In Greek mythology, Pandora’s box is the box carried by Pandora that contained all the evils of mankind — greed, vanity, slander, lies, envy, pining — and hope.

The original Greek word translated “box’ w as pithos which is

a large jar.

The mistranslation of pithos as “box” is usually attributed to the 16th century humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam when he translated Hesiod’s tale of Pandora into Latin.

In 1516 Erasmus published his now famous annotated New Testament.

Hesiod’s pithos refers to a storage jar for oil or grain. Erasmus, however, translated pithos into the Latin word pyxis, meaning “box”.The phrase “Pandora’s box” has endured ever since. This misconception was futher backed by Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s painting ‘Pandora.”

Pandora had been given a jar and instructed by Zeus to keep it closed, but she had also been given the gift of curios

ity, and ultimately opened it.

When she did, all of the evils

of mankind escaped from the jar, although Pandora was quick enough to close it again and keep one value inside, and that was Hope.

I am afraid the only Hope left for mankind comes from Erasmus’ New Testament translation as follows:

Titus 2:13-15 – Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; [14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. [15] These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

The seeds of evil have hatched again in Pandora’s Box to produce the children of its original occupants, who first escaped when Satan fell, and the seeds are more evil than their parents.

II Timothy 3:1-5 – This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Jude:14,15 – And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, [15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

At the present time we are observing the future events of the tribulation period anxiously stirring inside Pandora’s Box in anticipation of a very great outward explosion at a future date.

I believe the lid is likely to suddenly blow off at some point in time between 2010 and 2015, to begin to release the horror of the great tribulation period.

Matthew 24:21,22 – For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. [22] And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Al-Sadr Wants Arabs to Back ‘Resistance’

BAGHDAD

Anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has called on Arab leaders

meeting in Syria to voice their support for Iraq’s “resistance” to what he calls foreign occupation.

Al-Jazeera television has shown a brief clip of an interview with the Mahdi Army militia leader. It says the full interview will be shown later Saturday.

The broadcast is the first word from the reclusive cleric since the Iraqi government launched a crackdown against militia violence in the southern oil port of Basra earlier this week.

Al-Sadr is believed to be in Iran, but Al-Jazeera doesn’t say where or when the interview took place.

The portly al-Sadr, who is in his mid-30s, appears to have lost a great deal of weight in the clip.

Abbas urges Arab, int’l forces to protect Palestinians from IDF

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday called on Arab and international forces in the Palestinian territories to protect his people against Israeli attacks.

Abbas has called in the past for international peacekeepers in the Gaza Strip, but his call Saturday at the Arab Summit in Damascus marked the first time he has urged Arab countries to send forces.

In his speech at the summit, Abbas accused Israel of undermining the basis for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and of attacking Gaza “brutally,” killing innocent Palestinians.

He asked Arab countries to “think seriously of Arab and international protection for our people.”
Abbas took a sharply pessimistic tone over Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations launched in December. […….]

[…….] Earlier, in his opening speech at the gathering, Syrian President Bashar Assad accused Israel of rejecting every peace initiative offered over the last three decades.

Assad singled out the Madrid conference and the 2002 Arab peace initiative, saying that Israel had responded to those proposals by massacring Palestinians, continuing settlement activity and building the security barrier.

The Syrian president said Israel had used every possible chance to prove how uncooperative it is and questioned how long Arab nations can keep offering Israel a land-for-peace proposal.

Assad said peace was the only way for Israel to gain security in the region, and “peace will not come except through withdrawal from occupied Arab land and giving back (Arab) rights.”

He added that Israel was “exploiting the internal Palestinian divisions for its own benefit.”

Assad warned that Arab countries may have to seek alternatives to the Arab peace initiative if Israel continues to refuse to accept it. The proposal offers Israel full peace with Arab nations if it withdraws from “occupied lands” and allows for the creation of a Palestinian state.

“The question is: Do we leave the peace process and initiatives hostage to the whims of successive Israeli governments, or do we search for choices and substitutes that can achieve a just and comprehensive peace?” Assad said.

Assad went on to accuse Israel of stalling on peace negotiations with Syria.

“The foot-dragging Israel is displaying on the issue of peace with Syria for the return of Golan Heights is not working in its favor and the passing time won’t help it achieve better conditions in the future,” he said. […….]

[…….]Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi slammed Arab countries for calling on Israel to only pull back to the 1967 borders. “The occupation did not start in 1967 and Palestine is not only the West Bank and the Gaza Strip,” he said.

Gadhafi reiterated his proposal to establish one state for Israelis and Palestinians between Jordan and the Mediterranean. He said the state should be a haven for all Palestinian refugees, it should disarm its nuclear weapons and hold democratic elections.

Saturday’s session comes amid anger among pro-US Arab countries over what they say is Syria’s obstruction of the election of a new president in Lebanon. They are also worried about Damascus’s close alliance with Iran, Hamas and Hizbullah.

Hamas chiefs tout Israel truce, call for internal reconciliation

Hamas’ exiled leader Khaled Meshal wants reconciliation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ rival group Fatah and is interested in a conditional truce with Israel, a pro-Hamas Web site quoted him as saying Friday.

Meshal urged Arab leaders to support the group’s fight against Israel and to protest against an Israeli-led blockade of Gaza, defending daily cross-border Qassam attacks as self-defense, according to the Web site.

But he also reiterated Hamas was ready to discuss a “comprehensive” cease-fire with Israel.

“All Palestinian factions of resistance have expressed full readiness to deal with the issue of calm, on condition that it be comprehensive, reciprocal and simultaneous,” Meshal was quoted as saying.

The Gaza-based Web site also said Meshal wrote to Arab leaders requesting support for Hamas-Fatah dialogue, after a Yemen-brokered agreement to revive talks between the rival factions appeared to falter this week.

Meshal, along with Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, urged Arab leaders to back the Yemen proposal for Palestinian reconciliation. […..]

Egypt, with U.S. blessing, has been trying to broker a cessation of hostilities between Israel and militants in Gaza.

Israel, denying it is involved in cease-fire negotiations says it would have no reason to strike Hamas if rocket salvoes ceased.

Meanwhile, Hamas members in the Gaza Strip on Friday called on Arab states to drop their proposal for a comprehensive peace deal with Israel, and support the militant group’s policy of violence.

On Thursday, Arab foreign ministers re-endorsed the Saudi plan for peace with Israel originally launched in 2002.

About 2,000 people gathered at a Hamas-organized rally in Gaza, as delegates convened in Damascus ahead of the annual Arab summit. Hamas was not invited to the summit hosted by its closest ally in the region.

Hamas official Khalil al-Haya said Israel would only respond to violence, and encouraged others to join it.

“Cut all ties with Israel, withdraw the Arab initiative,” he shouted. “The Zionist enemy doesn’t have a vision of peace. Only force … fighting and holy war works with [Israel.]”

The Saudi-sponsored peace initiative offers Israel peace with all Arab countries in return for withdrawal from all the lands it captured in the 1967 Six-Day War, the creation of a Palestinian state with a Jerusalem as its capital and a solution to the refugee issue.

Mushir al-Masri, another Hamas official, said the Arab initiative was a burden on Palestinians.

“Hamas is defending the honor and dignity of this nation on the [Arabs’] behalf,” he said.

The rally was peppered with pleas from children for a lifting of the closure imposed on Gaza after Hamas violently seized the territory. “Your summit will be useless if you don’t lift the siege on Gaza,” a young boy screamed into a microphone.

NEXT YEAR IN JERUSALEM!

The well known hope of Israel in her exile years was stated, “Next Year in Jerusalem.” And I do realize that Benyamin Netanyahu, in the Arutz Sheba article which follows, is saying Iran will exert its presence in the affairs of the city of Jerusalem through the Palestinians, if Israel lets the PA establish its capital there. However, it will also eventually lead to a literal physical presence of Iranians in Israel and Jerusalem, which will last for some three and one half years, at which time God delivers Israel during his Son’s Second Advent at Armageddon.

I am of the opinion that the initial attack which begins the last three and one half years of the Age of the Gentiles is likely to be launched against Israel from the north at some point in time between 2010 and 2015, and that after it is launched it will end with the battle of Armageddon some three and one-half years later.

Netanyahu: J’lem Withdrawal Will Bring Iran to Capital

Opposition leader Benyamin Netanyahu warned Sunday that an Israeli withdrawal from any part of Jerusalem would lead to the creation of an Iranian base in the heart of Israel.

“The Iranian threat (must be neutralized) before it arms itself with a nuclear bomb. In addition, Iran must be prevented from building its main bases in the region, from Gaza to Lebanon, and particularly in Jerusalem,” he said.

Netanyahu has been warning about Iran’s nuclear ambitions for more than a decade. His 1995 book Fighting Terrorism contains a chapter entitled “The Specter of Nuclear Terrorism” that focuses largely on the Islamic Republic, and outlines the history of Iran’s nuclear installations at Bushehr and Isfahan and concludes with a chilling warning about terrorist groups and states obtaining nuclear weapons: “(They will) invariably deploy them in the service of their aggressive purposes.”

In addition to security issues, Netanyahu told US Vice President Dick Cheney that basic religious freedoms for non-Muslims would be endangered by ceding parts of the capital to Iran and its latest prodigy, the Hamas terrorist organization.

“Hamas, Iran and other forces affiliated with them will take control of it.

They will threaten Jerusalem’s wellbeing, Israel’s security and the freedom of worship for millions of pilgrims and members of the different religions who visit the city today,” he said. Cheney replied that the US administration understood the situation.

Netanyahu also reiterated his call to the Shas Party to quit the government over ongoing negotiations over Jerusalem with the PA, which Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni confirmed on Friday. Earlier this month, the Shas party received some 185 million shekels in government funding for its institutions as part of its coalition agreement.

Eventually, when American troops pull out of Iraq, Iran will take over southern Iraqi and its vast oil fields through the Hizbullah inspired mob of the Mahdi Army.

Basra (Al Baṣrah) is the third-largest city of Iraq with an estimated population of 1,700,000 (2003). It is the country’s main port and the capital of the Basra Governorate. Basra played an important role in early Islamic history, and it was the first city built in Islam 14 A.H. (After Hijra). The Hijra or withdrawal, is the migration of Muhammad and his followers to the city of Medina from Mecca in 622 A.D.

Basra was founded as a military encampment by the second caliph, Umar I, in 638 A.D. about 8 miles (13 km) from the modern town of Az-Zubayr. The first architecturally significant mosque in Islam was constructed there in 665 A.D.

By 750 A.D. the Islamic Umayyad Caliphate or Empire had expanded out of Mecca and Medina to extend into, or to engulf, the territories now occupied by France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Yemen, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and India. Eventually the last Caliphate, the old Ottoman Empire, engulfed most of southeastern Europe, but then died as “the old sick man of Europe.” I believe we are watching the revival of Islam in the Jihad movement.

The area surrounding Basra has substantial petroleum resources and many oil wells. The city also has an international airport, which recently began restored service to Baghdad with Iraqi Airways – the nation’s flag airline.

Basra is in a fertile agricultural region, with major products including rice, maize corn, barley, pearl millet, wheat, dates, and livestock. The city’s oil refinery has a production capacity of about 140,000 barrels a day.

Muslim adherents of the area are primarily members of the Jafari Shi`a sect. A sizeable number of Sunnis 35% of Basra also live there – although after the war it increasingly decreased to less than 10%[, as well as a small number of Christians. There are also remnants of the pre-Islamic gnostic sect of Mandaeans, whose headquarters were in the area formerly called Suk esh-Sheikh.

Basra oil pipeline struck by bomb Thursday on third day of fighting

The bomb exploded under the Zubair-1 pipeline carrying crude to Iraq’s Gulf terminals.

The blast, the second this week and the turbulence which erupted Monday, are expected to affect oil exports and drilling operations from southern Iraq.

In the Shiite town of Kut, Basra’s neighbor, 44 people are reported killed in fighting between Iraqi forces and local militias Thursday. At least 60 killed, 200 injured were killed Wednesday, when prime minister Nouri Maliki gave the militias and gangs 72 hours to lay down their arms and called in reinforcements from the Shiite town of Karbala.

In Baghdad, 17 people were killed Thursday in clashes in Sadr City

in support of the Shiite militias and Hizballah Brigades fighting in Basra.

Five southern provinces are under curfew.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that heavy fighting was sparked in the southern Iraqi oil hub city Tuesday, March 25, by the Maliki government’s first massive military challenge to rival militias, including the Sadrist Mehdi Army and the Hizballah Brigades of Iraq, which our sources report raised its head in mid-January in several parts of the country, including Baghdad.

DEBKAfile reports: Muqtada Sadr’s Mehdi Army have taken up arms and declared civil revolt, calling on Maliki to resign.

The new arrival has joined the armed Shiite groups and criminal gangs battling for control of Basra and its oil resources. Ignored by the international media, the Iraqi Hizballah draws on its Lebanese command for orders, fighters, arms and cash. A tentacle of the Lebanese Shiite terror group has therefore quietly grabbed a piece of the insurgent action in Iraq under the aegis of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards al Qods Brigades.

Iraqi troops, Mahdi Army fight for control of Sadr City

Shi’ite militiamen are everywhere. Police and Iraqi army checkpoints are nowhere in sight. US soldiers are keeping their distance.

Sadr City – the Baghdad nerve center for the powerful Mahdi Army – is suddenly back on edge as the militia leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, and Iraq’s government lock in a dangerous confrontation over clout and control among the nation’s majority Shi’ites.

The epicenter of the showdown has been the southern oil hub of Basra, where clashes have claimed dozens of lives this week and al-Sadr’s forces face a Friday deadline to surrender.

But a more finely tuned measure of the tensions may be found among the one- and two-story homes and shabby storefronts of Sadr City. As the crisis deepened, The Associated Press toured Sadr City on Wednesday to observe its rapid swing from relative quiet to a return of the Mahdi Army swagger before the US military troop buildup in Baghdad last year.

Sadr City – named after Muqtada al-Sadr’s father, who was assassinated in 1999 – is seen as critical to the overall stability and security of the capital.

A resurgence of Mahdi Army attacks and opposition could roll back the gains that have allowed Baghdad residents to take cautious steps toward normal life and offered Washington hope of accelerating troop withdrawals.

But recent days have resurrected old challenges.

Al-Sadr’s militia forces, estimated at about 60,000, now seem itching for a fight. The current crisis c ame to

a head over US and Iraqi raids that have detained hundreds of Mahdi Army loyalists even as the group maintained a shaky cease-fire since August – which the Pentagon has credited for helping bring down violence.

The tensions have spilled over into street battles in Basra between Mahdi fighters and Iraqi government forces.

Fighting also has flared in other cities across southern Iraq’s Shi’ite heartland – where Iran is hedging its bets by supporting factions of the Mahdi Army and its main Shi’ite rival.

Mahdi fighters also are blamed for a series of rocket barrages on the US-protected Green Zone, which was hit again Wednesday. The Pentagon appears to want no part of the current troubles. Commanders worry that American troops could be drawn into difficult urban conflict, sapping energy from the fight against al-Qaida in Iraq and other Sunni insurgents.

US forces have made only sporadic stabs into Sadr City, choosing instead to strengthen a security cordon on the outskirts. US commanders, meanwhile, have a limited presence in southern Iraq and show no signs of diverting soldiers – as they did in the last major fight against the Mahdi Army in 2004.

“We are a different force than the one you saw in 2004,” a senior Mahdi commander said

at his Sadr City home.

“We are now better organized, have better weapons, command centers and easy access to logistical and financial support,” added the commander, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

Squatting on the floor next to two of his fighters, the commander sipped sweet black tea as a US helicopter flew low overhead. A burst of gunfire rang out at one point. Another moment, he listened to the screech of a rocket.

“That’s going to the Green Zone,” he said.

When one of his fighters left the house, he warned about driving too close to American patrols on the edge of the district – a grid-pattern of teeming streets in northeast Baghdad built in the 1950s to house poor Shi’ite workers.

It was first named Revolution City. Then it became Saddam City. After Saddam Hussein’s fall in 2003, it was designated Sadr City after al-Sadr’s father, Mohammed Sadeq al-Sadr, whose death is blamed on Saddam agents.

“Don’t be too impressed with what the Americans have.

We can still win because we have faith and a just cause on our side,” said one of the two militiamen in the commander’s home.

Sadr City, home to 2.5 million people, looked like a place bracing for battle.

Its streets – normally crowded and noisy – were oddly quiet. Besides the militiamen, only youngsters were out in large numbers, playing soccer on dirt fields. Most stores were shuttered.

The militiamen, some wearing ammunition belts and sporting two-way radios, were out in full force dressed in a ragtag collection of tracksuits, jeans and pajamas. But they carried the essential firepower for effective street conflict: AK-47 rifles or grenade launchers.

Some stood behind rickety market stands with machine guns perched on top. Snipers took up position on rooftops. Others drove in pickup trucks fitted with machine guns.

Many curbs showed traces of disturbed asphalt – usually a telltale sign of freshly planted roadside bombs. Streets were barricaded by rocks, metal furniture or burning tires.

Lookouts on motorbikes relayed the latest movements of US armor deployed nearby.

Mahdi Army commanders have told the AP that the militia has recently taken delivery of new weapons supplied by backers in Iran. The arsenal, they said, included roadside bombs, anti-aircraft guns and Soviet-designed Grad rockets.

They also said an infusion of cash, also from Iran, helped the militia set up new command centers equipped with Internet-linked computers, fax machines and satellite mobile phones. They have also received global positioning system devices, they said.

The United States has long accused Iran of providing Shi’ite militias in Iraq with arms and training. Iran denies it.

Aides to al-Sadr in Baghdad insisted the Mahdi Army cease-fire remained in force, but warned of dire results if Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s government continued its crackdown against Mahdi militiamen.

“There will be grave consequences,” said Sheik Salman al-Feraiji, al-Sadr’s chief representative in Sadr City.

“We are not going to stand by and watch our sons getting killed,” he told tribal leaders at a mosque. “You must tell the government that you will disown it if it doesn’t stop the operations in the entire south.”

Al-Sadr’s movement gained ground in Sadr City in the immediate aftermath of Saddam’s ouster. It quickly filled the vacuum left by the regime’s fall – and Washington’s lack of postwar planning – by running basic services and clamping down on looting in a district that had once been notorious for high crime and unemployment.

The militia is not universally popular in Sadr City because some of its men are involved in extortion and kidnapping.

But the Mahdi Army is credited by most residents for protecting the district against Sunni militants during the height of Baghdad’s sectarian war in 2006 and early 2007.

The bond between Sadr City’s residents and the militia was on display Wednesday, with families offering fighters water, tea and food.

“Today, a family sent us rice and meat for lunch,” said another militia commander, who identified himself only by the nickname Abu Ali and said he was one of 12 who oversee the Mahdi Army operations in Baghdad and the south.

Al-Sadr’s support was instrumental in helping al-Maliki clinch the prime minister’s job in 2006, but the two men fell out about a year ago.

“Down with al-Maliki’s government,” is now common graffiti in Sadr City.

“The Dawa party is treasonous,” declared another one, referring to al-Maliki’s party.

The glib handling of criticism of his relationship with the anti-American (“God Damn America!”) and anti-Israel (“a dirty word for Negroes”) Reverend James Wright may have bought him a little time. But the legacy of dissimulation about his long-concealed identity is about to come crashing down around the ears of Barack Hussein Obama, courtesy of the assembled testimony of his family, friends, classmates and teachers.

The accumulated research indicates that Obama was in his childhood a devout Muslim, the son of a devout Muslim, the step-son of a devout Muslim and the grandson and namesake (“Hussein”) of a devout Muslim. He was registered in school as a Muslim and demonstrated his ability to chant praise to Allah in impressive Arab-accented tones even as an adult. Just as he has not disavowed his “uncle” Jeremiah, neither has he disavowed his Muslim faith that he was born into, raised with, celebrated and never abandoned. He just covered it over with a thin veneer of his own self-styled “Christianity.”

Although as an adult he would register as a Christian, and occasionally attend a Christian Church (but apparently not often enough to listen to the preaching of his pastor, or so he would claim) this was a necessary step for a man who from earliest boyhood has nurtured the precocious ambition to be President of the United States.

He was entered into the Roman Catholic, Franciscus Assisi Primary School, in Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 1, 1968, registered under the name Barry Soetoro, an Indonesian citizen whose religion was listed as Islam. Catholic schools accept non-Catholics worldwide. Non-Catholic students are typically excused from religious instruction and ceremony.

In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President.'”Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills.

He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.” [AP, 1/25/07]

Three years later, in 1971, Obama enrolled in the Besuki Primary School, a government school, as Barry Soetoro, Muslim. In third grade, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want To Be a President.’ His third grade teacher: Fermina Katarina Sinaga “asked her class to write an essay titled ‘My dream: What I want to be in the future.’ Senator Obama wrote ‘I want to be a President,’ she said.” [The Los Angeles Times, 3/15/07]

All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school and a young Barry Soetoro, being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in

school.

He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam.

In his autobiography, “Dreams From My Father,” Obama mentions studying the Koran and describes the public school as “a Muslim school.”

“In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Koranic studies.”

According to Tine Hahiyary, one of Obama’s teachers and the principal from 1971 through 1989, Barry actively took part in the Islamic religious lessons during his time at the school.

“I remembered that he had studied “mengaji” (recitation of the Quran)” Tine said.

The author of the Laotze blog writes from Jakarta: “The actual usage of the word ‘mengaji’ in Indonesian and Malaysian societies means the study of learning to recite the Quran in the Arabic language rather than the native tongue. “Mengagi” is a word and a term that is accorded the highest value and status in the mindset of fundamentalist societies here in Southeast Asia. To put it quite simply, ‘mengaji classes’ are not something that a non practicing or so-called moderate Muslim family would ever send their child to. To put this in a Christian context, this is something above and beyond simply enrolling your child in Sunday school classes.”

“The fact that Obama had attended mengaji classes is well known in Indonesia and has left many there wondering just when Obama is going to come out of the closet.”

“As I’ve stated before, the evidence seems to quite clearly show that both Ann Dunham and her husband Lolo Soetoro Mangunharjo were in fact devout Muslims themselves and they raised their son as such.”

The Obama Campaign told the LA Times he wasn’t a “practicing Muslim.” (3/14/2007). But his official website says: “Obama Has Never Been A Muslim, And Is a Committed Christian” (11/12/2007)

That’s not what his friends and classmates have said. Classmate Rony Amiris describes young Barry as enjoying playing football and marbles and of being a very devout Muslim. Amir said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house.

If he was wearing a sarong, he looked funny,” said Rony.

Amiris, now the manager of Bank Mandiri, Jakarta, recently said, “Barry was previously quite religious in Islam. His birth father, Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim economist from Kenya. Before marrying Ann Dunham, Hussein Obama was married to a woman from Kenya who had seven children. All the relatives of Barry’s father were very devout Muslims”

Emirsyah Satar, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, was quoted as saying, “He (Obama) was often in the prayer room wearing a ‘sarong’, at that time.”

“He was quite religious in Islam but only after marrying Michelle, he changed his religion.”

So Obama, according to his classmates and friends was a Muslim until the confluence of love and ambitious, caused him to adopt the cloak of Christianity: to marry Michelle and to run for President of the United States.

In “Dreams,” Obama sheds light on his formative years and the political views of his mother, an anthropologist and Islamophile who hated America and subsequently “went native.” (It was her mother — Barry’s “other” grandmother who cared for him in his druggie teenage years — that he would describe as a “typical white person” who was, he said scoldingly, fearful of black men and prone to making stereotypical racial remarks.)

Obama Senior also had three sons by another woman who are all Muslim.

Although Obama claims Senior was an atheist, Senior was buried as a Muslim.

Barack Obama’s brother Roy opted for Islam over Christianity, as the Senator recounted in his book when describ

ing his 1992 wedding. “The person who made me proudest of all,” Obama wrote, “was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam, and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol.”Abongo “argues that the black man must “liberate himself from the poisoning influences of European culture.” He urged his younger brother to embrace his African heritage.

In Kenya while he was a Senator, Obama stumped for his cousin, opposition leader Raila Odinga, the son of Senior’s sister, a direct first cousin and nephew of Obama’s father.

On August 29, 2007, Raila Odinga and Shiekh Abdullah Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum of Kenya signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which it pledges the support of Kenyan Moslems for Raila’s election. In return, as President of Kenya, Raila agrees … within 6 months re-write the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Shariah as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions [and] within one year to facilitate the establishment of a Shariah court in every Kenyan divisional headquarters — everywhere in Kenya, not just in “Muslim declared regions” — and to popularize Islam, the only true religion … by ordering every primary school in Kenya in the regions to conduct daily Madrassa classes.

In an interview with the New York Times, published on April 30th, Maya Soetoro-Ng, Obama’s younger half sister, told the Times, “My whole family was Muslim, and most of the people I knew were Muslim.”

Obama describes his new found “Christian” faith as: (1) Suspicious of dogma (2) Without any monopoly on the truth (3) Nontransferable to others (4) Infused with a big healthy dose of doubt, and (5) Indulgent of and compatible with all other religions.

On February 27th, speaking to Kristof of The New York Times, Barack Hussein Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

In an interview with Nicholas Kristof, published in The New York Times, Obama recited the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, “with a first-class [Arabic] accent.”

The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:

“Allah is Supreme!

Allah is Supreme!

Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!

I witness that there is no god but Allah

I witness that there is no god but Allah

I witness that Muhammad is his prophet

? ”

According to Islamic scholars, reciting the Shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith, makes one a Muslim.

This simple yet profound statement expresses a Muslim’s complete acceptance of, and total commitment to, the message of Islam. Obama chanted it with pride and finesse.

An American Expat in Southeast Asia blog, written by an American who has lived in Indonesia for 20 years and has met with both the Taliban and al-Qaeda, contains the following:

“Barack Hussein Obama might have convinced some Americans that he is no longer a Muslim, but so far he has not convinced many in the world’s most populous Muslim country who still see him as a Muslim and a crusader for Islam and world peace.”

“Barack Hussein Obama’s race, his staunch opposition to the war in Iraq, his sympathy to Islam and Muslims worldwide and his Muslim heritage receive the Indonesian media coverage. There is no mention of his apostasy.”

“A good example of how some of the Indonesian media is reporting on Obama’s religion can be found in the following.”

“What I found interesting in the article was the use of the word ‘mengaku’ when refering to Obama’s conversion from Islam to Christianity. The word ‘mengaku’ in Indonesian means “claimed” and as such leaves the insinuation to the native Indonesian reader being that Obama might actually still be a Muslim.

But this is how Indonesians see Obama, they don’t see him as an apostate at all, they see him as a crusader for the cause of Islam.”

Obama wants it both ways, has always wanted it both ways. Black and white, Indonesian and American, Muslim and Christian. He loves playing one off the other, using one to hide the other even as the traces of the truth may be assembled to reveal the whole cloth of deception and self-promotion he has been weaving so skillfully since his childhood. No wonder he is a man of change. He IS a changeling, a veritable chameleon, adapting and amending his life story to fit the circumstances.

The charm may have worked once. It still works on some. It won’t work forever in the age of the Internet. The fog of ambiguity and dissimulation is dissipated by the harsh, unforgiving and scrutiny of the blogosphere and its unlimited access to historical facts and time-stamped testimony.

Many have been puzzled why Obama could claim not to be familiar with Wright’s rants. It turns out the Trinity Church, like many African-American churches, happily accepts believing Muslims within its congregation. And evidently many Muslims have no problems surrounding themselves with an anti-American, anti-Israel preacher who week in and week out wins the amens of his adoring congregation.

On Feb 15/08, Usama K. Dakdok, President of The Straight Way of Grace Ministry called Obama’s Church and reported the following conversation: ” I then asked the person who answered what I needed to do to join. She told me that I needed to attend two Sunday School classes in a row and then I would walk the aisle. I replied, “That sounds easy. One last question please. If I am Muslim and I believe in the Prophet Mohammed, peace be unto him and I also believe in Jesus, peace be unto him, do I have to give up my Islamic faith to be a member in your church

? She answered: “No, we have many Muslim members in our church.”

Indeed.

The Remnant of Israel, Past, Present, and Future!

Part 6

Revelation 12:14 – And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

The woman is Israel. The place that God has prepared for her is the Negev wilderness. A time is one 360 day year, times are two 360 day years, and half a time is 180 days, which totals 1260 days or 3 and ½ prophetic years. Both these scriptures describe the time period of 42 prophetic months (30 days per month) before the end of the Tribulation Period.

When the antichrist launches his lightning Jihad from the north it will be a two pronged attack. Syrian and Hizbullah troops will launch a blitzkrieg strike southward along the western lees of the Galilean and Samaritan mountain. The Palestinians will zoom northward along out of Gaza along the western lee of the Judean foothills to link with their comrades coming down from the north. This will cut off coastal Israel from interior Israel. Some 70% of the Jewish population lives along the narrow coastal strip from Tel Aviv to Haifa. They will be kept pinned down by thousands of katyusha rockets being launched from the bluff top cities of Tul Karm and Qalqilya in the Samarian Mountains. It will eventually be necessary to air evacuate the population out of this area across the Mediterranean into the Negev, as stated in 12:14. The other battle prong, consisting of troops from Iraq, Syria, and Iran, will be directed southward along the west bank of the Jordan River in a lightning strike.

The Palestinians will pour down the hundreds of dendritic valleys in the eastern lee of the Samarian Mountains, armed with shoulder held antitank launchers. They will destroy many of the Israeli tanks coming north to intercept the southward moving Arab tank units of Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

The Jewish population to the east of the coastal sections, and to the west of the Jordan River, will flee on land in whatever types of transportation may be available. This has long been the national Israel contingency plan that is to be carried out in the event of attack from the north, and the Negev has been their emergency contingency evacuation area since 1948. PROPHECY UPDATE NUMBER 10

In our last prophecy update we discussed how the usage of a vast underground water supply in the Negev was producing a large variety of foodstuffs across its surface. However, when one-third of the population of Israel is pushed into the Negev by the Antichrist in the middle of the Tribulation Period, the initial food supply and production will only be sufficient for a few months initially, and it

will take a year to bring it to adequate levels for such a rise in numbers. So, for a few months, additional food will be provided by the “they” found in verse 6 of the 12th chapter of Revelation: “And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that THEY should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.” The answer, as to who the “they” represents, is to be found in the preceding verse 5, where the word “NATIONS” acts as the precedent to the word “THEY” in verse 6: “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all NATIONS with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God,

and to his throne.

” (Revelation 12:5). Remember, in the initial attack of the Antichrist from Syria, all the nations of the world are not involved. All the nations of the world do not become involved until some three years later at the final battle identified as Armageddon.

So the “they” in verse 6 refers to nations from the free world.

Revelation 12:5,6 – And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all NATIONS with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

[6] And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that THEY should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

The United States, England, Canada, and Australia, will airlift food, clothing, and shelters to Israel in the Negev during this critical period of shortages.

The Antichrist, since he has previously overrun the fertile and industrial heartland of Israel, will seek to gain world approval of his actions by appearing, at this point, to be a merciful conqueror, and will not contest this airlifting of foodstuffs to the Negev. In fact, his aircraft will be under orders not to fire on any foreign aircraft for fear of getting involved in a war with the western powers. As I informed you in previous prophecy updates, the Antichrist will be well aware of the defenses in the Negev, and will have no desire to penetrate any further south than Beersheva. But at the end of the Tribulation Period, he will send out a call to the European mainland, all the nations once under the Soviet Union, Russia, and all the countries of Asia and Africa, and many will come to this final great battle: “And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.” (Revelation 16:16).

Syria defiant on Lebanon

Emboldened by its alliance with Iran, Syria has put its interests in Lebanon above the prestige of hosting an Arab summit that will open on Saturday with the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Egypt conspicuously absent.

President Bashar al-Assad has dismissed demands to push Syria’s Lebanese allies to abandon their quest for a larger share of power in Beirut, prompting the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Egypt, both US allies, to stay away from the summit.

Their absence is intended to embarrass Damascus, the target of revived Western pressure in recent weeks.

Saudi Arabia and the United States accuse Syria of prolonging the crisis between the Western-backed Beirut government and pro-Syrian opposition that has kept Lebanon without a president since November.

Saudi Arabia opted to send only a junior official to the summit after mediation efforts with Syria over Lebanon failed.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal urged tough action against Syria during a tour of the United States and Europe in February, days after he made a secret visit to Damascus that failed to produce an agreement, diplomats said.

Egypt will be represented by a junior minister at the March 29-30 meeting. Lebanon will boycott the summit altogether.

Syria supports demands by the Hezbollah-led opposition for veto power in the cabinet. One Syrian source said Damascus was being asked to sell out Hezbollah by accepting formation of a Lebanese government free to “do Israel’s bidding”.

“The list of demands on Syria will not stop at solving the political crisis. There will be the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons and Iran’s influence in Lebanon,” he said.

To Riyadh’s dismay, Syria has been reinforcing its alliance with the Islamic Republic, which also supports Hezbollah, as Iran’s regional influence rose after the US invasion of Iraq.

An Arab politician in touch with Syrian officials said coordination between Syria and Iran remained close despite the assassination of a Hezbollah commander in Damascus in February.

The politician, who asked not to be identified, said Syria believed the Lebanon crisis could drag on until November’s US presidenti al election or beyond, c

arrying with it the risk of a new Israeli-Hezbollah war, which could this time involve Syria.

Battleground

Lebanon has been a battleground for Syria in its struggle with Israel for decades. Syria was forced to withdraw its troops from Lebanon in 2005 under

international pressure following the assassination of Lebanese former Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri.

A deal between France and Syria for a solution in Lebanon collapsed in mutual acrimony at the end of last year.

Syria’s isolation, which had been eroding, has deepened again. Washington has expanded sanctions on Syria this year and deployed warships off Lebanon, partly to show impatience with Damascus.

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana this month called for greater pressure on Syria. He said it was using proxies in Lebanon to prevent the election of army chief General Michel Suleiman as president, while the parliamentary majority was shrinking as lawmakers were assassinated.

Syrian officials deny playing a blocking role. They said Syria supported Suleiman as consensus candidate and worked through Hezbollah to convince opposition leader Michel Aoun – no ally of Syria – to forgo his own candidacy.

Syrian political commentator Ibrahim al-Daraji said even if Syria accepted Saudi and US demands, it could not force Hezbollah to accept political solutions it did not want.

A diplomat in Damascus said Syria’s focus on its perceived interests in Lebanon could cost it dear.

“The Syrians are paying a huge price for a single-minded policy,” the diplomat said. “They have lost goodwill in the West, went out of their way to pick a fight with Saudi Arabia and locked themselves into a strategic framework with Iran.”
