On Tuesday, Oct. 14, President George W. Bush and treasury secretary Henry Paulson explained that the Federal Reserve’s $250 bn buyout of stakes in US banks was a short term measure to alleviate the credit crisis.

Paulson admitted that taking stakes in banks was necessary though objectionable to most Americans. Washington sources told DEBKAfile that whereas government intervention in the market is anathema to most Americans, buying shares is more acceptable. The $700bn package approved by Congress two weeks ago to buy toxic debts was too slow to allay the threat of global financial meltdown looming in the last week.

Faster measures were therefore put in place to oil the wheels of liquidity and revitalize lend

ing.

Nine US banks would therefore “sell preferred shares” to the government as a measure for conquering lack of confidence in the financial system and increasing the financing of consumption and investment to meet such basic needs as covering payrolls, stimulating business and helpig homeowners save their homes from foreclosure.

The nine banks are JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, the Bank of America, the Bank of New York Mellon Corp., Merill Lynch-Citigroup, Wells Fargo and State Street Corp. Monday, Japan’s Nikkei closed up 14% Monday, its biggest single-day gain, after Wall Street’s 11% rally and ahead of the US announcement of US plans to buy ownership stakes in major banks. Sidney was up 5% (after an A$10.4 bn stimulus package), Hong Kong 4%, New Zealand, nearly 7% and South Korea up to 5%. London, Paris, Frankfurt rise for second day after Asia.

European markets were revived Monday by multibillion pledges to support banks. Assuming even that the rallies are not a flash in the pan but show the tottering financial system starting to right itself, nevertheless economic experts are asking: What next? Some symptoms of the next economic crisis are already visible:

1. A slowdown is making itself felt in the United States, UK and parts of Europe, with early signs of r

ising unemployment and reduced consumer spending power.

2. The partial nationalization of major banks will force governments into managing them – for which official bureaucracies are eminently unsuited. Qualified personnel will be hard to find now that new legislature has slashed the outrageous perks and bonuses prevalent in the ailing financial industry.

3. There is no guarantee that the multibillion rescue plans will bring investors back to the markets long term after their initial interest.

4. After pouring the staggering sum of $4 trillion into their salvage plan, governments may find it is not enough. Where will additional resources come from? Fom extra taxes? The ordinary taxpayer may well exact a heavy political price from governments who take that course.

When Will Israel Attack Hizbullah?

While I am certain that the king of the south (Israel) will eventually attack Hizbullah, I doubt if it will occur this year. I suspect this is to keep Hizbullah involved in defensive preparation to the extent it limits their ability to interfere in the Lebanese election process.

Daniel 11:40 – And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries,

and shall overflow and pass over.

Alexander the Great, the “notable horn” in Daniel 8:5, which was “broken” and replaced by four other horns in Daniel 8:8 that represented the four generals who would divide his kingdom among themselves after his death, was still very much alive when he captured Israel in 332 B.C., only to fall dead nine years later in 323 B.C.

In the division of his kingdom into four parts, Egypt and Israel were given to Ptolemy I, and his descendants ruled over Israel until 212 B.C., when Antiochus III conquered Israel from the north, and the Seleucids ruled over Israel until 167 B.C. The many Seleucid kings that ruled over Syria were individually identified as the “king of the north” by Daniel, and he called the individual Ptolemaic kings that ruled over Israel and Egypt the “king of the south.”

Daniel prophesied Alexander’s death some 268 years before it occurred.

In Daniel’s prophecies from Daniel 11:5 to 11:45 he refers to two types of kings, kings of the north, who would rule as Syrian kings to the north of Israel, and to kings of the south that ruled over the territory that made up the Ptolemaic kingdom to the south of Syria. So the king of the south in Daniel 11:40 is the ruler in Israel “at the time of the end,” while the willful king of the north is the ruler in Syria. I firmly believe that it will be the terrorist army known as Hizbollah, under the directions of Syria and Iran, that will deliberately perform an act designed to get Israel to push north into Syria and Lebanon as an act of retribution, which will give international justification for 10 Arab nations, led by the Syrian ruler, to rumble south into Israel in a lightening surprise Jihad.

I have watched the rise of the Hizbollah terrorist arm for some 25 years, and observed a weaving of its tentacles across many nations in an ever increasing involvement in the amazing recent growth of worldwide terrorism. I think it worthy of giving a brief history of the movement, and an outline of its current activities, because I believe it will be the catalyst used by Islam to lure Israel into the “end time” push into the territories of Syria and Lebanon.

The following paragraph excerpt was taken from an article in Arutz Sheva.

It deals with a series of Fall Festivals Israel is celebrating.

“[Building the Sukkah – a temporary dwelling in which to eat, sleep and essentially live for most of the holiday – and collecting and placing the s’chach (branches or the like with which to cover it);]”

The Greek word for “Sukkot” is “Eskenosen,” and it is translated as “dwelt” in John 1:14. Jesus “tabernacled” among God’s chosen prople as the Son of God, God dwelling with them in a tabernacle of flesh.

John 1:11-14 – He came unto his own, and

his own received him not. [12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Israel will soon spend at least three Sukkot Festivals in the vast Negev Wilderness. At the end of their stay there they will receive Jesus Christ as their Messiah and God at his Second Advent and he will deliver them from their affliction and Sukkot with them for a thousand years on the present earth and forever on the new earth following it.

Zechariah 13:8,9 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. [9] And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

Matthew 23:37-39 – O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Week-Long Sukkot Holiday Begins Monday Night

(IsraelNN.com) The seven-plus-one Sukkot holiday, which begins Monday night, features temporary dwellings, Four Species, and much rejoicing.

As per Biblical law, it lasts for seven days, and is followed immediately by a one-day holiday known as Shmini Atzeret-Simchat Torah. The first and eighth days are full-fledged holy days, while on the Six Intermediate Days most work activities are permitted.

Outside Israel, however, due to uncertainty regarding the precise dates during Talmudic times, the holiday lasts for nine days: Two full-fledged holidays from Monday night until Wednesday night, four Intermediate Days, and then two more holiday of Shmini Atzeret and Simchat Torah.

The four days between Yom Kippur and Sukkot are replete with diligent and enthusiastic preparations for the various commandments and customs of the Sukkot holiday:

Building the Sukkah – a temporary dwelling in which to eat, sleep and essentially live for most of the holiday – and collecting and placing the s’chach (branches or the like with which to cover it);

Decorating it;

Finding, examining and purchasing the Four Species – lulav (palm branch), etrog (citron), hadassim (three myrtle branches) and aravot (two willow branches);

Celebrating and commemorating the traditional Simchat Beit HaShoevah (Water Drawing Festival) ceremony of the Holy Temple;

Studying the many facets of the Sukkot holiday, such as the Seventy Sacrifices for the Nations, visiting Jerusalem, and – this year – re-enactments of the dramatic Hak’hel (Gather the Entire Nation) ceremony;

Completing the year-long cycle of the public weekly Torah readings on Simchat Torah;

General rejoicing.

Daniel 11:42 – He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

Antichrist will conquer the Suez Canal on his way to get control of Cairo plus along and 20 miles either side of the Nile River. Once he has control of this area and the narrow coastal section of Egypt he has conquered what maps show as being Egypt, but he must have both his borders with Libya and Sudan absolutely secure, so he will appoint leaders there which are subdued to him as ancients were “at his steps” in submission to a king.

Daniel 11:43 – But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

Libya of today is west of Egypt, as it was when Daniel wrote his prophecies. The Sudan of today, on Egypt’s southern border, was a part of Ethiopia in Daniel’s day.

Antichrist establishes his Caliphate, making Cairo his capital, and reigns there until his return to Jerusalem some three and one half years later. The ten toes of Daniel’s statue, who made up his attack force, either directly or indirectly, will be the first ten nations in his Caliphate, but all the other Arab nations will quickly join his Caliphate soon after Jerusalem falls and Egypt is conquered.

Saudi and Sudanese Writers Warn Of ‘Shi’ite Octopus’ Taking Over Sudan

The religious rift between Sunnis and Shi’ites in the Middle East, and the tension between the Arab countries, particularly the Gulf states and Egypt on the one hand, and Iran on the other hand are also manifested in Sudan-Iran relations. While the Sudanese regime maintains close ties with Iran, some Sudanese, especially those residing outside the country, have voiced concerns that Sudan may join the countries under Iranian influence. Over the past few years, there have been several uproars in the Arab press over perceived attempts by Iran to spread the Shi’a in Sudan, whose Muslim population is predominantly Sunni.(1)

Following are excerpts from two articles warning about the Shi’ ization of Sudan.

Article on Sudanese Website: “Since When Are There Shi’ites In Sudan?”

In an article posted on the website Sudanese Online (www.sudaneseonline.com), which is the main site of the Sudani diaspora abroad ‘Ali ‘Abdallah Hassan, a Sudanese journalist living in the U.S., criticized Iran’s attempts to spread the Shi’a in Sudan:

“My heart bursts with sorrow and pain when I read in the papers expressions like ‘Shi’a in Sudan,’ ‘the spread of Shi’a in Sudan,’ or ‘a Shi’ite book by a Shi’ite Sudanese publisher.’ I must ask: Since when are there Shi’ites in Sudan, which has been known as a purely Sunni country for hundreds of years?

“[Moreover], none of the countries bordering Sudan are Shi’ite. So how did the Shi’ite creed cross rivers and seas, to infiltrate a Sunni country in the heart of Africa?

“We must face the bitter truth and acknowledge it: We Sudanese have neglected our faith and the tenets of our religion. [We] have allowed the largest Shi’ite country in the world, [namely Iran,] to exploit our [good diplomatic] relations with it and our kind and tolerant nature in order to carry out its evil plans, which are to export its ideological revolution and spread its Shi’ite faith among the Sunni Sudanese Muslims, right under the nose of our government, sheikhs and [religious] scholars.”

“[Iran] Has Turned Its Embassy in Khartoum Into a Center for Spreading… the Shi’a”

“[Iran] has turned its embassy in Khartoum into a center for spreading… the Shi’a, aimed at prompting the Sudanese to forsake Sunni [Islam] and embrace Imami Shi’ism [instead].(2) To ensure the success of this plan, various Iranian-funded facilities have been established around the capital, including culture centers, libraries, institutions, and schools. These establishments are actually missionary centers for spreading the Shi’a…

“Many Sudanese have [indeed] embraced the Shi’a as a result of this malicious Shi’ite assault to which our Sunni Sudanese society has been exposed. In [just] a few years, more than 15,000 [Sudanese] have converted to the Imami Shi’a. Moreover, in the Sufi regions of Kordofan [province], entire villages have gone over to the Shi’a, and the Shi’ite mission has [even] reached Darfur.

“Husseiniyyas,(3) [Shi’ite] pilgrimage sites, and [Shi’ite] mosques have sprung up in the capital and in various provinces, and the sheikhs of several Sufi orders have [recently] been seen wearing black Shi’ite turbans.

“[Moreover], some of the recent converts to the Shi’a have begun to spread Shi’ ite philosophy in the capital and around the country, among students and in the large universities.

Some have also begun to publish vile Shi’ite books, while other [such books] have appeared in the media and on the Internet.

[Converts] have [even] found their way into the largest Sudanese website, Sudanese Online, in order to spread the Ja’fari Shi’a,(4) and malign the Sunni creed.”

“A Shi’ite Entity Within Sudan Constitutes a Threat to [Sudan’s] National Security”

“The spread of the Shi’a in Sudan will bring [this country] nothing but crises, catastrophes, and civil war. The spread of [Shi’ite] principles within the conservative Sunni Sudanese society – [principles] such as slander against the Prophet’s companions, who are presented as infidels; [slander] against the mothers of the believers;(5) the sanctioning of pleasure marriages;(6) and talk about the fabrication of the Koran(7) – heralds [nothing but] internal strife and social unrest.

“It would be no exaggeration to say that the presence of a Shi’ite entity within Sudan constitutes a threat to its national security. In any Sunni state, Shi’ites represent a fifth column supporting a foreign Shi’ite force, since their loyalty lies with Iran and not with their own country. True to their faith, the Shi’ites do not recognize the legitimacy of any Islamic government except for the government of the Imams or of the great ayatollahs who have replaced them. For them, the [supreme] religious authority is not the Sudanese mufti but the ayatollahs of Qom, Najaf, and Tehran. The best example of this is [provided by] the Shi’ites of Lebanon and Iraq.”

We Should Beware of This Shi’ite Octopus in Sudan… O therwise,

the Day Will Come When We See the Tanks of the Sudanese Hizbullah Racing Through the Streets of Khartoum”

“Look at the arsenals of weapons and missiles [available to] Hizbullah in Lebanon and to the Shi’ites in Iraq. We would be justified in asking where all these weapons come from. Where do Hizbullah and the Shi’ites in Iraq get their enormous funds?

“Who is fanning the flames of sectarian civil war in Iraq by [providing] arms and funds

? Who is behind the explosions that cut short the lives of innocent Iraqis day after day? Who foils every attempt at attaining stability in Iraq and resuming development there, so that its people can enjoy peace and security? Who is the one who extends his hand from across seas and rivers in order to move the [chess]men on the Syrian, Iraqi and Lebanese chessboards?

“We should beware of this Shi’ite octopus in Sudan, before it is too late – otherwise, the day will come when we see the tanks of the Sudanese Hizbullah racing through the streets of Khartoum. We will also have a Sudanese Hassan Nasrallah, who will appear on a Sudanese Al-Manar channel to warn the Sudanese government about the grave consequences of assailing the rights and achievements of the Shi’ite community…”(8)

Saudi Daily: “It Is Imperative That We Fortify the Sudanese Front, In Order To Protect [Sudan] From The Iranian Embrace ”

Iran’s increasing infiltration of Sudan has aroused concern in other Arab countries as well, since they too feel threatened by Iran. In an article published in the Saudi Daily Al-Riyadh in the wake of the attack on Omdurman by the rebel forces,(9) Saudi columnist ‘Abdallah Al-Qafari emphasized Sudan’s strategic importance to the Arabs, and the danger of an increase in Iranian influence in Sudan. He wrote:

“…In terms of its geopolitical location, [Sudan] borders the eastern Arab [region] on the south and on the west, and forms a continuous stretch with the Arab Horn of Africa, which is embroiled in a prolonged and difficult war. The Nile flows through its territory, and it affords an important vantage point commanding the Red Sea.

We are currently bearing the brunt of alliances formed by Arab countries or elements with rising powers in the region, such as Iran, that have aspirations and objectives of their own.

“[Iran] is trying to build up its reputation by [launching] a nuclear program, and is capitalizing on its ties with those Arab elements, in order to protect this program, gain influence,

and ensure the future of its regime.

“It is imperative that we fortify the Sudanese front, in order to protect [Sudan] from the Iranian embrace, and from any other element that might try to exploit the Sudanese regime’s need for support in order to instigate new a regional crisis that would threaten the Arab countries’ stability and security.”

Will the countries in the center [of the Arab region] survive if the periphery is hurt?…

“The Horn of Africa serves as a strategic safety buffer for the Arab countries adjacent to it, and today it is possibly [even] more important than the countries on the periphery. Sudan, with its resources of water, land, and oil, and with its prom ising future and strategic location,

is a veritable shield for the Arab world.

When Lebanon came into existence, a power sharing agreement was worked out between the Christians, Shiites, and Sunnis. The Maronite Catholics were the majority religious group, so it was agreed than only a Maronite Catholic could hold the position of President of Lebanon.

The head of the Maronite Church is the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch, who is elected by the bishops of the Maronite church and now resides in Bkirki, north of Beirut (the Maronite Patriarch resides in the northern town of Dimane during the summer months). The current Patriarch (since 1986) is Mar Nasrallah Cardinal Boutros Sfeir. When a new patriarch is elected and enthroned, he requests ecclesiastic communion from the Pope, thus maintaining their communion with the Catholic Church. As an Eastern patriarch, if he chooses to join the College of Cardinals; the patriarch is enrolled in the order of Cardinal Bishops, and does not receive a suburbicarian see, since he is a head of a sui iuris Church.

Maronites share the same doctrine as other Catholics, but they retain their own liturgy, theology, spirituality, discipline and hierarchy. Strictly speaking, the Maronite church belongs to the Antiochene Tradition and is a West Syro-Antiochene Rite. Syriac is the liturgical language, instead of Latin which is a tradition of the Roman Church. Nevertheless, they are considered, along with the Syro-Malabar Church, to be among the most latinised of the Eastern Catholic Churches.

Before Lebanon’s current President came into office, General Michel Anoun was Hezbollah’s top choice.

He is a Maronite Catholic and has a long history in Lebanese politics. He was the armed forces commander of Lebanese forces during their civil war until late 1990, when he was thrown into exile, and fled to France. He returned to Lebanon on May 7th 2005, where upon his return, he made it obvious he intended to make himself a lead figure in Lebanese politics. He is not a favorite of the west, as he has an alliance with Hezbollah.

I fear that the Maronite Catholics of Michel Anoun will ride

the Islamic beast into Israel for the conquest, but the beast really hates the Catholic religion, and will turn on her, burning all her churches in Europe and in the Middle East. Lebanese Christian strongman’s Tehran visit underscores Iran’s grip on Lebanon

It would have been unthinkable for any Middle East Christian leader to pays his respects to the ayatollahs in Tehran before the indecisive Israel-Hizballah war of 2006 and the subsequent collapse of US and Israeli positions. But now, the once pro-West Lebanese Christian strongman, Gen.

Michel Aoun, who has become a close ally of the Iranian surrogate Hizballah and Syria, is leading the way.

He drew encouragement from two developments:

1. The Bush administration’s quiet collusion with Iran over the deal which broke a long political deadlock in Beirut and brought Michel Sleiman to the presidency. That deal was part of a broader package of Washington-Tehran understandings that covered cooperation for taming the violence in Iraq and America’s renunciation of its military option against Iran’s nuclear installations.

Aoun decided that to build up his position in Beirut, he too would do well to avail himself of Iran’s support.

2. The political and military inertia paralyzing the Israeli government in the face of the collapse of UN Resolution 1701.

That measure, negotiated by the would-be prime minister Tzipi Livni to end the 2006 war, was called a flop even by Israel defense minister Ehud Barak. Iran and Syria have openly flouted the measure month after month by topping up Hizballah’s arsenal with improved weaponry, including rockets capable of reaching almost all of Israeli territory and a highly-advanced anti-air defense system. Israel has not lifted a finger to interfere with these violations.

This led the ambitious Lebanese general to conclude that Iran was on the winning side of current Middle East disputes and therefore the right sponsor for his bid to replace his fellow-Christian, middle-of-the-road Gen. Michel Suleiman, as president.

Aoun flew to Tehran shortly after the visit to Beirut on Oct.

6 of two senior US officials, Assistant Deputy Secretary of State David Hale and Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense Mary Beth Long. They came in response to an appeal from the Siniora government and president for help against the threatening Syrian troop and tank buildup on Lebanese borders.

Washington issued Damascus with a sharp warning not to invade Lebanon. Damascus responded by pouring more troops into additional border sectors.

I believe the treatment, recommended by the enthusiastic advocates of the Koran’s teachings in this article from MEMRI, does indeed resonate the same practices Revelation’s ten horns are to manifest during the latter portion of the tribulation period.

“Burn Down the Offices Of The Newspapers That Affronted Our Prophet… Bomb Them so Body Parts Go Flying, and With These Body Parts, Allah Will Quench the Believers’ Thirst for Revenge”

Abu ‘Abir: “We will not allow them to deride our Prophet, and we will wait for no one to take the appropriate measures in response to this crime against Islam, the Muslims, and our Prophet. We will redeem our Prophet with our lives. Oh servants of the cross, we have let everything you did to our nation pass. But for your abominable deed against our Prophet, oh hostile and infidel Denmark, you will pay a heavy price, Allah willing. Oh Messenger of Allah, accept our apology. Denmark has spoken heresy.

“We in the Al-Nasser Salah Al-Din Brigades declare, in light of the recurrence of this grave incident, which was permitted by the Jewish, Crusader, infidel Danish authorities:

“First of all, we call upon the Islamic nation to rise up, and not make do with a futile economic boycott, in the face of this affront to our honorable Prophet. We call upon them to drive out the Danish embassies and ambassadors from the lands of the Muslims, and to expel them from the Muslim countries. They should take serious and immediate action to burn down the offices of the newspapers that affronted our Prophet, and to bomb them, so that body parts go flying, and with these body parts, Allah will quench the believers’ thirst for revenge.”

“Oh Nation of Islam, Oh Nation of Muhammad, Your Prophet Has Been Derided”

“Second, we call upon the Arab rulers, who are supposedly Muslim, and whose birth certificates indicate that they are Muslim, to advance their armies, and to take [appropriate] official stances, in defense of our Prophet Muhammad. Oh nation of Islam, oh nation of Muhammad, your Prophet has been derided. They must immediately declare that they will sever relations [with Denmark], recall their ambassadors, and cut off all their economic ties.

“We say to the leaders of the Arabs and the Muslims: Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves? By God, if anyone in some remote corner of the world affronted you, you would mobilize your armies in order to wipe him off the face of the Earth. This should be all the more true, oh Arabs, when it comes to those who affront your honorable Prophet.” […]

“Oh Nation of Islam, We [Found] that This Offense [of Publishing the Cartoons] Constitutes a Systematic Policy”

“Third, we once thought that the publication of the offensive cartoons in the past reflected the personal opinion of one crippled Dane.

But, oh nation of Islam, we were surprised to find out that this offense constitutes a systematic policy. Therefore, from here, from the frontier land, we demand that all the infidel Crusader Danes on this pure frontier land leave the countries of the Muslims. We have not heard any of you condemn these crimes against our Islamic belief. What good are your voices [of condemnation] anyway, when your stupid prime minister has the audacity to support and defend these cartoons? Therefore, we call upon you once again to leave our Islamic countries immediately, and especially the frontier land of Palestine.”
