tough sanctions against Iran. This promise was accompanied by Moscow’s secret assurance to hold back from activating Iran’s first nuclear reactor at Bushehr – in breach of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s pledge earlier this month to have the reactor up and running by August.

The Russian president needs to demonstrate that the Kremlin is not in Washington’s pocket on Iran – and certainly not aligned with Israel – hence his show of friendship toward Damascus and a possible major arms transaction with Syria that will give

Iran a back door for acquiring the sophisticated weapons Moscow has denied to date.

In view of this concern, Israeli president Shimon Peres was dispatched to Moscow to attend Sunday’s events Sunday marking the 65th anniversary of the allied victory against the Nazis. He tried to discourage the Russian president from going to these lengths, but failed to obtain a clear response to his appeal from Medvedev.

Isaiah 5:14 – Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Most expositors of today’s popular religious works go to great lengths to work the weaponry of modern technology into the Scriptures. Ezekiel’s wheel within a wheel becomes a flying saucer; John’s scorpions become enemy jet aircraft, and his horses are enemy tanks. But expositors of all ages have vainly attempted to work the weaponry of their age into God’s word, and all have been in error. Please do not misunderstand. I am certainly aware there will be a great Battle of Armageddon, and I realize a large percentage of mankind will be killed by his own weaponry.

And also please understand that some passages in the Scriptures may well refer to man’s weaponry of the last days, but I am simply saying it has been greatly overplayed. The vast majority of mankind killed in the world, even during the Battle of Armageddon, will not be by man’s hand, but rather by God unleashing the natural forces of His creation.

God will destroy man “with the earth.”

Isaiah 5:14 portrays red hot liquid rock from hell pouring out upon the surface of God’s earth. Hell literally enlarges itself by expanding out onto the surface of the earth as God opens the deep mouths in the crust of it (Shown as dashed lines in Figure 3). Hell will flow upward to the surface of the earth without measure.

Today many modernistic theologians believe hell is a mystical, spiritual place somewhere in the mind, a spiritual concept, rather than an actual place of fiery torment. But hell is a real, literal place of fire and liquid hell in the interior of the earth, where the departed souls of all the lost are kept until the Great White Throne Judgment of Revelation 20:11-15. And, where these great interior lakes of liquid rock exist, it is dark as pitch and hot as hell. I believe God has confined the souls of the dead, who died in a lost condition, to these underground liquid lakes of hell.

I know that God does confine spiritual beings to material places.

One such example is found in Revelation 9:14.

Revelation 9:14 – Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

Angels are certainly spiritual beings, and the Euphrates River is certainly a literal, physical place. If you want personal proof, then look in a mirror.

Inside that literal, physical, material body is confined a spiritual soul that is confined to live there until physical death occurs.

Amos identifies the literal hell as a place you reach by digging downward.

Amos 9:2 – Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:

Proverbs portrays hell as existing in the earth beneath our feet.

Proverbs 15:24 – The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Isaiah indicates that hell is located such that it must be moved upward from beneath to meet someone coming down from the earth’s surface.

Isaiah 14:9 – Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

The earth itself is the bottomless pit that enshrouds a literal interior hell of hot, liquid rock.

And it is the upward extension of this hell upon the surface of the earth that will destroy most of the antichrist’s army. (See Birth Pang Numbers 8, 15, & 16)

I call your attention to Part A of Figure 24. Please note that God has very conveniently created a major fault line that runs as an offshoot from the Jordan River Valley northwestward toward Haifa. The placement of this offshoot fissure is very interesting in regards to the Battle of Armageddon.

The fault line runs directly through, and under, a great valley extending from Wadi el Yabis on the Jordan River to Haifa. This great valley, through which it extends, actually consists of two valleys linked together, the lower valley being known as the Valley of Jezreel. Near the place where these two valleys meet, on the south face of its southern bluff, sets the Tel of Megiddo, Armageddon.

The two valleys are often erroneously called the Valley of Armageddon. It is in this valley where the hottest battle of this Gentile Age will be waged. At the same time that God rips apart the Jordan Valley, to create a raging flood basalt plain in the Jordan Valley from the Gulf of Aqabah northward to the place the Jezreel intersects the Jordan plain, the fissure from that point, which extends northwestward to Haifa, will tear in several places to produce cinder cone eruptions along it. This will not be nearly as bad as what happens to antichrist’s army in the flood basalt zone, but it will kill a large number of his troops.

Ezekiel 39:1-6 – Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: [2] And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: [3] And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. [4] Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
