ISRAELI ELECTIONS IN 2006!

It is quite likely the Israeli elections will be held March 7, 2006, as was reported on Monday in an article by Gil Hoffman in the Jerusalem Post.

As I have stated quite repeatedly, it doesn’t matter which political party is in office, the security barrier/wall/fence will be completed, and a false peace will finally come to Israel, perhaps as early as sometime in 2007. All of the major parties want the barrier completed, and all

want such a tight security maintained at its checkpoint entrances, that even spider man could not penetrate them.

Only the completion of the barrier can give the Israeli man in the street a sense of peace and safety. Please do not ask me what party will gain power in the next election. That is like asking me how many angels can sit on the head of a pin.

At this stage I would not even guess.

However, I will advise you of this – If Amir Peretz heads a Labor Party government after the elections, the false peace is even more likely to come in during 2007. He is a leader who can “be had,” “conned,” “led down a garden path of roses into a quicksand pit,” by the Palestinian Authority.

He is actually naïve to the point he believes the Palestinians will keep their word on an agreement, and will rush headlong into the fulfillment of I Thessalonians 5:3,4 and Zechariah 13:8.

I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Zechariah 13:8 – And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.

The only joy I find in this is knowing the fulfillment of these two Scriptures will let me know for sure that the coming

of the Messiah is very near. I am, however, deeply grieved to know that some two-thirds of Israel’s in-country population will die in the time of sudden destruction that comes on

them from the north.

Parties Agree on March 7 Election

The Labor, Shinui, National Religious Party, and National Union factions agreed with new Labor chairman Amir Peretz that the ideal date for the general elections would be

March 7, the first Tuesday in March.

Peretz convened the Labor faction and received its endorsement for the agreement that he worked out earlier in the day with Shinui leader Yosef Lapid, NRP chairman Zevulun Orlev, and National Union MK Yitzhak Levy.

“For the good of Israel, the date cannot be delayed,” Peretz told reporters in a press conference after the Labor faction meeting.

“National responsibility requires holding the elections as soon as possible. I support elections at the beginning of March, and I hope Sharon agrees,” Peretz said.

Peretz also said that he “does not intend to back [Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon into a corner.” He added that the decision is in the hands of the prime minister.

Sharon’s national unity government will fall on Monday, November 21, according to a bill to disperse the Knesset, agreed upon on Tuesday by Peretz, Orlev, and Levy.

“The government will fall, by law, on Monday night,” Levy said after leaving Peretz’s office.

Peretz brought the deal to the Labor faction for approval on Tuesday afternoon, and will propose it to Sharon on Thursday, followed by a presentation to the Labor Central Committee on Sunday.

According to the deal, Levy and Orlev agreed to push off the vote on their Knesset dispersal bills from Wednesday to Monday, and in return, Peretz agreed to coordinate with them the date for toppling the government.

A very powerful blast in a vehicle parked

in front of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant brought back memories

of two Pakistani officers in my graduating USAFIHL class in Advanced Forecasting.

They were about 15 years my senior, and have probably gone on into eternity.

They were both Muslim, very nice fellows, and I enjoyed many hours of pleasant conversation with them.

They immediately came to mind this morning because the terrorist car bomb episode occurred in Karachi, where they both were stationed – They were Captains Umar and Nazier in the Pakistani Air Force.

The car bomb blast immediately killed two people and wounded some fifteen, six of which are listed in serious condition.

The dead were both security guards.

The explosion’s force blew a cr

ater some six feet deep under the vehicle where it had been implanted, demolished the front gate of the Kentucky Fried restaurant, destroyed several cars, and shattered windows in nearby buildings.

Well, at last we can be thankful we haven’t had to post security guards for protection from terrorists in front of our Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants, that is, at least not yet.

A Cat and Mouse Nuclear Game – Ends When Iran Gets the Bomb!

I am not overly concerned whether or not Iran gets a nuclear warhead

to mount on its Shahab Missile series, because they would never dare to launch it against Israel or Europe, unless one was launched against their own country. The last thing they want is a nuclear war in which the great superiority of U.S. and Israeli nuclear power would eliminate them as a nation in just a few hours. They want a conventional ground war fought with conventional weapons.

CIA: Iran Advanced in Nuke Program

American intelligence believes that Iran has advanced on its march toward development of nuclear weapons, a major US newspaper reported Sunday.

The newspaper The New York Times said that the CIA passed intelligence to the International Atomic Energy Committee that had been recovered from a computer stolen from a top Iranian official. The documents contained descriptions of experiments and blueprints

of Iranian nuclear facilities.

The US intelligence agency claimed that this new information was the strongest evidence yet that Iran is trying to develop a compact nuclear warhead to fit atop its lauded Shahab missile, which can reach Israel.

Speaking recently about Iran’s nuclear development, Chief of Staff Lt.

Gen. Dan Halutz said that “it can present an existential threat. Iran is determined to obtain nuclear weapons because that is in its national interest.

I’m convinced that the level of international pressure that is applied, and that will be applied, can slow down this process, but I doubt it can stop it. The State of Israel doesn’t need to lead any campaign against Iran. The Iranian problem is not an Israeli problem. From our perspective, we need to do all that is necessary so that if a threat materializes, we will be able to deal with it, and there are tools in order to do so.”

Iran on Sunday denied the report about the country’s alleged effort to design a nuclear warhead.

Teheran rebuffed Saturday the compromise agreement that was developed by western nations through which Iran would be able to continue with nuclear power development, but with the actual enrichment of uranium taking place in Russia.

But, when asked if Tehran would agree to carrying out enrichment abroad, Aghazadeh said, “Iran’s nuclear fuel will be produced inside Iran.”

In Vienna on Friday, a diplomat accredited to the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that a position paper entitled “Elements of a Long-Term Solution” had been passed on to the Russians about a week ago.

Under the reported compromise, Iran would be allowed to do the conversion work, but the enrichment would be done in Russia – an arrangement that theoretically would deny Iran the capacity to make fuel for nuclear weapons.

The IAEA on November 24 plans to discuss whether to refer Iran to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions connected to its nuclear program. An agreement before then could avert a vote and likely avoid straining relations between Russia and the United States, both of which have veto power on the Security Council.

Iran is striving for a scattered tactical pattern of deliverable nuclear bombs mounted on Shahab missile heads. When they get such a system, they will believe it will allow them to launch a conventional Jihad war with Israel, because of the “tit for tat” nuclear standoff which will be in place. Since Israel is positive it can win a conventional war against the Arab nations, as it has done three times in the past, and with Iran also having nuclear missiles, as does Israel, Israel would be happy if nuclear weapons were not used. But this time Israel is not going to be facing 3 or 4 Islamic nations, she will be facing 10.

Late Model Used Car for Sale – Cheap!

If you believe the statement by Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, made in the Jerusalem Post article which follows, you are someone

I have been looking for to sell a vehicle I really hate to give up. It is a late model car that only has 1,666 miles on it, and was only driven to work by a sweet old lady back and forth to work for the last 10 years (she only lived a few blocks from the school). I am willing to part with it for only 250 dollars.

Just to make sure someone happens to believe I have such a deal waiting for them to jump on, I feel obligated to warn you that such a vehicle does not exist, nor do

the terror prevention attacks supposedly carried out by the Palestinian Authority.

The PA is jumping with glee at the election of Amir Peretz as the new head of the Labor Party.

He is gullible enough to actually believe a true peace can be negotiated with a people who would love to hang all Israelis after torturing them to within an inch of death.

But rest assured that the new head of the Labor Party, Amir Peretz, is prepared to give away more West Bank land, and more Israeli rights, than anyone can imagine.

He would also be willing to change the path of the security barrier to give the Palestinians more land, but he

will not stop the barrier from being completed.

So it doesn’t matter which party wins the coming elections, the barrier will be completed in 2007, and the false peace will eventually come in.

Qurei: PA Thwarted Over 40 Attacks, Praises Peretz

According to a statement by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei on Monday, PA security forces thwarted over 40 terror attacks against Israeli targets during the month of October.

In his statement, Qurei also praised recently-elected Labor Party head Amir Peretz for his recent call to renew Israel-Palestinian negotiations, Israel Radio reported.

THE HARD REALITIES OF HISTORY

If we lived in a society based on love and heartfelt compassion for the welfare of others over our own personal satisfaction and happiness, then there would be no need to understand the hard realities of history, and we could all live happily ever after in the land of never-never in the far off sweet forever.

This article, which follows, was extracted from a Jerusalem Post Online Edition in August 2004.

It was written by the Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Temple University in Philadelphia, Edward Bernard Glick, who is the author of “Peaceful Conflict and Soldiers, Scholars, and Society.” This is by far the best articulated assessment of the only way success can ever be obtained in a conflict with enemies of completely different ideologies.

It is as true today as it ever has been in the archives of history.

We are facing a religious ideology diametrically opposed to any other than its own. The Islamic ideology considers those not a part of it as infidels.

There is no hiding place in this conflict f or bleeding

or faint hearts.

This is not a gentleman’s conflict fought by rules or laws that allow great compassion or “time out” for tea. This is most assuredly not a time for appeasement, but rather a time for no compromise. Whether we accept it or reject it, we are living in a reality world of “crush or be crushed!”

Events in both Israel and Iraq prove that the winning-hearts-and-minds approach to ending wars and insurrections has the same success rate as getting rain by praying for it. If it were indeed the key to victory, armies would have exchanged their weapons for public relations kits ages ago.

The ancient Persians conquered the Babylonians, and the Greeks the Persians, and the Romans the Greeks, and the Turks the Byzantines, and the British the Turks not by capturing their hearts and minds, but by overwhelming them with so much might that they lost their will to fight and surrendered.

Swords, not sermons, swept Islam quickly from the Middle East to Africa and the Far East. Swords, not sermons, enabled King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella to rid Spain of 700 years of Moorish rule. And it was swords, not sermons, that stopped the Muslims at the gates of Vienna.

During the Revolutionary War, Great Britain’s King George III did not relinquish his American colonies because General George Washington had somehow won his mind and heart. Similarly, England’s Duke of Wellington didn’t prevail at the Battle of Waterloo because he won the heart and mind of France’ s Napoleon Bonaparte.

And the South didn’t surrender and end the American Civil War because Union General Ulysses S.

Grant won the hearts and minds of General Robert E.

Lee and his Confederate troops.

Nor did the Allied powers vanquish the Axis powers in 1945 because their brilliant propaganda and psychological warfare tactics captured the latter’s hearts and minds. Germany and Italy surrendered because they knew in their brains and their bowels that they had been beaten by slow, sustained, and superior force, applied over a number of very bloody years.

And the Empire of Japan surrendered not because US navy captain (later admiral) Ellis Zacharias, a specialist in intelligence and psychological operations, was able to broadcast our surrender terms in fluent Japanese, but because Japan had already taken the measure of America’s atom bomb.

IN 1970, Canada presented an excellent, if forgotten, example of force prevailing over hearts and minds.

French Canadian terrorist separatists had kidnapped James Cross, the British trade commissioner, and Pierre Laporte, Quebec’s minister of labor. They later murdered Laporte. Instead of trying to win their hearts and minds, Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, himself a French Canadian, got parliament to proclaim a War Measures Act and suspend Canadian civil liberties.

Then he ordered Canadian troops and mounties to search the streets of Quebec house by house. They arrested 500 people and crushed the terrorists.

The Cold War did not end in the 1980s because Voice of America broadcasts or State Department exchange programs eventually got to the hearts and minds of the Soviet people. It ended because the Kremlin leadership finally realized that President Ronald Reagan, with the backing of most of the American people, was ready to use all means, including economic strangulation and military prowess, to end communist domination of Eastern and Central Europe.

On the other hand, since the Korean War was at best a draw, and the United States did not win in Vietnam, many Americans no longer accept war as part of the human condition. So they seek to appease with nonmilitary approaches enemies who cannot be appeased.

Neither can these Americans fathom that when a nation does go to war, it is entirely proper, as US president Franklin Delano Roosevelt and British prime minister Winston Churchill knew so well, for it to sacrifice one in order to save 10, ten to save hundreds, hundreds to save thousands, and thousands to save millions.

Islam does not look kindly upon infidels who lose. So the issue confronting Israel and the United States is not whether one is pro-Bush or anti-Bush, pro-Sharon or anti-Sharon, for or against the invasion of Iraq, or for or against Israel’s leaving the Gaza Strip unilaterally. The issue is how can the United States and Israel defeat their foes

?

The Ba’athists and the jihadists will not stop fighting the Great Satan because they have been made to like, respect, or fear the United States. They will stop fighting only when they are convinced that America’s Vietnam trauma is over and that America

is once again willing and able to use crushing force.

And Israel, the Little Satan, will prevail over its existential enemies only when it realizes that in order to survive it must fight by the rules of the neighborhood in which it lives.

In short, America’s and Israel’s struggles will end favorably only if they follow Churchill’s dictum: “Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.”
