a Syrian military border build-up and Hizbullah’s declaration it is ready for war, Israel has no plans to attack, but stands ready to ward off a surprise Syrian-Hizbullah strike.

I do not expect a strike by Syria without Hizbullah, as long as American troops are in Iraq on Syria’s eastern border. And I do not expect a pre-emptive attack by Israel as long as she is in such a political upheaval. So I hold to my guesstimate of a war beginning at some point in time before 2013, but after 2007 and whenever American troops withdraw from Iraq.

‘Hizbullah is ready for another war against Israel’

“Hizbullah has rebuilt its itself and is prepared for another Israeli strike,” Naim Kassem, the deputy secretary general of the Iranian-backed terror organization told Al Jazeera TV on Saturday.

“We have completed the groundwork necessary and we have new battle plans,” Kassem added.

Kassem said that Hizbullah was not expecting another round of fighting against Israel but that the organization

was preparing itself nevertheless.

Kassem also denied that his organization paid off or received intelligence reports from former MK Azmi Bishara during the Second Lebanon War. He said that Israeli government was trying to divert attention from its own failures in the war, by placing blame on Bishara.

A high ranking Lebanese official said that Hizbullah has been rearming itself at an accelerated pace.

“All that Hizbullah had achieved in six years, since Israel withdrew from Southern Lebanon, it has now managed to gain in only six months,” the official was quoted by Army Radio as saying, adding that “Hizbullah renewed its rocket arsenal and built new concrete bunkers north of the Litany River and in the Eastern border of Lebanon.”

UN resolution 1701, passed at the end of fighting last August, called on Hizbullah to completely cease rearming.

IDF reserve soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, whose unconditional release was also demanded by resolution 1701, are still held by Hizbullah.

We are in a Religious Freedom War versus Sharia Law Bondage!

Unfortunately, most citizens of what is referred to as “The West,” are not aware of the seriousness of the war in which we are now involved, and believe it will eventually, like all previous wars, simply fade away, or remain eternally confined to the Middle East.

It cannot, and it will not, follow either one of these options. It must eventually culminate in the battle of Armageddon in Israel some three and one-half years after she is attacked by a coalition of 10 Islamic nations. If that were not the case, Islam would not rest until all the nations on the surface of planet earth were under Sharia Law.

In Imami-Shi’i law, the sources of law (usul al-fiqh) are the Qur’an, anecdotes of Muhammad’s practices and those of the 12 Imams, and the intellect (aql). The practices called Sharia today, however, also have roots in local customs (Al-urf).

The recent harsh criticism of the President of Iran for kissing the gloved hand of his old teacher was an example of Sharia Law. The first article from the Jerusalem Center for Public Information Daily Alert, which follows, discusses the objections of the Iranian Foreign Minister to a revealing red dress worn by a woman at the conference, and is typical of the reactions of a follower of Sharia Law.

Iranian Minister Avoids Dinner with Secretary of State Rice

Iran’s foreign minister abruptly left a dinner where he was to sit opposite U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, complaining that a red dress worn by an entertainer was too revealing, a U.S. official said on Friday.

Expectations had been high that Rice might use a dinner held on the sidelines of an Iraq conference in Egypt on Thursday to get to know Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, but instead the foreign minister left as guests were being seated.

“I am not sure which woman he was afraid of, the woman in the red dress or the secretary of state,” said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack. (Reuters)

WASHINGTON: Syria is arming intensively, warned Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh, Thursday.

Nonetheless, he praised a recent meeting between US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Syrian Foreign Secretary Walid Moallem at a conference in Egypt.

Sneh, speaking at the American Jewish Committee conference in Washington, said it was good news that Syria is choosing to play a central role in the politics of the Middle East.

Sneh also spoke of Iran as a catalyst for change in the Middle East, positing that the threat of a strengthen Iranian regime could push moderate Arab nations into a coalition with Israel.

He cited a so-called Arab Quartet, made up of Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and spoke optimistically about the Arab Summit peace initiative as a positive gesture that indicates a changing environment.

However, the deputy defense minister also told conference participants that the Middle East had become a dangerous place to live.

Iran is closer than ever to getting nuclear weapons and Syria is arming intensely, buying weapons from Russia at an unprecedented rate, he said.

Hamas is growing stronger within the Palestinian Authority, and threatening negotiations and potential agreements between Israel and the PA, he added.

(IsraelNN.com) Israel’s Ambassador in Washington says Syria is developing its most serious threat against Israel since it attacked Israel in the Yom Kippur War of 1973.

“We see Syria developing a very serious threat on the northern border,” Ambassador Sallai Meridor told journalists in Washington on Wednesday. He said the threat is manifest in military activity, training, great investments in military equipment – and the build-up of a large arsenal of Scud missiles.

“In the past,” Meridor said, “the assumption was that the Syrians’ tanks and air force were not among the most advanced.

Now, however, we are concerned that they might think that with a large arsenal of rockets that can reach everywhere in Israel, they have the capacity… to threaten us.”

The last time Israel’s north-eastern neighbor threatened Israel so fiercely build-up was the 1973 Yom Kippur War. That war was set off when Syria and Egypt simultaneously attacked Israel on the holiest day of the Jewish year.

“We hope they do not have offensive intentions,” Meridor said, “but we cannot be sure.” The ambassador said that Israel is attempting to pass “calming messages” to Syria, but that Syria continues to “thwart attempts to create attempts to create an atmosphere that will promote peace.”

Syria has demanded for 40 years that Israel relinquish control over the Golan Heights – the mountainous area from which Syria often launched attacks against Israeli communities below until Israel captured the Golan in the 1967 Six Day War.

Long one of Israel’s most implacable enemies, Syria continues to provide assistance, money and training to Hamas, Hizbullah, and other terrorist groups.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Faced with the biggest military buildup by Syria along its border since the 1973 Middle East war, Israel is privately reassuring its Arab neighbor that it does not seek a confrontation, Israeli Ambassador Sallai Meridor said Wednesday.

“We use every effort to send messages to Syria we have no offensive intention,” Meridor said.

Mostly steering clear of the political turmoil at home, which he said was not appropriate for him to discuss publicly, Meridor nonetheless said Israel would continue “to do everything humanly possible to enhance peace” opportunities with the Palestinians.

“We are trying to create opportunities for the Palestinians to make peace,” he said.

Offering to evacuate thousands of Jewish settlers on the West Bank and make other concessions, Meridor said: “I do not know a country in the world which would risk as much” for peace.

“We are not going to give up the slightest opportunity to move forward,” Meridor said at a luncheon sponsored by The Israel Project, a private group. However, he gave no indication Israel would alter its policy of not dealing with Hamas, which plays a dominant role in the Palestinian government and is considered a terror group by the United States and Israel.

At home, Israel’s foreign minister, Tzipi Livni, called on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to step down and said she would seek to replace him after a harsh report criticizing his handling of the war last summer with Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.

Meridor said he had not briefed Bush administration officials or had any meetings with them about

the political situation. And he declined to discuss it.

But the ambassador dwelled on what he called a major buildup of Syrian missiles that could reach any part of Israel “and create major damage” and a “preparedness” along the border “that we have not seen since 1973.”

Meridor said Russia was contributing to Syria’s arsenal by providing the country with missiles.

Syria lost the strategic Golan Heights to Israel in the 1967 Mideast war and failed to recover the territory in a war in 1973 in which Egypt and Syria fought against Israel again.

Israel annexed the territory in 1981 and about 8,000 Israelis live there.

U.S.-assisted negotiations with Israel and Syria have failed to resolve the dispute on a land-for-peace basis. The most recent peace conference broke down in 2000.

Iraq Conference MIGHT eventually Achieve a Common Goal!

Why do I, the great pessimist, believe that something good might, repeat

might, come out of this meeting of diplomats in Iraq? It is certainly not based on their compatibility.

They possess the general traits of tigers, wildcats, cobras, razorbacks, wolverines, alligators, Tasmanian Devils, and lions.

If they were all suddenly thrown together in a gigantic closed cage, without each one having its own huge piece of red meat anchored to the floor at intervals of 20 feet separation, then fur, scales, and blood would immediate fill the air. But if the spaced meat was there, spaced at 20 feet intervals, they would have a temporary common goal – to devour and protect their large piece of meat. The conference has a thin chance of producing a temporary benefit, if there is at least one common goal for all of them.

The only reason it might succeed is that for the first time they all have a common goal!

The Iranians, Iraqis, Americans, Syrians, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and anyone else I left out, all want the same thing as the numerous terrorist groups involved, namely, ALL OF THE FOREIGN TROOPS OUT OF IRAQ.

The Democrats want them out “yesterday” to continue to control Congress and get a President of their choosing. Republicans and Iraq want them out day after tomorrow.

All the rest want them out today. If Iran and Syria could get an agreement with al Qaeda and the other terrorist groups to stop their activities at a certain time frame to allow an orderly withdrawal, void of attacks as foreign troops pull out, then I believe that would be an agreement beneficial to all concerned.

I know there will be ch aos

as the last troops are pulling out of Kuwait, and that there will be a free-for-all between the Kurds, Turks, Sunnis.

Shiites, and numerous other sects within the country toward the end of our pullout, which will turn into a bloodbath, but that will happen no matter when we pull out. I would much prefer to see non-American blood shed.

US, Syria hold ground-breaking talks on Iraq

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt – US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice held an unprecedented meeting with her Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem on Thursday on the sidelines of a conference on Iraq.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit escorted Muallem into a room where Rice was waiting and then withdrew shortly afterwards, an AFP journalist reported.

The two diplomats, who were attending meetings on Iraqi stability at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, discussed security issues in Iraq.

“I would say it was professional, businesslike.

It was very concrete… I didn’t lecture him, he didn’t lecture me,” Rice told reporters after the half-hour meeting.

Washington accuses Damascus of letting anti-US insurgents cross from Syria to Iraq, and of supporting terrorist groups in Lebanon and in the Palestinian territories.

“Syrians clearly say that they believe that stability in Iraq is in their interest. Acts will speak louder than words, and I think we will have to see how this develops,” Rice said.

“This is not a favour to the US, it is an opportunity to help stabilise Iraq and therefore serve the neighbourhood,” she said.
The US administration has been under intense pressure to engage directly with Syria and Iran, in order to help stabilise Iraq and end the costly US occupation.

“I made clear that we don’t want to have a difficult relationship with Syria, but there needs to be some basis for a better relationship,” Rice said.

Muallem called the meeting “frank and constructive.”

“We discussed the situation in Iraq and how to achieve stability and security in Iraq and also bilateral relations,” he told reporters.

“We agreed that this issue about Iraq, we will follow up on it. We will follow up about all security issues,” Muallem said in English.

The last high-ranking US administration official to meet Syrian officials was then deputy secretary of state Richard Armitage, in Damascus in January 2005.

Rice also had a brief exchange with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki over lunch on Thursday and may yet hold further talks with him before the conference ends.

“There was an exchange of some words, yes. They are civilised people after all,” said Abul Gheit, adding that the lunch was attended only by foreign ministers.

When asked if Rice and Mottaki sat next to each other, he answered: “Beside each other you mean? No, but the table was a small table.”

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack confirmed the brief exchange but added that it did not go beyond basic civilities: “They said hello.”

Speculation has mounted in recent days over possible talks between Rice and Mottaki, in what would be the highest-level bilateral discussions between the two countries since they broke off ties in 1980.

Despite Thursday’s brief encounter being void of political substance, it was believed to reflect a new willingness on the part of both Washington and Tehran to engage in some form of dialogue.

Iranian officials remained vague about the possibility of more talks, however.

“It is not anticipated — allow events to take their natural course,” Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told the Al-Aalam satellite channel.

The current contacts mark a shift in US policy towards old foes Syria and Iran, which Washington has repeatedly accused of funding and abetting Iraq’s Sunni Arab insurgency and hardline Shiite militias.

Both countries are seen as crucial in efforts to improve security in Iraq, and will attend a planned meeting of Iraq’s neighbours on Friday.

The US military’s chief spokesman in Baghdad said on Thursday that Syria seems to have taken measures to stem the flow of foreign extremist fighters crossing its border into Iraq.

“There is some movement from the Syrians. There has in fact been a reduction in the amount of foreign fighter flow making its way into Iraq at this point from Syria,” Major General William Caldwell told reporters.

Caldwell said he did not know why Syria appeared to be changing its stance.

One Purpose of the Islamic Revolution in 1979!

A horrible transgression of the Islamic Law has just been perpetrated by the President of Iran involving his old Schoolmaster.

The purpose of the Mosaic Law in the Torah, according to Paul in the New Testament, is clearly stated in Galatians and, oddly enough, has to do with a schoolmaster as a great teacher.

The Orthodox, Reform, and Conservative Jews believe it must be kept to the Letter to go to Heaven, which is impossible. Only Messiah did that in the time of his ministry on this planet. He did it for all who put their faith totally in him to save them from

their inability to keep it to the letter, and circumcision was a part of it.

One of the great tenants of the Islamic Revolution of 1979 was to reestablish the strict enforcement of Islamic Law in a Persian nation that had gone secular in many of its practices.

I try daily to keep the commandments of God, but not to be saved by the grace of God, but rather because I am saved by the grace of God.

Iranian President in hot water after kissing teacher’s hand

Bethlehem – Ma’an – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinajad is being slammed by Iranian newspapers and Islamic groups after he kissed his teacher’s hand during a celebration, on the occasion of Iranian teacher’s day.

The Tehran-based “Hezbollah newspaper” considered the Iranian president’s behavior contradictory to Islamic law, “which prohibits the kissing the hand of any lady, if she is not one of the man’s family members, and to whom he can not get married.”

The newspaper went as far as saying, “the Iranian people have never witnessed such a violation of the Islamic rules since the Islamic revolution in 1979, and such inappropriate behavior could have very serious influence on the sacred Islamic principles and values.”

It is noteworthy that, when the Iranian president kissed his teacher’s hand, she was wearing gloves, and so there was no contact with her flesh.

I wonder if they have to wear gloves when they lop off the head of a man or woman they kidnap. Perhaps because their hands only touch the sword makes it acceptable.
