Unhappy New Year to a Splintered Terrorist Hoodlum Government!

Genesis 16:12 – And he will be a WILD MAN; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

As I pointed out in previous BLOGS, the Hebrew word construction “wild man” literally means “a wild ass.” The “wild ass” of Genesis 16:12 is, of course, Abraham’s first Son by Hagar the Egyptian, the man Ishmael.

This has proven over time to be a very accurate assessment of his descendants, and I could not suggest a better definition for the Palestinians.

They are, by and large, a collection of wild asses in Gaza and the West Bank who, unfortunately, must be fenced in like a group of wild jackasses to bring any form of “peace and safety” to the other descendants of Abraham through Jacob, the man Israel.

Every time I watch their TV scenarios, such as the ones following the killing of mass numbers of Israelis by a homicide bomber or the recent stroke of Ariel Sharon, where the men prance up and down the street shooting AK-47’s in the air, and the women use tongue and throat manipulations to issue a shrill sound like female jackasses seeking a mate in the desert, it beings to mind what the name of their forefather Ishmael meant in Hebrew. You may well be justified in accusing me of racial prejudice again the Palestinians, but my assessment is based on the performance I have seen them demonstrate publicly for more than 60 years.

The faith of Islam does not lend itself well to true democratic government, only to a dictatorial government led by the strongest wild ass among them, who enforces a merciless government on a people religiously subjected to the commands

of the Koran.

The basic character of the Islamic faith lends itself well to the sudden outbreak of emotional wildness of fanatical passion one sees unleashed by a kicking, braying jackass. I have consistently maintained for many years that ole Arafat was a wild jackass trying to control a gathering of wild jackasses. You can never have a real democratic government in such a maze of confusion and wild emotional outbreaks of absolute hate between the factions within it. I consistently maintained Arafat could not control his own terrorist group Fatah, let alone Islamic Jihad, the al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades, or Hamas, and the same is true of Abbas, or any other Palestinian Prime Minister. The consistent historical pattern of the Palestinians, not because they were descendants of Ishmael, led me to write the following in Prophecy Update Number 1 in January of 2001.

Do not be surprised if the ruling Fatah Government, headed by Prime Minister Abbas, postpones the Palestinian elections which are scheduled for January 26, 2005. As I reported in the previous BLOG, conditions are in such a mess in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, that if elections were held today the Hamas candidates would receive the majority of the votes.

I have constantly maintained that it does not matter which Israeli party is in power in the Knesset, the security barrier/wall/fence will finally be completed, and the terrorist groups will be enclosed within it. Even the liberal Labor Party realizes it is the only way a time of relative “peace and security” can be maintained by the power and expertise of Israel’s great confidence in her own ability to maintain such a condition. But it will be a “false peace” based on Israel’s ability to maintain it, and it will be suddenly broken with a Jihad of 10 Islamic nations attacking Israel from without and within, which will mark the beginning of some three and one half years of

the greatest sudden travail that Israel has every known as a nation. Israel will lose some two thirds of its population and will flee into the Negev wilderness, where she will remain for some three and one-half years. At the end of that time her Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ will return at his Second Advent.

Israel will repent of rejecting him at his First Advent, and will call on their God

through his name and he will hear them.

God will again say of Israel, “It is my people, and they shall say, The Lord is my God.”

Zechariah 14:9 – And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

My best guesstimate for the time of the initial Jihad attack against Israel is 2007 to 2012.

A Terrorist Government Regardless of which Party Wins the Election!

Palestinian elections scheduled for January 25 will produce a terrorist government regardless of which group gets the most votes because it is between terrorist groups.

The Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades are all terrorist groups that range in character from bad, to bad-bad, to super bad, to “can’t get any worse.” Fatah is bad, but not bad enough to wear coverings over their faces. I suppose they would fit the characteristic of “sneaky” bad.

So how would it ever be possible to maintain a relative time of “peace and safety” with such a government

? Only one way – Build a security barrier to separate yourself from them. Then, if they shoot rockets over it at you, you launch rockets and aircraft attacks against them that lead them to realize “we are getting the worst end of this stick.” Israel came to this conclusion a long time ago. I wish the peaceniks, who are naïve enough to believe there is any other way, would wake up and accept this reality.

Sarah understood this quite well – the only way that peace could ever be maintained between the children Abraham fathered was by an act of separating them from one another.

God told Abraham to do as Sarah had requested him to do, and he separated Ishmael from Isaac, the seed of promise.

Genesis 21:10-12 – Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. [11] And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son. [12] And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Later in life Abraham fathered six more sons by Keturah, and, having learned the lesson of separation, sent them away into the east.

The vast majority of the Islamic nations are descendants of Abraham through first Hagar and then Keturah.

Genesis 25:1,2,5,6 – Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah. [2] And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah. [5] And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

[6] But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

The descendants of the sons of Abraham will never be able to live in peace on this earth until the Seed of Abraham through Jacob returns as the Messiah at his Second Advent.

Until Messiah returns the only way even a relative peace can be maintained, even for a brief period of time, is by building a wall of separation between them.

Poll: Hamas to Win PA Elections

One month before Palestinians head

to the polls to choose a new parliament, a poll released on Monday indicated that Hamas would earn the greatest number of seats.

The poll, conducted by An-Najah University in the West Bank city of Nablus, showed that if elections were held today 31 percent of Palestinians would choose Hamas, 27 percent would choose the future bloc headed by jailed uprising leader Marwan Barghouti, and only 18 percent would choose Mahmoud Abbas’ ruling Fatah. The poll surveyed 1,361 people with a margin of error of three percentage points.

The Palestinian parliamentary electi ons are slated to take place

on January 25.

Earlier this month, Fatah’s disgruntled young guard broke away and presented its own list of candidates under the name “Future.” Eager to bring the young guard back in

to the fold, Abbas agreed to award top slots to many of the younger activists who had done well in Fatah primaries.

Initially, Abbas had given many of these spots to oldtimers, who will now have to compete in districts, where their re-election is not secured.

A court must still approve the merger, with a decision expected late Monday. If Fatah reunites with the young guard, the party would likely defeat the Hamas challenge.

Iran Obtained 12 long-range Missiles’

Iran recently acquired 12 cruise missiles with a range of up to 3,000 kilometers, according to OC Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Aharon Ze’evi (Farkash) on Tuesday. He noted the missiles had the ability to carry a nuclear warhead.

Speaking at the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee for the last time before leaving his position, Ze’evi noted the missiles originated in a batch of 18 missiles shipped from Ukraine to Russia.

Twelve of the missiles made their way to Iran, while the other six ended up in China.

He warned that Iran posed a substantial threat to Israel’s security, and that the United States was “dragging its feet” in dealing with the situation.

Still, the OC Intelligence head said that diplomatic pressure slowed the Iranian nuclear program, though it was still determined to produce an atomic bomb.

Ze’evi also mentioned that Palestinian terrorist groups were still managing to smuggle weapons across the Egyptian border at

the Rafah crossing, although not to

the same degree as they had previously.

The weapons included shoulder-launched anti-tank and anti-aircraft rockets.

The outgoing intelligence officer also warned of an imminent escalation along the Israeli-Lebanese border, including launching of rockets into Israel. He said that the cooperation between Syria and Hizbullah was meant to ensure a continued state of instability.

Iran Bought Missiles from North Korea: Press

Iran has bought 18 BM-25 missiles from North Korea which the Islamic Republic wants to transform to extend their range, the German press reported Dec.

16.

”Iran has bought 18 disassembled BM-25 missiles from North Korea with a range of 2,500 kilometers (1,553 miles),” Bild newspaper said, citing a report from the German secret services.

It added that Iran’s ultra conservative President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to have the range of the missiles “extended to 3,500 kilometers”. The newspaper said that until now Iran only had Shehab-3 missiles with a range of 1,300 kilometers.

It further cited the secret service report as warning that “with a longer range, and the probability that (Tehran) would try to equip the missiles with nuclear warheads, there is the risk that Iran could strike at Israel and parts of central Europe.”

It added that according to the German intelligence services, Iranian experts were already working on fitting

the missiles with nuclear warheads.

The report comes amid outrage at remarks by Ahmadinejad calling the Holocaust a “myth”, and a warning from Tehran on Friday that it would respond in a “swift and destructive” way if attacked by Israel.

The Eight Lights and Eight Days of Hanukkah

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

The history of the Jewish Hanakkah was covered by the Jerusalem Post article in our last BLOG of December 24. This is just adding a couple of more odds and ends about it. In 2005 our Christmas Day ends six hours after the first day of Hanakkuk begins.

Christmas Day 2005 began individually for us one minute past midnight local time December 25, and six hours before it ends the first day of Hanukkah begins for Jewish households. The word “Hanukkah” means “dedication.” The “rededication” of the Temple in Jerusalem, after it was defiled by the Syrian Antiochus Epiphanes, is the occasion for the Holiday (See previous BLOG).

After a great victory over the Syrians, Judah Maccabee and his soldiers went to the Temple, and were extremely saddened to discover the great number of things that were missing or broken, including the menorah of gold.

They cleaned and repaired the Temple including the menorah.

At the time it was deemed the Temple had been cleansed of the defilement

of Antiochus, they held a great rededication ceremony. They were only able to find a small flask of holy oil dedicated for Temple service, which contained only enough oil to keep the menorah burning

for one day.

According to Jewish tradition and commentaries on the Torah by the Rabbis, the oil miraculously lasted eight days, which is the length of the days of Hanukkah. Today Jews celebrate Hanukkah for eight days by lighting candles in a menorah every night, thus commemorating the eight-day miracle.

The Hanukkah menorah is called a Hanukiyah. It has nine candle holders.

Eight of the candles are for the eight day miracle. The ninth is used to light the other eight candles each night. The ninth candle is called the Shamash.

The candles are placed in the Hanukiyah from right to left, but when they are lit, it is from left to right.

So today the Christians have many holidays, the Jews

have religious holidays galore, and the Muslims have their share as well. How I look forward to the day when the following two Scriptures are fulfilled in Zechariah. There will only be one King, and all nations will be directed to come to Jerusalem annually at the Feast of Tabernacles to worship the King of Kings, Jesus Christ!

Zechariah 14:9 – And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

Zechariah 14:16 – And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year

to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Since the Jewish Holiday of Hanukka and the Gentile Christmas occur on the same day in 2005, it seemed appropriate to me to discuss Hanukka on Christmas Eve, particularly since the cruel Syrian ruler, whose dastardly act was directly responsible for it becoming a holiday, is incorrectly identified by some as the antichrist of the last days, and they make a serious error in interpreting Daniel 8.

The unusually cruel Syrian ruler was Antiochus Epiphanes who lived from 175 B.C. to 163 BC., and Daniel’s prophecy concerning him was written some 433 years before Antiochus fulfilled it.

Glorious Past, Bright Future

Odi’in, slated to be Israel’s fourth largest town, was until recently more famous for its past than its present.

This was the village where the miraculous story of Hanukka started more than 2,000 years ago.

Today, as cars congest Route 443, which joins Jerusalem and Tel Aviv via Modi’in, it’s not easy to imagine Matityahu the Hasmonean priest fleeing from Jerusalem on the parallel road along Ma’ale Beit Horon to avoid the harsh decrees of Antiochus, the Greek-Syrian leader who ruled over Israel.

Keeping Shabbat, studying Torah, circumcision and even observing the new moon were all forbidden. Antiochus was determined that the Jews were to be Hellenized, and anyone attempting to keep up their Jewish practice was to be put to death. The Temple in Jerusalem had been overrun and defiled, and he was sure that it was just a question of time before Judaism disappeared from the face of the earth.

Jews who were determined to keep their faith fled the capital and hid among the hills in places like Modi’in, intending to keep a low profile while maintaining their religious Jewish lifestyle. But Antiochus dispersed his soldiers to flush out the pockets of resistance. The soldiers set up an altar in Modi’in and demanded that the Jews show their allegiance to Antiochus by sacrificing a pig on the altar or be put to death.

One hapless Jew stepped forward to perform the sacrifice but Matityahu, incensed at the thought of such treachery to Judaism, grabbed a soldier’s sword and ran it through the Jew. Before the soldiers realized what was happening, Matityahu’s sons had killed them too, and together the family and many other Jews fled from Modi’in to the hills to hide.

Now they were outlaws, and the rebellion had begun.

Matityahu and his sons, known as the Maccabees, led a guerrilla war against the enemy.

They had the advantage of knowing the area and the narrow passes around the hills and villages, and although they couldn’t take on a whole army, they lured the soldiers into treacherous narrow passes and killed them one or two at a time. Miraculously, the small number of Jews prevailed over the vast Greek army, and the Temple was once again resanctified and restored to Jewish hands.

One thing that always puzzled archeologists was the location of the tombs of this famous Hasmonean family.

On Route 443, just opposite the modern town of Modi’in, you will see a sign pointing out the Maccabean graves, but archeologists have long known that these were not the real graves. They are typically Byzantine and show no sign of being Jewish graves at all.

The most reliable description we have of the real tombs is from the famous Jew-turned-Roman historian, Josephus Flavius. He described them as being seven pyramidal tombs, enclosed in a large building that was visible from the sea.

A few hundred meters deeper into the Ben-Shemen forest, an area was discovered that a local Arab told archeologists had always been known as Hirbet al Yahud, the Jewish graves, a few meters from another well preserved, domed burial site which he called the Sheikh’s tomb.

Archaeologists discovered signs of a large building of some sort with seven burial niches, and found a two-meter square slab of white monolithic stone – typical of burial stones during the Hasmonean era – that was sent to a stone expert to try to determine what it had been.

The expert declared that it had been the base of some pyramid-shaped structure. The archeologists had little doubt that this was the real site of the Hasmonean family’s graves.

There are also those who believe that the larger dome-shaped tomb must be that of Matityahu himself, and not a sheikh. There is documented evidence that human bones found there many years ago were taken out of the country.

But if you go looking for this burial site, you’ll be disappointed. Without a guide, it will look like just another shallow ditch in the forest. Bureaucracy and lack of finances have meant that the area was never properly excavated, and the signpost leading to the non-Hasmonean graves remains in place.

A few years ago, when route 443 was being widened, work was stopped when the machines uncovered a cave on the side of the road. The cave revealed a typical Jewish Hasmonean type burial site with shelves in the wall where the bodies were laid after death. They contained 20 ossuaries (boxes that held the bones of the dead) with clearly visible names such as Miriam, Sarah and Menelaus (a non-Jewish name adopted by many Jews at that time).

Excavating sites is a very costly business, and countless discoveries may remain forever unknown to the general public because there are not enough funds. One such area is not far from these graves, where signs of a synagogue and several mikves were discovered.

In the Gemarra, Modi’in is mentioned as being a day’s walk from Jerusalem, which means that it was an important station on a pilgrim’s route to sacrifice in the Temple.

This accounts for the large number of olive presses and the unusually high number of mikves that were discovered. Most private houses probably had their own mikve, in which the priests would purify themselves before preparing olive oil for use in the Temple.

Some were probably also used by the pilgrims themselves in preparation for their trip to the Temple.

On Tittoria Hill, a very large mikve was unearthed, similar to those found in Jerusalem close to the Temple, with two doors – one for the ritually unclean to enter and another for them to exit in purity, suggesting that far more people used these mikves than could possibly have actually lived there.

As modern Modi’in grows by leaps and bounds (an increase of 8,000 residents a year over the past eight years, with prospects of doubling this number in the next few years), almost every excavation for building purposes reveals layers of archeological evidence of the town’s past. Sometimes building is halted and the findings delved into, but with the lack of funds for complete excavations and the pressing need for housing for the modern town’s population, a lot is swept once again under the foundations, maybe to be discovered by future generations.

Deputy Mayor Alex Weinreb, who is responsible for archeological restoration, does all he can to preserve the sites that have been discovered. Eight archeological parks being set up will include much of the finds, including a large town just discovered in the area known as Um El Umdan, off the road between Modi’in and Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway that archologists believe may be the area where the Hasmoneans lived.

Not surprisingly, Hanukka is a very special time for this town. The week is an official municipal holiday, and there are torch-lit processions, games, quizzes and seminars to which out-of-towners are welcome (for details, see www.modiin.muni.il). This is a week when Modi’in revels in its heroic past and looks forward to a bright future.

I agree wholeheartedly with the interpretation of Daniel 8:8-14 given by Dr. Merrill F. Unger in the well known “Unger’s Bible Handbook,” 1966. He offers the following exposition.

Daniel 8:8-14 – Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

[9] And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. [10] And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. [11] Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. [12] And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered. [13] Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice,

and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? [14] And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall

the sanctuary be cleansed.

“The he-goat is Macedonian Greece in its lightening like conquests under Alexander the Great, who is the ‘great horn’ of the goat. His conquest of the Persian Empire is prophetically symbolized in verses 6 and 7, in the decisive battles of Granicus (334 B.C.), Issus (333 B.C.), and Gaugamela (331 B.C.). His untimely death in Babylon (323 B.C.) and the division of his world empire among his four generals are therein prefigured in verse 8. This resulted in three great Hellenistic empires by 275 B.C. – Macedonia, Egypt (Ptolemies) and Syria (Seleucids).

The career of Antiochus Epiphanes (175-163 B.C.) is then prophetically outlined in verses 9 to 14.

In 167 B.C. he conquered Palestine, defiled the sanctuary and dedicated it to Zeus Olympus. In 164 B.C. the temple was purified. This is the period of the ‘two thousand and three hundred days’ of verse 14. As the “little horn” of verse 9, he is not to be confused with the “little horn” of Daniel 7:8, 24-26, who is the Antichrist of the end time, although Antiochus Epiphanes did foreshadow him. Both are similar in their idolatry and desecration of the temple (II Thessalonians 2:3,4 and Revelation 13:1-18), but are distinct as the context proves and the book of the Revelation attests.”
