In the United States, about half the population and most of the policy elite think that President Barack Obama’s admin istration

is a great success internationally. The other half doesn’t. A key reason for the first group’s attitude is its obsession with the highly visible popularity issue, the idea that America is more liked in the world. The problem is that, at the same time, it is less respected and that is the factor that counts.

As we move into 2010, with the administration’s first “learning” year behind it, a turn toward learning the lessons of that experience is not yet visible.

This is especially so on the two most high-profile Middle East issue.

Originally, the administration suggested that it would raise sanctions against Iran in September 2009 if engagement yielded no fruit. That was then pushed back to the end of that year. Now, we have a new estimate: July 2010. Maybe. And we also have the defining of those sanctions long in advance as ineffective, narrowly – and symbolically – focused on a ruling elite which will never feel any pain as a result.

This, then, is the way the Obama administration views threats, which will make its adversaries see them as hollow.

In a Brussels speech, US Ambassador to the European Union William Kennard explained: “You’ll hear over the next six months a lot more about our efforts on sanctions.” Hear about them? Haven’t we been hearing about them for a year? And at the end of six months will we actually see them

?

This all makes the following scenario quite imaginable: Fill in the month; fill in the day; fill in the year: Iran has nuclear weapons. Same month; same day plus one; same year: US announces low-level, ineffective sanctions to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons.

MEANWHILE, a parallel scenario is affecting the administration’s “peace process” policy. There are lots of stories in the media.

Envoys zig and zag over the map. Meetings are held; plans are hinted at. But none of this matters. None of it.

Here’s the only thing that matters: Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas says he won’t even go to talks unless Israel stops all construction tout de suite, including the apartments being completed and the ones being built in Jerusalem. The media likes to say that both sides are “defying” the US. But in fact what Israel is doing was approved by the US, and even highly praised by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Obama’s administration is urging that negotiations restart based on the fantasy that all the tough issues would quickly be resolved.

Resolve borders, security guarantees, recognition of a Jewish state of Israel, end of conflict, settlement of refugees in Palestine, status of Jerusalem and lots of other incredibly difficult issues? The administration can’t even get the two sides to the table!

Here’s a b

asic aspect of the problem.

While Israel won’t give up everything Abbas demands in negotiations, Abbas is unprepared to make the slightest concession on anything. First, because he doesn’t want to do so; second, because he is unable to do so, since he lacks a strong base of support; third, because he is afraid to do so because he would lose power, his Fatah movement would splinter and he might even be overthrown by Hamas.

Therefore, in July 2010, and by January 2011 for that matter, the administration is unlikely to make any progress.

While current policies are disturbing, the alternatives being pushed within the policy establishment and promoted so often in the mass media are generally worse.

Starting from the perspective that US strategies have failed, it is argued that this is because they haven’t gone far enough in the wrong direction. Rather than proposing a much tougher policy toward Iran – with real sanctions at least – the proposals are for even more engagement and concessions.

Noting that Hamas is still in power, what we hear are not calls to subvert it further and bring it down but rather to give up and start negotiating with that group.

The same position is being put forward about Hizbullah and Syria: to claim falsely that they are moderating and urge Western concessions. As for the “peace process,” since the US cannot even get talks going, it is asserted that it should leap to the end of negotiations and try to impose a final, comprehensive solution right now.

Most of these bad ideas are not going to be implemented, by the US at least though they have more appeal in Europe.

Yet this orientation nevertheless makes it impossible for any sensible alternatives to be presented and seriously debated.

Apparently the dominant school of thought at present thinks that other than al-Qaida, there is no revolutionary movement in the world that doesn’t really prefer to be moderate, no enemy that cannot be won over through dialogue.

But why should Damascus and Teheran or Hamas and Hizbullah or the Muslim Brotherhood and the Palestinian Authority abandon what they deem to be a successful strategy of militancy and intransigence, especially if the West keeps telling them they can get concessions without making any themselves? How can so many Western analysts and journalists simply put aside virtually everything such organizations say and do to focus on their own personal interpretations of what these forces “really” want?

Very possibly the administration will fool the American media by constant activity and claims that it is getting somewhere; somewhat possibly this will work on a large proportion of the American population. But people in the Middle East aren’t fooled at all.

The first earthquake in Revelation 6:12 will initiate the formation of a long chain of worldwide earthquakes. These earthquakes will occur along fault lines that stretch across the surface of the earth, and will be greater in magnitude and intensity than any which have occurred since God placed man on the earth.

The Jordan Rift Valley is merely a small part of the thousands of fault lines that are interconnected across the earth, but the first, and the last, of many earthquakes occurring during the terrifying tribulation period, will occur along it, one with 1260 days to go until Armageddon, and the last one will end the battle of Armageddon.

Revelation 6:12 – And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (The first in Revelation).

Revelation 16:16-18 – And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. [17] And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

Daniel 12:4 – But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

As geologists have run “to and fro” across the earth our knowledge has been greatly increased as to the method that God has, and does, use in reshaping the earth’s crust and interior. We now know that the outer crust of the earth’s surface actually floats on an underlying layer of molten rock known as magma. When magma bursts forth onto the earth’s surface it is called lava. These plates of floating crust (called tectonic plates) are gigantic in size. The largest, the Pacific Plate, consists of virtually the entire Pacific Ocean seafloor.

The plates come together along their edges, and these zones of contact are called faults. There are several types of faults that exist along tectonic plate borders, but it is not the purpose of this discourse to teach structural geology, so I will merely identify all these faults as cracks or flaws in the earth’s surface, which reach far down into a worldwide sea of magma beneath the tectonic plate crust (See Figure 3 under Birth Pangs). The dashed lines on Figure 3 are the major faults or “cracks” that exist between the plates. The arrows indicate the general movement of the plates as they drift ever so slowly over the underlying sea of magma in response to its convective currents. As you can see in Figure 3, the Jordan Valley rift fault is merely a very small part of the endless linkage of fault lines that weave across the surface of the globe.

Another bit of the “to and fro” knowledge that has increased for man “in the end times” is discovery of the fact that some 95 percent or the world’s earthquakes, and about 90 percent of all volcanic eruptions occur along the fault lines shown on Figure 3.

Man has learned that the earthquakes occurring along these fault lines are primarily the result of sudden readjustment movements between the plate boundaries, such as the well publicized San Andreas Fault in California.

There are numerous phenomena that affect the conduct of these tectonic plates. In the last 200 years man has gained sufficient knowledge to know that God has a law of universal gravitation. Sir Isaac Newton wrote the law as follows: “Every body in the universe attracts every other body in the universe with a force that varies directly as the product of their masses and inversely as the square of the distances between the two masses.” It was this principle that allowed man to eventually understand the ocean tides of the earth. There are many different types of tides, but man has learned that the highest tides occur when the sun, moon, and earth are in a perfect straight line alignment.

This kind of alignment causes the oceans to be pulled outward from the earth by gravitational force to a maximum convex bulge. Not only does this gravitational pull affect the water surface of the earth – it also pulls the earth’s crust outward toward the sun and moon, but the crust of the earth has been able to accept this amount of gravitational pull without disastrous effects up to the present time. However, I am persuaded that soon God will use his universal gravitational law to EVENTUALLY bring about a worldwide shift of the tectonic plates, and that, WHEN this shifting DOES occur, it will produce chains of earthquake and volcanic activity like the world of man has never known.

I have always believed Revelation 6:12 would occur in conjunction with the fall of Jerusalem to the antichrist, which I guesstimate likely to occur prior to 2015. However, if I am still alive when a new year dawns in 2015, I will still believe that the “EVENTUALLY” will still be in the immediate future. During the earth’s long history it’s crust has become increasingly brittle, and the day will come when all this pulling out and then pulling in by the gravitation galactic forces that have daily affected it, will bring it to the point that a great future earthquake will trigger a massive chain of earthquakes to release the pressure points and tension zones that have been built up along the plate boundaries. It will mark the time of visitation by God in judgment by a horrific release of tectonic chaos.

Isaiah 29:6 – Thou shalt be visited of the Lord of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

Man does not need to fear a great thermonuclear war, but he does need to fear the living God who made him, and worship him through his Son. It is past time for man to show respect for the Father by kissing the Son!

Man is the only creature that knows it’s going to die, and atomic scientists are the only professionals who measure the amount of time before man annihilates himself. But there is good news from those scientists: Humanity inched away from Armageddon on Thursday morning.

The Doomsday Clock was set back one minute, from 11:55 to 11:54, reversing a precipitous slide toward midnight, the zero hour, ultimate self-destruction.

The clock was reset to reflect a “more hopeful state of world affairs,” the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists announced at the New York Academy of Sciences and over a live feed on the Internet.

Forty policymakers, scientists and Nobel laureates on the board of the Bulletin – an online magazine that covers threats to humanity – decided to move the clock after spirited debates about current trends in science and politics.

“We are poised to bend the arc of history toward a world free of nuclear weapons,” the board said in a statement. “For the first time since atomic bombs were dropped in 1945, leaders of nuclear weapons states are cooperating to vastly reduce their arsenals and secure all nuclear bomb-making material. And for the first time ever, industrialized and developing countries alike are pledging to limit climate-changing gas emissions that could render our planet nearly uninhabitable.”

This is the 19th time the clock has moved in 63 years. The creators of the Manhattan Project wound up the symbolic device in 1947 to remind the world of the consequence of abusing nuclear power. Since then, the clock has moved forward 11 times and back eight times.

It came closest to midnight in 1953, when the testing of hydrogen bombs nudged it to 11:58, and moved farthest away in 1991, when it slid to 11:43 after the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. The clock has been steadily ticking toward midnight since the mid-’90s, as increased terrorism destabilized regions of the world and India and Pakistan tested nuclear bombs.

The Bulletin’s statement also cited President Obama’s “pragmatic, problem-solving approach,” arms reduction talks with Russia, negotiations with Iran over its nuclear enrichment program and support for a fissile material cutoff treaty at the U.N. Security Council in September, though Obama has also endured partisan challenges to his leadership on national security over the past year.

The number of nuclear weapons in the world has decreased by 4,000 over the past three years, to 23,000, accord

ing to Benedict. Regardless, Hollywood still churns out apocalyptic movies (“The Road,” “2012” and “Knowing” premiered over the past 10 months), and 50 million Americans still believe the world will end in their lifetimes, according to Nicholas Guyatt, author of “Have a Nice Doomsday: Why Millions of Americans Are Looking Forward to the End of the World.”

Oh the shame of it all. Last month, 1,300 pro-Palestinian activists from the US and Europe came to the region in the name of peace and social justice to demonstrate their solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza. Led by the self-declared feminist, antiwar group Code Pink, the demonstrators’ plan was to enter Gaza from the Egyptian border at Rafah and deliver “humanitarian aid” to the Hamas terrorist organization.

But it was not to be. Led by Code Pink founder and California Democratic fund-raiser Jodie Evans, the demonstrators were not welcomed by Egyptian authorities. Many were surrounded by riot police and barbed wire as they demonstrated outside the US and French embassies and the UN Development Program’s headquarters. Others were barred from leaving their hotels.

Those who managed to escape their hotels and the bullpens outside the embassies were barred from staging night protests in solidarity with Hamas on the Nile. In the end, as the militant Israeli pro-Palestinian activist Amira Hass chronicled in Haaretz last week, all but 100 of them were barred from travelling to Gaza.

The lucky few allowed into the Strip included neither Evans nor her friends, former Weather Underground terror leaders Bernadine Dohrn and William Ayres. But they bore no grudge against Egypt. The Egyptians were mere puppets of the real culprit: Israel. As Evans said, “It’s obvious that the only reason for [Egypt’s treatment of the demonstrators] is to make Israel happy. Israel is behind the refusal [to allow the demonstrators into Gaza] – what other excuse could there be?”

Dohrn, the woman who has called for a “revolutionary war” to destroy the US, felt that the Egyptian authorities’ behavior was nothing but an unfortunate diversion from their mission. As she wrote in a blog post from Cairo, “We find ourselves unwillingly in Cairo, drawn into clashes with authorities and one another on side issues, when what we most want is to keep our eyes on the Palestinian people.”

Unfortunately for the lucky 100 who were permitted to enter Hamastan, the diversions didn’t end at the Egyptians border. Hamas immediately placed them under siege. The Palestinian champions had planned to enjoy home hospitality from friends in Gaza. But once there they were prohibited from leaving the Hamas-owned Commodore Hotel and from having any contact with local Gazans without a Hamas escort.

Rather than being permitted to judge the situation in Gaza for themselves, they were carted onto Hamas buses and taken on “devastation tours” of what their Hamas tour guides claimed was damage caused by the IDF during Operation Cast Lead.

And then these international protesters were forced to participate in a Hamas-organized march to the Erez crossing.

As Hass tells it, in “a slap to many feminist organizers and participants,” no Palestinian women were allowed to participate in the march, which “turned into nothing more than a ritual, an opportunity for Hamas cabinet ministers to get decent media coverage in the company of Western demonstrators.”

But they didn’t really mind. Reacting to her effective imprisonment in the Hamas-owned hotel, one of the demonstrators, an American woman named Poya Pakzad, cooed on her blog that the Commodore Hotel was “the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at, in my life.”

Pakzad did complain, however, about what she acknowledged was the “farce” devastation tour she was taken on. She claimed that her Hamas guides were ignorant. In her studied view, they understated the number of Palestinians rendered homeless by the IDF counterterror offensive last year by some 60 percent.

Pakzad is something of a Hass groupie. She wrote that on the bus to Gaza, still smarting from the rough treatment the group received from the Egyptian authorities, Hass “made me realize why I came in the first place: to break the siege!”

Hass’ s participation in the pro-Hama

s propaganda trip is a bit surprising. In November 2008, she was forced to flee from Gaza to Israel after Hamas threatened to kill her. At the time, Hass appealed to the Israeli military – which she has spent the better part of her career bashing – and asked to be allowed to enter Israel from Gaza, after sailing illegally to Gaza from Cyprus on a ferry chartered by the pro-Hamas Free Gaza outfit.

Hass’s behavior is actually more revealing than surprising. The truth is that Hass and her fellow demonstrators were willing to be used as media props by Hamas precisely because it isn’t the Palestinians’ welfare that concerns them. If they cared about

the Palestinians they would be demonstrating against Hamas, which prohibited local women from participating in their march to the Israeli border, and which barred non-Hamas members from speaking with them. It would offend their sensitivities that Hamas goons beat women for not covering themselves from head to toe in Islamic potato sacks. It would bother them that Hamas executes its political opponents by among other things throwing them off the roofs of apartment buildings.

The demonstrators did not come to Gaza to demonstrate their support for the Palestinians, but rather their hatred for Israel and for their own Western governments that refuse to join Hamas in its war against Israel. As one of the organizers told Hass as she sat corralled by Egyptian riot police outside the UNDP offices in Cairo, “In our presence here, we are saying that we are not casting the blame on Egypt.

The responsibility for the shameless and obscene Israeli siege on Gaza rests squarely with our own countries.”

By happily collaborating with Hamas in its propaganda extravaganza, these demonstrators demonstrated that the rights of Palestinians are not their concern. Their concern is waging war against their own societies and against Israel. They are more than happy to have their pictures taken with the likes of Hamas terror master Ismail Haniyeh.

And while they will never acknowledge that his organization’s terror war against Israel is illegal and immoral, or care that Hamas’s founding charter explicitly calls for the genocide of Jewry, they will demonstrate from today till doomsday against their governments’ recognition of Israel.

IN THIS, the Free Gaza movement members are but a chip off the old psychopathic block of nearly a century of far-left Western activists whose hatred for their own countries motivated them to hide the crimes of mass murderers from Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong to Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh to Daniel Ortega and Saddam Hussein. As Jamie Glazov chronicles in his recently published book, United in Hate: The Left’s Romance with Tyranny and Terror, their attraction to mass murderers – from Stalin to Osama bin Laden – and their concomitant hatred of their own societies “is a secular religion.”

These fanatics are usually dismissed as fringe elements. But the truth is that during the late 20th century, the distance between these true believers and the centers of state power has not been very great.

Glazov notes, “The tragedy… is that the Left has shaped much of the cultural and political consciousness of our time.

The Left’s agenda mattered immensely during the Vietnam War: even former North Vietnamese officials have admitted that the antiwar movement in American can take credit for communism’s victory in South Vietnam and, therefore, for the tragic bloodbath that followed.”

Likewise, these radical movements’ extremism today has not marginalized them politically. Since it was formed in 2002, Code Pink has openly sided with US enemies against the US and its allies. Evans and its other leaders have met with Hamas leaders in Gaza and Syria. They have visited with Hizbullah in Lebanon. They have met with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in New York and Teheran. They have supplied Iranian-backed insurgents in Iraq, and before the US-led invasion in 2003, they organized a solidarity-with-Saddam Hussein mission to Baghdad. And this month, fresh from Egypt and Gaza, Code Pink launched an advertising campaign on the Muslim Brotherhood’s English-language Web site.

At home in the US, as documented by Web sites like Big Government and Atlas Shrugs, Code Pink’s members have launched psychological warfare operations against American soldiers outside of military bases with the aim of persuading them to desert.

They have taunted and frightened children of US servicemen. They have harassed Bush administration officials, their family members and Republican Party leaders.

In Israel, counterparts to Code Pink like Uri Avineri’s Gush Shalom acted as human shields to protect Yasser Arafat and his fellow terrorists from the IDF during Operation Defensive Shield in 2002. Anarchists Against the Fence stage violent riots against IDF soldiers every week. Four Mothers successfully compelled the Barak government to surrender south Lebanon to Hizbullah.

Traditionally, the far left’s ability to shape national policy in Israel and the US alike has owed largely to the sympathetic coverage they have garnered from fellow-travelling media outlets. In the US, the anti-war movement probably would have failed in its mission of transferring South Vietnam to Communist control if The New York Times and CBS News hadn’t supported their efforts. So, too, the Barak government would likely not have withdrawn the IDF from south Lebanon if Four Mothers hadn’t been ardently supported by state-owned Israel Radio.

WHILE BOTH the Israeli and American media continue to promote the agendas of far left groups, by among other things, not reporting their open ties to terrorist organizations, today some of these groups have direct access to the halls of power.

Code Pink, for instance, is welcome at the Obama White House. Its leader Evans was an official fund-raiser for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Evans visited the White House after travelling to Gaza last June. While there she met with Hamas leaders who gave her a letter for Obama. Evans met Obama himself at a donor dinner in San Francisco last October where, while standing in front of cameras, she gave him documents she received in Afghanistan, where she met with Taliban officials.

Then, too, among the board members of the Free Gaza movement is former US senator James Abourezk. Abourezk is reputedly close to Obama and according to knowledgeable sources has been a key figure in shaping Obama’s policy towards Israel.

Then, too, like Evans, Dohrn and her husband, Ayres, are also friendly with the president of the United States. Dohrn and Ayres have been Obama’s political patrons since he launched his first campaign for the Illinois state Senate in 1996. In White House visitors’ logs, Ayres is listed as having twice visited the building since Obama’s inauguration.

Israeli authorities tend to treat groups like Code Pink and its Israeli allies as nothing more than nuisances. Since unlike Egypt and these self-proclaimed human rights champions themselves, Israel actually does care about human rights, it would never occur to anyone to treat these demonstrators as Egypt did. At the same time, the Egyptian authorities’ actions were clearly informed by their understanding that, with their ties to Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hizbullah, Syria and Iran, Code Pink and its friends are active collaborators with the jihad war machine.

With their open ties to our jihadist enemies on the one hand, and their direct line to the White House on the other, Israel ignores them at our peril.

The prediction of Ahmad Jibril concerning an immediate Israeli attack against Syria in the Jerusalem Post is interesting, but very unlikely to occur as soon as he implies.

I would love to see Ahmad Jibril’s prediction of Israel attacking Syria “very soon,” come true because if that were to be the case, Israel would definitely win the ensuing war. However, that is not what I expect to happen, and I do not expect the prophecy of Daniel 11:40-42 to be fulfilled prior to 2010 and, when it finally is fulfilled, the initial push of the king of the south (Israel) will be met by a planned counterattack from the king of the north (Syria), which will drive Israel into the Negev Wilderness, where she will remain for some three and one-half years.

Daniel 11:40-42 – And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. [41] He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. [42] He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be LEFT THEREIN.

The important thing about this prophecy has never been WHEN it would be fulfilled, but knowing it WOULD one day be fulfilled, living one day at a time as a believer with a heart committed to serving him. I started guesstimating the time of the attack that would start the last three and one-half years of this present age of the Gentiles many years ago, but only because so many people asked me about it. It has always been a guess, no more and no less! I have tried since 1971 to fight day by day against the evil in my flesh and the world by his power in seeking first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.

If I am still doing that on the day any prophecy is fulfilled, the ‘morrow’ of the prophecy will have taken thought for the things of itself.

Jibril: Israel will attack Syria soon

Israel has already made a decision to attack Syria and was just mulling over where to land its first strike, Ahmad Jibril, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed in an interview published Friday by Arabic newspaper Al Hadat.

Jibril estimated that Israeli action, several weeks after an alleged IAF foray into Syria on September 6, would likely be a wide-scale operation, and would probably be answered with attacks by Iran, Hizbullah in Lebanon and the Palestinians of Syria.

“I believe Israel has prepared all likely scenarios for war with Syria, but they are still considering where they will land the first strike, which will come very soon,” Jibril said. “They are weighing whether to attack on one front or on multiple fronts.

“There is an American Israeli plan, backed by silent agreement from the Arab world, to change the balance of power in the Middle East,” he added.

The PFLP leader said also that Israel was wary of a “domino effect” that would drag other countries into the conflict. “The Israelis have not formed a final estimate regarding the possibility of Iranian intervention if they will attack Syria. Secondly, the Lebanese resistance, led by Hizbullah’s Islamic resistance, will intervene and strike the Zionist home front with missiles,” he said.

Hezbollah warns Israel against launching new war

Lebanon’s Nasrallah: Israel again beating drums of war to try to restore its military’s reputation.

BEIRUT – Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said Friday he was confident that any new conflict with Israel would see his powerful group emerge victorious and change the face of the region.

“I promise you, in view of all the threats you hear today… that should a new war with the Zionists erupt, we will crush the enemy, come out victorious and change the face of the region,” he said via video link to an Arab and international forum for resistance movements in Beirut.

“The future of this region is the resistance, dignity, freedom,” Nasrallah told an audience that included representatives from Iran, Syria and other countries, as well as Hamas’s exiled leader Khaled Meshaal.

“God willing, Israel, the occupation, hegemony and arrogance are in the process of disappearing.”

Nasrallah said that Israel was again beating the drums of war to try to restore its military’s reputation as an invincible regional force.

Israel waged a bloody 34-day war on Lebanon in the summer of 2006 after Hezbollah fighters seized two Israeli soldiers in a deadly cross-border raid that aimed to free Lebanese soldiers from Israeli prisons.

The bodies of the soldiers were returned in a prisoner swap.

The war claimed the lives of more than 1,200 people in Lebanon, most of them civilians, and more than 160 Israelis,

most of them soldiers.

Hezbollah, originally a resistance group formed to counter an Israeli occupation of south Lebanon, had forced the Israeli military out of Lebanon in 2000.

Israel, however, continues to occupy the Lebanese Shabaa Farms.

Israeli flights over Lebanon occur on an almost daily basis and are in breach of UN Security Council resolution 1710, which in August 2006 ended the war.

While Israel remains surrounded in the Negev Wilderness for some 1260 days after the United Nations brokers a truce or hudna agreed to by Islam and Israel, the Antichrist will continue his military conquests. He will conquer Egypt, establish his capital at Cairo, and begin to establish a new Caliphate across all of Africa north and west of the Sahara Desert, all of the Middle East south of the Black Sea, all the land to the south and west of a line from Georgia to Kyrgyzstan to Karachi, and all of Indonesia.

Daniel 11:41 – He shall enter also into THE GLORIOUS LAND, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these SHALL ESCAPE out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

The ancient boil of conflict between the descendants of Jacob, Ishmael, and the six sons of Keturah, with all its internal blend of impurities, is finally coming to a head in the Middle East. The existing world mindset toward peace will be shattered suddenly by a rapid blitzkrieg attack from the north by Syria.

In league with Syria will be Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Morocco, and Turkey.

Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran will move rapidly southward through the “glorious land” of Israel like a fast moving thunderstorm, bypassing the land where the people of Moab, Ammon, and Edom were settled when Daniel wrote his prophecies in about 600 B.C. The descendants of Edom (Jacob’s brother), and Ammon and Moab (the sons of Lot), as found on every published map for this time period, were settled immediately to the southeast, east, and northeast of the Dead Sea, precisely in the country we know as Jordan today. Hence, we can know that the antichrist will bypass Jordan as he moves south through Israel. Why would he bypass Jordan? She has no strategic, political, or economic advantage to offer him, but the Suez Canal and Egypt do, so he will head southwest toward that area after having driven the woman Israel into the Negev Wilderness south of Beersheba. Additionally, I am convinced when he first enters the glorious land, the Palestinian terror groups in Jordan will rise up against the King, and overthrow the monarchy.

The political, geophysical, and military positioning of Syria, Iran, and Iraq, from a prospective

of having world influence, literally stinks. But the position of Egypt’s Suez Canal, and Cairo, her capital, is outstanding. The antichrist is supposed to be a man of genius in all areas. That being the case, he would be worse than a military academy dropout were he not to take the Suez Canal, and then make Cairo his empire’s capital.

Daniel 11:43 – But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

The three most “precious things” in Egypt are: the Suez Canal, the Nile River and its Delta, and Cairo, its capital. He will conquer the Suez Canal zone and all of Egypt. So just what is Egypt? Many are inclined to establish it as the land bordered on the north by the Mediterranean Sea, on the west by Libya, on the south by Sudan, on the southeast by the Red Sea, and on the northeast by its Sinai border with Gaza and Israel’s Negev. And, geographically, that is quite correct. However, in reality, that is not Egypt. The real Egypt, where her people live, is much, much, smaller.

Egypt is the land along her north and east coastlines up to about two miles inland, the Nile Delta, and the land along the Nile River extending about fifteen miles either side of its banks.

The antichrist will send messages to leaders of two of the original 10 nations confederated with him, namely Libya and Sudan, requesting them to mass their troops along the northern coastal border with Libya, and along the border where the Nile enters Egypt from Sudan.

This will cause the diversion of some Egyptian troops away from Cairo and the Suez Canal in order to protect their western and southern borders. And this will allow the antichrist to rapidly push across the Suez Canal into Cairo and along her western and eastern coastlines, then to quickly progress southward down the Nile with little resistance. I believe he will control Egypt within two weeks after he reaches the Suez Canal.

Once he has conquered Egypt, he will make an assessment of his geopolitical position. After having done so, he would be a military fool to return to his home country. He will establish his capital at Cairo, and will remain there for more than three years. After three years he will receive news that causes him to quickly return to Jerusalem.

If a military leader plans to put down his roots for a while, what would be one of his major concerns

? The relationship he has with the rulers of the nations that are on his immediate borders. That is, how sure he is they will not pull a surprise attack on him. So, through the prestigious position he has gained in the eyes of the Islamic world by this time, it will allow him to use the terrorist groups, already in Sudan and Libya, to overthrow their leaders, and in their place to install two of his stooges, where they will remain in control for some three years. He will already have plucked up the ruler of Lebanon, and replaced him with a stooge.

It will surprise me if Lebanon, Sudan, and Libya are not the countries from which his stooges will rule.

Saudis fail to heal Palestinian breach, say Mitchell’s visit waste of time

There was no word by Friday, Jan. 15, that Syrian president Bashar Assad,

who arrived seven hours late for his appointment with King Abdullah in Riyadh Wednesday, Jan. 13, had left for home or any announcement about their talks, DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources report. He was invited by the Saudi King to meet Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak for a fence-mending summit. But Mubarak did not turn up.

The king had planned for the three Arab rulers to get together on the Palestinian feud and apply to the Palestinian quarrel their success in forging a unity government in Beirut, the key to which entailed Lebanese prime minister Saad Hariri accepting Hizballah as a coalition partner and going to Damascus to shake the hand of his father’s alleged murderer, Bashar Assad.

Syria represented Iran in this process.

Abdullah hoped Mubarak and Assad would now join hands to force Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas political leader Khaled Meshaal to meet and set up a power-sharing Palestinian administration in Ramallah for the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The two architects of this scheme were the Saudi intelligence chief Prince Moqrin Abdulazziz and his Syrian opposite number and strongman, Gen. Ali Mamluk. Its success would have put Israel in an awkward position over Palestinian representation at possible peace talks, an outcome for which King Abdullah was willing to pay a heavy price – even to kowtowing to Tehran.

1. For the second time in three months, he embarked on an action that required Riyadh to publicly concede that nothing can be achieved in the Middle East these days without Iran’s nod.

The Saudi monarch went ahead with his Palestinian maneuver, after listening politely to the visiting US National Security Adviser James Jones expounding on administration policy on Iran in Riyadh Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Then too he was not convinced Washington would pursue any effective policy against Iran and its nuclear program, any more than he had trusted the assurances given him last year by President Barack Obama in person, defense secretary Robert Gates or presidential envoy Dennis Ross.

This mistrust was summed up in Abdullah’s recent remark: “We have heard enough words from you [Washington]. Action we have yet to see.”

2. After bowing to the formation of a Lebanese unity government powerless to throw off the Syrian yoke or stop Hizballah from seizing large parts of the country, King Abdullah accepted that any Palestinian power-sharing deal must give Hamas a strong position in Ramallah as well as Gaza. He knew Tehran and Damascus will only go along with Palestinian unity if Khaled Meshaal came out of the de al s

tronger and Abbas weaker.

DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources report that this effort is so far stuck nowhere and there is not much point in US envoy George Mitchell returning to the region next week for a fresh bid to revive Israel-Palestinian talks.

But King Abdullah will most probably keep on trying to rebuild his Palestinian house of cards even though it keeps on falling down – like the one which collapsed last week in Yemen.

DEBKAfile’s Saudi experts report that the Saudi military has meanwhile returned to the Yemen battlefield against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in the north, less than a month after striking a deal guaranteed by the Syrian president for a Saudi troop pull-out from Yemen to be matched by a Houthi withdrawal from Saudi territory.

Abdullah made the mistake of counting on Assad’s word binding Tehran too as the Yemeni rebels’ sponsor. But the departing Houthis turned round and quickly regained their former positions in the southern Saudi provinces.

The situation in Lebanon is pretty fragile too. Its stability depends on prime minister Hariri continuing to let Hizballah expand its holdings undisturbed. And any deal the Saudi king might pull off between the rival Palestinian factions would go the same way, if Iran’s protégée, Hamas, were to be thwarted.

Hamas leader Khaled Meshal called on Egypt on Friday to stop building an underground wall along its border with Gaza, which the Islamist group says would put further strain on the isolated enclave.

Meshal also called for a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of the rival Fatah party, to try to achieve reconciliation between the two groups.

Egypt is constructing an underground barrier to stem Palestinian arms smuggling into Gaza and has played down the scope of the work on the 14-km (8-mile)-long frontier.

Hamas calls the project a “wall of death” that could seal an Israeli-led blockade by closing smuggler tunnels from the Egyptian Sinai peninsula.

“We call on the Egyptian leadership to stop building the steel wall along its border with the Gaza Strip,” Meshal said at a conference bringing resistance groups together in Beirut.

“A wall [is erected] between enemies and not between brothers,” said Meshal who lives in exile in Damascus.

Israel has long lobbied Egypt to tackle cross-border smuggling, which supplies Palestinians with munitions as well as with basic goods lacking in Gaza.

Egyptian officials have said steel tubes were being placed at several points along the frontier to form a barrier, but have not elaborated on their purpose.

The anti-smuggling wall sparked violence earlier this month when an Egyptian soldier was killed and four Palestinians were wounded in a gun battle during a demonstration in protest against it.

Israel and Egypt maintain a blockade of the Gaza Strip, ruled by Hamas Islamists who oppose international efforts to achieve Israeli-Palestinian peace.

Israel imposed the blockade in 2006 after the IDF soldier Gilad Shalit was seized by militants who tunnelled under the Israel-Gaza border. It has been tightened since Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip from forces loyal to Abbas’s Fatah movement.

The blockade has been condemned internationally over hardships caused to Palestinians in the poor coastal enclave and its effect on efforts to rebuild homes and infrastructure since Israel’s three-week Gaza incursion a year ago.

Meshal, who earlier met Lebanese leaders, said his group was in the last stretch towards reconciliation with Fatah and all that was needed was a final review of an Egyptian proposal to promote reconciliation between the two groups.

Egypt has been hosting talks between Hamas and Fatah – which controls the West Bank – to try to push the two parties towards a deal.

“From this platform, I erase all the past, and I invite the brother Abu Mazen (Abbas) for a bilateral meeting to start with, then with the factions,” Meshal said at the opening ceremony which Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also addressed.
