As I have stated repeatedly, it doesn’t matter which party is in office, the security barrier will be completed, and a false peace

“We will not rest until we reach a permanent agreement (with the Palestinians) that would secure a safe future for our children and that would provide us with renewed hope to live in a region where people lead a life of cooperation and not, God forbid, where blood is shed from time to time,” Peretz said.
The new Labor chairman emphasized this move is a direct continuation of Rabin’s political heritage: “I came today to make a vow to Rabin, once again, that I intend to do everything I can to continue his way, I intend to do everything I can so that [Rabin’s] assassin would know he failed to murder peace.”

Rise of Islam – The French Intifada

The rise of the spirit of Islamic Jihad today had its beginnings in the central zone of the Arab states with Yassar Arafat and
in the fall of the Shah of Iran, followed by the
rise of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan.
It is now on a worldwide spread among the Muslim populations dispersed in pockets in many countries. The most recent demonstration of the internal spirit of Jihad in the Middle East itself has just been manifested by the suicide bombing of three American owned hotels in Amman, Jordan, while the most recent European event, manifesting a spirit of Jihad, has been the emotional outbreak of destruction that has raked France for the last two weeks.
The following article by Daniel Pipes in the Jerusalem Post, titled “The Context,” does indeed put the French riots in context better than any article I have read on the subject. I hope you will read it.
What is now happening in France is the harbinger to a trend that will grow in fever in Muslim communities across Europe, and will most assuredly be used as a tool of fear by Islamic extremists.
When the current fire is doused with appeasement by the French, its success will cause other Muslim communities to become more active in Islamic pursuits across central Europe and Great Britain.

France: The Context

What started in Clichy-sous-Bois, on the outskirts of Paris, by its eleventh night had spread to 300 French cities and towns, as well as to Belgium and Germany. The violence, which has already been called some evocative names – intifada, jihad, guerrilla war, insurrection, rebellion, and civil war – prompts several reflections:
End of an era: The time of cultural innocence and political na vet , when the French could blunder without seeing or feeling the consequences, is closing. As in other European countries (notably Denmark and Spain), a bundle of related issues, all touching on the Muslim presence, has now moved to the top of the policy agenda in France, where it will likely remain for decades.
These issues include a decline of Christian faith and the attendant demographic collapse; a cradle-to-grave welfare system that lures immigrants even as it saps long-term economic viability; an alienation from historic customs in favor of lifestyle experimentation and vapid multiculturalism; an inability to control borders or assimilate immigrants; a pattern of criminality that finds European cities far more violent than American ones; and a surge in Islam and radical Islam.
Not a first: The French insurrection are by no means the first instance of a semi-organized Muslim insurgency in Europe – it was preceded days earlier by one riot in Birmingham, England and was accompanied by another one in rhus, Denmark. France itself has a history of Muslim violence going back to 1979.
What is different in the current round
is its duration, magnitude, planning, and ferocity.
Media denial: The French press delicately refers to the “urban violence” and presents the rioters as victims of
the system.
Mainstream media deny that it has to do with Islam and ignore the permeating Islamist ideology, with its vicious anti-French attitudes and its raw ambition to dominate the country and replace its civilization with Islam’s.
Another method of jihad: Indigenous Muslims of northwestern Europe have in the past year deployed three distinct forms of jihad: the crude variety deployed in the United Kingdom, killing random passengers moving around London; the targeted variety in the Netherlands, where individual political and cultural leaders are singled out, threatened, and in some cases attacked; and now the more diffuse violence in France, less specifically murderous but also politically less dismissible. Which of these or other methods will prove most efficacious is yet unclear, but the British variant is clearly counterproductive, so the Dutch and French strategies will probably recur.
SARKOZY VS. VILLEPIN: Two leading French politicians and probable candidates for president in 2007, Nicholas Sarkozy and Dominique de Villepin, have responded to the riots in starkly contrasting ways, with the former adopting a hard line (proclaiming “tol rance z ro” for urban crime) and the latter a soft one (promising an “action plan” to improve urban conditions).
Anti-state: The riots started eight days after Sarkozy declared a new policy of “war without mercy” on urban violence and two days after he called violent youth “scum.” Many rioters see themselves in a power struggle with the state and so focus their attacks on its symbols. A typical report quotes Mohamed, 20, the son of a Moroccan immigrant, asserting that “Sarko has declared war… so it’s war he’s going to get.” Representatives of the rioters have demanded that the French police leave the “occupied territories”; in turn, Sarkozy partially blamed the riots on “fundamentalists.”
The French can respond in three ways. They can feel guilty and appease the rioters with prerogatives and the “massive investment plan” some are demanding.
Or they can heave a sigh of relief when it ends and, as they did after earlier crises, return to business as usual.
Or they can understand this as
the opening salvo in a would-be revolution and take the difficult steps to undo the negligence and indulgence of past decades.
I expect a blend of the first two reactions and that, despite Sarkozy’s surge in the polls, Villepin’s appeasing approach will prevail. France must await something larger and more awful to awake it from its somnolence. The long-term prognosis, however, is inescapable: “the sweet dream of universal cultural compatibility has been replaced,” as Theodore Dalrymple puts it, “by the nightmare of permanent conflict.”

Islamic APPEASEMENT is not an A-PLEASE-MENT for Security!

Historically, when a country has a policy of APPEASEMENT toward a renegade belief or a rogue nation, it does not produce the condition of A-PLEASE-MENT to the extent they are satisfied permanently.
It will invariably lead to more and more appeasement to satisfy their lust for their cause.
They will never be fully satisfied until you appease them by submission to all their demands.
I have been amazed at the International news medias carefulness not to cast any dispersions against Islamic based populations, as if to call a spade a spade is some sort of horrible, politically incorrect, act against a belief that considers America to be the Big Devil and Israel the Little Devil. The efforts of the French leaders to relieve the Islamic belief of any possible responsibility in instigating or inflaming the long chain of riots, killings, and burnings in France is understandable – they do not want to make them so mad they will worsen – their cowardice toward standing against
the Islamic madmen in the Middle East is well known. The news media continuously refers to the trouble makers as a group of poor mistreated immigrants from Africa and the Middle East.
Since France controlled some of these countries before the breakup of the colonial empires, it was only natural that many of the Muslims would flee to France when the harsh Islamic Revolutionary leaders became their rulers after the French pulled out. It is almost as if they fear to call them Muslims, seemingly inferring that has absolutely nothing to do with the riots, and that the only way to stop the riots is for the French government to give in to
them by improving their standard of living by a massive effort, involving welfare and better everything for them on a silver platter. Please do not accuse me of believing that all Muslims are bad people, or that I have the old west attitude of the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim. But do believe I am persuaded the Islamic extremists are desperately trying to get all Muslims to believe and act as they do! So who are these rioting burners and destroyers of public property
?
They keep telling us they are poor mistreated immigrants from Africa and the Middle East, without identifying them as Muslims or Islamic in their proclamations.
So of what faith are these mistreated immigrants? Let’s take a look at the countries they came from, and the percent of the population in those countries that follow the Islamic faith!
Morocco (98.7%) – Algeria (99%) – Tunisia (99%) – Egypt (91%) – Syria (88%) – Libya (97%) – Lebanon (70%) – Iraq (97%) – Iran (99%) – Saudi Arabia (95.7%) – Sudan (65%) – Somalia (100%) – Comoros (99%) – Somaliland (100%)
There is no question that their economic conditions contributed to a large extent to the riots, but to believe that Islamic extremists would be as innocent as the driven snow in any involvement in this uprising is really an insult to their ability to take advantage of the situation.

In the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks, the US media became preoccupied with a key question: “Why do they hate us so much?” A fair-minded people, the Americans believed there must be a good, rational explanation why 19 educated, economically comfortable young men would ram planes into buildings, killing themselves along with thousands of innocents.
Among the many reasons proffered, one that appeared frequently – and drew concern in Jerusalem – was that it was all due to US support for Israel. If the US would only toe a more pro-Arab, pro-Palestinian line, this argument ran, then the Arab and Muslim masses wouldn’t hate it so.
The events in Paris over the last 12 days have confirmed the vacuity of this argument.
Since the mid-1960s, France has consistently been among the most pro-Arab countries in western Europe.
Indeed, one can make a compelling argument that one reason French President Jacques Chirac was so opposed to the US war in Iraq was that he believed this would give France special status among the world’s Muslims.
France, unlike the US, cannot be accused of a pro-Israeli slant. Nevertheless, its Muslim youth are rioting in the banlieues of Paris. Though it is too early to dissect this ongoing French revolution, one thing that can already be said is th
at these rioters hate France – otherwise they wouldn’t be destroying its property and setting fire to its towns and suburbs.
And this hatred of France has nothing to do with Israel.
Why is this important to state
? Because for too long much of the West, with France at the vanguard, has tried to paper over its real conflict with radical Islam with the argument that if only a solution to the Israeli-Arab conflict could be found, then all would be well with the world and Islamic enmity would disappear.
Not so. The Muslim youth in France are not rioting as a sign of solidarity with their Palestinian or Iraqi brothers. They are rioting in large part because they feel discriminated against, alienated, and cut out of that great French “liberte, egalite, fraternite” pie.
The French would be wise to pay attention to the fact that
these flames of alienation are being fanned and leveraged for their own use by Islamic radicals who – as the homegrown London bombers proved in July – are thriving on the streets of Europe.
Parallels can be found with our reality. At one time the Arab-Israeli conflict looked predominantly like a territorial
one. Indeed, this thinking underpinned UN Security Council Resolution 242, which created the territories-for-peace rubric.
What was ignored was the religious and ideological component of the conflict.
It is not coincidental that the recent Palestinian paroxysm of violence here goes by the name of al-Aksa Intifada – and not, for instance, the Gaza intifada, or the West Bank intifada.
Naming the violence after the mosque on the Temple Mount, and not one or other of the disputed territories, underlines that religious component, a component that – with the help of Iran, Hizbullah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad – has made the conflict much more violent, volatile and intractable.
Land-for-peace, for the radical Islamic groups, has always been obsolete.
France – yes, ironically, France – has now awakened to find itself facing a similar dilemma.
The instinctive reaction in France to the rioting has been twofold: a pledge to restore security and to address the “causes” of the rioting: the deprivation, discrimination, alienation and rootlessness of the rampaging, largely Muslim, youth.
One cannot argue with either of these two points.
But French policy makers would be unwise to overlook the religious, ideological dimensions of the battle, and the way Islamic radicals preaching from the mosques and spewing out hatred via the Internet are able to prey on this disaffection and import a toxic ideology into France and the heart of Europe.
True, the current riots in France may be about rootlessness and alienation of minority youth, but they are not only about rootlessness and alienation.
Radical Islam is part of the mix as well, and the French will ignore that at their own peril.

Syrian Officials Face More Questioning!

UN investigators have summoned Syrian President Bashar Al Assad’s brother-in-law to face more questioning over the killing of a former Lebanese prime minister, a
Lebanese political source said yesterday.
The source said Major General Assef Shawkat, head of Syria’s military intelligence, was on a list of six names sent to Damascus by chief UN investigator Detlev Mehlis, who wants to question the men at his headquarters east
of Beirut.
Shawkat, who is married to Bashar’s sister Bushra, was among 10 Syrian officials interviewed in Damascus by the UN team in September. His name appeared in Mehlis’s report to the Security Council last month.
Foreign Minister Farouq Al Shar’a said Syria would cooperate with the UN inquiry, but did not refer to Mehlis’s request. A Syrian official, who confirmed that the request had been received, said Damascus was considering it.
Apart from Shawkat, Mehlis wants to interview Major General Bahjat Sulaiman, former head of the internal security branch at the general intelligence department; Lieutenant General Rustom Ghazali, former Syrian intelligence chief in Lebanon; Lieutenant General Thafer Yousuf; Lieutenant General Abdul-Karim Abbas; and another officer, Jamea Jamea.
Meanwhile, The European Union has snubbed Bashar by not inviting him to a summit with Mediterranean partners this month.
Instead, British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said yesterday the EU had invited Syrian Foreign Minister Al Shar’a, and called on Syria to cooperate fully with the UN investigation.
