SYRIA’S LATEST “GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE”!

In the United States communities are constantly alerted to the need to come into a store that has a huge sign in front stating “GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.” However, after pulling out the sign once

a year for 40 years, the local residents know it is a sales gimmick, and the store is not going out of business until hell freezes over.

I long ago lost count of how many times Syria has drawn out the banner “WE ARE CLOSING ALL OF THE 12 TERRORIST GROUP HEADQUARTERS IN THE CITY OF DAMASCUS.” They then shuffle the terrorist groups into different apartments, where they continue to operate as before.

Once again, due to international pressure, Syria is using the same old worn banner, but rest assured, they will not run the terrorist groups out of Syria until hell freezes over. For decades, the leaders of Syria have played a split-tongued game with the free world.

They have assured the world they have closed the many Palestinian terror offices while, at the same time,

they continue to assure the many terrorist groups privately they can still operate freely in new in-country locations.

The Alawites are in trouble! Assad must have a stomach that seems full of butterflies from the anxiety he is suffering as a result of pressure, from family, terrorists, terrorist nations, friends, and foes. Alawites have a long history of killing many Sunnis and Shiites that disagreed with their political rulership.

Their dictatorship, over the government, military, and security services, has been in place for some 35 years, and yet, they comprise less than 13 percent of the population of Syria. They take their name from Ali, the cousin and son-in-law of the prophet of Islam, Muhammad. The term Alawi was recognized by the French when they occupied Syria in 1920. Historically, the Alawites have been called Nusairis, Namirila, and Ansariyaa.

The name Ansariyaa seems very similar to Assyrian. The tern Nusayri became one of abuse, and they themselves preferred to be called Alawis to show their reverence for Ali.

In 1970, Air Force Colonel Hafez al-Assad, an Alawis, took power and instigated a “correctionist movement” in the Ba’ath Party. In 1971 he became President of Syria, a function that the Constitution only allows a Muslim to occupy.

So, in 1974, Imam Sadr, leader of Twelver Shiites of Lebanon and the founder of the Amal Movement, was asked to issue a proclamation that he accepted the Alawites as real Muslims. Most of the Muslim authorities, both Sunni and Shiite, still do not recognize them as Muslims. Under the dictatorial regime of Bashar Assad’s father, Hafez, minorities were generally tolerated, although during the Hama Massacre in 1982, perhaps 20,000 predominantly Sunnis

were killed.

After the death of his father in 2000, Bashar maintained the outlines of his father’s regime. Although Alawites dominate the top military and intelligence offices, the civilian government and national economy is led primarily by Sunnis.

This is one of the reasons I expect Bashar Assad to be out of office before 2007. The latest “GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SIGN” may eventually be the last time they drag it out. The Alawites could finally actually GO OUT OF BUSINESS in Syria.

But you may rest assured that, regardless of any regime change, the terrorist groups will still be in Syria when hell freezes over.

Do not expect a coup by the Sunnis to suddenly produce a government favorable to the United States, the “Great Devil” in their belief. It may seek at first to assure such a takeover will be in the best interests of the United States, but the future leader of the coup, or the one who later forces him out in a time of great instability, could well be the Assyrian found in Micah 5:1-9, who I believe will be the antichrist. Syria has a lousy economy and cannot afford large expend itures to fund the terrorist groups

it supports. However, having chosen to ride in the terrorist boat, with Iran standing at the helm, Assad has been able to rule a terrorist dominated nation by generating oil money trade support from Iran’s oil driven economy. The financial and military support, which comes from Syria to the numerous terror groups of Islam, is passed via Syria from Iran to a large extent.

It is out of Iran that the Islamic spirit of Jihad is ever growing, and out of which the 10 toes of the stature in Daniel 2 will be funded by oil revenues. Sanctions against Syria by the UN and the US are effective, but as long as the Iranian support is there, then the sanctions are not nearly as effective.

China, the sleeping giant, is now fully awake. Before World War Two, I remember that many things I found in ten cent stores were labeled “made in Japan.” Now, most things I see in stores are labeled “made in China.” China has turned into an industrial giant and our trade deficit with it is staggering. China loves its new world economic position, but needs liquid natural gas (LNG) to manufacture its raw materials.

Last year a deal was made with Iran to supply tons of LNG worth some 100 billion dollars. And, it seems probable that a new deal will soon be completed for 200 billion dollars. Under the new agreement Iran will export 10 million tons of LNG each year for 25 years in return for the investment of Chinese monies in exploration and drilling. Iran’s oil wealth causes sanctions against it to be insignificant.

Russia has plenty of its own oil and exports a lot

of it. But the collapse of the Soviet Union was primarily an economic collapse. Russia’s tie to Iran is based on the drastic need to boost its sagging economy. The Russian economy is tied to present and anticipated multi-billion dollar contracts to build Iranian nuclear related facilities. The Russians have also raised their economy on past and present sales of weapons systems and aircraft to Iran, and continued sales will lift it to a higher degree of respectability in

the future.

Daniel 2:42-44 – And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. [43] And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall MINGLE themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. [44] And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The word from which “MINGLE” is translated is “ARAB.” And the descendants of Abraham through Hagar and Keturah, and Lot’s two daughters, are most assuredly a “MINGLED” people. The 10 toes are ARAB nations.

The kingdom set up in verse 44 is the one which will be established by the Messiah when he returns following the horror of the tribulation period.

Luke 21:26-28 – Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

[27] And then shall

they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

[28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Russia and China will not join with the Arab nations in the initial Jihad against Israel, but will join the Assyrian antichrist some three and one-half years later, when he requests them to join him in a final destruction of

Israel at Armageddon.

Revelation 16:16 – And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Daniel 12:1 – And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Pressure, Everywhere, and not a Drop of Relief!

From my High School English Literature days, I recall bits and pieces of “The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.” And I could not help but think of certain phrases of it as I considered the pickle President Bashar Assad finds himself in at the present time. The United Nations Security Council yesterday passed a unanimous resolution (15 to 0) to demand that Syria give its full cooperation to the U.N. investigation into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq, as well as some 22 killings in which Syria may have been involved.

The resolution empowers the council to impose a travel ban and asset freeze on anyone suspected of be ing

involved in the killings.

How Assad’s relatives survive this investigation will determine whether his regime hangs on or collapses.

He has never had so much pressure on him from friends and foes at the same time. He is like the ancient mariner, standing on the deck of a ship as the only survivor, surrounded by salt water, none

of which he can drink.

“Water, water, everywhere – And all the boards did shrink –Water, Water, everywhere – Nor any drop to drink.”

“I looked upon the rotting sea – And drew my eyes away – I looked upon the rotting deck, and there the dead men lay.”

Assad is surrounded, by the governments of this world, and none offer him the kind of relief a cup of water provides a thirsty man. He stands on the international support of nations yet finds it shrinking and rotting beneath him by the stink of the dead men assassinated by his regime.

As I have stated many times in the past, I do not believe Assad will be in office when 2007 rolls in, and

the man who replaces him, or

the one who follows him, could be the antichrist.
