From 1967 to 2000 the IDF was far and away the best military force across the Middle East from Morocco
to India and, for that matter, still is, but its military advantage has taken a nose dive in this century. She will not be able to withstand a confederation of ten iron and clay nations against her in the next major war she experiences. I believe the forces of Islam will capture Jerusalem and the land of Israel from Dan to the Negev city of Beersheba, and will be able to hold it for some three and one-half years.

The Australian article by Abraham Rabinovich follows the same theme. The invincibility of the Israel army was well established after the 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973 conflicts, but that their cloke of invincibility has developed some thin spots in its material over the last 12 years. I am guesstimating the thin spots will rip open when the following Scriptures begin to be fulfilled at some point in time between 2008
and 2012.
There will be some push and pull in 2007, but I do not believe the major conflict described in the following Scriptures will begin prior to 2008.

Comptroller finds severe flaws in IDF

Four months following the war in Lebanon and in his annual report on the defense establishment, State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss revealed Monday that a vast majority of the senior IDF officer corps does not receive compulsory military education.
In 2003, then-chief of staff Lt.-Gen. (ret.) Moshe Ya’alon decided that officers on track to becoming brigadier generals, the second-highest rank in the IDF not including the chief of staff, would need to study at the National Defense College (NDC) and participate in an advanced training course for top commanders called Komem as well as Program Mafne, which teaches field commanders how to oversee large military
In his report, Lindenstrauss found that the Komem course had not been held since 2003 and that as of December 2005 – the date when the report was compiled – 82 percent of major generals, 68% of brigadier generals and 76% of colonels had not studied at the NDC.
The comptroller revealed a detailed list of flaws in the study program at the NDC, including the fact that most of the instructors at the college lacked the necessary training and education to teach national defense on an academic level.
In addition, the report claims that the IDF’s Operational Theory Research Institute (OTRI), located at the NDC and established to develop and write operational commands and methods, had not published a single report on large-scale military tactics in the 12 years prior to the inspection.
“This severe situation runs the risk of preventing the creation of a common professional military language, needed to manage and command large IDF frameworks in routine and during states of emergency,” Lindenstrauss wrote in the report.
The comptroller called on Defense Minister Amir Peretz to review the NDC’s purpose in conjunction with the National Security Council as well as to establish a professional educational advisory committee for the college made up of senior government officials and academics.
In response to the report, the IDF Spokesperson’s Office released a statement: “Studies at the NDC significantly contribute to the top IDF echelon.
Nevertheless, the number of spaces for students are limited.”
The statement added that the IDF would establish an educational advisory committee for the NDC.

Israel ups training for unready reserves

ISRAELI reserve troops and regulars will spend up to 40 per cent more time training in coming years in an effort to overhaul the army in the wake of the indecisive war in Lebanon in August.
Israeli Defence Force spokesmen say the war showed their troops were not prepared and that many armour and infantry units had gone without combat training for years.
Close to 50 army inquiries into the war have made it clear the army command was mostly to blame for the Israeli forces’ confused performance during the month-long fight with Hezbollah guerillas.
As a result, the army will be organising refresher courses for its commanders.
The IDF is reopening a guerilla warfare school it closed after Israel’s initial pullback from Lebanon in 2000, and is building new urban warfare centres.
Budget cuts and the focus on putting down the Palestinian intifada since 2000 are cited by senior officers as the reasons for the neglect of training.
Israel lost about 120 soldiers and says it killed about 600 Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.
But it failed to stop rockets being fired into Israel.
Nor did the troops reach Israel’s intended goal, the Litani River.
The senior officer in comm and of the troops in Lebanon, Major General Udi Adam, has resigned
and other officers are expected to follow.
Hezbollah is also rebuilding itself in the wake of the losses suffered by its relatively small fighting force.
According to Israeli intelligence, some recruits and officers have been sent to Iran for training, while members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard are providing instruction for others in Lebanon.
