DEBKAfile’s military sources report that Israel has placed its military and air forces on its northern borders on high alert after Iran and Syria ignored Jerusalem’s warning, relayed to Washington,

that the continued presence of Iranian, Syrian and Hizballah officers on the strategic Lebanese Sannine peak may spark a military clash.

Monday, July 14, two days ahead of the prisoner swap with Hizballah, Israel’s army spokesmen disclosed that Iranian officers had assumed command of Hizballah’s fighting units.

Our military sources report that the disclosure, which further fueled the cross-border tension, referred to the Iranian officers in command of Hizballah teams atop the 7,800-foot Mt.

Sannine peak, whence they can monitor and menace US Sixth Fleet movements in the eastern Mediterranean and Israeli Air Force flights.

Iranian officers have also been attached to Hizballah’s anti-air, surface, and shore-to-ship missile units across Lebanon.

All Israel’s military, police and security contingents are also on the ready in case of trouble flaring immediately after Israel and Hizballah exchange prisoners Wednesday.

They estimate that once the exchange is out of the way, Hizballah will unleash a cross-border assault and terrorist action inside Israel, its promised revenge for the killing of their military commander Imad Mughniyeh in Damascus last February for which they blame Israel.

Israel’s restraint against Hamas’ missiles campaign from Gaza, despite repeated threats, has left Hizballah and Tehran unmoved by its warning on Lebanon.

The electrical vibes on the Israel-Lebanese border have not reached Paris or impacted President Nicolas Sarkozy’s drive, encouraged by the Bush administration, to end Bashar Assad’s international isolation and so cut him away from his alliance with Iran and ties with Hizballah.

The very opposite process is racing fast forward in the Middle East.

(IsraelNN.com) Arab reports indicate that Hizbullah is preparing to arm its rockets with chemical warheads

and to build extensive fortifications. Defense Minister Ehud Barak blames the Syrians, while Prime Minister Ehud Olmert asks the United Nations to do something.

“[UN] Resolution 1701 is being violated. The Hizbullah continues to get stronger with the ongoing and intimate assistance of the Syrians,” according to Defense Minister Barak. Speaking at a meeting of the Labor party’s Knesset representatives on Monday, Barak said, “The delicate balance that exists on the northern border should not be violated on the two-year anniversary of the Second Lebanon War.

We should make an explicit statement: Resolution 1701 did not work, it is not work ing, and all

indications are that it will not work in the future. It is a failure.”

Adding further weight to Defense Minister Barak’s declaration is an article in the Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyasa, which reported Monday that Hizbullah has acquired chemicals needed to make weapons such as nerve gas or mustard gas from North Korean suppliers. The Lebanese terrorist organization is allegedly preparing to arm its Katyusha rockets with such chemical warheads. Echoing Barak’s claims, the Kuwaiti paper also stated that the assistance of Syria and Iran has been crucial in Hizbullah’s efforts to acquire chemical weapons capabilities. The Al-Siyasa report was based on intelligence provided to the Kuwaiti paper by Syrian opposition figures in the United States.

Other Arab sources also indicate Hizbullah is entrenching itself for another attack on Israel. The organization is reportedly stockpiling “truckloads” of building materials, such as steel and concrete, in order to restore and expand the terrorists’ network of fortifications in southern Lebanon.

Beirut-based Dalal Steel Industries, a leading manufacturer of steel reinforced buildings, reported that it has provided Hizbullah with substantial bunker-building and other materials. The company told Arab media that it had been shipping Hizbullah orders southwards towards Israel’s border. The underground bunkers used by Hizbullah, usually hidden by natural cover such as trees and foliage, were coined “nature reserves” by the IDF in

the 2006 Second Lebanon War, and they proved difficult targets to find and destroy.

Eyewitness accounts allege that Hizbullah members are preventing UNIFIL forces from inspecting the trucks or preventing their movements. Reports by UNIFIL commanders have confirmed that local Hizbullah supporters have effectively prevented the force from efficiently performing its duties under UN Security Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Lebanon War. Among other tasks, the UNIFIL mandate is to assure a southern Lebanon “free of any armed personnel, assets and weapons other than those of the Government of Lebanon and of UNIFIL deployed in this area.”

In light of the failure of UNIFIL and the ratcheting up of Hizbullah forces, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert turned to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon to prevent weapons smuggling to Hizbullah units in southern Lebanon. “UNIFIL must act much more intensively,” Olmert said during a meeting with Ki-Moon on Monday.

Barak told a Labor Party forum on Monday that the resolution had not worked, does not work now, and will probably never work. Despite the resolution’s call for a strict ban on arms shipments to Hizbullah, the group has rearmed and now has a larger rocket arsenal than it did during the war. “Hizbullah is continuing to ignore [the resolution] with the ongoing intimate assistance of the Syrians,” Barak said. Most of the deals reached with Islamic nations are reached by secret negotiations which are eventually allowed to surface for international acceptance. After the initial attack against the Israelis it will become quite clear that the only real support we will provide will not be to fight in direct combat alongside them, but to airlift them to the Negev and provide humanitarian support to them in that locale for some three and one half years. We have tired of our position of world leadership in this era of constant

international criticism and internal political confusion, and are longing to return to an isolationist doctrine. I believe the next election will provide that for us, and we will watch Israel go down the tubes in spite of our many years of bravely declaring we would stand with them.

High US official to attend nuclear talks with Iran, capping secret US-Tehran diplomacy

The announcement that US Under Secretary of State William Burns will join the meeting the European Union’s Javier Solana holds with Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili in Switzerland this week makes official the secret diplomatic track afoot between Washington and Tehran, which was first disclosed by DEBKA-Net-Weekly on June 27.

Our US sources confirm that this step distances the Bush administration still further from Israel’s policy position, which calls for the curtailment of Iran’s drive for a nuclear bomb by all means, including military action.

It leaves Jerusalem alone in the arena against Iran on the nuclear and other security issues, such as Hizballah, Syria and the radicalized Lebanese government.

The Washington announcement came a day after Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama reiterated he was willing to engage Iran’s leaders in direct talks.

In its June 27 issue, DEBKA-Net-Weekly 354 reported (Secret US-Iran Talks: Bush Pulls Iran Diplomacy Carpet from under Obama) that President George W. Bush had hijacked Obama’s opening to Iran to fashion a diplomatic legacy for his successor and help John McCain get elected.

The indirect peace talks Olmert initiated with Syria through Turkey are now revealed as a smoke screen which he laid down unwittingly to cover Washington’s pursuit of a secret rapprochement with Tehran and Damascus.

A further sign that the secret US-Iran dialogue was about to surface came from a surprisingly mild statement by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Monday that his government is willing to hold direct contacts with US officials on the understanding that Iran retains the right to enrich uranium.

Last week, William Burns told the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee that he was optimistic about the prospects of nuclear negotiations with Iran.

He played down the fact that Tehran had not given an inch on the enrichment issue or halted its advance towards nuclear weaponization.

The official US statement Wednesday said Burns “will be there [at the big power talks in Switzerland] to listen, not negotiate.”

U.S. Envoy to Join Meeting with Iranian on Nuclear Program

President Bush has authorized the most significant American diplomatic contact with Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, sending the State Department’s third-ranking official to Geneva for a meeting on Saturday on Iran’s nuclear program, administration officials said Tuesday. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs William J. Burns will attend the meeting with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and Iran’s nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, who is expected to present Iran’s formal response to a package of economic and diplomatic incentives presented to Iran in June.

The decision appeared to bend the administration’s insistence that it would not negotiate with Iran over its nuclear programs unless it first suspended uranium enrichment.

Clifford Kupchan of the Eurasia Group, a consultancy in Washington, said, “Disclaimers notwithstanding, the precondition that Iran must suspend [enrichment] before the U.S. will talk about the nuclear issue will by every standard have been dropped.” (New York Times)

Tectonic Chaos on Earth’s Horizon

I have long believed the geological upheavals in the prophetic Scriptures describe perfectly what has occurred on the earth in the past during what geological texts refer to as “mountain building” periods. I believe God controls the elements of the earth that produce these “mountain building” periods, which can be brief or very long term episodes.

Basically, that is what my three books describe – a worldwide mountain building period of some three and one half years. It will be abrupt in its initial surge and diminish as rapidly as it began some three and one half years later. Earth’s episodes of mountain building are what caused me to title my first published book “Tectonic Chaos.”

The word “isostasy” is a geological term used to define the general state of equilibrium in the earth’s crust maintained by the gravity induced flow of deep rock.

I first heard the word used in a Physical Geology class I had at Arkansas Tech University in the seventies and, by the time I had graduated and taken post graduate geological courses, I became convinced that many of the prophetic Bible verses indicated the isostasy of the earth was going to be put in a state of equilibrium confusion at some future point, quite likely during my lifetime, if I made fourscore years.

I have believed for some 32 years that the first earthquake in the Book of Revelation begins a three and one half year mountain building period and the last earthquake in it marks the close of it.

Revelation 6:12,14 – And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became

as blood. [14] And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Revelation 16:18,20 – And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and

so great. [20] And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

I also believe both these earthquakes will occur in Israel.

Tremors of a powerful earthquake with an epicenter near the Greek island of Rhodes were felt throughout Israel on Tuesday morning.

According to Israeli reports, the quake measured 6.8 on the Richter Scale, and was felt in Israel at 6:35 a.m, primarily in the northern and central parts of the country.

While nobody was wounded in Israel and no damage was reported, in Greece a 56-year-old woman was killed after falling down a flight of stairs while she ran towards safety.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the quake struck at 6:26 a.m. (0326 GMT) with its epicenter located 445 kilometers (275 miles) sou theast of A

thens, beneath the seabed south of Rhodes, and was also felt on the islands of Santorini and Crete.

The US Geological Survey gave the magnitude as 6.4. Magnitudes often differ in the first hours and days after an earthquake.

Local authorities in the affected areas appealed for calm, and seismologists said that while Rhodes lies in a seismically active area, major aftershocks were not expected.

The quake occurred at a depth of about 70 kilometers (about 45 miles).

Recently in Israel, Health Ministry director-general Prof. Avi Yisraeli issued a letter to all hospitals, health funds and Magen David Adom asking them to ensure that they are prepared for the possibility of an earthquake in the North.

In my books and lectures for the last 29 years, I have discussed the field of magnetism generated on the earth by a great internal movement of a liquid mantle around a solid core. The magnetic poles are positioned by liquid iron movement around the solid core of the earth, determining the immediate position of both poles by the iron’ s weight juxtapo

sition at that moment.

Studies have determined that the earth’s magnetic shield protection has decreased by some ten percent over the last 150 years. The magnetic shield protects life on earth from deadly rays from the sun which would long ago have initially prevented or destroyed human life’s existence on the planet.

The recent monster shifting in the earth’s crust that produced the great tsunami off the coast of Sumatra a year ago, affected the internal weight balance of the earth, which in turn affects the magnetic declination of a moving magnetic north.

Magnetic north was first discovered in 1831, and it moved more than 30 miles by 1904. During the last century and a half magnetic north has moved almost 700 miles into the Artic. Its movement for the first one hundred years, following its discovery, was steady, but its movement increased in the last century, and it is accelerating at the present time. If the present rate and direction of movement continue, it will swing out

of extreme northern Canada into Siberia.

During the history of the earth there have been sudden reversals of the magnetic poles. During these episodes the magnetic shield temporarily breaks down, which allows solar rays to penetrate to the surface of the planet. These episodes are associated with mountain building periods, which would align with the prophecy of Isaiah.

Isaiah 24:17-21 – Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. [18] And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

Evidence for Rapid Geomagnetic Reversal

Coe and Prevot have analyzed paleomagnetism in a Miocene basalt flow at Steens Mountain in southeastern Oregon, U.S.A. Using cooling models, they obtained good estimates of the time lapse between when various levels of the basalt flow cooled to a sufficiently low temperature for the magnetic characteristics to remain fixed (be recorded). From an analysis of the paleomagnetism at various levels in the flow, together with the associated time differences, they were able to establish geomagnetic field change rates of at least 3 degrees direction and 300 gammas intensity per day. At 3 degrees change per day a reversal (180 degrees change) could be completed in two months.

Three hundred gammas is in the vicinity of 1/150 of the present geomagnetic intensity. The available evidence indicates that although the geomagnetic field intensity decreased during reversals, it did not drop to zero.

Coe and Prevot describe 3 degrees per day as “an astonishingly rapid rate of variation of the geomagnetic field direction”, and state further that “the rapidity and large amplitude of geomagnetic variation that we infer …, even when regarded as an impulse during polarity transition, truly strains the imagination”. They conclude that the most probable explanation for the observations on which their conclusions are based “is the occurrence of a large and extremely rapid change in the geomagnetic field during cooling of the flow, and that this change most likely originated in the core [of the earth]”.

Rapid changes in the churning movement of Earth’s liquid outer core are weakening the magnetic field in some regions of the planet’s surface, a new study says.

“What is so surprising is that rapid, almost sudden, changes take place in the Earth’s magnetic field,” s aid study co-

author Nils Olsen, a geophysicist at the Danish National Space Center in Copenhagen.

The findings suggest similarly quick changes are simultaneously occurring in the liquid metal, 1,900 miles (3,000 kilometers) below the surface, he said.

The swirling flow of molten iron and nickel around Earth’s solid center triggers an electrical current, which generates the planet’s magnetic field.

The study, published recently in Nature Geoscience, modeled Earth’s magnetic field using nine years of highly accurate satellite data.

Flip-Flop

Fluctuations in the magnetic field have occurred in several far-flung regions of Earth, the researchers found.

In 2003 scientists found pronounced changes in the magnetic field in the Australasian region. In 2004, however, the changes were focused on Southern Africa.

The changes “may suggest the possibility of an upcoming reversal of the geomagnetic field,” said study co-author Mioara Mandea, a scientist at the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam.

Earth’s magnetic field has reversed hundreds of times over the past billion years, and the process could take thousands of years to complete.

Upper Atmosphere Radiation

The decline in the magnetic field also is opening Earth’s upper atmosphere to intense charged particle radiation, scientists say.

Satellite data show the geomagnetic field decreasing in the South Atlantic region, Mandea said, adding that an oval-shaped area east of Brazil is significantly weaker than similar latitudes in other parts of the world.

“It is in this region that the shielding effect of the magnetic field is severely reduced, thus allowing high energy particles of the hard radiation belt to penetrate deep into the upper atmosphere to altitudes below a hundred kilometers (62 miles),” Mandea said.

This radiation does not influence temperatures on Earth. The particles, however, do affect technical and radio equipment and can damage electronic equipment on satellites and airplanes, Olsen of the Danish space center said.

The study documents just how rapidly the flow in Earth’s core is changing, said Peter Olson, a geophysics professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, who was not involved with the research.

By using satellite imagery, researchers have a nearly continuous measurement of changes, he said.

“They provide a good rationale to continue this monitoring longer,” Olson said.

Since Al Gore first introduced the Frankenstein stories on his money making global warming hoax, I have hoped for an article written by a far more talented writer than myself, which would articulate my views in a more comprehensive manner than I am capable of articulating – In this morning’s news I found it. I have never questioned that CO2 does cause a slight increase in the earth’s water temperature, which over a long period of time would cause a small rise in the global sea level. But the bold lies issued by some of the “greenies” are simply fantastic opium dreams of unimaginable imagination that have no scientific basis.

The horrible thing about all this is that the global warming hoax is now adding such a burden on the cost of manufacturers and farmers ability to provide food, clothing, and shelter to the world’s population, while the world’s economy is tottering on a pinnacle of disaster.

Today’s current “Green Revolution” is comparable to the old “Catholic Inquisition” of the dark ages. It could be labeled a government hunt for non-existent witches.

I will, however, admit that my viewpoint on drilling for more sources of Alaskan and

off shore oil is highly biased.

It is a viewpoint that plays directly into the hands of all unbelievers who say we should leave the oil there for the future use of our children. I think we should drill now for the benefit of our children today, because I am convinced our children of the future will be living in the millennial reign of Christ, and I can assure you He can take care of “global warming.” So, from both my scientific training and my Christian belief, I believe we would do far better to prepare our children for the Second Advent than to save them

some Alaskan and off shore oil reserves.

If I thought it possible the Second Advent was a far distant event, then I might be in favor of leaving the current U.S. oil reserves in place, but I am convinced the war, which is prophesied to begin some three and one half years before the final battle of Armageddon, could begin at some point in time between 2010 and 2015. I also admit that some believers still think the Second Advent is in the far off sweet forever in the land of never-never, but I am not one of them.

We would do much better to prepare our children spiritually for the Second Advent than to save things for their physical needs in a future time when they won’t need them.

We are about to experience the beginning of the final war of this Gentile Age and our children are not prepared for it. Ten Islamic horns are now sprouting in the Middle East that will eventually attack Israel to suddenly kick off the last war of this age.

When it comes to global warming, extreme scare stories abound.

Al Gore, for example, famously claimed that a whopping six metres of sea-level rise would flood major cities around the world.

Gore’s scientific adviser, Jim Hansen from Nasa, has even topped his protege. Hansen suggests that there will eventually be sea-level rises of 24 metres, with a six-metre rise happening just this century. Little wonder that fellow environmentalist Bill McKibben states that “we are engaging in a reckless drive-by drowning of much of the rest of the planet and much of the rest of creation.”

Given all the warnings, here is a slightly inconvenient truth: over the past two years, the global sea level hasn’t increased. It has slightly decreased. Since 1992, satellites orbiting the planet have measured the global sea level every 10 days with an amazing degree of accuracy – 3-4mm. For two years, sea levels have declined. (All of the data are available at sealevel.colorado.edu.)

This doesn’t mean that global warming is not true. As we emit more CO2, over time the temperature will moderately increase, causing the sea to warm and expand somewhat. Thus, the sea-level rise is expected to pick up again. This is what the UN climate panel is telling us; the best models indicate a sea-level rise over this century of 18 to 59 centimeters (7-24 inches), with the typical estimate at 30cm. This is not terrifying or even particularly scary – 30cm is how much the sea rose over the last 150 years.

Simply put, we’re being force-fed vastly over-hyped scare stories. Proclaiming six meters of sea-level rise over this century contradicts thousands of UN scientists, and requires the sea-level rise to accelerate roughly 40-fold from today. Imagine how climate alarmists would play up the story if we actually saw an increase in the sea-level rise.

Increasingly, alarmists claim that we should not be allowed to hear such facts.

In June, Hansen proclaimed that people who spread “disinformation” about global warming – CEOs, politicians, in fact anyone who doesn’t follow Hansen’s narrow definition of the “truth” – should literally be tried for crimes against humanity.

It is depressing to see a scientist – even a highly politicized one – calling for a latter-day inquisition. Such a blatant attempt to curtail scientific inquiry and stifle free speech seems inexcusable.

But it is perhaps also a symptom of a broader problem. It is hard to keep up the climate panic as reality diverges from the alarmist predictions more than ever before: the global temperature has not risen over the past 10 years, it has declined precipitously in the last year and a half, and studies show that it might not rise again before the middle of the next decade. With a global recession looming and high oil and food prices undermining the living standards of the western middle class, it is becoming ever harder to sell

the high-cost, inefficient Kyoto-style solution of drastic carbon cuts.

A much sounder approach than Kyoto and its successor would be to invest more in research and development of zero-carbon energy technologies – a cheaper, more effective way to truly solve the climate problem.

Hansen is not alone in trying to blame others for his message’s becoming harder to sell. Canada’s top environmentalist, David Suzuki, stated earlier this year that politicians “complicit in climate change” should be thrown in jail. Campaigner Mark Lynas envisions Nuremberg-style “international criminal tribunals” against those who dare to challenge the climate dogma. Clearly, this column places me at risk of incarceration by Hansen & Co.

But the globe’s real problem is not a series of inconvenient facts. It is that we have blocked out sensible solutions through an alarmist panic, leading to bad policies.

Consider one of the most significant steps taken to respond to climate change. Adopted because of the climate panic, biofuels were supposed to reduce CO2 emissions. Hansen described them as part of a “brighter future for the planet.” But using biofuels to combat climate change must rate as one of the poorest global “solutions” to any great challenge in recent times.

Biofuels essentially take food from mouths and puts it into cars. The grain required to fill the tank of an SUV with ethanol is enough to feed one African for a year. Thirty percent of this year’s corn production in the United States will be burned up on America’s highways. This has been possible only through subsidies that globally will total $15bn this year alone.

Because increased demand for biofuels leads to cutting down carbon-rich forests, a 2008 Science study showed that the net effect of using them is not to cut CO2 emissions, but to double them. The rush towards biofuels has also strongly contributed to rising food prices, which have tipped another roughly 30 million people into starvation.

Because of climate panic, our attempts to mitigate climate change have provoked an unmitigated disaster. We will waste hundreds of billions of dollars, worsen global warming, and dramatically increase starvation.

We have to stop being scared silly, stop pursuing stupid policies, and start investing in smart long-term R&D. Accusations of “crimes against humanity” must cease. Indeed, the real offense is the alarmism that closes minds to the best ways to respond to climate change.

What is going on the Middle East has been building up worldwide for a very long time between what are commonly referred to as Christians, Muslims, and Jews.

It is a religious war and all the political correctness available in mankind’s vocabulary and cultural diversity is not going to prevent this final crash of the world’s civilizations. Atheists, agnostics, and all the “who cares” and “don’t knows” are also going to be a part of it, like it or not. Of course, my advice to everyone, including myself, at this late point in the saga of man, is what you may have just read in Luke 11:35. We all need to make sure at this late hour in time that what we think is light (the truth) in us, isn’t really darkness (a lie).

What I believe is the “light” in me is defined quite specifically in the book of John.

John 5:24 – Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 3:18-21 – He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into

the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

[20] For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

John 8:12 – Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 5:40 – And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Today there are about 1.5 Billion Muslims breathing on this planet who think they have the light of God in them, but the light they think is light is darkness. Their own clerics have followed their inner darkness for so long they cannot phantom the difference between a lie and the truth.

He added that Iran’s missile capabilities would only be used to safeguard the country’s security and stability.

He stated that “in the past three decades, the Islamic Republic has proven its high regard for international regulations as it has neither invaded any country nor threatened any state.”

Elsewhere in his sermon, Ayatollah Kashani said Iran was ready to talk over its nuclear issue, and emphasized Iran’s inalienable right to peaceful nuclear technology and its commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, saying, “Iran and Europe are ready for talks now. Iran accepts the NPT overall.

The peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program is fully clear.”
