By the time the first “woe” begins, on the sounding of the fifth trumpet in the book of Revelation, I think about 5 months of great tribulation will continue on the earth. By the time the last “woe” occurs on the sounding of the seventh and last trumpet, a complete cloud shroud will have been built over the entire earth from the base of the tropopause upward deep into the stratosphere. Some light will pass through it as it does even on a dark overcast rainy day, but man will not see the sun directly until the brilliant light of the glory of the person of Christ breaks through the cloud over Jerusalem to close the Tribulation Period at His Second Advent.

These six factors have never been as evident as they are now, and while I cannot be certain as to precisely when it will begin, I am convinced it will begin before 2015. Water in Israel is much more valuable than oil or gold. Water is in very short supply in all of Israel, and an every increasing demand ranks it at the top of national interest. Herman and explored all five of the upper Jordan spring-fed tributaries.

Israeli officials have been closely observing water being pumped from the Wazzani River, which is a tributary of the Hatzbani River. The Hatzbani flows into the the Sea of Galilee, which empties into the Jordan. The last time I was in Israel, just before the intifada, the Lebanese had already begun to pump water by a pipeline extending in

to the Wazzani. Shortly after I returned to the United States they installed a much larger pipe, and now they are installing one almost a foot and a half in diameter. One that large can pump a lot of water. Lebanon claims it is only pumping about five million cubic meters a year, and that it is entitled to fifty million cubic meters according to international water treaties. Israel claims that when the current project is completed

by Lebanon, then some twenty-five percent of the Wazzani’s flow will be drained off by its northern neighbor each year.

After a form of “forced peace” has lulled Israel into a false sense of security, within a short period of time after this state of “a false peace” is in place, I am convinced that the Islamic nations will want Israel to appear to be the aggressor when they launch a surprise Jihah against it. The bait used may be a move to threaten Israel’s water supply, or a launching of rockets across the border by Hizbollah. Israel has repeatedly warned both Syria and Lebanon that either of these could lead to a cross-border strike by IDF forces to cleanup the problem.

PM Warns Lebanon Over Wazzani Waters

Israel will not accept Lebanese plans to draw additional water from the Wazzani River, which ultimately flows into Lake Kinneret, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon warned Tuesday.

Israel Radio said the government had relayed its concern to Lebanon along with calls to stop the project.

According to reports in the Lebanese press, work on laying 16-inch diameter pipes to be used to convey water from the Wazzani, a tributary of the Hatzbani, to towns and villages in south Lebanon has been completed.

The next stage of the project is slated to involve the construction of an enlarged pumping station and a reservoir from where the water will be channelled into the pipeline.

The entire project, being carried out by the Council of the South which is affiliated with Amal and its leader, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Beri, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

So far the Lebanese government has rejected Israel’s warnings and international pressure to stop the project which Sharon was quoted as saying was in breach of previous water treaties, including unwritten accords.

There are no accurate assessments of how much the Lebanese pumping project would drain from the Hatzbani and ultimately the Kinneret, although some estimates have put the amount as high as 50 million cubic meters a year.

This is the equivalent of the quantity Israel intends to import from Turkey each year, as well as the total annual production capacity of a major seawater desalination unit.

Could water ignite the next war?

Israel’s 62 years have been marked by some 30 military clashes over this natural resource.

If the last two decades have been marked by wars over oil, the coming decades could see conflict over a much more precious commodity, water. By mid-century more than half of humanity will be facing water shortages, particularly in the Middle East, according to a UN report,

as supply and demand move dramatically in opposite directions.

Talk of Mideast peace focuses on borders, refugees, settlements and Jerusalem, but water may be the greatest – and most neglected – hurdle in an area where consumption far exceeds supply.

A severe freshwater crisis threatens the standard of living, political stability and security throughout the region. The crisis knows no national boundaries and is the most dramatic symbol of the interdependency of the region’s inhabitants. Scientists and policy makers agree that solutions require international cooperation in a region where history has shown it easier to hate than to help each other.

The rain that falls and the snow that melts in one country flows across borders, and when that flow is threatened, as in 1967 (shortly before the Six Day War) when Syria tried to dam the Yarmuk River, which feeds the Jordan River, conflict can erupt. Israel bombed the dam.

THIS WEEK a top State Department official is visiting Israel, Jordan and Egypt in a diplomatic effort to spur regional water sharing and cooperation.

Jon B. Alterman of the Center for Strategic and International Studies says water, not war, is “the most likely source of political and social unrest in the Middle East over the next 20 years.” The underground aquifers are a finite resource “being exploited far beyond their capacity to restore themselves.” And as they are drained, wells have to be dug deeper and deeper and the water is less pure.

Geologists warn that Amman may have only 15 more years of water.

According to a report in this month’s National Geographic, “The Jordan River is now depleted by drought, pollution and overuse… The lower Jordan is practically devoid of clean water, bearing instead a toxic brew of saline water and liquid waste.”

In Syria hundreds of thousands of families have had to leave agricultural areas for lack of water and move to the cities, according to a UN report.

Poor water management by the government and a lack of modernized agriculture has combined with the water shortage to exacerbate the crisis.

Nonetheless, Israeli requests to discuss water cooperation have been rebuffed by Damascus, according to Bloomberg News.

The World Bank contends Israelis consume four times as much water per capita as Palestinians, but the Israeli government insists the real number is half that. Amnesty International has accused Israel of neglecting the water needs of Palestinians through discriminatory and restrictive policies, but Israel insists it is meeting its obligations under the Oslo Accords.

Israel charges the Palestinians have “significantly violated their commitments” by failing to build sewage treatment plants, by drilling unauthorized wells, refusing to purify and reuse sewage for agriculture, dumping sewage into streams and not taking advantage of water desalination opportunities.

Palestinians accuse Israel of stealing their water, leaving thousands of homes dry, and insist that the security barrier cuts farmers off from their water supply.

An attempt by the European Union to develop a regional water management strategy broke down earlier this month when Israel and the Arabs could not agree on how to refer to the West Bank and Gaza even though, according to news reports, there was extensive agreement on technical issues related to water management.

ISRAEL’S 62 years have been marked by some 30 military clashes over water, as Syria, Lebanon and Jordan tried at various times to divert the Banyas, Dan, Hasbani and Yarmuk rivers to cut their flow into Israel, and Arabs attacked Israel’s National Water Carrier.

Israel may be water poor but it is rich in water use technology and one of the world’s most scientifically advanced agricultural nations. Making the desert bloom is more than a slogan.

But its higher standard of living and industrialization also mean greater water consumption.

The water crisis in the Arab world is compounded by growing demand, highly inefficient usage, government corruption, domestic instability and poor management, say international experts, leading to inadequate supply, which could spark domestic hostilities as well as conflict with neighboring countries.

Jordan and Israel have been discussing sending water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea, desalinating some along the way for human use, producing hydroelectricity and restoring the shrinking Dead Sea.

Water is a strategic, economic, humanitarian, public health and political issue that more than any o ther symbolizes

This chapter, and those which follow, will continue to build upon that premise.

The major contention of this premise is that God will move the massive tectonic plates shown in figure 3 approximately one to two feet during the last three and one-half years of the Tribulation Period. It is this destroying with the earth that will create the horrifying scenes described in Isaiah 29:6 and Luke 21:25.

ated wave is saiou, which means a particular type of wave. It means a wave that breaks on the shoreline, a wave of the surf. The nations of the world will be in great perplexity because of the roaring sound of the sea and surf. It is this phenomenon of sea and surf that will destroy one-third of the world’s shipping.

The claim has been made that unbelievably violent earth¬quake and volcanic activity will be occurring along the area indicated by dashed lines of figure 3 during the last half of the Tribulation Period. Please note that most of these great cracks in the earth’s crust lie on the ocean and sea floors of the world. If I am correct about the earthquake and volcanic activity along these cracks, then I am positive that what I am about to describe will definitely occur.

There are many types of waves that exist on the ocean sur¬face. The most common being those induced by the winds and tides of the earth.

But the most horrifying of all waves that pound the shorelines of the world is not produced by wind or tide; it is the unbelievable tsunami produced by earthquake and volcanic eruption on the seafloor.

Tsunamis are not “tidal waves. They are caused by undersea earthquakes or volcanoes and have killed millions of people down through the ages. Tsunami is the Japanese word for “storm wave.” The Alaska earthquake of 1964 produced the tsunami wave pattern shown in figure 6. As you can observe from the figure, it only took the tsunami four hours to move from the epicenter to Hawaii. Tsunami travel as f

ast as some jet aircraft.

Tsunami can now be predicted so that appalling death tolls of yesteryear can be avoided. A network of seismic warning stations now functions across the Pacific Ocean to give early warning of an approaching tsunami.

As you can observe on the lower half of figure 6, a tsunami is generated when an undersea earthquake or volcanic eruption causes a sudden downward movement of an earth block. The downward displacement of water above the block produces not a surface wave, but rather a wave which moves horizontally outward through the water from the bottom to the top. Tsunami cross the ocean as long low waves which seagoing vessels may not even notice but, as you may observe in figure 7, when the tsunami approaches the shoreline the energy of the wave is con¬fined in shallower and shallower water. Tsunamis have been known to rise to heights in excess of two hundred fifty feet. The increase in tsunami occurrences, during the past 190 years, is made evident in figure 8. When a tsunami crashes against a coastline it destroys everything in its path, often up to half a mile inland.

Shipping on the open sea is virtually unaffected by a tsunami, but woe unto the ship that

is caught in port. There is not a ship built which can withstand the force of a full blown tsunami as it roars into port. In one day the old city of Lisbon and all the ships in port were destroyed by a wall of water that washed half a mile inland. During the last three and one-half years of the Tribulation Period most of the coastal cities of the world and the ships in port will be completely destroyed by tsunami after tsunami. This is what will produce much of the distress and perplexity among the nations of the world.

Now, how does all this fit in with Revelation 8:9 regarding John’s statement: “and the third part of the ships were destroyed?”

At any given time approximately two-thirds of the world’s shipping is “under way” on the open sea, and one-third is in port or dry dock. The two-thirds on the open sea will be spared, and the one-third in port will be destroyed by tsunami during the sounding of the second trumpet.

The following Scriptures leave little doubt that God has con¬trol of the sea and the destructive forces of its waves. Those who “do business in great waters” will lose one-third of their busi¬ness on the sounding of the second trump.

The earth is God’s creation and all the things thereof.

God does not need man’s weaponry or technology to fulfill His prophecies. God has already made all the elements necessary to destroy man, and He has molded them into forms, shapes, com¬pounds and processes capable of fulfilling His revelation of end-time events.

I know that a great war will occur. Many men will die in that war. Bullets and other weaponry will kill many of them; but that will be only a few compared to the earthquake, fire and brimstone toll exacted by the force of Almighty God upon sinful mankind. For too long biblical expositors have been concentrating on a single tree (man’s weaponry and technology) as the fulfillment of Revelation prophecies. In so doing, they have overlooked the forest of God’s creation, the earth’s natural destructive forces.

It will be interesting to watch this program for future modifications and changes for adaptation of this X37B, AFTER the US observes its capabilities for a multitude of other activities for which it was not originally designed. Evaluation of its potential is more than worth watching, but at this time it’s future uses are speculative.

The Boeing X-37 Advanced Technology Demonstrator is an unpiloted demonstration spacep

at Edwards AFB.

The spacecraft will be launched as a United States Air Force mission, rather than a NASA mission, in April 2010.

Design and development

In 1999, NASA selected Boeing Integrated Defense Systems to design and develop the vehicle, which was built by the California

branch of Boeing’s Phantom Works.

The X-37 was transferred from NASA to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency on September 13, 2004. The program has become a classified project, though it is not known whether DARPA will maintain this status for the project. NASA’s spaceflight program may be centered around the Crew Exploration Vehicle, while DARPA will promote the X-37 as part of the independent space policy which the Department of Defense has pursued since the Challenger disaster.

This vehicle has the potential to become United States’ first operational military spaceplane, after the cancellation of Dyna-Soar in 1963. It is expected to operate in a velocity range of up to Mach 25.

Among the technologies to be demonstrated with the X-37 are improved thermal protection systems, avionics, the autonomous guidance system, and an advanced airframe. The on-board engine is the Rocketdyne AR-2/3, which is fueled by hydrogen peroxide and JP-8.

The X-37 was originally designed to be carried into orbit in the Space Shuttle cargo bay, but underwent redesign for launch on a Delta IV or comparable rocket after it was determined that a shuttle flight would be uneconomical.

The vehicle which was used as an atmospheric drop test glider had no propulsion system. Instead of an operational vehicle’s payload bay doors it had an enclosed and reinforced upper fuselage structure to allow

it to be mated with a mothership.

Most of the thermal protection tiles were ‘fake’, made of inexpensive foam rather than ceramic; a smaller number of the X-37’s tiles were actual TPS tiles, and TPS blankets were used in areas where heating would not have been severe enough to require tiles.

On September 2, 2004 it was reported that for its initial atmospheric drop tests, the X-37 would be launched from the Scaled Composites White Knight, a high-altitude research aircraft better known for launching Scaled’s SpaceShipOne.

On June 21, 2005, the X-37 completed a captive-carry flight underneath the White Knight at Mojave Spaceport, Mojave, California.

Through the second half of 2005, the X-37 underwent structural upgrades including reinforcement of the nose wheel supports. Further captive-carry flight tests and the first drop test were expected mid-February 2006.

March 10, 2006 was scheduled for X-37’s public debut—its first free flight, to be broadcast live on NASA TV.

But an Arctic storm covered the area, dropping snow on the Mojave. The X-37 remained in the airport’s Hangar 77, while an occasional engineer popped out onto the flight line to snap pictures of the snow.

The next attempt at a flight, on March 15, 2006 was canceled due to high winds.[3] On March 24, 2006, The X-37 flew, but a data link failure prevented the free flight and the vehicle returned to the ground still docked with its White Knight carrier.

On April 7, 2006, the X-37 made its first free glide flight. During l anding, however an anomaly caused the vehicle to run off the runway

and it sustained minor damage.

Following an extended down time while the vehicle was repaired, the program moved from Mojave to Air Force Plant 42 (KPMD) in Palmdale, California for the remainder of the flight test program. White Knight continued to be based at Mojave, but would ferry over to Plant 42 when flights were scheduled. Five additional flights were performed, at least one of which is believed to have been a free flight with a successful landing.

X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle

On November 17, 2006 the U.S. Air Force announced it would develop the X-37B from the NASA X-37A. The Air Force version is designated X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV). The OTV program builds on industry and government investments by DARPA, NASA and the Air Force. The X-37B effort will be led by the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office and includes partnerships with NASA and the Air Force Research Laboratory. Boeing is the prime contractor for the OTV program.[6]

The Secretary of the Air Force states the OTV program will focus on “risk reduction, experimentation, and operational concept development for reusable space vehicle technologies, in support of long term developmental space objectives.”

The X-37B was originally scheduled for launch in the payload bay of the Space Shuttle, but following the Columbia accident, it was transferred to a Delta II 7920. It was subsequently transferred to the Atlas V following concerns over the spacecraft’s aerodynamic properties during launch.

The X-37B is to be launched on an Atlas V rocket from SLC-41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The spacecraft will be placed into low Earth orbit for testing, then it will be de-orbited for landing. The landing is to occur on a runway at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California with Edwards Air Force Base as the alternate site.
