Obama: ‘World mustn’t permit another Holocaust’

US President Barack Obama urged the world to combat anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial but did not refer to the threat of Iran, even as several other speakers at Thursday’s national Holocaust memorial ceremony warned about the danger Teheran poses to the Jewish state.

“How do we ensure that ‘never again’ isn’t an empty slogan, or merely an aspiration, but also a call to action

? I believe we start by doing what we are doing today – by bearing witness, by fighting the silence that is evil’s greatest co-conspirator,” Obama told the congressmen, diplomats and Jewish leaders gathered in the Capitol Rotunda.

He added that such tribute wasn’t “the end of our obligation; it’s just the beginning,” since “today and every day we have an opportunity as well as an obligation to confront these scourges” of anti-Semitism, Holocaust denial, racism and other forms of intolerance.

But Obama largely avoided any allusions to current political crises or their solutions, instead concluding by saying, “May each of us renew our resolve to do what must be done.

And may we strive each day, both individually and as a nation, to be among the righteous.”

In contrast, Israeli Ambassador Sallai Meridor, referred to the display on why Auschwitz wasn’t bombed in the US Holocaust Museum, which sponsored Thursday’s National Commemoration of the Days of Remembrance, before asking: “When a regime is again endangering world peace, terrorizing its neighbors and threatening to destroy the Jewish people, how will we meet this challenge, before it is too late?”

And US Holocaust Memorial Council Vice Chairman Joel Geiderman said pointedly, “In the names of the victims, I call on the assembled leaders and the rest of the world to ensure that no country that threatens such destruction will ever obtain the means to achieve it. Nuclear weapons in the hands of aggressor fanatics can’t be allowed.”

Elie Wiesel, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Holocaust survivor, labeled Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the world’s “number one Holocaust denier” and criticized the sponsors of the UN anti-racism conference in Geneva who gave him a platform this week.

Wiesel, in expressing his disappointment at the event, and the implication that the world had not learned the lessons of the Holocaust sufficiently, praised Obama for not participating.

“Thank you Mr.

President for deciding that America should boycott that gathering,” he said to applause.

The various Islamic Sects of Moderate and Extremist Islamic Nations and Groups are like Iron and Clay, in that they don’t cleave together very long.

Daniel 2:41-43 – And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. [42] And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

[43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

But God will turn the clay and iron toes into sharp horns, and hold them together long enough to fulfill his many Tribulation Period prophecies.

and he shall subdue three kings.

Meaningful peace won’t work if Hamas and Fatah are at odds

As representatives of Hamas and Fatah prepare to meet for the fourth round of national unity talks in Cairo, perhaps this month, not only Palestinians but also Americans and Europeans will be watching closely. The top-level talks, hosted by Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman, will be crucial to ending nearly two years of bloody confrontation between Hamas-ruled Gaza and the Fatah-ruled West Bank, governed by the Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Given previous failures, this round of talks might prove to be the final chance to re-establish Palestinian unity.

The continuing internal schism between the more moderate and secular Fatah and the Islamist Hamas has not only left the Palestinian leadership in disarray, but has also made meaningful peace negotiations with Israel next to impossible.

Moreover, continued internal disunity continues to thwart reconstruction efforts in Gaza, which are urgently needed in the aftermath of Israel’s military offensive earlier this year.

Thus, the outcome of the negotiations in Cairo will have repercussions for Palestinians and Israelis – and, indeed, for anyone with a stake in the Middle East peace process.

In previous rounds of talks, the different factions agreed in principle to forming a united government for the West Bank and Gaza, and to holding legislative and presidential elections in the Palestinian territories by January 2010. But Fatah and Hamas still differ fundamentally on how to form a government tasked to prepare elections. Discussions also center on the control of the security services – a field in which neither Fatah nor Hamas has much room to maneuver. Disagreement also prevails on the type of electoral system to be used. Whereas Fatah favors a clear majority voting system, Hamas calls for a more personalized approach.

Furthermore, the question of including Hamas in the Palestine Liberation Organization is crucial. Contrary to common perception, the PLO has always been the only official negotiating partner with Israel and does not include Hamas. In a rather obscure linguistic debate, Hamas has in previous negotiation rounds refused to “commit’ itself to past PLO agreements with Israel, but has instead offered to “respect” them. Negotiators in Cairo will thus have to discuss if such an indirect recognition of Israel’s right to exist will be acceptable.

Underneath this clear-cut quid pro quo of political bargaining, the representatives from Fatah and Hamas are charged with finding the means to reconcile Hamas’ tremendously popular political ideology with Fatah’s traditional secular aspirations. This is not merely an internal Palestinian affair, for it reflects a conflict raging across the entire Middle East. Until now, no Arab society has managed to harmonize these opposing trends. Instead, most governments have opted for a more or less confrontational approach of suppression and exclusion, banning Islamists from participating in elections or bullying them into semi-legality. The case of the Palestinian territories, however, is different.

In the absence of a strong central authority, the predominant divide between secular nationalism and politicized religion has led to the actual geographic disintegration of the Palestinian territories into two distinct parts. Given the difficulties that even major players in the region face when dealing with the challenge of political Islam, it becomes clear that for the Abbas-led Palestinian Authority, only compromise and dialogue is a feasible way to heal the rift.

The fate of the Cairo talks is anything but certain.

Failure to come up with a unified Palestinian position would play into the hands of the newly elected Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu.

He has made it clear that he favors continued conflict management in terms of “economic peace” over far-reaching political processes based on mutual respect and cooperation.

Faced with continued internal division, pressing for a meaningful peace process is very difficult for the Palestinians. As a consequence, Israel’s willy-nilly expansion of West Bank settlements might finally bury comprehensive peace efforts for good.

But success in Cairo might prove even more challenging.

If the negotiations lead to the establishment of a Palestinian government supported by both Fatah and Hamas, there will be a tough choice to make – not primarily for Palestinians, but first and foremost for Western decision makers. Will the West continue its policy of boycotting Hamas politically and financially, or will it adopt an alternative approach?

Given Hamas’ belligerent ideology, any change in the West’s approach toward Hamas in the aftermath of successful Palestinian dialogue in Cairo would be difficult. But a modified and more pragmatic stance that focuses on Hamas’ behavior on the ground, rather than on abstract conditions, would not only be demanding for Western decision makers; it would pose a major political challenge for Hamas as well.

I am grateful for my time in the National Security Agency. I learned a great deal about nation behavioral patterns and the individual political greed in government, organizations, manufacturing, and business. What I learned had convinced me by the time I retired in 1971 that the United States would not defend Israel against Islamic aggression in the final war of the age of the Gentiles. I have taught America would not actively defend Israel in the final war, to

the extent of involving itself in the conflict, for the last 34 years. Russia, China, and Europe will do the same until the final single battle of Armageddon. America will evacuate Israelis into the Negev by air, but she will not fire against the Islamic forces of Antichrist. Israel and Islam will slug it out in the initial attack until Israel is driven into the Negev, then Russia, Europe, China, America, and the United Nations will push for a truce, as they have in all the other wars, which will occur, and Israel will be left cut off in the Negev for some three and one-half years.

I have taught continuously the United States will not commit ground support or direct combatant military air support engagement, when Israel is initially attacked by the forces of Islam, nor will Russia and China provide the same kind of support for Islamic forces during the initial attack. The initial attack by Islamic forces will be a success. It will be strictly an Islam versus Jew war, and Israel will

be driven into the Negev. Israel will storm back out of the Negev some three and one half years later to drive north and east to claim Abraham’s land grant in Genesis 15:18.

Many of the nations of the earth will provide logistic and humanitarian assistance to one or both sides, depending on their national interests, for three and one half years.

The final battle of Armageddon will occur at the end of the three and one half years, and the nations of the known world, (at the time John wrote the Book of Revelation in about 96 A.D.), will join the Islamic nations in a final attempt to destroy the Jews forever. It is at that time the Lord Jesus Christ will return at His Second Advent to destroy the armies of Islam and those nations joined with them, killing most of them by the greatest geological upheaval in the great Jordan Rift Valley the world has known since God placed man on this earth.

Although I taught non-direct involvement by America in the final Middle East war, I realized it was possible I could be wrong, but when the Democrats regained power in Congress, my confidence zoomed, and when Obama was elected President, all my doubt was removed. With our far left Democratic Congress, plus an outer space far left liberal President, you may rest assured Israel is pretty much on its own! Israel is in for a long chain of shocks.

Israel shocked by Obama’s approval of large Turkish arms sale to Lebanon

DEBKAfile quotes senior Israeli military circles as staggered by the discovery that US president Barack Obama had approved a large Turkish arms sale to the Lebanese army, including the services of Turkish military instructors.

This was taken as further proof that the US president is deaf to Israel’s immediate security concerns. Lebanese president Gen. Michel Suleiman has more than once threatened neighboring Israel. When he signed the arms deal in Ankara Tuesday, April 21, he once again pledged publicly to place the Lebanese army at the disposal of the Shiite terrorist Hizballah in any confrontation with Israel.

If that happened, said one Israeli source, Israel could find itself under attack not just by Hizballah as in the past, but by a Lebanese army, well trained and armed by Turkey. He noted that more than 50 percent of Lebanon’s fighting manpower are Shiites loyal to Hizballah.

The conviction is growing in Jerusalem that the US president endorsed the transaction as a means of breaking up the long-standing military pact between Israel and Turkey, because it interferes with his Middle East objectives.

Our sources note that neither Washington nor Ankara bothered to inform Israel of the transaction or its scope.

After meeting Turkish president Abdullah Gul, Suleiman at the head of a large Lebanese military delegation signed the contracts for the sale and declared with deep satisfaction: “We reviewed the new [US] policies towards the region in the light of President Obama’s recent visit to Turkey.”

Democratic Control of U.S. Congress is Bad News for Israel!

I have always contended, from a prophetic standpoint, that as the final countdown toward the “fullness of the Gentiles coming in” approached, the world would see a noticeable decline in the United States support for the cause of Israel, and when the final “push and shove” actually began in the last Middle East war, the support given Israel would be much more limited than promised. I have always contended that the awesome power of God, following the conquest of Jerusalem by Islam in the last days, would cause God to go forward and fight for Israel with perhaps the greatest display of tectonic chaos mankind has ever experienced. I believe God will directly destroy the enemies of Israel by his own power. She will not be delivered by the strength of the world’s most powerful nation.

Romans 11:25 – For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in.

The Democratic Control of Congress will cause an earlier Iraq withdrawal, a diminishing support for the Biblical Land Rights of Israel, and less help for Israel when she is attacked in a United Jihad.

DEBKAfile Exclusive: The White House intimates to Israeli PM that his scheduled visit to Washington next Monday, Nov. 13, would be untimely

The Democratic midterm election victory and the defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s coming replacement by Robert Gates will usher in radical Middle East policy changes that will apply also to Israel. For now, policy-making is in a state of flux, and as long as Bush has not got together with Democratic leaders to forge a bipartisan position, there is no point in the prime minister’s visit, it was indicated.

A senior US official told DEBKAfile sources Wednesday night: Olmert would be wise not to insist on the visit going ahead on time,” but rather take note of the president’s stress in his first speech after the election that he is waiting for the bipartisan Iraq commission headed by ex-secretary of state James Baker and former Democratic congressman Lee Hamilton to submit their report. Bush means to base his work with the Democrats on these findings.

Since the report is not just about Iraq but encompasses the full range of US policies for the Middle East and the Arab and Muslim world which will require time to air, the Olmert visit next week would be premature.

According to this official, the Baker-Hamilton panel is charting drastic changes in administration policy on Israel, whose speedy implementation is recommended as the key to extricating the US from its imbroglio in Iraq.

Hinging the solution of Middle East problems as a whole on the Palestinian-Israeli issue has always been the Democratic way. It is favored in particular by Nancy Pelosi of California who, as her party’s candidate for next Speaker of the House of Representatives, will become one of Washington’s most influential politicians. This was also Baker’s line under George Bush senior in t he 1980s, w

hen he dragged Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir to the Madrid Peace Conference against his will.

The White House also has a bone to pick with Olmert over his remark in a television program this week when he said that two world-class leaders were working to arrange a meeting for him with Lebanese prime minister Fouad Siniora. US officials deny this and say this indiscretion placed in jeopardy the efforts to bolster the Lebanese government and even put Siniora in danger of his life. Olmert has a perfectly valid pretext for postponing his Washington visit in the extremely high security tension following the Beit Hanoun episode.

Ezekiel 38:13 – Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, sh

all say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Verse 13 mentions three other descendants which were not mentioned previously as being among the horde that attacked Israel, namely, Sheba, Dedan, and Tarshish. Sheba and Dedan settled in the land we know as Saudi Arabia, later colonizing across the Red Sea in the horn we know today as Ethiopia. Tarshish is much harder to nail down to a specific location. The descendants of Tarshish were sea merchants who became the peoples of the Mediterranean Sea coast. The headquarters of the descendants of Tarshish is now generally accepted by most biblical authorities as a district in the south of Spain where the city of Tartessus once existed. The merchants of Tarshish scattered their descendants in village settlements along most of the coastal sections of Europe. I am persuaded that Europe represents the descendant offspring of Tarshish. It is quite possible that God may look upon the rest of Western Civilization as being the offspring (descendants) of Europe (“the young lions thereof”). The countries of the New World became the “melting pot” of Europe. It is very interesting what Saudi Arabia, Europe, and the rest of Western Civilization have to say to Gog about his attack on Israel: “Art thou come to take a spoil? Hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? To carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?” This is no more or less than the perfect description of a diplomatic protest to Gog’s actions. When the anti-Christ and his armies roar south into Israel in a blitzkrieg lightning strike, the rest of the free world will protest, protest, protest – and do nothing about it. The anti-Christ will take Jerusalem within four days of his initial strike in the north, and

within three weeks most of Israel will have fled into the Negev south of Beersheva, where she will remain for some three and one-half years. Jerusalem will fall and only one-third of Israel’s population will make it safely into the Negev.

BEGIN 2002 PROPHECY UPDATE NUMBER 71A

June 8, 2002

WHEN ISRAEL IS SUDDENLY VISIOUSLY ATTACKED IN A SURPRISE LIGHTNING JIHAD BLITZKRIEG FROM ITS NORTH, WHY DOESN’T THE U.S. ATTACK THE ISLAMIC GROUP OF NATIONS THAT ARE ATTACKING HER?

This is a question I have been asked over and over again for a long time. I was asked again on e-mail recently, and this time, rather than answering the query privately, I decided to make it a prophecy update, so that that in future I could just attach this update to any new query and save myself repeating it again.

The one thing that I learned in the National Security Agency which has been, is, and always will be the motivating factor in any decision made by any country, including the United States, may be simply stated in two words: NATIONAL INTEREST. Many will cry out and say, not so, we did it for humanitarian reasons, we did it to secure justice, we did it out of compassion, we did it out of love, we did it because we love freedom, we did it because we are a great nation: and on and on shall come statements from every realm of society, from “bleeding” liberal hearts to the “hardened” hearts of the extreme right, all giving different reasons as to why this country did something. But the truth of the matter is that, in the end, we always did it for what amounted to NATIONAL INTEREST.

The United States has quick response attack naval and marine forces in position at all times to put down a banana republic type of minor conflict on short notice. But in order to conduct a successful operation again a Jihad the magnitude of the coming attack of many nations against Israel, we would require some time to get enough regular ground troops in place to have a real hope of victory. It took us a very long time to get enough men and equipment into the Middle East to insure success in our victory against Iraq. The Scriptures indicate that 10 Islamic nations will be led by the Antichrist, and that they will quickly take Jerusalem and drive Israel into the Negev. When Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran come pouring southward on both sides of the Samarian mountains, and the Palestinians break out in all directions internally from within the enclosed buffer zone, chaos will reign supreme from Dan to Beersheva. There will be so much inner mingling of the attack forces of Israel and those of the enemy with the fleeing civilian population that air strikes would kill as many on one side as the other. Since the U.S. is fully aware of the Israel War Contingency Plan to evacuate as much of the population as possible to the Negev if overrun from the north, it will set in shock and indecision until it is too late to do anything except help to evacuate some of the coastal population from Tel Aviv to Haifa into the Negev, and to air lift supplies into the Negev. The aircraft of the Islamic nations will be under orders not to fire on western power’s aircraft unless fired upon, because the one thing they will not want is for the U.S. to get actively engaged with them in an all out war.

Once Israel has evacuated as much of its population into the Negev as possible, and the U.S. sees that the Arabs are not going past Beersheva, we will accept the status quo as best for all. Why? Because it will satisfy our NATIONAL INTEREST! How? Israel will be safe and we will still be able to receive Arab Oil shipments.

Revelation 12:5,6 – And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all NATIONS with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. [6] And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that THEY should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

NATIONS in verse 5 is the precedent to THEY in verse 6.

This is the beginning of the final 1260 days that lead up to the final battle of Armageddon, and at this time only 10 Arab nations are involved, so nations such as the U.S., Great Britain, Australia, and Canada will air lift all sorts of supplies into the Negev for Israel, and the Arab nations won’t do a thing to stop it because they will not want to be involved in a world war at this time.

Revelation 12:14 – And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Seventy percent of the total Jewish population of Israel exists in the narrow coastal strip from Tel Aviv to Haifa. The western powers (symbolized as uncircumcised Philistines) will air lift many from this area into the Negev, flying first toward the west over the Mediterranean, then southeast over the Sinai into the Negev. After 1260 days Israel will storm north, northeast, and east out of the Negev, driving deep into Syria, and across all of Jordan to the Euphrates River, and will thus claim the Abrahamic Land Grant given to Abraham. Isaiah 11:14 – But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. (See Prophecy Update Number 71)

Micah 5:6 – And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders. (See Prophecy Update Number 67)

Down through the last 200 years we have built up a picture of an antichrist who rises slowly to power over a moderate period of time, then signs a peace treaty that lasts for 3 and ½ years, only to break it at that time to start the final 1260 days of the tribulation period. I agree that he attacks Israel to begin the final 1260 days of the tribulation period, but am persuaded what is pictured before the attack is largely manufactured on misinterpretation of Daniel 9:27, an error of early 1800. The rise of antichrist will be quick, as will be the events that follow his appearance. So I am saying that whenever he comes on the scene it will not be a long, drawn out affair from his appearance until his demise. In Prophecy Updates Numbers 55, 56, 57, and 58 I outlined the view that was held by most theologians before 1830, which is the belief I hold today.

In Chapter 38 of Ezekiel, in verses 2 through 6, it identifies the groupings of those peoples who will initially attack Israel from the north. But in verse 13 it identifies groupings of peoples that will not attack Israel at this time.

Ezekiel 38:13 – Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

The closest thing to which I can relate their two questions in today’s modern vernacular is what we would identify as being a “diplomatic protest.”

You may check all reference sources available today as to the location of the descendants of Sheba and Dedan in 600 B.C., when this prophecy was written, and you will find they are almost unanimous that it represents modern day Saudi Arabia. I believe Saudi Arabia will be as surprised as the United States when Israel is attacked. I also believe Egypt, who is attacked by the antichrist after he drives Israel into the Negev, will also be shocked by his attack on Israel, and then on themselves.

Daniel 11:42 – He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

The descendants of Tarshish were sea faring men. According to most historians they first established colonies along the coasts of the Mediterranean, then along the coasts of western and northern France, and finally along the coasts of Denmark and Sweden. As such they could represent what we call Europe, and all the western nations, which were established out of European nations, could be “the young lions thereof.”

So I expect the only part that the United States will play in this war will be to violently diplomatically protest, protest, protest, and then protest some more. I believe we will air lift many into the Negev to satisfy our NATIONAL INTEREST vested in our large Jewish population, and will continue to air lift all sorts of supplies into them for a long time. I believe we will not attack in order to prevent a massive outcry of American motherhood in a fantastic body bag count, which is not in the NATIONAL INTEREST, and the loss of Arab oil would most assuredly not be in our NATIONAL INTEREST.

One day, when I kept banishing around this term we identified as NATIONAL INTEREST in the agency, I was asked: Would you define NATIONAL INTEREST? Now, this is not the agency definition, it is mine!

NATIONAL INTEREST IS WHAT WILL ALLOW A PARTY TO STAY IN OFFICE OR TO GET IN OFFICE. IT WAS NOT THAT WAY IN THE BEGINNING, BUT THAT’S THE WAY IT IS NOW, AND IT WILL STAY THAT WAY UNTIL JESUS RETURNS.

Jesus was not allowed to bring in the “Peace” of his “Kingdom” on his First Advent Arrival because Israel would not confess him as their Savior Messiah, and the basic carnality of man has increased to the proportions Paul said would be manifested in the last days, just as Christ indicated himself. Those who confess him as Savior, he saves – Those who deny him, he does not save. Those who confess him are crucified with him when they confess him, and their remaining life in the flesh is supposed to be surrendered to him – and both of these phenomena are totally by God’s grace, because it is Christ in the believer doing the works of God.

But Christ will definitely bring the “Peace of His “Kingdom” on his Second Advent Arrival.

The world was not ready for his First Advent, nor is it ready for his Second Advent.

II Peter 3:3,4,9,13-15 – Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

[9]The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. [13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

[14] Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. I hope you, AS A reader of the following parable, is ready for his Second Visitation!

It was intended for both the saved and the lost. The majority of believers express an opinion they think his SECOND VISITATION AND HIS KINGDOM WILL SOON APPEAR, but how many do you think are “READY FOR IT IN THEIR SERVICE TO HIM?” I know he meant what he said: “OCCUPY TILL I COME!”

The Greek word translated “OCCUPY” (pra-gra-teu-o-mai) in the parable appears only once in the Bible. It means “to be doing, to be busy or occupied, to do business, i.e., to trade, to traffic – and the connotation is to do it naturally, every day in your normal walk of life. as your service to God.

Luke 19:10-48 – For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. [11] And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear. [12] He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. An Islamist ‘new world order’

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member-states at the Durban II gathering in Geneva is pushing for “a new world order” that would expand and impose “nondemocratic and illiberal values on the West,” says the Danish editor who in 2005 commissioned and published a series of cartoons, one of which depicted the prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban that led to worldwide Muslim rioting.

Flemming Rose, editor of Jyllands-Posten, Denmark’s largest-circulation newspaper, is visiting Israel under the auspices of the Hebrew University’s Shasha Center for Strategic Studies, headed by former Mossad director Efraim Halevy. He’s here to lecture on how nations need to find the right balance between religious sensitivities and freedom of expression.

Rose says the OIC is trying to use Durban II to rewrite the rules of human rights and international law in a way that undermines the values of liberty enshrined in the Western canon – including the US Bill of Rights, the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

It’s all part of an ongoing Muslim campaign that has been making significant strides, says Rose.

European liberal values, which dominated United Nations voting following the fall of the Soviet Union, are now in retreat. Muslim states attending Durban II are pushing the conference to say that criticizing Islam is a form of incitement.

“We’re seeing an erosion of support in the West for freedom of expression in the guise of preventing incitement against Islam,” says Rose.

He wants the West to stop being so defensive, pointing out that “Muslims in Demark enjoy far more civil and political rights than they would have in their home countries.”

Rose would distinguish between criticizing Islam as a theological and political idea and insulting its adherents.

“I spent many years in the former Soviet Union as a foreign correspondent and married a Russian woman. I am a strong anti-communist, but my late Russian father-in-law was a staunch Stalinist. I abhorred his convictions, but felt love and tenderness for him as an individual.”

His experience in the Soviet Union gave him a “very strong antagonism against self-censorship and intimidation of people because of what they are saying.”

In Muslim society, he notes, the rights of the dominant religion and culture are paramount. In the West, it is the rights of the individual that reign supreme.

Rose argues that in a globalized world, the idea that Westerners conduct their lives according to Western values while Muslims conduct theirs according to Muslim values simply does not work – because globalization involves both technology and human migration.

“When you publish in Denmark, you can read it within minutes in a totally different political and cultural context. At the same time, every European society is getting more complicated culturally and ethnically. Different taboos and moral codes are forced to live together.”

Within their own world, says Rose, Muslims “do not see their own minorities. And when they come to the West, they continue to behave as if they were in the majority.”

In this context, the West has no choice but to stand firm on its values – because Muslims are constantly pushing theirs. In our interconnected world, the old model of live and let live simply doesn’t make sense.

What Rose would really like to see is reciprocity. He dreams of challenging Muslims: “Accept my taboos, and I will accept yours. If it is a crime to build a church in Saudi Arabia, then it should be illegal to build a mosque in Europe.”

But such an approach, he readily admits, is unacceptable because it would lead to an intolerable decrease in freedom.

He talks about “sleeper” blasphemy laws – statutes that have long been on the books in European countries, and that Muslims are trying to reinvigorate. He argues for a “redefinition” of the concept of blasphemy so that it is not exclusively about religion but includes values, classical liberal ones as well.

Were it up to Rose, the only free speech restrictions he’d allow are those that prevent incitement to violence, and discourage libel and infringement on privacy.

“All other restrictions – like blasphemy laws, some of which date back to the 1930s – I’d get rid of.”

The key, says Rose, is for the West to continue to emphasize individual rights and not, as in Muslim society, collective

rights.

That leads him to make the controversial case for repealing legislation that makes Holocaust denial a crime – even though he feels strongly that the Shoah was a unique event in history, “without precedence. But I think it is a question of morality that you deal with through education and debate; it is not something you legislate. I would only leave [the Holocaust denial law] on the books if you could prove that repealing it would lead to violence.

That is not a danger in today’s Europe.”

USE OF THE HYPERBOLE IN PROPHECY

June 23, 2002

THE WORD HYPERBOLE COMES FROM THE GREEK – IT MEANS TO DELIBERATELY THROW OUTSIDE OR INSIDE A MARKED LINE FOR AN “EFFECT.” IT MAKES THE AREA LARGER OR SMALLER THAN IT ACTUALLY IS, “EXAGGERATION FOR EFFECT,” BUT IS NOT MEANT TO BE TAKEN LITERALLY, EXAGGERATING OR DIMISHING BEYOND THE FACT, EXCEEDING THE TRUTH.” IT IS EMPLOYED AT TIMES IN PROPHECY TO IDENTIFY THE AREA AS ONE THAT IS SMALLER OR LARGER. IT IS NOT A LIE BECAUSE THE HEARER OR READER IS ACQUAINTED WITH THE USE OF HYPERBOLE AS AN EXAGGERATED STATEMENT. EXPRESSIONS LIKE “THE WHOLE EARTH, ALL THE WORLD, WHERESOEVER MEN SHALL DWELL ON THE EARTH, ETC. ARE, AT TIMES, NOT REFERRING TO THE ENTIRE MASS SURFACE OF THE EARTH FROM POLE TO POLE AND AROUND ITS EQUATOR. I BELIEVE THIS HAS CAUSED MANY TO EXAGGERATE THE SIZE AND STRENGTH OF THE FINAL EMPIRE OF ANTICHRIST.

I DO NOT BELIEVE ANTICHRIST WILL CONTROL THE “WHOLE WORLD” AS WE KNOW TODAY. IF I AM CORRECT, MANY ARE GOING TO BE SHOCKED.

I WILL NOT BE ONE OF THEM BECAUSE I AM PREPARED TO ACCEPT EITHER WAY.

NONE OF THE FOLLOWING HISTORICAL PROPHESIED EMPIRES EVER DOMINATED WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE WORLD OF TODAY.

Daniel 8:5,21,22 – And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west ON THE FACE OF THE WHOLE EARTH, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. [21] And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. [22] Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

Daniel 2:32-34,38,39 – This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, [33] His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. [34] Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. [38] And WHERESOEVER THE CHILDREN OF MEN DWELL, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler OVER THEM ALL. Thou art this head of gold. [39] And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule OVER ALL THE EARTH.

Daniel 7:3,23-27,11-14 – And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. [23] Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour THE WHOLE EARTH, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. [24] And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. [25] And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. [26] But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. [27] And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the

kingdom UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. [11] I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. [12] As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. [13] I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. [14] And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. (Please note that his millennial empire of Christ will take in everything “UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN.” This expression would include the earth as we know it today.)

I BELIEVE THE SCRIPTURES WHICH FOLLOW CONTAIN HYPERBOLE THAT IDENTIFY THE KNOWN WORLD OF JOHN’S DAY, NOT ALL THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT TODAY.

Revelation 13:1,2,5-12,16,17 – And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. [2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power,

and his seat, and great authority. [5] And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. [6] And he opened his mouth in blasphemy aga

inst God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. [7] And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over ALL kindreds, and tongues, and nations. [8] And ALL THAT DWELL UPON THE EARTH shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. [9] If any man have an ear, let him hear.

[10] He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. [11] And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. [12] And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth THE EARTH AND THEM WHICH DWELL THEREIN to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. [16] And he causeth ALL, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: [17] And that NO man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 17:12-18 – And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. [14] These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. [15] And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. [16] And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. [17] For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. [18] And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over THE KINGS OF

THE EARTH.

AS INDICATED PREVIOUSLY, SCRIPTURES THAT USE THE HEAVENS TO DESCRIBE THE AREA OF THE EARTH, INTENDED

TO BE CONVEYED TO US TODAY, MEAN THE WHOLE EARTH AS WE KNOW IT TODAY.

THREE SCRIPTURES WHICH FOLLOW ARE OF THAT TYPE:

Daniel 7:27 + Matthew 24:31 + Mark 13:27 – And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom UNDER THE WHOLE HEAVEN, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. [31] And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, FROM ONE END OF HEAVEN TO THE OTHER. [27] And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the UTTER-MOST PART OF THE EARTH TO THE UTTER-MOST PART OF HEAVEN.

BUT THE FOUR SCRIPTURES WHICH FOLLOW MEAN THE WORLD AS IT WAS KNOWN WHEN JOHN WROTE THE BOOK OF REVELATION.

Romans 1:8 + Colossians 1:5,6 + Acts 19:27 + 24:5 – First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE WORLD.

[5] For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; [6] Which is come unto you, as it is IN ALL THE WORLD; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth: [27] So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom ALL ASIA AND THE WORLD WORSHIPPETH.

[5] For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:

Revelation 12:9,17 – And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth THE WHOLE WORLD: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. [17] And the dragon was wroth with

the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Daniel 2:39-44 – And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule OVER ALL THE EARTH. [40] And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. [41] And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be DIVIDED; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. [42] And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be PARTLY strong, and PARTLY broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall MINGLE themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not CLEAVE one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. [44] And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The conclusions that I draw from all these Scriptures are as follows:

(1) The Antichrist will only dominate the known world of John’s day.

(2) His empire will be weak because of a composition of nations that don’t hold together well.

(3) When an expression is used referring to the size of his empire in the book of Revelation it is used as a hyperbole.
and does not refer to the known world of today.
(4) I do not believe the mark of the beast will be put on residents of the western hemisphere.

(5) I do believe it will be put on in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and parts of Asia.

The Antichrist will certainly have great influence on the nations of the western world, but he will not dominate them.

I am certainly prepared to be wrong in my belief in the size of his empire and in the degree of his domination. In other words, I know the popular teachings of many men and women on this subject, and I am prepared for their antichrist, but are they prepared for mine?

Most of the believ ing world is prepared for an antichrist that arises

in Europe and dominates the entire world as we know it today. The area of the size of his empire, as it is taught today, arose in the early 19th century, and was solidified by most writers in the 20th century. If I am correct about the size and dominion of his empire then many are going to be shocked when he finally shows up on the scene. In any case, I am persuaded we are going to find out the literal answer, as to its size, before 2015. I am prepared for an empire that controls the known world of today or one that only extends over the area occupied by the four beasts of Daniel. In any case, WATCH THE MIDDLE EAST for the answer – I believe we will know within the next six years.
