Peretz: Israel supports deployment of multi-national force in Lebanon

Defense Minister Amir Peretz said Sunday that Israel would agree to the deployment of a multi-national force in Lebanon, and suggested that NATO troops be deployed to lead such a force.

“Israel’s goal is to see the Lebanese army deployed along the border with Israel, but we understand that we are talking about a weak army and that in the midterm period Israel will have to accept a multinational force,” he said, according to his office.

Following a morning meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Peretz also said the force should act to prevent the smuggling of weapons from Syria into Lebanon. Peretz also noted Israel has no intention of entering into a war with Syria.

The defense minister said the key to solving the current crisis is the release of the two IDF soldiers kidnapped by Hezbollah on July 12.

Steinmeier was involved in efforts to secure a deal between Israel and Hezbollah in 2004 leading to the return of an Israeli businessman and the bodies of three IDF soldiers kidnapped and killed by Hezbollah in 2000.

The German press reported Friday that an agreement was made with the Russian foreign minister that the two countries intelligence agencies would act to secure a deal in the region.

Peretz also told Steinmeier the 12-day-old offensive in Lebanon would continue as Israel tries to push Hezbollah guerrillas away from the border.

“We are continuing with the operation, and the goal is to create a situation in which we have as broad a space for diplomatic movement as possible,” Peretz said. “The goals we set for ourselves will be achieved.”

The meeting between Steinmeier and Peretz was one of a series of diplomatic meetings here Sunday aimed at ending the offensive in Lebanon.

French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy was also scheduled to meet with government officials and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was headed to the region as well.

Peretz alter told a meeting of the Knes set Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that the defense establishment has not exceeded the boundaries

set by the political level during

the course of the Lebanon campaign.

He also noted that Hezbollah fired has some 2,200 rockets at Israel, about half of which have hit northern Israeli cities and towns.

On Saturday, Peretz instructed the IDF to continue pressuring Hezbollah to weaken its military and especially rocket deployment. This would enable Israel to achieve a better political agreement that would lead to ending the offensive.

IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz said the military needs weeks to achieve the operation’s goals. “We need time.

I don’t want to set a date, but we’re trying to shorten the operation and still achieve our goals,” he said.

Halutz admitted the IDF would not be able to “bring the rocket fire to a complete stop.

There will always be some terrorist to fire a missile.

But I believe we’ll be able to push them north and reduce the accuracy of their fire. The other side must reach the conclusion that the price it pays for continuing the fire is intolerable.”

Speaking about the visits of American and European foreign ministers in the area and their influence on the continuation of the operation, Halutz said: “The foreign ministers do not determine our time limit. The Israeli government does that.”

Peretz approved the mobilization of 4,600 additional reserve soldiers over the weekend. So far the IDF has mobilized about 18,000 soldiers – about half the reserve soldiers called up in Operation Defensive Shield in the territories, in April 2002.

However, a large number of the infantry forces called up are sent to the territories to replace regular forces that are being sent north.

To the IDF’s disappointment, the government rejected the proposal to mobilize an entire division of reserve soldiers to join the fighting in Lebanon.

Northern Command sources said the media reports distort the real situation, in which the IDF has the upper hand in the clashes with Hezbollah. However, initial details of the incident last Friday, in which five IDF soldiers were killed, indicates problems in planning the force’s route.

On the eve of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s visit to Jerusalem, senior officials believe Israel has an American nod to continue operations against Hezbollah at least until next Sunday.

Rice will first explore ways with Israel’s leadership to end the crisis and begin to shape a new order in Lebanon. She will return next Sund ay to try to implement

a cease-fire.

From Jerusalem, Rice will go on to Rome to meet senior delegates from the United Nations and Arab states. They will discuss formulating a political arrangement and a plan to rehabilitate Lebanon.

From Rome she will travel to an Asian conference in Malaysia, from where she will return to Israel.

Rice’s trip has two main goals: an attempt to formulate an agreement to end the fighting in Lebanon and sending a strong international force to enforce Security Council Resolution 1559 calling to disarm Hazbollah and deploy the Lebanese Army along the Israeli border.

The United States will urge Middle East leaders to help boost pressure on Hezbollah as a means of solving the crisis in southern Lebanon, President George W. Bush said on Saturday.

The Bush administration has rejected calls for an immediate cease-fire and Rice said she would focus instead on finding a sustainable end to the violence.

Previewing Rice’s trip in his weekly radio address, Bush said she would “make it clear that resolving the crisis demands confronting the terrorist group that launched the attacks and the nations that support it.”

Bush cited the role of Iran and Syria in providing help to Hezbollah.

“Their actions threaten the entire Middle East and stand in the way of resolving the current crisis and bringing lasting peace to this troubled region,” said Bush, who is spending the weekend at his Crawford ranch.

On Saturday, Bush called Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the humanitarian needs of the Lebanese people and Rice’s trip to the region, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

Bush stood by his stance that Israel had a right to act in its own defense.

The Bush administration has expressed worries the conflict might weaken the fragile government in Lebanon led by Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.

While reiterating his support for the Lebanese government, Bush laid blame for the problems squarely on Hezbollah.

“Hezbollah’s practice of hiding rockets in civilian neighborhoods, and its efforts to undermine the democratically elected government have shown it to be no friend of Lebanon,” he said. “By its actions, Hezbollah has jeopardized Lebanon’s tremendous advances and betrayed the Lebanese people.”

Fatah Claims Hamas willing to accept Deal with Israel

Senior Fatah sources in Gaza said on Saturday Hamas is ready to accept a deal that involves freeing abducted soldier Gilad Shalit, a joint cease-fire and an end to IDF actions in the Gaza Strip.

What is not clear is whether Khaled Meshal, the Hamas leader in Damascus, will sanction the Egyptian-brokered deal.

The initiative, proposed by Egypt and discussed by Palestinian leaders in Gaza in the last few days, consists of freeing Gilad Shalit, a joint cease-fire and the cessation of the IDF’s assassinations in the Gaza Strip and freeing Palestinian prisoners later on.

The deal also includes understandings to set up a national unity government.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas met Hamas parliament members and leaders in Gaza, urging them to accept the deal before American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s arrival this week.

Most Palestinian factions, including the Hamas leadership, agreed to the deal in principle, but argued that Israel is not ready for a cease-fire as long as Shalit is held captive. Fatah’s leadership also rejects a unilateral cease-fire at this stage.

Egypt, meanwhile, is continuing its efforts to persuade Hamas leaders overseas and in Gaza to free Shalit in exchange for Egyptian guarantees to release Palestinian prisoners later on, as part of a comprehensive cease-fire deal.

Dr Salah al-Bardawil, head of the Hamas parliamentary faction, told Haaretz that if Israel stops its actions in Gaza, most streams would accept a cease-fire.

He added, however, Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh already proposed a unilateral cease-fire and Israel rejected it.

Hamas leaders in Gaza are interested in separating the negotiations over the Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit from Hezbollah’s negotiations over Lebanese prisoners. Bardawil stressed that there is no cooperation between Hamas and Hezbollah about the prisoner exchange negotiations.

“We don’t intend to reach a joint deal. Hezbollah entered the picture after Hamas was already in it, they want their prisoners and we have ours,” he said.

It is not clear whether Meshal is also in favor of a separate Hamas deal with Israel.

Fatah sources said that Hamas’ Gaza leadership does not want its name mixed up with the fighting in Lebanon, especially in view of the sharp international criticism of Hezbollah.

Hamas leaders believe Hezbollah has harmed the Palestinian cause by its actions and are striving to reach a separate deal with Israel.

However, Fatah officials are doubtful about the chances of reaching an agreement, due to the unclarity of the position of Hamas’ overseas leadership, headed by Meshal.

Based on many past performances, Middle East situations bubble, then explode, then sputter, then drizzle, then go to a single drip. It will take time to go through this process, but it will happen.

As I have stated for the last ten days, the current situation in the Middle East is not going to explode into a war that terminates in the battle of Armageddon – All the ingredients and elements are not yet in place for that, but they soon will be. Events like these have so many repeat performances in the Middle East they have established a rather predictable pattern, with a common question always being the single focus and most important question of each new repeat performance, namely, “How long will this episode last?”

There is a danger to the precedent pattern of the previous paragraph. A day is coming when a new incident kicks off a repeat performance and, as usual, the world will ask: “Wonder how long it will last this time?” But, on this particular future occasion, it will bubble then explode, and all Hades will break out.

Israel will be shocked when she finds herself driven south into her war contingency evacuation area in the Negev south of Beersheba, a truce will be called, Israel will remain boxed in the Negev for some three and one-half years, then a massive army of millions of men and women will be gathered by the Antichrist to a final battle of Armageddon against Israel.

So, where are we now in the current Middle East mess in Israel? We have passed the “bubble” and entered in the “explode” stage, which will slowly phase into the “sputter” stage. Some sort of a false peace plan stands a chance of being agreed on in the “drizzle” stage, and could be put in place in the “drip” stage. My best guess for the “drip” stage to suddenly “explode” into the last three and one half years of tribulation is at some point in time between 2008 and 2012.

In the Cedar Blue Ridged Mountains of Lebanon, Down the Trail of the Lonesome Pine – A Breaking and a Burning Fire!

In the aftermath of the assassination of former Lebanese President Rafiq al-Hariri, a revolution broke out against Syria.

It is commonly referred to as “The Cedar Revolution” or “Lebanon’s Cedar Spring.” At that time Hassan Nasarallah initiated several large demonstrations expressing support for Syria.

The popular phrase from an old song, “In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Down the Trail of the Lonesome Pine” is, unfortunately, not a tranquil scene we see being played out on the “Blue Line” down across the southern border of Lebanon. The “Blue Line” represents a border, drawn by the United Nations, after Israel withdrew from its 18 year stay in southern Lebanon in 2000. The “cedars of Lebanon” is an oft repeated expression of the magnificent view afforded to them in the Old Testament and, at times, in prophecy.

The Blue Line is patrolled by just under 2,000 UN troops from the Ukraine, China, Ghana, France, Italy, Poland, India, and Ireland, which make up the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). They have been ineffective at best, with no control over Hizbollah.

At the present time the Blue Line is a scene of the manmade chaos of war generated by Hizbollah in its kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers and the launching of thousands of rockets on northern Israel. Also involved in the act of cunning and treachery are the puppet masters of Syria and Iran, who have pulled the strings of Hizbollah from the beginning of the escapade, as the following DEBKAfile report attests.

DEBKAfile Exclusive: Syria placed its army on war preparedness, pointed Scuds at Israel from Thursday, July 20, the day Tehran took control of Lebanon War

Our sources add Syrian fighter pilots are sitting in their cockpits.

These orders went out from Syrian president Bashar Assad July 20 when Iran’s Revolutionary Guards commander Brig.-Gen Yahya Rahim Safavi (picture) assumed command of the Lebanon war from Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Tehran’s direct military intervention in the conflict was accompanied by an Iranian weapons airlift which began landing Wednesday, July 19, at the Abu Ad Duhur military airfield north of Homs. The deliveries include large quantities of new missiles, including the long-range Zelzal and Fajr 3 and Fajr 5 missiles, Katyusha rockets, anti-tank and anti-air missiles sent out from RG HQ in Bandar Abbas on the Persian Gulf.

Assad acted on the assumption that Israel, whose air force and ground forces are already hammering the cross-border supply routes north of the Litani River to block the passage of Iranian hardware to Hizballah, will soon decide to go for Iranian military operations in Damascus and Abu Ad Duhur.

Gen. Safavi has set up two forward command posts which coordinate war operations with Hizballah chief of staff Ibrahim Akil.

One center is working out of a cellar of the Iranian embassy in Beirut to regulate Hizballah rocket fire against Israel and direct the groups of 3 or 4 RG officers taking part in every Hizballah face-to-face engagement with Israeli ground troops in the south.

The second, housed in the basement of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, is in charge of communications, intelligence and getting hardware into Lebanon.

The deliveries were made to the Abu Ad Duhur airfield because it belongs to the joint Iranian-Syrian Scud missile factory which employs a large number of Iranian engineers and technicians.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that some of the Iranian arms have Hizballah in Lebanon notwithstanding intense Israeli cutoff operations and their impact will probably be palpable in the coming days.

The long north-south valley through Lebanon has many spellings, each one a variation of transliteration between different languages, among them “Beqa, Beqqa, Beka, Bekaa, Bekka, and Bekaa.” The same is true with the name of “The Army of God,” which appears as “Hizbollah, Hizbullah, Hezbollah, Hezbullah,” and a couple of other variations.

The cedar ridges of Lebanon’s Beqa Valley were beautiful examples of God’s handiwork in biblical times, but their beauty has been marred by several events – (1) a civil war that left the country in shambles and economic chaos, (2) Syrian occupation, (3) the rise of Hizbollah in the south, (4) occupation by Israel in the south, (5) the departure of Israel, (6) Syrian control of the country, (7) forcing out of Syria, and now, (8) the war between Hizbollah and Israel.

Israeli artillery and air strikes are further damaging the cedars and pines of Lebanon. I look forward to the day when the voice of God will complete the breaking down of his own botanical creation by his word from the north end of Syria to its southern end, by the ripping apart of a great rift valley, which extends through it. The four Scriptures, from Isaiah, Zechariah, and the Psalms are a highly generalized picture of the power God possesses to both create and destroy his own beautiful creations, and to recreate them in an even more beautiful state as it suits his own pleasure. There is coming a time when the great rift valley, which plows northward under Israel and Lebanon and Israel, will suddenly spread apart during the tribulation period, and the cedars of Lebanon will be broken and burned by the God who made them.

But, after the breaking and burning, no enemy will come against Israel for a thousand years, and God will refurbish the valleys and mountains with trees exceeding the current ones in number and beauty. The current confusion mixed with chaos along the Blue Line cannot be compared with the chaos that will soon come up from below, and down from above, by the mighty hand of God. As I have repeated many times, sounding like a broken record, it is my guesstimate that the best estimate for this ripping to suddenly occur is at some point in time between 2008 and 2012.

Psalm 29:4,5 – The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. [5] The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.

Zechariah 11:1 – Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

Isaiah 14:8 – Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

Isaiah 41:19,20 – I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together: [20] That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

The Book “Tectonic Chaos” – Chapter 1 – The Great Split

I began work on this book immediately after graduating from the MBS in Little Rock, Arkansas, and completed it in 1977 while doing post graduate work at ATU in Russellville, having graduated from ATU in 1976. I have received numerous requests to reprint it as I

have been lecturing across the globe. Because there was considerable duplication between it and my second book, “Tribulation Triad,” I deliberately let it go out of print, feeling some might feel cheated because of the volume of duplication. However, since many of my brethren kept bugging me for a copy, and since I only have two, one soft back, and one hard back, I decided to reprint and update it on our web site and, Lord willing, I will eventually put up all 36 chapters as time permits.

Chapter 1 – The Great Split

Zechariah 14:4 – And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

For hundreds of years preachers have proclaimed from God’s word this event would occur during the tribulation period, and the proclamation, as is normally the case, has been met will rolls of laughter from most of the scientific world. Oddly enough, these scientists have, and still are, fulfilling a prophecy made by God through the prophet Daniel.

Daniel 12:4 – But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Daniel’s prophecies concerning pre-tribulation events have, and are, being fulfilled, and indeed men and women have run “to and fro across”
the earth’s surface, “to and fro” into the universe, and “to and fro” in places beneath the earth’s land and water surface. This has produced a fantastic knowledge explosion in our understanding of the form and contents of God’s creation. The continuing fulfillment of Daniel 12:4 has convinced me that we are living in the days of “the time of the end.” And I am equally convinced these “to and fro” geological discoveries have so increased man’s knowledge that we now understand the basic form in which God designed the outer and enter crust of earth. These discoveries are in perfect agreement with what God revealed to the prophet Zechariah more than 2400 years ago.

Man has, in recent times, discovered a long, deep fault or “crack” in the earth’s crust that extends northward from the Red Sea through the Gulf of Eilat (Aqabah) into Israel and Lebanon. The Arabs identify it as the Gulf of Aqabah, and the Israelis call it the Gulf of Eilat. The fault itself is known to both as the “great rift valley fault”. It is a double fault in the sense that the two parts of it are separated by the valley floor between the two fault block mountains on it two sides. The vast majority of earthquakes occur along both sides

of the valley from Eilat to the Lebanese border. (See Figures 24 and 25 found under our Birth Pangs Menu as Birth Pang Figures). It is the ripping open of this rift valley that will produce

the earthquake responsible for the splitting of the Mount of Olives, which will itself be divided into a mini-rift valley as it spreads apart. (See Figures 30 to 33 in Birth Pangs).

The faults or “two cracks” in the earth’s surface are the northern part of a deep rift, or graben valley, which extends the length of the Red Sea, then southwestward through southeastern Africa. (See Figures 29 and 30 in Birth Pangs). The double cracks extend downward into molten magma beneath the earth’s surface. (See Birth Pang Figures 26 to 28). Widespread scientific exploration during the seventies fully exposed the spreading of the earth’s surface occurring in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and in southeastern Africa. Soon this splitting will extend northward unto the Jordan Valley, and, according to Zechariah 14:4, its effect will be sudden and dramatic. The fantastic earthquake produced in this Jordan Valley Rift, some 30 miles east of Jerusalem, will be sudden and abrupt, as will be its effect on the Mount of Olives, which will be torn into two parts during that terrible time in the tribulation period. This “suddenness” is certainly in accord with the geologic structure of today. At the present the rift valley fault is spreading apart in the Red Sea at a rate of several centimeters each year, but the northern extension of the fault through Israel and Lebanon has been locked or “frozen” in place by tremendous tectonic forces. When the spreading of the Red Sea fault reaches a certain critical (known only by God) both sides of the Jordan Valley will rip apart with a tremendous earthquake.

This earthquake will cause the two faults, which now exist through the northern and southern flanks of the Mount of Olives, to move slightly, one north, and one south, and a new mini-graben valley will be formed between them as the middle of the mountain falls down between them. (See Birth Pang Figures 30 to 33).

When the northern and southern parts spread apart one part will be carried north with the Arabian tectonic plate, and the other will be carried south with the African tectonic plate. (See Birth Pang Figures 33 and 34).

When Israel Will Rise Up as a Lion!

Israel has risen up against Hizbollah for the last ten days

and today has a very large contingency of troops massed on its northern border with Lebanon. One way or the other they intend to clear out a buffer zone between themselves and Hizbollah. For details on this please consult our previous blogs for the last couple of days. But this is not the time when Israel will rise up as a lion.

The article from the Temple Institute, included in this Blog, describes the three week period of mourning which began last week in Israel on the 17th of Tammaz, and reaches its climax on the 9th of Av, the day of the destruction of both Solomon and David’s Temples.

How Ironic that Israel is now engaged in a time of mourning also for the dead and injured in the terrible rocket attacks on northern Israel. But what is happening now is like a mosquito bite compared to the great mourning that will occur when Israel is eventually driven into the Negev by the forces of Islam to remain there for some three and one-half years. Islam is simply not militarily or politically prepared at this time to bring off such a feat, but the time is coming that it will, as I have indicated for some 32 years. I do believe that the forces of Islam will be ready to do it at some point in time between 2008 and 2012, so that is my guesstimate, but it is merely a guess on my part, no more and no less.

Revelation 12:6 – And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

But the good news is that at the end of the 1260 days the Lord will save Israel from the Negev, lead her north, west, and east to claim the land grant promised to Israel, and Israel will rule over all nations for 1000 years.

As I read the article from The Temple Institute, I continually thought about the prophecy of Zechariah 12:6 to 14. When Israel rises up like a Lion in the Negev Wilderness, she will sweep north with a roar toward Jerusalem, sweeping aside her enemies to the east and the west. She will retake the city of Jerusalem, her leaders like flaming torches before her.

With the angel of the Lord going before them

it will make the weakest among them possess the courage and strength of David.

The Coming Wednesday evening, the 17th day of the month of Tammuz, begins the three week period of mourning during which the nation of Israel increasingly occupies its thoughts with the Holy Temple. The 17th of Tammuz marks a dawn-to-dark fast day. The three week period ends with its climax on the 9th day of Av, the date of the destruction of both Holy Temples, observed as a 25 hour fast. These three weeks are also marked by the observance of various customs of mourning, which progressively intensify in stages from the beginning of the month of Av.

While Jewish law specifically designates this time period as one of mourning, the appellation may be misleading. When a family suffers a loss, the Jewish mourning customs help the mourners to come to grips with their loss, to work their way through it, both physically, spiritually, and emotionally, and ultimately to enable the mourners to return to the fullness of their lives. They are unable to make that return until they “get over” their loss.

These three weeks take on the various aspects of mourning, however, with quite the opposite intention. We are never supposed to “get over” this loss! Mourning the loss of the Holy Temple each year is intended to jar us into realizing that our lives as Jews, as human beings on this earth, cannot and will not return to the fullness that G-d has intended for us, so long as the Holy Temple is not standing on its destined spot on Mount Moriah, and the Divine Service has not been reinstated.

The purpose of the three weeks is not to provide a convenient means with which we can compartmentalize our suffering the loss of the Holy Temple. As Jews and as righteous Gentiles we must use these days for taking personal stock, and for recommitting ourselves toward realizing the vision of Isaiah: “… and My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” (Isaiah 57:6)

Our sages teach us that three things are acquired with great travail: the knowledge of Torah,

the Land of Israel, and the World to Come. Referring to this concept, Rabbi Moshe Goldsmith, the mayor of the Samarian town of Itamar describes how his community has coped with many tragedies over the past six years, including most recently, the murder by terrorists of Eliyahu Asheri, may G-d avenge his blood, and the death of elementary school student Shimon Zwicker, of blessed memory.

This past week’s Torah reading, Balak, (Numbers 22:2 – 25:9), teaches us that there have always been those among the nations who are bent upon preventing Israel from fulfilling its role in G-d’s promise of redemption for all mankind. Bilaam, the greatest heathen prophet to ever walk the earth, assisted by the evil Balak, king of Moav, pulls out all the stops, as it were, in an attempt to curse the Israelite nation. Yet G-d turns the curses into blessings, as the words of the prophet are stymied by the deeds – the performance of the Torah commandments – of the children of Israel.

The husbands and wives have worshipped apart for a long time in the Israeli culture.

There were three offices in the structure of worship in the temple era – King, Prophet, and Priest.

The house of David presents the office of

the line of the rulers, the house of Shimei the office of the priests, and the house of Nathan the office of the prophets.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Trainers Prepared Hizbollah better than Israel Anticipated!

The Israeli military is massing on the southern Lebanese border. The Knesset is meeting to decide whether or not to go in and take enough of Lebanese territory zone to establish a “buffer zone” between themselves and Hizbollah. There is widespread speculation as to how wide a buffer zone they intend to establish.

If they go in, and I believe the odds are in favor of it, I believe they will attempt to do the following:

1. Thoroughly clean out whatever width of buffer zone they do decide to establish. By “clean out” I mean full destruction of Hizbollah military capabilities in it, so clean that even UN troops could control it.

2. Eventually, Israel will withdraw from it and allow the United Nations to keep it clean, but only after iron clad assurances they will not repeat their pitiful performance that led to the current situation.

Of course, the UN would be “gung ho” for the first couple of years, but after that would let the same old situation come into existence again.

Several times in his speech yesterday, the leading spokesman for the UN used the expression “alleged militants” in his speech as to how the UN should deal with the current crisis, refra

ining from calling them what they are, raging terrorists. So how much of an effort would the UN make against people they fear

they might offend by calling them what they are? So, in my opinion, the current situation in the Middle East is not going to immediately turn into the tribulation period, but is rather setting the stage for it to begin at a later date

The Hizbollah has turned out to be a tougher nut to crack than Israel expected. I knew they were tough, and have written numerous Archive Prophecy Updates and Blogs to that effect but, quite frankly, they have been better prepared by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard than what I anticipated. I really thought the conflict would be over in less than a month at the most, and still do, but it could go on longer. I would not have been surprised if it had lasted less than two weeks, and it still could, but now it appears the best estimate should be stated as “about a month or so.”

The real significance of the current conflict is that it is a preview of the coming Jihad, which I believe is likely to begin in much the same way as this conflict.

My best guesstimate for this future Jihad, to be launched against Israel from the north, is at some point in time between 2008 and 2012, but it is a guess, no more and no less. However, after Israel goes north over its northern border at that time, we will see Israel suddenly being pushed south, rather than her enemies being pushed north.

Since all eyes are now fixed on Hizbollah, I believe it appropriate that I cover again information we issued in the past on this terrorist army as to its origin and purpose.

Hizbollah began as a 1982 group of imported Iranian Shiites recruiting rabble native Lebanese Shiite elements, which later were responsible for Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000. The influx of more imported, highly trained, elements from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard was instrumental in ever increasing numbers of native Shiite Lebanese being recruited into the movement. Hizbollah changed from a terrorist group to a terrorist army of well trained militia, who began to turn southern Lebanon into a fortified complex consisting of many tunnels, and reinforced bunkers, which provided safe storage zones for their weaponry. Iran was happy to provide a continual flow of rockets into these storage zones via Syria. The terror army of Hizbollah came to be headed by a Shiite Cleric trained in Iran. He is a very efficient military planner, and well schooled in Persian deception. He is determined to destroy Israel, just as much as those who gave him his military degree in hate and destruction.

Israel has been rather surprised at the difficulty it has encountered in digging out a well entrenched militia in southern Lebanon. They will succeed, but it is taking them longer, and with a loss of more soldiers than they anticipated.

Analysis: The Ground Operation has begun under our Noses

AVIVIM − Right under our noses, the Israel Defense Forces ground operation in Lebanon began Thursday. What was described as a minor commando operation was in fact a fairly large assault, involving several specialized units that are entering villages, carrying out searches and engaging in hard, close-range fighting with Hezbollah units.

The air force’s limited success and the continued rocket attacks against northern Israel have drawn the IDF into Lebanon, where it is confronted by a well-organized, well trained and highly motivated Hezbollah force. In two days of fighting, eight soldiers belonging to the IDF’s best units have died.

The losses on the other side are grater, even if they are not being released.

On the other hand, there was a decline in the number of rockets fired on Israel, with some 35 to 40 rockets striking fields in the upper Galilee.

ay morning, IDF troops moved against a Hezbollah position near the village of Maroun Ras, just north of Avivim. At first light, the soldiers discovered a metal door leading to a subterranean bunker complex. It was impossible to see the complex from the air, and it enabled Hezbollah militants to hide after firing rockets against the north. These “nature preserves,” as the IDF terms such well camouflaged positions, are where the ground fighting is now taking place, from Rosh Hanikra in the west to Kiryat Shmona in the east.

On Thursday, six IDF soldiers were killed very near this same place.

Called-up reservists have been deployed to the West Bank so that commando forces can be moved to the border area.

As for the officers involved in the ground operations of the past two days, they do not hide the fact that it is going to be tough going.

Part of the information which follows was taken from a report by Lewis Lipkin, which was listed under the title “HIZBOLLAH INTERNATIONAL.” We included this information some time ago on our web site, but are repeating it now for obvious reasons.

Hizbollah was officially inaugurated in June of 1982. At that time the Sunni Syrian government allowed the Shi’ite Iranian government to send a specialized group of 1000 into the north-south oriented Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, a long valley that had been occupied by some 60,000 Syrian forces. The group of 1000 was made up of military and religious teachers, who were members of the Ayatollah Khomeni’s Revolutionary Guards, and whose primary function was to establish a connection with Lebanon’s Shi’ia revolutionists. The first year of activity by this group was directed toward staying out of the limelight, during which time it could grow into a structured operational army of terrorists dedicated to the destruction of Israel and, eventually, when it grew sufficiently, to the destruction of all nations outside the protection and approval of its god Allah. It grew rapidly from its onset, recruiting the young Lebanese Shi’ites to its mission.

Its military wing swelled due to abundant Iranian funding from huge oil revenues and the Syrian permissive attitude, which grew as long as western and Israeli forces stayed in Lebanon to promote a fragile peace. By late 1983, the Hizbollah terrorist army had risen to almost 10,000 in number, and then it came out of the international terrorist closet forever by the truck bombing of the U.S. Marine headquarters in Beirut. The ruthless slaughter of 241 of the 300 sleeping marines, as well as 56 France paratroopers in a separate incident, led to the withdrawal of the multilateral peace keeping force from all of Lebanon, with the exception of Syria, which then, for all practical purposes, took over Lebanon, at times referring to it as “greater” Syria. The loss of American marines was officially denounced by Islamic governments while their people celebrated wildly in their streets. Hizbollah had been so cleverly kept under wraps by Syria and Iran, that the attack was attributed to some vague “Shi’ite militant group.”

The Iranians succeeded in gaining the most control over Syria’s Shi’ite group, the Amal militia. They expanded from the Bekaa valley and became dominant in all of Lebanon’s southern Shi’ite villages, such that now, in reality, this area is both the territory and stronghold of Hizbollah. The growth of the Hizbollah military wing has been marked by many car-bombings, kidnappings of some West Europeans and Americans, kidnappings and murders of Israelis, many intermittent outbreaks of the shelling of Israeli communities in northern Israel, and, by the close of the twentieth century, more than 4,000 rockets of the Katyusha series had been fired at the single town of Kiryah Shemona. Recent shifts in Syria toward a more militant policy toward the U.S., has caused it to change some of its playing second fiddle to Iran in the control of Hizbollah, and this trend will continue until

the aforementioned Jihad against Israel occurs. Syria is currently in control for when, and how, long shelling of Israel attacks will be conducted, but the real control of Hizbollah still lies in the hands of Iran.

Hizbollah has been steadily spreading its terrorist cells across the surface of the earth. It has organized cells in Europe, the United States, and South America. They are named “The Party of God,” and the following quote from Martin Kramer’s book, “Hizbollah’s Vision of the West,” makes plain their future intentions and bonding with Iran.

“We are the sons of the Nation of Hizbollah, whose vanguard God made victorious in Iran, reestablishing the nucleus of a central Islamic state in the world. We abide by the orders of the sole and wise and just command represented by the Supreme Jurisconsult who meets the necessary qualifications, and who is presently incarnate in the Imam and Guide, the great Ayatollah Ruhallah Al-Musawi Al-Khomeini, may his authority be perpetuated, enabler of the revolution of Muslims and harbinger of their glorious Renaissance.”

The Iranian– Hizbollah program for WORLD conquest was set forth by Khomeini while he was still in exile.

He stated: “There are two kinds of war in Islam: one is called jihad (holy war), which means the conquest of other countries in accordance with certain conditions. The o ther type of war is to preserve

the independence of the Muslim country and the repulsion of foreigners. Jihad, or holy war, which is for the conquest of other countries and kingdoms, becomes incumbent after the formation of the Islamic state in the presence of the Imam or in accordance with his command. Then Islam makes it incumbent upon all adult males, provided they are not disabled or incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of other countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in EVERY country in the WORLD.”

The planned conquest of Israel by Islam is not the end of Islamic fanatic

ism generated out of Iran.

This is the pure religious zeal that drives men and women to pay the ultimate price of their lives to bring the religion of Allah to all nations of the world through conquest.

This religion represents the joy of physical death in Jihad as a rare privilege that gives one a position of eternal joy in the heaven of Allah.

The day after September 11, 2001, President Bush was quick to declare that a war on terror would be directed against ALL terrorist groups of “global reach.” The Party of God is just as much a terrorist group as the Al Queda, but does not arouse the same degree of reaction or concern in the American media and government, most likely because it has not yet struck at America’s heartland. Rest assured that in time it will soon do so at the command of Syria and Iran.

Last week’s article by Haaretz Correspondence Nathan Guttman stated that Hizbollah has been moving many fighters to Iraq to battle American troops and those who favor the new Iraqi government.

The transfer has been carried out through Syria, following an Iranian initiative. The transit through Syrian territory is being permitted by Damascus along its lengthy porous border with Iraq.

Lebanese Hizbollah fighters are part of a broader force of pro-Iranian militants that operates in Iraq to destabilize the country and undermine the intent of the Americans to formulate an independent country with civil liberties. Both Syria and Iran are anxious to see the Hizbollah establish solid operational units in Iraq before the new government is in place next week. The Congressional bipartisan commission, in its interim report, indicated its inquiry into the 9/11 event showed that cooperation between Hizbollah and Al-Qaida is extensive.

The local Hizbollah “specialty,” the occasional shelling of northern Israeli towns, is now almost certainly under Syrian control. The timing and intensity of such recent shelling has been taken as a barometer of Syria’s choice of Iraq as its bedfellow as it pulls ever further from any meaningful relations with the U.S. and Israel.

I believe we are currently watching a carbon copy of what will trigger a future Jihad, whose outcome will be quite different from the present one!

One of these days, likely between 2008 and 2012, terrorists will launch a particularly heavy shelling into some of the northern Israeli cities, which will be intended to be the straw that breaks the back of Israel’s patience. The King of the North will have a massive force of Islamic nations lying concealed in the long, deep NE-SW Palmyra fold valleys of southwestern Syria, poised and waiting for the push north into Lebanese-Syrian territory by Israel, the king of the south, in retaliation for the shelling. Israel will be stunned at the massiveness and effectiveness of the force repulsing them, and the following Scriptures will be fulfilled in quick order. The king of the north will drive south in Israel to Beersheba and conquer all of Egypt.

Daniel 11:40-43 – And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
