Revelation 8:7-9 – The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. [8] And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; [9] And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.

In the previous chapter a lengthy discourse of verse seven was given; a discourse portraying the terrible effects of volcanic spillage on dry land masses. I have attempted to build a case that God will move the massive tectonic plates of figure 3 to pro¬duce unbelievable dry land eruptions. But the shifting of the plates would most assuredly not only affect the land, for most of these great cracks exist on the world’s ocean and sea floors. John’s eyes had been fixed on the horrifying burning of the earth’s greenery (verse seven), but as he watched the land scene the underwater volcanic activity remained hidden from his view. It is therefore only natural that the dry land events were reported before the water

events.

In order to correctly interpret verse eight, one must under¬stand what the expression “as it were” means, and how it is used in relation to the subject and verb of the middle section of this verse. Many commentaries identify the great burning mountain as a meteorite that falls into the sea from heaven, but I will attempt to prove that this is not the case.

The expression “as it were” is one very small Greek word. That word is hos. Hos is a particle having a very wide variety of uses in the New Testament. At times it applies to the subject, at other times it applies to the verbal action, and sometimes it applies to both. Hos can be translated as “what looked like,” “it was as though,” “what seemed to be,” “it was as if,” “as it were,” etc.

The verbal action “was cast” Is a single Greek verb, eblethe. It expresses punctiliar action in past time and, as such, can be translated “had been cast.”

John used hos in John 7:10 to describe the action performed by the subject:

But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 4:9 used hos to refer to a verbal action affecting the subjects:

For I think that God hath set birth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

Now considering the usage of hos and eblethe in Revelation 8:8, let us carefully examine what John saw and how he report-. ed it:

And the second angel sounded, and as it were thos] a great moun¬tion burning with fire was cast [eblethe] into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood.

Hos (as it were) refers to both the subject (great burning mountain) and the verbal action eblethe (had been cast) that began at some point in time before John actually saw the sub¬ject. John’s attention had been fixed on a horrible scene of fiery objects coming down upon the dry land masses of the world, destroying all the green grass and one-third of the trees. Suddenly the second trumpet shifted his eyes to the sea, and he beheld what looked like a great mountain on fire in the midst of the sea. John did not know where it came from, so he used the expression (hos) to tell us it was as ifit had been cast into the sea. John did not see it cast into the sea, because the tense of the verb eblethe indicates the action that caused it to be in the midst of the sea occurred before John actually saw it there. What John saw is what you see in figure 5. The mountain had been cast into the sea from beneath, not from above as many commentaries assume. Not all commentaries take the falling meteor position.

Among one of the more reputable that does not is the Expositor’s Greek Testament Volume five of this highly esteemed work provides the following information concerning Revelation 8:8 and the rest of the book of Revelation:

Volcanic phenomena… in the Egean archipelago are in the background of this description, and of others throughout the book; features such a the disturbance of islands and the mainland, show¬ers of stones, earthquakes, the sun obscured by a black mist of ashes, and the moon reddened by volcanic dust, were the natural conse¬quences of eruption in some submarine volcano, and Thera—adjoin¬ing Patmos—was in a state of more or less severe eruption during the first century. All this suggested the hideous colours in which the final catastrophe was painted by the imagination of pious contem¬poraries. In the eruption of 1573, the sea round Thera was tinted for twenty miles round, and even when the submarine volcano is quies¬cent, ‘the sea in the immediate vicinity of the cone is of a brilliant orange colour, from the action of oxide of iron.” In 1707 a large rock suddenly appeared in the sea, during the eruption, and owing to noxious vapours ‘all fish in the harbour died.’

It is difficult to prove conclusively the case for volcanic erup¬tions by linguistics alone, but the effects produced in the form of blood-red water that destroys aquatic life is a natural conse¬quence of volcanic eruptions.

There have been thousands of meteorites that have fallen into man’s water supplies for many years and yet not one case of poisoning has ever been validated. Meteors are not poisonous nor do they turn water a continuing red.

Please do not let the “orange” color mentioned in the quote from the Expositor’s Greek testament mislead you.

You will not find the color “orange” in the entire Bible. One of the reasons the word “blood” appears so often in Revelation is that it figu¬ratively covers a wide range of blood shades from rusty orange to red¬dish black. Ask any hematologist about the tremendous change in blood color found in various parts of the human anatomy and discoloration as it dries and mixes with elements on a periodic chemistry chart.

They are deadly only under certain conditions which I shall describe later. As long as these organisms remain in a certain environmental temperature range there is no problem. They will remain absolutely harmless.

In fact, if the organism is car¬ried into a cold water zone by the currents of the ocean, God has so designed it that a protective crust forms around it, and the shield remains until it is carried back into a favorable temper¬ature environment. But there is one thing that must never be performed on this organism: never heat the water. In 1941 there were 346 cases of poisoning with 24 deaths. Since 1941 state laws forbid the gathering of shellfish during the season of the red waters. Experiments have shown the toxin (an alkaloid) to be about ten times as potent as strychnine, which is used for poisoning mice.

When God shifts the great tectonic plates, all the cracks on the ocean floors shown in figure 3 will open to produce long chains of oceanic eruptions as pictured in figure 5. As the magma begins to heat the oceans and seas of the world, many varieties of dinoflagellate will begin to reproduce at fantastic rates. As the heating spreads, the dinoflagellate will spread, both by formation and transportation by the currents of oceans and seas of the world. The sea will be turned red by both oxida¬tion and organism secretion, both creations of God. The same God who created the process of oxidation and all organisms has also created the mechanism to slowly spread the blood-red shroud of poison across the oceans and seas of the world—the currents of the “seven seas” shown in figure 5A. By the time the last drop of the second vial has been poured out, all aquatic life in the oceans and seas will have been destroyed by this shield of death carried by the currents that daily move life through them.

The great red shield of death is formed and spreads across one-third of the sea as the trumpet sounds. The second trumpet begins the event and the second vial closes it.

By the time the last drop of the vial has fallen, the ocean current spread of both organic and inorganic takers of life will have rendered the sea to belike the blood of a dead man. A dead man’s blood will not support life. The trumpets and vials do not occur separately from one another in a chronological sense. The first trumpet announces the beginning of event one, and the last drop of the first vial closes it. This sequence is true throughout all seven trumpets and vials.

Amazing video has been obtained in the Pacific Ocean of the deepest undersea eruption ever recorded.

The pictures show lavas bursting into the water at the West Mata submarine volcano, which is sited about 200km (125 miles) south-west of the Samoas.

The US Jason robotic submersible had to descend over 1,100m to acquire the high-definition video.

The vehicle found microbes and a specialized volcano-dwelling shrimp thriving in hot, acidic waters.

“It’s an extraordinary environment,” said Joseph Resing, a chemical oceanographer at the University of Washington and the Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean in Seattle, US.

“You have molten lavas at 1,400C producing acidic fluids – the sulphur dioxide makes these fluids as acidic as pH1.4 – and yet microbes are thriving,” he told BBC News.

“The magmatic gases sustain and provide energy for microbial life, and then the microbes provide energy for the shrimp.

“We see them very close to the volcano – within metres.”

Dr Resing has been describing the volcano’s behaviour here at the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Fall Meeting, the world’s largest annual gathering of Earth scientists.

The West Mata submarine volcano is about 9km long and 6km wide.

The base is some 3km down.

Its setting is very close to the 10,000m-deep Tonga-Kermadec Trench. This is where the Pacific Tectonic Plate, which comprises much of the central ocean floor, dives under (subducted) the Australian Plate.

It is a key location for the recycling of rock back into the interior of the Earth and it is where molten material can also then force its way back up to the surface.

The possible existence of the eruption was first identified in November 2008 through water samples recovered from the ocean that contained anomalously high levels of hydrogen and volcanic debris.

But it was not until a full scale expedition took place in May this year and Jason was able to go down and investigate West Mata that scientists realised the magnificence of the discovery.

Jason, which is operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), moved to within 3m of the erupting volcano.

The vehicle’s high-definition camera captured large molten lava bubbles about a metre across bursting into cold seawater, and it saw glowing red vents explosively ejecting lava into the sea.

It is said to be the first-observed advance of lava flows across the deep-ocean sea floor.

Jason’s two robotic arms collected samples of rocks, hot spring waters, the microbes, and the shrimp.

To find and study animal life in such a location was fascinating, said Tim Shank, a WHOI macro-biologist on the expedition.

“The animal life you see down there has evolved over millions of years to take advantage of the situation. Virtually every species down on the sea floor at vents has some sort of novel adaptation,” he told reporters at the AGU meeting.

“Shrimp have modified eye forms, and modified claws to enable them to scrape certain types of bacteria. This is where fundamental planetary processes like eruptions meet life, so it has profound implications for me as a biologist looking at the evolution of life on this planet.”

Researchers say the volcano is spewing boninite lavas, believed to be among the hottest erupting on Earth in modern times, and a type only seen before on extinct volcanoes older than a million years.

“Having a very fresh occurrence – it hasn’t been altered by the ravages of time – and having a known date of eruption gives us the ability to study many different aspects of the rock, including radioactive tracers which will give us the rates of these processes – i.e. how long it takes for this recycling [at subduction zones] to occur.”

The West Mata expedition was funded by the US National Science Foundation and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday that all countries must be able to use clean and renewable energy sources, including nuclear power.

“Every country should have access to new technologies in order to vary its energy resources,” he said.

Speaking at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Ahmadinejad noted that countries must put emphasis on developing energy using green sources such as sunlight, tidal force and nuclear power.

The Iranian president suggested setting the year 2011 as deadline for changing energy sources and reducing global pollution levels.

However, it is not clear whether Ahmadinejad’s “green” statements will be enough to keep the Western nations happy.

The White House announced on Wednesday that the Iranian long-range missile test had united the international community against the Islamic Republic, and blows out of the water Iran’s claims of a peaceful nuclear program.

London, England (CNN) — A secret document that appears to show that Iran was working on building nuclear weapons as recently as 2007 is “alarming” and “part of a body of evidence backing up deep concerns over Iran’s nuclear program,” a Western diplomatic source with knowledge of the papers told CNN on Monday.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear watchdog, has a copy of the secret papers, which were also obtained by the Times of London, the source said.

IAEA officials confirm they are investigating the document but said they have not formally asked Iran for more information about it.

A top international nuclear expert said it seemed to point to Iranian efforts to build a bomb.

“The only realistic use of this is in a nuclear weapon,” said David Albright, the president of the Institute for Science and International Security.

“The fact that the document comes out at this time makes it very difficult for Russia and China not to go along with more sanctions.”

“It shows that either Iran is developing the capability [to build nuclear weapons] or it is moving to implement a bomb program — and either one is bad,” said Albright, who reviewed the document for the Times before the newspaper published its report Sunday.

But Albright warned that the document is edited and has no date on it. The source who gave it to the Times said it was from 2007, but neither the Times nor the ISIS was able to date it definitively, Albright said.

In Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the Times’ “claim that Iran is working on the final and important component of a nuclear bomb is false and not worth paying any attention to,” the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

“This type of statement is made in the media to put political and psychological pressure [on Iran] by the officials of various countries,” Mehmanparast said, according to the Fars report.

United States intelligence concluded in 2007 that Iran had suspended work on its nuclear weapons program in 2003.

Mehrdad Khonsari, a former Iranian diplomat, says the revelation about the document “means, essentially … that the Iranians have been lying to everybody” when they said they were not seeking to build nuclear weapons.

Khonsari said it was no accident that this document appeared when it did.

In the 1970s and early ’80s, having seized control of the UN apparatus (by power of numbers), Third World countries decided to cash in.

OPEC was pulling off the greatest wealth transfer from rich to poor in history. Why not them? So in grand UN declarations and conferences, they began calling for a “New International Economic Order.” The NIEO’s essential demand was simple: to transfer fantastic chunks of wealth from the industrialized West to the Third World.

On what grounds? In the name of equality – wealth redistribution via global socialism

– with a dose of post-colonial reparations thrown in.

The idea of essentially taxing hard-working citizens of the democracies in order to fill the treasuries of Third World kleptocracies went nowhere, thanks mainly to Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher (and the debt crisis of the early ’80s). They put a stake through the enterprise.

But such dreams never die. The raid on the Western treasuries is on again, but today with a new rationale to fit current ideological fashion.

With socialism dead, the gigantic heist is now proposed as a sacred service of the newest religion: environmentalism.

ONE OF the major goals of the Copenhagen climate summit is another NIEO shakedown: the transfer of hundreds

of billions from the industrial West to the Third World to save the planet by, for example, planting green industries in the tristes tropiques.

Politically it’s an idea of genius, engaging at once every left-wing erogenous zone: rich man’s guilt, post-colonial guilt, environmental guilt.

But the idea of shaking down the industrial democracies in the name of the environment thrives not just in the refined internationalist precincts of Copenhagen.

On the day Copenhagen opened, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claimed jurisdiction over the regulation of carbon emissions by declaring them an “endangerment” to human health.

Since we operate an overwhelmingly carbon-based economy, the EPA will be regulating practically everything. No institution that emits more than 250 tons of CO2 a year will fall outside EPA control. This means over a million building complexes, hospitals, plants, schools, businesses and similar enterprises. (The EPA proposes regulating emissions only above 25,000 tons, but it has no such authority.) Not since the creation of the Internal Revenue Service has a federal agency been given more intrusive power over every aspect

of economic life.

This naked assertion of vast executive power in the name of the environment is the perfect fulfillment of the prediction of Czech President (and economist) Vaclav Klaus that environmentalism is becoming the new socialism, i.e. the totemic ideal in the name of which government seizes the commanding heights

of the economy and society.

Socialism having failed so spectacularly, the left was adrift until it struck upon a brilliant gambit: metamorphosis from red to green.

The cultural elites went straight from the memorial service for socialism to the altar of the environment. The objective is the same: highly centralized power given to the best and the brightest, the new class of experts, managers and technocrats. This time, however, the alleged justification is not abolishing oppression and inequality but saving the planet.

NOT EVERYONE is pleased with the coming New Carbon-Free International Order. When the Obama administration signaled (in a gesture to Copenhagen) a US commitment to major cuts in carbon emissions, Democratic Sen. Jim Webb wrote the president protesting that he lacks the authority to do so unilaterally. That requires congressional concurrence by legislation or treaty.

With the Senate blocking President Barack Obama’s cap-and-trade carbon legislation, the EPA coup d’etat served as the administration’s loud response to Webb: The hell we can’t. With this EPA “endangerment” finding, we can do as we wish with carbon. Either the Senate passes cap-and-trade, or the EPA will impose even more draconian measures: all cap, no trade.

Forget for a moment the economic effects of severe carbon chastity.

There’s the matter of constitutional decency.

If you want to revolutionize society – as will drastic carbon regulation and taxation in an energy economy that is 85 percent carbon-based – you do it through Congress reflecting popular will. Not by administrative fiat of EPA bureaucrats.

Congress should not just resist this executive overreaching, but trump it: Amend existing clean air laws and restore their original intent by excluding CO2 from EPA control and reserving that power for Congress and future legislation.

Do it now. Do it soon.

Because Big Brother isn’t lurking in a CIA cloak.

Chanukah is the Jewish “Feast of Dedication” or Hanukkah, which is observed from the 24th of Kisley to Tevet 2nd. This year it began on the night of December 11th and continues to December 18th.

It is found in John 10:22,23,

John 10:22,23 – And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. [23] And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.

The Feast of Dedication was a Jewish festival observed for eight days from the 25th of Kislev in commemoration of the reconsecration (165 BC) of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, and especially of the altar of burnt offering, after they had been desecrated in the persecution under Antiochus Epiphanes (168 BC). The distinguishing features of the festival were the illumination of houses and synagogues, a custom probably taken over from the Feast of Tabernacles, and the recitation of Psalm 30:1-12.

The time was around 167 BC or, if you’ re Jewish–BCE.

Prior to this date a young ruler named Alexander the Great, ruled the entire ancient world.

This period of time is referred to as “the Hellenistic period” (Greeks). His untimely death caused a power struggle and four of his generals split up the kingdom. The one that ended up with Israel was Antiochus IV.

This new Ruler of Israel commanded everyone to convert to Hellenism (Greek Metrology) and the Greek values that he held. Many did, even many of the Jews

of the land because they found it to be a very civilized way of life.

But, there were those Jews who held close to the Torah and God’s way of worship and refused to embrace Hellenism. In fact, Antiochus gave the Jews an ultimatum, to either give up their distinctive customs, such as worshipping on the Sabbath (Saturday), Circumcision, and Kosher Laws, or die.

One of the first things Antiochus did was to desecrate the Holy Temple. He ordered the utensils, such as the Menorah, Altar, and Table to be defiled and torn down. Then to be certain that he had accomplished his job, he ordered a pig to be sacrificed on the holy altar. After doing all of that, he order that a Greek god Zeus be worshiped in the Temple.

When Antiochus heard that the people were murmuring and talking about revolt against him, he marched his troops to a town in the foothills called Modi’in. His plan was to erect a false god in the city and force the people to worship it. Modi’in was the home of a priest named Mattathias who had five sons. He and his sons revolted and killed the soldiers and began the revolt against this evil ruler. One of Mattathias’s sons was Judah, and he became the new leader and was quickly nicknamed “Maccabee” (the Hammer in Hebrew). To bring this piece of history to a close we will just report that Maccabee and his men defeated the Greek armies and got rid of Antiochus.

The Maccabees now faced the task of restoring the Temple for Jewish worship to their Holy God. They cleansed the Temple and restored the furnishings. There was special attention given to the Menorah, for it symbolized the Light of God. They restored it and when they went to light it, they found there was a problem. This Menorah could only be used with special oil, and it took eight days to prepare such oil.

They found enough of this special oil to burn only one day. To celebrate the victory of the battle fought for their religious liberty, they decided to light the Menorah anyway and allow the light of God to shine forth with its glory, even if but for a day. But God gave them a miracle, and the oil lasted eight days, until the new oil was made ready. So today we have the eight days of the Feast of Dedication “Hanukkah.” It is also why you will see a nine branch Menorah instead of seven in most Jewish homes. It represents the miracle of the eight days the oil burned; the ninth branch (in the center) is the Shamash (Servant Lamp), which represents the Messiah.

There are many customs and traditions that brings one closer to God and understanding of His greatness associated with this holiday, but I want to keep this as short as possible. Each night for eight nights

a candle is lighted. The Shamash (the center) is always lit first, for it is from the Messiah that all light flows. It is then used to light each candle for the eight nights. Blessing is said and songs about Hanukkah sung. Gifts are given to the children each of the eight nights. During the lighting of the Shamash and the other candles are lit with the Shamash, the following blessings are said.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has set us apart by your commandments and commanded us to kindle the light of Hanukkah.

So after lighting the candles and singing the Hanukkah songs, you set down for a festive meal, each night

IDF Generals Deliver Sobering Chanukah Messages

(Israelnationalnews.com) Three of the Israel Defense Force’s (IDF) top commanders delivered sobering warnings of the country’s vulnerability to attack in public lectures and Chanukah ceremonies.

Maj-Gen Yoav Galant, Head of Southern Command, said in a conference at Ben Gurion University that the recent quiet period on the southern military front would probably prove temporary.

“Whether it is a matter of months or years,” he said, “we see the ill-boding clouds in more than one place.

We need to utilize the time that we now have in order to prepare – for war or for smaller threats.”

Military Intelligence Chief Maj-Gen Amos Yadlin said Tuesday at a conference held by the Institute for National Security Studies, that “Syria, Iran and Hizbullah have the ability to threaten Gush Dan [the greater Tel Aviv area]. Our enemies do not rest for a moment.”

“Even the lecture hall we are in is now under threat of steep-trajectory fire from three different fronts,” he said.

He added, however, that a peace treaty with Syria would trigger a positive change in the region.

“Taking Damascus out of the circle of hostility and ending its support for terror will reduce the threat on Israel,” he explained.

In the winter of 2009, not one Israeli soldier or civilian has been murdered in a terror attack, Yadlin said, noting that this is the first such winter in the past decades. The reason for the quiet, he explained, was a combination of Israeli deterrence and the price paid by Hizbullah in the Second Lebanon War and by Hamas in Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.
