THE JORDAN VALLEY

The plate boundary which extends through the valley is called the Dead Sea Rift.

The boundary separates the Arabian plate from the African plate, connecting the divergent plate boundary in the Red Sea (the Red Sea Rift) to the East Anatolian Fault in Turkey.

The Rift is an incipient oceanic spreading center, the northern extension of the Red Sea Rift, and the displacement along it is oblique, with approximately 10-15 km of extension in addition to the more substantial left lateral (sinistral) strike-slip.

Micah 1:3,4 – For, behold, the Lord cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. [4] And the mountains shall be molten under him, and

the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

In chapters seventeen through twenty-four we discussed the ripping apart of the Jordan River Valley, the creation of a vast flood basalt plain in the wake of its ripping, the division of the Mount of Olives, the destruction of Idumea, the diversion of the Euphrates, and the shutting up of the tongue of the Egyptian Sea.

Now we find Micah’s figurative picture of a great geologic horror wrought by the power of God.

This figurative description, of God’s ability to change the topography of His earth, will be literally portrayed in His unbelievable transformation of the Jordan Valley. The most devastating changes, on the face of His earth, will occur through this great fault block valley, which extends northward through Israel and Lebanon. This great valley is identified as the Arabah Fault on Figure 25 (See Birth Pang Figure menu above).

As you c an see on Figure 27, this v

alley consists of a block of earth held in place by the pressure of two tectonic plates pushing horizontally against it. Deep within this great block of rock and earth there exists a vast lake of hot, liquid rock. Within, and below, this undersea lake of magma, there is a vertical pressure pressing upward on the block.

Only the greater horizontal tectonic pressures restrain the block from lifting, and the liquid rock from rising through the cracks on both its sides. When the horizontal pressure is suddenly released erratically along the faults on both sides of the block, then magma will shoot forth on the surface as great lava fountains. But while this is occurring, large sections of the block will be in a massive up and down motion.

This upheaval will continue for some length of time, but will finally stabilize to produce a completely restructured Jordan River Valley.

The changes anticipated to occur are portrayed in Figure 37.

From the Gulf of Aqabah to the southern tip of the Dead Sea the great fault block will subside as the plates spread apart. After the surface lava cools in this area, a narrow riverbed will exist in its center from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqabah. At the southern tip of the Dead Sea a new elevation of about 200 feet above mean sea level

will slope southward to sea level at the Gulf of Aqabah.

From the southern tip of the Dead Sea northward to Lebanon the block will be lifted by sub-surface magmatic pressure and, while the lifting is occurring, springs of lava will spurt up along both sides of the block.

Once massive lifting has occurred, horizontal readjustment pressure will lock the block into a new, much higher, elevation above sea level. The portion of the block, upon which the Dead Sea lies, will be lifted such that the Dead Sea, now about 1300 feet below sea level, will have a new sea surface approximately 300 feet above mean sea level (See Figure 38). From southern Lebanon to the Syrian Border there will be expansion and subsidence as shown in Figure 37, and from the Syrian border

to northeastward to the Euphrates River there will be massive rifting and subsidence through the Palmyra folds and faults.

All of these fantastic horizontal and vertical adjustments in the valley will produce a new Jordan River system, a system planned, prophesied, and created by God. As the lava cools, and the isostasy balance returns to the Jordan Valley block, one will discover a new river system forming into what Figure 36 depicts. The headwaters of the Jordan River system will begin in Turkey, flow across northern Syria into

northern Israel, move slowly through the Idumean rift, and finally empty into the Gulf of Aqabah. The Euphrates River will be diverted from A to B on Figure 36, and the Arabah Fault will be opened from C to D.

What we know now as the Dead Sea will gradually become an inland lake as most of its salt content drains slowly southward into the Red Sea, and its waters will be used to make the deserts of Israel blossom as the rose.

a protective nuclear umbrella, and the Russians will provide Islam with a protective nuclear umbrella, while Israel and Islam slug it out in a conventional war. Russian and U,S. ships will position themselves in the seas surrounding the Middle East and monitor the situation for some three and one-half years. They will not engage each other in combat until the final battle known as Armageddon, which ends at the Second Advent of Christ.

The S-300 is a series of Russian long range surface-to-air m

issile systems produced by NPO Almaz, all based on the initial S-300P version. The S-300 system was developed to defend against aircraft and cruise missiles for the Soviet Air Defence Forces. Subsequent variations were developed to intercept ballistic missiles.

The S-300 system was first deployed by the Soviet Union in 1979, designed for the air defense of large industrial and administrative facilities, military bases, and control of airspace against enemy strike aircraft.

The project-managing developer of the S-300 is Russian Almaz corporation (government owned, aka “KB-1”) which is currently a part of “Almaz-Antei” Air Defense Concern. S-300 uses missiles developed by MKB “Fakel” design bureau (a separate government corporation, aka “OKB-2”).

The S-300 is regarded as one of the most potent anti-aircraft missile systems currently fielded. Its radars have the ability to simultaneously track up to 100 targets while engaging up to 12.

S-300 deployment time is five minutes.] The S-300 missiles are sealed rounds and require no maintenance over their lifetime. An evolved version of the S-300 system is the S-400 (NATO reporting name SA-21), entering service in 2004.

In February 2010, Russia announced continuation of its initiative to sell S-300 systems to Iran who fear a US-Israeli stealth-led strike on Iran’s nuclear capacity. Analysts suspect that it may be equipped with the same stealth-chasing focused radars that are said to be on the S-400.

Israel’s security suffered a major setback on the eve of its homeland war-safety exercise (starting Sunday, May 23) from three Obama administration concessions that were granted to buy Moscow’s backing for UN Security Council sanctions against Iran. One was the deletion of an embargo on sophisticated weaponry, including the suspended sale

of Russian S-300 systems sought by Tehran for shooting down any US or Israel warplanes attacking its nuclear sites.

As Israel prepared to drill millions of the country’s civilians to prepare for synchronized assault by hundreds of rockets and missiles from Iran, Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, Washington awarded Moscow, i.e. Tehran, three additional gains.

US officials indicated they did not rule out a new round of nuclear negotiations with Tehran – even after the Brazilian-Turkish-mediated enriched uranium deal signed with Iran last Monday, May 17.

And on Friday, May 21, the administration scrapped sanctions against the Russian state arms export agency and three other Russian entities that were penalized in the past for transferring sensitive technology or weapons to Iran.

Also lifted were sanctions against a fourth Russian entity for illicit arms sales to Syria, including technology for developing the very missiles against which Israel’s five-day exercise is preparing the public next week.

Our Washington sources report that the Obama administration bought Russia’s backing for a weak UN sanctions resolution by giving way on penalties detrimental to Iran’s economy or impeding its nuclear program.

America thus opened the door for Russia to start training Iranian S-300 missile crews – without Israeli raising its voice in protest in either capital.

(On May 19, DEBKAfile disclosed for the first time that these crews were already in training at Russian military bases.)

Tzachi Hanegbi, chairman of the Knesset foreign affairs and security committee, reaffirmed in a TV Channel One interview Friday night that a nuclear-armed Iran would imperil Israel’s very existence. He, like many other Israelis in official positions, strongly gainsays assertions to the contrary by defense minister Ehud Barak.

Saturday, after the new US concessions came to light, administration officials tried to allay criticism in Congress by claiming that Moscow had improved its performance on Iran and would stand by its understanding with Washington not to proceed with the S-300 sale.

However, the training of Iranian operating crews looks more like bringing the sale forward than holding it back.

DEBKAfile’s Iranian sources point out that in five short days – since accepting the Brazilian-Turkish uranium swap deal – Tehran has substantially enhanced its international and strategic position in four critical areas:

1. Tough UN sanctions are off the table, leaving individual governments the freedom to proceed, or not, with unilateral penalties against Iran’s nuclear violations.

2. The heavily-diluted UN draft omits any mention of energy bans, such the refined oil products, a provision formerly advocated by Washington as the most effective means of forcing Iran to abandon its drive for a nuclear weapon.

3. Not only has the notion of a sea blockade gone by the board, but heavy restrictions are clamped down on searches of vessels suspected of carrying contraband military or nuclear cargoes, for which permission must now be requested by the nation flagged. This allows Iran and Syria to safely import nuclear materials and missiles by sea without fear of interception. Even before the haggling begins, therefore, the new “sanctions” draft before the UN Security Council scarcely answers to its description.

4. The Obama administration’s inclination to treat the new uranium exchange deal brokered by Brazil and Turkey as the Six-Power Group’s springboard for bringing Tehran back to the negotiating table offers Iran the gift of more time and space to achieve its ultimate objective of a nuclear weapon.

5. Military sources point out to DEBKAfile, that Washington’s uneven and inconsistent approach to Iran and Syria make naught of the protestations made by President Obama and other US officials of their unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security. The unhindered delivery of S-300 missiles to Iran, like the latest Russian arms deal with Syria, substantially offsets Israel’s capacity to deter its enemies. Not only are its air force pilots placed in harm’s way; so too is the country’s entire population.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report a decision by the Obama administration to boost US military strength in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf regions in the short term with an extra air and naval strike forces and 6,000 Marine and sea combatants. Carrier Strike Group 10, headed by the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, sails out of the US Navy base at Norfolk, Virginia Friday, May 21. On arrival, it will raise the number of US carriers off Iranian shores to two.

Up until now, President Barack Obama kept just one aircraft carrier stationed off the coast of Iran, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Arabian Sea, in pursuit of his policy of diplomatic engagement with Tehran.

For the first time, too, the US force opposite Iran will be joined by a German warship, the frigate FGS Hessen, operating under American command.

It is also the first time that Obama, since taking office 14 months ago, is sending military reinforcements to the Persian Gulf.

Our military sources have learned that the USS Truman is just the first element of the new buildup of US resources around Iran. It will take place over the next three months, reaching peak level in late July and early August.

By then, the Pentagon plans to have at least 4 or 5 US aircraft carriers visible from Iranian shores.

The USS Truman’s accompanying Strike Group includes Carrier Air Wing Three (Battle Axe) – which has 7 squadrons – 4 of F/A-18 Super Hornet and F/A-18 Hornet bomber jets, as well as spy planes and early warning E-2 Hawkeyes that can operate in all weather conditions; the Electronic Attack Squadron 130 for disrupting enemy radar systems; and Squadron 7 of helicopters for anti-submarine combat (In its big naval exercise last week, Iran exhibited the Velayat 89 long-range missile for striking US aircraft carriers and Israel warships from Iranian submarines.)

Another four US warships will be making their way to the region to join the USS Truman and its Strike Group.

They are the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy and guided missile destroyers USS Winston S. Churchill, USS Oscar Austin and

USS Ross.

DEBKAfile’s military sources disclose that the 6,000 Marines and sailors aboard the Truman Strike Group come from four months of extensive and thorough training to prepare them for anticipated missions in the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean.

Although I have said since 2006 that I expected the final war of the Gentile Age to begin at some point in time between 2010 and 2015, I do not believe it is likely to begin this year. There is too much saber rattling and direct revelation of intent on the Islamic side about the immediacy of this predicted summer war to suit my fancy for it to be a genuine prelude for an all out

war this summer. But there is no doubt in my mind that

the final war will suddenly break out prior to 2015, and that its final battle will occur some three and one-half years later at Armageddon.

Whatever you intend to do with the Lord, for the Lord, or about the Lord, all I can do is warn you that you had better get at it!

Hizbullah prepares for IDF drill

Kaouk: If Lebanon is attacked, Israelis will find no place to hide

Hizbullah is moving forces in anticipation of the IDF’s planned week-long civil defense drill, the group’s commander in south Lebanon, Nabil Kaouk, said Friday.

The drill, which starts Sunday, will include a yet untested scenario – a Hizbullah attack on Israel’s national water carrier.

“A few thousand Hizbullah warriors will not be able to go and vote in next week’s round of local elections,” Kaouk said, implying that the terrorist organization would be heavily occupied with the goings-on in Israel at that time.

He added that Hizbullah forces would be prepared for all eventualities, warning that if Lebanon was attacked, “Israelis will not be able to find any place to hide” from Hizbullah’s retaliation.

In related news, Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah was expected to give a speech on Friday afternoon, mainly on the internal situation in Lebanon. However, he likely referred to regional tensions as well.

So Cyrus divided the river Gyndes, which retarded his march against Babylon, into three hundred sixty streams, so that even a woman could cross it [Herodotus, 1.189]. “The river” is the Euphrates, the obstruction to Israel’s return “from Assyria” (Isa 11:16), a type of all future impediments to the restoration of the Jews.

In Birth Pang Number 21, Chapter 23, proof that “the river” of verse 15 is the great Euphrates River was fully exposited. We were advised that God will smite it and, as a result, it will be subdivided into seven smaller streams.

The question then arises as to the geographical location on the Euphrates that will be smitten by God. At what point will God strike the Euphrates to dry up the southern part, and turn the northern section into seven smaller streams? I call your attention to Figure 35 for the answer to this question.

The same God who inspired this Scripture has created a long zone of structural weakness in the crust of the earth – a weakness that extends northeast from the headwater tributary system of the Jordan River

across Syria, making contact with the Euphrates between Dayr az Zwar and Abu Kama.

This structural weakness consists of the an elongated area of major faults and folds in the earth’s known as the Palmyra belt. Please observe on Figure 35 that this belt of folds and faults links the northern Jordan and Euphrates Rivers together.

The Euphrates is one of the greatest carriers of topsoil silt on the face of the earth. It tears it from Turkish mountainsides and carries it through the Fertile Crescent of Syria and Iraq into the Persian Gulf. The land delta of the Persian Gulf is one of the fastest growing deltas on the earth.

This growth is produced by massive influxes of silt carried into the Persian Gulf by the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers.

Isaiah indicates that God will smite the Euphrates into seven sub-streams. This will occur in the zone of the earth that begins on the Euphrates in the vicinity of El Rashid, Syria, and then continues southwestward into extreme northern Israel near Dan. When the Arabah fault (See Figure 25) is ripped open from the Gulf of Aqabah to Lebanon, the fantastic shaking will cause the Palmyra fault zone to collapse, and the Euphrates River will be diverted across this crumbled

zone of rock and earth to link up with the northern headwaters of the Jordan.

Whenever a sediment-carrying river moves into a zone with more sediment than it can carry due to deceleration, then it invariably produces what geologists call “a braided river.” A braided river is the division of a single river into many streams. Isaiah counted seven.

Seven streamlets will weave their way southwestward through the newly formed cracks in the Palmyra

Weakness, and will eventually feed into the northern tributary system of the Jordan River. It will be what geologists refer to as “headwater piracy”—piracy by the Jordan upon the Euphrates.

The additional waters, fed into the Jordan River system, will add more water and topsoil than Israel can use during

the millennial reign of Christ.

Israel will become the breadbasket of the world.

We are advised by John in Revelation 16:12 as to the effects of this massive water diversion into the upper Jordan.

The section of the Euphrates to the east of Israel will go dry. It will then be possible for the kings of the east to wade in sandals any water lying before them on their way to Israel. Figure 36 shows the combined effects of the drying up of the Euphrates, and the Idumean opening of a Jordanian drainage through the Arabah desert into the Red Sea. (See Birth Pang Numbers 15 and 16)

Numbers 24:12-14 & 23-25 – And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying, [13] If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak? [14] And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people IN THE LATTER DAYS. [23] And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live w

hen God doeth this! [24] And SHIPS shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever. [25] And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.

The Hebrew word for “SHIPS” is specific in that it means “ships in place as a fixture” (Strong’s), which has been the case for U.S. ships for a long time in the Middle East.

Chittim Or Kittim, a plural form (Gen 10:4), the name of a branch of the descendants of Javan, the “son” of Japheth. Balaam foretold (Num 24:24) “that ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and afflict Eber.” Daniel prophesied (Dan 11:30) that the ships of Chittim would come against the king of the north.

It probably denotes Cyprus, whose ancient capital was called Kition by the Greeks. The references elsewhere made to Chittim (Isa 23:1, Isa 23:12; Jer 2:10; Eze 27:6) are to be explained on the ground that while the name originally designated the Phoenicians only, it came latterly to be used of all the islands and various settlements on the sea-coasts which they had occupied, and then of the people who succeeded them

when the Phoenician power decayed. Hence it designates generally the islands and coasts of the Mediterranean and the races that inhabit them. (Sacred Texts)

Ezekiel 38:13 – Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey

? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Verse 13 mentions three other descendants which were not mentioned previously as being among the horde that attacked Israel, namely, Sheba, Dedan, and Tarshish. Sheba and Dedan settled in the land we know as Saudi Arabia, later colonizing across the Red Sea in the horn we know today as Ethiopia. Tarshish is much harder to nail down to a specific location.

The descendants of Tarshish were sea merchants who became the peoples of the Mediterranean Sea coast. The headquarters of the descendants of Tarshish is now generally accepted by most biblical authorities as a district in the south of Spain where the city of Tartessus once existed.

The merchants of Tarshish scattered their descendants in village settlements along most of the coastal sections of Europe. I am persuaded that Europe represents the descendant offspring of Tarshish. I also believe it is reasonable to look upon the rest of Western Civilization as being the offspring (descendants) of Europe (“the young lions thereof”). The countries of the New World became the “melting pot” of Europe. It is very interesting what Saudi Arabia, Europe, and the rest of Western Civilization have to say to Gog about his attack on Israel: “Art thou come to take a spoil? Hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? To carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?” This is no more or less than the perfect description of a diplomatic protest to Gog’s actions. When the anti-Christ and his armies roar south into Israel in a blitzkrieg lightning strike, the rest of the free world will protest, protest, protest – and do nothing about it.

The anti-Christ will take Jerusalem within a week of his initial strike in the north, and within three weeks most of Israel will have fled into the Negev south of Beersheva, where she will remain for some three and one-half years. Jerusalem will fall and only one-third of Israel’s population will make it safely into the Negev.

Western and Eastern powers will have their ships remain in foxed positions in the seas surrounding the Middle East to provide a fixed nuclear umbrella for whoever they support, and to act as a threat to both Islam and Israel of what will happen if either one uses nuclear weapons. I do not believe all the nations of the world will fight until the Russian bear comes down from his habitant in the ‘Land of Magog” to join the Islamic Antichrist Gog (The Chief Prince of Meshech and Tubal) at the final battle of the great Tribulation Period, which is Armageddon. It will be ended and won by the Second Advent of Messiah.

Obama starts massive US Air-Sea-Marine build-up opposite Iran

DEBKAfile’s military sources report a decision by the Obama administration to boost US military strength in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf regions in the short term with an extra air and naval strike forces and 6,000 Marine and sea combatants. Carrier Strike Group 10, headed by the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, sails out of the US Navy base at Norfolk, Virginia Friday, May 21. On arrival, it will raise the number of US carriers off Iranian shores to two. Up until now, President Barack Obama kept just one aircraft carrier stationed off the coast of Iran, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Arabian Sea, in pursuit of his policy of diplomatic engagement with Tehran.

For the first time, too, the US force opposite Iran will be joined by a German warship, the frigate FGS Hessen, operating under American command.

It is also the first time that Obama, since taking office 14 months ago, is sending military reinforcements to the Persian Gulf. Our military sources have learned that the USS Truman is just the first element of the new buildup of US resources around Iran. It will take place over the next three months, reaching peak level in late July and early August. By then, the Pentagon plans to have at least 4 or 5 US aircraft carriers visible from Iranian shores.

The USS Truman’s accompanying Strike Group includes Carrier Air Wing Three (Battle Axe) – which has 7 squadrons – 4 of F/A-18 Super Hornet and F/A-18 Hornet bomber jets, as well as spy planes and early warning E-2 Hawkeyes that can operate in all weather conditions; the Electronic Attack Squadron 130 for disrupting enemy radar systems; and Squadron 7 of helicopters for anti-submarine combat (In its big naval exercise last week, Iran exhibited the Velayat 89 long-range missile for striking US aircraft carriers and Israel warships from Iranian submarines.)

Another four US warships will be making their way to the region to join the USS Truman and its Strike Group. They are the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy and guided missile destroyers USS Winston S. Churchill, USS Oscar Austin and USS Ross.

DEBKAfile’s military sources disclose that the 6,000 Marines and sailors aboard the Truman Strike Group come from four months of extensive and thorough training to prepare them for anticipated missions in the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean.

THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MAHDI ANTICHRIST’S GREAT CALIPHATE!

After the Antichrist conquers Egypt the initial ten Islamic countries that supported him will be quickly joined by a multiplicity of Islamic nations.

His great Caliphate will include Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, all the countries that make up the Saudi Arabian Peninsula, Israel north of Beersheba, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, many of the southern states of the former Soviet Union with large Arab populations, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

Having gone to military schools, lived among, worked with, and trained those of the Islamic faith as a much younger man, plus being familiar with prophecy since my youth, I have not only been waiting for many years for the true Messiah, Jesus Christ, but I have also been waiting for the arrival of the 12th Imam on the scene prior to the arrival of Jesus. I have long believed the 12th Imam Mahdi will be the 11th little horn of Daniel, and the beast of John’s Revelation. His coming is the great hope of all Islam. The Iranian President is a fanatical believer of his coming, and believes Mahdi will cause universal acceptance of Allah.

For more than three years, with the Suez Canal under his control, he will gain worldwide recognition and acclaim in his capital city of Cairo. Israel will be trapped in the Negev for more than three years (See previous updates), and stability will have come to the troubled Middle East.

He will supposedly have done what all nations say they are seeking, that is, brought stability to the Middle East. But, between the third and fourth year of his rule, something will cause him to quickly head for Jerusalem.

Daniel 11:44,45 – But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly

to make away many. [45] And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

Please bear in mind that Daniel does not bring him out of the Egypt he has conquered until verse 44, and that he heads back for the glorious holy mountain, which is the middle hill of the three hills upon which the eastern part of the city of Jerusalem rests. It is better known as the Mount of Moriah, where the first three temples sat, and is located between two seas, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Dead Sea. Before the mighty former Soviet Union of Joseph Stalin arose, some identified this troubling news out of the north as being about Attila the Hun, after him it was about the German Kaiser of WW1, then about Hitler of WW2, and so forth and so on. Before the great communist revolution of Mao brought forth the present huge sleeping giant of Red China, some identified the troubling news out of the east as being about Genghis Khan, the great Mongol conqueror from the east. But modern day expositors generally now tend to make it news concerning Russia in the north and China in the east. I do not believe it is either. When Daniel wrote his book, it was written to the people of his day. So it is important to consider what they knew to be immediately to the north and to the east of Egypt. But before we discuss what was, and still is, immediately north of Egypt, and what was, and still is, immediately east of Egypt, let me advise you why I do not believe it involves Russia or China. Get out a world map and measure how far it is from Cairo to the borders of China and Russia. The population of Russia today is more than 150 million, and the population of China is more than 1 billion, 300 million.

Do you really think he is going to take them on? And are they not supposed to join forces with him at the final battle of Armageddon? If he were, it would be rank insanity to return to Jerusalem to take them on! And, besides all that, the land we know as China and Russia, for all practical purposes, was perhaps mentioned only in fables in Daniel’s day. Do you really think he will “go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly make away many” from two distant, vast, countries with a combined population of almost one and one-half billion?

So what is immediately north of Egypt? What touches its northern border? The Mediterranean Sea! And what land is immediately east of Egypt? What touches its eastern border? The Negev! And what could possibly be in the Mediterranean Sea that would trouble him? The U.S. Fleet! And what could possibly be in the Negev that would trouble him? Between 1.7 and 1.9 million Israelis! The U.S. Navy & Marine Corps publish periodical “TRANSITIONS” of “All the Ships at Sea.” You will find it amazing how many vessels we routinely have on scheduled patrols in the Mediterranean Sea. We keep a carrier constantly on station patrolling that section of the Mediterranean immediately south of Turkey and north of Egypt. The carriers USS Enterprise and the USS Theodore Roosevelt have often relieved each other on this permanent patrol station, along with other carriers. There is also a report issued periodically on marine units deployed on the many ships that patrol the seas of the Middle East from the Mediterranean through the Red Sea into the Indian Ocean and up into the Persian Gulf. It is simply called “All the Marines Deployed.” The U.S. Marines and IDF have been conducting joint operations in the Negev off and on for some 25 years.

So the antichrist has had Israel bottled up in the Negev for more than three years at this future point in time. I believe the news he hears is simply this: the U.S. Marines and IDF are planning to close his rear flank back

to the country from which he originally came, Syria. He will have left a strip heavily fortified across Gaza and the northern Sinai, but he will begin to have reservations about the ability of his troops to hold it. He will then head back for Jerusalem to finally do what he wishes he had previously done, that is, to end the Jewish problem. He will “go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.” He will super fortify the northeast Sinai and Gaza Strip, and head northeast to Jerusalem to prepare for the destruction of Israel in the Negev.
