Egypt, a country already eaten alive with multiple terrorist groups anxious to overthrow the pro-western government, now has a lot more to worry about, with more different terrorist groups streaming into its country across a broken barrier in its northeastern corner.

horns that follow the Islamic Antichrist. When the Antichrist does attack Israel, he will stream south across Israel, driving her into the Negev Wilderness, then turn south to conquer Egypt, where he will establish his Caliphate Capital at Cairo.

I believe this attack is likely to occur at some point in time between 2010 and 2015, and current events are preparing the way for it.
The immediate questions, for which Egypt now seeks answers, are how many will return to Gaza, how many will stay, and how much trouble will they cause for an Egyptian government that is already unstable.

23, masked men blew up sections of the concrete border wall at the Rafah crossing. Thousands of Palestinians swarmed through as Egyptian border troops, reinforced overnight, fell back.

Tuesday, Hamas built up the pressure by sending thousands of women “demonstrators,” to batter the Rafah crossing. They clashed with Egyptian border troops who opened fire and used night sticks to beat them off. About 70 people were injured in the clash, including Egyptian police.

DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources report: Hamas’ success in seizing the Gaza border with Egypt and its Rafah terminal is a big one up in their contest with Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Authority, after driving his forces out of Gaza last year and evicting them from administration of its crossings.

It also voids the Israel-Egyptian security accords signed when Israel pulled out of the Gaza Strip in 2005, under which Cairo undertook to control movements out of Gaza assisted by international monitors.

DEBKAfile: Hamas incites Egyptian opposition for street protests, is set to impose reconciliation on Palestinian Authority

The Palestinian fundamentalist group ruling the Gaza Strip has plans for building on its successes in seizing control of the Egyptian border and forcing Israel to deliver a million tons of fuel and 300,000 tons of cooking gas under unrelenting missile attack.

Hamas agitators are inciting Egyptian opposition parties, led by their parent Muslim Brotherhood, to stage a mass anti-government protest this coming weekend.

Furthermore, DEBKAfile’s Gulf sources report, Hamas leaders backed by Saudi Arabia, are pushing for an Arab summit, to be called an “Emergency Conference for Gaza” to take place in the Sinai town of Sharm al-Sheikh.

Their plan is for Saudi King Abdullah and Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak to jointly force Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas to stand alongside Hamas’ Damascus-based Khaled Meshaal and Ismail Haniya and patch up their quarrel for the sake of Palestinian unity.

This summit would empower Hamas to dictate a limited de facto ceasefire, to force the IDF to agree to holding its fire in return for the suspension of the Palestinian missile offensive. The arms smuggling tunnels would be excluded from the truce deal and continue to build up the Hamas war arsenal with arms, fighting strength and cash unmolested.

Senior Israeli military officers object to such ceasefire terms because Hamas and its allies would be free to resume their missile assaults at will and gear up undisturbed for escalated aggression.

DEBKAfile Exclusive: Hamas’ seizure of Northern Sinai from Egypt sends Washington, Jerusalem and Cairo into tense consultations

Senior military sources told DEBKAfile that the strategic feat achieved by Hamas Tuesday night, in capturing a section of Sinai from Egyptian forces, is irreversible.

Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice and Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert held tense talks on the crisis Wednesday night, Jan. 23.

By demolishing the 10-km concrete barrier dividing the Gaza Strip from Egyptian Sinai, Hamas, backed by 200,000 Palestinians who surged across Wednesday, has acquired a new stronghold outside Israel’s military reach. US and Israeli intelligence sources report that Hamas laid the ground for its coup and timed it deliberately for the opening Wednesday of the Palestinian National Congress in Damascus.

This event was organized by Tehran and Damascus to counter the US-promoted Annapolis conference and discredit Mahmoud Abbas’ diplomatic track with Israel under the US aegis.

Tehran and Damascus brought to the congress some 900 Palestinian delegates of 17 radical Palestinian opposition groups and 300 “special guests” from across the Arab world.

It was opened by hard-line Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal with a speech which glorified his Gazan brothers’ feat in breaking down the Gaza-Egyptian border as the greatest Palestinian achievement for years.

He declared that an “end to the occupation” in all parts of Palestine must take precedence over Palestinian statehood – a direct challenge to the Bush administration’s two-state thesis.

Rice and David Welch, assistant secretary of state for the Middle East, made a point of warning Mubarak that he must act expeditiously to restore border security because the entire Washington Palestinian strategy hinging on Abbas and the Annapolis declarations hangs in the balance.

But the Egyptian president replied that his main worry is not the Palestinian issue but concern that his own opposition, led by the Muslim Brotherhood, may adopt Hamas tactics and stir up trouble in his cities. Mubarak said he would leave the situation in northern Sinai as it is for the time being. In other words, his troops would not force the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who swarmed out of Gaza to return home.

Such an effort would be a tall order, anyway. According to information reaching Cairo, Hamas has instructed large numbers of Palestinians who fled Gaza to stay where they are. Their assignment is to create a bridge between Gaza and the 40,000 Palestinians living in North Sinai. This population ballooned fivefold on Jan. 23 in the space of a few hours.

Furthermore, the Palestinian department of Egypt’s security services is on high alert after learning that the 130,000 Palestinians living in communities in Cairo, Alexandria and the Suez Canal cities are preparing to help their Gazan brothers steal into Egypt.

DOWN THE RIVER OF NO RETURN!

We are headed down the “River of Peacenik Tears” to a great war of unequaled historical terror, from which there will be no return, except the return of Christ with the Saints to end it at his Second Advent.

war will directly affect all nations, and they are going to be up a creek without a peacenik paddle.

John Bolton: It will be up to Israel to stop Iran

“The questions come to Israel, weather it will use military force to stop Iran,” former US ambassador to the

US John Bolton said Tuesday.

Speaking at the eighth Herzliya Conference, in a special session devoted to the Iranian nuclear race, Bolton said “The united states used to have a policy on Iran and recently there was a new push to create a new policy but sadly, due to the direction American policy is going, it seems that for the next few years the United States will be a bystander to the process.”

“It’s close to zero percent chance that the Bush administration will authorize military action against Iran before leaving office.

At the same time in Teheran they took careful notice of how Israel got into Syria and to prepare for such an action against Iran. Without American policy backing anti Iraq action Israel should be willing to see themselves as a possible last resort.”

“No one should be under any illusions about the United States part of the Iranian situation in the coming year,” he added.

In related news, Bolton spoke at length about the Israeli strike in Syria on September 6, 2007, which was reported in detail only in the foreign media, and criticized sharply the Israeli government decision to censor information regarding the strike.

“Why wouldn’t the government of Israel want to take the credit for a stunningly successful military strike?” he asked

“Our governments … know the details and I wonder if that censorship and classification of information is necessary.

“I, for one, am not bound by any of the Israeli laws of censorship, while the American first amendment stays with me.

“I don’t understand the reason for strong Israeli censorship in the news.

The Syrian and North Korea governments know the whole truth and the USA and Israeli Governments know part of the truth. It’s the citizens of all four countries who don’t.

“Due to its government censorship the people of Israel can know what it feels like to be a citizen of north Korea,” Bolton ended his attack on censorship in the Israeli press.

Bolton continued to describe how North Korea, once it succeeded in being removed from the US list of terror-sponsoring countries, would become a major player in the Middle East arms race.

“The proliferation of nuclear weapons in the middle east will start with North Korea. It counterfeits money, sells narcotics, and it will do anything for hard money,” he said.

“In 1998 North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the pacific ocean near Japan.

After a year North Korea said that it promises that it wouldn’t test such missiles anymore.

“This was a double victory. First to launch the missile and it’s testing and secondly the political benefits of promising not to do so again. This ballistic missile information was shared with Iran,” Bolton said.

He added that Iranian-North Korean cooperation was “getting more intensive.”

Also speaking at the session, former chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and Likud MK Yuval Steinitz blasted the American National Intelligence Estimate, calling it “the most bizarre report I have ever read.”

Steinitz said the report, issued jointly at the end of 2007 by several American intelligence agencies, “seriously harmed the struggle to contain Iran. The report gave Russia and China a pretext to soften their stand towards Iran and therefore created great damage, despite being essentially unfounded.”

“The report was given to the White House and relevant agencies unannounced, so there is a certain problem regarding [the Aemrican] democracy,” he added.

The report stated that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003, but by neglecting to explain why Iran halted its program, the report failed to advise of the right course of action, Steinitz asserted.

The NIE, he said, reasoned that the fact Iran halted its program in 2003 proved that sanctions and other diplomatic efforts were working, “but one must remember that in 2003 the US began its campaign in Iraq, and its most natural to think that military pressure, that is, the fact that the US went to war in Iraq, is what caused, [Iranian] policy makers to change their mind.

But the report doesn’t say this, because this would hint that the US needs to impose a military ultimatum [on Iran.]”

‘Iran cannot be stopped militarily’

“A military option doesn’t exist. You can only delay” Iranian nuclear armament through military means, according to Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, speaking to journalists Tuesday on the sidelines of the Herzliya Conference.

Asked if the world could live with a nuclear Iran, he replied with the question, “Can you stop it? The only way we can be certain of succeeding is an agreement with Iran that’s verifiable. Military options won’t do the trick.”

Bildt also spoke of the Annapolis process, which he believes is the best possibility for peace between Israel and the Palestinians to date.

“There are three factors now that we haven’t seen before,” he explained. “There is an Israeli prime minister who said there’s a partner for peace, the active involvement of the world seen at the Paris donors’ conference, and suddenly the active involvement of the United States.”

According to Bildt, the world sees a “virtual collapse of the Gazan economy” with recent Israeli cuts to the strip’s fuel supply.

He warned that “Israel will be seen in the eyes of the world as responsible for a humanitarian disaster.” Even if Israel tries to end its responsibility for the Gaza Strip, “you can’t get rid of responsibility for access” to the Strip, Bildt said.

Appeasement to Known Evil Principalities is a major contributor to the fulfillment of End Time Prophecy. It is heading the world down a path to a fulfillment of

the prophecies of Joel and Acts, and the latest action of appeasement by America is described in the DEBKAfile article which follows our heading.

Joel 3:9-15 – Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war,

wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: [10] Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. The policy of appeasement in my lifetime has consistently proven itself to be detrimental to those who pursue it, as well as to all the residents of the same planet on which I abide. It is now coming into focus on dealing with Iran, and this time the policy of appeasement will be instrumental in producing the most detrimental horrifying event ever experienced by mankind. The policy of appeasement in modern diplomacy to prevent war is generally associated with British Prime Neville Chamberlain’s infamous trip to Munich, where the free world sold out Czechoslovakia to appease Hitler. I was in the first grade at that time and had barely learned to read. I remember the headline which Neville Chamberlain held up in his hand, as he proclaimed, “Peace in Our Times.”

It might be interesting for you to read the historical significance of the appeasement policy as extracted from Spartacus Educational Schoolnet, which follows:

Neville Chamberlain became Prime Minister of Britain on 28th May, 1937. Over the next two years Chamberlain’s Conservative government became associated with the foreign policy that later became known as appeasement.

Chamberlain believed that Germany had been badly treated by the Allies after it was defeated in the First World War. He therefore thought that the German government had genuine grievances and that these needed to be addressed. He also thought that by agreeing to some of the demands being made by Adolf Hitler of Germany and Benito Mussolini of Italy, he could avoid a European war.

Anthony Eden, Chamberlain’s foreign secretary, did not agree with the policy of appeasement and resigned in February, 1938. Eden was replaced by Lord Halifax who fully supported this policy. Halifax had already developed a good relationship with the German government. After his first visit to Nazi Germany he told his friend, Henry (Chips) Channon: “He (Halifax) told me he liked all t

he Nazi leaders, even Goebbels, and he was much impressed, interested and amused by the visit. He thinks the regime absolutely fantastic.”

In November, 1937, Neville Chamberlain sent Lord Halifax to meet Adolf Hitler, Joseph Goebbels and Hermann Goering in Germany. In his diary, Lord Halifax records how he told Hitler: “Although there was much in the Nazi system that profoundly offended British opinion, I was not blind to what he (Hitler) had done for Germany, and to the achievement from his point of view of keeping Communism out of his country.” This was a reference to the fact that Hitler had banned the Communist Party (KPD) in Germany and placed its leaders in Concentration Camps.

In February, 1938, Adolf Hitler invited Kurt von Schuschnigg, the Austrian Chancellor, to meet him at Berchtesgarden. Hitler demanded concessions for the Austrian Nazi Party.

Schuschnigg refused and after resigning was replaced by Arthur Seyss-Inquart, the leader of the Austrian Nazi Party. On 13th March, Seyss-Inquart invited the German Army to occupy Austria and proclaimed union with Germany.

The union of Germany and Austria (Anschluss) had been specifically forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles. Some members of the House of Commons, including Anthony Eden and Winston Churchill, now called on Neville Chamberlain to take action against Adolf Hitler and his Nazi government.

Hugh Christie an MI6 agent working based in Berlin, met with Hermann Goering on 3rd February 1937. He immediately reported his conversation with Goering and included information that Germany intended to take control of Austria and Czechoslovakia. He also told Christie that Germany mainly wanted “a free hand in Eastern Europe.”

In March 1938 Hugh Christie told the British government that Adolf Hitler would be ousted by the military if Britain joined forces with Czechoslovakia against Germany. Christie warned that the “crucial question is ‘How soon will the next step against Czechoslovakia be tried?’ … The probability is that the delay will not exceed two or three months at most, unless France and England provide the deterrent, for which cooler heads in Germany are praying.”

International tension increased when Adolf Hitler began demanding that the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia should be under the control of the German government.

In an attempt to to solve the crisis, the heads of the governments of Germany, Britain, France and Italy met in Munich in September, 1938.

On 29th September, 1938, Adolf Hitler, Neville Chamberlain, Edouard Daladier and Benito Mussolini signed the Munich Agreement which transferred to Germany the Sudetenland, a fortified frontier region that contained a large German-speaking population. When Eduard Benes, Czechoslovakia’s head of state, who had not been invited to Munich, protested at this decision, Chamberlain told him that Britain would be unwilling to go to war over the issue of the Sudetenland.

The Munich Agreement was popular with most people in Britain because it appeared to have prevented a war with Germany. However, some politicians, including Winston Churchill and Anthony Eden, attacked the agreement. These critics pointed out that no only had the British government behaved dishonorably, but it had lost the support of Czech Army, one of the best in Europe.

One staunch critic of appeasement was the journalist Vernon Bartlett. He was approached by Richard Acland to stand as an anti-Chamberlain candidate at a by-election in Bridgwater.

Bartlett agreed and in November, 1938, surprisingly won the previously safe Tory seat. Henry (Chips) Channon , a junior member of the government wrote in his diary: “This is the worst blow the Government has had since 1935”.

In March, 1939, the German Army seized the rest of Czechoslovakia. In taking this action Adolf Hitler had broken the Munich Agreement. The British prime minister, Neville Chamberlain, now realized that Hitler could not be trusted and his appeasement policy now came to an end.

Our current shift in policy to appeasement on Iran’s nuclear drive to obtain nuclear warheads for her Shihab missile series will allow her to succeed in her quest. This will give Iran confidence to begin what will amount to a conventional war, fearing no Israeli nuclear retaliation due to Iran’s own nuclear arsenal, and the conventional war will terminate at Armageddon, some three and one-half years after it begins.

DEBKAfile: Washington lines up with Moscow’s soft diplomacy

on Iran, Nicholas Burns drops out

Nicholas Burns’ retirement as US undersecretary for political affairs Friday, Jan.

18, and his replacement by US ambassador to Moscow William Burns, take the Bush administration’s strategy on Iran’s nuclear activities a stage closer to Moscow’s line of soft diplomacy.

State department spokesman Sean McCormack Saturday played down expectations that the six powers meeting in Berlin next Tuesday would produce a consensual UN sanctions resolution. The group – the US, Russia, China, UK, France and Germany – were deadlocked at previous meetings by Moscow and Beijing’s opposition to harsh measures. The change in Washington is indicated by McCormack’s reference to “multilateral diplomacy.”

The outgoing Nicholas Burns, in the No. 3 State Department spot, held the Iran portfolio and led the Bush administration’s drive for tough sanctions at the UN Security Council. (He is the 19th diplomat to quit the State Department in recent weeks). Ambassador Burns (no relation) is closer to the Russian approach.

DEBKAfile’s Moscow sources note that President George W. Bush has in recent months taken strides towards closing the gap with the Kremlin on Iran.

President Valdimir Putin’s standard line – I have no information that Iran is developing nuclear arms – was corroborated by the US National Intelligence Estimate’s conclusion in December that Tehran had shelved its military program in 2003.

Circles close to Putin maintain that the two presidents began working together quietly in October 2007, on the shared understanding that affirmative tactics were preferable to tough penalties for weaning Tehran away from uranium enrichment, even temporarily. Therefore, after long opposition, Bush surprisingly came out in favor of Moscow’s decision to consign uranium fuel rods for Iran’s atomic reactor in Bushehr.

Our sources in the Persian Gulf and Vienna disclose, moreover, that the US president also lined up with Saudi King Abdullah on a decision to relegate the handling of Iran’s nuclear issues to the UN nuclear watchdog’s director Mohammed ElBaradei.

ElBaradei was therefore accorded the unusual honor of an audience with Iran’s supreme ruler Ayatollah Ali Khamenei when he visited Tehran on Jan.

12. He was told he could expect full cooperation from the Iranian government and promised answers to his questions on the tough questions of the uranium enrichment process and plutonium production.

The US and Russian governments both believe that an important breakthrough has been achieved and a way forward for further diplomatic engagement on the hitherto intractable Iranian nuclear program.

The United States has therefore turned away from confrontation with Iran and consigned its clandestine nuclear projects to the routine diplomatic track.

This course is diametrically opposed to the policy pursued by Nicholas Burns in recent years. His resignation was therefore logical.

4th Russian fuel shipment reaches Iran

A fourth Russian shipment of nuclear fuel arrived in Iran on Sunday, destined for a power plant being constructed in the southern Iranian port of Bushehr, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

The report said 11 tons of fuel arrived at the Bushehr power plant, just two days after Iran received its third Russian shipment on Friday.

Russia has reportedly pledged to give Iran a total of 85 tons of fuel for the plant.

The remainder of the fuel, about 40 tons, was scheduled to arrive in four separate shipments in the coming months, the report said.

Iran received its first two shipments of nuclear fuel from Russia in December – after months of disputes between the two countries, allegedly over delayed construction payments for the reactor.

Iran has said Bushehr, the country’s first nuclear reactor, will begin operating in the summer of 2008, producing half of its 1,000 megawatt capacity of electricity.

Teheran heralded the first shipment as a victory, saying it proved its nuclear program

was peaceful and not a cover for weapons development as the US has claimed.

The United States and Russia have said the supply of nuclear fuel meant Iran had no need to continue its uranium enrichment program – a process that can provide fuel for a reactor or fissile material for a bomb. Iran has agreed with Russia to return the spent fuel to ensure it doesn’ t ex

tract plutonium to build a bomb.

Iran insisted it would continue enriching uranium because it needed to provide fuel to a 300-megawatt light-water reactor it was building in the southwestern town of Darkhovin.

Iranian officials have said they plan to generate 20,000 megawatts of electricity through nuclear energy in the next two decades.

Russia’s decision to begin shipping nuclear fuel to Iran followed a US intelligence report released earlier this month that concluded Tehran had stopped its nuclear weapons program in late 2003 and had not resumed it since. Iran says it never had a weapons program.

Middle East markets record huge losses

Stock exchanges in the Middle East and North Africa are following the global trend of massive reductions in stock prices. Analysts blame fears of a global recession coming on the heels of a rapidly sliding United States economy, and say a combination of the two is hammering global equities.

Most sales are by foreign investors trying balance their portfolios and take home profits, said an analyst at The Media Line. Many of the major American financial institutions are being forced to write off huge loan totals, the result of last year’s credit crunch crisis, so they need fresh capital to replenish their coffers.

“The fundamentals here in the region and in Dubai are very strong,” said Yadullah Ijtehadi, managing editor of Zawya, a Dubai based financial information service. “But over the last one-and-a-half to two years international investors have entered the Dubai market and because of what’s happening in the UK, US, and Asian markets we are seeing a domino effect.”

Dubai Financial Market (DFM) is among the hardest hit in the region, falling steadily over the last week with a significant slump on Friday when the DFM index fell by 5.33 percent.

Another market that has been hard hit is the Saudi Tadawul All Share Index (TASI). It fell 12.8% over the last week.

In Tel Aviv, the market also fell, but not as much as other regional bourses. The Tel Aviv stock exchange was well positioned and stable as seen by the lower fall of 2.18% compared with the European markets, which fell as much as 6%, said Michael Katina, a broker with Prisma Capital Markets in Tel Aviv.

The Istanbul Stock Exchange lost more than 6% of its value in a 24-hour period, but Turkish analysts are divided over how much damage the current economic environment will cause domestic markets.

Like many emerging economies, Turkey had hoped that its economy would survive the financial storm in the United States, “Obviously that’s not the case,” said Adil Rizvi of the Institutional Sales department of EFG Istanbul Securities. “Turkey was a favorite [place for investment] because of some key themes: CBT [Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey] rate cuts, continuing strong growth, and declining inflation. All these are now being challenged and naturally banks are the hardest hit.”

Others point to the resilience of the Turkish economy. With $90 billion in central bank reserves and a similar amount held by the public, Tunc Ural, the director of the Equities Department at Turk Ekonomi Bank (TEB) argues that, “the currency is building immunity.” The international reversal of bullish equity trends is natural, he said. His only rider is that some 72% of the free-flow equities in Turkey are held by foreigners, and that this needs to be carefully watched.

The CASE (Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange) Titans 20 index was down 3.5% in early trading on Tuesday with the top 30 companies recording losses of almost 4%. Along the southern Mediterranean coastline a similar picture has emerged in Casablanca, where some Moroccan companies lost as much as 6% of their value in a single-day’s trading.

DEBKAfile: New Israeli polar satellite launched from Indian space center begins transmitting

DEBKAfile’s military sources: The 300-kilogram Tecsar is the most advanced of Israel’s satellites. It is the first to be equipped with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) that allows its camera to take high-resolution pictures of small targets in cloudy or foggy weather at any point on earth.

It was launched from India because the Sriharikota space station in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh is positioned for boosting a satellite into polar orbit.

Our military sources report that with Tecsar aloft, Israel will have complementary access for tracking Iranian’s nuclear and military activities that provided by its Ofek spy series..

The satellite, developed by Israeli Aerospace Industries, was launched by India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle Monday, Jan. 21, at 05:45 Israeli time. It has signaled its smooth entry into orbit around the globe.

First images will be beamed down to earth in two weeks.

This was India’s second commercial mission on behalf of a foreign country and was acclaimed in New Delhi as an “important milestone” for India’s space program.

Israel’s most advanced satellite, TecSar has the ability to create images of objects on Earth day and night, even in cloudy weather, using synthetic aperture radar technology.
