I have long continued to proclaim my belief that Iran would not risk an attack against Israel until deliverable nuclear bombs were a functioning real ity

in its weapons inventory. I do not expect Iran to use its nuclear bombs except as a deterrent to keep Israel from using its own weapons of mass destruction. A second belief I have constantly proclaimed is the unlikelihood that Syria or Iran will attack Israel while American troops remain on their long borders with Iraq.

To summarize, I do not expect a major Middle East

war to break out between Israel and her neighbors until American troops are out of Iraq and Iran has a deliverable nuclear weapon.

It has been primarily these two reasons which led me to the guesstimate that Israel would experience the initial attack that triggered the great tribulation period at some point in time after 2007, but before the end of 2012.

ABU DHABI — The Bush administration has hinted through diplomatic channels that the United States will leave Iraq and most of the Gulf region

by 2009.

Middle East diplomatic sources said U.S. envoys have repeatedly signaled that Washington plans to withdraw from Iraq and most of the Gulf region.

Several U.S. envoys advised Gulf Cooperation Council and other states to prepare for this eventuality, they said.

“No such words were spoken, but Arab and Israeli leaders have understood that within two years, the United States will no longer be in Iraq or in the Middle East,” one diplomatic source said.

The administration´s strongest message of a U.S. military withdrawal took place during the Middle East tour by Defense Secretary Robert Gates in April. Gates visited Egypt, Israel and Saudi Arabia and discussed arms sales with all three countries.

In Saudi Arabia, the sources said, Gates faced withering criticism from King Abdullah and his aides for U.S. support of the Shi´ite-led government in Iraq. Gates responded that August 2007 would mark the turning point for U.S. policy in the Middle East.

“The message was that if by August, the [Iraqi President Nouri] Al Maliki government fails to take over security, then the war will be considered unwinnable,” a GCC source said. “The conclusion by Arabs and Israelis was that this was the U.S. deadline.”

The sources said the planned U.S. withdrawal marked the basis for the administration´s proposal to supply Saudi Arabia with up to $10 billion in advanced military platforms and weapons. Congress has objected to the sale because of Saudi instability as well as Riyad´s insistence that it will not accept U.S. restrictions on the use of

the systems.

In Israel, Gates also discussed U.S. strategy in Middle East. The sources said Israeli leaders who met with the defense secretary understood that the United States would soon begin a withdrawal from Iraq.

“The underlying message by Gates to the Israelis was different from that to the Arabs,” said an American who monitored the talks.

“The Israelis understood from Gates that

Israel was on its own and therefore must be very careful in how

it responds to threats, including the Iranian threat.

The feeling was that if there was another war, Israel should not expect another U.S. airlift.”

‘Hizbullah amassing long-range missiles’

Hizbullah is rearming with long-range missiles, in violation of the cease-fire agreement that ended the Second Lebanon War, Transportation Minister and former IDF chief of staff Shaul Mofaz said Thursday morning, a day after the Lebanese army seized a shipment of weapons earmarked for Hizbullah.

The confiscated arms included Grad rockets, machine guns, and ammunition. It was not clear whether the militants were transferring the weapons within the country or bringing the shipment in from neighboring Syria, as they have reportedly done in the past.

On Wednesday, Mofaz met with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met on Wednesday to discuss security issues in the Middle East.

While talks focused largely on Iran, the officials also discussed a possible Israeli peace initiative towards Syria.

“Iran continues a military nuclear program,” said Mofaz after the meeting.

“I believe diplomatic efforts should bear results by the end of

2007.”

The minister also requested that the US increase its involvement in retrieving kidnapped IDF soldiers Gilad Schalit, Ehud Goldwasser, and Eldad Regev.

“It’s been nearly a year and there is no solution on the horizon,” said Mofaz to reporters in Washington.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said he was not aware of any discussion of a deadline for diplomacy during Rice’s meeting with Mofaz.

Rice’s discussions with Mofaz also touched on the possibility that Israel would re-launch peace efforts with Syria. The United States has frowned on that approach in the past, preferring to focus on peace prospects between Israel and the Palestinians and worried that Syria would use the contact as diplomatic leverage with the United States.

“We’re not going to manage Israeli foreign policy,” McCormack said later, adding that Israel will make its own decisions.

“But let’s take a look at Syria’s behavior over the recent past, and I don’t think you’re going to find many indications of Syria showing the rest of the world that they are interested in playing a constructive, positive role in trying to bring about a more peaceful, secure region.”

Mofaz said Israel is also focused on the Palestinian track, which he called “our first priority.”

Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Israel must probe any possibility of diplomacy with Syria.

“A diplomatic process with Syria could immediately and dramatically change the balance on three fronts [Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinian front],” he told Israel Radio, “so picking up the gauntlet, or exploring any chance for sincere negotiations with Syria is, in my opinion, an option that absolutely must not be neglected.”

‘Syria, Iran, Hizbullah planning war’

Syria, Iran and Hizbullah are preparing for the possibility of a war with Israel on the Syrian front, Channel Two reported on Wednesday night.

Reportedly, Damascus has set August as the month for final war preparations.

The report followed an earlier security cabinet meeting devoted almost exclusively to Syria, during which Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said that Israel is working through various diplomatic channels to assure Damascus that Jerusalem wants peace and is not interested in a war.

His comments come amid a flurry of reports about a Syrian military buildup and concern in the defense establishment that if various Syrian overtures were not well received in Israel, the Syrians might initiate military action to try and retain the Golan, or a piece of it.

“Israel is not interested in a war with Syria, and we have to be careful about a scenario where a miscalculation could lead to a deterioration in the security situation,” Olmert said at the end of the meeting. He added that Israel has sent this message to Damascus through “different diplomatic channels.”

Housing and Construction Minister Meir Sheetrit told reporters after the meeting that Olmert called for direct negotiations with Syria, something that was not reflected in the statement the Prime Minister’s Office issued after the meeting.

“I want to make clear that we have no aggressive intentions at all against Syria,” Sheetrit said. “The prime minister made that clear, and even called for direct peace talks with the Syrians. All the comments about a possible war with Syria are unnecessary, everyone needs to cool down.”

The ministers received various intelligence and security briefings during the meeting, with military intelligence officials saying that the Syrians were on a defensive posture on the Golan.

The ministers also heard estimations that if a war would break out with Damascus, it would include a renewed confrontation with Hizbullah.

The security cabinet, which following the release of the Winograd Committee interim report has re-established weekly meetings, set up a subcommittee to oversee the IDF’s plans for possible military action against Syria.

In addition to Olmert, this committee includes Vice Premier Shimon Peres, Defense Minister Amir Peretz, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, National Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, Industry and Trade Minister Eli Yishai, Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter, Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Justice Minister Daniel Friedman and Pensioners Affairs Minister Rafi Eitan.

Sheetrit came out against the establishment of the committee, saying that it sends the wrong message at this time to the Syrians.

Peretz also took pains to try and damp down tensions in the North, telling Army Radio that Israel had no plans to attack Syria. He said it was necessary for Israel to relay to Damascus that various military exercises under way now were “a matter of course” and did not reflect Israeli plans to attack Syria.

Peretz also reiterated that he was in favor of opening a diplomatic channel with Damascus.

It is the Time of Jacob’s Trouble!

If we did not have a large contingency of American troops in Iraq at the present time, and if there was some possibility of a false peace coming in this summer, I would surely agree with this man’s prediction of Middle East war breaking out on a huge scale this summer or fall, especially since the 20th century found me saying the end of the 40 year period, since 1967, seemed to me to be the most likely time for the final war to begin. He is not alone in his prediction – they have been as numerous as Carter’s Little Liver Pills. However, until sufficient numbers of our troops have been taken out of Iraq, I do not believe an attack will be launched against Israel from the north. My guesstimate for the attack continues to be at some point in time after 2007, but prior to 2013.

The article which follows came from Arutz Sheva. It was written by Cale Hahn on June 5, and published by IsraelNN.com on June 6, 2007. My comments, which appear above, will be completed at the end of the article. This is the best assessment I have read on both the present and future situation concerning Israel.

Yirmiyahu’s statement is a perfect description of the situation in Israel today. And his other statements, which follow Cale Hahn’s article, are equally definitive.

THE WAR’S UPON US!

Yirmiyahu 8:15 – “We hoped for peace, but no good has come. A time of healing, but there was only terror.”

We have come to the end of the road. No more initiatives. No more recycling under different names the same failed formula for Middle East peace. The end of the road is conflagration, not coexistence.

The peace process is dead. The time of wars has begun. Israel has been sufficiently weakened for the Muslim world to once again attempt annihilation of the Jewish state. The facade of Muslim desires for peace is lowered, and behind the curtain looms a violent and murderous religion that brooks no opposition.

Islamic peace is: no god on earth but Allah. Islamic honor may only be restored by the destruction of the Jewish nation.

Hence, their nakba is the “catastrophe” of Israel’s birth.

The Muslim nations are actively preparing for war; to declare there is hope for peace given the mountains of evidence to the contrary is manic delusion. Unfortunately, those who say these things are currently running the country.

This is precisely the reason the Muslims will soon attack. Israel is led by a coalition of political hacks who exhibit colossal incompetence and cinematic buffoonery. They possess no will to fight beyond a staged photo op. They are hollow men, empty shells without convictions and without courage beyond self-preservation.

As Ehud Olmert confessed, “We are tired of fighting, we are tired of being courageous, we are tired of winning, we are tired of defeating our enemies.”

In previous wars, Israel was armed with superior US weapons systems, while the Muslim armies fielded inferior Soviet-bloc material.

Though significantly outnumbered, Israel possessed enough of a qualitative advantage to overcome significant quantitative disparities.

Not so anymore. The Muslim nations are armed with the latest Western weapons platforms and, for the first time, possess not only numerical superiority, but qualitative parity with Israel in many areas. Under the auspices of enlisting Muslim support in participating in its “War on Terror,” the US has armed Israel’s enemies with its latest weapons systems. Examples include Harpoon anti-ship missiles, F-16 fighters, Apache helicopters, Abrams main battle tanks, JDAM bombs, AWACS radar planes and Avenger Air Defense Systems.

Israel has voiced deep alarm to Washington at Muslim weapons parity vis-a-vis the Jewish state, but to no avail. Washington continues arming Israel’s enemies, knowing these systems may soon be employed against the Jewish state.

Along with Western weapons, the Muslim armies possess advanced Russian, Chinese, Irani

an and North Korean rockets. These will target Israel from the Golan to Eilat, employing the successful strategies garnered from the Second Lebanon War. Utilization of chemical, biological or nuclear munitions cannot be ruled out.

The most likely casus belli is an Iranian terror proxy launching attacks against Israel’s borders, forcing Israel to respond in kind. The situation will quickly deteriorate to include rocketing from Syria, Lebanon, Hizbullah, Iran, Gaza and other Palestinian enclaves. These attacks will dwarf the Second Lebanon War in terms of intensity and accuracy.

The Muslim nations will then follow the rocket blitz with conventional forces to rid the Jews from Palestine. Dar-Al-Islaam, at last.

Indeed, this is precisely the reason the US has restrained Israel from responding to the rocket barrages on its southern border. The US is deeply concerned an Israeli invasion of Gaza will trigger a regional war or possibly World War III.

Knock one domino down and it is connected by a tripwire to others, which will blow from Gaza to Afghanistan in a quick succession of cataclysmic explosions.

Islamic war planners deliberately engineered the structure as such.

America is feverishly working to keep this from happening. US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack cautioned, “We’ve urged them [Israel] to consider the consequences of defending themselves.”

But global war is precisely the goal of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It is the prerequisite for the Islamic Messiah (the Mahdi) coming upon the world stage to lead the Islamic ummah (“nation”) to global victory. Ahmadinejad believes he is the one chosen to usher the Mahdi’s coming.

The whole of the Middle East is a mountain of munitions atop a rumbling, ash-belching volcano.

Late summer or fall appears to be the intended point of detonation. When it erupts, it will blow the US from

the Middle East and propel Israel to the brink of destruction.

These are heady days for the ummah. They are drunk on the power their oil wealth brings. They sense a moment of historic tectonic shift is soon to occur, an imminent glorious triumph over the infidel.

Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons and is restoring Islamic honor by standing up to America. Every Muslim nation is undertaking a massive armament campaign, ironically provided in large measure by America. The US fatally misidentified their enemy as terrorism, when in actuality the enemy is Islam, from which terror springs.

The Muslim nations haven’t made the same mistake. They know America’ s veneration of it

s economy, and they intend to bring it down in a ruinous, smoldering heap. They intend to drive the US from the region and shut the oil taps to its markets.

The OPEC oil embargo of the 1970s is returning, only this time it will be utilized to a much greater effect, intended to destroy the US economy.

America should prepare for numerous terror attacks using conventional and non-conventional munitions. A Department of Homeland Security agent said Al-Qaeda has several South American training camps to instruct terrorists in Spanish and the Hispanic culture and infiltrate them across the US-Mexico border as illegal immigrants. He stated there are several thousands of terrorists who have successfully infiltrated the US and who are awaiting orders to strike.

The coming conflagration in the Middle East may be the trigger to activate these cells; almost certainly, should a shooting war develop between America and either Syria or Iran.

Since the Rabin-Arafat handshake fourteen years ago, 2,000 Israelis have been killed, 14,000 wounded and unnumbered hundreds of thousands psychologically scarred. Israel was willing to pay the price for peace. Time and again, Israel gave faith. Time and again, faith was violated. Time and again, Israel hoped. Time and again, Israel was targeted.

Israel will learn its lessons. After the war, all of Jerusalem will be free from Islamic domination.

No area will be off-limits to Jewish worship.

Israel will not fall.

He who keeps her will neither slumber nor sleep. HaShem is faithful to His promises and His people: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalms 46:10-11)

The Prophet Yirmiyahu was one of Israel’s greatest Prophets, and he was quite definitive in his descriptions of the way it was just before the Babylonian captivity, as well as how it would be just before the coming of Messiah. We know him better in our English Bible as Jeremiah.

Ahmadinejad: He acts like

a Koran version of John the Baptist!

I am not saying Iranian President Ahmadinejad is the False Prophet, or that he is John the Baptist.

All that I am saying is that he is assuredly trying to prepare the way for the traditional Shiite version of an Islamic Messiah, the Mahdi.

There is no question that Mohammad’s Koran, and traditional sayings, were written hundreds of years after the completion of both the Old and New Testaments.

Having read the Koran, I can state with certainty that most of the Koran and traditional sayings were based on the Bible, but grotesquely distorted

and theologically twisted to suit the mind of the Prophet Mohammad. Such is the case with

the coming of the Islamic version of the Messiah, the Mahdi.

Most prophetic teachers believe the Antichrist will precede the second coming of Jesus Christ,

and attempt to duplicate, counterfeit, what the Scriptures say the Messiah will do, and the events surrounding his coming. I believe the Islamic Mahdi will be the Antichrist, having taught for 33 years Antichrist would come out of the Arab Middle East before the Second Advent of the true Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Christians have long been taught that their coming Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, was to be proceeded by a Prophet with the characteristics of Elijah, and that he would prepare the way before him.

Christians, in general, believe that John the Baptist was

that Prophet. John the Baptist was the Messenger, and Jesus was the Messenger who fulfilled the Covenant of Genesis 3:15 by the blood of innocent animals pictured in Genesis 3:21. It is the same blood covenant he made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the same covenant he fulfilled w hen

he was cut-off (crucified) as prophesied in Daniel 9:27, and as actually occurred in John 19:30. The Temple sacrifices and oblations were not accepted by God after Messiah withdrew the covenant from Israel, when they cut him off in the midst of the last seven years of Daniel’s 70th week of years.

Genesis 3:15 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:21 – Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Malachi 3:1 – Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

John the Baptist was the messenger sent by God to prepare the way for Jesus Christ, who was the Lord Messiah, the Messenger of the O.T. Covenant.

Daniel 9:27 – And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. NEW IRANIAN PRESIDENT REMARKS CONCERNING ISRAEL

October 27, 2005

TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) — Iran’s new president has repeated a remark from a former ayatollah that Israel should be “wiped out from the map,” insisting that a new series of attacks will destroy the Jewish state, and lashing out at Muslim countries and leaders that acknowledge Israel.

The remarks by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — reported by Islamic Republic News Agency — coincide with a month-long protest against Israel called “World without Zionism” and with the approach of Jerusalem Day.

World without Zionism is a nationwide event the planners intend to hold annually, and Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a meeting with protesting students at the Interior Ministry.

Ahmadinejad quoted a remark from Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of Iran’s Islamic revolution, who said that Israel “must be wiped out from the map of the world.”

The president then said: “And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism,” according to a quote published by IRNA.

Speaking to Ynet News, Professor Raymond Tanter, one of the authors of the forthcoming book What Makes Iran Tick, which explores the Shiite Islamist ideology of Iran, said there was no questioning the belief of Iran’s leaders in the coming of the Mahdi.

Tanter, President of the Washington-based Iran Policy Committee, said: “The Iranian leadership, particularly Ahmadinejad, welcome the apocalyptic vision of the return of the hidden Imam….After a period of great destruction, once the forces of evil are defeated, the so-called twelfth Imam is supposed to reign over a period of great prosperity.”

“When Ahmadinejad was mayor of Tehran, he set up an urban renewal program that would make it easier to facilitate the Mahdi’s return. He created passageways and roadways that would allow the Mahdi to return triumphantly.”

“Ahmadinejad was called the man of a thousand bullets.

Because he would give the last bullet for someone who has been tortured, and primarily executed by firing squad. Ahmadinejad’s role was to put the last bullet in, in case the person was still squirming,” Tanter said.

“No conceivable positive or negative incentives will influence the leadership of the clerics and the Revolutionary Guards from acquiring nuclear weapons. They need nuclear weapons in order to facilitate the ideological precepts of the return of the Mahdi.”

SOME THINGS ARE INEVITABLE!

While I do indeed admit my guesstimate that the final Middle East war is likely to begin at some point in time after 2007 ends, but before 2013 begins, is a

guess based on events over the last 33 years,

the present state of affairs, and the prophetic Scriptures concerning the great tribulation period, but I will never admit that it is not drawing near.

The attack is drawing near, and while it could occur before 2008 or after 2013 begins, I am saying it is not a far distant event.

The one word that Jesus used repeatedly concerning his return was “WATCH!” His words in Mark 13:32-37 are the words I have tried to follow for the last 40 years.

Mark 13:32-37 – But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

[33] Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

[34] For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. [35] Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: [36] Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. [37] And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

I cannot tell you the hour,

the day, the week, the month, the times or the seasons! The “times” refers to the phases of the moon, particularly as it relates to the new moon or change from one month to the next, while the “seasons” refers to the four basic seasons of the year. However, the expression “Watch,” expresses a state of not being shocked when he suddenly appears. We should not awaken some morning to be in shock if we were robbed while we slept in a crime infested neighborhood.

I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Acts 1:6-8 – When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? [7] And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. [8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and

in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

A large part of verse 8 directly implies that a huge part of “watch,” is our being about the Master’s business of spreading his word when he does finally come, and that our lives show we are the products of his business, as defined in his word by his spiritual workmanship in us.

Ephesians 2:8-10 – For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Revelation 22:11,12 – He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. [12] And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

IDF: Hizbullah Is Rebuilding South of Litani River

The head of the research division of IDF Military Intelligence, Brig.-Gen. Yossi Baidatz, told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Monday that Hizbullah is rebuilding its forces south of the Litani River in Lebanon, despite the presence of international peacekeepers in the area.

“Hizbullah continues to rehabilitate, from a military and a social perspective.

It is acquiring a large number of weapons from Iran and Syria,” Baidatz said. (Ha’aretz)
