WHAT IS THE SUREST SIGN OF THE COMING OF MESSIAH IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

Are earthquakes, famines, and pestilences, the surest sign that the coming of Messiah is very near? NO – WHAT FOLLOWS IS!

When mankind begins to believe what they did just before the flood, and at Sodom and Gomorrah, is acceptable as a human practice – THAT IS THE SUREST SIGN!

Luke 17:26-30 – And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. [27] They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. [28] Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; [29] But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. [30] Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Mankind was going on with the everyday practices of life, but they had perverted the morality God created in them to reproduce as he directed. What they did is clearly described in graphic terms in Romans 1:24-32, and what God did to them when they reached the pits of immorality, is laid out in Luke 17:26-30. God is about to do the same thing

to this generation.

BEFORE THE FLOOD AND SODOM & GOMORRAH

Romans 1:24-32 – Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: [25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. [26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: [27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. [28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; [29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, [30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, [31] Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: [32] Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Do you think this generation has reached the immorality pit level of verses 29 to 32 in Romans 1:29-32? I am certain of it. And it lets me know that war is on the immediate horizon in the Middle East, and that we are going to see more and more earthquakes, famines, and pestilence. Why am I so certain it is supposed to be like that, just before the coming of Messiah? Because Paul describes the l ast day generation

as having the same characteristics as the pre-flood and pre-Sodom generations, and indicates their folly will be manifested to all men, as was the case in the flood and Sodom episodes.

Rabbis try to pass pro-gay resolution

A group of Israeli and US Conservative Rabbis will try to pass a resolution next week at the Annual Convention of the Rabbinical Assembly (RA) in Cambridge, Massachusetts that would force Israel’s rabbinic seminary to admit homosexuals.

“Whereas the Rabbinical Assembly has called for full civil rights for Gays and Lesbians,” write the proponents of the resolution, “therefore be it resolved that the RA calls for all of the rabbinical schools the world over that ordain Conservative/Masorti rabbis to admit applicants without regard to sexual orientation.”

Rabbi David Lazar, who has been conducting same-sex commitment ceremonies for over a decade in open disregard for Conservative Judaism’ s official

stance, is one of the rabbis behind the initiative.

“We have the prerequisite 25 signatures we need from RA members,” said Lazar, spiritual leader of the Tiferet Shalom Congregation in Ramat Aviv and founding director of RIKMA, a social activism movement.

“We cannot go on denying peoples’ rights. Most Israelis can’ t afford

to study in America for five years.

Besides, they wouldn’t be getting the training they need to serve Israeli congregations.”

Rabbi Andy Sacks, Director of the Israeli Rabbinical Assembly, who is also a supporter of the resolution, said that the Israeli seminary’s admission policy did not reflect the majority opinion in the movement. But he doubted that the RA’s Resolution Committee would support the initiative.

“The committee agenda is already full.

Besides, I doubt the committee will go out of its way to reopen the homosexual issue.”

Rabbi Einat Ramon, dean of the Masorti/Conservative movement’s Schechter Rabbinical Seminary in Jerusalem, who decided last month against admitting openly homosexual seminary students,

attacked the resolution.

“It challenges the very concept of pluralism,” said Ramon. “There are three legitimate rulings on the issue [of admission policy for homosexuals]. We chose one opinion while other seminaries chose another. We expect our decision to be respected just as we respect the decisions of other seminaries.”

Ramon’s admission policy decision came just days after the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York – the main seminary and flagship institution of Conservative Judaism – said it would start accepting openly gay and lesbian students, after scholars who interpret Jewish law for the movement voted to allow it.

The more liberal University of Judaism in Los Angeles, California had already decided to accept homosexuals to its seminary.

In December 2006 the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards of the Rabbinical Assembly ratified three conflicting halachic opinions. One written by Rabbi Joel Roth upheld the prohibition on gay rabbis that the committee passed overwhelmingly in 1992. Another rebutted the idea that homosexuality was biologically ingrained in every case, and suggested that some gay people could undergo “reparative therapy” to change their sexuality.

The third opinion, authored by Rabbis Elliot Dorff, Daniel Nevins and Avram Reisner, accepted gay rabbis and blessed same-sex unions, as long as the men did not practice sodomy. Israel is not alone in its refusal to accept homosexual rabbinic students.

Rabbi Abraham Skorka, rector of Latin America’s Conservative seminary, the Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano in Buenos Aires, Argentina has publicly announced that his institution would not admit homosexuals, claiming that Latin America’s strong Catholic influence makes the move unrealistic.

Turkey’s majority party picks candidate with Islamic background

ISTANBUL: Turkey’s majority political party chose a prominent leader with an Islamic background Tuesday to compete for the presidency, a move expected to extend the party’s reach for the first time into the heart of Turkey’s secular establishment.

The choice of Abdullah Gul, 56, the affable, English-speaking foreign minister who is Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s closest political ally, is expected to be confirmed by Parliament in several rounds of voting that will begin Friday.

Turkey is a Muslim country, but its government, set up in 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, is strictly secular, and the presidency is its most important office.

The selection of Gul, whose wife wears a head scarf, is not likely to sit well with secular Turks who worry that their lifestyles – drinking alcohol, wearing miniskirts and swimming in coed pools – could eventually be in danger. But it will accommodate an emerging, observant middle class that wants more freedom to practice Islam.
Gul, who has long been his party’s public face abroad, nodded to those concerns in a news conference in Ankara after his nomination, saying, “Our differences are our richness.” His candidacy was a minor concession: The choice most distasteful to the secular establishment would have been Erdogan himself, who deftly bowed out.

Still, if Gul is confirmed, his party would occupy the posts of president, prime minister and parliamentary speaker, a lineup that the opposition party leader, Deniz Baykal, called “unfavorable.” Baykal’ s party later announced that it would boycott the vote.

The military, too, was concerned, issuing a veiled warning that the next president should be a faithful follower of the secular order. The deputy chief of the armed forces, General Ergun Saygun, said, “The next president should be tied to the Turkish republic’s main principles, which were defined in the Constitution – secularism, social state and democracy.”

Still, in a region where religion and government have over all been seen as hostile to modernity, Turkey has blended the two lightly.
The party Gul helped found, known by its Turkish initials, AK, sprang from Turkey’s political Islamic movements of the 1990s, but moderated significantly after gaining power on a national scale in 2002. Since then, it has applied pragmatic policies that helped create an economic boom and opened up the state in ways that the rigid secular elite had never imagined, in part to qualify it for membership in Europe.

“This party has done more for the modernization of Turkey than all the secular parties in the previous years,” said Joost Lagendijk, a member of the European Parliament.

“They were willing to open up the system, to challenge the elite.”

Although the party is publicly adamant about religion’s not entering policy, bristling at shorthand descriptions of it as pro-Islamic, it draws much of its support from Turkey’s religiously conservative heartland. Once on the periphery, these traditional Turks are emerging into mainstream society as a powerful middle class that has driven Turkey’s economic boom. They are also beginning to press Turkey’ s long-governing elite for change.

“These are the new forces, the new social powers,” said Ali Bulac, a columnist for a conservative, mainstream newspaper in Istanbul.
“They are very devout.

They don’t drink. They don’t gamble. They don’t take holidays.”

“They are loaded with a huge energy. This energy has been blocked by the state.”

Zechariah 2:8 – For thus saith the Lord

of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

Unfortunately, in the Islamic mindset, the Jewish blood shed by the sons of its founder Muhammad, will never be enough to satisfy their lust for it. This mindset cannot be changed until Messiah returns to change it, and to enforce it, by his power. Until Messiah returns there can be no true peace on this planet. When Messiah returns his hand will join together the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel by God’s plan, not by man’s efforts. Ephraim, the Northern Kingdom, and Judah, the great Southern Kingdom, must be spiritually rejoined by the Spirit of God in Messiah, not by the spirit of man.

Zechariah 4:6 – Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Zechariah 2:10-13 – Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord. [11] And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

Zechariah 6:12,13 – And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord: [13] Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

Zechariah 14:8,9 – And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. [9] And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

After all these many years, fulfillment of this prophecy is not in the far distant future, but is approaching the doorsteps of humanity. Israel is riding on the wings of God’s appointed destiny for her.

I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Romans 11:32,33 – For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. [33] O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!

how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Romans 11:25,26 – For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Jeremiah 30:7 – Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

Zechariah 13:8,9 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

[9] And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

Malachi 4:1-3 – For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. [2] But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. [3] And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

I rejoice in believing there will not be many more Memorial Days in May for Israel in this Age of the Gentiles in which we now live, but rather days of celebration in the not too distant reign of the eternal returned Messiah.

I believe the following paragraph, from the excellent Haaretz article by Moti Itzik, gives a good outline of this year’s mindset of the “Apple of God’s Eye” on Memorial Day in Israel.

Knesset Speaker and Acting President Dalia Itzik called Thursday on Israel’s enemies to abandon the path of violence and seek the well being of their own societies.

“Our advice to you is replace your Katyushas and Qassams with computers and loving education, the smile of a boy that has a future, and neighborliness,” Itzik said during her speech at the annual torch-lighting ceremony that kicked off Israel’s 59th Independence Day celebrations at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.

Itzik delivered the opening speech and lit the central torch. Israel’s fifth president, Yitzhak Navon, also lit one of the 12 torches.

“We hear the sharpening of swords and voices of war from near and afar. In distant Iran, in nearby Syria, in the Palestinian Authority at out doorstep, there still reside fiery zealots of hate-ridden leaders that believe in their ability to harm the state of Israel,” Itzik said in her speech, adding that “the citizens of Iran, Syria and the Palestinian Authority should think twice about why they are so thirsty for battles and blood. “Isn’t the blood that you have already spilled enough?” she asked.

Israel marks its 59th year of Independence Day with a population of
7,150,000.

When the state was founded in 1948, there were 806,000 residents.

A third of those still live in the country.

Figures published Sunday by the Central Bureau of Statistics indicate that 5,725,000 residents of Israel – 80 percent – are Jewish. Most of the remainder are Arab.

The population has increased 121,000 in the past year. Most of that
increase – 89 percent – reflects natural growth.

Since last Independence Day, 148,000 babies were born here.

About 44 percent of the population

resides in cities of 100,000

inhabitants or more.

In 1948, Tel Aviv was the only city with more than 100,000 residents; it had 248,500 inhab

itants.

Today, Israel has five cities above 200,000 inhabitants: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Rishon Letzion and Ashdod.

These five cities account for 1,810,300 residents, or about a quarter of the population.

Rural localities house 8 percent of the population. The rural population includes 119,700 kibbutz members, less than 2 percent of the overall population. At the founding of the state, kibbutzim housed 6 percent of the population.

A French Ally – Impossible! Do the French have enough Backbone?

I rather suspect al Qaeda will attempt a major terrorist act in France, sufficient in magnitude to steal the May 6 presidential runoff election from the pro-American Sarcozy.

Islamic terrorists were frightening in splintering the national backbone in Spain to successfully steal the presidency from the pro-American party and, as the DEBKAfile article, which follows, does indeed imply, they could well be successful in doing the same thing in France. It would be strange, but wonderful, to find us allied together on the same side of the fence as opposed to our long, long, long time of fighting through the fence with the current French president. The large Muslim population in France has created havoc and fear

in virtually all levels of French society, to the extent of strongly influencing any vote by the native French population that would anger the Islamic terrorists.

Who knows! Maybe the French society has more backbone than I give it credit for – as it has in previous wars.

Maybe an increase in Islamic terrorist activity to scare them away from voting for Sarcozy, will have a reverse affect on them. I hope so – we need them as an ally.

The right-centre contender Nicolas Sarcozy has a better than good chance of winning France’s presidential runoff on May 6, after his 31% vote in the first round topped the 26% gained by his leading rival, the Socialist Segolene Royal.

DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources report: The countdown has begun at the contenders’ campaign headquarters, but also at the secret lair of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the latest manifestation of the vicious Algerian Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat -GSPC. Its heads are plotting to run interference on the poll’s outcome by a major terrorist attack in Paris, possibly coordinated with strikes in several French cities.

French and Spanish security and anti-terror agencies concur on the probability of this scenario and are therefore taking precautions.

The mass-circulation Spanish El Pais reported Monday, April 23, that al Qaeda is deep in preparations for mega-attacks in Spain and France.

Our counter-terror sources confirm the intelligence that the Algerian GSPC is working hard to repeat the “success” of al Qaeda’s 2004 Madrid rail bombings, which left 200 dead and hundreds more maimed – and turned Spain’s elections around. The ruling conservative Popular Party, one of the Bush administration’s foremost allies in Iraq, was consigned to defeat, and the Socialist Workers’ Party, opposite number of Segolene Royal’s Socialists, was elevated to power.

I do not expect a full blown war to suddenly begin in the Middle East until some point in time between 2008 and 2012, but the long range pre-planning for the war is in the works on both sides at the present time.

DEBKAfile Exclusive: A large, high-ranking Syrian delegation of 40 generals on secret mission to Tehran

Gen. Yahya L. Solayman, War Planning chief at the Syrian armed forces General Staff, the delegation represents all branches of the Syrian armed forces. On their arrival on April 18, the Syrian officers

went straight into conference with Iranian defense minister Brig. Gen. Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar, Revolutionary Commanders chief Maj.

Gen. Yahya Rahim-Safavi and dep. chief of staff Maj. Gen. Hassani Sa’di, who is Iran’s chief of military war preparations.

The Syrian visitors were taken around RG and armed forces training installations and given a display of the latest Iranian weapons systems, including stealth missiles, electronic warfare appliances and undersea missiles and torpedoes. They also visited the big Imam Ali training base in N. Tehran, where hundreds of Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian Hamas and Jihad Islami terrorists are taking courses.

In Washington and Jerusalem, there is little doubt that the two allies timed the Syrian delegation’s mission to Tehran as a rejoinder to US defense secretary Robert Gates’ Middle East tour last week.

Israel sees four causes for concern:

1. The unusually large size of the Syrian delegation and the presence of operations officers from the various army corps.

2. The elevated positions of the Iranian officials hosting the Syrians: the top men with responsibility for preparing the RGs and armed forces for armed conflict.
US and Israeli intelligence experts agreed in their talks during Gates’ two-day visit to Israel last week on the object of the Syrian mission: to tighten operational coordination at the highest level between the Syria military and Iran’s armed forces and Revolutionary Guards.

3. The installations and weapons shown the Syrian officers. The intelligence estimate is that they saw the weapons systems soon to be consigned by Iran to the Syrian army and Hizballah, as well as the types of assistance pledged for Syria in the event of a military showdown with the United States or Israel. Syrian-Iranian consultations must also be presumed to have cleared the routes by which these weapons would reach Syria and Hizballah in a military contingency.

During the 2006 Hizballah-Israel war, Iran ran an airlift to Damascus through Turkish airspace and over the Mediterranean.

4. The unusual length of the visit.

Monday, April 23 the Syrian officers were still busy in Tehran after six days and showed no sign of leaving.
