Is it Possible the Palestinians are about to Turn the Corner?

It is an honest question, and
I do not know the answer to it. I do know that sooner or later the Palestinians, and all their many terrorist thug groups, will realize their hit and run actions, kidnapping, and rocket launches are not going to accomplish their goal of driving Israel into the Mediterranean Sea. They have finally been able to get a Kassam to hit a target in Ashkelon, a city of 120,000, which has caused great concern among Israeli politicians because of its effect on the civilian voters.
It will cause the IDF to drive further north in the Gaza Strip.
Could this latest episode of terrorist activity, and the invasion of Gaza in response to it, finally cause the terrorists inside Israel, as well as their bosses in southern Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, to understand they must change their tactics to achieve their goal of smashing Israel. Surely, by now, they must realize that this pattern in the Middle East could go on forever, and their goal will never be reached.
I cannot answer the question as to HOW or WHEN they will finally realize the only way they can reach their final objective is by lulling the Israelis into a false sense of security, but I do know it will happen, and I am convinced the “turning of the corner” toward this position will be soon. Up this point the Islamic fanatics have let their overzealous hate toward the Jews override their logic, but sooner or later they will realize their current tactics will never allow them to reach their final dream of driving Israel out of the land from Dan to Beersheba. Israel must be led into a false sense of “Peace and safety,” before sudden destruction can come on them. Once Israel gets the Palestinians enclosed by the security barrier, she will develop a false sense that she has a form of “Peace and safety.”
I Thessalonians 5:3,4 – For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
So, I can only guesstimate as to when the terrorists will turn the corner.
My guesstimate is that they will “turn the corner” by 2008, and that at some point in time between 2008 and 2012 a vicious Jihad attack will occur from without by 10 Arab nations, supported by an outward push by the Palestinians from inside Israel.
The following article from DEBKAfile gives the latest information on current activities associated with the kidnapping and Israeli incursion into the Gaza Strip.

DEBKAfile: Palestinian national security forces did not interfere when Jihad Islami fired first Hamas Qassam missile into Ashkelon’s town center Tuesday from their vicinity near Erez
July 5, 2006, 11:55 AM (GMT+02:00)
The missile attack, ordered by Hamas, damaged the Ort school, but caused no casualties among the parents and children who were registering for the next school year.
DEBKAfile’s military sources add: It took the Palestinian missile squads nine months of trying to hit the southern Israel port town of 120,000 to calculate the precise angle of fire for hitting the town center, 10km away. From northern Gaza, Hamas is able now to mount a massive missile assault on Ashkelon, an urban location more densely populated than Sderot and home to strategic facilities – the Ashkelon-Eilat oil pipeline,
oil port and main power station. The Israel prime minister Ehud Olmert, attending the US ambassador’s 4 of July reception in Herzliya, called the attack on Ashkelon an unprecedented escalation in the terrorist war and a criminal attempt to harm Israeli civilians.
He warned that Hamas would be the first to suffer. At the same time, the Israeli prime minister had due warning of what Hamas had in store. Forty-hours earlier, Hamas spokesmen wowed to set its sights on new targets if Israeli did not halt its attacks in Gaza. The government was warned by intelligence that Ashkelon was targeted.
Yet no attempt was made to beat Hamas
to the draw or even make a swift response. Instead a security cabinet session was called for the next day.
DEBKAfile’s counter-terror sources comment: Israel’s delayed response leaves Hamas free to carrying on shooting at Ashkelon until Israeli civilians are hurt, in the same way as the Islamist terror group ruling the Palestinians continues to hold onto Gilead Shalit. Five Qassam missiles were fired from Gaza earlier Tuesday – one exploded in Sderot`s industrial zone shortly after PM Olmert’s first visit to town In his brief stopover, the prime minister faced bitter complaints against long government neglect of the towns’ security needs.
