Armageddon is one single battle in a war that began some three and one-half years earlier, and that one single battle will end at the Second Advent of the Messiah.
Armageddon is the final battle in a Middle East war that I believe will began at some point in time prior to 2015. When the war begins it will end in a truce, leaving Israel surrounded for some three and one-half years within the borders of the Negev Wilderness from Beersheba to Eilat.
The truce is broken and the final battle of the age of the Gentiles, the battle of Armageddon, will be fought as Europe, Eurasia, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa send their armies to destroy Israel in the Negev. The battle ends with the Second Advent of Jesus Christ and His wrath coming down on the massive army collected by the Antichrist. The few of this massive army who do escape, flee back to the individual countries from whence they came, and report what they saw in the great sign at Armageddon at the Second Advent.
The nations of the world immediately rush to return any Jews living in their lands by any kind of transportation available out of fear of the Lord, and Christ begins his Millennial Reign in Israel.
Luke 21:25-28 – And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; [26] Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. [27] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
[28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
EZEKIEL 39:4-12, ISAIAH 66:15-20, AND MALACHI 4:1-3 DESCRIBE THE LORD COMING AT HIS SECOND ADVENT AT ARMAGEDDON WITH FIRE AND WHAT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWS IT.
Ezekiel 39:4-12 – Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. [5] Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God. [6] And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord. [7] So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. [8] Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord God; this is the day whereof I have spoken. [9] And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: [10] So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord God. [11] And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamon-gog.
[12] And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
Isaiah 66:15-20 – For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and
with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. [16] For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many. [17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord. [18] For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come,
and see my glory. [19] And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. [20] And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the Lord out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the Lord, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.
Malachi 4:1-3 – For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
[2] But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
[3] And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.
EZEKIEL 39:21-29 & ZECHARIAH 14;8,9 DESCRIBE HIS 1000 YEAR REIGN
Ezekiel 39:21-29 – And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. [22] So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward. [23] And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword. [24] According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them. [25] Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; [26] After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid. [27] When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; [28] Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and
have left none of them any more there. [29] Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.
Zechariah 14:8,9 – And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. [9] And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

Russia president planning first official visit to Israel in January
President Dmitry Medvedev will be the first Russian president to visit Israel since 2005, when Vladimir Putin met with Ariel Sharon.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will come to Israel on an official visit January 17, in what will be his first trip to the country since becoming president, a senior Foreign Ministry official said on Tuesday.
The official said Israel and Russia settled on the date in the last few days and that preparations for the visit have begun.
The agenda for Medvedev’s visit has not yet been set, but it is expected to include the nuclearization of Iran, Russia’s supply of advanced weapons to Syria and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
There may also be less sensitive topics on the agenda, including the increase in the number of Russian tourists to Israel and the Netanya monument to Red Army soldiers who were killed fighting the Nazis.

a Russian president visited Israel was in 2005, when Vladimir Putin met with Ariel Sharon, who was prime minister at the time and whom the Russian leader is said to respect and admire.
Putin’s visit, which took place during Passover, was a milestone in bilateral relations in that it marked the beginning of a period of improved ties between the countries despite serious differences on political and security issues, Foreign Ministry officials said.
Meanwhile, the Israel-Russia Joint Economic Committee, a bilateral government panel, will convene this week for the third time since the Moldovan-born Avigdor Lieberman became foreign minister.
Lieberman will represent Israel and Viktor Zubkov, Russia’s first deputy prime minister, will represent Russia.
