The majority bloc headed by the incumbent Fouad Siniora holds 16 portfolios in the new Lebanese government, the opposition led by Hizballah – 11.

President Michel Sleiman exercised his prerogative to name three ministers.

This lineup represents the national accord reached in Qatar earlier this year to end Lebanon’ s political cri

sis. But the numbers, DEBKAfile’s Middle East sources note, add up to the radicalization of the new administration.

The pro-Iranian Hizballah-led opposition has gained veto power and Damascus has solidified its grip on Lebanon’s center of power – both through the Shiite-led bloc and through a first-time cabinet member, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party – the SSNP, which is dedicated to a Greater Syria.

Tehran and Damascus have succeeded in thrusting aside American and French bids for influence.

According to DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources, the shadowy SSNP was Syrian intelligence’s favorite terrorist arm in Lebanon for assassinations, attempted coups and bombings. Its operatives often worked with Hizballah (especially its military chief Imad Mughniyeh) and were believed implicated in the US embassy bombings in Beirut of 1982

and 1984.

The first known female suicide bomber in terrorist history was a SSNP operative who detonated a truck bomb which killed two Israel soldiers in 1985. Another member was accused of assassinating Lebanese president Beshar Gemayel in 1982.

The SSNP leader at the time, appointed by Damascus, was Ali Qanso, who now takes a seat in the new Lebanese government as minister of state.

The same Lebanese party also holds one seat in the Syrian parliament, having been granted legal standing by President Bashar Assad in 2005.

The SSNP is now Syria’s largest party after the ruling Baath, while also represented in the Beirut government. It is thus faithful to its Greater Syria tenet which names Lebanon “Western Syria.”

I learned conversational Hebrew so I could start friendly conversations with the Israeli troops during my trips to the Middle East from 1952 to 1999.

I noticed a slip in the characteristics that made them such a great military force immediately following the 1967 war, and it accelerated after the 1973 war.

The military decline in the efficiency of the IDF is a subject I dealt with on many occasions during my hundreds of lectures across Europe, the U.S., and Africa from 1979 to 2005.

Immediately after the second war with Hizbullah,

the Israelis recalled a General noted for his toughness and bulldog tenacity in maintaining a high moral and efficiency in the IDF, and he is still in the process of the rebuilding of the IDF.

He is IDF Chief of the General Staff, Lt. General Gabi Ashkenazi. He delivered the May 1, 1948 speech for the Jewish Nation at Auschwitz-Birkenau titled: “March of the Living,” which was a salute to the ashes of those who were cremated at Auschwitz, as well as all the victims of the Holocaust, and Jewish martyrs down through the centuries of the Dispersion.

As a soldier, I have the greatest admiration for him, and hope he is still the IDF Commander when Israel charges north from Beersheba to take back all the land from Dan to Hamath in Syria and east to claim all the land to the Euphrates River.

When Yariv Mozer got an unexpected call-up to replace a shell-shocked officer who had left the battlefield in the Second Lebanon War, he instinctively reached for his camera.

For years, it had served as his personal video camera, and the unprofessional, mini DV had poor sound quality, one battery and five cassettes.

“The idea of going to war was frightening for me, and bringing the camera was a way for me to overcome my fear. The camera provided a way to mediate between myself and the events that were happening around me,” s ays the 30-ye

ar-old owner of a production company whose previous work includes Hothouse and a PBS series on the Six Day War. “I didn’t set out with the intention to film a documentary.”

When he arrived in the North, Mozer was horrified by the irony of the situation.

The lines of battle had been drawn among pastoral orchards swelling with fruit where, in times

of peace, vacationers come to hike and picnic in the verdant hillsides. Filled with tanks, artillery and soldiers, the land was overcome with the sounds of battle: Deafening sirens sounded as rockets crashed into the earth and radios crackled with orders.

“My commanding officer told me to go ahead and film as one day it would be a part of history,” says Mozer, who agreed not to release any footage without permission from the IDF censor. It was a struggle to get the documentary through, as soldiers in the film are often critical of the IDF command structure, but Mozer says that in the end, he was forced to make very few compromises and allowed to keep most of the footage.

Generally, a feeling of disorganization and bedlam worsens as the war progresses.

Rockets fall, tanks are destroyed with sophisticated anti-tank missiles, more and more soldiers are killed and the atmosphere is one of defeat and senselessness.

Orders are given and then retracted. “Somebody sent soldiers to die,” says the bleary-eyed Capt. Reuven Sa’adon to Mozer as he drives back from Lebanon in an armored Humvee. “That is the clearest thing I can say.”

When I made my first extended trip to the Middle East

in 1952, more than 56 years ago, it was quite evident the foreign powers, which had controlled Middle East oil since the industrial revolution began, were in the process of believing they could still control the Islamic nations after they pulled out. They greatly underestimated the power that oil would give the Middle East countries. It is the underlying cause for a process we are now observing that is bringing the Islamic Kingdom back to life as the eighth and final Kingdom of the Gentile age. In the first book I had published in the mid-seventies, “Tectonic Chaos,” after identifying the ten horns of Revelation 13:1 as Arabic nations, I wrote the following paragraph.

Well, after more than 56 years it has come to pass and, in addition to the intense hatred that has raised to an all time against the Jews by the incitement of radical Islamic extremists, we have man’s natural greed incited and excited at the prospect of monetary gain associated with the control of the world’s major oil source in the Middle East.

Mammon, ethnic hatred, and false religion are the three major driving forces that have been associated with wars since the fall of man.

The love of money underlies it all to this day, and it remain like this until the one returns who is the only man who ever lived that thought more of the welfare of all others, past, present, and future, than he did of himself.

I am not a former military commander, but just like any other person who ever learned how to read I know that the entire story about Iran and a possible strike is foolish. Iran is not like Shaul Mofaz. It acts wisely when it comes to its future. It’s not really interested in Israel, although it likes to annoy us.

Tehran knows that an Israeli strike on Iran is impractical if Israel wishes to continue existing, and that a nuclear attack on Israel would prompt Iran’s destruction. Tehran also knows that the Israelis are the only ones who will strike if there is no choice and it knows how to make us bleed without nuclear weapons.

Iran has surrounded us with zealous, stubborn terrorism and it knows that no nuclear weapons will help us in our fight against terror. Tehran wishes to annoy and threaten us beca

use the countries it really wants to take over love its hate for Israel.

What Iran really wants is the Persian Gulf, which the Arabs refer to as the Arab Gulf. Iran emerged out of a great empire. Today, it wants to regain its place as the successor of this empire and of the Muslim empire. It united the two and ultimately it wants to take over Gulf states and Syria, and use Lebanon as a large seaport for oil.

As opposed to us, Iran realizes that if it controls oil, America in its current state will not attack it, but rather, opt to cut a deal with it, because the entire American fabric of life is based on oil. Because of oil there are towns and suburbs; because of oil, there is an America.

After all, America isn’t New York – America is Maryland and California and Kansas. And there, life is not worth living without oil.

The Iranians are an ancient people with a long history. They do not wish to become extinct. What they do want is the billion dollars a day earned by Saudi Arabia. The Iranians want ancient Islam and they are going for the jackpot with the common sense that is lacking among our Mofazes, our politicians, and our arrogant military officers.

Iran winning this chess game

Once upon a time we used to be smart. We would have not been able to establish a state under the conditions we did had every general at the time been making empty threats. Talkative generals and small-time politicians are playing into Iran’s hands these days; meanwhile, the Iranians are cheering on every belligerent Israeli statement, which serves to boost the price of oil, while they continue to hit us on our home front. Their Nasrallah has been well equipped and he knows how to fool us. He understands our weaknesses.

Yet we fail to understand Nasrallah. Hamas is also playing with us.

Iran is the mother and father of both these organizations.

It does not need to put its cities at risk in order to irritate us. For Iran we are merely a pawn in the chess game they invented.

In this chess game they are making fools out of us and defeating the Arabs, who are nonetheless cheering on them, until they will no longer be able to do so. And then, just like in past days, Persia will rule the East, and the small Israel will contend with cruel terrorism and won’t know what to do aside from making stupid declarations.

There are certainly proper ways to hinder this process or prevent part of it from materializing. Arrogant words will not be solving the problem. Iran’s manager, its stupid president who constantly threatens us, is merely the front for its true rulers, the wise ones. Most of them do not live in Tehran, but rather, in Qom, the capital

of Iranian Islam.

Bashar Assad is a man who can speak softly with the charm of a grade school boy picking up his first date for the 6th grade graduation celebration, while issuing an order in that kind gentle voice to assassinate leading Lebanese political figures opposing Syria and Hizbullah. His diversified deceiving outward characteristics would make him an excellent antichrist. I hope you did not expect the great antichrist to be a really mean Godzilla in the early stages of his reign. His mean side won’t come out until he has absolute control.

And I know you realize the followers of Satan can put on a “smiley” outside, but all of them have a “frowney” inside.

No, I don’t think Assad is the antichrist. In fact, I suspect he will soon be replaced, and his replacement will be a good candidate for antichrist.

At this stage my opinion is that the antichrist will come out of Syria or one of the countries on its western or northern border, but I am not about to try to specifically identify him until it is much more obvious by his fulfilling more Scriptures than he has so far.

After all these years of waiting, I now believe we are finally moving into the period of time when the Islamic Jihad nations and terrorist groups are deliberately putting themselves into a temporary peace mode to lull Israel into the time I Thessalonians 5:3,4 will be fulfilled, with the time of sudden destruction likely beginning at some point in time between 2010 and 2015.

I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

The Excerpt from IMRA, which follows our September 28, 2007 Archive Blog, definitely indicates that the Syrians and Hizbullah have laid out a detailed military plan to instantly put in force when Israel, charges into southern Lebanon as the King of the South, in reaction to a deliberate Hizbullah provocation. It will be a well laid trap to justify Syria and Iran’s response before the UN when the last war of this age begins.

But I still do not believe the planned provocation will be carried out prior to 2010.

In 2007 there were a fairly large number of prophetic buffs and media analysts saying an attack against Hizbullah and Syria was eminent.

I was not one of them.

Quite frankly, I wrote it was very unlikely that such an attack would occur prior to 2010. I have been guesstimating for some time such an attack was most likely to occur at some point in time between 2010 and 2015. So far, I have seen nothing to change my mind, and I still feel the same about it as I expressed in September of 2007 in a Blog we issued on the 28th, which follows.

The prediction of Ahmad Jibril concerning an immediate Israeli attack against Syria in the Jerusalem Post is interesting, but very unlikely to occur as soon as he implies.

I would love to see Ahmad Jibril’s prediction of Israel attacking Syria “very soon,” come true because if that were to be the case, Israel would definitely win the ensuing war. However, that is not what I expect to happen, and I do not expect the prophecy of Daniel 11:40-42 to be fulfilled prior to 2010 and, when it finally is fulfilled, the initial push of the king of the south (Israel) will be met by a planned counterattack from the king of the north (Syria), which will drive Israel into the Negev Wilderness, where she will remain for some three and one-half years.

Daniel 11:40-42 – And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. [41] He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. [42] He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

The important thing about this prophecy has never been WHEN it would be fulfilled, but knowing it WOULD one day be fulfilled, living one day at a time as a believer with a heart committed to serving him. I started guesstimating the time of the attack that would start the last three and one-half years of this present age of the Gentiles many years ago, but only because so many people asked me about it. It has always been a guess, no more and no less! I have tried since 1971 to fight day by day against the evil in my flesh and the world by his power in seeking first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness. If I am still doing that on the day any prophecy is fulfilled, the ‘morrow’ of the prophecy will have taken thought for the things of itself.

Matthew 6:33,34 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Jibril: Israel will attack Syria soon

Israel has already made a decision to attack Syria and was just mulling over where to land its first strike, Ahmad Jibril, leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed in an interview published Friday by Arabic newspaper Al Hadat.

Jibril estimated that Israeli action, several weeks after an alleged IAF foray into Syria on September 6, would likely be a wide-scale operation, and would probably be answered with attacks by Iran, Hizbullah in Lebanon and the Palestinians of Syria.

“I believe Israel has prepared all likely scenarios for war with Syria, but they are still considering where they will land the first strike, which will come very soon,” Jibril said. “They are weighing whether to attack on one front or on multiple fronts.

“There is an American Israeli plan, backed by silent agreement from the Arab world, to change the balance of power in the Middle East,” he added.

The PFLP leader said also that Israel was wary of a “domino effect” that would drag other countries into the conflict. “The Israelis have not formed a final estimate regarding the possibility of Iranian intervention if they will attack Syria. Secondly, the Lebanese resistance, led by Hizbullah’s Islamic resistance, will intervene and strike the Zionist home front with missiles,” he said.

“The Syrian brothers will not be afraid to protect their land and will continue the war with the Zionist enemy, and we, the Palestinians in Syria, will not sit by idly – we will be on the front lines,” Jibril added.

However, despite Jibril’s claim that “Hizbullah would also participate,” officials in the organization hinted that they would not interfere in a future conflict. Two weeks ago, Sheikh Na’im Kassem, Deputy Secretary General of Hizbullah and Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah’s second in command, said that Israeli estimates that the group would try to take revenge on Syria’s behalf were no more that “journalistic assessments based on insufficient evidence.”

EXCERPTS:…The report, published in Jane’s Defense Weekly earlier this month, said that images obtained through DigitalGlobe show Syrian troops being deployed in the remote and rugged hills north of the Lebanese town of Rashaya al-Wadi. The report added that these maneuvers took place just before Israel was due to hold a five-day nationwide response drill in early April.

According to the report, entitled “Middle ground: Lebanon plays buffer as Syria and Israel simmer,” the Syrian bases are “aimed solely at creating a defensive line in the event of an Israeli military advance and are not conduits for weaponry” smuggled from Syria to Hizbullah.

Syria’s reinforcement of troops ahead of the Israeli drill suggests a deep mistrust between the two states, despite recent peace overtures, according to Jane’s.

. . .The “little-known presence of Syrian troops in Lebanon demonstrates that, despite the peace talks between the two sides confirmed insimultaneous announcements in Syria and Israel on 21 May 2008, mutual mistrust continues to characterize regional relationships.

“As a result … negotiations are likely to be fraught while military preparedness will remain high,” it said.

During the time that Alexander’s great empire had been divided into four sections, the Syrian section (Seleucid) held Israel some of the time, and the Egyptian section (Ptolemy) held it when they took it from the Syrians. Israel was, at times, a part of the Egyptian section, at times, a part of the Syrian section, and, at times, a part of both. Daniel lists a very long series of battles between the king of the north (Syria) and the king of the South (Egypt). Most of Daniel’s prophecies about these two kingdoms were fulfilled by their many kings from Daniel 11:4 through 35, but there remains one war yet to be fulfilled, and I believe it is the aforementioned Jihad that begins in Daniel 11:40. Since Israel was once part of the section occupied by Ptolemy, I am persuaded that Israel is the king of the south and Syria is the king of the north in Daniel 11:40-45.

Israel has lulled itself into a false sense of peace and safety by its great military might.

Even after the last Hizbullah war, Israel still has great confidence in its ability to take care of any Islamic intrusion.

It may well be that Syria will get Hizbollah to kick up a storm of activity along the northern border by launching a massive missile and rocket attack across the border into the populations of northern Israel. Syria will do this knowing that Israel will cross the border into Lebanon and hit Syrian targets from the air. But this time Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran will be waiting for it, and six other Islamic nations will be poised to supply logistical support. The Islamic nations can cry out while they head south: “We were attacked first – we are justified in this response to the Israeli invasion of our sovereign territory.” This will cause a hesitation by the western world at first and, by the time it wakes up, Jerusalem will have fallen, and Israel will be fleeing into the Negev.

The ancient boil of conflict between the descendants of Jacob, Ishmael, and the six sons of Keturah, with all its internal blend of impurities, is finally coming to a head in the Middle East. The current drastic rise in the conflict between Hamas and Fatah will, in the end, be the catalyst that brings a temporary false peace between them and Israel. What is apparently a genuine truce will be shattered suddenly by a rapid blitzkrieg attack from the north by Syria. In league with Syria will be Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq, and Iran.

Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran will move rapidly southward through the “glorious land” of Israel like a fast moving thunderstorm, bypassing the land where the people of Moab, Ammon, and Edom were settled when Daniel wrote his prophecies in about 600 B.C. The descendants of Edom (Jacob’s brother), and Ammon and Moab (the sons of Lot), as found on every published map for this time period, were settled immediately to the southeast, east, and northeast of the Dead Sea, precisely in the country we know as Jorda

n today. Hence, we can know that the antichrist will bypass Jordan as he moves south through Israel. Why would he bypass Jordan? She has no strategic, political, or economic advantage to offer him, but the Suez Canal and Egypt do, so he will head southwest toward that area after having driven the woman Israel into the Negev Wilderness south of Beersheva.

Daniel 11:42 – He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
