Palestinian meet stresses right of return

DAMASCUS, Syria

A gathering of radical Palestinian factions and their supporters has highlighted the Palestinian refugees’ right to return to homes in present-day Israel.

The two-day meeting in Damascus concluded that Palestinians can resort to “resistance” – terrorist jargon for armed fighting – as the fastest way to achieve this return, despite the fact the the Arab world has lost virtually every single war it has initiated since the inception of the Jewish state.

About 5,000 participants attended, including terror group Hamas and other groups.

A final declaration Monday said no Palestinian can forgo the right to return and that legal, economic and media campaigns should be used to defend this.

The conference meant to show opposition to moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his negotiations with Israel.

It called on the United Nations to expel Israel from its ranks.

The events that have unfurled in Southern Lebanon over the past 20 years

are now blending into the scenario of final prophetic fulfillment of Daniel 11:40, which is the beginning of the final war of the Age of the Gentiles. I have described this scenario in numerous Prophecy Updates and Blogs since we began our Web Site eight years ago. The arrival of Iranian General Suleimani amidst the Hizbullah terrorist army in Southern Lebanon marks the intensification of training for a well staged ambush attack against Israel when she attacks Hizbullah at some point in time between 2010 and 2015. The scenario I have put out for years (which follows) precedes the article from DEBKAfile about General Suleimani.

The scenario was taken from a previous lecture series I delivered in California using an overhead projector.

THE SCENARIO

Event 1 – The Antichrist will lead an Islamic force in a massive counterattack out of Syria and Lebanon against Israel.

Daniel 11:40 – And at THE TIME OF THE END shall the king of the south (Israel) push at him: and the king of the north (Syria) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. (See Archive Prophecy Update Number 234A)

Hizbullah (With Syrian and Lebanese Approval) will launch a bevy of rockets at Israel into heavily populated Israeli areas. The King of the South (Israel) will respond immediately with a massive thrust from the south across Lebanon’ s northern border.

But the bevy of rockets were launched for the sole purpose of forcing the IDF to make the attack in order to lure them into a military trap set by Syria and Hizbullah, with Lebanon support.

Israel will be shocked to discover they are facing a vast contingency of Islamic troops from several Arab countries, which have slipped across into Syria and Lebanon in several ways over a long period of time.

This massive force, led by the King of the North (Syria) will launch a preplanned vicious counterattack against the King of the South (Israel). What is left of Israel, after being pushed south from Dan to Beersheba, will occupy the Negev Wilderness for some three and one-half years.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman (Israel) fled into the wilderness (Negev), where she hath a place prepared of God, that they (Friendly Nations) should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore (1260) days.

LAST 1260 DAYS OF THE AGE OF THE GENTILES!

WHICH ENDS AT ARMAGEDDON & 2ND ADVENT!

Event 2 – Islamic forces will sweep south on both sides of the mountains of Galilee and Samaria, and the City of Jerusalem will be conquered.

But a residue of Israel will not be forever cut off from Jerusalem. The Lord will bring them back at his Second Advent.

Zechariah 14:1,2 – Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. [2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the

city. (Residue won’t be cut off forever)

The Jewish population in Israel will be driven into their planned war contingency evacuation area, which is the gigantic Negev Wilderness extending from Beersheba to Eilat, bordering on Jordan to the east, and the Egyptian Sinai on the west.

Only 1/3 of the Israelis will survive.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman (Israel) fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. (Prophetic years have 360 days)

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but THE THIRD shall be left THEREIN.

Approximately 1.9 Million Israelis will make it to safety in the Negev Wilderness. Most of those in the environs of Jerusalem and on the eastern side of the Mountains of Galilee, Samaria, and Judea will flee by ground transportation. Most of those on the western side of these Mountains from Tel Aviv to Haifa will be air evacuated out of Tel Aviv to the Negev.

Revelation 12:14 – And to the woman were given two wings of a GREAT EAGLE, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, (1 year) and times (2 years), and half a time (1/2 year), from the face of the serpent.

Iranian general leads Hizballah war exercise integrated with Tehran, Damascus

Hizballah’s military maneuver Saturday, Nov. 22, in an area south of the Litani River barred by the UN gave Iran’s Al Qods chief, Gen. Qassem Suleimani, a chance to personally check on its Lebanese proxy’s ability to draw up battle lines at speed against a potential Israeli tank incursion of the Beqaa Valley.

DEBKAfile’s military sources also disclose exclusively that the exercise provided Tehran’s first opportunity to test the functioning of the senior staff quarters in Khoramshahr near the Iranian-Iraqi border, which have taken over direct command of the Lebanese terrorist group.

Its maneuver was fully integrated with the military exercises staged across Iran over the week-end and coordinated with Syrian army headquarters in Damascus.

For the first time, all the pro-Iranian military elements on Israel’ s border

s have now been pulled together for a joint maneuver by a high-ranking Iranian general. As of Nov. 22, therefore, Iran, Syria and Lebanon are tightly meshed into a Tehran-led combined front against any war contingency.

This development seriously upgrades the peril Iran poses to Israel’s security and brings it right up to its back door.

On the ground, Hizballah’s field commanders practiced interchanges – and tested their communications links – with Syria’s 10th and 14th divisions deployed opposite South Lebanon and the Israeli border positions on Mount Hermon, Mount Dov and the Chebaa Farms.

Formally, the al Qods Brigades is a unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps, but Gen. Suleimani, whose mandate covers Iran’s extraterritorial surrogates and sponsored terrorist movement, enjoys broad autonomy and answers directly only to supreme ruler Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Engrossed in a tough election campaign, Israel’s leaders responded feebly to this development, merely commenting on Hizballah’s “brazen” violation of UN Security Council ceasefire resolution 1701 of 2006, which closed Lebanon south of the Litani to Hizballah gunmen.

One defense ministry official affirmed that Hizballah had been armed with “tens of thousands of Iranian rockets,” without indicating what Israel intended to do about this menacing arsenal.

Hizballah manipulated from Tehran and Damascus is going full steam ahead with its war preparations without apparent fear of Israeli interference.

None of the enemies of the United States and Israel want to see a nuclear war in the Middle East or anywhere else on the planet. All of them, certainly including Syria, Iran, Russia, and China are fully aware of the massive inventory of WMD possessed by both the U.S. and Israel. The major advantage of America and Israel is nuclear, not the convention elements of warfare that include such things as huge numbers of military personnel

and military hardware.

They also have an advantage by already being a part of the huge continent between the Bay of Biscay and the Bering Straits, which gives them a tremendous advantage in faster transport of massive military supplies

by mainland transportation.

Iran will develop a nuclear warhead, and an arsenal of nuclear warheads, but they will not launch a pre-emptive strike against Israel, nor will Israel launch one against them. The blasts and radiation effects would kill millions more of Allah’s followers than Jews or Americans in the Middle East, since the atomic fallout particles would spread across many

of Israel’s surrounding Islamic nations.

The Antichrist would hardly return to Jerusalem from Egypt and sit on the Temple Mound at Armageddon if it had been destroyed by a nuclear warhead or if it was blanketed by deadly thermonuclear radiation.

Daniel 11:43 to 12:1 – But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. [44] But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. [45] And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. [1] And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

There will not be a major war in the Middle East until: (1) American troops are out of Iraq, (2) Iran has what it considers a sufficient arsenal of deliverable nuclear for deterrent purposes, and (3) A fully operational Russian Iskander Missile Defense System is in place. The earliest possible time I believe all this could be possible is 2010 and the latest would be 2015.

Iran has enough material for one bomb’

Iran will have enough highly enriched uranium by the end of 2009 to produce its first nuclear weapon, a former top official in the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission told The Jerusalem Post Thursday, refuting a New York Times article which claimed that the Islamic Republic already had sufficient nuclear material to create a weapon.

Both the article and veteran Israeli nuclear expert Ephraim Asculai’s remarks came in response to a report released Wednesday by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in which the United Nations nuclear watchdog claimed that, as of early this month, Iran had amassed 630 kilograms of low-enriched uranium (LEU).

According to the IAEA report, Iran was enriching uranium with the just over 3,800 centrifuges it had installed in an underground facility in Natanz, and was working to install another 2,200 in the near future.

Asculai said that Iran was also working on integrating a more advanced centrifuge into the facility, the P2, which it developed based on blueprints received from Pakistani nuclear scientist A.Q. Kahn. The new centrifuge is capable of enriching uranium faster and to higher levels.

The IAEA report was in line with a Military Intelligence assessment presented to the cabinet in September according to which Iran had about a third of

the required HEU for a bomb.

The New York Times quoted Richard L. Garwin, a top nuclear physicist who helped invent the hydrogen bomb, as saying that Iran had produced approximately enough nuclear material to assemble an atomic weapon.

“They clearly have enough material for a bomb,” said Garwin. “They know how to do the enrichment.

Whether they know how to design a bomb, well, that’s another matter.”

Asculai said Garwin’s assessment was alarming but that ultimately Iran was still about a year away from obtaining enough HEU for its first nuclear weapon.

“[The] IAEA set 25. kg of HEU as the quantity needed for a nuclear bomb,” he said. “You don’t extract 25. kg of HEU from 630 kg. of LEU. On the other hand, the distance is not far, and if not stopped before [that point] they will have enough HEU by the end of 2009.”

Russia will not sell Iskander missiles to Syria in near future

Months after offering Russia

to deploy long-range ballistic missiles in his country, Syrian President Bashar Assad was informed this week that Moscow will not sell Iskander missiles to foreign clients due to production delays.

According to a report in the Russian news agency Novosti, the state arms exporter Rosoboronexport has decided that despite interest from a number of countries – including Syria, the United Arab Emirates and India – Moscow will not export the Iskander missile until the Russian Armed Forces are fully equipped with the system.

The Iskander missile – also known as the SS-26 Stone – is a short range, solid fuel propelled, theater quasi-ballistic missile system. According to reports, the Iskander missile has only been subject to test firing and will likely only become operational in four years.

The system was developed to carry conventional warheads for the engagement of small targets, fixed missile silos and anti-aircraft systems as well as command posts and critical civilian infrastructure facilities. The missiles are reportedly difficult to intercept.

In August, Assad visited Moscow where he spoke with President Dmitry Medvedev and reportedly discussed the possibility of allowing Russia to set up Iskander missile launchers in Syria.

Israel was concerned with the reports and feared that the missiles could be used in a future conflict in the region. In October, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert made a lightning trip to Moscow to urge Medvedev not to sell Syria advanced missile systems.

In May, a Syrian military delegation, led by Air Force Commander Gen. Ahmad Al Ratyb, visited Russia for talks about the possible procurement of

the Iskander as well as the advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missile defense system.

Earlier this month, Medvedev threatened to deploy Iskander missiles in the Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad sandwiched between NATO members Lithuania and Poland in order to “neutralize if necessary” a proposed US missile defense system in Europe.

Nikolai Kakarov said that the military was prepared to deploy the missiles per Medvedev’s final order.

Gloomy US observers reckon rock bottom is still to come

NEW YORK – Since this month’s election,

investors have been abandoning stocks in a kind of slow-motion crash that experts say underlines just how anxious they are about what is likely to be a long and deep recession.

Even after a late-day rally on Friday US time, the benchmark Standard & Poor’s 500 index has plunged 20 per cent since the election. That more than wiped out the index’s 18 per cent gain in the six trading days before polling as optimism grew that Barack Obama would be elected President.

Analysts aren’t blaming Obama specifically for the post-election hangover.

Rather, they peg it to growing fears that the Administration of President George W. Bush and the Congress are fumbling the US$700 billion ($1.3 trillion) bailout plan.

There’s also worry about the weakened economy’s impact on financial stocks – highlighted by the plunge in Citygroup shares to below $4 a share.

“You can almost hear people yelling, ‘Get me out at any price’,” said Al Goodman, chief market strategist at Wachovia Securities. “It’s the highest level of fear and depression in my 45 years as a student of the market.”

Market experts define a crash as a decline of 20 per cent over a single day or several days. In the eight days to October 22, the Dow lost 22 per cent.

The S&P 500 dropped more than 25 per cent in the 12 trading days after the election before Friday’s bounceback narrowed the loss to 20 per cent.

All told, stocks have lost US$2.6 trillion since election day, the Dow Jones Wilshire 5000 index shows.

Friday’s news that Obama was likely to choose Timothy Geithner, the president of the New York Federal Reserve, to be the next treasury secretary helped spark a rally that sent the Dow Jones industrial average surging almost 500 points.

Geithner has worked closely with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke this year as the Government seized control of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and insurer American International Group.

But analysts say it would be a mistake to say that bounce marks an end to the carnage that has wiped out 45.8 per cent of the value of the S&P 500 index since the start of

the year.

“I don’t think anyone can say we’ve reached the bottom yet,” said Chuck Gabriel, managing director of Capital Alpha Partners in Washington. “It’s going to be a very gloomy Christmas.”

Kim Caughey, equity research analyst at Fort Pitt Capital Group in Pittsburgh, said that “for investors to get more confidence, we need to know details” of the new Administration’s plans to handle the crisis.

“There’s been a vacuum of leadership,” she said, “and when that happens, you get fear and rumours, and then people sell.”

Yesterday Obama outlined a plan to create 2.5 million jobs with public works programmes that will rebuild roads and bridges, modernise schools and create alternative energy sources.

“These aren’t just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis; these are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long,” he said.

The market’s inability to turn around also has fed criticism of the Government’s handling of the crisis.

Said one strategist: “The perception on Wall St is that Washington is rudderless.”

The so-called Fairness Doctrine, the enforcement of the doctrine that any broadcast medium, voicing one political opinion must voice another, dissenting opinion will be the beginning of

the end of free speech.

Here’s why: Who is to say what is political opinion? The line between political opinion and reportage is so blurred now as to be almost indistinct.

Should such a pernicious doctrine become widespread, energy will be devoted to persuading and inevitably suborning those authorities who seek to rule on any utterance.

Such a doctrine, rather than forcing open discourse, will tend to limit it, for those media organs with a limited budget will shy away from political speech as they may have to present opposing doctrine – offending their listeners and

the advertisers.

Thus they will be limited to non-political speech. Lastly, such a so-called fairness doctrine will clog the courts.

And, what of the off-hand comment, which the individual and his broadcast medium will have to self-censor rather than risk offense or prosecution for lack of fairness

? The less we can say, the less we can see.

The great danger here, as in all government, is a default not to the rule of law, but to the administrative committee, acting – whether “good-willed” or not – in reference only to its own wisdom. This is the beginning of the tyranny of the police state. The government is not made of geniuses, it is not made of the wise.

It is a natural and necessary adjunct of human life but it is made of politicians and bureaucrats.

The wisdom of the multitudes is the treasure of mankind and our greatest treasure, not only the guardian but the inculcator of wisdom, is our language. The great heroes of the English-speaking people have been poets – Lincoln, Churchill, Dr King – whom by the freedom and beauty of their language presented generally unacceptable ideas in a new way, thus changing the world.

Our language is our heritage and our plaything, ever evolving and shaping our world. Through language the unknown becomes the unthinkable, which becomes merely the impossible and then the commonplace, and the nature of the world, which, finally, exists to us only to the extent which we can perceive it, changes. But speech must be free.
