In Archive Prophecy Update 7, issued in February 2001, I indicated I was confident the prophesied last days attack against Israel by 10 Arab nations would not occur prior to 2003, but I did believe it was likely to

occur before 2012.

Operation Iraqi Freedom began on March 20, 2003, when the United States led a coalition of allies in the invasion of Iraq. I did not expect the occupation to last more than four years, because I did not believe it was possible to establish a lasting democratic government in a country made up of Sunni, Shiite, and Kurd ethnic groups, as well as numerous other types of tribes and cultures. I stated this from the very beginning of the occupation of Iraq.

I expected the American led allied coalition to stay only until they killed or captured Saddam Hussein, which I thought would be accomplished before 2006. I thought the troops would then be withdrawn from Iraq between 2006 and 2008. This was the number one factor in my guesstimate of the initial attack against Israel occurring in the time frame from 2008 to the end of 2012, following the withdrawal of American troops. But recent developments in the political scenario of the U.S. have now led me to see my time frame was premature.

I had my first contact with Iranian military personnel at an IHL during 1957, which was the time of good relations between the Shah of Iran and the U.S. Six years later the U.S. and Iran signed an official civil nuclear agreement as part of the U.S. Atoms for Peace Program.

In fact we gave them what they needed for fuel in a research reactor.

I have been watching the development of the Iranian Shihab Missile Systems since the l ast century, and their progress in developing a number of nuclear weapon which could be mounted on it

as a warhead. I now recognize 2008 is too early for such a development.

After thinking I had heard flip-flops by political candidates that could never be outdone, I got the shock of my life as I listened to the three leading democratic candidates, Clinton, Obama, and Edwards plainly state they were likely to leave American troops in Iraq during the length of their political terms, if elected.

Senator Clinton gave the impression she would initially keep the troop levels reasonably high during the first two years of her administration, but would “try” to have them all out by the end of her term in 2013.

The opinions of Obama and Edwards are of no importance to me, as I am convinced they have as much chance of winning the Democratic nomination for President as ‘Jethro Bo-dean’.

So where does that leave us from now to 2013

? I know if a Republican candidate wins, the troops will stay for quite a while, and now it appears if Hillary wins, they will also stay for quite a while. Since I don’t believe a major Middle East war will break out as long as American troops, in significant numbers, continue to lie on the eastern border of Syria and the western border

of Iran, this makes me believe my guesstimate of a major Middle East war, which I guessed for several years as having the best chance of occurring between 2008 and the end of 2012, is going to be premature. Also, based on intelligence reports over the last couple of years, I seriously doubt if Iran will be able to have much of an arsenal of deliverable deterrent nuclear warheads before 2010.

So, I am changing my guesstimate of the most likely time for the outbreak of a successful Jihad attack against Israel to occur. Based on the two reasons I have given up to this point, I am now guessing the attack will occur between 2010 and 2014. As I have stated repeatedly for many years – It is a guess, no more and no less.

If major worldwide earthquakes were to suddenly drastically increase to assist in staggering the world’s economy, American troops would be brought home very quickly. However, if the economy remains stable, I do not anticipate the beginning of Zechariah 13:8 and Revelation 12:6 prior to 2010.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Dems Discuss Iraq Withdrawal at New Hampshire Debate

The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.

“I think it’s hard to project four years from now,” said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation’s first primary state.

“It is very difficult to know what we’re going to be inheriting,” added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

“I cannot make that commitment,” said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

Sensing an opening, Sen.

Christopher Dodd of Connecticut and New Mexico Gov.

Bill Richardson provided the assurances the others would not.

“I’ll get the job done,” said Dodd, while Richardson said he would make sure the troops were home by the end of his first year in office.

“Israel will pay a hefty price for its aggression in Gaza,” said Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri on Thursday, following IDF activity in the Gaza Strip that left 11 Palestinians dead.

Abu Zuhri said Palestinian organizations would do everything in their power to resist Israeli attacks in the Strip.

Criticizing the Palestinians Authority in Ramallah for not responding to recent incidents in the Strip, Abu Zuhri said, “It is as good

as cooperating with the occupation.

The PA’s silence proves that it is cooperating in order to eliminate Hamas in the Strip.”

The spokesman continued to urge the international community to put an end to the Israeli aggression and said Israel “does not give much importance to the November peace conference”.

Muhammad al Madhoun, head of Ismail Haniyeh’s office also commented on the attack, saying Israeli operations only made the residents of the Strip more determined.

“Palestinians bloodshed by the Nazi military will only make our position stronger,” he said.

On Wednesday former Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh called for an international committee to “restrain Israeli aggression”.

Haniyeh also urged Arab states, especially Saudi Arabia, to condemn the “aggression”, and mentioned that the recent attacks came following Israeli Defense MInsiter Ehud Barak’s statement that Israel was nearing a wide-scale attack in the Strip.

Urging Arab leaders to boycott the international peace conference set for November, Haniyeh said, “The conference’s goal is to ensure support of President Bush’s plan instead of making future achievements.”

Sooner or Later Ehud Barak, acting as a crouching Lion of Judah, will launch some sort of operation in the Gaza Strip which will be effective in limiting the Kassam rocket attacks coming out of the Strip. Article 1, from Arutz Sheva, gives the latest trouble being generated in and out of the Strip, and Article 2, from the Jerusalem Post, is a warning from Barak to the terrorists that a drastic retaliatory operation is coming if their attacks do not diminish.

Rain of Mortar Shells, Rockets on Negev

(IsraelNN.com) Gaza-based terrorists fired four Kassam rockets and some 25 mortar shells at Israeli towns in the western Negev Wednesday morning.

Though ten shells fells short and landed within Hamas-controlled Gaza, others landed near the Kissufim and Erez crossings, and 11 of them fell in the Ein HaShlosha area. Kassam rockets landed near Or HaNer and Mefalsim, in the Sderot area, and near the border fence. No injuries were reported.

One of the shells landed in the water supply of one of the towns – left unnamed for security reasons – and caused damage. Kibbutz Kerem Shalom reports that hundreds of mortar shells have landed in and around the kibbutz in recent weeks.

7 Megawatt Hours Per Rocket

A military committee set up by Defense Minister Ehud Barak recommends, among other things, that Israel reduce the electricity it supplies to Gaza by seven megawatt-hours following every Kassam rocket attack. The recommendation follows the Cabinet decision of last week defining Hamas-run Gaza as a “hostile entity.”

Other committee-recommended means of retaliation for rocket attacks include stopping the supply of mazut (a type of diesel fuel used to produce electricity), and – in the event of

a rocket attack on a border crossing – closing the crossing for 48 hours.

IAF aircraft attacked a group of north Gazan terrorists Wednesday morning as they prepared to launch a rocket in the area

of Beit Hanoun. Two terrorists were reported wounded in the attack.

Christians Under Attack in Gaza

The 2,500 remaining Christians in Gaza have been under attack of late. An 80-year-old Christian woman was recently robbed by a man demanding, “Where is the money, heretic?” Her family members said the “robber would never have dared to attack a Moslem woman that way.” The attack followed a brutal break-in of a Christian church and school several weeks ago.

Stocking-clad men hurling grenades blew open the entrances and stole computers and religious items. They also smashed many crucifixes in the buildings.

Counter-Terror Arrests

Seven wanted terrorists were arrested throughout Judea and Samaria overnight Wednesday. Four of the arrested were made in the Arab village of Atra, north of Ramallah, one in Ramallah itself and another in a small village west of the city. The seventh terrorist, apprehended in Shechem, was

involved in the lynching of two IDF reservists in 2000.

Terrorists targeted in soldiers in Jenin with a bomb, and in Shechem’ s Ein Beit Ilma

slums, where the IDF has been operating for over a week, terrorists opened fire on troops. No injuries were reported in either incident.

On Tuesday, an Arab terrorist attempted to enter the Machpelah Cave (Tomb of the Patriarchs) in Hevron. The man was armed with a large knife and was apprehended by Border Police.

Closure for Holiday

In light of the many terrorist-attack intelligence warnings, IDF officials have announced a closure on Judea and Samaria during the week-long Sukkot holiday, which begins Wednesday night. Arab residents of the area who do not hold Israeli citizenship will not be allowed to enter Israeli towns for the next week.

Spokesmen explained that the closure was meant to reduce the chances of terrorist attacks in major Israeli cities.

Judea and Samaria are often under closure during holidays, when terrorist groups increase their efforts to murder civilians.

As in last week’s closure over Yom Kippur, however, there is a long list of exceptions, including several professions as well as all those employed by the United Nations and non-governmental aid organizations.

Four terror operatives killed in jeep explosion in Gaza City

An explosion went off Wednesday afternoon in a jeep carrying four Gaza terrorists, killing all of them, Hamas said.

The identity of the victims was not immediately known. Hamas initially claimed the dead as members, but later said they might belong to another armed faction.

The jeep was driving in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City at the time of the blast. The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.

Hamas said Israel had targeted the jeep in an air strike. IDF officials said they had no immediate information about Wednesday’s blast.

Earlier Wednesday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that Israel was moving closer to carrying out a large-scale military operation in Gaza in order to put a stop to cross-border rocket and mortar barrages into Israel.

It was his first public hint of plans to combat the fire coming from the Hamas-ruled coastal strip, which Israel last week declared “hostile territory” as a prelude to possible punitive cuts of utilities.

Barak told Army Radio that a large-scale military operation would not be a simple undertaking.

“We are moving closer to a broad and complex operation in Gaza,” Barak said.

“It (such an operation) hasn’t happened in recent weeks for many reasons …. We’re getting closer to this and it should be realized that such an operation is not simple, not from the point of view of the forces taking part, not from the aspect of the length of time we’ll have to spend there and not from the aspect of the operational challenges the forces will meet.”

Meanwhile, IDF tanks and bulldozers, escorted by attack helicopters, moved into the northern Gaza Strip, staking out open ground from where Palestinians had earlier fired rockets into neighboring Israel, witnesses said.

The military had no immediate comment.

Residents of the town of Beit Hanun said about 20 armored vehicles were involved in the operation. The Islamic Jihad said it fired 10 rockets at Israel Wednesday.

Israel confirmed that nine rockets were fired into the western Negev throughout the day – most of which landed in open areas in Sderot. The army said no casualties were reported from the rocket fire.

The IAF fired at Palestinians responsible for launching Kassam rockets into Israel from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning.

The army said that no one was wounded in the strikes but that two rocket launchers were destroyed.

The army said Palestinians also lobbed at least 20 mortar shells into Israel from the southern part of the strip, but no casualties were reported. The Popular Resistance Committees claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier, the IDF announced an open-ended closure on the West Bank and Gaza Strip Wednesday, ahead of the weeklong holiday of Succot, which begins at sunset.

Succot – The Jewish Feast of Tabernacles – Old & New Testaments

Leviticus 23:39-43 – Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. [40] And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days. [41] And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. [42] Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: [43] That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

The Jewish Feast of Tabernacles (Tents – succa – temporary dwellings) began today and continues into this week. There will be several thousands of Christians having processions during the feast.

During the time of

the earthly ministry of Christ, on the last day of the feast, a special priest would leave the temple mount and proceed southward to the old city of David, under which a spring flowed through the old tunnel of Hezekiah into the Pool of Siloam. Fresh, flowing spring water that flowed throughout the year was looked upon as providing a source of water that provided life year round, as opposed to springs that dried up during the non-rainy season.

So it came to symbolize something that provided eternal life.

The special priest would collect two pints of water in a golden vessel, and then carry it back upon the temple mount.

It would then be carried to the top of the very high altar that stood in the court of the men in front of the steps that led up to the door of the temple’s Holy Place. In the southwestern corner of the altar a small hole had been made that led down under the altar into the subterranean cavern under the temple.

This particular feast is a very joyous one, and as the people waved palm leaves they would cry out to the priest on the southwestern corner, “raise your hand, raise your hand,” to show he had poured the water, finally cheering and shouting for joy when he did. The water would proceed under the temple southeastward in a conduit that emptied into the Kidron Valley for drainage of the blood from the sacrifices. It was a picture of living water, which symbolized the living Spirit of the God of Israel going out from the belly of the temple into the world.

It is very interesting to note the words of Jesus on the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, probably uttered immediately after the priest poured the water.

John 7:2,37-39 – Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand. [37] In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. [38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. [39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

During the time of Christ, the presence of the Spirit of God in the temple’s Holy of Holies was to be proclaimed by Israel throughout the world. It was a single, local, visible temple. Today there are many local temples that God recognizes individually as His local, visible, temples. And it is from these individual bodies that the power of the Spirit is to go forth throughout the world. The first such church was formed and organized by its head and foundation, Jesus Christ, during His earthly ministry. This church, which already existed as a local church of about 120, was empowered by the Spirit at Pentecost after Jesus was glorified. And, just as the water flowing out of the belly

of the temple into the world was a symbol of the Holy Spirit, so does the same Spirit flow out of churches of the same like faith and order as the one the Holy Spirit empowered at Pentecost.

All believers are indwelt by the living Spirit of God and make up the family of God, and truly their witness of the Spirit is to flow out from within them into the world, but a local church that teaches, preaches, and practices the faith once delivered to the saints is also indwelt by the same Spirit in a special way, and its testimony that goes out into the world is to proclaim the truths of all the Word written by the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:22 – In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

John 4:24 – God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Leviticus 23:42,43 – Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: [43] That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Thus was the simplistic broad reason for God’s actions given in Leviticus 23:42. But later Jewish philosophers and rabbis gave some interesting interpretations as to its spiritual purpose for the believer. Some of these interpretations that I like, and agree with allegorically, are as follows.

Philo (Hellenistic Jewish Philosopher who lived in Alexandria during the days of the Apostles) – He says that “setting in the succa is to remind us of how far we have come, and leads us to praise God and thank God for all the kindness he has bestowed upon us.” This would blend well with the two following verses of Scripture involving sitting in a local New Testament church body and worshipping God.

Hebrews 2:12 – Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

Ephesians 5:19,20 – Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; [20] Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

The Rashbam, one of Rashi’s famous grandson, lived in France in the 12th century, in his commentary on Leviticus 23:43, gives another reason for setting in the succa. He says: “The succa is a lesson in humility; it comes to prevent a swelled head. God commanded us to sit in the succa precisely in the season of the harvest when we are congratulating ourselves for our efforts in the successful harvest and our fancy homes. The humble succa reminds us that everything you eat and everything you own comes from God.” This invokes the principles found in the following New Testament Scriptures.

Galatians 6:3 – For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

James 4:13-16 – Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: [14] Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. [15] For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. [16] But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Matthew 6:33,34 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Rabbi Yizhak Aboab lived in Spain in the 15th century. In his writings, concerning sitting in the succa, he says: “The main point of living in the succa for seven days is to increase our faith in God. When we live in a sturdy house, we are protected from the elements; rain and cold and heat do not harm us. As a result we have faith in our homes, not in God. Likewise, we tend to place all our trust in men, especially influential rulers and leaders. By living in a flimsy succa for seven days, exposed once again to the elements, we realize that ultimately we must put our trust in God, who rules over our houses, the elements, and all human rulers.” This reminds me of the ideals expressed in the Psalms and the New Testament.

Psalm 2:10-12 – Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. [11] Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. [12] Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Hebrews 13:5-6 – Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

[6] So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

I Corinthians 2:2,5 – For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. [5] That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch, in his 19th century book Horeb, says: “the succa is a symbol of universal peace and brotherhood, as we recite in the evening service on Shabbat and festivals – Spread over us your succa of peace.” This reminds me of the great 1000 year umbrella of peace that Messiah will bring following

the final battle of Armageddon, as detailed in Revelation, Zechariah, and Malachi.

And so it will be on this earth during Messiah’s millennial reign as King of kings following the tribulation period.

Revelation 20:6 – Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Zechariah 14:9,11,16 – And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name

one. [11] And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. [16] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used his speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday to unveil a vision of a world without Israel, in which America and Europe would be freed

of what he said was Zionist oppression.

Culminating a concerted assault on what he described as the injustices and oppressions practiced by the “big powers” since World War II, he said that the ungodly era of lewdness and violence was coming to a close and that “the age of monotheism has commenced.”

The world was “nearing the sunset of the time of empires,” he said, and urged the dominant world powers to eschew their “obedience to Satan” and “submit to the will of god.” If they did so, “they will be saved.” If not, “calamities will befall them.”

But whether or not these powers chose to reform themselves, he said, the day was fast approaching when ” occupied lands will be freed.

The god known by President Ahmadinejad will not be keeping any earthly or heavenly promises to the Islamic worshippers

of Allah.
