The Gospel of Judas Hul-a-ba-loo!

There is quite a stir being generated in the latest attack being leveled by various individuals who, for a bevy for reasons, have been directed by the spirit of the god of this world to continue their attack on the reliability of the New Testament.

There are a large number of what I identify as secular theologians of the New Testament.

They are the critical and highly acclaimed experts on the so called “lack of inspiration” of the Scriptures, readily suggest ing we do not have a reliable document on which to base our faith

in a sacrificed Savior.

It is somewhat amusing that the news media h as tried to present this ancient document

as one that has suddenly surfaced after all these years to finally provide proof the New Testament account is incorrect.

It is as if they are saying, “Now, for the first time, we can compare it with the other writings of the New Testament.” And, as is usually the case, the spirit of the god of this world has brought it to their attention at just the right time – Just before Easter.

The Gospel of Judas was one of the apocryphal books that was considered when the New Testament Cannon was completed. There were hundreds of writings that claimed to be of Apostolic or church saint authorship before the New Testament was cannonized. And some of them were considered to possibly be authoritative in many ancient churches of questionable origin. But they were not cannonized because they did

not correlate or harmonize with the documents that were known to be genuine. The Gospel of Judas was considered when they cannonized the 27 New Testaments of our present New Testament and was not included because it did

not correlate or harmonize with the 27 books selected. It was so far out in left field you could not even see second base.

Many of the apocryphal documents were

of gnostic origin as well as spurious and general fantasy.

The Gospel of Judas was an anonymous gospel written between 130 and 170 AD.

It was declared to be heresy as early as 180 AD by Bishop Irenacus of Lyon.

It is somewhat ironic that at the same time the Judas gospel came out, another equally fantastic story was issued saying Jesus walked on the frozen surface of the Sea of Galilee, not on a liquid surface.

If that is the case then how did the disciples row the boat to the midst of it, why

did Peter sink if it was frozen over, and how did the ice go up and down in liquid waves? As far as I know the midst of the Sea of Galilee has never frozen over in the last 2000 years.

All I can can offer to those who choose to believe the Judas Gospel is this consolation – One day when you meet him you can ask him who wrote it. I won’t have a chance to meet or ask him!

II Peter 3:3,4 – Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

II Timothy 4:3,4 – For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; [4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

has been preparing the Negev as a War Contingency Evacuation Zone since 1948, in the event they were ever overrun from the north. The article by Nissan Ratzlav-Katz, extracted from the Arutz SHEVA Israel National News, informs of a new solar plant which will be of great assistance when Israel actually uses the Negev Evacuation Plan.

Private Solar Plant in the Negev?

After 14 years of activity abroad, Beit Shemesh-based Solel Systems Ltd. Is planning its first project at home, this month announcing plans for a solar-energy power plant in the Negev.

The Solel Company says that the Negev facility will be able to produce 150 megawatts and provide clean power to 300,000 homes. The company has already approached the state authorities, among them the Israel Electric Corporation, to obtain the necessary permits to build a private power plant in the region.

“Israel has the ideal conditions for producing clean energy,” said Solel CEO Avi Brenmiller. “We expect that in 10-15 years about 10 percent of Israelis will consume clean solar energy and the percentage is expected to increase annually. This will totally change the energy market in Israel.”

Construction of the Negev power plant was expected to cost about $350 million. Within 10 years, Solel intends to expand the facility to produce 500 MW of power daily, at a total investment of about $1 billion. The plant would use 70% solar energy and 30% natural gas to heat water for steam-based power production.

Solel’s technology is used in nine commercial solar-powered plants in California, producing 350 megawatts of electricity for 500,000 people, as well as by power suppliers serving 150,000 homes in Nevada.

The company, established in 1992, has its development and manufacturing center in Beit-Shemesh, near Jerusalem.

IT IS TO LAST FOR SOME 1260 DAYS. GOD WILL KEEP ABOUT ONE-THIRD OF ISRAEL IN THE NEGEV, AND WILL PROTECT THEM FROM HIS WRATH DURING THIS PERIOD OF TIME. IN THE DAYS OF THE PROPHETS THE LAND OF ISRAEL WAS IDENTIFIED AS ALL THE LAND FROM DAN TO BEERSHEBA. ISRAEL WILL BE DRIVEN INTO THE ARID WILDERNESS OF THE NEGEV, WHICH EXISTS FROM BEERSHEBA TO EILAT. THE NEGEV IS MORE THAN ONE-THIRD OF THE TOTAL LAND AREA OF ISRAEL.

TOWARD THE END OF THE 1260 DAYS A RESURRECTION WILL OCCUR, WHICH INCLUDES THE BODY OF ISAIAH. IT COMES BEFORE GOD’S WRATH IS POURED OUT IN SEVEN VIALS. THE PROPHET ISAIAH WILL THEN BE JUDGED FOR REWARDS IN HEAVEN ALONG WITH ALL THE SAVED OF ALL AGES, WHILE GOD’S WRATH IS COMING DOWN UPON ALL THE LOST, WHOSE CONDUCT BROUGHT HIS VAST DESTRUCTION DOWN ON EARTH.

GOD WILL DESTROY THEM, WHICH HAVE CAUSED HIM TO DESTROY THE EARTH AS A RESULT OF THEIR IMMORALITY. HE BOMBARDS THE LOST ON EARTH AT THE SAME TIME HE REWARDS THOSE IN HEAVEN FOR WORKS WROUGHT IN THEM BY HIS SON, AS THEY LIVED ON THE PRESENT PLANET.

Isaiah 26:19-21 – Thy dead men shall live, together with MY dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. [20] Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment until the indignation be overpast. [21] For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

the Lord shall be many.

THE WOMAN ISRAEL WILL BE DRIVEN INTO

THE NEGEV AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FINAL 1260 DAYS OF TRIBULATION. SHE WILL BE SHELTERED THERE BY GOD THROUGHOUT THE TRIBULATION PERIOD. ABOUT ONE-THIRD OF THE JEWISH POPULATION (1.8 TO 2.0 MILLION) WILL MAKE IT INTO THE NEGEV. A PART OF THAT ONE-THIRD WILL CONSIST OF SOME 144,000 JEWS, LED BY TWO WITNESSES, WHICH ARE KEEPING THE NEW TESTAMENT COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, AND HAVE THE NEW TESTAMENT TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRIST.

MANY JEWS, DURING THIS 1260 DAYS WILL BELIEVE WHAT THEY TESTIFY. I SUSPECT THAT ALL WILL BELIEVE BY THE END OF THIS PERIOD. JESUS IS THE SEED OF THE WOMAN ISRAEL. THE SEED’S REMNANT INITIALLY CONSISTS OF 144,000 JEWS THAT GO INTO THE NEGEV WILDERNESS. THE 144,000 ARE A REMNANT IN THE TOTAL REMNANT OF 1.8 TO 2.0 MILLION.

Revelation 7:4 – And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Revelation 12:6,17 – And the woman fled into THE WILDERNESS, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. [17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

THIS REMNANT OF HER SEED WOULD CERTAINLY SEEM TO HAVE A LOT IN COMMON WITH THE GREAT COMMISSION OF CHRIST GIVEN TO THE FIRST LOCAL CHURCH.

Matthew 28:19-20 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

IN THIS LATTER TIME OF 1260 DAYS THE ONE-THIRD, THAT WERE SPARED THE SWORD IN ZECHARIAH 13:8 TO 14:2, WILL FIND GOD’S GRACE IN CHRIST IN THE NEGEV WILDERNESS. AND, AFTER THE 1260 DAYS, THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF HER MESSIAH WILL RESTORE ISRAEL TO A GREATNESS AND JOY THAT SHE HAS NEVER KNOWN.

Jeremiah 30:23 to 31:13 – Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked. [24] The fierce anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in THE LATTER DAYS ye shall consider it.

[1] AT THE SAME TIME, saith the Lord, will I be the God of ALL the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. [2] Thus saith the Lord, THE PEOPLE WHICH WERE LEFT OF THE SWORD FOUND GRACE IN THE WILDERNESS; EVEN ISRAEL, when I went to cause him to rest. [3] The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. BUT BEFORE GOD TURNS THEIR MOURNING INTO JOY, MAKES THEM REJOICE, AND COMFORTS THEM, THEY WILL SEE TWO-THIRDS OF THE POPULATION DESTROYED AND THEIR GREAT CITY OF JERUSALEM CAPTURED. BUT GOD WILL BRING THE REMAINING ONE-THIRD THROUGH THE LAST 1260 DAYS, AND WILL NOT FOREVER CUT OFF ISRAEL FROM JERUSALEM.

SHE WILL RECAPTURE JERUSALEM AFTER 1260 DAYS.

Zechariah 13:8 to 14:2 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but THE THIRD shall be left THEREIN. [9] And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God. [1] Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. [2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and

off from the city.

GOD WILL DRAW ISRAEL INTO THE WILDERNESS, AND THERE THEY WILL INDEED GO THROUGH TRIBULATION, BUT THERE HE SPEAKS COMFORTABLY TO THEM, AND THEREAFTER HE WILL LEAD THEM OUT TO TAKE ALL THE LAND GRANT HE SO LONG AGO PROMISED THEIR FATHER ABRAHAM. ISRAEL’S GOD WILL BETROTH HER TO HIM FOREVER, AND THEY WILL CALL HIM HUSBAND (ISHI).

Hosea 2:14-20 – Therefore, behold, I will ALLURE her, and bring her into THE WILDERNESS, and speak comfortably unto her. [15] And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and

as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. [16] And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali. [17] For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name, and in mercies. GOD’S CHILDREN OF ISRAEL HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A KING, A PRINCE, AND A TEMPLE SACRIFICE, FOR MORE THAN 1900 YEARS. BUT SOON MESSIAH THE PRINCE WILL RETURN TO BE THEIR KING, AND THEN THE MILLENNIAL TEMPLE WILL BE BUILT.

Hosea 3:4,5 – For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim: [5] Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his goodness IN THE LATTER DAYS.

Micah 5:6-9 – (SEE PROPHECY UPDATES 62 T0 69) – And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: th us shall he deliver

us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

[7] And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men. Genesis 15:18 + Ezekiel 47:17,19 – (SEE UPDATES 62 TO 69) – In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: [17] And the border from the sea shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side. [19] And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.

IN THIS LAND GRANT, IN CENTRAL ISRAEL, THERE IS TO BE BUILT A MUCH LARGER JERUSALEM, WHICH WILL CONTAIN A NEW TEMPLE. (SEE EZEKIEL CHAPTERS 40 TO 43)

Ezekiel 40:2 – In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

Ezekiel 43:4,5 – And the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. [5] So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house.

One of the major concerns, held by the United States, Europe, Israel, and the moderate Arab nations in the Middle East, is an Iranian take over of Iraq after a civil war. It is certainly warranted, because Iran is truly waiting in the wings for just such a performance.

In an Al Arabiya TV interview Saturday, April 8, the Egyptian president, who rarely speaks about Iraq publicly, asserted that the first loyalty owned by a Shiite regime in Baghdad would be to Tehran. The report from DEBKAfile, which follows, alludes to the possibility of such an event.

DEBKAfile’s Exclusive Sources reveal: Arab intelligence chiefs conferred in Cairo urgently and secretly a few hours earlier on ways to put a stop to Iran’s advancing takeover of Iraq. Egyptian intelligence minister Gen. Omar Suleiman called together colleagues of the key Middle East and Gulf Sunni regimes to align positions on the US-Iranian talks opening in Baghdad on Iraq’s future. They fear Tehran will make the running because of the ground Washington lost when on April 4 US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and UK foreign secretary Jack Straw failed to achieve a breakthrough in the stalled Iraqi talks on a national unity government four months after Iraq’s general election.

Present at the Cairo conference were the secret services directors of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco and Turkey. Syria and Lebanon were absent. Their concern is that a second Shiite power after Iran will rise in Baghdad. This transformation will boost fundamentalist Islamic forces and the Shiite minorities in all the Arab countries.

Hence Mubarak’s warning.

Egypt is worried about the effect on the opposition Muslim Brotherhood; Israel, though not invited to the conference, has much to fear from

the impact on the Palestinian Hamas.

Now in government, the Hamas terrorist group has been continuously nurtured by Saudi and Egyptian intelligence as a Sunni barrier against the Shiite Hizballah in Lebanon.

However, Hamas’s booming relations with Tehran and the Allawite regime of Damascus (a sect which is closer to the Shia than the Sunna), plus Iran’s creeping penetration of the Palestinian terrorist movement, places Hamas in an advantageous middle position athwart the Sunni and Shiite sects of the region. The Palestinian fundamentalists will gain further clout on the international arena if Iran takes control of the Baghdad regime.

Event 9 – The Final 1335 Days Prior to Armageddon

Luke 21:24 – And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Jerusalem’s inhabitants fell by the edge of the sword in A.D. 70 as Christ predicted some 40 years earlier, and were then led away captive into all nations by the troops of Titus, the Roman Prince, son of Vespasian, the Emperor of Rome. And the old city of Jerusalem was indeed trodden down continuously by non-Jews (Gentiles) until June of 1967, at which time Jewish troops took it back for the first time since A.D. 70.

Revelation says that the old city will once again be conquered by the Gentile nations for a brief period of 1260 days.

Zechariah advises us the casualty count across Israel will be high when the city falls, but that a remnant (residue) will not be cut off forever. The remnant will return to the city at the end of the 1260 days. Revelation advises us Israel will be driven into the Negev wilderness for 1260 days and the two witnesses will testify a message among the remaining one-third during that same period.

It is quite likely that the 144,000 in Revelation 7 are the remnant of the woman’s seed in Revelation 12, her seed being Jesus Christ, and the two witnesses are

the leaders of the 144,000.

Revelation 11:2 – But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

In Prophecy Updates 55, 56, 57, and 58, I gave a scriptural exposition as to why I believe what we call the tribulation period, or the unfulfilled part of Daniel’s 70th week, is only 1335 days in length.

In Prophecy Updates 73A, 77, 77A, 77B, and 77C I gave an exposition as to why I believe the rapture will not occur until the blowing of trumpet number seven.

In the book of Daniel three interesting numbers are introduced for the first time in the Bible, a time, and times, and the dividing of time, which equals 1260 days, plus the two other numbers, 1290 and 1335.

Daniel 7:25 – And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Daniel 12:11,12 – And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. [12] Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

I Thessalonians 5:2,3 – For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. [3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

When the time comes that Israel actually believes it has relative peace with security, it will mark the beginning of the last 1335 days of Daniel’s last week. Israel will be attacked 75 days later. I suspect those Jews who survive it are the “blessed” of Daniel 12:12 and Zechariah 13:9.

Al Qaeda, Iranian Infiltrators, and Sunni Terrorists Want a Civil War

Regardless of whether it occurs now or after our troops have departed the Middle East, there will be, sooner of later, a civil war between the different factions in Iraq. And, regardless of when it occurs Iran, in one form or another, with or without WMD’s, will be around to pick up the pieces and weave them into a nation almost as fanatical as their own in Islamic Jihad hatred and frenzy.

One of the current ideas being passed around in Washington is to attack Iran with Air Strikes, eliminating their nuclear possibilities and military installations, and humiliating their vaunted Revolutionary Guards.

I am all for it, but if you think that is going to crush the rising spirit of revolt against the “big devil,” “little devil,” and all the “infidels” of the Western World, you had better think again.

Regardless of what Russia, China, Europe, the United Nations, the United States, Israel, and the rest of the non-Islamic world do or don’t do, we are headed down “the river of no return.” Can any of the countries and organizations possibly slow down the race toward the final conflict of this age

? Possibly, but not for long! I am watching all this rejoicing in what I believe it to be – A countdown to a Middle East War between 10 Islamic nations and Israel, which will be followed some three and one-half years later by the final battle of Armageddon.

I am only rejoicing because once again, the Kingdom of Messiah, that Israel rejected, will finally set down on his earth to close

the battle of Armageddon.

Mubarak: Iraqi Civil War Imminent

In a far-reaching interview Saturday with an Arab satellite channel, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak warned that an Iraqi civil war was imminent and also said he would work to bring Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiating table.

The hourlong interview with Al-Arabiya focused on the region’s flashpoints – Iraq and the Palestinian territories.

Asked by the interviewer if civil war was at Iraq’s door, a troubled-looking Mubarak said it had already passed the threshold.

“It is not at the door. Civil war has almost started among Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds and those who are coming from Asia,” he said. “The situation is uneasy and I don’t know how Iraq will be brought together.

At the moment, Iraq is almost close to destruction.”

A day earlier, Iraq witnessed its deadliest attack of the year, a bomb at the Shiite Buratha mosque in north Baghdad that killed 85 people. On Saturday, a car bomb killed six people near a Shiite shrine south of Baghdad, and fears of more attacks are running high.

What is Happening Now and What is Likely to Begin Between 2008 and 2012!

THE COMING MESSIAH OF ISLAM – THE 12TH IMAM MAHDI

While most of the Christians have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Messiah, Christ Jesus, for a very long time, the Islamic world has been awaiting the rise of their version of the Messiah, Imam Mahdi.

The two men to watch in the Middle East who believe this 12th Imam will soon arise, both of whom are in full agreement with the Islamic traditional teaching of the coming Imam Mahdi, are the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and in Iraq the Shia cleric Mohamed Sadeq al Sadr. Sadr is the 32 year old leader of what is identified in Iraq as the Mahdi Army. The Madhi Army is the most powerful and radical Shia group in Iraq.

Sadr has been consistent in his hate for the U.S. Democracy plans for Iraq. He has 30 seats in the elected Iraqi assembly. It was his group that cast the deciding vote that put the current Iraqi President in office.

Sadr has some 15,000 followers in his al-Mahdi Army. He has, from the beginning, been trying to unite the country against the presence of any foreign forces in Iraq. He has reached out attempting to unite both the Sunni and Krudish faction to unite with him to get the foreign forces out of Iraq.

Sadr claims a direct descent from the prophet Mohammed through a lineage that included Imam Jaafar Al-Sadeq, the theologian behind the Twelve Imams Shia School of thought that al-Sadr follows, along with Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

I have discussed, in numerous previous Blogs and Prophecy Updates, Ahmadinejad’s obsession with the coming of the Mahdi who will lead a victorious Islam during a bloody world-wide conquest that will bring on the end of the world. Islamic tradition teaches the Mahdi will bring about a war that will kill a quarter of mankind.

Sadr named his militia “the Mahdi Army” because of his belief that he, like Ahmadinejad, has been called to set off Islam’s apocalypse and bring about the return of the 12th Imam.

Keep your eyes on these two Imam Mahdi extremists. It may well be, that out of the spirit of Jihad, which is sweeping the Islamic world, the antichrist may arise in the Middle East and viciously attack Israel from the north. I AM NOT identifying either one of them as the antichrist or the false prophet, but I am convinced this madness in the Middle East is headed for an attack against Israel, with the most likely time for such an attack to be somewhere in the time frame of 2008 to 2012.

Both these men may be killed tomorrow as far as I know, but the traditional story of a coming Islamic Messiah will not die – It will continue to grow. I do believe the one Islam calls the Imam Mahdi will be the antichrist, and I believe he is likely to be revealed at some point in time between 2008 and 2012. So, depending on when you believe the rapture will occur, I do believe our redemption is drawing night.

The Fantastic Changes in Prophecy Interpretation 1760 to 1960
The Evangelical Movement is said by many to have begun as early as 1740,

but the initial changes it made in prophecy were miniscule at first, and no really significant changes were made until 1788.

The dramatic changes really began around 1827, which became the year that modern prophecy teachers of today can recognize as their own prophetic view.

If you are as interested as I am in the interpretation of prophecy, and will take the time to do so, by browsing in the archives of many institutions housing old books written from 1760 to 1960, you will see a fantastic change in the interpretations of the time known as the “latter” days, or more specifically, the tribulation period. This 200-year period saw what I believe to have been the correct interpretation of the tribulation period changed by modern interpretations, which I believe are incorrect. I was a teenager in 1945, and grew up in the hills of northern Arkansas under the teachings of older preachers born in the late eighteen hundreds, who still held to the beliefs of the 100 year period that preceded them. They had taken their teachings from men like B. H. Carroll, Barnes, Halley, and other great prophetic teachers of that period. So, in 1971, when I retired from the National Security Agency, and returned home to begin my seminary training, I was stunned to see how the interpretations of end time prophecies had changed. I was never, at any time, disruptive in any of my classes. I was there as the “teachee,” not the teacher.

So I sat and listened to everything that was taught in my prophecy classes. I was very willing to change what I had been taught previously, thinking that it may well have been incorrect. And, in all honestly, knowing that I would stick out like a frog in a punch bowl with my beliefs, I kept silent. I honestly considered what my teachers were putting out concerning prophecy, and tried to see the errors in what I had been previously taught. But, after I graduated, I simply could not teach what I did not believe concerning prophecy. And I have taught, in the church I have been pastor for 31 years, basically what most preachers from 1760 to 1860 taught concerning the tribulation period.

ary, before my first day in class, was a new book they were going through in Sunday school class in the church where I, and my family, were members. It took us a few months to go through it chapter by chapter. I discovered that a lot of other Sunday school classes for adults in other churches were also going through the same book. It was a book written by Hal Lindsey in 1970, titled “The Late Great Planet Earth.” It went on to become one of the greatest selling religious books on prophecy every written. I mean Mr. Lindsey no disrespect or harm, but it was a compilation of all the great changes that had occurred in prophetic interpretation from 1760 to 1960.

Mr. Lindsey said the six members of the European Common Market would grow to 10, and that they were the 10 toes of the statue in Daniel 2, and the 10 horns in Daniel 7. He predicted that the 11th horn would arise in Italy and would represent the antichrist. Well, as anyone could easily predict, the Common Market grew.

Today it is identified as the great European Union with 25 member nations. So where is the antichr

ist? Daniel’s figures now have 25 toes and 25 horns. I can only urge preachers and teachers to get off this new horse. The antichrist and the 10 nations are not coming out of the EU. The antichrist is not a European, and the nations are

not European. The antichrist is the one Micah identified as the Assyrian. And the ten nations are Islamic nations that were once a part of the old Roman Empire of John’s day. Please see our Prophecy Archives – Updates 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 74B, and 78A.

Mr. Lindsey taught that the “Gog” of Ezekiel 38 and 39 was a Russian prince. And he did this by interpreting the Hebrew word “Rosh” to be “Russia,” thereby identifying him as a Russian prince from the land of Magog. The land of Magog is Russia, but the antichrist is not a prince of Magog, he is the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

Most preachers and teachers continue to ride this dead horse. All I can urge you to do is to get off of it.

It may have flown well when the Soviet Union was at its full blown greatness, but it has crashed, and many continue to go down with the plane. Please see our Prophecy Archives – Updates 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39.

Mr. Lindsey taught that Daniel 11:40 to 45 involves an attack by the king of the North, who he identifies as the Russian Prince who leads the Soviet Union, which he identifies as the northern nation that leads a group of 10 nations in a race across Israel to conquer Egypt. The well-known demise of the Soviet Union should have killed this teaching, but many still teach it. Please see our Prophecy Archives – Updates 71, 72, 73, 74, 74B, 74C, 74D, and 75.

Mr. Lindsey taught that the rapture of the saved occurs at the beginning of seven years of tribulation. The first interpreter of scripture, who ever put in print that the saved would not have to go through the majority of the tribulation period, was Morgan Edwards, who published such a book in 1788. He wrote it between 1742 and 1744, while he was a student at Bristol Academy in England, The book was published by Dobson and Lang, on 2nd Street Between Market & Chestnut Streets in Philadelphia. The 1788 book taught a rapture when Christ appears in the air, 3 and ½ years before he descends to the earth with the saints to set up his millennial kingdom. The position that the rapture would occur seven years before Armageddon, never appeared in print before 1827 as an interpretation of the scriptures, but Edwards does claim to have taught what is often referred to as the “Mid-Trib Rapture Position” as early as 1740. Many “first-of-the-weekers” claim Morgan wrote that the rapture would occur seven years before the end of the tribulation period, but that is simply not true. Mr. Lindsey taught that the temple must be rebuilt before the Second Advent of Christ. This is still believed by most of the saved on this earth. But I do not believe it will be rebuilt until the early millennial reign of Christ. Please see our Prophecy Archives – Update 79

Mr. Lindsey taught that we still have 7 years of Daniel’s 490-year period left to fulfill. This was not the majority belief before 1830. I believe we only have 1335 days left of Daniel’s last week to be fulfilled.

Mr. Lindsey taught that the antichrist would control the whole world as we know it today. If Jesus had come before the sixth century, that would have been the case. I believe the expressions, the whole earth, all of the world, wherever men dwell, etc., refers not to the known world of today, but to the days in which the prophecies were written. God uses the form of hyperbole throughout the prophetic writings. Please see our Prophecy Archives – Updates 73A, 77, 77A, 77B, and 77C.

Do I have a personal vendetta with Mr. Lindsey, or anyone who does not believe what I teach? Certainly not! Mr. Lindsey’s books have gotten a lot of people interested in the second coming of Christ.

I know what Mr. Lindsey teaches and, if he is correct, I will recognize it when it starts to happen. I also know what a lot of other men teach on prophetic subjects. And if they are correct I will recognize it when it happens. The Lord told us to “WATCH,” and that is what I am doing. I have had people tell me, well, how can you be watching

if you know when a prophetic event is going to occur? My answer is two fold: (1) I don’t know exactly when a prophetic event is going to occur, and (2) I could be wrong about what I believe. I have also been told, you sometimes change your mind about a thing you have taught in prophecy, doesn’t that make you wishy-washy? My answer is two fold: (1) God is the only one who never changes His mind about prophecy, and (2) Christ is the only man who actually got it right the first time. A man who never changes his mind about prophecy is a man who claims he got it right the first time and therefore has never needed to change his mind. So I am amazed at the numbers holding the same prophetic views from their teens to the grave. I hold the same views of my teens on salvation, baptism,

the church, and the church ordinances, but I have changed some of my views on prophecy. I can find the same teachings on salvation, baptism, the church, and the church ordinances from 1760 to the present, but today’s prophetic teachings have changed to the extent it is difficult to find many teaching what the majority taught before 1827, and impossible to find what are known as the first-of-the-week or mid-tribulation positions before 1760. Before 1760 all the commentaries either carried the “seventh trump” or “last of the week” positions, and 99.9 percent believed in the latter position, which today is also called the “post tribulation” position.
If you don’t believe what I am telling you because you never heard it before, then why don’t you check it out for yourself? Millions believed what Hal Lindsey and the TV evangelists wrote about the rapture, but never bothered to check out what was written before 1760. I am certainly not surprised at the vast majority that never considered what was written by most God-called preachers before 1827. It is a lot of trouble! Is the truth worth it, or would you rather believe what sounds good to you?

Today the world-of-the-saved is waiting for a strong leader to show up in Europe and eventually lead 10 European nations against Israel. They are looking for this man to control all the world as we know it today.

They are looking for this man to put a mark on all people around the circle of the earth from the north to the south poles. They are waiting for him to confirm a covenant of peace with Israel for seven years. They expect the covenant to be broken after 1260 days, and then the last 1260 days of the tribulation period to begin. And they are fully expecting for the rapture to occur before the peace covenant is signed, at which time they will be whisked up and miss all of the seven years. If Hal Lindsey and the post 1827 interpreters are correct, that is precisely what will happen.

If they are wrong, then a lot of people are going to be very surprised, and very disappointed.

If Christ comes at the first of the seven years, I’ll be watching.

If Christ comes in the midst of the seven years, I’ll be watching.

If Christ comes on the seventh trump, I’ll be watching.

If Christ comes at the end of the seven years, I’ll be watching.

I will not be disappointed regardless of when Christ comes!
